Doomsday Dave – KoS pt 2

What follows occurred eight years after the 1996 Golden Age of Tech implant, where Miscavige guaranteed public Scientologists that he had forever, absolutely solved TRs and Metering and all other barriers to rapid, standard training of auditors. With that, though not stated and apparently unnoticed by the many, Miscavige was also saying “Ron was wrong, his idea about the TRs and Metering films helping supervisors solve the making of auditors was plain silly.”  You may recall that in 1996 Miscavige proudly announced that based on his own “breakthroughs” that all orgs, including all Class V orgs, would be making “perfect” auditors with alacrity and in abundance.

Eight years later Miscavige – ignoring his eight year old definitive and absolute claims – let his OT Ambassador friends in on a little secret.  In his 2004, Maiden Voyage Anniversary private OT Summit briefing, he acknowledged to the Ambassadors that students were taking literally “years” to get through his Golden Age of Tech metering course.  How he got away with blaming it on others is a marvel – given that from May 1996 forward he claimed consistently that he was Scientology’s tech God.  But you can see for yourself that his event implant technology apparently was the ONLY thing he kept working like a charm.

And without mentioning that his 1996 hi-tech marvels (Quantum meter, reads simulator, and the doomsday machine super slow down playback reads critique player), in 2004 he promised to introduced yet another electronic via gadget to the line-up.  Recognize too, that here we are, another seven years later, and he hasn’t delivered on that new doomsday machine.  He said the doomsday machine would result in – oops didn’t he say that in 96? –  perfect auditors being made in abundance in every org in the world.  But, he said, it would be unviable to install immediately because it would cost perhaps 20,000 per org to replicate and install.  In the interim, he has collected hundreds of millions to build pretty MEST orgs across the world.  But, no new doomsday machines in any of them. And so, fifteen years have passed since David Miscavige “solved” metering by forever assuring metering is a lost science inside his “church.”

After reading this, I encourage people to read HCO PL Complexity and Confronting in a new unit of time.  What follows comes from the official COB Office staff transcribed transcript of Miscavige’s secret 2004 briefing to OT Ambassadors on the Freewinds.  Without further ado, I give you the King of the Squirrels:

COB BRIEFING TO OT AMBASSADORS

25 June 2004

PROOFED AGAINST VIDEO (1 Jul 04)

OK, complexities.  Man that meter is apparently complex because people can take a long time on that metering course, okay?

There’s two things you can bug.  People can get into this endless TRs, you need a TR supe on metering.  This is really a frontier on the Golden Age of Tech because of course the whole – if you take a look at what that was, it’s just drill in the right way to do something and you get it.  But a metering guy without somebody really knowing his stuff standing over him, the guy can really go off the rails and be at it forever and he’s positive he can’t make it.  And I run into it practically every time I go somewhere.  Even last month at Saint Hill there’s a guy there having been on it ninety months or whatever, and I’ve been at it and it’s just miscalling reads, you have to just slap him around pretty hard actually but boy, he gets it and you’re talking five minutes.

This is only the beginning, but I can’t refrain from a few comments:

a)  “People can get into this endless TRs”.  How, when you solved everything, by bypassing everyone through your Rep NW – which incidentally wiped out the tech hierarchy of the church of Scientology in the process – fifteen, count them, fifteen years ago.

b)   “And I run into it practically every time I go somewhere.”  Really?  I thought you solved this when you came up with a new doomsday meter, doomsday reads simulator, doomsday Golden Age of Tech drills for supervisors, etc, etc – fifteen, count them, fifteen years ago.

c)  “you have to just slap him around pretty hard actually but boy, he gets it and you’re talking five minutes.”  Easy then, just open an ultimate fighting prison camp for Spartan Sea Org members at Int.  Oh, forgot you did try that.  No wonder you call me a squirrel – I guess the Truth Rundown in the SP Times cut right across your STANDARD TECH handlings.  Whew – ladies and gentleman, I am not making this stuff up, it is transcribed from the actual briefing by Miscavige’s own staff.

And now, back to the rest of the KoS’s presentation:

So we’ve been working on a couple things here.   Here we go.  I’m going to show you one thing that now we got a – believe it or not – simplicity, but it does work.  Here’s a little pilot.

Okay.  And this hopefully – look, this is – you’re seeing prototype stuff here now.  OK let’s start on this little display here.  Okay.  And this isn’t coming out tomorrow.  No really, this is between us now, this not coming out tomorrow.  This is just get – no, it is not, but I’m going to show it to you.  Deal?

What happens – anybody’s here been on a pro metering course (yeses), what, you see people and they walk over to the TV, they’re measuring the read.  Okay (laughs) we get all these things (laughs).  How long have you been on it?  Seven months.  Really, what have you been doing?  The last 6 and a half I’ve been on my final assessment.  (Exclaims) It shouldn’t be like that.  Okay.

Again, I cannot hold back another comment till the end, this guy just spits outpoints and lies faster than you can say “spit”.  If you haven’t already please read the last post on this blog, The King of the Squirrels.  Miscavige started the practice of walking over to TV screens and measuring reads.  Miscavige created and enforced the arbitraries that made “final assessment” impossible.  Nine years BEFORE this briefing. And look, he’s getting laughs as a response by the OT Ambassadors.

Ok, back to Miscavige:

Here’s a little device and here’s a training aid that really is going to speed this up.  This is a reads recorder.  And it’s right there for the guy in doing the assessment.  So here you go, student would be there, it’s got a microphone, a headset, coach would have it as well.  Right?  I’m going to play it for you over the speakers because obviously you’re not going to all be able to hear this you know.

And what this does is a guy doing an assessment or any reads it records it onto a hard drive, it’ll record hundreds of hours, you can record many assessments on it, and then play them back immediately and it plays back on the meter.  And here we go.

I’ll give you – now you got the camera on there?  (Yes sir.)

Okay here we go, this is just a little setup here, you can see, it looks a bit odd.  Okay.  Right here.  Various buttons and whatever, different files, meaning which assessment did they do, you know, it just goes up, I can move it up, okay I’m just going to play one now.  Imagine somebody just did an assessment.  You’re going to have to get it on the meter.  I played back their assessment that second…

(Assessment) And there it all is right there, instantaneously.

Okay we go to the next assessment and that one they’re checking….

(Assessment)  Okay.  So we put this in a course room, and we did do it cause I thought, well I don’t know, I mean, is it really going – it’s instant, that’s the point, and the coach and the student are there.  We haven’t had a student on the pro metering that’s been doing it yet.  I mean it literally has reduced it down to checksheet time because it’s right there, we’re not to a video, we’re not to a screen, we’re not to anything else, it’s instant, anybody can go back and play it, even if the sup wasn’t watching them there it is.  (Exclaims)  So that’s step one and it’s end of metering bugs.  (Cheers, applause)

So, what he has done is put a digital recorder system into the meter itself or a plug in.  You see that is much different than having a different piece of MEST recording the drilling, because the MEST is in or on the meter instead of outside the meter.  Get it?  Oh, by the way, “we haven’t had a student on the pro metering that’s been doing it yet. I mean it literally has reduced it down to checksheet time.”  Do you realize this ass just admitted that as of nine years after his having taken over metering, that HE has not got a single person through the course in checksheet  time. Now, realize his introduction of MEST recording on the line in no small part permanently knocked off hats and responsibility from everyone from whoever his second in command is now, right on down through every hat on the org board to the supervisors in every org by introducing his electronic vias. And as of 2004 he says he’s gonna introduce more and in effect PEOPLE cannot supervise.

Sorry, back to the smartest guy in the room:

Now that’s something we’ve been developing and I just have to get all the interface ready so people can hook it up to their meters in the room and that’s probably the furthest in the distance from these quite frankly.  And there are several of these things we just developed and – okay, in any event, now here’s another one, here’s what we’re really getting.  This I’ve been able to take from Flag and I’m going to be able to take it right down to org level.

Because one thing you know if you’ve been to the Flag AO down there you notice that they can record their sessions.  Every single one on a hard drive high security – no video tapes floating around, you can look right at the session – if you knew the cost of that baby, who, that wasn’t going to be too viable to put in the orgs.

So we’ve been working on this for a couple of years, and we have a system here that for — fifteen, maybe twenty thousand dollars maybe we can put it into an org with two HGCs networked throughout the entire place, into the Qual cramming, into their C/S office, into everywhere, now, let’s take a – and look what you can do now.

At best what Miscavige describes is a gizmo that will eliminate the need to measure the length of read on a tv monitor; and nothing else.  But in practice it is yet another means to have his pre-selected, physically attractive, unapproachable, non-tech trained minions second guess, bypass and knock the hats off of supervisors. He’s going to have students with headsets plugging themselves into the meter in order to do e-meter drills.

Now hear this, this will further make metering impossible. The more one focuses on the MEST of it, the less they will be able to master perceiving the one and only LRH definition of INSTANT READ:

The correct definition of INSTANT READ is THAT REACTION OF THE NEEDLE WHICH OCCURS AT THE PRECISE END OF ANY MAJOR THOUGHT VOICED BY THE AUDITOR…

…Additionally, when looking for reads while clearing commands or when the preclear is originating items, the auditor must note only those reads which occur at the exact moment the pc ends his statement of the item or command.

–         LRH – HCOB 5 August 1978, INSTANT READS

Really folks, metering is simplicity itself.  But recognize, L Ron Hubbard did not have people sitting in course rooms for months, let alone years interiorizing further and further into the meter in order to understand what this means – at the expense, of course, of the actual magic that allows as-isness to occur, the auditor-pc comm cycle. LRH had them do drills till they were comfortable enough and confident enough to take a person in session, then they’d go in session, and they would audit, audit, audit and they would learn to the point where they would not even contemplate arguing about what is and isn’t an instant read.  The auditor would know.  And many auditors do know.  But, they ain’t anywhere near the doomsday machines, the church or Scientology, and most importantly they aren’t anywhere near – or any place they can be even indirectly influenced by –  David Miscavige.

The King of the Squirrels

With all the talk of squirrels this past week, let us focus for a moment on the undisputed King of Squirrels, David Miscavige.

Since he is also the indisputable “Ecclesiastical Leader” of the “churches of Scientology” let us be very clear about the basis for anointing him with this King of the Squirrels title.   The earlier beginning to my having even gotten into this terrain, was a controversial comment of mine to the effect that folk promoting their skype auditing, and long-distance internet NOTs supervision was, in my view, squirrel. That evaluation was predicated on the idea that the interposition of mest forms of electronics between a pre clear and an auditor is a grotesque perversion of the original formula that makes auditing work:

Auditor plus pre clear is greater than bank.

And that opens the door for any number of complexities to enter into the magical simplicity of the Basic Auditor Comm Series HCOBs and the several SHSBC lectures that go with them.

First let us define “squirrel” in the Scientology vernacular:

Squirreling (going off into weird practices or altering Scientology) only comes about from noncomprehension.  Usually the noncomprehension is not of Scientology but some earlier contact with an offbeat humanoid practice which in its turn was not understood.  When people can’t get results from what they think is standard practice, they can be counted upon to squirrel to some degree.

–         LRH, Keeping Scientology Working

After returning to Flag from the ship from my relatively unhindered eighteen month auditing and training sabbatical in the summer of 1995, I was assigned by Miscavige to the RTC Rep Office at Flag.  He told me that I was to begin at the bottom of the RTC org board, as my sabbatical was my own RPF for having blown in 93. In retrospect I think he wanted all influential public see me running about Flag with an “RTC Trainee” tag and my single, slim Ensign bars on each shoulder. I was to answer to the Class VIII RTC Rep Angie Trent and communicate to no one else above her on the command channel, most particularly not him.

That was fine by me, because frankly the end phenomena of my ship program was that I had no designs for any altitude or status, I just wanted to apply the tech, and the last person I wanted to be connected to directly was David Miscavige.

I worked mostly on TRs and Metering with the dozens of outer org trainees who were there, ran a program to retread Class XIIs on their TRs and Metering, and handled various VIP cases directly whom the tech hierarchy at Flag (as supervised by Snr CS INT) had failed to handle.

I was pretty much let alone to get on with it as completion stats and L’s HGC stats were steadily rising where I roamed.

However, at the end of each day the Rep office personnel would gather in the Green Room of the FH auditorium to write up our sections of the RTC Rep’s daily report to Miscavige.  It was the Rep’s report, and a great deal of it consisted of what I was producing in the course rooms (outer org, and staff Class XII course room).   Most days, I’d write up my report while Angie and Rikki Jensen (who had zero tech training) would review TRs and Metering videos.  Each day they were frantic to get several on the airport run to Miscavige, who had to give final passes.  They were between a rock and a hard spot.  They had a vicious daily demand for more. Yet the more they sent the more abusive, confusing rejects they would receive from Miscavige – all interlaced with the most vicious arbitrary opinions.  I was at ground zero of the end of simple TRs and metering, and the beginning of the era of mass confusion and endless TRs and Metering Courses.

While writing my reports I could not help but hear Angie and Rikki discuss rejects of students I had debugged in the course rooms.  I attempted to interject my view, and oft times defense or advocation for a particular student’s video.  Each time Angie cut me off saying that Miscavige had given her explicit orders that I not be allowed to participate on the video pass line in any way, shape, manner or form (which was consistent with Miscvige’s orders to me).

I wound up spending considerable time in the course rooms attempting to console students trying to reconcile their arbitrary rejects without outright disrespecting the RTC Reps and by extension Miscavige. I took on sort of a tricky, covert Chaplain hat while trying to maintain some semblance of the hard-as-chrome-steel persona Miscavige demanded of all of us.

At the end of each day I would heard Angie and Rikki arguing for several minutes on whether a metering video read was “instant” or “latent” or “prior.”   These arguments were interlaced with innumerable “COB saids”.  The definition of “instant read” departed further and further from the simplicity that LRH defined it with:

The correct definition of INSTANT READ is THAT REACTION OF THE NEEDLE WHICH OCCURS AT THE PRECISE END OF ANY MAJOR THOUGHT VOICED BY THE AUDITOR…

…Additionally, when looking for reads while clearing commands or when the preclear is originating items, the auditor must note only those reads which occur at the exact moment the pc ends his statement of the item or command.

–         LRH – HCOB 5 August 1978, INSTANT READS

One day I lost my composure and told Angie and Rikki in no uncertain terms words to the following effect:

Will you please look at how insane this situation is?  You two sit here and debate dozens of individual reads for minutes on end each, day in and day out.   You pull out rulers against a video screen and flunk a guy because he wrote “Small Fall” instead of “Fall” because you think it was 1/16th of an inch off.   Worse, what was yesterday defined as an instant read, is today called “latent” or “prior.” Think about this. Imagine yourself in session, with you two sitting over your shoulder second guessing every read. Is an auditor afforded the opportunity to say to the pc, “hold on a few minutes, I want to get a second opinion”, walk off and discuss it like you two do with someone else whether a given read is instant, latent or prior?   Hell, why do you think LRH introduced the idea of checking for “false, protest, etc”  Don’t you know that if you take up an uncharged item the TA will immediately start rising and there are remedies for that?  This entire RTC handling on TRs and  metering is taking training away from establishing certainty and instead introducting utter indecision and arbitrary. You’ve knocked the hat off of every Flag exec, Training and Qual terminal. Complexity and Confronting period, that is what is wrong with metering supervision and you are introducing it in spades.

That last reference was to HCO PL Complexity and Confronting:

THE DEGREE OF COMPLEXITY IS PROPORTIONAL TO THE DEGREE OF NONCONFRONT.

Reversing this:

THE DEGREE OF SIMPLICITY IS PROPORTIONAL TO THE DEGREE OF CONFRONT.

And

THE BASIS OF ABERRATION IS A NONCONFRONT.

The response to my outburst was red face, embarrassed silence.  In that culture there was no other possible response because to acknowledge would be to acknowledge where the bony finger was pointing, the King of Squirrels.  To fight would encourage an issuance of more discussion of the King of Squirrel’s arbitraries.

We all returned to our business but tensions increased between us.  As weeks went on all manner of unusual solutions arose to satisfy crams issued to students with their RTC rejects.  People were nitpicking every word LRH ever said about instant reads.  They were fighting over one LRH comment over another.  It was a tragic trainwreck of semantics and literalness.  And students, Flag Supervisors, and executives and the Reps themselves became increasingly confused.

The next thing I see is a Golden Era Productions, super high-tech video playback machine installed in the RTC Rep office at the Fort Harrison.  Angie and Rikki began doing their video reviews behind the closed door of that little office. When I asked about it, Angie told me that COB had come up with a breakthrough on “instant reads”.  He sent them that fancy video player because they could slow it down to incredibly slow speed and definitively determine whether a read was instant or not.

In practice it confused matters even more.   The reps were working in one electronic universe, the supervisors and students in another entirely.   The reps would sometimes invite a Flag exec, Supervisor or Qual terminal over to the ivory tower to demonstrate how they were right by showing them a disputed video on Miscavige’s secret, doomsday machine. That was necessary as some Flag executives began to protest heavily – though necessarily covertly – to the increasing confusion surrounding TRs and Metering. They would leave the magic technological wonder as confused as when they arrived for reality adjustment.

When I was able to elbow my way into their little enclave over Angie’s efforts to keep me out, I saw that indeed doomsday machine it was.  The sound was slowed down with the picture and greatly amplified.  The instant the words of the major thought ended was virtually impossible to divine as it blended in with the amplified ambient noise.

I even found an LRH lecture where he stated during the SHSBC era that about the most idiotic thing someone could do is to create some high tech film playback system to debate the issue of instant reads.

I gave that to Angie and went about my business.

As my disagreements with Angie (representing Miscavige) became more intense and less suppressed, suddenly the Lisa McPherson matter hit like an atomic weapon that wiped out that chapter from my life and the lives of many others. To understand how that became the latest prior confusion knocking me further out of valence, you can google “marty rathbun videos tampabay.com” and watch me talk of where that lead me, Miscavige and the church.

Now, I’ve got a pc arriving today and need to do some work in preparation for that, so cannot write more at this time.  Hopefully, I’ve provided enough information to clear at least some fog from the swamp of arbitraries many have suffered from during the ensuring fifteen years. I am not done with this.  I am going to present some documentary evidence that the quagmire I describe above became far more thick and inescapable over the years that followed.

L Ron Hubbard In Perspective

Let’s get a little bit of perspective here on all the brouhaha over the past couple days on this blog.  I was not attempting to dictate how people think.  I was merely serving as an iconoclast of those “icons” who have sought (and it appears achieved in some quarters) that lofty status by acting themselves as iconoclasts of L Ron Hubbard.

I’ve seen them come and go and return and remain. Those that claimed to have the inside track to L Ron Hubbard, or they knew Ron so began to know better than him, or were channeling L Ron Hubbard, or even the one who claims to have a gigantic tunnel full of L Ron Hubbard.

Let us not lose sight of one significant fact – so obvious as to constitute an elephant in the room – none of those iconoclasts even exist without L Ron Hubbard.

I have spoken to people who have journeyed far up the Scientology Bridge who have been left in the wicked, indecisive position of “where’s the next level?”.  Caught up in the Miscavige or Robertson or Mayo or some other iconoclast mythology that Ron didn’t really mean what he said in HCO PL The Hidden Data Line (and the many lectures and policies where he re-iterated that ‘if it is not in writing, it isn’t true’), they remained tractable followers.  What I try to point out is that they are intentionally put there by setting up a religious myth about L Ron Hubbard – some make him God, some make him Devil; and none do him justice for the man he was and the work he created. But they do it for the same purpose.  That which was covered so well by Thomas Paine in The Age of Reason (quoted from in a post here not too long ago).  For anyone caught up in the perplexing fog of having to hold tight to mythology for comfort, I highly recommend The Age of Reason for some perspective.  When released from mythology and encouraged to research and study the vast library LRH did leave behind, many find that there is so much Scientology they never really understood or applied – and certainly thought did not apply to them since they had attained whatever Level they had.

I think it is important to understand LRH was a man, and not some special thetan visited upon earth like God sent Jesus or, at the other extreme, some confidence trickster intent on enslaving people.  When you take mythology out of the equation it leaves but one basis upon which to judge his legacy.  That is, does it work?   And lo and behold, if LRH said one thing more times than any other thing, I would wager it is that Scientology ought to be judged against that very standard.

Whether an author or philosopher was a saint or sinner has no bearing on whether what he or she produced works when applied as suggested.

With a timing that seemed as magical as destiny, in the middle of the current blog debates (and particularly contemplation of responding to the digs and slights on LRH implied or gratuitously offered in defending other “icons”)  and my pondering about how LRH ought to be treated in retrospect, I opened a package from Tom Felts that he had sent me weeks ago.  I reached in and found a 1929 edition of Twelve Against The Gods by William Bolitho.  I had mentioned the book to Tom when he visited me in January, noting a passage that LRH cited in the Philadelphia Doctorate Course.  I dropped everything and began reading the book and continued because Bolitho spoke the ideas I harbored but lacked the ability to articulate. Here are a few passages that I felt very relevant to L Ron Hubbard:

Adventure is the vitaminizing element in histories, both individual and social.  But its story is unsuitable for a Sabbath School prize book.  Its adepts are rarely chaste, or merciful, or even law-abiding at all, and any moral peptonizing, or sugaring, takes out the interest, with the truth, of their lives.

It is so with all great characters.  Their faults are not mud spots, but structural outcroppings, of an indivisible piece with their personality.  But there is a special reason for the inveterate illegality, or if you prefer, wickedness, of your true adventurer, which is inherent in the concept of Adventure itself.  Adventure is the irreconcilable enemy of law; the adventurer must be unsocial, if not in the deepest sense anti-social, because he is essentially a free individualist.

This is what boys — those natural judges of the matter — have been trying to mutter for centuries, when fobbed off with lives of missionaries, or generals, where varied incident in vain ornaments an essentially unadventurous character.  A feat, a danger, a surprise, these are bonbons adventure showers on those who follow her cult with a single mind. Their occurrence even repeated does not constitute a life of adventure…

…And so, the adventurous life is our first choice. Any baby that can walk is a splendid and typical adventurer; if they had the power as they have the will, what exploits and crimes they would commit!  We are born adventurers, and the love of adventures never leaves us till we are very old; old, timid men, in whose interest it is that adventure should quite die out.  This is why all the poets are on one side, and all the laws on the other; for laws are made by, and usually for, old men.

It is this doublemindedness of humanity that prevents a clear social excommunication of the adventurer. When he appears in the flesh indeed, he can hope for no mercy. Adventure is a hard life, as these twelve cases will remind you.  The moment one of these truants breaks lose, he has to fight the whole weight of things as they are; the laws, and that indefinite smothering aura that surrounds the laws that we call morals; the family, that is the microcosm and whip lash of society; and the dead weight of all the possessors, across whose inter-woven rights the road to freedom lies.  If he fails, he is a mere criminal. One-third of all criminals are nothing but failed adventurers; they usually get a stiffer sentence than the rest, the imbeciles and the hungry.  It is when he imposes himself and gets out of reach of the police that society’s reaction is most curious…

…At the beginning of most careers stands an adventure, and so with states, institutions, and civilizations.  The progress of humanity, whatever its mysterious direction, is not motored by mere momentum. Let ethics make what it can of it.  There is therefore a sociological role of adventure; necessarily an accidental one, since it is in itself non-social. History is jolted along with great breaches of law and order, by adventurers and adventurers. From the flint-jabber to standing room in the subway, from a cave at Les Eyzies to the plumbing of New York, we have come by two forces of effort, not one; the guard and the search, made by the home-stayer on the one hand, and by the bold affronter of the New on the other.  That is, by the adventurer as well as by the citizen. By law, but also by those who leaped outside its protecting palisade, caring nothing if they damaged it in the action, and augmented the treasures of the race by courage and not thrift.  The first adventurer was a nuisance; he left the tribal barricade open to the risk of the community when he left to find out what made that noise in the night.  I am sure he acted against his mother’s, his wife’s, and the council of old men’s strict orders, when he did it. But it was he that found where the mammoths die and where after a thousand years of use there was still enough ivory to equip the whole tribe with weapons. Such is the ultimate outline of the adventurer; Society’s benefactor as well as pest…

…In so far as the nature of all living things is conditioned by their enemies, the adventurer is defined by his fight with Order, and his fight with Chance. The first he may win — if he does not, he will go to prison. The second he cannot beat, for it is a manifestation of the universal.  This book contains no invitation to the life of adventure: that has the same end as all the rest. I do not mean that in our material categories an adventurer cannot be successful. Some, though not the greatest, have died of old age, on heaps of what they set out to get.  There is a more subtle tragedy that waits for adventurers than ruin, penurious old age, rags, contempt.  It is that he is doomed to cease to be an adventurer. The law of his morphology is that, setting out a butterfly, he is condemned when his development is ripe to become a caterpillar.  The vocation of adventure is as tragic as that of Youth; its course is parabolic, not straight; so that at a certain point it leads back to the cage again.  The greatest adventurer that ever lived ended as a nervous, banal millionaire…

…History has always treasured a catalogue of adventurers — she has not changed her ways, though she may not, for business reasons, be allowed to publish it. As for the adventure-feat, the Atlantic flights, the polar journeys, the Everest climb, that flowering of heroism and endurance above anything in humanity’s past, perhaps, which is the panache of our times, it only secondarily concerns our subject.  The heroes of these things are the soldiers of society, not adventurers; only a misunderstanding which these studies may clear up could make their friends claim for them the title…

In the scheme of things, I would venture to say LRH was an adventurer whose sallies from the cave were far more threatening to the social order than any adventurer Bolitho goes on to treat.  After all, LRH’s adventure lead to an invitation that we all become adventurers.  And consequently the Order, and its sheep, have subjected him to far worse treatment than any adventurer of the material realm whose goals and products were control and material, geographic or human ownership.  Many a mere missionary or general have seized on LRH’s faults in pathetic attempts to commandeer for themselves the title “adventurer.”

Finally, I quote from the final page of Twelve Against The Gods where Bolitho asks a rhetorical question of Woodrow Wilson’s adventure, a question that I believe is just as relevant to us today with respect to L Ron Hubbard’s adventure:

The great killing was over: could Wilson, with its smell in the air, risk another? And so he did not risk, so, not risking, he lost the lot.  Such is the end, we have imagined, of most adventures, perhaps all adventures, though peer and probe as we might we could not find a trace of a necessity, which would set our minds at peace.  For if only we could find an inevitability of failure of the game we are forced, singly, and in the whole slow moving column of humanity through the ages to play against gods, there would be a Shakesperean release, an ease, a true tragic katharsis in it; a quasi-musical compensation, that all endeavour is pre-destined lost.  But such, like the static dream of a fixed good in the universe attainable in time, that image of space, there is nowhere any true sign of.  We are encouraged to, not absolved from, adventure by the shortest and most inadequate look at it.  There is no certainty, good or bad, but an infinite resilience that makes both good and bad greater than we commonly think. The heights are further; the gulfs deeper; if it is a game, the odds are enormous.

So Woodrow Wilson, the last of our heroes, ends our biggest adventure; some people think that, like Arthur and the legendary Alexander, and many other lesser men, he left, even though defeated, a hope, a promise, that League, which is as it were a symbol of his perished flesh and blood, a fragment torn out of his heart and left with us, to serve for one who will come after in a retaking up of his adventure to put his feet on for the leap.  It may be. We started by renouncing a moral, and we here end without one. But at any rate, we may be more certain now of the infinite hopeful and despairing uncertainties of things as they seem, as they are, and as they will be.

Before You Knight Mayo…

I didn’t anticipate as much worship for David Mayo as appeared in the thread on the last post, Deconstructing the Mayo Myth. Of course, quite a bit of it was from the very squirrels I was trying to warn people about.  So, it did serve a purpose. I did not set out to discredit David Mayo.  I steered clear of that route pretty carefully – simply detailing proof of one whopper he told that resulted in people being confused (the comments at issue proving the confusion proposition true).  If one studied much Scientology and applied it, it would take a rather low IQ to be confused enough to put David Mayo on the same level as L Ron Hubbard – whether Mayo’s original lie were a lie or not.

I did not even think of the following facts before last night’s posting; because I never intended to bury Mayo.  I only thought of them while scratching my head at comments seeking to raise Mayo to sainthood.  They are clearly relevant – at least to those still apt to be lead down some dead end canyon.

David Mayo did not do a single thing to make the Upper Level HCOBs available for people outside of the church of Scientology.  In fact, he swore under oath on numerous occasions he never received the Robin Scott materials. He never wavered from that position from 1983 to this day.  Rather than take on David Miscavige, David Mayo countersued and made the focus of his attack L Ron Hubbard.  He actively joined forces with a formidable government and private consortium that was dead set on harassing, jailing and forever discrediting L Ron Hubbard.  The day before L Ron Hubbard died in January 1986 the Federal Disctrict Court judge on the case denied Mayo’s motion to force LRH into the litigation and appear for deposition. Mayo’s team ruthlessly pursued L Ron Hubbard literally to the day he died.

Mayo’s AAC was closed by 1984.  His stint as a Scientology practioner outside the church lasted a far sight shorter than the existence of the modern Independent movement, which has only just begun. Mayo was unemployed for the next ten years. He may have had a side “consulting” agreement with his sugar daddy who carried him for that decade in order to justify that carrying. He spent a great deal of that time windsurfing in exotic locations.  He was taken care of financially by psychiatrist/Scientologist Frank “Sarge” Gerbode.  Gerbode hired and paid for one of the largest litigation firms on the planet to represent Mayo.

Mayo ultimately agreed to a permanent injunction against using or disseminating any Scientology upper level materials.  He agreed to do that in exchange for all Gerbode’s legal expenses being paid for and a high six figure or low seven figure chunk of change for himself.   He flew in from his digs in Hawaii to consummate the deal. And he flew off to quiet, perhaps content, oblivion. Sure, David Mayo took a beating.  You think we haven’t?  The difference is this. I will die before accepting anything from David Miscavige. And I know for a fact the same goes for Mike Rinder and dozens of others who have been shoulder to the wheel over the past two years, after several decades of having their shoulders against another wheel that they thought was the one it is on now.

As to the squirrel line that “hey, you supported the little bastard he defied”, I’d like to courteously point out a few facts.  First, David Mayo wore Commander bars, was in daily communication with L Ron Hubbard, and was one of only a handful of people who even had access to LRH when the little bastard out maneuvered him and ousted him. Mayo’s compatriots at the AAC had more combined brass than the modern Navy when the little bastard, without any stripes, kicked all their asses.  That included Sector Nine Capitan Bill Robertson and a host of others.  We – myself and a lot of others who are now forwarding LRH’s legacy – were not even pieces on the chessboard then, let alone players.  By the time I was in a Legal executive capacity, Mayo and his friends were already engaged in a full-scale attack against L Ron Hubbard.  And they were arm in arm with the Internal Revenue Service, FBI, and an array of private sector attorneys.

David Mayo may have been the greatest C/S to ever trod earth before all this started. I wouldn’t know.  I only ever talked to him casually while a 23 year old LRH External Comm courier before I’d had any tech training.  Even then his presence didn’t impress me much.

And that reminds me of an earlier beginning to my contemplating a post to distinguish us from the likes of Mayo.  I have noticed over the past year several old AACers coming out of retirement and hanging up their shingles.   While nattering about Independents being “johnny come lately” out of one side of their mouths, they are back in business only because of the exodus we have unleashed.  Well, over the past couple months I have had some bedraggled souls wind up on my doorstep who have been mauled by old-timer squirrels.  I repaired them, and will continue to do so as needed. But, it is apparent to me that a line needs to be drawn.  Squirrels leave the church seeking freedom to do whatever hair-brained scheme their banks feed them. Independents leave the church seeking freedom to practice standard tech.

I was willing to let bygones be bygones and largely have over the past two years.  But, I think it is high time to clearly delineate what we stand for and distinguish it from others with not so lofty goals.

Deconstructing the Mayo Myth

Source of NOTs technology - L Ron Hubbard

When you create a huge, open tent a lot of wonderful things occur – many of which we have been sharing on a daily basis here.

With no admission fee, no pre-requisites, no qualifications, no screening – you also get your share of hucksters, clowns and pick-pockets.  I generally let people get along and encourage them to go along their own paths for the most part.  But when the crime rate starts to escalate it doesn’t hurt to warn people about certain dark alleys.

I wouldn’t even address this subject if it were not for the demand that I do address it by several OTs who have heard me tell the story of the origin of New Era Dianetics for OTs (NOTS) technology.  It seems that three decades of insistence by certain squirrels that David Mayo is Source of NOTs technology has had an effect in some quarters.  The Mayo myth has lead many a truth seeker down a rabbit hole of bizarre, albeit sometimes interesting, diversions. It has served several not-quite-bright folk (with king-size, self-importance buttons) a handy justification that has been used for decades to palm off all manner of alterations as LRH technology.

I realize some will launch the most vicious of attacks for my presenting the facts as I witnessed them.  No matter, this has never been a popularity contest.

I’ve got news:

1 – L Ron Hubbard discovered New Era Dianetics for O.T.s.

2 – L Ron Hubbard dictated the HCOBs for New Era Dianetics for O.T.s

3 – David Mayo did not discover New Era Dianetics for O.T.s.

4 – David Mayo did not write New Era Dianetics for O.T.s.

And for those wanting to practice standard tech outside of the suppression of the church, and for those lurking church of Scientology members I have good news: all of the NOTs HCOBs that have been readily available on the internet for the past fifteen years are FAR more on Source than anything foisted off as such in Miscavige’s church of Scientology.

OT VIIs and above, hear this about all those conditions formulas you did for out security, including the tens of thousands you might have been coerced into paying to get Ethics off your backs. Those conditions assignments were bogus and meaningless. In fact, they have been ruthlessly enforced by David Miscavige’s RTC for the past two decades for no other purposes than making money and controlling you and diverting attention from the fact that Miscavige, rather than being the savior of the sacred Bridge, in fact failed miserably in one of RTC’s few stated LRH purposes; to wit, protecting the security of the upper level materials of Scientology.

Here are the facts I witnessed that lead to the four conclusions at the outset of this post.

In the early eighties Robin Scott and some cohorts executed a rather clever scheme.  They dressed up as Sea Org missionaires and strutted into AOSHEU exuding airs of strategic cunning.  Scott announced they had been sent by Int Management to straighten out the org.  Having full run of the org, they walked out with all confidential Advanced Tech material from R6EW right on up through NOTS.

Shortly after, David Mayo began heavily promoting the delivery of NOTS at his Advanced Ability Center (AAC) in Santa Barbara, California, under the name Advanced Ability 5.  RTC sued Mayo and the AAC under the federal Racketering Influenced Corrupt Organizations (RICO) statute and the Trade Secret statute.

After a mini-trial (evidentiary hearing) a US Federal Judge enjoined Mayo, et al from using or distributing his AA5 material. During that hearing Mayo swore under oath that he had written the AA5 material from memory – without reference to the stolen Scott NOTs material.  The Judge made a specific finding that Mayo was not a credible witness – particularly in his claim that he had re-written the material from memory because he wrote it in the first place.

Having been found a liar, the man with the self-proclaimed eidetic memory changed his story.  He began stretching his claims to say in fact, not only did he write the materials, he discovered and developed them too.

Later the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals reversed the injunction on legal issues, not affecting the Federal Court Judge finding that Mayo was a calculating liar.  The suit was amended to include copyright claims and Mayo was enjoined again.

Somebody will likely provide a special master’s finding of fact that Mayo wrote NOTs as a work-made-for-hire for the church (an excerpt was posted by I think Cat Daddy on an earlier thread).   They won’t explain that the upshot of that later ruling – by an off the wagon alcoholic ex-judge sitting as special master – means simply that anything Mayo may have written in the name of L Ron Hubbard while in the chuch was legally written by LRH because Mayo was an employee of the church and working under L Ron Hubbard’s direction when he did so.

What the alcoholic master did not comment upon was irrefutable evidence that was placed before him that L Ron Hubbard discovered and effectively wrote every NOTs HCOB with Mayo’s assistance as a transcriptionist/compiler.  The master didn’t comment upon it as he never reviewed the evidence, hated the church of Scientology and was doing everything in his power to help Mayo – whom  he sympathized with. Now, whether Mayo was deserving of any sympathy is a matter of a decades old debate, irrelevant to the issue at hand.

The evidence the master refused to consider consisted of the original submission files for each and every original NOTs Series HCOB. Each HCOB had its own folder.  Each contained one or more CSWs (completed staff work forms) written by Mayo to LRH asking for authorization to issue each HCOB of the NOTs Series.  Each folder included each draft that was rejected enroute to full approval.  I know this because I helped compile the evidence for presentation. Michael J Rinder knows this too – because he too reviewed and compiled the same evidence with me in a number of subsequent legal cases involving the NOTs materials.

Each proposed HCOB was accompanied by tape transcripts highlighted and numbered in the margins to demonstrate where each of LRH’s spoken sentences was lifted in order to compile each line of each HCOB.  The package included the original audio tapes of LRH speaking the words that would become the HCOBs.

The audio tapes were recorded after sessions where Mayo audited LRH.  After each session LRH would tell Mayo to turn on the tape player, then he would dictate exactly what had happened in the session, plus commentary of what the technical whys and wherefores for the phenomena of the session were and instructions for compiling HCOBs on the subject.  Throughout hours upon hours of those audio tapes, Mayo can only rarely be heard with short, respectful acknowledgments.  Most of Mayo’s responses consisted of “Yes, Sir”, “Got it Sir”, “I understand Sir.”  Virtually every word of the HCOBs is taken from LRH’s transcribed spoken words.

Mayo’s job chiefly was to turn LRH’s spoken English descriptions into written English. And for those who have studied the original NOTs HCOBs I think you might agree Mayo didn’t even do such a great job of that. And now I am glad he did not.

Of course Mayo was LRH’s auditor during this period. And yes, LRH was ill and being audited by Mayo when LRH discovered NOTs. However, one thing is crystal clear when one reads the transcripts in sequence, which I did.  Mayo attempted to audit LRH on Dianetics and LRH got worse. Clearly LRH recognized that there was something else at play, described it and instructed his auditor (Mayo) on how to handle it.  Most of the transcripts consist of LRH explaining all that to Mayo and how NOTs works, how it ought to be audited, etc.

David Miscavige has made numerous alterations with “new improved” NOTs and Solo NOTs over the years.  The most on Source, unaltered HCOBs on NOTs are the original NOTs series, the ones that have been readily available on the internet for the past fifteen years.  I know that and Mike Rinder knows that because we ran litigation for more than twenty years that sought to prevent those very materials from being available in the public domain.  And we compiled the evidence from LRH’s archives – described above – in years-long attempts to keep the materials secret. Alas, we (me, Mike, Warren McShane, and David Miscavige who micromanaged every step of the way) failed.  And I could write a book detailing how Miscavige himself sabotaged even these efforts. He should be the last guy on the planet bemoaning NOTs materials in the public domain, and enforcing very expensive conditions assignments on pre-OTs who have committed alleged security breaches far less significant than his own.

I am not saying Mayo was not a good auditor or C/S.  And I am certainly not condemning him as a person – after all, irrespective of his motives, he did play a large role in breaking the monopoly.  I am saying he lied through his teeth when he said he discovered, developed and wrote NOTs.

Now, let the fur fly from both ends.  I’ll be amused. I am simply relaying facts I witnessed.  I am heading back to to my auditing room to audit some more pre-OTs, LRH style.

More on Service Facsimiles/Computations

At Kay’s suggestion I am posting below the HCOB I referenced in last night’s post, Anatomy of a Service Facsimile.  I encourage folks to read it in its entirety.   One reason I posted about it in the first place, and the same reason I check it out on most folks once associated with Scientology Inc is as follows.  I have found that a great percentage of people who once considered themselves members of corporate Scientology had to come up with the most fantastic computations in order to survive within the Scientology Inc community.

Attempting to scale the Bridge toward more freedom, self-determinism, and individuality folks within Scientology Inc find themselves in a culture continuously attempting to strip away those very abilities.  It is like a salmon attempting to swim upstream against the most violent currents.

In that culture one is never permitted to inspect or talk about the counter current – the one that is there every day continuously and forcefully being applied against one.

Now, compare that against this description from LRH on why and how one forms a computation/service facsimile:

It is a computation that the pc adopted when, in an extreme situation, he felt endangered by something but could not itsa it.

It is called a service facsimile because he uses it; it is “of service” to him.

Aberration, anybody’s aberration on any subject, has been of some use to them at some time or other. You can trace it back. It’s been of some use, otherwise they wouldn’t keep mocking it up. But now, if you put it up against survival standards, you’d find it very non-survival.

The pc adopted this because he couldn’t stand the confusion in a situation. So he adopted a safe solution. A safe solution is always adopted as a retreat from the environmental restimulation. He adopted a safe solution in that instance and he survived. His safe solution became his stable datum. He has hung onto it ever since. It is the computation, the fixed idea, he uses to handle life, his service facsimile.

Please look at this objectively for a moment. Who within Scientology Inc is not continually presented with extreme situations/problems by Corporate Scientology itself that he or she is NOT permitted to ITSA (talk to an auditor, or any terminal for that matter) about.

That leaves but one solution, the SAFE SOLUTION – the one that seems to handle life for him or her, but in actual fact destroys the person’s life.  Unfortunately, many of us hang onto those solutions unknowingly even long after we’ve left the environment where we formed them.  Fortunately, the Old Man gave us the remedy.

I truly believe that in this particular bit of technology lies the answer to much of what we are confronted with in pt.  It is what we face in dealing with Corporate Scientologists. It is what we face in coping with any remaining connection we might retain with Scientology Inc.  And for many of us, unbeknownst to many of us, it is what keeps us suffering even after we’ve departed that particularly suppressive third dynamic environment.  The proof of the pudding is, does it work?  Well, it has been working like gangbusters in these parts.

FACSIMILE: A mental picture unknowingly created; a copy of the physical universe environment, complete with all the perceptions, at some time in the past.

SERVICE: A method of providing a person with the use of something; the action or result of giving assistance or advantage; work done; duty performed.

COMPUTATION: That aberrated evaluation and postulate that one must be in a certain state in order to succeed.

SERVICE FACSIMILE: THE SERVICE FACSIMILE IS THAT COMPUTATION GENERATED BY THE PRECLEAR (NOT THE BANK) TO MAKE SELF RIGHT AND OTHERS WRONG: TO DOMINATE OR ESCAPE DOMINATION AND ENHANCE OWN SURVIVAL AND INJURE THAT OF OTHERS.

Note that it is a computation, not a doingness, beingness or havingness. We could call this a “service computation” but we will maintain the term we have used to describe this phenomenon throughout the technology: “service facsimile.”

HOW THE SERVICE FACSIMILE BECOMES FIXED

An idea is the thing most easily substituted for a thetan. An idea doesn’t have any mass connected with it basically. And it appears to have some wisdom in it so it’s very easily substituted for a thetan. Thus the idea, the stable datum he has adopted, is substituted for the thetan.

How does this stable datum become so fixed? It gets fixed, and more and more firmly as time goes on, by the confusion it is supposed to handle but doesn’t. The stable datum was adopted in lieu of inspection. The person ceased to inspect, he fell back from inspecting, he fell back from living. He put the datum there to substitute for his own observation and his own coping with life, and at that moment he started an accumulation of confusion.

That which is not confronted and inspected tends to persist. Thus in the absence of his own confronting mass collects. The stable datum forbids inspection. It’s an automatic solution. It’s “safe.” It solves everything. He no longer has to inspect to solve, so he never anises the mass. He gets caught in the middle of the mass. And it collects more and more confusion and his ability to inspect becomes less and less. The more he isn’t confronting, the less he can confront. This becomes a dwindling spiral.

So the thing he has adopted to handle his environment for him is the thing which reduces his ability to handle his environment.

Those things which do not respond to routine auditing, that routine auditing won’t change, are rooted in this mechanism.

Therefore, it is important to find the idea on which he is so fixed. Pull the fixed idea and you free the individual for a broader perimeter of inspection.

In service fac handling the reason you get tone arm action when the fixed idea has been pulled is that the confusion which has been amassed and dammed up for so long is now running off.

RIGHT/WRONG, DOMINATE AND SURVIVE

Right and wrong are the tools of survival. In order to survive you have to be right. There is a level at which true rightness is analytical, and there is a level at which rightness and wrongness cease to be analytical or comprehensible. When it drops below that point it’s aberration.

The point you degenerate from survive to succumb is the point you recognize you are wrong. That is the beginning of succumb. The moment one becomes worried about his own survival he enters into the necessity to dominate in order to survive.

It goes: the insistence upon survival, followed by the necessity to dominate, followed then by the necessity to be right. These postulates go downhill. So you get an aberrated rightness or wrongness. The game of domination consists of making the other fellow wrong in order to be right.

That is the essence of the service facsimile.

The reason the service facsimile isn’t rational is because you have A=A=As along the whole line. Coming down the line it works itself back and forth in an aberrated A=A=A. If the individual is surviving he must be right. And people will defend the most fantastic wrongnesses on the basis they are being right.

In PT and at any point along the track, the fellow is trying to be right, trying to be right, trying to be right. Whatever he’s doing he’s trying to be right. In order to survive you have to be right more than you’re wrong, so you get the obsession to be right in order to survive. The lie is that he can’t do anything else except survive.

It isn’t that trying to be right is wrong—it’s obsessively being right about some-thing that’s obviously wrong. That’s when the individual is no longer able to select his own course of behaviour. When he is obsessively following courses of behaviour which are uninspected in order to be right.

There is nothing sane about a service facsimile, there is no rationality to it. The computation does not fit the incident or event occurring. It simply enforces, exaggerates and destroys freedom of choice over the exercise of ability to be happy or powerful or normal or active. It destroys power, destroys freedom of choice.

Wherever that zone or area is you’ll see the individual worsening. He is on a dwindling spiral. But he himself is generating it.

The intention to be right is the strongest intention in the universe. Above it you have the effort to dominate and above that you have the effort to survive. These things are strong. But we’re talking here about a mental activity. A thinking activity. An intentional activity.

Survival—that just happens. Domination—that just happens. Those are not intended things. But you get down along the level of intended and it’s right or wrong. The strongest intention in the universe.

It is always an aberrated solution. It always exists in PT and is part of the environment of the pc. He’s generating it. It’s his solution. Overwhelmed as he is by it, he is still generating it. It’s aberrated because it’s an uninspected solution. And it is something that everyone unintentionally or otherwise is telling the pc is wrong and causing him to assert that it is right. The perfect solution when he first got hold of it.

But now it monitors his life; it’s living his life for him. And it doesn’t even vaguely begin to take care of his life.

That is the anatomy of the service facsimile.

You are going to find these on any pc you audit. A service facsimile is the clue, the key to a pc’s case. The route to succumb which he blindly asserts is his route to survival. And every pc has more than one of these.

Fortunately, we have the tech to salvage him. We are the only ones who do.

Restoration of Tech: Service Facsimiles

Early on in the history of this blog RJ and I had an exchange about the “lost tech” of Service Facsimile handling in Scientology Inc.   Since, during more than a year of being subjected to daily doses of Scientology Inc’s dramatization of Miscavige’s Serv Facs, we have calmly and consistently gone about restoring the powerful technology of service facscimile handling.

In a Class VIII lecture aboard the Apollo in 1968, LRH told the original Class VIII’s that the route in Scientology had been taped by 1966.   If one fully understands that taped route, as preserved in the Saint Hill Special Briefing Course (SHSBC) lectures, one cannot help but notice the utter enthusiasm LRH expresses during his lectures on the culmination point on the route to Clear and OT: Service Facsimile handling.  Listened to in sequence – after hundreds of lectures, LRH’s tone changes noticeably.  Why?  Well, here is LRH’s description of the ability gained when one truly handles his or her real service facsimiles:

“Moving out of  fixed conditions into ability to do new things.”

Wait a second!  Isn’t the hope for just that the very reason why most people began studying and applying Scientology in the first place?

I have noted here before that the institution of the Golden Age of tech made the real handling of Service Facsimiles virtually impossible.

That is because actually discovering and handling terminatedly the Service Facsimiles of a pre-Clear (and yes, a pre-OT) requires what LRH calls “slippy auditing”.   A robot cannot and never will discover, let alone, handle a service facsimile.  LRH put it this way in HCOB 5 Sep 1978 Anatomy of a Service Facsimile, “those things that do not respond to routine auditing, that routine auditing won’t change, are rooted in this mechanism.”

Listen to the many lectures on the subject of Service Facsimile handling by LRH in the SHSBC to fully grasp that concept.  What I take from those lectures, and through SUCCESSFUL application behind the meter, an auditor has got to get down into the swamp with the pc to locate and wrassle that gator – or that gator is gonna bite the pc in the ass.  It is anything but “routine auditing.”

In early 1996 I reported directly to Miscavige that after several months of debugging cases – including extensive folder study of bugged OT cases that the tech hierarchy had given up on – demonstrated that the church of Scientology – including but not limited to the FSO – had lost the tech of Service Fac handling.  I could find very few actual service facsimile run over an extended period of time within the corporate church of Scientology.  PCs were run  instead on run-of-the-mill intentions, false purposes and other assorted beingnesses, doingnesses, and havingnesses.

Note that it is a computation, not a doingness, beingness or havingness.

– Anatomy of a Service Facsimile

The first step in actual service facsimile handling is to really clear this up for the preclear.   You are looking for a computation – which LRH clearly distinguishes from a beingness, doingness,or havingness (which are addressed by ‘routine auditing’).  One very effective method – aside from clearing  the pc thoroughly on HCOB Anatomy of a Service Facsimile – is to thoroughly clear he or she on the chapter titled “Computations” from Advance Procedures and Axioms.  Might take a bit of time, but it is time well spent. It is where LRH clearly establishes just what a computation is and clearly differentiates it from a beingness, doingness, or havingness or any other kind of consideration.

Beyond that, you cannot be a Golden Age of Tech robot.  You’ve got to roll up your sleeves and really audit the pc in front of you.  Oh, and corporate Scientology blasphemy of blasphemies, you’ve got to be in such good two way communication with the pc that if you don’t take LRH’s auditing demo tapes to heart, you are lost.

Ok, so why would Miscavige ignore my advice in 96 (he never even bothered to respond) and instead go headlong into creating robots in the place of auditors?

Well, here is clue in my opinion, also from Anatomy of a Service Facsimile:

There is nothing sane about a service facsimile; there is no rationality to it. The computation does not fit the incident or event occurring.  It simply enforces, exaggerates, and destroys freedom of choice over the exercise of ability to be happy or powerful or normal or active.  It destroys power, destroys freedom of choice.

I can tell you straight up that it is an intentional action on Miscavige’s part.  It was my own discovery of this mechanism in myself that freed me from continuing to do  the dirty work of Miscavige. I recognized the computation of my own that he so craftily used and profited from over so many years.  It is gone incidentally, and that is why Miscavige and his minions have no idea – and I mean none – who I really am and what I am capable of.

For a taste of how this lost tech, restored, can have incredible, practical impact on the everyday lives of folks, I am including a write up from a bona fide OT V Kay Proctor. I want to thank Kay for having the courage and responsibility to lay it on the line with intimate details of her life so that others might enjoy the abilities she now has.

Success Story — Kay Proctor — April 2, 2011

Marty gave me my son back last week! You see, I had a very insidious service facsimile sitting there and it was ruining my life and my son’s life.

I had asked for help in 2002 at AOLA when I was about to complete OT 3. I did not consider I could ethically attest to Freedom from Overwhelm with this glaring outpoint with my son. Though they reluctantly let me interrupt the level and do a RPEC, it only yielded minor relief.

Again in 2006 and then in 2008, I went to Flag, specifically to get some help with my son. Each time I was told to just keep moving up and it would handle itself over time as I went up the Bridge.

This was THE only glaring outpoint along my dynamics, and it was literally ruining my life, as it was a mother of an outpoint. My son was disagreeable, wasn’t winning in life, and neither was I. And now with my husband gone, it was just us and we were not getting along. The situation had to get handled for both our survival.

It took Marty 3 sessions to get to the bottom of this and it wasn’t difficult. A crazy, non-survival computation—It’s no wonder my son was disagreeable. I’d probably have killed somebody if I had this crap being run on me.

It went something like this:

In order for him to be self-confident, he had to do everything the same as I did.

That’s like, ‘in order to be happy, I have to be unhappy.’ Holy mother of god. What a load of crap. He gave me clues with his protesting of my standards and my perceptiveness. His mouth would be vile and abusive, invalidating any and everything, no matter what or why. Understandable reaction actually.

In less than 3 hours, I had my son back – quick and simple. Marty was meticulous with me until I had the ‘exact wording’ of the ser fac and then, it blew. Instantly I could grant beingness to him and it was evident when I made a phone call to him after session. He could now do or not do whatever he wanted, however he wanted and I could feel that the ridge was gone. I could also grant myself beingness to just run my life, instead of trying to mind my business and his. Whew! Did I gain some energy and attention units to use in a ‘more productive’ way.

So, now I am truly ready to get onto Solo NOTS, which I will do as soon as Jim Logan & I get ourselves through OT 6 in the next few weeks.

To sing a few praises to Marty: Now I’d like to let you know that the auditing I received was beyond anything I have ever experienced. Lovely, caring comm cycle, had a f/n at the start of session, so did not have to fly ruds with the crazy 3-swing f/n crap, did not have to go through a bazillion gyrations to get into session, which would previously consisted of: shoes off, feet on pillow, blanket over lap, another blanket made into a tent so that a heater could be at the back of my calves —  then a fan blowing on my face – plus all the significance if I had enough food, water, vitamins, bathroom, tight clothes, tight underwear, tight ass……………wtf. It would get crazy with all the gyrations.

Not one single gyration was needed. Sitting there in flip flops, no heater, no fan, no blanket, good can squeeze on the first try, f/n starting the session everytime. It was so easy. Marty did not blast me into the next room when he said “this is the session” as I always experienced at Flag, and no special gyrations had to be repeated for the Exam at the end of session.

Beautiful R-factors that made auditing safe and easy. You knew what you were looking for and were a properly enlightened pc.  When you know exactly what to expect, it runs like hot butter. Marty has set a standard for me, both for other auditing situations I may find myself in plus when I solo audit myself shortly on Solo NOTS.

I imagined it to be like LRH would audit — high, high ARC, great TR’s, completely handling the person in front of you and never feeling like you are doing some ‘one size fits all’ program, whether it indicates to you or not. It is your session and your case and the auditor is simply there to guide you.

Beautiful, standard LRH applied to a beautiful result. To say I am eternally grateful does not express the magnitude of how I feel.

I have not uttered one word to my son. In fact, he had no idea where I had been. I have been test-driving my new beingness this week.  From him, not one utterance of vile language, not one disagreement when I ask him to do something, no invalidations, and furthermore, he is in great comm with me with good ARC. The ridge that I previously felt is gone.

I no longer have a Held-Down 7.

I cannot speak high enough praises to Marty and his auditing style. May we all experience such and restore ourselves to our native state. Many, many thanks to LRH for this beautiful tech and for the standard application delivered to me at Casablanca.

Let’s Say…

Let’s say:

You find out your husband has inoperable cancer and must go through months of chemotherapy and radiation.

Let’s say:

Your husband takes full responsibility for his physical condition and directs his own course of medical treatment with the spiritual aspect being assisted by an assigned auditor and CS.

Let’s say:

After months of medical and spiritual treatment, you find out in the public venue that your husband “isn’t expected to live.”

Let’s say:

You again find out in the public venue that your husband did it wrong in his handling of the financial exchange for helping LRH.

Let’s say:

You are told about documents that exist regarding the financial exchange for taking care of LRH – not by your husband – but in the public venue and verified by an executive at ASI.

Let’s say:

You know the data is false because you were present at the meeting when the exchange was set up.

Let’s say:

At no time were you ever consulted regarding the correct data which thus prolonged the false data and resulted in trouble for twenty plus years.

Let’s say:

When your husband eventually departs – in a fully cognizant condition – you are shunned by former friends and are escorted out of the organization where you have worked for the last four years.

Let’s say:

You are then contacted by the IAS Reg who thinks you should take out a home equity loan to raise your status in the IAS because COB has “a really big situation.”

Let’s say:

You “see where this is going” and decide that there’s a great deal of counter- and other-intention in your current environment, some lasting as long as twenty plus years.

Let’s say:

You decide to take matters into your own hands and relocate to a far friendlier environment.

Let’s say:

You put others in charge of the hats your husband no longer wears as well as the hats you have not been allowed to wear and new hats you refuse to wear.

Let’s say:

Even after relocating you are called, dropped in upon, sent books off account and regged by telephone; in other words, caused trouble by those who think you should be doing anything other than what you already are doing.

Let’s say:

You discover a new venue which is far more compassionate and caring than that which you have left behind, and into which you now can communicate.

Let’s say:  Hallelujah!

My name is Rachel Denk. Dr. Denk introduced me to Scientology in the early seventies and we were married in the Seattle Org.

Dr. Denk departed this life on November 5, 2004. In later 2005, I relocated to Spokane WA, the city where I was raised and still have family. Dr. Denk was born and raised in Omak WA and still has family living there.

In closing, I deeply miss my husband of thirty years and the life we shared. But I lost far too much at one time at the hands of organized Scientology and, stated very simply, had to operate independently out of respect for both Dr. Denk and LRH. This is my statement.

Birthday Game Smoke and Mirrors

By Mike Rinder

This segment of the event is a study in the hardest outpoint to spot: Omitted Data.

First omitted.  Guillaume Lesevre used to be introduced as ED Int. Then it became “from International Management” after he had been removed from post.  Now he is just “Mr. Guillaume Lesevre.” Miscavige only tolerates him being in the same event because he doesn’t want to stoop to handing out awards to Missions and orgs (he doesn’t mind doing it to the Platinum Gluteus Maximas who provide his vacation trip/party/meal/tailor/manicurist allowance).  What’s it going to be next year?  “Please don’t clap, here’s Lesevre to hand out the stupid awards.”

Second omitted.  The LRH Birthday Game. They don’t mention achieving St Hill size so all staff earn a decent wage and can go OT with the Universe Corps – that IS the LRH Birthday Game and what he told all staff he wanted in LRH ED 339R.  Today its ONLY Ideal Orgs, and that means “Ideal Buildings” (in fact, in many cases, they are FAR from “ideal” as described by LRH – badly located, requiring massive renos, too expensive). Listen to the Shermanspeak sleaze:  “These orgs play to reach LRH’s target and so become Ideal, at which point civilization changes and destiny is guaranteed.”  Almost sounds like LRH’s target it to become Ideal.  Or, “the only sure route to a wide open road to OT is Ideal Orgs.”

Third omitted. ANY new orgs or missions. The numbers of orgs and missions remains the same, year after year, after year.  Yet, Miscavige’s grandiose description of the “Ideal Org” strategy talks about the orgs replicating themselves – establishing groups and missions in their field and these then growing and becoming new orgs. And there are NO new ones. In fact, Lesevre gives the following stats.  “175 Orgs. 488 Missions. Better than 6,000 IHELP groups, social betterment and humanitarian programs.”  Apart from those stats for orgs and missions never changing, its about 1400 short of the “more than 8,000” that Miscavige and Tommy Two-tone keep announcing (while at the same time asserting the church has “no connection and nothing to do with” an Applied Scholastics school getting negative media near the new “Ideal Org” in Melbourne.” ) Its 2400 short of the 9,000 they now have on the Scientology website:  “Over 9,000 Scientology Churches, Missions and affiliated groups exist in 165 nations, four times in just ten years.” [That IS what it says, I didnt mistype it].

Fourth huge omitted. Actual stats are few and far between. It’s all smoke and mirrors.

Belleair next to Flag is the EUS champion mission again – for the fifth time. By now it should be at least 100 staff and 500 WDAHs. Look at the picture of the staff — all 10 of them.

Kaoshuing is top mission in ANZO again. This IS a big Mission. There was a huge “Ideal Org” building bought for it a decade ago?  No mention (though they mention the buildings bought years ago for Capetown and other places).  Must have gone the way of Harlem and Battle Creek and some of the other over-hyped, never heard from since, PR dished out in earlier years.

South Coast Mission in WUS is the most expanding mission in the world. Check out the photo of the Mission staff. THAT is the most expanding Mission in the fastest growing religion on earth?

Toronto Fdn – the second place org winner in Canada. And the ONLY thing mentioned and shown is a drawing of how the outside of their “Ideal Org” will look.  NOT mentioned – they have had that org since the late 70’s!!! It is one of the buildings that LRH directed be bought by the Building Investment Committee. Still not renovated! Why? They don’t have the money! It used to be the biggest org in Canada. Now, you couldnt really explain THEIR failure on not having a big enough building?

Then we get the real sleazes, the Conts where they COMBINE the Day and Fdn “Cont orgs” and contrive them as “winners” – London, DC and LA Org are all sleazed with combined stats. And even then, the few stats they give are hardly impressive.  London got more than 5000 books in the hands of new public – that is 50 per org per week! And that is worth mentioning as one of the most impressive stats in the world of Scientology!  They show 40 staff in the photo of the London “winners”.  That’s one of the big, booming “Ideal Orgs” with a $20 million dollar building on a street with NO body traffic (hard to find a street without body traffic in London). DC gives NO stats, but they win the whole shooting match with “5X Book One hours” and “50X the number embarking on introductory routes” (whatever that means).

Somehow in EU they imported a bunch of staff to Brussels (they never had more than 8 staff in Brussels org) and they “won” the game.  The proof of their production?  “They welcome more than 500 diplomats, ambassadors and VIPs to Introductory and Sunday Services.”  Intro and free Sunday Services are combined? I guess it gives a clue that all free services are now counted as “Intro Services” – so that probably means “someone looked at an Intro Video in the robot displays” is “a person introduced to Scientology and taking their first step on the Bridge.”  Of course, there is no mention of how many hours they deliver.

The only org that really looks like it might be doing well is “Scientology Mexico” in Latam.  But the 2nd and 3rd place orgs only get a “building mention.”  But then again, this org and Roma are two recent “Ideal Orgs” so they are probably still staffed with SO member and imports from other orgs (until they have to move on to the next “Ideal Org”).

The SO Orgs are pretty sorry too.  AOSHEU’s big stat is that they “make a new OT every day” – but 7 completions per week on either OT 1, OT 2, OT 3, OT 4 or OT 5 (and that counts one “OT” for completion of the theory course and one for the completion of the solo auditing) isn’t much for an Advanced Org that services “13 time zones and 43 nations.”

AOSHUK has the distinction of producing “more Power Releases than any other SO Org” (wow) and “extending the Bridge through OT Reunions and Ideal Org briefings.”

CC Int (these may be the stats for CC Int in LA or the stats for the combined Celebrity Centers that collectively are also known as CC International) sounds pretty impressive with 3000 Basics Completions – but what that really means is 60 books read per week.  They also produced 48,000 hours of auditing (correct order of magnitude for a single Saint Hill size org) but only 1000 Releases. Really? 48 hours per release? Clearly they are not doing the “streamlined Grades” that you can get through in an intensive or two at Flag – because that is 5 Releases. Objectives? Book One? Unexplained and sounds like some pretty horrendous overrunning. Maybe they are bogging everyone waiting for that third swing?

Finally:  An incorrectly included.  Enforced butt kissing of “COB” that is required to be included in every winner’s speech. Yecchhh.

Watching Dear Leader’s March 13 “tribute” to L. Ron Hubbard is to experience two plus hours of gag-inducing tragicomedy.

But it is also the latest evidence of what Mark McKinstry said in response to Marty’s posting Miscavige’s New Shock Squads.

“Then the applause would come and the AGREEMENT and with that the reality established, despite what the real scene was. You are left with the feeling that you are alone in your observation, the one who is going to bring the party down with the facts, and so, on it goes.

“I think that under this, a vacuum was left when LRH dropped his body. Miscavige stepped in to fill that vacuum/confusion. Most Scientologists who cling to the current organization want someone in authority to stand up, tell them how right it is going everywhere (except in the sector where they are), interpret world events and explain the tech for them. And, as you say, come in and make things go right in their area sometime in the future.

“And, the fact that it is wrapped in a high-tech glitzy presentation just adds to the credibility. Like going to a movie, you can suspend disbelief for two hours and let the outpoints wash over you.”

If you watched the video above, you will observe Dear Leader strutting onto stage where he sucks up the “Standing O” with no attempt to end it (this was a crime of magnitude back when he allowed others to participate in these International Events – Heber in particular was victimized for not curtailing applause for him when he walked on stage). The adoring crowds’ applause goes on for a minute and 19 seconds as Dear Leader positively revels in it. (And note, the picture of LRH you see after 20 seconds was added by the video editors afterwards –the audience didn’t see it).  That is vomit-worthy.  What happens next is tragic.

Dear Leader presents a “rolling thunder” (a term he coined to describe a series of stats one after the other without a breath, building to one final, crazed crescendo of cheering and applause when the last bursting graph busts out the top of the screen to fireworks and shooting stars) of Dan Shermanspeak ©® recounting the accomplishments of the life of LRH.  They put everything they had into it to try to hype LRH, including over-the-top graphics and over-inflated and deceptive “stats.”  That resulted in 38 seconds of applause – less than half what was lavished on Dear Leader. Exactly as he planned it.

That one statistic tells you everything you need to know about the state of the Church of Miscavology.

The rest of the event lives up to the opening sequence.  Throughout it, Dear Leader’s strange cadence, emphasis and pronunciation has become a parody you might expect to hear on South Park representing a radical, comical politician desperately trying to be “interesting.”  And when combined with Shermanspeak©® it is virtually a foreign language.

The event was a case study in propaganda by redefinition of terms. Following is what Dear Leader said:

What LRH most wanted for his birthday – the gift of expansion.

But in this day and age, the epitome of expansion, the very action definition and the substance of the word – that’s an Ideal Organization.

But as a first word, let me once again reiterate what an Ideal Org represents – for while you have seen some magnificent structures of late, and are about to see others that will bedazzle your eyes, the real beauty of an Ideal Org is far more than skin deep. After all, they are built on tech and policy, literally.

Meaning, you can read a policy, describing what an org should be, then gaze upon an Ideal Org and there it is. And specifically, that pivotal LRH description of what one builds towards with an ideal org, and of which he writes: “The end product is not just an ideal org but a new civilization already on its way”  To exactly that end, Ideal Orgs are designed to replicate across entire continents and so bring on all LRH tech everywhere and hence so make planetary clearing a reality.

As for our headway to date, ideal orgs presently equate to better than 1.3 million square feet, but even so, there’s another way to do the math: because the fact is, our 25 ideal orgs to date already introduce more new people to Dianetics and Scientology than all other orgs combined. So yes, where stands an Ideal Org, there lies our future. And while I could tell you about our next million square feet of ideal orgs now on the horizon and presently under construction, well all you really need to foresee the future are the Ideal Orgs I am about to present.

Let’s break this gobbledygook down.

Of course, everything he says ignores clear LRH policy about org buildings (cited here before, but the most basic bears repeating:  PL 23 SEPT 70 QUARTERS, POLICY REGARDING, HISTORICAL where LRH lays out the POLICIES and RULES on the subject which include: “VIABILITY of the org is the first and foremost consideration.”  “Quarters must be close to ample and cheap student and pc housing, restaurants and transport.” “Image is a secondary consideration.” “Renovations are destructive if extensive.”)

Yet, with that in mind, he brashly claims that he is “following policy,” and proceeds with his sleight of hand, redefining an “Ideal Org” as an “Ideal Building”.  Accept that, and everything falls neatly into place. Here is how he does it:

Gain agreement with a truth:  LRH wanted expansion (let’s not mention St. Hill size and the Universe Corps and staff going OT which is what the LRH ED is really about).

Sleaze in something that sounds sort of right:  Ideal Orgs are the “epitome of expansion, the very action definition and the substance of the word.”  Except he is NOT referring to an org, he is referring to a building. Listen carefully and he actually says it:  An Ideal Org is a  “magnificent structure”.  And another Freudian slip: His new palaces will “bedazzle” you. The definition of that word is: “to cause someone to lose clear vision, especially from intense light; to confuse or disarm by dazzling.”

Add another correct sounding bit: Ideal Orgs “are built on tech and policy” – and then give “proof” of that because you can “gaze upon” one and see it (presumably because you can see the MEST: course rooms and auditing rooms… wow).

Throw in an LRH quote so it sounds really “On Source” — the end product of an Ideal Org is  “a new civilization already on its way” (presuming an actual org rather than a building).

Therefore, it’s obvious, more Ideal Orgs (Buildings) will make Planetary Clearing a reality.

And thus, abracadabra, hey presto and shazzam! – the proof of our incredible headway towards planetary clearing is that ideal orgs presently equate to better than 1.3 million square feet. !!  (Tip for Dear Leader: invest in old airplane hangars or maybe some abandoned car plants in Detroit – your square footage stat will go out through the ROOF).

But here’s the kicker. Even Dear Leader knows he has to give SOME sort of stat beyond the square feet to prove the “incredible expansion” of Scientology and the “massive forward advance” towards planetary clearing.

One might expect “Number of New Clears” – it is progress towards planetary clearing right Dave?  Or how about “Number of Grad V auditors made” (that could audit people to Clear?).  OK, maybe that’s a bit much.  How about we take it back a notch and just go for total Well Done Auditing Hours?  Student Completions?  Anything related to delivery of Dianetics and Scientology?  How about a NUMBER of anything?  You know, like the good old days: “This year we delivered X number of courses, hours, completions, whatevers.”

Well, no such luck.  It seems the best he could come up with to prove the MASSIVE international headway for planetary clearing was: “ our 25 ideal orgs to date already introduce more new people to Dianetics and Scientology than all other orgs combined.”  OMG Dave, that is monumental.  Presumably you didn’t give the number because it would be seriously embarrassing. Those 25 orgs  “introduce” more people than the other 150 combined.  But do they “introduce” 250 a week between them or 2500? No matter Dave, because the fact is that you have exposed the horrible truth your two or three fancy building per event can’t cover up:  Scientology orgs are failing miserably.  The average org (ie 150 around the world) produce just 1/8th as much as the “Ideal Orgs”. Now, in anyone’s mind that is small and failing when they are 1/8th of those empty Ideal Orgs (see next posting mentioned below).

Dave, you have to be worried:  How long before someone leaks the ACTUAL stats of these wondrous Idle Orgs?  Buffalo?  Dallas?  Malmo?  Berlin?  Madrid?  Steven’s Creek?  Seattle? Nashville? In the Vampire Empire, these are the most closely guarded secrets since the formula for Coca-Cola. Why? Shouldn’t you be proud of how you are clearing the planet with your Idle Orgs and be announcing it to the world?  You’re not shy about promoting your accomplishments. And even tout the most amazing stats — 8,000 orgs, missions and groups (yet I see the church claiming NO connection to an Applied Scholastics school in Melbourne — but bet that one is counted — probably more than once — in your 8,000).

Next installment, the smoke and mirrors of the “Birthday Game Winners” presentation.
