Miscavige’s annihilation of Tom Cruise (part one)

Every picture tells a story, don't it?

In a letter to the St Petersburg Times dated 20 June, 2009 David Miscavige promised to deliver evidence that would cause the annihilation of Mike Rinder, Amy Scobee, Tom Devocht and I.  Nearly a year, and several million dollars  in investigator fees later, Mr. Miscavige has failed to deliver on that promise. Instead, he has been busily carrying on with the insidious, and devilishly effective, annihilation of his “friend” Tom Cruise.

First, some truths from a prominent and powerful man Miscavige has also been attempting to annihilate post-humously for a couple decades now:

Now let’s say you want to stop something You want to stop something — give it things. Give it lots of matter. And the more matter you give it, the slower it will operate. And you want to stop it dead in its tracks, just empty the dump trucks on it. It’ll stop. Just give it things. Give it things that it considers quite desirable — gold watches and … and Cadillacs and mink coats and … The more you give on this, why, the uh…more upsetting it is to this person. And they…they KNOW they want to have these things, they know that, because that’s right, it says right there on Agreement One: “I want to have the MEST universe.” And it…they say they want things — but the more they get of them, the unhappier they get.

And if you want to just get rid of somebody, just completely, start giving them a lot of presents. You’ll  just…you’ll just — bye-bye. You have to exaggerate it quite a bit, but if you were handy at making things so that every…every 15 or 20 minutes, why, they could receive another present, they…they would either run away utterly or die in their tracks.

That’s one of the biggest mistakes that..that women make — or men make — in interpersonal relationships. There’s good and adequate reason for that, by the way…

…And that’s completely contrary to the way the MEST universe is supposed to run. You’re told very carefully, “Now look: if you’re a success, you get an awful lot of stuff. And you have all these things. And you can have these big beautiful homes and you can have all this way, and you can have all that way, and you can be very happy then.”  And actually you can persist in that…you can persist in that delusion, because it’s a completely backwards modus operandi and it doesn’t fit and it won’t work out that way at all. You could persist in that to kid yourself in order to keep yourself in action. But the second you cease to know it’s a pretense, you get in the trap of it.

You actually have to be in a position like this sometimes to have a superfluidity of MEST to find out what it does to you. It’s just fabulous what a lot of MEST can do to you. It makes an awful “MEST” out of you.

Now, these things are then related. And where you see these things cropping up as manias, where you see havingness mounting up and the MEST stacking up all over the place and getting higher and higher and higher, and that is more or less your object and modus operandi, you’re going to get a stop, and where you get stops, you’re going to get destruction. And where you get destruction and stop and so forth, there’s going to be more matter there.

– L. Ron Hubbard, PDC lecture “Cycles of Action”

Now, back to the photo that speaks a thousand words, the three motorcycles beautifully arrayed in front of Miscavige’s $70 million palace.  The Harley in the middle is Dave’s. The two bikes flanking it are Tom’s. What are they doing posing in front of Dave’s palace?

Well, Dave had Sea Org craftsmen and craftswomen spend fifty to seventy-five hours fully disassembling his own motorbike and giving it a custom paint job of a quality perhaps unattainable (and at least prohibitively expensive) by outside labor.  When Tom saw Dave’s bike he was so impressed it gave Dave a bright idea in forwarding his calculated plan to corrupt, stop and destroy Tom.  Dave summonsed his underpaid and over-worked Sea Org labor crew to put in another fifty to seventy-five hours on each of  Tom’s two bikes.

One-hundred and fifty to two-hundred and twenty-five hours of skilled, albeit slave, labor later – voila, another in a series of untold MEST gifts heaped upon a man who once really did have everything, but who under Dave’s program, would soon have too much.

PS: in the event anyone doubts these are Tom’s bikes:

All that glitters is not gold

I intercepted this comment from Sarge today. It is too important not to be it’s own post in my view. Here it is:

Marty, Great to see you again buddy, but you just set ole Sarge off again. Jim you shine again! Gonna get sudden. I have never seen anything more disgusting to me than the way Pat Broeker and DM spent money that did not belong to them. Pat was the biggest’ hobby horser’ I ever saw and DM had his head up Pat’s ass. They were the bobsey twins with gold and diamond everything.

Just before I went to Creston Pat and DM ran a money thing on me. I was taken to Beverly Hills to a fancy restaurant, the valet parked the Van. Why? We had a very expensive meal. I was supposed to be impressed. Wasn’t. Then I was told to pull a twenty dollar bill out of my wallet and burn it in the ash tray. They both laughed at me because they said I was too frugal and needed to learn that money was not a problem and to buy nothing but the best. To me that was waste. I know if it were up to them I would not have been on those lines as I was too honest. Had it not been for LRH I would not have been at Creston.

In contrast LRH had all the money in the world and wouldn’t spend a dime on himself unless his stats were up. Let me give you an example. While we were up at Creston, one day LRH said to me enthusiastically, “Sarge, my stats are up. I think it’s time we got some vehicles for the ranch.” I had been driving around the 160 acre property and to town in an old beat up Chevy pick up truck. It was called Kris Kringle because it was painted with green and red primer. LRH said he had done some research and found that the most reliable, and economical vehicles he could find were Subarus. He even researched out how to get the best price on them. He directed me to go out and purchase a Subaru station wagon for off-property business and a 4wd Subaru Brat for his use around the ranch. I found the best deal in Orange county Cal. I bought both vehicles and towed the Brat with the wagon back to Creston. The old man was overjoyed. He loved the Brat. It was black and the wagon was silver. And that was LRH’s fleet. And he drove around the ranch in that little Subaru and lived in his RV on that ranch till the day he died.

Briefing from the shack

Jorge Arroyo in memoriam – my first Mexican Amigo

I was saddened upon being informed that the fellow who reportedly hung himself to death on the Freewinds was Jorge Arroyo (ref: Ship of fools post by Mike Rinder).  I knew Jorge.  I trained and audited on the Freewinds for eighteen months after my blow in November 1993. The general crew were in various forms of  mystery about my status as I was on full time sec checking, auditing and training and doing seaman checksheets.  Jorge was  several years younger than I.  He was a tall, thin Mexican fellow with a thick black head of hair and full eye brows.  He worked in the engine room.

I couldn’t help but remember Jorge well because he was one of my few real friends during my glorified “rehabilitation project”.  I trained in the staff course room. Many staff were afraid to approach me and especially afraid to do meter drills with me. Jorge was different. Even with his  broken English he came right up and volunteered to go on the meter with me.  He became my most regular emeter drills twin because he had no back off, he had a very high level of ARC generally, and his needle was clean as the driven snow.  I knew it was the same guy when the person who reported the suicide said that Jorge became the favorite of every metering student over the next decade because of his beautiful, responsive needle.

Jorge had game. Basketball is my sport and during CSP he and his brother Jesus would come out and play with me and Ludwig Alpers (Port Captain).  I know hoops, and Jorge was a real baller.

Jorge liked me not because I was some former hot shot with status. He liked me because he liked people, and while respectful at how conscientious I was about my training, he was at ease and casual and genuinely friendly with me.

He wanted nothing more than to become an auditor. He followed my training.  When I started auditing people up the Bridge, he had a gleam in his eye when he asked what was it like actually auditing a pc.

Jorge apparently had a crush on the RTC Rep at the Ship, Lurie Belotti. Please don’t hold that against him, you know how that “opposites attract” sometimes works out.  Because of the impossibility of a mere snipe making advances to the lofty RTC, he had to hold it within him.  He became distraught. His auditor C/S’d him for a PAB 6 handling.   When Belotti found out, she nixed that and pursuant to her trained in DM Reverse Scientology policy, had him sent to Ethics to be handled rough and tough – punishment for what went on his mind.

The EP of RTC’s handling of this gentle soul, was that Jorge took a sheet and hung himself to death at the Freewinds. No more than five people on the Ship know that. They have been briefed that Jorge had a heart attack.

A Coroner’s inquest was called. A woman Steward was briefed to tell the Coroner that Jorge had an obsession with her and that is what lead to his suicide.  Belotti’s name and RTC were kept completely out of the record.  All documents – and there were plenty – that mentioned the truth of the matter were destroyed at RTC’s direction.

To add injury to death and cover-up, Jorge’s brother, the irrepressible Jesus, was “gotten rid of” to wipe out all memory or possible reminder of Jorge. Jesus was routed out – at RTC’s direction -from the Sea Org.

Jorge, in my view, died of the Sad Effect, as covered by LRH in HCOB 14 March 1963:

“We could call this Tearaculi Apathia Magnus and everyone would be in great awe of it. But I see no reason to follow the Latinated nonsense of yesterday’s failed sciences.  Call it something simple and the auditor will feel he can do something about it and even the pc will cheer up a bit. So it’s ‘the sad effect.'”

This is a state of great sadness, apathy, misery and desire for suicide or death.”

Nothing dishonorable about that. The magnitude of the ARC break is commensurate to the original ARC. And Jorge had an abundance of it.  Peace to his auditor who C/S’d him to be  handled in such wise.

At this moment, I deeply regret never having done anything to help Jorge get onto the TTC.  I owe Jorge.

So, Jesus, my brother, reach out; I’m gonna make it up to you. Anything you need, you got.  If you are afraid to reach directly then get hold of my man Roberto Sanchez, http://winsmexico.wordpress.com/. He is a real Scientologist. He can be trusted.

Jorge, we’re here for you.

Until then, fly in peace, brother.

ps: Is it coincidence that just before I received this news,  I began listening to He Got Game by Chuck D and Stephen Stills (to the tune of Stills’ classic ‘For What It’s Worth’) over and over?   It’s an appropriate (lyrics go far beyond the court) send off for you, Jorge, cause you definitely got game:

Ship of fools

by Mike Rinder.   As everyone who reads the glossy C of M promotional hype knows, the Freewinds is “a luxury retreat off the crossroads of the world.” An “island of sanity in a world gone mad.”  Yet, like much else in Miscavige’s perverted kingdom, there is a thin veneer of truth in the picture presented to the world and then there is what REALLY goes on out of the public eye.

The Freewinds IS a luxury vessel.  Made even more so over the last few years following a multi-million dollar refit and renovation.  This of course includes luxurious facilities for Dear Leader himself — not just berthing, but his personal dining room and office spaces beyond the offices already allocated to RTC.

The Freewinds is a favorite haunt for Miscavige for three reasons:

   a) it is outside the control of any government (except when she was boarded by French authorities while at anchor in St. Bart’s, hence no more visits to French ports),

   b) he likes to scuba dive and do underwater photography (the entire Gold base was made to watch one of his underwater slide shows like they were watching a Source briefing on LRH as a photographer with surveys done on the staff afterwards to detect any  “BI’s”).   The Caribbean is unsurpassed
on that front.

And,  c) Freewinds is remote from any other Scientology organization. So, Miscavige can goof off, have movies flown in each night, scuba dive during the day, eat out at expensive restaurants on shore and still call or write the poor fools at the Int Base and berate them about his long schedule and all the hard work he has to do due to their incompetence.  They don’t know any different and the crew on board the Freewinds think “COB” is taking a “well-deserved” vacation and are honored to have him on board!

Dear Leader stories from the Freewinds are many.  His lavish parties for Tom Cruise have been covered numerous times.  His delight in assigning individuals to clean the bilges – sometimes for weeks on end, is also well known.  (And I know this from personal experience on several occasions, along with Heber, Marc Yager and Guillaume Lesevre — though of course they will deny the Freewinds even has an engine room to protect Dear Leader).

But recently debriefed former Freewinds staff have given a fuller  picture of Dear Leader’s madness and the level of effort that is employed to cover up to keep it a “safe space” for DM to luxuriate.

First an illustrative vignette. One of the stewards who was serving DM had a cold sore.  For that, she was taken off post and confined to a room alone for a week until all evidence of the cold sore was gone. At that point she was sec checked to find out what evil purpose she had towards COB that she would have a cold sore in his presence! She was eventually busted from post altogether.

Of course, the Freewinds is also home to Miscavige’s personal bankers – the IAS.  The IAS paid for the $1500 per day scuba boat charters that routinely sat on standby for weeks on end so he wouldn’t have to plan ahead but could take off whenever he felt the urge. They also paid for lavish meals at the most expensive restaurants on the islands, as well as showering Dear Leader with gifts.

It should come as no surprise that the financial largesse spread through the upper echelons of the IAS.  President IASA and her entourage were well known for their shopping sprees in London, Paris, LA and NY and in any port of call that had name brand stores.  And when it came time for gifts to be bought for the head honchos – the already healthy paychecks of IAS staff would be increased and they would each “donate” the difference into the gift pot.  And while everyone else on the Freewinds operated on a normal SO schedule, the IAS routinely took a day off every week to “increase their havingness.”  And when their regges were discovered to be severely out ethics, little if anything would be done.  Of course, when you present Dave with trinkets of tribute and keep him supplied with unlimited fine food, wine and scuba diving opportunities, you are pretty much above the law (until Janet McLaughlin became mutinous towards Miscavige and was rounded up in late 2006 and put in the Hole – where she remains to this day, while her husband was sent to the Freewinds where he remains, refusing still to divorce her – a bizarre story which will be told here as the final chapter of DM’s final purges).

There is one other person on the Freewinds exempt from standard ethics and justice.  Dear Leader’s diving companion and on board hit-man, Captain Mike Napier.  When DM wants to threaten someone, or keep them locked up, Napier is his go-to guy and on board enforcer.  After Janet McLaughlin was busted, Dear Leader called Napier personally and told him to round up all IAS crew on board into the Starlight Cabaret, lock the doors, take their phones, pagers and computers and keep them from   communicating with anyone in the world.

So, it is no surprise that when Napier had sex with a local island restaurant waitress he went untouched.  Even worse, somehow the blame was shifted to the Port Captain Freewinds (Ludwig Alpers – a truly likable and decent man) by the CO CMO Ship, Sue Price. Captain Love Boat Napier is hated by the staff on the Freewinds – and the vast majority of them don’t even know he had out 2D.  In fact, his “ethics” handling consisted of him giving a base briefing where he handed out flimsy copies of TWTH signed by him and the CO FSSO (Sharon Webber). The crew had no idea why they were getting them and Sharon Webber aided in the cover-up.

As an aside, Sue Price spent many years at Int.   She has imported Dear Leader’s habits and routines into ship life even when he isn’t there.  Wrong targeting.  Constant Executive C/Sing though she isn’t tech trained. Heavy invalidation and evaluation. Precisely because the Freewinds is a remote world unto itself, it serves another purpose: Prison ship.

Many of you have read the story of Don Jason.  Because he was a “security risk” he was incarcerated on the Freewinds.  His passport was taken away.  His movements were restricted. He was under guard (it is a confined environment, easy to monitor).  He made a heroic escape which resulted in the Security Guard who was on watch being removed and posted as a plumber, the Security Chief being demoted and the ship’s plumber being made the Security Chief!

Others haven’t been so lucky.  One of the Ship Engineers was severely disaffected with Captain Love Boat after several run-ins with him.  He became increasingly enturbulated and was not sleeping.  He was put under 24 hour watch with full time guards and video cameras in his room.  He was not handled with standard tech and ended up committing suicide by hanging himself in the shower with a sheet.  The entire incident was covered up so as not to create a “flap.”  False information was given to the authorities.

Carol Miles, the Public Officer and public face of the Freewinds has disappeared.  I guess, like Heber, nobody dares ask where she is.  In fact, she was being “handled” under the brilliant guidance of CO CMO Ship (Sue Price) with her special style of “executive C/Sing”.  Carol’s “handlings” didn’t go well.   She made threats and became a security risk.  And what happens to inmates on the prison ship when they are too hot to handle?  They get shipped off to the prison colony – the RPF in CLO ANZO, in Sydney.

Quite a number of “problem” staff have been routed to the ANZO RPF.  It is thought to be so remote that anyone sent there has effectively been “disappeared”.   Like the 3 Gold staff who were banished to the ANZO RPF after they pissed off Dear Leader.  Those 3 (Karl Whitcher, Kip Engen and Nicolai Ciferrelli) were assigned to do the RPF twice through.  They have been there since 2004. One of them completed the first time through last year – imagine 6 years of sec checking, FPRD and TRD and now having to do it all over again!

So, this is where Carol Miles is.  She joined other “security risks” banished to the prison colony – including the former IG MAA Chris Guider who had fallen from grace when he refused to comply with an order from Miscavige to hit a Gold staff member with his swagger stick and the ex-RTC Rep FSO who knew all about Miscavige’s involvement in the McPherson matter.

Does any of this sound like standard Scientology?  Unfortunately, it is merely the tip of the iceberg. At the whim of Dear Leader, people’s lives are destroyed.  Like the 11 Int base staff banished to NY to work in Estates, then blamed for “overspends” on the Idle Org and offloaded (except Chris Beeny, who was sent to the prison colony never to be posted anywhere other than Estates – only because his parents were prominent OTs in LA), or Eric and Margit Ottman, declared and banished to Alaska because Eric accidentally ran over one of Dear Leader’s dogs.  Or, or, or… The list goes on.

Yet, Miscavige has a lot of people believing that he, and he alone, is keeping the flame of LRH’s legacy burning.  In truth, he is systematically destroying the subject and in so doing, undermining everything that LRH stood for.  His continuous present time overts must be stopped – but he is incapable of restraining himself, so enough pressure must be brought to bear from the outside to force him to cease and desist.

   It will be done.

Dear Leader’s sinking ship of fools may still buy his bullshit — or be too scared to call it for what it is. But there are a lot of people these days who aren’t cowed by his bombast, bluster and bs.  His crimes will be exposed until he is no longer in a position to wreak havoc on LRH’s life’s work.

My respects to Malcolm X

May 19th is the birthday of Malcolm X. The life of Brother Malcolm has had a profound effect upon me personally. His autobiography chronicles obvious parallels to our struggle in his discovery that a sect leader had severely corrupted the religion he had devoted his life to defending, and his journey to discover that that religion stood for love rather than hate.

On another level Malcolm did what we are trying to do for our fellows. That is, to straighten up their spines. To make them walk tall in spite of generations of propaganda telling them they should not.

The following passage from The Judas Factor by Karl Evanz recounts how Malcolm even gave  Reverend Martin Luther King a spinal adjustment at a time when he needed it:

…Malcolm was in the visitor’s gallery in the Senate building in Washington, D.C., listening to the heated debate on the proposed Civil Rights Act of 1964. When he returned to the gallery on March 27, he saw three rows in front of him the man he publicly ridiculed but privately admired: Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The two men who together symbolized the political conscience of Black America, acknowledged each other by simply nodding with a smile.

(blogger note: the “debate” was in fact a warm up for a  filibuster being organized by Southern Senators in an effort to kill the legislation; a problem Dr. King apparently had no answer for)

Afterward, as Dr. King, the Reverend Ralph Abernathy, and their entourage walked down the steps from the gallery, they noticed Malcolm X was only a few feet in front of them. King had been tremendously impressed by Malcolm X’s recent public statements urging African Americans to vote; the statements implied that Malcolm X believed that democracy could work to the advantage of America’s disenfranchised minorities.

But the SCLC president (King) was probably dismayed by the proviso Malcolm X added to his endorsement of voting, which was that African Americans should combat violence with violence when necessary for self-defense.

The crowd came to a standstill at the bottom of the stairs, and Dr. King and Malcolm X were suddenly standing side-by-side. An Associated Press reporter, stunned by the sight of America’s two foremost black activists conversing – in public no less – asked them if they’d agree to a brief interview. Both readily complied.

the critical moment captured

The reporter asked them whether they had reached any agreements in principle on the direction the civil rights movement should take, and whether Malcolm X considered the Civil Rights Bill important.

“I’m here to remind the white man of the alternative to Dr. King,” Malcolm X said, flashing his trademark Cheshire cat grin. “If the white man rejects the proposed Civil Rights Bill which Dr. King supports, members of the doctor’s organization – and hopefully Dr. King himself – will hopefully coalesce with the Muslim Mosque, Incorporated, in order to effect an end to the racial, social and economic oppression of the black man here in America.”

“How long do you expect the debate to continue?” the reporter asked, facing Dr. King. “A month would be long enough,” King answered sternly. “A creative direct action program will start if they are still talking about the bill after the first week in May.”

What would happen, the reporter wanted to know, if the debate continued beyond that point?

At first,” King replied, “we would seek to persuade with our words –” King paused for effect, and said, “then our deeds.”

The words had an ominous ring, considering that Malcolm X, the man the press often referred to as the ‘angriest Negro in America,’ was standing beside the man known as America’s ‘apostle of nonviolence.’

Then, as if to remove any doubt about the import of his statement, Dr. King made a prediction. “If this bill is not passed,” he warned, “our nation is in for a dark night of social disruption.”

As King and Malcolm X smiled approvingly at each other, with Abernathy standing in the background, photographers captured on film a moment in African American history that FBI Director Hoover interpreted as an act of treason.

(Blogger’s note: Shortly thereafter, President Johnson – the pragmatic Texan he was – began twisting Senators’ arms in private to end the filibuster and pass the legislation. The rest is known history.)

Finally, in honor of Malcolm’s legacy here is the final 8 1/2 minutes of Spike Lee’s film ‘X’, which includes the beautiful eulogy delivered at Malcolm’s funeral by Ossie Davis.

Propaganda by redefinition of words

PR Series 11:

“A long-term propaganda technique used by socialists (communists and Nazis alike) is of interest to PR practitioners. I know of no place it is mentioned in the PR literature. But the data had verbal circulation in intelligence circles and is in constant current use.

“The trick is — WORDS ARE REDEFINED TO MEAN SOMETHING ELSE TO THE ADVANTAGE OF THE PROPAGANDIST.”

These Nazi tactics are now being cranked up full force to keep DM bots in their hazy, compliant states.  The latest piece is below. What’s next, “Dave, the humanitarian” mag?

And Just Me has saved Dan Sherman a load or work by figuring out DM’s next speech:

I’m dying laughing! What’s next? I am Joe’s Humanitarian Gland?

The topper will surely be Danny Sherman’s goofy speech for DM at the next big event:

“Quite in addition to our ability to write hot checks funded by third mortgages, so, too, we will rediscover Humanitarianism. APPLAUSE!

And yes, in some instances, Humanitarianism practiced by other, lower forms of humanoids, were below the abilities of those sub-persons to perform. While even worse, Humanitarianism, while in plain view, was lost from all understanding and application. APPLAUSE!

As for why: Just as lack of wherewithal previously prevented broad-scale application of Humanitarianism, so, too, another kind of wherewithal prevented broad-scale delivery of Humanitarianism—specifically, lack of humanitarian abilities. And that is what stands behind and is the full reason for our new breed of Humanitarianism. APPLAUSE!

Yes, now we have finally discovered the missing link between the Bridge that didn’t work and the Bridge that will now surely be the final, successful Bridge better than any Bridge ever pointed to before! APPLAUSE!

“So, too, we, the Official One and Only Church of Scientology, will form a Humanitarian Political Action Committee to be administered personally by me, your humble, overburdened Chairman of the Board. APPLAUSE!

This is a necessity, for no one else among us can be trusted with such a responsibility—for it is a responsibility I am only too happy to hoist onto my already bent back. APPLAUSE!

So, too, we will be asking every loyal Scientologist to donate to the extent of their ability. And, so, too, loan officers are now waiting in the lobby ready to help you complete your additional loan applications. APPLAUSE!

If your ethics are sub-normal and your credit ratings are, notwithstanding, not full of wherewithal, you may apply for a loan from a Special Superduper Humanitarian Loan Fund that has been, heretofore, capitalized by a dozen of our Patronus Capitalus Maximus Humanitarianuses at an interest rate no greater than 29.4% per annum, notwithstanding.” APPLAUSE!

P.S. “Danny” wrote this speech before realizing that this really IS a donation drive. Gee, who’da thunk it.

Some thoughts about Independents

by Shelly Corrias (Britt)

Marty,

As you know, I have been following your blog for a while now. And as you know, I do not consider myself a Scientologist, yet I have many dear friends who are. Some, sadly, are still “in”. Many others are now out and free to pursue their own freedom. Me? I am guilty of “cherry picking” what I find useful. After 23 years in the “church”, I am still figuring out my own spirituality. But make no mistake*, I firmly believe it is my right as a human being, even more, as a United States citizen, to pursue my own spiritual path so long as it does not harm others of good will. (*thanks Danny, you trained me well and I could not resist.)

Seriously though. Something struck me today regarding Independents. You all have amazing faith and courage.

When I left the Sea Org and the Int base after 18 some years, I thought I would pay off my freeloader bill and get back in good standing, progress up the Bridge and all that. After a few weeks outside, that changed. I knew I was done. I wanted nothing more to do with those people or the subject they represented. The subject itself was so twisted and perverted. Not to run my case on you, but I was declared “clear” in 1979. I know without a shadow of a doubt that I stated the clear cog and there was no way in hell I had seen any issues on what it was or anything like that. I said it and I remember it like yesterday. It wasn’t until five or six years later that I read the HCOB that gives the clear cog, at which point I went “wow, yep, I said that! No question about it!” Nonetheless, I was “undeclared” and I’ve now lost track of how many “DCSIs” and “CCRDs” I had going back and forth between clear and not clear, plus Dianetics and Objectives and Grades and two Purifs and a Running program and endless sec checks and FPRDs. The last action I had before I left was Grade 1!!! Huh? And people, I was Sea Org – I wasn’t being regged for any of this! So it’s not solely a money making scheme, although I do believe that’s an underlying motive for DM.

After twenty three years in Scientology I was basically at the same point I started, and had no use for Dianetics or any auditing of any sort. Especially FPRD and sec checks. PLEASE NOTE: I am not saying this to challenge anyone’s beliefs. I am just relaying what happened and how upside down the practice had become. I won’t even go into the downright cruel use of “study tech” that went on at the Int base, like being forced to M9 issues en masse and not leave the building to go to sleep until you “F/Ned”.

After I left, it still took me a year or so to be able to talk to close friends or family about what I had experienced at RTC and Gold. Even then it was slow going. More than three years later, I did my first interview with the LA Times, and shortly after, with Andrew Morton for his book on Tom Cruise. Looking back, that was so very mild compared to what is being revealed today. Like a bean bag shooter compared to an UZI? Nonetheless, it helped a few others feel a little safer about speaking up and so the story goes. Fast forward four years and we now not only have whistle-blowers all over the globe, more and more people have the courage to walk away and embrace the idea that “what is true for you is true for you”. Every day!

Which brings me to my point. Independents – I applaud your courage and faith. Each of you has mustered up an incredible measure of faith and cojones. (what a great combination – faith AND cojones.) For those who believe that LRH’s teachings contain the only route to spiritual freedom, you have declared your independence from those who claim to “control” your route to freedom, for lifetime after lifetime. To me, that is brave in the extreme. That was a roundabout way of explaining it, but I hope you get my point. We may not see eye to eye, but you got my respect!

That brings me to my second point. Who on the outside is knowledgeable in trademark and copyright law? Even though I was thoroughly indoctrinated in the concept throughout my 14 years in RTC and all my other years in the Sea Org, how can anyone “trademark” or “copyright” a belief or a procedure that involves two people talking to one another? I mean, is that even possible? I believe there is a major flaw in their entire corporate set up and legal “control” over the subject and its application. OK, so I don’t have the right to go reprint the Self Analysis book. But who can legally stop me from sitting down with someone, or myself, and asking those questions contained in the book? Or even the NOTs pack. If I somehow have access to it, who can stop me from sitting down with myself or others and discussing it (read: asking the questions and getting an answer)? “Trade secrets”? The very words suggest not a religion but a for-profit business. I suspect the whole setup is a house of cards that could fall at any moment.

I feel if this were explored, we may just break the dike for others who are too afraid to walk away. I don’t believe this can stand up in a court of law. But, I am not trained in that law and others are. I feel it’s worth exploring, especially if we could then do a white paper or some sort of printed handout, in addition to whatever is disseminated through the internet. I think it would encourage others to break free, knowing that their own spiritual freedom is not at risk by doing so.

Best, Shelly

Claire Reppen

Many of you knew, or knew of, Claire Reppen. Some readers may have been audited by her. Some of you may have wondered whatever became of one of the FSO’s highest producing Class XII auditors in its history. Well, she passed away several years ago. As has become standard operating procedure within the C of M there was no rest nor fitting acknowledgment paid for the weary. As is becoming custom, we shall bypass in order to pay proper respects. The following is a eulogy written by Claire’s friend and pre-OT, OT VII Carol Kramer:

Any Scientologist that has been involved in the church for the period of the late 1960’s until 2000, was audited by or knew people who were audited by Claire. She audited upwards of 100,000 of WDAH. Her line-up included many artists and movers and shakers in their own rights. She started in Scientology in Toronto, Canada in the mid 60’s, when Fred Hare kick-started it as an old Guardian Office run “Franchise” as they called them back then. From there she went to Saint Hill, went Clear and did the SHSBC. Claire was also on the Royal Scottsman ship and did her OT levels in 1968 when the UK ban went into effect.

In the early 70’s Claire became a CL VIII Auditor at AOLA and joined the Sea Org. She also spent time on the Apollo while Ron was there. In the late 70’s she was a NOTS auditor at AOLA.
She went to FSO and became a CL XII Auditor and remained so until the release of the GAT. It was after this release that she was busted by RTC. What was her crime?Refusing to go along with DM’s new definition of an FN. You see, Claire was a true pillar of the tech and would not compromise standard tech in order to tow the line. She wouldn’t go along with DM’s altered version of an FN. Lucky PC’s! Unlucky Claire. At the age of 66 she was sent to the RPF to do hard labor.

While in the RPF Claire was diagnosed with breast cancer. She battled this for 2 years. Many people beat this disease but it helps to have a great support system. What kind of support did Claire get? You decide for yourself when you read the KR written on her by the woman in charge of the “care” of elderly FSO staff (click link at end of post to read). Just know, Claire’s integrity was so high she went to the RPF rather than deliver what she knew was out-tech. She wouldn’t compromise. Yes, Claire was a classy lady alright!

To know Claire Reppen was to know wisdom, strength, love, caring, selflessness, interest in all things, fun-loving: all the attributes that LRH would have ascribed to an ideal auditor. She was a Class XII of the highest caliber.

Claire worked endless hours in the L’s HGC. Her PC’s held her in the highest regard, the same way she felt toward them. Claire gave me a “New Life” and for that I’ll be eternally grateful.

Her standards were always high. Her watchful eyes could see. Her beautiful smile and laughter always brightened the day. I feel her presence and for that I am thankful. Claire, you’re always in my heart and are missed. What a classy lady!

– Carol Kramer

NOTE: Some of you may be turned off by the posting of the KR. I thought long and hard before posting it considering whether it would be disrespectful to Claire. However, I was reassured by several people who were very close with Claire that Claire herself would have insisted upon it. There is a another factor that tipped the scale toward posting it. After leaving the church I did several months of work assisting Mosey in her profession of helping elderly folks move out of nursing homes into private settings. We were both moved by the extraordinary pesonalities and wisdom that appeared once the heavy nursing home drugging regimen wore off. During that stint we did some research to present to the Texas Dept of Health in order to prevent discontinuation of funding for the program. Part of that presentation is appropriate here:

What did Mahatma Gandhi, Winston Churchill and John F Kennedy have in common? An abiding, expressed belief that could be paraphrased thus: The health and vitality of an entire civilizaton can be determined by examining but one factor: how do they regard and care for their elderly?

I may have contributed to her fall from grace directly or indirectly.  For that, my sincere apology. Peace to you Claire and the other long-term veteran SO members who have been disregarded, disrespected, wharehoused out of sight and out of mind and left to pass on. All of our respect goes to all you all. You know where to find us.

Idle orgs or implant stations?

Jonathan Burke spotted this gem from the 20th ACC lecture 16 – 23 July, 1958:

“Now, where aesthetics have turned against the preclear or he has become dependent on something else for his aesthetic quality and then it betrayed him, you have the neatest Rock you’ll ever have. Now, that’s a wonderful Rock. That’s thud!

This individual walked into the door of the most beautiful building he had ever seen, and they grabbed him and put him in the clink and held the body in duress and transported the soul elsewhere, you know. Fabulous situation. But he was attracted there by an aesthetic.

Well, this is the entrapment by aesthetics. And you’ll find aesthetics are a usual trap. That’s why you find, by the way, Dianetics and Scientology are not all trapped up with a whole bunch of horse-aesthetics. Get the idea? You’ll find a few of them around because they’re unavoidable. But it’s not that anybody’s against aesthetics, but we don’t want starry-eyed people wandering in the front door dramatizing for the hundred-thousandth time the lock where they see a beautiful building and walk in. Or the lock of where they hear beautiful music and walk in, where they hear a beautiful organ playing and a choir singing and they walk in the front door. See? Because all you do is collect a lot of nuts.”
