On DM’s Behavior

There has been some discussion concerning why people continue to listen to Miscavige when his actions are so contrary to those of a real Scientologist.

Even those who have left wonder why it took them so long to come to their senses. And then when they have seen the light, they ponder how it is that so many others continue – in the face of overwhelming evidence – to act like lemmings.

There are many reasons why people don’t just walk away – Sea Org members make an eternal commitment to forwarding the Aims of Scientology and to leave the Sea Org appears to be a betrayal of LRH; many have family members who would disconnect if they left; others have no experience in the outside world and don’t know how they will make a living; and the biggest threat of all looms large to those on the inside – the apparent loss of their eternity.

But still, it is puzzling how people can witness the most brutal and demeaning actions carried out by DM and not come to their senses.

LRH gives an answer in PAB 13 ON HUMAN BEHAVIOR, written in 1953.

It is a briefing to auditors on the importance of knowing the most aberrated and most aberrative types of personality.

In this PAB, LRH says:

What we will call the aberrative personality does the following things:

1. Everything bad that happened to the preclear was (a) ridiculous, (b)

unimportant, (c) deserved.

2. Everything the preclear and others did to the aberrative person was (a)

very important, (b) very bad, (c) irremediable.

3. Those things which the preclear could do (a) were without real value,

(b) were done better by the aberrative personality or by others.

4. Sexual restraint or perversion.

5. Inhibition of eating.

Anyone who has had the misfortune of dealing directly with David Miscavige will instantly recognize these characteristics. The constant negation of anyone around him, with vehement accusations that “everyone” is incompetent, and he is the “only one” that can do anything. His repeated refrain that people are “pretending” to be tired (after endless nights of little or no sleep trying to get his unreal orders done while he sleeps a full night every night – unless he chooses to stay up and then uses this to loudly proclaim how little sleep he is getting while “everyone else” is in bed asleep). He is often heard loudly proclaiming that the “incompetence” of all those around him is “literally killing him, by forcing him to work himself to death”. Should anyone protest or react to the indignities and suffering he doles out he accuses them of “dramatizing”. He repeatedly regales those around him with highly degraded and pornographic descriptions of their supposed sexual perversions, while claiming to be completely virtuous himself and sleeping in a separate bed from his wife to prove it (though others have noted his attraction to his Communicator Lou). He routinely orders others onto rice and beans for weeks or months on end, or even having them fed scraps in the Hole (which had to be paid for), while he eats a special diet and has a full time chef to cater to his desires.

This of course, is only a brief summation. One only need look at the many accounts in the media or on the internet for personal experiences of numerous individuals that cover each of the points 1 through 5 above in far more detail. And while the Church tries to claim that every one of them is a bald-faced liar and “nothing really happened to them” (though they never seem able to come up with a motivation for so many people lying – other than the bizarre allegation that Marty Rathbun and I are being paid by the pharmaceutical companies), there are numerous people who have observed the facts. And there is no doubt that there are dozens, if not hundreds, of others who would tell the same stories of their experiences if they weren’t being coerced into silence either by threat of disconnection from their families, loss of job or legal action being brought against them.

While there is much more in this PAB that describes Miscavige to a “T”, there are a few select passages that seem especially appropriate:

They speak very sternly of honesty or ethics and put on a formidable front of complete legality. They are impartial, which is to say they are incapable of decision but ride continually a maybe. They close terminals easily with courts, for courts are, sad to say, more or less of this disposition themselves. They feel called upon at no pretext to become adjudicative on subjects where their opinion has not been invited.

Anyone who has ever done the work on a project and had to get it approved by Miscavige recounts a familiar tale. And don’t doubt that he insisted on approving everything – anyone who attempted to take any action of significance in Scientology without his approval was accused of trying to “take over” and declared a Treasonous SP. Submissions he demands instantly one day then sit with him for days or weeks or even months (while rather than reviewing them, he spends hours berating people that he is too busy to be able to get all the work done that everyone forces on him). And when he does finally review the submission it is returned with a scathing reject informing the person that they are stupid, incompetent, suppressive and trying to destroy him by sending him a suppressive proposal. This can go on for months. It is one (though perhaps not the most important) of the reasons why the Super Power building has never been completed. Over 20 years there have been literally thousands of hours of staff and professional time (let alone money) putting together submissions to go to Miscavige that he didn’t approve.

Again, read the numerous accounts in the media and on the internet. It is a hallmark of Miscavige to demand that he approve everything, but refuse to accept any proposal that is made.

LRH goes on to say:

It will often be discovered by the auditor that the preclear has “swapped terminals” with these aberrative persons. The weight of aberration is such that the preclear has been swung into the valence of such people, for they have obviously won.

Virtually everyone around him eventually goes into his valence to one degree or another. And then having committed similar overts of their own, are far less likely to criticize what Miscavige does. This point doesn’t require much explication – just look at Tom Cruise.

It should be understood that anyone going down tone scale in moments of anger is apt to use the above-numbered steps one way or another. But this is a momentary thing; the above steps belong, of course, on the tone scale and are significant of a level on the tone scale. Thus, one going down tone scale into anger or into apathy, is inclined to use these operations momentarily. This is quite different from the aberrative personality. The aberrative personality is at work with this operation 24 hours a day.

Ceaselessly, relentlessly, calculatingly, with full knowingness, the aberrative personality continues this onslaught against those around him.

This is exactly what life around the Machiavellian Midget is like. It is all day long, ceaseless and relentless. And it doesn’t even stop after he goes to bed. Nobody secures until he retires to his private quarters, but many have experienced the nightmare of finally getting into bed, only to be woken up again for more harassment if Dear Leader was unable to sleep. Or he remembered something you had failed to comply with that he hadn’t berated you enough for during the day.

But, there is more. Ever wondered about his fixation on Idle Org buildings? Or his insistence that audio/visual replace real Scientologists in every Div 6 in the world? Or his need for dozens of expensive suits, luxury cars, exotic motorcycles, lavish living quarters?

…These people, being well downscale, are very close to MEST and have a very solid agreement with MEST.

Or, how about his bizarre fascination and compulsion to be with Tom Cruise? It goes beyond the MEST – his private jet and home in Telluride for skiing getaways etc etc. There is something more to it than that, as LRH describes:

Men in the field of the arts are very often victimized by these aberrative personalities. The “merchant of fear” closes terminals rapidly with any area which contains a great deal of admiration. … There is hardly a man of art or letters who does not bear on him the scar of having associated with a “merchant of fear,” for these are vampire personalities. They are themselves so starved of admiration and of sensation that they drink out of others around them any possible drop of admiration in any form. Where a woman becomes a “merchant of fear,” sexual starvation is continually attempting satiation and all the while the “merchant of fear” will protest and, to all visible signs, follow a life of complete celibacy.

But, in spite of all that, can you REALLY be sure that he is in fact an aberrative personality? LRH gives one sure fire way of telling:

Now in case you err and try to apply this classification too widely, there is one definite characteristic you must not overlook. This characteristic makes the difference between the aberrative personality and run-of-the-mill human beings. The secrecy computation is the clue. The best index to a secrecy computation is a refusal to be audited. Because of this factor of the secrecy computation, and for no other factor, it chances to follow that the aberrative personality can be known by his refusal to have any auditing of any kind, or, if he has any auditing, accepts it very covertly and will not permit it to have any effect upon him. He will not have a second session. He has all manner of excuses for this such as “altitude,” but in any way, shape or form he escapes auditing. If your preclear’s unwilling to be audited, he himself may fall into this classification.

One definite characteristic? Those who have been around DM know he refuses to be audited by ANYONE. He claims that everyone is out tech. Ray Mithoff, who LRH trusted as his auditor and senior technical terminal on the planet is unqualified and “criminally out tech” according to DM. What about all those people in RTC who decide who is or who isn’t an in-tech auditor and sit in judgment on the TRs and metering of every auditor on the planet. Surely they are qualified to audit Dear Leader? When Marty Rathbun was the highest official in RTC and was entrusted by DM to exclusively audit the top celebrities and VIPs, Marty had the temerity to suggest to Shelly Miscavige that maybe Dave might need a session since he was sick as a dog and that he would be happy to provide it. Shelly looked like a doe stuck in the headlights. From that point forward Marty, who up to that point could do no wrong in DM’s eyes – after bailing him out of a heap of trouble on numerous occasions – was a marked man. And, of course, there never was a session!

But, the point of this essay was to explain why people listen to this little monster. And LRH describes why this happens.

The society at large is so accustomed to association with MEST and the “merchant of fear” so closely approximates some of the characteristics of MEST—the maybe, for instance—that the public quite commonly misassigns strength to such aberrative personalities and thinks of them as strong people or as wise people. They are neither strong nor wise, and before an even indifferently forceful attack quickly capitulate. They live their whole lives in terror of attack.

And with all that said, there is one last, vitally important sentence that explains the phenomenon of DM:

Because justice in this society prides itself upon impartiality, these impartial people—the aberrative personalities—are quite often listened to by those around them.

Look at all the fawning lemmings who worship the private jet he flies in and the ground he drives his BMW on. They believe what he tells them, though it may be demonstrably untrue. They believe his stories of “massive”, “straight up and vertical” expansion. They believe he is “saving the tech” (from what it is always unclear – some “SPs” somewhere) and “carrying on LRH’s legacy.”

But, this too will come to pass. Every person who sees the truth and steps out of the shadow of this aberrative personality tips the scales a little more towards the end of the insanity and a return to a true Golden Age of Scientology where freedom of thought, action and belief once again reigns.

Why case gain is hard to come by in C of M

LRH from the State of Man lectures, January 1960, Washington D.C.:

An auditor-preclear situation is a third dynamic situation. That’s a third dynamic situation. And clearing a person starts right there in that auditing session. Now, any HCA can tell you better than I can — I think the number of the Auditor’s Code is 9, though, isn’t it? Isn’t that it? Whichever one it is. It’s “two-way comm must be established.” It’s a breach of the Auditor’s Code actually. We’ve had it with us for years. But what did this mean?

Well, this meant, essentially, that the preclear had to be willing to talk to the auditor. Well now, several things have to be guaranteed before this takes place. And one of the things that has to be guaranteed is that the preclear has some security in talking to the auditor that the information will not be falsely used. Isn’t that right?

audience: Yes.

So this leaves us with an organizational responsibility heavier and bigger than we have ever had in the past.  We’ve now got to go all out and make sure that a certificate means, wherever it is to be found, that confidence can be reposed in the person as a confidant. Isn’t that right?

audience: Yes.

That organizationally, the information passing over organizational channels and so forth is inviolate — we have to be able to guarantee that, right?

audience: Yes.

He has no responsibility on any dynamic for anything. Therefore it’s doesn’t matter what he does, and any stimuli gets any response. And there’s a gold fountain pen lying there and it just leaps of its own accord into his pocket. Now look, this fellow got there from punishment. And you in Scientology have been absolutely right: Punishment never got anybody anyplace. He got there because of enforced withholds, and these enforced withholds wound up eventually into putting every action he did on total automatic, and putting every action on total automatic, then there is no such thing as right or wrong or criminal or good or anything else. He becomes an automatic mechanism which just robots through life doing criminal actions. And you’re going to punish this man? You’re going to punish him into being good?

There has been some discussion of late concerning the 3P that exists between “Scientology” and “Independents”. 

LRH states:

The law would seem to be:

A THIRD PARTY MUST BE PRESENT AND UNKNOWN IN EVERY QUARREL
FOR A CONFLICT TO EXIST.

Or

FOR A QUARREL TO OCCUR, AN UNKNOWN THIRD PARTY MUST BE
ACTIVE IN PRODUCING IT BETWEEN TWO POTENTIAL OPPONENTS.

Or

WHILE IT IS COMMONLY BELIEVED TO TAKE TWO TO MAKE A FIGHT, A
THIRD PARTY MUST EXIST AND MUST DEVELOP IT FOR ACTUAL CONFLICT TO
OCCUR.

It is very easy to see that two in conflict are fighting. They are very visible. What is harder to see or suspect is that a third party existed and actively promoted the quarrel. The usually unsuspected and “reasonable” third party, the bystander who denies any part of it is the one that brought the conflict into existence in the first place.

…

One sees two fellows shouting bad names at each other, sees them come to blows. No  one else is around. So they, of course, “caused the fight”. But there was a third party. Tracing these down, one comes upon incredible data. That is the trouble. The incredible is too easily rejected. One way to hide things is to make them incredible.

…

This theory might be thought to assert also that there are no bad conditions that cause conflict. There are. But these are usually REMEDIAL BY CONFERENCE  UNLESS  A THIRD PARTY  IS  PROMOTING  CONFLICT.

If you look at the conflicts that Scientology is involved in, they range from “the Church” versus “Independents” to “the Church” versus “the media”, versus “the government”, “the French”, “the pharmaceutical companies”, “the psychs”, “the SPs”, “the squirrels”, “the out ethics public”, and on and on.  Even the staff versus the public.

There is an old principle of investigation: trace back who benefits.  What purpose is there for all this conflict to be fomented.  There is an easy answer for that – one that every Scientologist is aware of, and it is increasingly apparent to one and all that it has become more important than the orgs and delivering LRH tech. The IAS.  Every conflict, every disaster affords a new reason that money needs to be donated to the IAS.

But, LRH also says, you have to locate the hidden BEING behind the conflict.

That’s also easy. Look to see who benefits.

Who benefits from the IAS money?  The Machiavellian Midget himself.  It is this money that he uses to prop up his own PR and keep himself in power. It is this money that is used to buy empty buildings (as everyone just saw at the last IAS event) and generate PR about the “massive inroads” Scientology is making into the world with programs that are shown in PR videos at Miscavige’s events.

Remember, The incredible is too easily rejected. One way to hide things is to make them incredible.  That is the reason Scientologists cannot spot the real 3P. It is too incredible. How could the “Dear Leader” who has been responsible for the incredible expansion of Scientology, be a bad hat 3P?  Well, he has conducted a campaign of PR by redefinition of words.

The big lie he is perpetrating is that Scientology is expanding like never before.  The evidence to “prove” this is the purchase/renovation and opening of “new” Ideal Orgs.  In truth, MEST has been substituted for real expansion in a sleight of hand that has been so deft that most Scientologists don’t see it. Of course, every person who calls  himself or herself a Scientologist naturally wants to see Scientology expanding.  Who, other than a real SP, would not want others to achieve the gains they have achieved? Who, other than a real SP, would not want to destimulate the planet by getting as many people as possible to be able to erase their reactive minds?  Who, other than an SP, would not want everyone to be able to read and understand what they are reading with Study Technology.  And after all, we all want a Cleared Planet as our ultimate goal. 

The expansion of Scientology and the destimulation of the peoples of earth IS the greatest good for the greatest number of dynamics.  And even a new Scientologist knows that this is the formula that when applied enhances survival. So, how do you persuade otherwise intelligent, well-meaning people (that is, the Scientologists of the world) to ignore obvious outnesses?  You make the outnesses seem small when compared to the greater good.  The LRH example comes to mind – if a vaccine saved thousands of lives, but killed a few, is it a pro-survival solution? Of course.  So if under Miscavige’s leadership the Church has expanded at “explosive” rates does it really matter if he has been beating people up, spending money like a Saudi prince, knocking hats off those junior to him, destroying the management infrastructure  etc. etc. etc.? Of course not.

But, what if that explosive expansion actually DIDN’T exist? What if those things that are said about Miscavige were not only true, they had in fact destroyed the very structure of organizations and management that LRH put in place, turning the executive echelon of Scientology into a mob of broken, mindless individuals, thus guaranteeing that no expansion would occur. What then?

Then Miscavige would have to come up with a way of demonstrating “expansion” without really having any, using whatever resources were available.  Miscavige doesn’t have competent management at his disposal.  But, he does have MONEY.  Hundreds of millions of dollars.  And though money won’t buy you love, nor happiness, it will buy MEST.  So, here is Miscavige the Magician’s trick.  Scrap the LRH plan of building orgs to St Hill Size (too hard to do anyway – and then there are those damned staff that have to be gotten to OT in the orgs and there’s no management to organize that) and replace it with “Ideal Orgs”.  Oh how clever.  There IS an LRH policy called Ideal Orgs, so it sounds legitimate.  And you just keep talking about Ideal Orgs and make it the “thing to do” and pretty soon everyone will forget about the St Hill size orgs.  And slowly, but surely, you redefine even the concept of an Ideal Org to being “ideal BUILDING”.  And then you tell everyone that this is THEIR problem and make them “part of the game”.  So, the OT Ambassadors and the local OT Committees and all local Scientologists now buy into the laudable objective of having a nice building for their org.  But building the org itself – the people and the theta – they drift quietly into the background (until it comes to “Grand Opening” when a lot of people are going to see the “Ideal Org” on video and the broken down, discarded staff from Int and staff from other orgs are shipped in to make it appear temporarily the place is something more than merely a building).

So, Miscavige tells one and all that he is spearheading this massive expansion, proven by the “new” Ideal Orgs that are being opened.  You hear it at the International events and you read about it in Freedom – pages and pages about Miscavige opening orgs (and not a mention of L. Ron Hubbard).  And obviously anyone who says Miscavige is anything other than perfect is just an SP trying to destroy Scientology, because look at what he is doing and that IS the greatest good for the greatest number of dynamics. 

Or is he really just the Wizard of Oz behind the curtain?

Or is he really the hidden Third Party that is too incredible for most Scientologists to spot?

It’s easy enough to know.  Walk into any one of these “Ideal Orgs” and see whether there is massive expansion occurring?  Do they have more or less staff than was shown on the video for their “Grand Opening”?  How many students are in the course room?  How many Clears have they made since they “opened”?  Funny that you aren’t hearing about the massive expansion in these individual orgs.  All you see about them is Miscavige cutting the ribbon and spouting flowery doublespeak written by the LRH Biographer and some shots of empty buildings.  

Why you may ask don’t the people in the orgs say anything about this?  It’s the old Roman strategy of “divide and conquer.” The few remaining staff huddled in the cold in the Buffalo “Ideal Org” think they are the only ones who have an empty org and that they are really out of step with the rest of the Scientology world. They don’t even want to ask the few remaining staff in Madrid what things are like over there.  They’d probably be shot if they tried. And no public person wants to look like a fool after donating time and money to creating the “Ideal Org” and being good followers of the great COB and his “Command Intention” by questioning whether the org is doing well. They see it, but they quietly hope someone else is going to deal with it.

But there is another beauty to this plan too.  It keeps everyone quiet.  Because anyone who points out the obvious is labeled an SP. “Obviously” if someone is saying the orgs aren’t full and expanding they are CI – or worse yet, they are gloating about it and want it that way.  And who would gloat at the poor staff who are there working their asses off day in and day out?  Only a pure SP.   Again, propaganda by redefinition of terms.  Pointing out the obvious is redefined as gloating.   The staff of those orgs are in the unenviable position of having no management to guide them.  No programs.  No marketing.  Those things have all been forsaken for the “Ideal Org Strategy” because of course, once the “Ideal Org” has been shown on a video, it has no importance to Miscavige any longer.  You can’t show a building opening twice.  People might get suspicious.

It’s the big lie. It is clever. But when you analyse the FACTS, it is what it is. And until the real Third Party is spotted, the conflicts will continue. 

And one last thing. The proof of this pudding is this: as soon as someone DOES spot the real source of the conflict, THE SP, charge blows, the clouds  part and a whole lot of shaking starts going on.

Abilities return, sometimes chronic somatics even disappear, and things start going right again in one’s life. Hell, if you listen real close you might even hear scores of gentle “clicks” in the air, the sound of spines straightening up across the world.

MOQ Corner

Blogger note: I’ve got a nickname for Jim Logan. It is MOQ (Master of Qual). It was inspired by his seemingly effortless ability to rapidly find the LRH tech and policy references that clarify a given situation or resolve a particular problem.  Well, Jim posted a comment today that I hijacked to convert into a post to give it the emphasis and discussion I think it deserves.  I’m thinking maybe we ought to hear from Jim periodically when he does a little research project that clarifies questions currently being pondered and debated on this blog. You think?

On a tape from the Briefing Course, 8 June 65, PTS Handling, LRH is giving the ‘music’ for the words he’s published in the Hubbard Communications Office Policy Letters beginning in March of that year, outlining the Justice Codes, what to do about PTS and SP particles impinging on the newly designed Organization Board. He’s outlining on this tape how to ‘play the piano’ with this data.

Anyway, an interesting point is brought up on how a management can go down the slide to becoming ’suppressive’ as he calls it. That is, that it ends up suppressing those it manages.

This is related to various comments that have come up on how it came to be so bad under DM.

In 1980, the top of the org board was undergoing stress. Lots of things to handle, including the Guardian’s Office scene and the end of that trial, corporate sort out and such. In 81, there was the Mission Holders conference at the Sandcastle in Clearwater. I was there for a lot of it because the band I was in rehearsed at the Sandcastle since nobody was staying there as the Air Conditioning had been shut off to save money and the place went into complete mold-ridden. Anyway, the conference was going on down there.

That conference had ‘assigned’ the new Watch Dog Committee, a lower condition, something like Confusion or the like. It was quite bold. Bill Franks was ED Int, and he had good comm lines to the Mission Holders so they had apparently, support from that quarter.

DM finally showed up and ran one of the meetings. A ‘confrontation’ between ‘INT’ and the ‘field’ it was. From that first conference, the die was cast. What to do about it? What to do about these uppity Mission Holders assigning the top of the org board conditions. What to do about the apparent ‘mutiny’? Indeed.

OK, this tape I’m on 8 June 65 PTS Handling says this: ” You mean you’re going to concentrate on this 20 (%) and you’re going to neglect the 80?”

In other words, get wrapped up in handling PTS/SP cases, and neglect the 80% that are doing just fine.

Further in the tape, he says: “Allright, our next approach to the situation is to bring it about where the individual can reach the 80 effectively without being entangle by the 20″. That is, the materials of the Justice Codes, PTS/SP, Dead File, and so on.

Further on: “The ordinary citizen never really has to be policed. But he is policed continuously because of the goofs of three or four criminals. Do you see?

” So it’s an ‘Everybody bears the burden of a couple of crooks’. Do you follow? And you’ll find that most of your arbitrary laws and savageness on the part of executives and officers and so forth, stems from the fact that they are unable to handle the couple that goofed, and if they have enough losses in handling these guys then they get savage toward everybody.”

“That’s how your governments turn into suppressive organizations and so forth, because they really can’t handle the criminal at all.

“Allright, so you get a broad punishment of everybody in sight!”

The Mission Holders conference and it’s milieu and circumstances, was the excuse DM used to re-implement ‘heavy ethics’ and it was on the reported basis of the initial purposes for the Justice Codes, handling the 20%. Add in the fact the guy had the SP characteristics himself, that is, he’s part of the smaller percent of the 20% (that has the tendency to WRONG TARGET) and with the color of ‘LRH policy’ behind him, and the apparent circumstances of ‘mutiny’ as it was called BY DM, and kabang. The reign of terror is in full swing.

Within a year of that first conference, ‘disconnection’ is back in full, enforced, with the Scientology Policy Directive 28, of 12 Aug 82, and in Sept 83, the SP Acts policy is revised, rewritten, and includes 7 new pages, along with the rewrite of various issues related to the subjects of PTS/SP and voila, the whole thing is ’sanctioned’. Mass declares, mass disconnections enforced.

The above quotes describe it becoming suppressive even for those who aren’t suppressive as executives to begin with. What we’ve seen is a real SP abusing valid LRH materials and punishing the lot of us, due to his inability to see any right target.

The final words of Martin Luther King

Dr. Rev. Martin Luther King conquered hate with love.  He gave his life so that our lives might be filled with more love, tolerance and forgiveness.  If you think I am overstating that, I invite you to  listen to the speech he delivered in Memphis the night before he was gunned down.  He knew what was coming.  His closest advisors suggested he get out of Memphis. But he stood tall so that millions of others might  do so too.  Here was the Code of Honor in application; not just theory. He never compromised with his own reality. His integrity to himself was more important than his body. His self-determinism (nay, pan-determinism) and his honor were more important than his immediate life.

Here is one relevant portion of the night before his assassination captured on film toward the end of the speech:

I find it very relevant to from whence we have come, where we are at, and where we are going. It is about being a man or a woman and standing for what is right and what is just. About being counted as a human being. About standing up straight so that the man cannot continue to make you crawl. Or as King himself said in this speech:

“Whenever men and women straighten their backs up they are going somewhere because a man can’t ride your back unless it is bent.”

Regardless, of whether you find any parallels, today is the King’s day.  I don’t think it is too much to ask that we take twenty minutes to listen to, and reflect upon, his final public words.

Martin Luther King – paying our respects

Friday the 15th was the birthday of Dr. Rev. Martin Luther King.  Monday is a national holiday celebrating his life. Some of DM’s henchmen on the anonymous fringes have had some rather hateful things to say about my repeated references to and respect for King. I am not sure whether everybody understands why I regularly quote him.  I think if you look at what we posted earlier this week about Friendship and the ensuing discussion we had about ARC and love, and compare it to the following short essay by Rev King you’ll begin to get the idea.  http://teachingamericanhistory.org/library/index.asp?document=1131

There is much to learn from the man and his work. There are many parallels between what he helped accomplish and what we are attempting to bring about .

Moving On Up a Little Higher

I knew coming into the struggle that there would be a price to pay for advocating freedom. I knew what we had done from the inside to make life hell for those on the outside exercising their rights to free of expression. Criticism has been leveled against me for not running to law enforcement agencies to report activities that could be construed as criminal. I advised caution against making complaints that were not viable because of statute of limitations and lack of unimpeachable evidence reasons, reasoning that to cry wolf would hurt the chances of justice being served  for prosecutable crimes. Quite a few untoward acts have been directed my way recently. That I knew came with the territory and has been treated for the most part like water under the bridge. However, I did not anticipate the lengths the church would go to in order to harm my friends.

As I reported at the end of December, my email and blog were hacked into. The blog was taken down by the invaders.  I have just learned that at least one email that was sent to me in early December has been posted on an internet site.  These acts constitute felonies under law. During my tenure in the church there was one standard we nearly always adhered to. That was do not commit acts recognized as criminal under existing statutes.  I mistakenly estimated that this standard would continued to be adhered to. I was wrong, pure and simple. The appropriate law enforcement officials have been notified and there is an ongoing criminal investigation on the matter. For those who have known me for any length of time, I don’t think there is any doubt about my capacity for sticking with this until justice is served.

 I sincerely apologize to those who have communicated to me at my posted aol address (sthtexlensman@aol.com) whose privacy rights have been compromised. I recognize that people trusted my representations that the church would not hack my email. I also recognize that gives little solace to those who shared their thoughts and feelings with me via email. Your communications may yet wind up posted by the invaders. I realize that by posting this, communication between myself and others may decline. That is understandable.  Recognize though that for every act of invasion of your privacy that may be committed against you individually the perpetrators of that crime will receive  ten times the pain you may suffer. 

It is my hope that people will recognize that the intent of hacking me and invading people’s privacy was done for one purpose, to cut our communication. The intent is to drive our anchor points in. The very objective our community and communication was exposing and overcoming. Because the strength of the communication lines we have established between ourselves we were able to bounce back fast and stronger than ever . We had more visits per day to my blog within 24 hours of getting back up with a temporary address than we had had for weeks. That is testament to a network of communications that has been formed amongst us that is apparently very widespread, rapid, and resilient.  No matter how hard the church hits, the network of communication we have formed apparently just keeps getting stronger.  Regardless of where things go, and what further attacks we might receive, remember that as long as you keep communicating and keep extending your reach among one another – central coordinating point or not – you are cause over the source of suppression. You are continuing to overcome suppression and if you stay at it you will crack the back of the source of suppression. And for every person who joins your ranks, you will continue to help lift the dark cloud of suppression off of his or her shoulders.

I have taken security measures to prevent a further breach of personal communications to me. If you would like to communicate directly with me, you can write to my pgp encrypted email account, howdoesitfeel@hushmail.com. If you are concerned about the measures the church is willing to take to compromise my communications, that is completely understandable. But, do not allow them to cut your reach. Increase your communications amongst one another. Get on Facebook to network, establish your own security encoded accounts where you are concerned for your privacy. No matter what, continue to reach, increase your communication. At the end of the day it is that one action that will overcome the suppressor who seeks to nullify me, you and any one else who wishes to communicate with an independent mind.

Finally, remember what Frederick Douglass said about the mission to abolish slavery in America. It is as applicable today as it was over 150 years ago when first communicated: “If there is no struggle, there is no progress.”

ARC is sacred

LRH from An Essay On Management (9 January 1951):

He who holds the power of an organization is that person who holds its communication lines and who is a crossroad of communications. Therefore, in a true group, communications and communications lines should be and are sacred. Communication lines are sacred. They have been considered so instinctively since the oldest ages of man. Messengers, heralds and riders have been the object of the greatest care even between combatants on enMEST missions. Priesthoods hold their power through posting or being communication relay points between gods and men. And even most governments consider cults sacred. Communication lines are sacred and who would interrupt or pervert a communication line within a group is entitled to group death – exile. And that usually happens as a natural course of events. Communication lines are sacred. They must not be used as channels of viciousness and entheta. They must not be twisted or perverted. They must not be glutted with many words and little meaning. They must not be severed. They must be established wherever a communication line seems to want to exist or is needed.

Any management of anything can raise tone and efficiency by establishing and maintaining zealously, as a sacred trust, communication lines through all the group and from outside the group into the group and from in the group outside the group.

The most vital lines of a group are not operational lines, although this may appear so to management. They are the theta lines between any theta and the group and the goal maker and the group. Management that tampers with these lines in any way will destroy itself. These actually have tension and explosion in them. It is as inevitable as nightfall that these lines will explode, when tampered with, at the exact point of the tampering. This is a natural law of communication lines.

A line is as dangerous to tamper with as it has truth in its channel. It is safe and even preserving of a line to cut it when it contains entheta. For example when a true line is cut, it charges a little power into the cutter and he has authority for a moment thereby. But it is only the authority of the cut line. If the line is thus made to perish, the cutter loses his authority. If there is much truth in that line, it does not give authority to the cutter, it explodes him.

A group has the right to exile anyone it discovers to be guilty of tampering with any communication line.

A management which will pervert an affinity or sever one may gain a momentary power but the laws here are the same as those relating to communication and an affinity tampered with will lower the tone of a group.

A management which will pervert or suppress a reality, no matter how “reasonable” the act seems, is acting in the direction of the destruction of a group. It is not what management thinks the group or the goal maker should know, it is what is true. A primary function is the discovery and publication, in the briefest form which will admit the whole force of the data, the reality of all existing circumstances, situations and personnel. A management which will hide data, even in the hope of sparing someone’s feelings, is operating toward a decline of the group.

A true group must have a management which deals in affinity, reality and communication and any group is totally within its rights, when a full and reasonable examination discloses management in fault of perverting or cutting ARC, of slaughtering, exiling or suspending that management. ARC is sacred.

Merchant of Chaos

LRH begins The True Story of Scientology with this:

“The true story of Scientology is simple, concise and direct. It is quickly told:

1. A philosopher developed a philosophy about life and death.

2. People find it interesting.

3. People find it works.

4. People pass it along to others.

5. It grows.

“When we examine this extremely accurate and very brief account, we see that there must be in our civilization some very disturbing elements for anything else to be believed about Scientology. These disturbing elements are the Merchants of Chaos. They deal in confusion and upset. Their daily bread is made by creating chaos. If chaos were to lessen, so would their incomes.”

LRH follows that introduction with a series of characteristics of the Merchant of Chaos.  Think these through and see if they remind you of anyone:

“It is to their interest to make the environment seem as threatening as possible, for only then can they profit. Their incomes, force and power rise in direct ratio to the amount of threat they can inject into the surroundings of people.With that threat, they can extort revenue, appropriations, heightened circulations and recompense without question. These are the Merchants of Chaos. If they did not generate it and buy and sell it, they would, they suppose, be poor…

“…This is the cold-blooded manufacture of ‘a dangerous environment.’ People do not need this news and if they did, they need the facts, not the upset. But if you hit a person hard enough, he can be made to give up money. That’s the basic formula of extortion…”

“…The world simply must not be a better place according to the Chaos Merchant. If people were less disturbed, less beaten down by their environments, there would be no new appropriations for police and armies and big rockets and there’d be not even pennies for a screaming sensational press…”

The person who came to mind when I read this has attempted to re-write the True Story of Scientology as follows:

1. He has taken studied, extreme measures to write the author of Scientology out of the picture. Most recently he had the LRH biographer once again drop the biography of LRH and write 110 pages of PR copy on himself as the author of the greatest breakthroughs in Dianetics and Scientology in their histories.

2. He doesn’t find it interesting in the slightest. So much so, he hasn’t audited in nearly twenty years.

3. He has taken measures to use Scientology in the reverse so that it works in reverse to a detrimental result.

4. He diverted and socked away nearly a billion dollars that otherwise might have been spent on dissemination – a central management function – for his own personal aggrandizement.

5. Under his leadership the movement has had unprecedented shrinkage, to the point it is now being held afloat by a captive, elite public that are lavished with statuses in exchange for lucre.

I’m just sayin’.
