Bullshit, She was talking about the way scientology spins the belief in past lives.

  2. I think this is a good example of Leah’s personal opinion/interpretation being promoted to the public as some kind of “fact”. Having partially grown up in the Far East(Japan), I can state that family relationships are very important and meaningful to the Japanese people. So much so, one of their solemn major festivals, held every summer, called the “O Bon” is about communing with their ancestors, who are thought and felt to come and visit with the living at that time. Clearly, a belief in past lives or the eternal existence of the spirit does not necessarily imply a lack of concern for the family, no matter if it’s spun that way by some scientologists, which it may be. There is evidence in his own writings that Hubbard did promote a perspective that may have diminished the importance of the family in some ways. I can’t speak to whether or not the Church as a whole has adopted this perspective. I suspect the Sea Org may have, but I don’t know that for sure.

  3. When Leah says that in Scientology “Your mother is really not your mother. They put little significance on any interpersonal relationships, family members, and the same with marriage,” she is probably repeating what reg’s and recruiters tell people in order to “handle” their considerations regarding relationships – which might keep them from giving more money than they should for services or pure donations, or keep them from joining staff.

The only reference I know of that they might be using (if any) is from the book Child Dianetics: “A child is a man or a woman who has not attained full growth” – which they misinterpret to fit their purposes. Here’s the context of that quote:
    ——————————-
“Children are not dogs. They can’t be trained as dogs are trained. They are not controllable items. They are, and let’s not overlook the point, men and women. A child is not a special species of animal distinct from Man. A child is a man or a woman who has not attained full growth.

“Any law which applies to the behavior of men and women applies to children.

“How would you like to be pulled and hauled and ordered about and restrained from doing whatever you wanted to do? You’d resent it. The only reason a child ‘doesn’t’ resent it is because he’s small.”
    ———————————

I would say Leah herself was “brainwashed” to the degree that she (like manyof us) bought into things she was told without looking for herself. She’s doing the same thing now, in that one of the anti-Scientology party lines is the idea that there is no such thing as past lives. I’ve seen it repeated many times as part of an attempt to refute the spiritual basis of Scientology. She has apparently bought into that too, among other party lines.

  4. “There is evidence in his own writings that Hubbard did promote a perspective that may have diminished the importance of the family in some ways.”

He wasn’t nearly as radical as Jesus. From Luke 14:25-27 Easy-to-Read Version (ERV):

“25 Many people were traveling with Jesus. He said to them, 26 ‘If you come to me but will not leave your family, you cannot be my follower. You must love me more than your father, mother, wife, children, brothers, and sisters—even more than your own life! 27 Whoever will not carry the cross that is given to them when they follow me cannot be my follower.'”

Brian has been forwarding a line for years about LRH being anti-family and even did a blog post about it on Mike’s not too long ago. He quotes yet again a reference where LRH said “the GE is a family man.” I got that he meant the GE was more into families than thetans, but Brian interprets it to mean LRH was completely against families – ignoring the fact that a basic of Scientology is the 2nd dynamic.

  5. It is one example of times when Leah has struck a false note, interpreting something about scientology. I think, as many newly out people do, she grasps at straws to fill the voids left by the shaking of her previously stable data, and accepts or at least repeats evaluations fed to her by others.

  6. You sound a bit snarky about Brian. 🙂 Brian tends to excesses and absolutes.

She is a moron, George. What Leah Remini says nobody in or out of Scientology says/said except the few people in the Rinder/Remini/Ortega cult.

Leah Remini and Mike Rinder are no smart people who lie into the faces of viewers and are telling them wrong stories.

Your mother and father are always your parents as a Scientologist. Your children are always your children. Your siblings are always siblings. Except if you are Mike Rinder…

A Scientologist believes in past lives and had other parents but they all were his parents and he respects them. It is even in the Way to Happiness Booklet that Scientologists are passing out.

    AND THEY MEAN IT.

    Remini and Rinder are frauds!

Tony Ortega is upset because his own Bunker cult is now questioned. Some of his readers are believing his rubbish on Scientology and they learn suddenly another side of the story.

Reporters can no longer publish apostates lies. Now they have to do DEEP research to get to the truth. And if they fail to do the proper research, it will come back to bite ’em.

    That is good news.

  9. The Village Voice was converted into a human trafficking criminal enterprise. Tony Ortega lived off the money of sex trafficking, much of it from minors, for almost six years. This is not gossip, and I am not the first to mention it. It is in a Senate investigation report.
    https://www.hsgac.senate.gov/subcommittees/investigations/reports
It has been written about by media watchdog sites.
    http://thedailycannibal.com/2012/09/11/the-voice-loves-children-really/
    http://gawker.com/5860101/pickets-lawsuits-sex-ads-and-hard-times-at-the-village-voice
    http://gawker.com/5642182/village-voice-has-a-child-prostitution-problem
When confronted about it Tony Ortega first denied it, then used the Village Voice to decimate any other journalists who mentioned it. And finally, turned on the victims trafficked there and worked to dehumanize them by calling them “underage prostitutes”. Not children, which they were. There is no such thing as an “underaged prostitute”. Minors who are forced into sexual slavery are not “underage prostitutes”. He tried to poison people against his victims! CHILDREN.
The college he graduated from invited him back to receive an award, with the purpose of motivating students. When he arrived they were out front protesting him. And on this video you hear his acceptance speech, he only talks about himself and then gaslights the students out front by saying “they don’t understand”.

The Village Voice founder’s son even protested in New York in front of Tony Ortega’s office.

With protestors surrounding the building, Tony Ortega denied he had anything to do with Backpage to a reporter at the Gawker.
“As for the protests today, I wish them the best of luck. No one who actually works in this office has anything to do with Backpage, but still, I understand why they picked our building.” Tony Ortega Nov 16, 2011
A blatant lie. He gaslighted anyone who caught on to what he was doing, how he was doing it, bringing his victims to light, exposing him for working as a digital pimp.
A few months earlier he was bragging about Backpage and included himself as one of the managers with a “WE”. And actually tried to change the conversation to wars in Afganistan!
“Our wars in Iraq and Afghanistan are receding fast from public consciousness. Our economy is gradually crawling back. Crime remains at record lows. A new presidential campaign is only in its earliest stages.
What’s there to panic about today?”
“Seven years ago, the people I work for were smart enough to start Backpage.com, a competitor to Craigslist. While other newspapers were doing little more than publicly condemning Newmark (Note: Craig Newmark is an American Internet entrepreneur best known for being the founder of the San Francisco-based international website Craigslist.) for the way Craigslist has, for years, eaten into their classified-ads revenue, we decided to fight back. That’s just how we operate.
What happens when two adults find each other through Backpage.com? I couldn’t tell you. The whole point of Backpage.com is that we aren’t involved after two consenting adults find each other through the community bulletin board, which exists solely so that people can freely express themselves—sometimes in ways that make other people uncomfortable. We’re First Amendment extremists that way. Always have been.”
Tony Ortega WEDNESDAY, JULY 6, 2011
Attorneys general from 48 states had written a joint letter to Village Voice Media, pleading with it to get out of the flesh trade. An online petition at Change.org had gathered 94,000 signatures asking Village Voice Media to stop taking prostitution advertising. Instead, the company used The Village Voice to mock its critics. One victim who gave a news interview said she thought about using her real name for the article but decided not to for fear that Village Voice would retaliate. The victims became afraid of the Village Voice.

“I helped turn a weekly newspaper with a web site into a digital enterprise.” Tony Ortega bragged to the New York Times Blog Media Decoder on September 14, 2012 after leaving the Village Voice.
His sadistic disregard for children being raped and trafficked for personal income is revolting. Senate investigations revealed Backpage staff were even coaching pimps on how to word ads so they would not get busted selling minors!
    http://www.azcentral.com/story/news/local/phoenix/2017/04/15/emails-reveal-how-backpage-edited-sex-ads-will-it-be-its-undoing/100436762/
And when they were finally caught red handed, coaching men on how to sell children for sex, they did shut down right before they had to appear in court in Washington. And played the victim card. “Their Freedom of Speech” was being violated.

When Amber Lyon did her expose “Selling The Girl Next Door”, which focused on backpage, Tony Ortega gaslighted her and devoted a page in the Village Voice to decimating her.
“Underage prostitution is a persistent problem in this country, but as we established in last week’s cover story, it exists at a level that is nothing like what is being trumpeted by Amber Lyon on the behalf of activists who want to put us out of business.” Tony Ortega
Again he tries to dehumanize children being raped and sold by calling them “underage prostitutes” and says THEY are the problem. Sadistic disregard.
    https://www.villagevoice.com/2011/07/06/cnns-amber-lyon-ambushed-craigslist-but-she-wont-talk-to-the-village-voice/
His attack on Amber Lyon was so vicious other news outlets wrote about it.

I do not understand why he has become a crusader for disappointed hippies that explored the occult. But Leah Remini has followed in his footsteps.
Apparently, she can live with children being raped and sold on the Internet and endorse a notorious child sex trafficker, Tony Ortega, while complaining abuse between adults that explored the occult. And so can Lawrence Wright and Alex Gibney. And anyone else complaining they got a flat tire on the way to Nirvana while tolerating and endorsing Tony Ortega.
As far as Tony Ortega getting other media to pick up his blog posts and spread them, during interviews with former Village Voice staff and former peers, one mentioned the media no longer repeats Tony Ortega’s blogging as since he has only been able to write about one topic besides defending Backpage in over a decade, he is understood as manifesting high-functioning autism / afflicted with Asperger Syndrome.
I’m sorry but I can not start giving discount points to men who profit off the misery of women and children and survive on the proceeds of children being exploited, raped and sold on the Internet. Whatever their condition is. They are still criminals.
I have no idea why he and Leah Remini are comfortable with that yet repelled by adults who chose to explore the occult and were disappointed.
Something does not add up in this picture. How can you have compassion for people disappointed exploring the occults and sadistic disregard for children being tortured?

  10. Gotta laugh at Mike’s faux concern about the children while remaining in Back Page Tony’s orbit. Can we say HYPOCRISY!

  11. The poster My 2 Cents called Brian a “PR operative,” and that’s exactly how I see him. On the other hand, I’d like to be more compassionate towards him, because he probably thinks he’s doing something good (like all of us), It’s just too much like a propaganda “operation.” He’s an artist and has a way with words, but he’s trying to analyze things that are out of his depth, IMO. I like his posts about spirituality, the rare few that aren’t endlessly bashing LRH. Anyway, just my snarky opinion. 🙂

At the beginning of the end, the honest and just stood against the dishonest and unjust. The fair and caring stood against the cold and demonic. Then, the “anti-Scientologist” identity was formed, and it filled in an identity gap. They turned against Scientologists. Be they good or bad, fair or unfair. It didn’t matter. Then they became dishonest and unjust, and now they cover up for the criminals. My my how time goes by. And Marty is now the demon, for staying the same. Being a constant. Speaking out about injustice, standing up for what is right. Speaking the truth. Being fair-minded.Earth is a place where everyone is given enough rope to hang them self. Not all go gently into the night as they wrap the noose around their neck. They kick and spit and stab. Scream and wound. The rope swings violently. They become ugly and foul mouthed.

Let them go at it. What person at peace with themselves rushes the gallows to hang themselves? It is terrible to see but it is a personal choice. And you did not cause it, and either did anyone else. This is just a personal decision. The greatest harm to the greatest number. People need to justify the harm they bring onto themselves too. It is a ritual. Not everyone is going to go that way. It simply means you choose not to hang yourself. Maybe next week. Maybe never. For me, never. For most others, never. And I know for Marty, never. And that is a good thing for the people that need him. And he is a valuable asset to Earth. As are many of us.

“If you want a happy ending, that depends of course, on where you stop the story”. Orson Wells

We are not all destined to have the same ending.

Show me a group that survives more than a generation, and I will hang myself.

Show me a being that lasts forever and I will show you something new. It is not the being that survives through a group. It is a group that survives through a being. But not a being grabbing at a rope thrown out to hang himself.

Marty, and friends, you taught me some valuable lessons.

Thank you for the love that made learning possible. I will pay it forward. I promise you.

  13. Marty, David Miscavige needs to be aware of a particular OT8 by the name of Rick Melrose that used the past lives thinking as a final straw to manipulate my son, Jeremy to disconnect from me. Jeremy did not want to disconnect from me so Mr. Melrose called him in to the San Jose Mission because Melrose was the Chaplain for our family situation. Rick Melrose told my son that he has lived many life times and that I’m JUST his mom this life time. And that Scientology is his eternity so this was the tactic used to get my son to disconnect from me.

I just want my kids back! I just want to be their mom! This Disconnection needs to stop so all of us suffering from disconnection can be a family again!

  14. Thank you Marildi, that’s kind of you.

  15. I’m so sorry that happened to you. People can say what they want but they don’t understand the bond between mother and child.
