NUDGE

email sent to Bert Fields by Marty Rathbun August 17, 2009:

Bert,

Having not heard a word in reply to my letter of August 12 (sent by email to you Aug 12) in response to your letter of August 7 (sent by email to me on Aug 10) I am left to wonder whether you acted upon my suggestion on how to handle my letter – and its referenced webpage links – vis a vis your client. Should I not hear anything from you by noon Tuesday August 18, I will proceed under the assumption you and your client ignored my suggestion and are instead working on a coordinated defense of Miscavige’s conduct.

  1. You know what would do wonders I think, how about Anonymous goes broadly public with something on the order of ‘Hey Mr. Fields, what about Marty’s letter?” You fellas are famous for your public demonstrations.

Put your heads together boys, you’ll come up with something that I’m sure would nudge a response and we’ll get somewhere with this.

    How about it?

  2. The correct Anon response to such a post is NYPA (not your personal army).

ie. Anonymous doesn’t respond well to suggested actions.

    Just a little tip there.

  3. I guess Bert’s sorta like the Trojan Man.

He tells Tommy “my job here is done” who tells Miscavige who finds some poor SO Member to beat up and so it goes….

  4. Kurplunkachu

One super huge counter example to that is when Mark Bunker (Wise Beard Man-who by the way didn’t give that name to himself) made his first video addressing anonymous and changed the entire trajectory of the movement. I am part of anonymous and I have to say there are some STUPID members of anonymous. I wish I was wrong. I’ve had the “NYPA” conversation-stopping rebuttal used against me before. It seems very much said in the spirit of that Rage Against the Machine song that has the lyrics “Fuck you I won’t do whatcha tell me!” screamed over and over again. And BTW I’m not saying that you are stupid, I’m just venting. AAAHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!
AAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!… One more… AAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!… Okay I’m better. At least anonymous exists, so I can’t complain too much. “Just a little tip there.” That’s what she said. Peace. πŸ™‚

  5. Great move Marty! It’s now public record that TC’s attorney knows about the beatings. If TC doesn’t renounce Co$ soon he’ll have his reputation completely destroyed along with DM. If he plays dumb and says his attorney didn’t tell him about the abuse, he’ll be expected, by the public, to FIRE his attorney (pretty embarrassing for Bert).

Either way it’ll be very hard for TC and/or Bert if they don’t publicly denounce DM.

  6. I appreciate what you are doing Marty. All scientology public (including the more famous) need to know they are either part of the problem or the solution.

It is not a defense to hide your head in the sand and ignore the abuses.

  7. I understand. I don’t need a personal army, it appears Marty is his own army as well. If what you are saying is Anonymous won’t do what it’s told just because it’s told to do something, that sounds, well, kind of puerile to me.

How about, Anonymous really, really shouldn’t nudge a response from Mr. Fields. Stay out of it, this isn’t your fight. Let the big boys handle this one. None of you are up to it as it’s something really dangerous and tough. OSA could be all over you and lawyers and such. STAY OUT OF IT ANONYMOUS!!!!

  8. Heather,
Please excuse me if I’m not familiar with the Anon protocol. I was initially just putting out an idea and had no thought of commanding a personal army. It’s probably a bad idea anyway.

  9. Jim, I didn’t intend you to feel like I was pulling you up. Sorry if it came across that way. I just intended to give you a little insight. Yes, Anons can be puerile. One of the favoured analogies is that Anonymous is like a herd of cats. They can be lured, but not directed. And Anons can be uber-sensitive to any perceived (even if unintended) attempt to direct them. πŸ˜‰ Peace.

  10. Heather,
Cheers. My only contact with anything ‘Anonymous’ has been through this blog and a very cursory look-see at a few of its manifestations.

I still think my idea is probably a bad one. That’s not because of what you mentioned on the NYPA motto.

If what you say about the uber-sensitive aspect of the Anons is valid, I think that will have to change for them as otherwise they can be directed just by saying something they don’t like. It’s no good being a stimulus-response animal, whether its a cat or mouse or a man. Know what I mean?

  11. Binette Smithers

You are absolutely correct, Jim. Anonymous might not listen to anybody but I would make clear that I am not working with Anonymous if I would be in Marty’s high profile position.

I would stay out of Anonymous. Anybody can hide under the masks and I could be held accountable by the law when they make wrong decisions.

Anybody can hide under the mask, morons, criminals, KKK, secret service, governments, OSA, you name it. It is better to know who once friends are and even then, one can make startling discoveries in a world where we cannot yet trust each person.

Marty’s best allies might be long time Scientologists who have seen DM’s true colors.

  12. One thing to keep in mind: Bert Fields is 80 years old — only six years younger than the remarkably long-lived Sumner Redstone. Another factor might be that he was involved in considerablef professional sleaze not so long ago during the Pellicano trial.

Having read the brief letter he sent, it appears to me that he was just warning Marty against disclosing any confidential, penitential disclosures by T.C., which Marty didn’t do — but the bit about “managing” the divorce from Nicole probably scared the hell out of them, especially after that recent French TV show. If you missed it, here’s the English subtitled version. Catch it quick; the Vimeo version is no longer there for some reason.

  13. Diggitbaybee!

Get this into the top spot on Digg! OSA isn’t keeping it down. Log on and digg in!

To OSA, Mike Rinder blew and you can too! πŸ˜‰
