Radical Scientology’s Cointelpro

Shortly I will be exposing some documentation of fairly recent OSA intelligence operations directed against former members and members of the media.  I believe an introduction to this subject is appropriate.

One major problem with the Guardian’s Office (and its successor the Office of Special Affairs) is that they adopted the winning valence of J Edgar Hoover’s corrupt FBI.  In particular OSA has adopted the Black Ops techniques Hoover’s FBI called Cointelpro (Counter Intelligence Program).

Cointelpro was Hoover’s answer to a wave of social activism in America in the 1960s.   The FBI deployed agents to infiltrate an array of anti-war and civil rights groups.  The agents actively worked to sow seeds of dissent within those groups, and encouraged group members to commit illegal acts that they could be prosecuted for and discredited with.  One major purpose of Cointelpro was to prevent alliances being formed among like-purposed civil rights and anti-war groups. You can get a fairly accurate summation of what Cointelpro was at this link, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/COINTELPRO

I highly recommend the article so that you can recognize the extraordinary – yet subtle and covert – measures being taken by Miscavige’s OSA to as wikipedia accurately summarized Hoover’s stated aims of Cointelpro, “to ‘expose, disrupt, misdirect, discredit, or otherwise neutralize’ the activities of these movements and their leaders.”  Cointelpro is the precise pattern OSA, as directed by Miscavige, is using to combat what he considers social activist movements subversive to his command.

I post this at this time because there is a tremendous push by OSA to cause as much disruption and dissension as possible within our ranks.

To date I have found Miscavige’s “offensives” to ultimately be fruitful as his agents are necessarily exposed and the foot bullets tend to energize our movement.  But that is only because we stay alert and keep each other informed on the efforts.

Perhaps as a result of that, OSA is concentraing heavily on getting segments of the Freezone, Anonymous, and ESMB turning rabid on us and on one another.  I think there are a lot of alert folk in those sectors who hopefully can spot and expose the dirty tricks. I know some of them are actively working on it.

I am suggesting  that we learn a bit about the techniques and keep our eyes and ears alert so that OSA does not accomplish its sub product of creating dupes among us.

As one target of the original Cointelpro Ops said:

“One of the best ways to safeguard yourself from being deceived is always to form the habit of looking at things for yourself, listening to things for yourself, thinking for yourself, before you try to come to any judgment. Never base your impression of someone on what someone else has said. Or upon what someone else has written. Or upon what you read about someone that somebody else wrote. Never base your judgment on things like that. Especially in this kind of country and in this kind of society which has mastered the art of very deceitfully painting people whom they don’t like in an image that they know you won’t like. So you end up hating your friends and loving your enemies.”

– Malcolm X

And as another target of Cointelpro once said:

“The price of freedom: constant alertness, constant willingness to fight back. There is no other price.”

– L Ron Hubbard

Ironically, L Ron Hubbard and the Founding Church of Scientology were targets of Cointelpro thanks to the 1960’s intelligence apparatus placing those names on Richard Nixon’s White House Enemies List.

It is a matter of great debate whether LRH himself did not begin the snapping of terminals with Hoover’s FBI (representing the establishment that did not want new, free ideas catching fire in the 50s and 60s) by advising the implementation of fight-fire-with-fire intelligence tactics to combat Cointelpro.  LRH drew upon his own training in Cold War era Naval Intelligence.  This is a matter that I am treating in my book – as it requires quite a bit of context having unfolded over three decades.  We will explore this to some degree here as Miscavige and OSA do justify their conduct in the present with writings LRH wrote while combating Cointelpro himself in real time.

Please keep in mind while I roll this out that what L Ron Hubbard faced in the mid 1960s is NOT what David Miscavige and OSA face today. Not by a long-shot. In fact, as noted above, in Miscavige’s inimitable Black Dianetics style, it is quite the reverse.

Please also keep in mind that I am trying to educate so that we do not fall into the offerred GPM by playing the “ends justify the means” game.  It is a losing proposition and ALWAYS winds one up being the effect of his own creations.  No, we transcend this business.

David Miscavige is a dues-paying friend of the very radical establishment that sought the utter destruction of L Ron Hubbard and Scientology.  And David Miscavige is doing a far more effective job of the destruction of LRH’s and Scientology’s name than the reactionary establishment agencies ever did.  To op term with him and his goon squads would only hasten the process.

The way out is the way up.

Clean Hands

Having read every comment to my post Wholesale Violations of Priest-Penitent Privilege I want to state here exactly where I stand with respect to confidentiality of confidences shared in the practice of Scientology.

People can argue one Policy Letter and Bulletin against the other in attempts to divine where LRH came out on the subject.   They can argue it till the cows come home. That was the full-time occupation of International Management of Scientology – about fifteen years ago when they were last constituted – and they wound up accomplishing nothing but becoming slaves.

The problem with analyzing every word ever written over time is that you are going to find apparent contradictions.  For one, you are going to run into the same conundrum discussed here before (in the context of Disconnection, and other issues) – the murky 80-86 period when all LRH communications were filtered through SPs.

There are dichotomies inherent throughout the subject of sec checking vs. confessionals.  I discussed this in a video interview in early 09 (to the right of the screen click on the segment titled Abuse of Trust):

http://www.tampabay.com/specials/2009/reports/project/rathbun.shtml

LRH emphasized in the St Hill Special Briefing course that in the application of Scientology there is no substitute for understanding.  He emphasized it on Class VIII. He emphasized it on Org Executive Course.  You could remember all the tech volumes, all the admin volumes, and every lecture LRH ever did – and you might not UNDERSTAND a blessed thing about applying Scientology toward the betterment of people.

Now, there are many technical facts. They are technical facts because when recognized and applied they create an intended result.  My understanding of the importance of  ABSOLUTE TRUST BETWEEN AUDITOR AND PC is taken from this important technical fact (from LRH delivered on 2 January, 1960 during the State of Man Congress, a seminal series that explained the importance of allowing a pre clear to let go of withholds on his/her route to Clear):

Now, I’ve told you for a long time that auditing was a third dynamic situation.  And sure enough, we have to clear somebody on the third dynamic before we clear him on the first. And all those case failures that we had to this time have been because we’ve been trying to clear people on the first before we cleared them on the third. Do you see that?

An auditor-preclear situation is a third dynamic situation. That’s a third dynamic situation. And clearing a person starts right there in that auditing session. Now, any HCA can tell you better than I can — I think the number of the Auditor’s Code is 9, though, isn’t it?  Isn’t that it?  Whichever one it is. It’s “two-way comm must be established.”  It’s a breach of the Auditor’s Code actually.  We’ve had it with us for years. But what did this mean?

Well, this meant, essentially, that the preclear had to be willing to talk to the auditor. Well now, several things have to be guaranteed before this takes place. And one of the things that has to be guaranteed is that the preclear has some security in talking to the auditor that that information  not be falsely used.  Isn’t that right?

audience: Yes.

So this leaves us with an organizational responsibility heavier and bigger than we have ever had in the past.  We’ve now got to go all out and make sure that a certificate means, wherever it is to be found, that confidence can be reposed in the person as a confidant.  Isn’t that right?

audience: Yes. Uh-huh.

That organizationally, the information passing over organizational channels and so forth is inviolate — we have to be able to guarantee that, right?

audience: Right.

In my view,  there is a technical fact here.  If a pre clear has the slightest idea that he or she is not ABSOLUTELY privileged to say whatever he/she wants to say in a session, without the slightest consideration that whatever he/she says can or will be used against him or her, then by DEFINITION, one does NOT have an auditing session.

The proof is in the pudding. And while it apparently drives Miscavige absolutely bonkers that we are such purists on this subject at Casablanca, the proof is in the results.  And this particular understanding happens to work for us.

“Well”, some say, “what about reforming bad behavior?”

I say, that is a byproduct of auditing (including the relief from transgressions) because, unlike Radical Scientology, I happen to agree with L Ron Hubbard that beings are basically good.  When you help them to become more themselves (the entire aim of any auditing), they start operating more and more toward survive across all dynamics. There are literally dozens of St Hill Special Briefing Course lectures that describe how this is so, and how one can witness it for himself by creating an auditor/pc relationship that makes the disclosure of trangressions ABSOLUTELY safe, with no external consequences.

“But”, someone might ask, “what about security?”   I agree with Amy’s comment on the blog to the effect of  “do an A-J check, if that is your obsession.”   And with, I believe Margarget, who said something to the effect, “use other means to investigate security threats.”   And with L Ron Hubbard who said, “So the ogre which might eat  us up is not the government or High Priests.  It’s our possible failure to retain and practice our technology.”

My policy is that I don’t care about the content of people’s transgressions. I make no note of them – beyond perhaps one word beside a read or blowdown if it is required for future processing.   I don’t do “Stenographic Auditing”, a practice outlawed by L Ron Hubbard on 10 July 1969 by the HCOB Stenographic Auditing.  Incidentally, try finding that HCOB in the church, or any of the Tech Vols published under the direction of Miscavige.  So, even if Radical Scientology broke into my house, broke into my safe and stole my pre clear and pre OT folders, not even they could make my pc’s and pre-OTs guilty of their own confessed overts.

That is Radical Scientology’s intent and standard operating procedure.

Again, LRH from State of Man Congress:

The greatest overt act in the world is making other people guilty of overt acts.  That is the greatest overt act in the world — about which, more later.  So don’t think at this moment that I’m trying to make you guilty of overt acts!  The only thing I’m trying to do to you is get you Clear!  That’s all I’ve got in mind.  And that’s why no resistance, no attack for ten years has been able to get anywhere on Dianetics and Scientology. Because basically, as far as the subject is concerned, there was nothing to hide. That’s why we’re still alive.”

And that is why, in my opinion, we are still alive and flourishing.

And that too is why, in my opinion, the church is dead.

Black Dianetics – Clear Extortion

From HCO Bulletin 12 September 1978R (rev 2 Dec 85):

URGENT – IMPORTANT

DIANETICS FORBIDDEN

ON CLEARS AND O.T.s

New Era Dianetics or any Dianetics is NOT to be run on Clears or above or on Dianetic Clears.

This applies even when they say they can see some pictures.

Anyone who has purchased NED auditing who is Clear or above must be routed to an AO or Flag to receive the special NED Rundown for O.T.s. They are NOT to be run on regular New Era Dianetics.

David Miscavige has ordered that hundreds of O.T.s be audited on Dianetics. Not just a session or two, but intensive after intensive. Four to five intensives on one OT I audited. An OT who had already been put through OT 5 three times in Miscavige’s implant factory, once known as the mecca of standard tech. The situation was exacerbated by one sec check after another to be sure the subject became interiorized to the point of wanting to pay more and more to end the misery. In the midst of all this drama, Flag personnel were applying duress to extract a cool half million dollars – not for services, but for straight “donations” for Idle Orgs, Super Power, and IAS. A significant part of the duress was reversing Ethics principles to threaten the future existence of the target’s family.

Our own Tony Phillips corroborated this type of treatment in response to the introduction of this series:

Here is an example of Black Dianetics.
While on OT7 on one of my “refreshers”  ( that is what they call your bi-annual checkup) I had to get an “advance program”. This meant that I first got 5 intensives of sec checking (approx 30k) this consisted of lots of grinding on o/w stuff. Sometimes the auditor would go over and over the buttons to try to get a read on me or to see why I wasn’t “f/ning”. (maybe no three swings) this was extremely painful and grindy and expensive. The expense just added to the BPC. Next was the R factor that I wasn’t Clear. (MID OT7) Then I proceeded to get three intenives of NED. I later found out there is a C/S series that talks about not mixing major rundowns. Here I am in probably the biggest rundown delivered in Scientology and am getting TONS of unnecessary sec checks which communicate= YOU ARE BAD AND EVIL. Next they invalidate the state of Clear just for fun on top of the first course of sec checks and I now have a bill for about 50k.
That is pretty hard to choke down.

Tony has previously disclosed on this blog the significant sums of money that were extracted from he and his wife Marie-Jo while they were subjected to this mental and emotional duress.

In the above-referenced HCOB, LRH used the terms “Urgent” in italics, “Important” in italics, and “NOT” all caps. And yet, the treatment described above has been proven to be the rule rather than the exception. How much more reverse can the subject be applied?

Any Class VI, Class VIII, Class IX or Class XII who violates this HCOB is knowingly driving the anchor points of an OT back into the MEST universe.

Any public who has had a NOTs RD – if it were 1/100th standard – knows why this HCOB should never be violated.

Yet, it has become standard operating procedure at Flag.

The inval, the eval, the collapsing and bottling up of one’s space accomplished by such Black Dianetics practices of putting O.T.s back on Dianetics (compounded with intensive after intensive of evaluative and invalidative sec checking and ethics handling) is enough to – and has – turned once winning and prospering Scientologists into the apathetic and in some cases even enemies of the subject. It is the abuse of Dianetics and Scientology for the purpose of making one more tractable, more compliant, and more at effect. Ironically, and sadly, the very aims of circa 1950 institutional psychiatry Scientologists are conditioned to believe is the present time enemy of mankind (and thus must forfeit the bulk of their savings to combat).

LRH said this about Black Dianetics in the Journal of Scientolgy issue 3:

In order to resolve insanity, it was necessary to release the natural laws discovered in Dianetics. When they were released it became possible to create insanity at will. And even more insidiously, complete control of a human being can be effected without insanity being demonstrated by him.

Can someone point to a single psychiatrist who has attempted to use the principles of Dianetics to create insanity? Or a government agent? Or a drug company researcher? No. The only one I have witnessed dedicatedly engaged in such a pursuit is David Miscavige. And it is all the more insidious as none of his victims would think to look internal, let alone at Miscavige, for the source of his or her travails.

Next, consider this from the PDC lecture Formative State of Scientology; Definition of Logic:

So anybody that knows the remedy of this subject, anybody that knows these techniques, is himself actually under a certain responsibility – that’s to make sure that he doesn’t remain a sole proprietor. That’s all it takes, just don’t remain a sole proprietor. Don’t ever think that a monopoly of this subject is a safe thing to have. It’s not safe. It’s not safe for man; it’s not safe for this universe.

To compound the felony, Miscavige has actively withheld the remedy for any person with uncertainty about his Clear status who has already progressed on the O.T. Levels. Obviously that includes those pre-OT’s implanted with uncertainty, where there once was none, by Radical Scientology C/Ss. The remedy was devised by LRH. It is a two question C/S that LRH wrote for such situations. I have successfully done the C/S on more than a dozen people, both while in the church and outside of it. That it is being actively forbidden from use within the church – instead creating bank to audit for pre-OTs – is perhaps the most egregious Miscavige crime I am aware of to date. It is so simple, and spot on, it never takes more than a short session to execute. And then, voila, no more question about Clear for the rest of the ride through the OT Levels. Miscavige is very much aware of it because I reported directly to him its successful application on prominent public members of his “church” while doing debug auditing as Inspector General. Prominent public members he urgently ordered me to handle because they were so ARCXen as to be on the verge of publicly parting with Scientology.

Compare this activity to what LRH said in the same PDC lecture quoted from above, on Black Dianetics:

It’s a very simple remedy. And that’s just make sure the remedy is passed along. That’s all. Don’t hoard it. Don’t hold it. And if you ever do use any black Dianetics, use it on the guy who pulled Scientology out of sight and make it so it wasn’t available. Because he’s the boy who would be electing himself “the new order.” We don’t need any more new orders – all those orders as far as I’m concerned have been filled.

Please note that Miscagive himself directed that these words of L Ron Hubbard be edited out of his Golden Age of Knowledge edition of the PDC lectures, https://markrathbun.wordpress.com/2009/09/04/reverse-black-dianetics-scientologys-1984/

Is there any doubt now as to his motivation?

I have openly shared the LRH C/S with C/Ses and Auditors who have inquired, and will continue to do so. I will not publish it out of respect for those who have not yet received it who need it. To do so would be as suppressive as publishing the Clear cognition.

To those who want to engage in a debate about whether this constitutes “verbal tech”, debate amongst yourselves. I am not withholding something that only a moron with a double digit IQ couldn’t remember, that I applied while in the church and continue to – successfully every time – outside the church. Particularly, when it is the REMEDY to Miscavige’s most heinous form of Black Dianetics at the upper end of the Bridge.

At the heart of Miscavige’s operation is terror of the idea of O.T.s reaching. And so, here is how the operation goes – from PDC lecture ARC, Force, Be/Do/Have:

Too much inflow is what’s wrong with the guy. He’s become the effect of energy. He agreed and agreed and agreed and even though he told everybody he agreed they still make him agree and they still used force on him. So he agreed and agreed and he agreed some more, and he still agreed, and they still told him; he agreed, and so they use some more force on him, just for variety.

So at this time he gets frantic about agreeing, and he says ‘but I’m agreeing! But I’m agreeing like mad! I’m a conformist to end all conformists!’ And so forth, so just for variety’s sake, the MEST universe just uses some more energy on him. It has no valve on it that said ‘this person has agreed enough.’ The end of that track is ‘It doesn’t matter what I agree to, I’ll be wrong,’ and the real end of the track is ‘Well I have no responsibility whatsoever, I’m completely insane.’

The result of all this is low-toned seriousness.

Having directed peoples’ attention toward confronting some fairly serious evil, let us not forget that the real objective of Scientology is quite the reverse.

From PDC lecture Flows, Characteristics Of:

And the more serious you take the game, the less chance there is of winning. The bottom of the tone scale is “Lose”, and the top of it is “Win.” This tells you it takes lots of space, and lots of unseriousness to win.

These things called “universes” are games. And really the most valuable thing that a thetan possesses is his spirit of play. His spirit of play is a sensation of play, and is not just energy. It’s a tremendous sensation. A guy has practically lost it if he’s here on Earth at all. Spirit of Play. It’s tremendous: he’s depending on all sorts of the soggiest, low scale emotions imaginable in order to get any sensation. In substitue for what? Spirit of Play.

Black Dianetics in Radical Scientology – Introduction

This is the first in a series of posts on the subject of Black Dianetics and how it is being practiced in present time by the “church” of Scientology.

I was prompted to write this series based upon my having recently audited folks who have received services at the Flag Service Org (FSO) and Flag Ship Service Org (FSSO) – the highest “meccas” of Radical Scientology – in the past couple years.  With more Scientologists awakening, refugees of Radical Scientology who were “serviced” in 08 and 09 have arrived.  Thus, I am finding out just how grotesquely and rapidly the dwindling spiral toward total Black Dianetics is taking hold in  Radical Scientology.

As an introduction, and for orientation, I offer the following quotations from LRH’s Danger: Black Dianetics! and The Loophole In Guarded Rights, which establish the need for this series.

The first quote gives some explanation for the oft repeated question on this blog, “why do Scientologists continue to put up with it?”

A person on whom Black Dianetics has been employed seldom retains the sanity or will to make a complaint, or does not know he has been victimized. In addition, persons claiming such offenses against their persons are commonly catalogued by doctors as suffering from delusion.  Thus the employer of Black Dianetics can escape unpunished under existing legal procedures.

The next quote tends to shed light on why Miscavige has created eighteen websites and blogs dedicated solely to destroying Moving On Up A Little Higher and the independent movement it represents.

The processes of Black Dianetics can be remedied by what might be called White Dianetics, in most cases.  If any group desired to use the phenomena discovered in Dianetics to enslave an individual, a group, or a nation, its first step would be to place White Dianetics out of bounds, to illegalize its practice, and to condemn the tenets contained in it.  To debar the general public practice of White Dianetics is to make possible a general unpublic practice of Black Dianetics.

The final quotation expresses the importance of exposing the precise practices of Black Dianetics being employed to control, weaken and destroy people.

In order to resolve insanity, it was necessary to release the natural laws discovered in Dianetics. When they were released it became possible to create insanity at will. And even more insidiously, complete control of a human being can be effected without insanity being demonstrated by him.

The release of these laws and the whole of Black Dianetics is necessary if a long range program of prevention is to be effected.  So long as Black Dianetics remains the property of the very few, a very great many more will suffer eventually than those few who will die because of the publication of this material.

Thus, the first basic principle of Black Dianetics: So long as a natural phenomena remains the knowledge of a few and is denied to the many it can be utilized to control the many.

Time for a little move up the confront of evil scale in my estimation.  Flag and FSSO have been converted by Miscavige into Black Dianetics factories.  This series will expose how, and what processes he is utilizing to effect this travesty.

Miscavige Attempts to Frame BBC’s John Sweeney

For the past several years LRH PPRO UK, one Bob Keenan, has been doing nothing but running intelligence operations directly for David Miscavige, beating and hazing Int staff in the UK directly for David Miscavige, or doing incredibly criminal regging for Idle Orgs directly for David Miscavige. That is how Miscavige deploys his favorite L Ron Hubbard Personal Public Relations Officer. This is an example of how David Miscavige covertly black P.R.s the Founder in a more effective way than all Scientology haters combined can do.

Miscavige started bypassing OSA on operations of a very sensitive nature several years ago. They were too incriminating and too illegal for OSA to be trusted with keeping them from winding Miscavige up in the news or jail. Keenan fancied himself a Cugine (a young ambitious gangster who will do anything to climb the ranks in the mafia). Keenan funded such operations by approaching former GO/OSA public (such as David Gaiman and Andy Hutton) for cash donations. Keenan would then give the cash to “media/invest professionals (MIPs)”(his operatives) so nothing about their dirty deeds would appear on church books. MIPs are generally alcoholic ex-Fleet Street tabloid reports who will do anything against a former colleague for a little drinking money. Keenan had a whole stable of them.

An MIP with Mike Rinder and Bob "Babbo" Keenan

In Autumn 2009 Keenan was summoned to the US by Miscavige and asssigned the task of taking me out, by any means necessary so as to squash the Independent movement. He set up a number of Wile E. Coyote operations many of which are still operating today, including the several juvenile anti-Marty web sites and blogs. All of his ops – backfiring as they inevitably do – have ultimately contributed to the forward progress of the Independent movement. Bob, who was once a cugine, is today merely a Babbo (a mafia underling who is considered to be useless).

The following is taken from a 2007 despatch from Miscavige in which he critiques a Bob Keenan proposed operation to “get Sweeney (John of BBC fame) busted.” The proposal was for a hired resource to befriend Sweeney so that he might set Sweeney up for some illegal activity that Sweeney would then be “gotten” for, fired by the BBC, discredited, and nullified as a threat.

Here are David Miscavige’s verbatim instructions to Babbo Bob Keenan.

MEDIA/INVEST PROFESSIONAL: Speaking of paying people, the only problem with this proposal is that if word leaks out on that, it sounds like we’re paying to “get Sweeney.” The budget isn’t the problem. Doing it on the product basis of “getting him busted” won’t look good if it comes out. You of all people should understand how this works. Solve it. Solve it while not losing the media professional.

Miscavige’s contribution to the plan to frame an internationally renowned journalist (a plan he ordered in the first place) was advice to adjust the wording so the word could not leak out that the church was paying someone for the product of “getting him (Sweeney) busted”, as that would backfire on the church.

In other words, Miscavige’s contribution is to encourage the illegal program, and to compound the felony with slick cover up.

Ultimately, Babbo Bob failed to get Sweeney busted.

Tommy Davis was right when he asserted to the St Petersburg Times that David Miscavige gives a whole new meaning to the term “religious leader.”

Worse Than Fair Game?

I have been criticized by Scientology haters for not laying blame for the abuses and demise of the church of Scientology on L Ron Hubbard.  Some have pointed to my refusal to credit the Fair Game Policy (SPs may be tricked, cheated, lied to, sued or destroyed without any recourse to Scientology justice) as being the chief motivating policy behind the evil and criminal deeds Miscavige’s Office of Special Affairs (OSA) and RTC routinely commit against those who refuse to comply with the dictator’s reign.  My response was, and is, that 99% of staff, including the Sea Org, have not even heard of the Fair Game policy, so of course they do not apply it.

What then does justify the criminality demanded by Miscavige in the minds of those who feel they must comply? Certainly he lacks the charisma personally to make people want to  harm others to protect him and his regime.  While providing some assistance to Daniel’s defense preparation, I was asked by some people involved, “what makes these people (OSA) think what they are doing is ok”?  It prompted me to do a little soul searching on the subject. I knew that I’d do something similar, perhaps not as over-the-top and vicious,  if I were confronted with similar circumstances back in the day. What motivated me to comply?  What justified my actions in working to destroy other human beings when I set up OSA and worked through it for so many years?

The answer was HCO PL 12 February 1967 The Responsibilites of Leaders

Please note that LRH wrote the Policy Letter for the Org Executive Course, and issued it as Admin (Administration) Know How Series 13.  He did not make it confidential.  He did not issue it to the Guardian’s Office (predecessor of OSA).

The Responsibilities of Leaders is one of the more widely recognized and revered policy letters of the thousands LRH wrote.

While the policy letter sets forth some interesting  and insightful principles concerning the subject of power, it has been abused by executives on many occasions throughout the years.

Miscavige used such an abuse as part of his own push toward power in the early eighties.  A couple of Mission Holders, most notably one Kingsley Wimbush, used Responsibilities of Leaders as an integral part of a process called “De-dinging.”   Wimbush would gather staff and public at the end of the evening in the course room of his mission. He would have them read The Responsibilities of Leaders.  He would then insist that properly interpretted the policy required all of those who depended upon his “power” (all staff and public) to flow “power” to Wimbush.   He told them that the power flow he desired was money, and he’d pressure the staff and public to fill his hat with bills, the larger the denominations the better.

With this information Miscavige grotesquely violated this provision of The Responsibilities of Leaders: So to live at all in the shadow or employ of a power, you must yourself gather and USE enough power to hold your own – without just nattering to the power to “kill Pete”, in straightforward or more suppressive veiled ways to him, as these wreck the power that supports yours.

Miscavige did so by writing the most exaggerated, alarming and vicious reports about Mission Holders.  In fact, he used the Wimbush abuse of The Responsibilities of Leaders to unjustly paint dozens of Mission Holders with the same color.  His reports were so “Kill Pete” in nature that he led LRH to believe the Mission Holders were in fact government operatives out to kill LRH.

Ironically, or perhaps predictably, once Miscavige rose to power through such shifts, he eschewed virtually all LRH policy, but for one: The Reponsibilities of Leaders.  Apparently, Miscavige recognized how one (Wimbush for example) could get people to do the most irrational and off policy things by fixating their attention on this one policy.

Ironically, or perhaps predictably, Miscavige was obsessed with the very paragraph I quoted above. But, not the line I quoted. The rest of the parapraph, from point 6 of the 7 points about power:

He (the Power) doesn’t have to know all the bad news, and if he’s a power really, he won’t ask all the time, “What are all of those dead bodies doing at the door?”  And if you are clever, you never let it be thought HE killed them — that weakens you and also hurts the power source. “Well, boss, about all those dead bodies, nobody at all will suppose you did it. She over there, those pink legs sticking out didn’t like me.”  “Well,” he’ll say if he really is a power, “why are you bothering me with it if it’s done and you did it.  Where’s my blue ink?”  Or “Skipper, three shore patrolmen will be along soon with your cook, Dober, and they’ll want to tell you he beat up Simson.”  “Who’s Simson?”  “He’s a clerk in the enemy office downtown.”  “Good. When they’ve done it, take Dober down to the dispensary for any treatment he needs. Oh yes. Raise his pay.”  Or “Sir, could I have the power to sign divisional orders?”  “Sure.”

Miscavige crammed me and ordered me to cram others on The Responsibilities of Leaders many times; all in the context of emphasizing the brutal, blind loyalty requirement aspect of it as outlined in the text cited above.

Miscavige and his wife Shelly required RTC executives to read several books on Simon Bolivar (the subject of The Reponsibilities of Leaders policy letter) to drive the point home.

Did anyone notice that one of the first Miscavige “re-issued” LRH books that was released in the late eighties after LRH’s death was the Ethics book, and that suddenly it had 12 pages of The Responsbilities of Leaders added?  From thenceforth, DM’s control manual was required reading and a part of one’s hat, not only for staff but for public.

You don’t think it has become part of every corporate church Scientologist’s hat?  Well, Miscavige also slipped it into Volume 0 of the OEC, the Basic Staff Hat.

I assure you it was David Miscavige who personally ordered The Responsibilities of Leaders into Vol 0 and into the Scientology Ethics book.

Now, recognize that while this policy was being crammed into the skulls of all Scientology executives, with particular emphasis on the segment that would suggest to some that committing crimes including murder is quite expected of anyone “on board”, Miscavige was busy turning the entire church PR and Marketing apparatus onto positioning David Miscavige as being the ultimate “Power” of Scientology.  The guy who should have bodies slayed and disposed of quietly on his behalf by anyone who is “on board.”

As interpretted and applied by Corporate Scientology Responsibilities of Leaders in some ways is more nefarious than Fair Game. At least there were some boundaries with Fair Game.  It was couched in the passive. That is “may be” lied to, cheated, sued…..”without recource” to Scientology justice.  You also had to be declared SP to receive that treatment, and back in the day you could always get a comm ev to challenge the SP declare.  Now, Miscavige only has to look at someone sideways, or express his displeasure about someone, or finger someone for execution – and the bots are expected to rally into action, by whatever means necessary, in order to protect the power they depend upon.  Miscavige has slaughtered all Justice lines in the church and for going on twenty years there has not been a straight comm ev available for anything.

By any means necessary, towards anybody regardless of their status and worth, with no recourse possible.

I am not at this stage passing judgment on the wisdom of the inclusion of point Six of the seven points of power in the original policy letter. That may or may not be a debate at some time in the future.  Fact of the matter is, to focus one’s attention on that passage exclusively, to make the policy (originally an Admin Know How policy) part of the Ethic of a Scientologist, to make it part of the Basic Staff Hat, while continuously berating all high level executives of the organization to apply it unquestioningly on behalf of the only recognized “Power” of Scientology, resulted in a lot of otherwise decent people doing a lot of ugly things to other people who didn’t deserve that treatement.

LRH arrives at Creston

by Steve “Sarge” Pfauth

Toward the end of my years as ‘rover’ I lived in an RV park in a small town called Devore. Devore was a little town north of San Bernadino California. I coined the term ‘Rover’ as I didn’t really have a post. During those years I just floated around and did backup stuff for Pat Broker and LRH. We used the Devore RV park for ‘meets’ with DM and JB and a safe place for Pat and I to operate from. .

Early 1983, after LRHs birthday in March, Pat brought a horse to Devore. The horse was a beautiful thoroughbred mare named ‘January’. January was a birthday present from Pat and Annie Broker to LRH. We found a local with a corral for rent in the town of Devore and I took care of ‘January’. I fed, brushed and curried her and would ride her around the corral bareback (didn’t have a saddle). She loved me and I her.

One day in early May ‘83’ Pat came with a horse trailer and we loaded January up and off they went. Pat also had me look for another RV park where we could park an

RV or vehicle. I found a place on hwy 95(?) west of Victorville, Cal. It was a little RV park tucked away in a box canyon in the mountains. Later on when I was courier at Creston I would use this park as a vehicle relay point to change vehicles before going to Int (S) or LA. Well, after the Beverly Hills restaurant thing where Pat and DM had me burning a 20 dollar bill, I knew something was up.

It was mid May of ‘83’ when Pat showed up at the Devore RV park and told me to

pack up my stuff. He said I was moving and wouldn’t be back. We drove for a long time and finally we arrived at the sleepy little town of Creston. Creston was a small town in the coastal range of California in San Luis Obispo county. This was horse country.

Kenny Rogers had a big horse ranch there. Creston had two bars (Longbranch and Loadingshute), a Church, a small school, Post office and a few houses. Whispering Winds Ranch was about a mile south of town on a private road.

Pat didn’t tell me where we were going until we made the turn south of Creston. Pat said I was going to a ranch to work for the ‘old man’. Pat told me that I needed to choose an AKA (also known as) name to use. We had the radio on and the group ‘Carpenters’ were singing ‘its only just begun’. So I said Carpenter. I needed to choose a first name and I had to eliminate other names I had used. I thought about it and I just wanted to be an ordinary ‘Joe’. So now I was ‘Joe Carpenter’.

We got settled in and Pat showed me around the ranch. I saw my old friend ‘January’ and she was as glad to see me as I her. I also met ‘Rojo’. Rojo was a large ‘American saddle’ horse that we got with the property. Rojo was suppose to be my horse. He was a gelding and had a great disposition. We got along fine.

I started to work the next day and met the electrical contractors that installed all the electrical for the RV hookups at the stables. I ran all the water lines and plumbing etc. I went to town and bought lots of tools etc to setup the place. The ranch had been neglected and was very run down after a messy divorce by the previous owner. The ranch looked bad but it had potential. Lots of work to do.

After a couple weeks of setups, about early to mid June, we had completed the setups and were ready for LRH. Pat took me for a walk and stopped me and said “Sarge! If you ever blow, I will track you down and I will kill you”. It was tone 40 and meant to impinge. Now, Pat and I didn’t always agree but we got along and I thought we were friends. This just blew my mind. Anyway he told me he was going to go get ‘the old man’ and Annie and to expect them mid to late afternoon.

I hung out at the stables and cleaned the stables apartment and took care of the horses etc and waited for his arrival. I was very nervous. I double checked everything.

There were two vehicles. The ‘Bluebird’ was a large bus converted into a motor home. The ‘Country Aire’was a 40 foot long trailer pulled by a truck. The ‘Bluebird’ entered the gate first and stopped about 50 yards from the stables next to the lake. Annie was driving. I was standing at the end of the stables when LRH came bounding out of the ‘Bluebird’ and yelled ‘SARGE!’. Yikes! Anyone who knew LRH can attest that he had a booming voice. Now all the neighbors knew he arrived. I was surprised and happy at the same time. I hurried to the Bluebird to greet him. By the time

I got there Annie was there beaming at me. She said ‘hello’ and gave me a big hug.

I don’t remember seeing LRH so excited. He was giddy. All smiles and I could tell he was happy to see me and finally have a home again. Wow!

LRH gave me a conspiratorial look and asked “what’s your handle”?

I said “Joe Carpenter”. He laughed and told me that was a great name. Made me feel good as I thought so too.

Then he said my name is ‘Jack Farnsworth’, and he laughed again. I told him that was a great name. We exchanged ‘shore stories’ so we were on the same page. Pat was Mike Mitchell, the owner of the property. Annie was Lisa Mitchell, Mike’s wife and LRH was Lisa’s father. I was Joe, a friend of the family hired to help run the property.

LRH stared at me, still smiling, and asked me “who do I look like”? I said I don’t know. He said “ no, really who do I look like”? He could tell I was uncomfortable so he said “Colonel Sanders!” He laughed again and then we all did. He really did. His hair was long and white with a little red and he had a beard and he was dressed like a southern gentlemen.

Pat and I got the RVs hooked up and everyone settled in while I cooked dinner. I setup a card table in the stables living room and we all sat around eating and talking. It was great. LRH loved what I cooked and that was the end of the first day at Creston.

Has Miscavige’s “church” Run Out of Clears to Invalidate?

David Miscavige’s level of desperation is apparently red lining, as evidenced by this OSA operative email received by Monique “Mosey” Rathbun yesterday.

email:

Dear Mosey,

Per the below HCOB your state of “clear”, as declared by Mar-tey,
is hereby CANCELLED!

HUBBARD COMMUNICATIONS OFFICE
Saint Hill Manor, East Grinstead, Sussex
HCO BULLETIN OF 5 MARCH 1979RB
REVISED 2 DECEMBER 1985

DIANETIC CLEAR FALSE DECLARES

Any org staff declaring a Dianetic Clear “achieved in other
practices” is subject to expulsion from the Church.

Technically, a very few thetans have never been anything but Clear.
These few didn’t “go Clear” on anything; they have simply always
been Clear. When a natural Clear is found, it should be so stated.
To assign this condition to some other practice is a suppression of
Dianetics and Scientology.

Anyone evaluating for or feeding a preclear data to persuade him to
declare Dianetic Clear is also actionable.

Anyone suppressively validating squirrel practices or groups by
stating they are producing Dianetic Clears is also actionable as
above, as it is not possible. It requires the exact application of
Scientology and Dianetics technology to bring a preclear up to the
state of Clear, whether on NED after Grades or on the Clearing
Course.

Falsely declaring a person Clear who isn’t and failing to declare
one who made it on Dianetics or the Clearing Course or who has
always been Clear are also actionable.

In the event of a false attest, the C/S, Director of Validity and
any other org staff involved in the cycle are subject to a
Committee of Evidence and, if found guilty, are subject to
suspension of all certs. (Ref: HCO PL 7 Mar. 65 II, CERTIFICATE
CANCELLATION)

People don’t go Clear in garbage eating or psychiatry – they
perish. Thus, herding people into their hands by falsely validating
them is suppressive.

Any and all such false declares are cancelled.

L. RON HUBBARD
Founder

End of email.

It occurred to me that, according to this very reference, if anyone should be de-certified and declared suppressive it ought to be Miscavige; dozens, if not hundreds, of times over. First, there is the wild pendulum swings, from arbitrary declarations of Clear where not evidenced (e.g. Lisa McPherson, himself, etc), to the other end of the spectrum, the hundreds of Clears he has de-Cleared arbitrarily. In fact, it goes beyond even that. The organizations he has created are prohibited from declaring Clears or undeclaring them no matter what the circumstance because they are in violation of these specific provisions of the cited HCOB:

Any org staff declaring a Dianetic Clear “achieved in other practices” is subject to expulsion from the Church.

Anyone suppressively validating squirrel practices or groups by stating they are producing Dianetic Clears is also actionable as above, as it is not possible.

People don’t go Clear in garbage eating or psychiatry – they perish. Thus, herding people into their hands by falsely validating them is suppressive.

Mosey’s immediately composed and sent reply to the above email highlights just how far off the deep end Miscavige has gone:

Thank you for your eval. But I keep telling you church people I am not, nor will I ever be, a member of your so called church. I have no interest whatsoever! Therefore, you do not have any power to cancel anything on me. Am I making myself crystal CLEAR?? Why don’t you go find one of your church members and run your non-clear r factor, because it has no effect here. Unless you guys have completely run out of church members to run it on.

Reverse Scientology: Hypnotism

A lot of people have noted that Miscavige’s events and speeches are taking on more of an hypnotic sounding tone, and yet his sheep don’t seem to notice. There are also many comments here wondering aloud how on earth kool aid drinkers can keep compulsively drinking kool aid in the face of the abuses escalating within the church.   I believe the following may shed a bit of  light on those concerns.

David Miscavige developed a technique that he called “rolling thunder” for his event presentations.  Mike Rinder and others who worked on events over time can describe this far more competently than me since I was not so intimately involved in the event evolutions as they were.  But I know this much, Rolling thunder consisted of a series of “facts” and “stats” of the church – all exaggerated, and some made up out of whole cloth – being forcefully communicated to the audience and accented with overwhelming and building music, lights and graphics being flashed in the recipients’ faces – until the climax of an “applause line” is reached.   “Rolling thunder” is considered achieved if, and only if, the entire crowd is swept to their feet in adoring, accepting, and rapturous AGREEMENT with the “applause line” of the speaker.  Miscavige was obsessed with ensuring his speeches in particular had several “rolling thunder” moments. Over the years, he weeded out the involvement of other speakers in the events until over the past few years there has only been one, David Miscavige.  When you add to the equation that virtually all church of Scientology staff have been forced, coerced and conditioned into immediately and savagely punishing the slightest indication of “doubt” about the infallibility of David Miscavige that manifests itself with any church staff or public, you’ve got a perfect recipe for disaster.  That is, mind controlling hypnotism on a mass scale.

While reading a section of the Phoenix lecture – Axioms, Part III, on the subject of how Scientology can be reversed to effectuate hypnotism – all of the above came back to me.   I believe the following passage sheds light on what Scientology public have been subjected to, increasingly, for the past twenty years in very regular, predictable intervals.

The whole of existence, actually, is run very much like an hypnotic trance.  How do you hyptnotize somebody?  Well, you get them to agree with you.  And then you get them to agree with you a little bit more. Oh, most people think that it’s done by watches or something or other. It’s not done that way. It’s done in a very interesting way.

I don’t know much aboutWestern hypnotism. I myself studied hypnotism in the East and when I came over to America again, I wondered what on earth this strange practice was that these people were practicing and calling hypnotism.  Because it wasn’t even vaguely what is taught in the East to induce trances.  It’s quite remarkable that hypnotism is inducible on small or large groups.

Now, the worse off a group is, which is to say, the less communication they have, actually, the more communication can be forced upon them. And you can get a form of hypnotism there.  But the interesting thing is that they must have been prepared by an enormous number of agreements before they got into that state. In other words, somebody else prepared them, so they didn’t care who they agreed  with after a while.

Anybody in a uniform walks up to a soldier, if that uniform has a higher rank on, the soldier will obey them. Well, this is a form of hypnotism.

Now, you can take an audience and simply get them to agree with you. And you get them to agree more and more and more and more and more and the next thing you know  — and, by the way, when I say ‘agree with you’, I mean you could get them to agree first that you were simply standing there.

And then, the next thing that you could get them to agree to is the fact that they were listening to you. And then you would give them a few little things on which they would agree with.  And the next thing you know, you could tell them that the world was on fire and the audience would rush out to find out.  Or maybe they just sit there and burn. It’s quite interesting. But you could move it out that way.

Now, what is this all about?  Does that mean that anybody bringing about an agreement would bring about hypnotism?  Oh no. The reason why in Scientology we do not bring about a hypnotism, even by Opening Procedure by Duplication – every Case V, that’s had this run on him claims, it’s a way to induce a trance – but every single one of the tenets of Scientology could be reversed and with a bad intention, and so forth, could be worked out in the opposite direction.

We are undoing the agreements which people have been making for 76 trillion years. Only we’re undoing them, so this makes them freer and freer and freer.

Now, show you this fellow on the stage who simply gets the audience to agree and agree and agree and agree and then tells them the place is on fire. Oh?  He isn’t really going in the direction of making them freer, is he?  His intention for this is entirely different.

It isn’t that intention is above agreement. It’s that consideration is always above agreement.  And he is trying to work them into a situation where they will accept what he says without question. We’re not interested in Scientology, in anybody accepting what we say without question. We ask them to question it. We ask them to please look at the physical universe around you, please look at people, at your own mind and understand, thereby, that what we are talking about happens to be actual.  This is the series of agreements. These are. They aren’t just fancy ideas.

Let us also consider the following facts.  First, over the past thirty years the church’s Bridge has altered to consist on average of more than fifty percent security checks. And those security checks are done within an imposed mores that considers the highest crime one can commit is to question the infallibility of David Miscavige.  Second, over those same thirty years church staff have been pressured and coerced into immediately, and ruthelessly, punishing anyone who might manifest the slightest doubt about the veracity of the utterances of Miscavige.  Third, RTC has been programmed to immediately target and destroy the life of anyone who dares report on false reports delivered in events by Miscavige. Those are people who actually observed arrogantly announced Miscavige “facts”  to not in fact exist in the physical universe. Fourth, church policy has evolved that has any member seriously punished for exposing himself or herself to any source of information (by personal contact, by way of media, or the internet) that does not agree with Miscavige’s official state of Scientology utterances.

Is there really any question why once intelligent and caring people are now acting like so many cattle dutifully lining up for slaughter?
