I have read your internet posting of September 9, 2009 to Robin Scott in which you ascribe words and conduct to me you know are false.  You are lying. Not only do you ascribe false words to me, you also ascribe false words to Mike Rinder. This conversation never took place and you know it. The fact that you would knowingly lie about a conversation Bill Walsh and I were both party to only strengthens our conviction that you are lying about all of your other allegations. You need to correct the record and retract this and all your other false statements. You have made it abundantly clear in your recent posting that your allegations are all about you and your position in the anti-Scientology community and having nothing to do with the truth.

Superpower Rip Off

I just read an interesting post on the Leaving Scientology blog, at http://leavingscientology.wordpress.com/

More than $142,760,000 dollars has been raised for the Superpower building. One public recently learned that one reason the Church keeps crush reging for Superpower – even though an official Church spokesperson told the media recently it would cost no more than $90,000,000 grand total in costs to complete – is that Superpower donations have been siphoned off for projects other than Superpower.  The Church spokesman
also said that $40,000,000 has been spent so far on the empty shell.

You ever wonder why the Church has let that $40,000,000 building shell languish for close to ten years? There are at least four reasons.

First, they don’t have a clue what Superpower is. See Joe Howard’s piece for details at http://www.scientology-cult.com/super-power.html

Second, it is one more excuse to crush reg huge sums of money that one of their Reges has already admitted is used for other purposes.

Third, there is no OT IX and X on the horizon. And DM needs some carrot to keep the OT VIII’s on the reservation. He falsely leads them on as if Superpower is some next step on the Bridge for them. Future posts will detail how OT IX and X are not even over the horizon.

Fourth, the elaborate groundbreaking and immediate heavy construction activity to build the shell was not done for purposes of getting Superpower delivered in the first place. I participated in the planning of that 1998 groundbreaking event with Tom Devocht, Mike Rinder and DM. The groundbreaking show – with bleachers brought in and packed with Scientologists, fireworks, and other bells and whistles- was put on within a couple short weeks after the Church was indicted for its involvement in the death of Lisa McPherson. It was ordered by DM at great expense for the sole purpose of diverting the public’s, the media’s and the Tampa Bay area population’s attention off of McPherson.

Once the last civil case connected with McPherson was settled in early 2004, the Church really put the brakes on the building, racking up nearly $250,000 in building department fines for not completing the building in a timely fashion.

But the reg machine never slowed down one iota. Already, it has created a $50,000,000 slush fund of DM funny money.

Consider Thomas Paine – my two cents

I am working on an ethics paradigm right now – while continuing to deliver tech. I’m sort of following my man Malcolm’s lead: “The greatest mistake of the movement has been trying to organize a sleeping people around specific goals. You have to wake the people up first, then you’ll get action.”  When asked by the Village Voice, “Wake them up to their exploitation?”, he clarified, “No, to their humanity, to their own worth, and to their heritage.”  He later added, “We have got to get over the brainwashing we had.”

I am agnostic at the moment as to whether there is even a need to worry about organization or governance in the future. It seems a lot of bright minds think differently.  While I won’t be participating in that debate, I do have two cents to offer to those  engaging.

The First non-plantation-owning President of the United States, John Adams, said: “Without Thomas Paine, there is no American Revolution.”

The President who abolished slavery and united a hopelessly divided nation, Abraham Lincoln, said: “I never tire of reading old Tom Paine.”

If America had not been created, and liberated through the Second revolution of the mid 1800s, would Scientology have ever been discovered?

I think it makes sense for all those engaged in considering concepts of organization or governance to do some study of the real architect of many of the freedoms we enjoy today.

In particular I highly recommend, The Age of Reason, Common Sense, and The Rights of Man – all by Thomas Paine. Here is a Paine quote  to whet your intellectual appetites:

“To understand the nature and quantity of government proper for man, it is necessary to attend to his character. As Nature created him for social life, she fitted him for the station she intended. In all cases she made his natural wants greater than his individual powers. No one man is capable, without the aid of society, of supplying his own wants; and those wants, acting upon every individual, impel the whole of them into society, as naturally as gravitation acts to a centre.

“But she has gone further. She has not only forced man into society by a diversity of wants which the reciprocal aid of each other can supply, but she has implanted in him a system of social affections, which, though not necessary to his existence, are essential to his happiness. There is no period in life when this love for society ceases to act. It begins and ends with our being.

“If we examine with attention into the composition and constitution of man, the diversity of his wants, and the diversity of talents in different men for reciprocally accommodating the wants of each other, his propensity to society, and consequently to preserve the advantages resulting from it, we shall easily discover, that a great part of what is called government is mere imposition.

The instant formal government is abolished, society begins to act: a general association takes place, and common interest produces common security.

In short, man is so naturally a creature of society that it is almost impossible to put him out of it.”

1984: The Severe Reality Adjustment

Miscavige takes a great deal of pride in having created what has become an accepted term of Scientology nomenclature behind the Wall.  It is called the SRA, or Severe Reality Adjustment. An SRA entails getting into a person’s face, screaming a reality at the top of one’s lungs with such force that the recipient goes into overwhelm and accepts the enforced reality. Should the recipient show the slightest disagreement or even puzzlement over the reality being imparted, it is expected that the SRAer use physical force to finish the job. Quite similar to the many lectures wherein LRH describes implant technology.

Miscavige recently promised to “annihilate” the credibility of folks imparting truths about Miscavige’s history that are apparently unpalatable to Miscavige.

The above facts are quite interesting in the light of the following passage from George Orwell’s 1984:

“If the Party could thrust its hand into the past and say of this or that event, it never happened — that, surely, was more terrifying than mere torture and death.

“The Party said that Oceania had never been in alliance with Eurasia. He, Winston Smith, knew that Oceania had been in alliance with Eurasia as short a time as four years ago. But where did that knowledge exist?  Only in his own consciousness, which in any case must soon be annihilated. And if all others accepted the lie which the Party imposed — if all records told the same tale — then the lie passed into history and became truth. ‘Who controls the past,’ ran the Party slogan, ‘controls the future: who controls the present controls the past.’ And yet the past, though of its nature alterable, never had been altered. Some thoughts to reflect upon on Sunday

Reverse (Black) Dianetics – Scientology’s 1984

I detailed how Miscavige practices Reverse Dianetics day in and day out at International Management headquarters; and how Miscavige avoided meeting with me to discuss the ceasing of that practice.

Now, read this quote from Miscavige’s recent 80-page Freedom magazine created to respond to the St Pete Times Truth Rundown series:

“He [Miscavige] personally verified all books and lectures, their contents and their sequence so Scientologists can now study their religion in pure form and chronologically.  This project alone represented thousands of hours of Mr. Miscavige’s time in ensuring every word conformed precisely with Mr. Hubbard’s original works by reading and re-reading each manuscript and final book as well as listening to all 2,500 of Mr. Hubbard’s lectures. ”

Please keep this passage in mind as you continue to read.  Chris Collbran – a  freedom fighting brother –  provided me with some research he conducted, demonstrating a very curious edit performed on a Philadelphia Doctorate Course lecture.

The following text is an accurate reproduction of the transcript issued with DM’s re-release of the Philadelphia Doctorate Course lecture of 6 December 1952 Formative State of Scientology, Definition of Logic. The words in bold face appeared in the cassette tape version of the very same lecture available in every Church of Scientology for many years prior to DM’s new edited release (copyrighted 1982). If you have a set of the newly issued DM-edited PDC on CD, you can listen to it for yourself – the bold faced words below have been deleted. If you have the same previously available PDC lecture on cassette you can listen to it too, and the bold face words, lo and behold, are audible.

“You’ll find almost any preclear can be given Creative Processing. And you could get ahold of him and flip the PDH out. That’s interesting, isn’t it?  In other words, you can take them out as fast they lay them down.

“Therefore, we really do have the remedy before the assault weapon is produced. Did you ever read poor old George Orwell’s 1984? Yes, yes, that’s wonderful. That would be — could be the palest imagined shadow of what a world would be like under the rule of the secret use of Scientology with no remedy in existence.

“It’s a very simple remedy. And that’s just make sure that the remedy is passed along. That’s all. Don’t hoard it and don’t hold it; and if you ever do use any Black Dianetics, use it on the guy who pulled Scientology out of sight and made it so it wasn’t available. Because he’s the boy who would be electing himself “The New Order.” And we don’t need any more new orders. All those orders, as far as I am concerned, have been filled.”

That is correct, all of the words in bold faced type above have been removed from the CD released lecture and accompanying transcript. And yes, all those words appear in the same lecture previously available on cassette tape and they also appear in the tape’s accompanying transcript (copyright 1982).

I leave it to the reader to come to your own conclusion as to why Miscavige might  edit LRH in that fashion.

Ghost in the house

It was an organization that had the power, the spiritual power, to reform the criminal. And this is what you have to understand. I know, because I went into the movement with more negative tendencies than anybody in the movement. And because there is no spiritual ingredient within the organization, there’s no moral discipline. For it now consists of brothers and sisters who were once well meaning, but now who do not have the strength to discipline themselves. So they permit themselves to be used as a machine for a man who, as I say, has gone senile and is using them now to commit murder, acts of maiming and crippling other people.

“I know there’s a brother sitting in here right now, tonight, who was beaten by them a couple of years ago — I’m not going to say. He knows. And if anybody should apologize to him, I should apologize to him. And I do apologize to him. Because he was beaten by the movement when I was in the movement, and I wasn’t too far from him when he got beaten.
“But this is what happens and this is what we have to contend with.  I, for one, disassociate myself from the movement completely. ”

Dear Bert,

I am sorry to interrupt your vacation, but I want to make sure you fully understand a situation you are clearly being lead to misunderstand.

In spite of your protestation to the contrary, it has become quite apparent you and your client are in fact working on a coordinated defense of Miscavige’s conduct. That you spent five of the twelve sentences of your letter extolling Miscavige’s virtues, while saying nothing in defense of your client speaks volumes.

You apparently chose to ignore evidence of Mike Rinder being battered on more than a dozen occasions and instead used Mike’s purported words uttered years ago in defense of Miscavige. I found that rather telling. That you did not bother to ask Mike – a person you have met and worked with on a number of occasions – despite my invitation to do so and my provision of his contact information – is informative of your client’s position. I know that a renowned attorney such as yourself would normally pursue such evidence with due diligence. Only in Miscavige’s world does an intelligent and thoughtful man like Mike become a non-person with the snap of the fingers.

With respect to your own client, by simply repeating the demand set forth in your original letter to me dated August 7 you have shown that you did not understand what I intended to communicate to you or that your client is under the control of Miscavige.

Your August 7 letter expressed the desire that your client’s name not be associated with me. I responded two days later by telling you that in order to prevent the continuing perpetration of severe and widespread violations of criminal laws and fundamental human rights – and to correct publicly spread blatant lies by Miscavige – it was necessary to communicate that relationship in order to accomplish my humanitarian objective. I provided evidence up through the year I left the Church with links to the accounts of fourteen other people who witnessed the same conduct at issue.

Bert, I only decided to make my knowledge public after reviewing a plethora of evidence – contrary to Miscavige’s PR line that I had perpetrated all of the violent and felonious behavior of his – that after I left, Miscavige’s compound made a sharp turn south towards Jonestown. Several former Miscavige insiders have left since I did. Most, if not all of them, have visited me to help recover from the emotional – and sometimes physical scars – that Miscavige inflicted upon them.

I have hard evidence that Miscavige’s response to my having left was to have the doors to the Hole (ref: St Petersburg Times series) barred and welded shut. He created a literal prison where the majority of the international managers of the Church of Scientology remained locked up for months, and in some cases, even years.

The incidents recounted in the St Petersburg Times Truth Rundown series are like a walk in the park compared to what came later. The Hole became a torture chamber. Literally.

I’ll share one incident I have documented that I believe is apropos to your misguided letter.

A couple years ago Miscavige strode into the Hole to make an announcement to the eighty to one hundred Scientology managers then incarcerated. Miscavige berated them for being far too light in their demands for confessions from three of his favorite targets for degradation, humiliation and beatings. They were Marc Yager who was once the highest ranking official in the Church of Scientology International, Guillaume Leserve the Executive Director International and Ray Mithoff the highest technical executive in all of Scientology. Miscavige informed the gathering that Tom Cruise would be coming to the Int base (the 500 acre compound near Hemet) the next day. This, of course, was taken seriously since the several hundred base staff members were busy that day on the Tom Cruise arrival preparation drill (which includes, incidentally, putting all staff through drills orchestrating every action they perform in front of, or speak in the presence of, Cruise).

Miscavige informed all of the members of International management that he had been telling Cruise all about how suppressive Yager, Leserve, and Mithoff had been to Miscavige personally. He told the executives that he had told Cruise how all other members of management were suppressive to Miscavige too because they refused to beat Yager, Leserve and Mithoff to pulps in defense of Miscavige’s honor. Miscavige said that Tom, as his best friend and most trusted confidante, had vowed to come to the Hole and personally “beat the living shit” out of Yager, Leserve, and Mithoff if the managers failed to do so themselves. Miscavige said that if they didn’t show evidence that they had acted, they all would be bypassed the next day by Cruise. The tantrum was accompanied by the usual ill-tempered and sadistic threats to the executives detailing what would become of them if Tom had to do “their job.”

In response, the mob rushed at the three targeted gentlemen. Fists flew and feet kicked into the three. They continued to pound until Miscavige’s deputy on site determined they had created sufficient evidence. That evidence? Fat lips, bloody noses, black eyes (and the deputy would not let the mob relent until each had two black eyes) and contusions over the faces and bodies of Yager, Leserve, and Mithoff.

Bert, if your client still wants to continue having his name uttered by David Miscavige to perpetrate these types of barbarities and at the same time enjoin me from simply stating a fact that I performed a religious service for him at Miscavige’s direction so that I might continue to lend a credible voice to end these atrocities, then save your firm’s letterhead and send me no more letters.

Instead, go ahead and sue me. I would be happy to see this all aired in court. But, I would be even happier to see you investigate this situation and act to help bring these human rights abuses to an end.

Dear Marty:

I am out of the country on a family vacation, but I did want to respond to your letter.

As I think you know, I represent Tom Cruise, not David Miscavige or the Church of Scientology. My letter to you was soley to protect Tom’s rights, not to deal with whatever issues you may have with Mr. Miscavige or the Church.

So far as Tom is concerned, I will repeat what I said before. It is neither appropriate nor lawful for you to refer to yourself online, in the media or elsewhere as Tom’s auditor. I would like to avoid taking action over this, so please stop.

I am not going to respond to your accusations about David Miscavige. Personally, I have never seen him even hint of the behavior you attribute to him. Our conversations have always been civil and respectful. He does appear to be a strong champion of the Church and its values. But that is not only his job, it is his life.

I know from what Mike Rinder has said that Mr. Miscavige, in effect, saved the Church when he cleaned house in the 80’s.

In any event, whatever your issues may be, I hope you can solve them.

Scientific proof II

Understandably, after reading “Scientific proof that Scientology works” a number of folks seem to be of the view that DM’s psychiatric evaluation of me might have merit.  And, thankfully, some are  communicating their thoughts in a civil manner. Some good thoughts too.

If you read all LRH books and listened to most lecture series from 1950 through 1964 (including SHSBC) and you audited many people for many intensives and you walked the  walk (lived what you learned in an ethical fashion) instead of wore a religion you didn’t fully understand as an emblem and defended every word of it even when you had no idea what it was you were defending, the outrageous claim I made about Chrsitakis’ findings wouldn’t sound so whack.

After all, if one really understood and applied the core philosophic principals of Scientology he/she would understand and see that beings emit wavelengths and communications travel on those waves, and that ALL one learned is designed to raise a person on the tone scale so that the waves they emit more closely resemble theta (spirit) , and having experienced  that  one can graduate above waves (which are part of the physical universe) and communicate directly through thought with other beings.  And when you walk that walk – as opposed to just talking the talk – and experience it for yourself you are experiencing something that is immeasurable by science.

So when Christakis “proves” that beings can effect the mood (tone level) of beings at a distance and that there are measurable statistics which indicate beings can effect others at a third degree of separation – a real Scientologists might take it as a validation of what he/she has been experiencing for years and sometimes even decades.

Fact of that matter is someone who has certainty that he has been out of his head – and, admittedly, most (me included) have had far less dramatic or significant  experiences than say an Ingo Swann or Hal Puthoff have claimed – he looks at the world in an entirely different way. Just as Logical Mind implies those who believe they have lived before and will live again are flat earthers, those who have witnessed such for themselves consider one-lifers to be dead in the head flat earthers.

Like it or not – that is the way real Scientologists think.  Because they are willing to think critically and concede that there are policies within Scientology that detract from that way of thinking and living – and quite frankly IMHO if applied make this state of being and understanding unattainable if applied literally (e.g. fair game, disconnect, super aggressive attacks at critics, crush regging etc) – they are able to attain the fruits of the core philosophic principals of the subject (technology) itself.

From a true Scientologist’s perspective it is ridiculous to try to make Scientology prove itself through science, when science does not recognize the soul, spirit or as we like to call it, thetan.  We are looking at the universe from an entirely different perspective and foundation.  It is not something we consider worth argument because 0ne side is arguing about the apples the other sees as oranges.

Scientologists who have practiced for long marvel at how as science evolves it seems to validate Scientology – without ever mentioning it or acknowledging it.  Their view is that ultimately science has to validate Scientology (whether it mentions it or not) because it will not unlock the most fundamental secrets of the universe until itself discovers and acknowledges the spirit.

Some of the more unorthodox, but nonetheless most brilliant, minds of science who help push the scientific envelope to open new vistas sound a lot like Hubbard during his Philadelphia Doctorate Course lectures.  One example is Dr. John Hagelin, quantum physicist, who maintains the physical universe was created by THOUGHT.  His quest for ultimate answers lead him to the Vedic Hymns;  the same source Hubbard acknowledged as his point of departure on developing Scientology. Another physicist is Dr. Andrei Linde of Stanford University who is credited by the scientific community as having all manner of credibility on theories of how the universe was created. Listen to him for a spell and you might start thinking  Hubbard sounds conservative and tame by comparison.

I am not attempting to convert or preach. Instead, I am making an earnest attempt to get folks to understand the mind of a sincere and conscientious Scientologist.  I am finding out there are more of them than most people would suspect. I have received an enormous amount of communication from “on-line” public who are like minded and who are grappling with the moral dilemma of how to take a stand – without losing their families, friends and jobs.

To illustrate how far the Church has reversed itself from its philosophical roots, realize Miscavige’s first impulse when he reads this post will likely be to strut around the office ranting to his inner circle, “look, this nut case is theetie-wheetie.”   Miscavige disdains any hint of someone experiencing “OT phenomena” like telepathic communications (which real Scientologists will tell you they experience on almost a daily basis, provided they are living their lives ethically), third degree of separation influences, even extended exteriorizations.  Any talk of such is mowed down ruthlessly by DM much like the hard core anti-Scientologists. DM has redefined OT as a gang of thugs in SO uniforms cornering some well-heeled Scientologist, intimidating him into believing Miscavige’s cathedrals prove he is greater than Hubbard, and coercing the guy to take a second mortgage on his home to contribute to the cause.

Real Scientologists reject that brand of “Scientology”, which I call “Miscavology.”  Because they have organized their lives around the Church structure , Scientology schools, and long-time business ventures with other Church members, their disconnection from the the Reverse Scientology Church is very difficult and sensitive and takes thought and time. To the degree they are bombarded with attacks on their most intimate spiritual experiences and understandings, they are further driven back to the monster that suppresses them. And that is how Miscavige thrives and continues the protection racket.

Let’s switch to history for a moment. Many writers have made a very convincing case that most wars, and thus most human caused death, have been been waged in the name of religion – most notably Christianity and Islam.  The Bible and the Koran could be argued to be the cause of a great deal of human suffering throughout history. Do we ban those books, do we burn them? Do we prohibit the practices of those religions and attack and belittle the “brainwashed” who practice them?  I reckon that such an approach would wind you up with nothing more than more terrorism and more wars.  Personally, I have met a number of very fine folks since I have left Scientology who consider themselves devoted to Christianity and Islam.  They are peaceful and considerate and ethical people . They are non-violent and if you accused them of being otherwise because of their total conviction in the truths they find within the Bible or the Koran, they’d look at you like you were nuts. If you kept subjecting them to such criticism they would eventually decide not to communicate with you and to not accept communication from you.
