Surviving the Scientology Summit

Don’t know how on earth we survived.Β  But, we somehow managed.

  1. You’ll have to come to Alaska someday for further adventure, a different species of fish.

  2. Roughin’ it. Texas style.

  3. HaHa! πŸ˜€ Surviving in abundance, me thinks! Sweeeeeet!

  4. Yes you did, remarkably well, prepared for anything and with a bay for a back yard! Is the pup a Shiba Inu by chance?

  5. It sure looks like you did!
And a lot of us survive better for it.
Thanks for all you’re doing, Marty, Mosey, Mike, et al.

  6. DId Shreff of Arabia get around to schooling you in a round of golf? πŸ™‚

    Dedicated to Shreff:

  7. Because you are resilient and are enjoying freedom. And with freedom comes connecting with good people … and of course, fishing!

  8. threefeetback

No wonder the DeMon is getting antsy.

  9. Sweet!!
Don’t forget to report your stats before thursday at 2:00!!

Looking for news of the Scientology Summit I just found this:

“Tabloid tales: Cruise ‘gets special treatment’,
LAST UPDATED AT 12:30 ON Tue 2 Oct 2012
TOM CRUISE has angered fellow Scientologists because he is in contact with his daughter, Suri. Normally, members of the church are forbidden from contacting anyone who has left Scientology, including loved ones. But Cruise has been accused of receiving “special treatment” because, despite Suri and her mother leaving the controversial church, its leaders have allowed the actor to see and talk to his daughter. According to the Daily Mail, the heads of the church have “bent the rules” for Cruise because of “who he is”. Other Scientology members are said to be upset because there is “One rule for Cruise and one rule for everyone else”

    Interesting…if it’s true.

Do not tell me there was an Oilslick somewhere. πŸ™‚

  12. it’s a tough job man.

  13. Summit: noun: 3.b. A conference or meeting of high-level leaders, usually called to shape a program of action.

I wonder what is this blog post: A teasing or a mystery sandwich?

  14. Edward Kemper

it was obviously the vicious attack dog that helped you guys through!!!

  15. martyrathbun09

Jason Beghe swears she is. Original vet at shelter where I sprung her seven years ago said she is chi-chow (chihauhau and chow-chow). Local vet swears she’s got Welsh Corgi. My read, she’s unique, the melting pot and center of the universe.

  16. threefeetback

Has Tom petitioned for a separation from his manwife?

  17. You two look great, Marty! Nancy says hello to you both.

  18. The pictures in the article indicate that it is.

  19. martyrathbun09

Hey! Great to hear from you both.

  20. Tory Christman

Without Mosey, many great friends, your dog and fishing, I doubt you would have made it, Marty. And in that order, too. πŸ™‚ Please make another video w/ Mike where you’re fishing and sharing stories. I loved that. Also, our first one like that (although we weren’t fishing) is called “OT’s Speaking Freely” done in Greg Barnes’ house in 2000. It was quite a shock to realize what we all thought was “Standard tech” wasn’t at all, any more. Keep FISHING! πŸ™‚

  21. Thank Gawd for fishing poles to lean on when it is THAT rough!!!!:)
    Greta

  22. I have to agree on Shiba Inu. Corgi has straighter tail and larger ears compared to head size, chow is a bigger dog. What she is does not matter so much as who she is – your friend, unique and the center of the universe. πŸ™‚

  23. martyrathbun09

That settles it. Chiquita meets all characteristics in spades.

  24. Great seeing people I admire, respect and love so much having such fun in each other’s company. I can feel the insouciance.

  25. AND!!! Shannon, notice the fly rod!!!

    Hah πŸ™‚

  26. one of those who see

Great Pix of happy free people in Texas!!! I haven’t been reading and writing here as often as before because I am working all day and going in session at night!!!!!!! With Indie Auditor and C/S of course. But wanted to drop in for a moment. How nice to see the great pictures. Love you guys!

  27. How dare you have fun when life is so serious?

I can feel the theta all the way here.

  28. I think these words inspired by Tom Cruise may be appropriate:

It’s a tough job but some one has to do it. Hell I’d like to go and like have fun. I’d like to, you know, go on holiday and things. And have fun. But I know, I know what has to be done. And it needs to be done. Man. And there’s no time for fun, not if you’re serious. And I am serious about this. And I think every one should be serious. This is planetary salvage. That’s what it’s all about.

I wouldn’t hessitate to put ethics in on someone because, you know, I put ethics in on myself. Ruthlessly. And if you’re not in it then you’re out. And if your in it then you’d better know what you’re doing. And if you don’t know then, then you’d better. Find. Out. But if you don’t know don’t just, you know. Make sure you find out and do it.

And they were like, so, like, ‘have you met an SP?’ Hahahahahahahahahahahaha oh boy, and I like that’s a beautiful thing like. You know becuase may, one day, it will be like that, it’ll be oh yeah what SPs are they like in the history books? Hahahahahahahahaha, boy. But you know. They don’t do that in my arena. Because it’s not how to handle an SP. It’s Confront. Shatter. Suppress. Shatter and suppress. You don’t run away. Yes. They don’t do that in my arena. Or they’re out. Hahahahahahahaha.

    Then again, perhaps not. πŸ™‚

  29. Since we’re talking about having fun, I just started a digital painting course at an online school that is to-die-for fabulous, and if you don’t mind my mentioning them by name (I don’t get an FSM commission for this), the school is http://www.digitalartacademy.com

  30. +1

God! I hated that. I hated that when I was 15, and I hate that now. And I still don’t get the 2:00pm thing. But I have to thank God it was not Thursday at midnight, or I would never have been awake on Fridays!

  31. It Does Not Suck to be Indie!

  32. Mighty Miami

Marty, I admire the way you’ve weathered the storm against the Goliath, that is the Church of Micavigology. But it’s images like these that make me truly envy you, Lol. Enjoy.

  33. martyrathbun09

But, you need to ask Shreff what landed him a bull redfish before you go gloating about flies.

  34. martyrathbun09

Yvonne, are we counting Chiquita as ‘people’ now?

  35. For anyone who does not know Mark Shreffler, I think Robin Williams is basically channeling Shreff in his routine.

  36. Bury the Nuts

Tom is an extremely articulate man.
“dives off my chair into the worlds biggest facepalm”

  37. Romp and play! You have to mention the ‘romp and play’.

    Kills me.

  38. Power is the ability to maintain a position in space. –LRH, PAB 131

  39. Shreff is spreading the gospel of fishing with whippy sticks… πŸ™‚

  40. The reason behind 2:00 PM on Thursday was because that was the time that all reports sent to Saint Hill would be on board on Friday Morning.
All telex stats were decoded and applied to all org graphs and conditions applied before 11:AM. During the afternoon Programs would be issued
to raise conditions and handle any situations.By friday 6:PM if a Mission had to be sent to an Org anywhere this would be in the works. LRH programs were the best on creating expansion, MSH second.
Had there been the World Wide Web and high speed computers in the 60’s and 70’s this Planet would be Clear today.

  41. Now that is what it is all about!!! You guys look FANTASTIC!!!

  42. Next time bring Davey along so he can just jump in and wrestle the fish to the bottom.
I found this recent study interesting and wondered if he can smell anything at all?

  43. Great pics! Good times! Marty, do you count Chiquita as “people”? It’s an ongoing debate in my family as to whether animals have a real Being or not. I think they do. A lot of them are so intelligent, funny, loving, loyal – I know what LRH said about them being able to mimic a thetan/being, but I find that hard to think with. Any thoughts? Anybody?

  44. Really good to see Mark’s smiling face. He was my first exposure to the subject many years ago.

  45. Friends, fishing and dogs. What’s not to like?? Best to all of you.

  46. Good one, Bury the Nuts! Lol!!

  47. Wake up Tom!!! Snap fingers…counting 5-4-3-2-1 snap!

  48. Shoeless farmers with bleading feet brought down King George at Valley Forge in the dead of winter. Their most powerful weapon, an idea: Liberty.

  53. martyrathbun09

    She’s absolutely a thetan.

  54. Wow, that is WAY too many dynamics there!

  55. Tom Gallagher

Chiquita needs a boyfriend and that can only be my boy Fritz, a Schipperke. Best boat dog, as a breed, in the world. IMHO.

  56. Tom Gallagher

Not my video but at good representation.

  57. You want eloquence? TC must have taken lessons from this (the first half especially).

  58. There is a new tab up above on Martys blog called “INDEPENDENCE”. The purpose of this is to make it easier to help those still stuck in the corporate trap by having an easily accessible list for them to view all the vital info contained within those postings. They will see a vast quantity and quality of people that have declared Independence from DM’s Scientology, Inc. on Marty’s blog.

This is a work in progress and it will be updated monthly when I send the changes to Marty. If you would like to make changes to your info such as trng, processing level or other notable info, please email me toomoons@gmail.com. I’ve already noticed a couple of changes I need to make, so my apologies for that. I’m going thru the blog again from the beginning to make sure I didn’t miss anyone as I know I already have. Sorry it’s a huge blog. If you want to get on that list (the “A” List, lol) then send your Declaration to Marty as this only contains items posted on his blog.

Curtis Mayfield – Keep On Keeping On Lyrics

Everybody gather round and listen to my song
    I’ve only got one

We who are young, should now take a stand
Don’t run from the burdens of women and men
Continue to give, continue to live
For what you know is right

Most of your life can be out of sight
Withdraw from the darkness and look to the light
    Where everyone’s free
At least that’s the way it’s supposed to be

We just keep on keeping on
We just keep on keeping on

Many think that we have blown it
But they too will soon admit
That there’s still a lot of love among us

And there’s still a lot of faith and warmth and trust
When we keep on keeping on

Before we dismiss, one thing I insist
When you have your young, remember this song
And our world surroundings, its leaps and bounds
    Ups and downs, is reality

Teach them to be strong, and when they are grown
They can proudly imply that we were an alright guy
For all the wrong now is right
This nation’s people are now united as one

And we just keep on keeping on
We just keep on keeping on

Many think that we have blown it
But they too will soon admit
That there’s still a lot of love among us

And there’s still a lot of faith, warmth, and trust
When we keep on keeping on

    Keep on keeping on, ya’ll
Keep on, keep on, keep on, keep on
    Keep on, keeping on
    (Keep on, keeping on)

We got to move on up, ya’ll
(We got to move on up)
Keep on, keep on, keep on, keep on, keep on

    Some years back I remember
Still in my mind so well
    My mama made this [Incomprehensible]
And I found it never fails

    Never worry too long
    (Worry too long)
    About what goes on
    (About what goes on)
    Today it’s sorrow
    (Today it’s sorrow)
    Look like joy tomorrow
    (Look like joy tomorrow)

    Keep on keeping on
    (Keep on keeping on)
    Keep on, keep on
    (Keep on, keep on)

We just keep on keeping on
We just keep on keeping on

Many think that we have blown it
But they too will soon admit
That there’s still a lot of love among us

And there’s still a lot of faith, warmth, and trust
When we keep on keeping on

    Ooh ooh ooh ooh
    (Ooh ooh ooh ooh)

    We’re gonna move on up
    (We’re gonna move on up)

    Keep on keeping on
    (Keep on keeping on)
    Move on, move now
    (Move on, move now)
    Keep on keeping on
    (Keep on keeping on)

  62. She is PURE Chiquita!

  63. No doubt πŸ™‚

    But, what about this?

“Fly fishing is the most fun you can have standing up” Arnold Gingrich. ( I couldn’t find anything by Siddhartha, but that’s only because he didn’t write stuff down.)

  64. Marty, I agree with Tory. Love to you all.

  65. That video sums up the breed. I made the mistake with Koty to let him have his puppyhood pretty much uncontested, boy was that a mistake. For 15 1/2 years it was always something… center of the universe indeed πŸ™‚

  66. Great photos! Love it when you guys walk/ stand/ sit on water!

  67. DM is TC’s scriptwriter-thats why I go -what the hell did he just say?

  68. If the label fits, wear it. Yes, there is too much love, intelligence and spontaneous expression in Chiquita. In my opinion, a thetan being a four-legged viewpoint.

  69. No need for a justification for celebrating life and the joy of friendship other than just that.

  70. Marty and All,

You see the result power of the postulate, standard tech, admin and ethics produce the desired result of freedom.

One may look at LRH and the data of Dianetics and Scientology as research, discovery and application or, as most who do not know the correct data, as something fabricated.

The fact is that LRH wrote, lectured and developed processes on data each and every one of us innately knows. We know all already. That is why we have cognitions on the data and processing.

    Reference: 20th ACC First Postulate.

I am overjoyed with the accomplishments and successes all are having.

The only way out is through and we all have a ways to go.

    My Best Wishes,

    Gunner

    ARC/KRC

  71. Hapexamendios

Those videos were real eye-openers for me. Kudos to you guys for making them.

  72. Who is the guy in the first photo?

  73. John 'Michael' Finley

For those of us who do, you couldn’t be more correct.
    BTW, YOU GUYS LOOK GREAT!

  74. A first class MUTT of the very best kind! I can see how your vet might swear by Welsh Corgi by color, shape and size, but I’m with Jason’s swearing on this one. And we all know he is a first class, m’er f’ing swearer! πŸ˜€

    Nancy

  75. My colleague/mentor makes fun of me on this account: I start with the fly rod, and then when I get hungry, out comes the spinner!

  76. Hmm, I smell something fishy! BAHAHAAAA!

  77. martyrathbun09

Is that Newt’s thinner, more liberal brother?

  78. Caught that, Jimmy.

And now we know what he landed with it!

  79. Jim,

Obviously, YOU would have caught something with it. But then again, you and the fish have an understanding.

  80. martyrathbun09

Scheff couldn’t get me on that fly rod!! NO Way No How!! Mosey from Martys computer

  81. Good on ya’ Marty.

I’ve been wanting to see some evidence of you taking a breather and just going out to have some fun.

Hopefully we’ll see some more of those fishin’ & dishin’ posts again in the near future too. Those were really fun.

  82. Here here, Jim!
I lend no excuse to these proceedings in defense of fly-fishers except to say that it is inappropriate to upstage ones’ hosts when they are performing so spectacularly in all other arenas. I just hope they will extend the same courtesy to me when they visit in New Mexico (on my native waters) – but do not expect the same standard of hosting as they did with us in Corpus Christie. It was truly a thing of beauty.

  83. That is really cool. Great idea. A lot of people announced their independence in the comments of other posts as well, and that list is probably just as long.

What a great bunch of people!

    Mark Patterson

  84. Hey man, don’t laugh. That looks like some serious fishing!

  85. That’s a good question. Why was this a summit? Well, What I reckon is that we are all independents, and each of us stands on our own summit. A meeting of four independants is a summit of four. We gathered to discover what these other independants are doing and what they are hearing when they listen to other summits. In fact, we are all gathered on this blog of Summits to hear what others have to offer in terms of possible games for the future. From this we find agreements and make alliances and the future is formed. We all use the same clay, but how many worlds can we make with our associated talents? What’s your idea, MaBu?

  86. I love MSH almost as much as Ron. Mary Sue was awesome. As I said before, Mary Sue was the yin to Ron’s yang, and things were flying when they worked together.

It should be noted that Scientology churches ALWAYS had strong women staff and executives. My mother was KOT of ASHO D in 1975 and 1976, along side Leslie Epstein, who was LRH Comm. You had Eunice Ford at ASHO who was as stable as a rock and was present at the DC raids. You had Anne Pfanner who was the iron lady of qual at ASHO. You had Yvonne Jentzch who was the definition of theta. Karen de la Carriere needs no introduction. Mimi Rogers was the Class VIII sup for a while as I recall, when she was a non-SO kid. Linda Darlington, Class VI practical sup at ASHO D, who was awesome (and drove a TR-3). I can string a long, long list of names of strong women in Scientology. When the US was going through the whole glass ceiling thing (that still exists today), women in Scientology were running the show.

It is easy to overlook this, but it is truly an amazing story.

  87. Hey Wendy! Mosey was taking the pictures so it was easy to smile. Very Well Done to you on your new website! It’s beautiful!

  88. Hooya, Belle! You just made me smile again! Now you have the tech to run out the first time I exposed myself to you!

  89. Known by many names from Manhattan to Long Island and from Houston to Corpus Christie. He is a mild-mannered if tattered hitchhiker taken in by Mosey and Mark and fed and fished and sent on his way, better for the experience. He is… The Traveler. Goes by ‘Shreff’ with his friends and his name appears on golden paper in the Church as Mark Shreffler, Suppressive Person.

  90. “If the label fits, wear it.” lol Theta animates life.

BTW, question… HYLBTL isn’t in print anymore… seriously? Maybe it’s been a while since I noticed, but I didn’t realize that.

  91. Are those grounding rods you are holding?

  92. See the Robin Williams clip above.

  93. Thanks for not posting his “Pusherman” song. I survived one year by buying vitamin B12 pills (small cylinder shaped vitamins back then) and painting them orange with a magic marker and selling them at Madison Square Garden as “Orange Sunshine” to rich kids coming in from Connecticut to see concerts.
Yes, I got used to them coming back to buy more. I couldn’t figure it out, but I got used to it. At 14 years old making over 2 grand a night selling beat Orange Sunshine and giving people vitamins instead of drugs I really thought I had it going on.

  94. Did I mention I was living this way because my mother disconnected from me?

  95. Whatever, I made it go right, right?

  96. Does this handle the latest threats I have received to publish my P.C. info on the net? I published it myself. Yes, my first origination to the examiner after going exterior on OTTRO was, “I feel like I just shot a bag of dope”.

Yes, it’s true. All of my profits went for smack. My mother threw me out of the house at 14 because I said something negative about Scientology.

Yes I ended up on smack. Yes I hustled to survive as a result. Yes then I got into Scientology and worked another four years to pay for and get through a drug rundown and finally cleaned it all up. My thoughtless remark about Scientology consumed six years of my childhood and I finally came around and threw myself at your feet.

    I walked the walk.

I have viewed it from every angle.

If you people in the Church want to take on me, well , sorry. I’m over it under it and through it. Still getting bitch slapped by Pierre Ethier and his wife publishing false reports about me on the Internet, brother please!

    Baby you don’t know what it’s like…. I know.

I do KNOW what the real treasure is. When you mock up a game where love is discounted, you have a VERY ABBERATED GAME.

  97. It is obvious to me that David Miscavige does not know what it is like, to love somebody. Take everything else out of the equation, this is a bad sign. We see him as an oppressor, when he is a fucking handicap.

  98. At some point he made a decision to be blind. Why should that be MY fucking problem?

  99. You ain’t got to be so blind!

  100. Hubbard KNEW what it was like to love somebody.
Otherwise he could not have bought the comfort and knowledge that he did.
    Hubbard loved.
This is where the distance between him and Miscavige grows great.
    Hate to say it.
    Hubbard loved.
    Miscavige hated.

  101. David, You just don’t know what it’s like, to love somebody.
You are handicapped. How awful. Maybe I can bring people who have a heart, to let it go by with some final understanding. I actually am starting to feel sorry for you in the same way I would feel for any handicap. You do qualify in that it went so long un noticed and even applauded by other sadistic people behind you…Who also never knew what it was like to love someone. The Nazi mentality.

Geeze just when the victims think they have a case, they have to face the fact they have been dealing with people who have not been gifted with a heart. Right out of Wizard of Oz.

  102. I understand. You ARE holding it, so that’s good. Gradients. Reach and Withdraw. Hello and OK. Eventually…

  103. My mother grew up in Montana, on those amazing trout rivers. When I’d finally come to the fly rod, and started to catch lots of trout (dog eating Sea Run Browns and Brookies in Nova Scotia) and would put them back!!! she was completely nonplussed. It wouldn’t compute.

Then I got to yard long Atlantic Salmon and it’s all Catch and Release, well, this made NO sense to her.

    Spinning gear is just fine.

    It’s fun, for beginners πŸ™‚

  104. Yes Scotty. We do, every now and then. Irish mythology says Atlantic Salmon spring from the Well of Knowledge and enter the river for us to gain.

Now, I’m outta here as the run is on, it’s October, and the rain finally came, it’s cool, it’s fall and the Leaper, Salmo Salar, awaits for my barbless fly on 6 lb test.

  105. πŸ™‚ I thought so!

  106. Thanks for the reference SKM! Just the ammo I need to foil the doubters! And a good idea for next life time πŸ™‚ . Think I might be a cat for one of these fishermen and eat the daily spoils πŸ™‚

  107. martyrathbun09

    Mild-mannered?

  108. Thanks Dan. Too Funny! My wife just got back from Scotland and says they don’t all talk like that, but I’ve been there a few times and will attest some do!

  109. Unfortunately, I’m unable to provide a link to a comment for people to review, so it is my hope they’ll send Marty something he can post it so I can add them to the list.

  110. Betsy, if you click on the date on a comment, it provides a link to the comment…

    Example: https://markrathbun.wordpress.com/2012/10/03/surviving-the-scientology-summit/#comment-231178

  111. How did you survive the lofty and hazardous summit?! Well, because you built a damned fine, STRONG bridge, of course!! Wonderful to see such happy pictures. And, might I say, the EVER-lovely Mosey and Chiquita are looking particularly beautiful in these pretty pictures.

The right and honest path is never easy. But you’re most-DEFINITELY on the right track.

    Keep strong; keep smiling.

    Love to all,
    IEG xxx

  112. Hehe! Gotta be a beginner at some things!

I bet I would like your mother. I will admit, I’m with your mom on the Catch and Release, although I do understand the aesthetic of the sports angler. I do not share the intensity of the arguments from either camp (predator angler vs. sports angler) although I get a DO kick out of the debate if you want to play: Why harass the fish with a hook (even if it’s barbless) if you’re not going to put the catch on the table to feed yourself and/or your family?

Of course, the same argument exists among trophy game hunters and those putting food on the table, but the trophy hunter cannot fall back on Catch and Release to gain the moral upper hand. You can’t pull a bullet from the lungs the way you can pull a barbless hook from the gills.

And the argument isn’t nearly as important to me and the joy of having you poke fun at me for resorting to spinning gear! πŸ˜€

    Nancy

  113. There’s an Eskimo legend along the same line.

  114. Does this mean my daughter gets to speak to me?

  115. Thank you for your answer. You handled completely my questions. Due to security, I did not expect many details.

It’s good to have these summits in a high tone environment! πŸ™‚

  116. Ok,that’s cool! There is no way I am going to be able to read through all the comments to find those who announced their departure that way however what I’ll do is put out a request to those that announced in that manner to let me know when they did it so I can search them that way. Unless there is a way to name search, I could try that. Do you know the name of someone who announced their departure that way so I can do a quick search to see what I come up with? Then I’ll coordinate with Marty as I know he likes to attach a picture to the name.

  117. Aside from the face, she looks exactly like a Shiba Inu–but the face gives away that it is a mixed breed. Also, pure-bred Shiba Inus *hate* water! However, on seeing a quick clip of the dog running into the water at a distance, I thought “Shiba” right away–the tail is a giveaway.

I am surprised by the Animal Planet profile, it gets lots of stuff wrong. Shibas can be trained easily–our Shiba, Ponta, knows and can perform without problem more than 25 different tricks, and is easy to train. What they mean to say is that the Shiba cannot be trained to obey *reliably*, and will easily ignore you when they are not in the mood (usually, when food is not present). Also, the video says they require “occasional” brushing as they shed when it is warm. HA! Shiba Inus blow their coats twice a year (one of those often being in late fall or winter when it is cold), and the amount of fur produced over a 3-month blow is overwhelming. Without constant grooming, your house will become buried in fur. (See http://shiba.me)
