Not much comes easy in the Independence game, but one thing we never seem to lack is inspiration. Thanks to all those who provide it in the present. And to those great Americans who have been providing it for more than two hundred years.

Most anything that is good has to be fought for on this planet. I know That a certain portion of my track is in fighting causes, but do you know what is different this time? We have Scientology-The tone scale, PTS/SP Tech, auditor training and auditing!! I I’m not saying it’s still not hard, but we are putting something really good on this planet and this time we will keep it there.Happy Independence Day!

From Saratoga, to Antietam to Iwo Jima and beyond, a big thank you to those who fought for our country and the preservation of our constituional protections. I will always endeavor to know, practice and protect those rights to the best of my ability. Those who gave all, deserve no less devotion.

President Lincoln spoke these words in memory of the 51,000 men who fell at Gettysburg while dedicating a portion of the battlefield for a cemetary. These words still ring true today.

Happy Independence Day America!! Liberty, the sweetest word in the english language. And today Scientologists around the world celebrate their freedom too! Wish I could be there at the party, but I am there in spirit.
LRH was dedicated to freedom for the individual. From “Epicenters and Self Determinism” (page 175 in transcript) 11 Oct. 1951 from Thought, Emotion and Effort The Logics & Axioms.
“…Maybe nobody just plain had enough guts to come out and say, “The second I state that an individual should be given back into his own command and thereafter operate on the lines of his own experience, I am postulating that I will now have to live in a world of individuals who cannot be bludgeoned or beaten into instantaneous, blank obedience. And also, I am abdicating from any throne over the tops of individuals.”
Now, that’s what an individual says at the same time he says this other thing. And you, as individuals, when you look around you, you will see that your-the people in your immediate vicinity-you will see that this is actually what you’re doing. You’re saying, ” I don’t want this fellow as MEST. Hubby is at the party in Texas and says it is 106 degrees. I feel so happy to be here in Seattle where we are having a sunny 4th of July and a light breeze in the mid seventies. (We waited all spring for the skies to clear.)

But no matter where you are, the spirit of Independence is where it’s at for all of us. Have a great day knowing you are free from many things, and free to move toward your own goals and help others move toward theirs.

Happy Fourth! My hat is off to Freedom Fighters every where, past and present, and to:

Marty, Mosey, Mike, Jim Logan, Les and Anita, Pierre (not choosing sides!), Ziba, Helen and Hemut, Ingrid, David S., Ken U., and all the rest who are dedicated to the delivery of Standard Tech (my apologies to those whose names I have omitted).

I believe we are independently carrying forward the torch of spiritual liberation because

-LRH’s intentions for the change in governance of Scientology after his departure (from monarchy to a disbursal of power across 20+ directors and trustees) have been subverted,

-the mechanisms of correction (HCO, Qual, the LC Network, etc.) have been dominated by one man, and

-the Red on White and the Admin Tech has been squirreled.

You – those dedicated to application of Standard Tech – are the whole reason for our Freedom Fight. Thank you.

What a great Indy party!!
I cannot say enough about the value of seeing other Indy’s that have taken the step to come out into the open and speak freely their thoughts.
It is a true tragedy to hear so many horror stories from so many good people. People that were and are true leaders within Scientology. The horror stories always lead back to the same source, a madman. Mud cabbage is enroute to unmocking himself and getting his ethics put in for him since he is not capable of doing it himself. I don’t know how it will happen, but I know one day it will. I have always loved Scientolgists, but as the vulture culture progressed, I liked it less and less, being around the group with all the insanity. The group we have now makes sense. We agree on things. Not all things but that is ok. The party was a huge success.

Great stats Davey; looks like the numbers of participants (not auditors and OT’s) were still increasing in the 90’s. Since your redefinition of the F/N they started dwindling and haven’t stopped since; even non auditors sense your squirreling. From 2001-2008 you lost 30.000 active Scientologists; that’s 4300/yr. So by normal extrapolation (without Marty, Steve, Jeff, etc,) you’ll now have a meagre 12.000 left and even without us doing anything they won’t last you another 3 years. Are you celebrating independence day yet?

A joyous Independents Day to one and all. The founding fathers declared their independence and then fought a revolution to gain their freedom. We have declared our independence from the cult of Miscavige, each in his or her own way. Most, if not all of us practice LRH’s Scientology. It is a Scientology that results in understanding, compassion and the betterment of conditions in ourselves and those in our sphere of influence. That continued, will bring more and more people to the truth, and see the Cult diminish to nothing. This is being done every day by those of us here. Any Texans out there may be interested in the story of The First Iron Navy ship Guadeloupe (&Sister ship montezuma) who were ‘leased’ to the Mexicans by the British complete with British Captains & crews in 1843 to be used in combat against the Texans for war trials (funny how governments do that sort of thing!)

I am waiting at Houston Hobby airport to catch a flight up to North Carolina. I have a business meeting tomorrow.

I have never been so sad to see a holiday weekend end! The celebration was fantastic. My wife Michelle and I met many wonderful people and had many incredible conversations. We are glad we came!

I am not given to over-statement, but I think this get-together was a turning point for independent scientologists and will long be remembered that way. It truly felt like we have a movement going and that we were able to forge the new comm lines we will need to greatly expand delivery in the independent field.

I am optimistic now in a way that I was not, just a few days ago.

Notice that he says November 11 is the anniversary of the end of World War One. I guess I had forgotten why it was called “Armistice Day.” We now call it Veterans’ Day here in the US. It’s always interesting to drop back in time and see again why we thought the way we did, and how things developed from there.

Question: when did they start calling it World War One? Didn’t that happen after the next world war began? I thought they used to just call it “The Great War.” Does that mean this is just a movie clip?

I’d like to personally thank Shannon and Hiro for putting on a fabulous fourth. Marty, Mosey, Mike, Christie and everyone else who made it so worthwile to travel half way across the continenent…thank you all.

What a bunch of theta folks attended.

One of the main things I noticed was how much the conversation has begun to shift away from itsa on our personal tragedies. There was so much more dialogue on what we plan to do about getting the tech out to society and what many are already doing.

Training centers are springing up all over the country. Arbitraries are being expunged and on-source checksheets are being created by very competent auditors and supervisors. PCs and pre-OTs are being audited by more and more active auditors…it’s very inspiring.

Thanks to all who are contributing to the forward motion. We really are making a difference.

It was a joy to meet you Indies and put names to blog tags. The stories of course were profound, but what struck me is the difference between the In-Church Scientologist and the Independent Scientologist: the Indie is out in his and her community having comm cycles, an ethics presence, contributing to the forward motion of their “zone of influence” while the In-Church Scientologist is looking inward at the Church and how they can contribute $$$s to the Church. Now which group do you think will have the most impact on society? Easy answer IMHO…

Your statement that checksheets are being put together by various groups for their in-house use made me wonder if there could be an “inter-indie” dialogue to compare these things and make sure a guy from one part of the country didn’t miss an item that was deemed necessary in another part of the country, or that another would see that the runway was being made too long for the level of skill aimed at, and drop anything unnescssary. Yes – before WWII it was the Great War, or the World War (according to my Mom), and it was Armistice day. WWI was such a horrendous war – all of them are.

I listen to Public Radio shows on my long commutes, and a show I really like is “The Story”. There was a story about a Veteran named Jack Tueller who flew a P-47 during the war. His job (one of them) was to take out Nazi tanks. If you think only middle-eastern terrorists use human shields, think again. It was one of the most moving shows I ever heard, and solidified my anti-war mindset.

One of my favorite short stories of all time is called “The Whistler’s Room” about a military hospital in Germany written by Paul Alverdes. I am lucky enough to have an anthology by Alexander Woolcott which has this incredible story in it. Another author took and edited it a few years ago and republished it – I have not read the re-translated version. I keep meaning to put together an anthology of my own with my favorite short stories to give as gifts to friends – this story alone (being not only out of print, but now long forgotten) is a good reason to do so. The story is about a special convalescent room in a German military hospital where the occupants had been shot in their heads or faces, and could only breathe through metal tubes in their trachea. Reading this story made me understand how important Armistice Day really is. The impact of the Great War to that generation was unbelievable.

All veterans I know who saw action pretty much had the same message: “I went to war, I saw some things, I did what I had to do, and now I am home and it is over.” The “some things” is horror beyond belief in most cases.

Back home and reveling in the joy of the weekend. So great to make new friendships and celebrate old ones. Fun to just enjoying being together with no real agenda. People had stories to tell, but none were stuck in the past. I was impressed with the new games and plans still aligned around intentions to help our fellow man. No one was on guard, just open and sharing themselves.

Even those who could not make it in person – we felt the love.

For those involved with creating the commemorative book – “thank you”. I will treasure it.

My special appreciation to Shannon and Hiro for making the ranch available. It was an ideal location. And giant appreciation to Christie, Mike, Mosey, Marty, and all the names I haven’t listed here who did a lot of work to make it all go so well. The meals were great; all the arrangements well thought out.

The most significant impression I walked away with this weekend was that every person I met is their own person in a big way! Each person was very individual and real! I enjoyed everyone I met. While I do consider wholeheartedly that we nearing a tipping point with the Independents, I want to let you all know that you soulfully contributed to a beautiful tipping point for me personally.

This was undoubtedly THE best event I have EVER attended and a great 4th of July celebration.

I was excited beyond words to be going – really looking forward to it! I was thrilled with every minute with every person and every comm cycle. I hooked up with some old friends and met a lot of new ones that are alive unlike the facades of our former lives in the Co$.

Overall, I made new postulates, new plans for my future, and I KNOW I have real help if I run into any snags from Indie friends. With that, I am rich with real comm lines.

I thank everyone who did all the hard work to put it together – I am very grateful. I heard of many future plans of greatness regarding using LRH tech to help people get along better and do better in life. It was all so theta and I am so proud to be a part of this group. I enjoyed it beyond measure.

Good point, Lynne.
There’s good work for us to do in the coming months and years, while not dropping out what we are already doing.
At least, one of Ron’s greatnesses was to keep leaving behind completed cycles of tech, where he beautifully summarised what he had fully developed, before rushing off into the the next cycle.

It’s interesting that throughout his career he kept having to go back to restore ‘lost’ tech, and all the while finding out why it had dropped out.

Auditors are the the best beings on the planet, but we can audit at many levels, and maybe the most crucial levels are the lowest ones, requiring the most basic of skills.

I personally believe that it’s the most basic tech of life that produces the broadest results. From my own experience, the results of applying basic tech has been staggering, reaching further into the community than I had confront for. There are problems that come from this as well. And that has always been for me, the hardest part: when you do something so obviously useful, why should there be a problem?
Yup, you got it.
Anyway, I know a lot more about this particular phenomenon nowadays.

For one thing, being on your own is tough. And since the church (ptuuth) is such a waste of time, it’s so nice to have friends – yay!

So yes, there’s work to do, but at least I can do what I know, and that’s quite a bit. It may be basic, but it’s way, way more than we ever had before.

I’ve digressed from your checksheet point, Lynne, sorry.

My husband Brad, or as he is known on facebook “Stud Muffin”, and I had a fantastic time at the party. My hat is off to our lovely hosts who worked so hard to make this happen. It was so much fun to visit with friends and make SO MANY new ones!

The Stud Muffin and I enjoyed Texas, but more so the people we spent time with. We look forward to doing this again next year, though I vote for a location that isn’t so damn hot 😉 Love to you all!

Thought-provoking, Grasshopper. One of my former in-laws’ friends was a Jewish couple who had owned a department store in Germany in 1939. The husband was convinced that Hitler would not put him into a concentration camp because he was a German veteran of the first World War. Wrong, they took his department store and put him and his wife and son into the camps right away.
Luckily his wife had a brother living in Seattle. At the beginning of the camps, a person could be “bought out” by a relative with a work visa and passage out of the country. The relative did this for the three of them. They would certainly not have survived the camps for five more years…
This man had some great stories about the German side in WW One. (Not happy ones, just educational.) I wish I had gotten him to let me record all of them.
The more we learn about life on this planet, the more it appears that war is a wrong solution, caused by those who want to see strife instead of happiness.

The reference to the Guadeloup may seem odd to place on the Indies search for ‘true data’ blog (OTIX briefifing room) wuth the Texan connection or not.
The real interest is the way certain people have ‘changed history’ to lose such an important and large pair of ships!!
Texas ‘joined’ the Union shortly after and Britain was left with an embarrassing position (re supply of advanced secret ships to Mexico to be used against Texans)
The very existence of these development ships, in battle 20 years before such ships ‘existed’ is almost erased from history and is still not known by many historians to this day! (see wiki entry for First Ironclad ships and notice dates!!)
If not for the Indies Standard Tech could have gone the same way, , ‘written out of history’ to a changed reality!
