Perversion of the Arts

A society which in any way inhibits, suppresses or regiments its artists is a society not only low on the Tone Scale, but most certainly doomed.  A totalitarian state, following its usual line of perversion of truth, talks endlessly about its subsidization of the artist, but it subsidizes only those artists who are willing to work for the state exactly as the state dictates.  It regiments the artist and prescribes what he will do and what he will write and what he will think.  This is in direct controversion to the function of the artist in society.

– L. Ron Hubbard, Science of Survival

Beware, apparently in a last-ditch power drive, death merchant David Miscavige is making a desperate foray into music and film.

After single handedly crippling the beingnesses and careers of such erstwhile giants as Tom Cruise and John Travolta, Miscavige is seeking to pimp out the entire Scientology creative pool in a vain effort to make Scientology hip.

Here is the latest use to which he has put the “church’s” most sacred, “religious” retreat:

He wants his “celebs” to “blow away”, “inspire”, and “empower” as many bots as he can to populate Hollywood, I suppose, to re-grip a power base that has for years been fading fast.

To understand just how Miscavige will use any such increase in the ranks to accelerate the decline of the image of Scientology through the arts, please see the latest from Tony Ortega at Village Voice, Scientology Chillin’ With Hip Hop; A Video That Cannot Be Unseen.

I have never seen the genre so shamelessly whored out.   Not by the most brazen bling worshiping, gangster revering, drug promoting, mysogenist bad boys who nearly destroyed urban roots music and poetry.  As bad as their influence was, there is a big distinction between them and Miscavige.  The former, for the most part, were just trying to make enough cheddar to get out of the projects.  Miscavige wants ALL the dough and wants to drive everybody into the projects in order to get it.  Unfortunately for his empire, and fortunately for society at large, Miscavige’s enforced “art” is so repulsive it is probably the greatest guarantee he will never achieve his sordid aims.

  1. This is just sickening. RCS is a black hole for all aesthetics, theta and light. Hopefully we can stop it from sucking the entire philosophy of Scientology in with it.

  2. The “includes” section forgot to list nightly regging events and daily 4 hour 3 on 1 reg sessions.

  3. I am probably “the only Patron of the IAS who hasn’t even done Grade Zero.”

After seeing the “hip hop” video, I KNOW that I was 100% defrauded by IAS regges. The IAS can’t even put together a decent video let alone “clear the planet!”

I think how that money could have actually helped people if I had donated it to a legitimate organization! Boy do I feel stupid!

Thanks to all of you who keep the torch of truth lit for all to see!

This can only help more people wake up from zombie land – AKA = the Church of Scientology. God help us!

  4. I wonder of the Squirrel Busters are going to give a workshop.

  5. top of the vale

And don’t forget the regular meter checks to sort out who is for or agin DM. Those who are agin will be ‘keel hauled’ if Napier has anything to say about it.

  6. I guess DM did not learn from the CD he put out around 2001 that was supposed to make Scn hip. I have gone blank on the name of it even it was so bad. I am embarrassed for so many people right now but not for DM. Oh my God, this is bad. And sad.

  7. top of the vale

I find it sickening that a literary composer like your self, Marty, who had the trust of the dwarf at the top would be treated as you are. You went to bat fo de Man and now de man kicks you to the curb every chance he gets.
You have an amazing way with words on every piece you produce and I’ll bet you and Mike get attacked out of pure jealousy.

  8. Note that there is no specific claim of any individual who will be there. Nor is there a list of lectures to be held. Any reputable conference (or even one of those stupid “Wealth Expos” that features Donald Trump, Anthony Robbins and endless other self-help book authors) will heavily advertise the headline speakers and will give you a list of the courses offered — that’s the most effective marketing tool around to get people in the door.

This advertisement has nothing like that. If Travolta or TC are gonna be there, you can bet they would pimp that fact as the coup of the century (which it would indeed be). So there will probably be a few assistant gaffers, some camera loaders who haven’t worked in a while, and maybe an electrician or two thrown in for good measure. And the “rising young talent from all over the world” will be the other suckers just like you who were conned into this fiasco. You might even get to meet “Chill EB,” the guy who did the music on that video Tony Ortega’s post talked about.

I am sure your readers would be quite amused if, after the cruise, you were able to get from your sources a list of the people presenting and what they talked about (at least, the stuff regarding the arts, not the endless regging “lectures”) so afterwards we can compare the hype of the advertisement to the reality .

Lastly, it would be interesting if somebody with knowledge of current Freewinds pricing can compare the cost of this event versus the cost of accommodations for 9 days for a regular cruise. I found one price list (date unknown) that said a double bed stateroom on the Promenade Deck was $3,150 per person for seven nights and $450 per night thereafter. So if this gala event is $1995 (after today) then the value of the “Film Week Convention Fee” is a whopping negative $1,255! (I am assuming that they’re actually quoting you $1995 based on upper twin bunk bed in a quad stateroom right next to the engine room; if you want a decent room, it’ll cost you a lot more.)

Incidentally, for comparison purposes, the cost per night of a balcony stateroom on Regent Seven Seas Cruises, the world’s top-rated luxury cruise line, which includes dining at authentic “Le Cordon Bleu” restaurants, topnotch steak houses, unlimited free booze, free shore excursions and round-trip airfare, typically runs only a few dollars more than a night on the Freewinds in a porthole suite in an almost 50-year-old ship with cafeteria-style dining (Chicken McNuggets, anyone?). And a polite “no, thank you” will end the regging to sign up for the next cruise at RSSC.

    John P.

PS: Let’s not even point out the obvious standard DM “stat avalanche” at the top of the ad, with all those impressive stats that can’t be traced back to see if they’re true or not.

  9. +1 Thanks for the chuckle.

  10. Are those stats from the “Titanic” film? If so, eerily appropriate.
Not to read even more into it, but there are 12 names listed on this poster. Is this the Pope’s A list? No Cruise or Travolta, just a few B and C list “celebs”, in supporting roles as enablers of “Miscavige the Insane”.
Perhaps Stacy Francis was to be the “proof of the koolaid” for the event, but she just tanked off of X-Factor. Gotta wonder if “Battlefield Earth” the movie, will be used for examples of “angles and lighting”, and the TC interview for “powerful performances”. Or maybe the whole thing is just a come on to get some new blood into “Golden Era”…..

I’d love to get a film crew in there just to document this. Bound to be some Academy Award performances for best sychophant in a supporting role…..

  11. I noticed that in small print, part of the package these guys are paying for is “1 basics book and lecture course”. I guess that’s a kill two birds with one stone way of getting the stats up. Just what does a basics book and lecture course have to do with film making? What you’re not told is if you aren’t done with your mandatory course before the seminar is over, you have to pay extra to stay on and finish it. I was there several days after OT8 finishing up the other required course.

  12. Grendel's Mother

In addition to Gold and Mad Hatter, POB just bought the old KCET studios in Hollywood and he needs to staff it! This is a regging and recruitment event, pure and simple. I pity anyone who thinks they’re going to learn filmmaking from these bozos.

  13. top of the vale,

They’ll probably be sold in blocks of 2 intensives at Class XII rates. Poor suckers.

  14. Gag me with a Mercedes…

  15. After seeing this video on the IAS we are stopping all and any contribution to the RCS. For 2 1/2 years we had stop almost all donations but today was the final moment, That video ended the final dime to any and all ” worthy humanitarian causes.” (valid or not).

Pure. Kind. Compassionate. We are the Independent Scientologists.

  16. Oh, come on, folks. The only thing really wrong with the video was all the middle-aged white people that kept popping up. The song was not that great and the chorus seemed very, very similar to to another song. Again, glitzy, but on closer look, not much in the way of content, which is typical of David Miscavige’s promotional leanings. However, embarrassing? Sickening? Not really.

I personally don’t like hip-hop – the music is too repetitive and you can really sing along with it. The lyrics are too fast for me to follow so it is just a blur of sound. Obviously, I’m not the target audience for this clip.

  17. Well, if that hip hop video is the standard of “art” that these artists are meant to be inspired to, we shouldn’t worry too much. Ewwww! It’s a poor and cheap imitation. I see a lot of film productions being nominated for Raspberries!

    P. S. An MB with an IAS license plate. How’s that for a subliminal message” We rip you pff succka!”

  18. Bizarre. I wonder what proportion of Scn public are film makers. 2%? 1? Or probably more like 0.1% So given that there is, generously, about 40,000 public Scientologists worldwide, he has a potential client base of maybe 400 absolute tops. Of those, how many would think “Oh, goody, a chance to spend $2000 to miss New Years with my family and toady around with some B-listers offering some film-making tips on a claustrophobic ship, whilst getting mercilessly harassed by IAS gestapo”.

    Where do I sign?

More to the point – what the effing eff has any of this got to do with getting anybody up the Bridge??? Just bizarre. The IAS rap video is jaw-dropping too. Again, who is the audience for this stuff? I just don’t get it.

  19. Probably on how to do “slapstick” comedy and classics like “Filming in the rain” and “Casablanca” without Bogart.

  20. What no Academy Award winners? Oh wait that’s right, Paul Haggis left.

  21. Very interesting “bright” idea from the POB, sort of getting together 2 MVs in one year! It might perhaps solve some of his problems:
    1. How to keep Freewinds occupancy up to keep it afloat and pay for fuel.
    2. Getting those who might still be high rollers in one inescapable place for IAS regfests for the duration of the cruise, and staging another “Patron’s ball”.
    3. Perhaps have the NY event in a much smaller venue of the Starlight Cabaret as it would be Mission Impossible to fill up the Shrine by hiring that amount of “extras”.
    4. More time off on excursions & wining, dining in a safe place – offshore and away from all those SPs in the Hole.
    5. Regain total control of all the CC Int top bots and inoculate, to make sure they haven’t caught the Indie virus.

  22. martyrathbun09

Comment of the day material right there, girl.

  23. Even if I were still a corporate Rah-Rah Scientologist, I have no Idea what Filmaking Workshops have anything to do with it’s core Philosophy. Earlier in the Year they were giving away Free Haircuts, then other off-beat Fundraisers that have nothing to with Scientology whatsoever. But the Ad carries the Sea Org Symbol and incl. a Basics Books and Lectures Course.

Why not Shoe Repair and Hard TRs?

  24. Yvonne,
Isn’t that just part of “the full Freewinds Experience!” ?

  25. Marty, its almost too much information. Its hard to comment on the Freewinds becomming a Talent/Job placement agency or those kids, OUR KIDS, being used in a ridiculous video attempt to make the IAS “cool” It all sucks.
And it sucks the most because, as I said, they are “our kids”, they want to make the world better, but they are being misled and misused. The church as we knew it is GONE. This is a disgrace. If we didnt care we could laugh. But we do care and this shit needs to end.

  26. +10000000000 Tara I thought the same thing this is sooooooo disgusting. At first I thought the filming was done in a car showroom when I saw the Mercedes come out.

  27. Martin, these guys a extremely “Hard Up”!

  28. My understanding is that Mark Bunker will be there to properly hat Allender and his keystone cops crew on how to present a professional documentary.

Head cams just don’t cut it in the real world.

  29. I see the video currently has 1 like, 47 dislikes and over a thousand views. The way YT works re vid stats is that all likes, dislikes and comments are A=A=A an count as a plus for the video. So, if you don’t like a video on YT don’t like, dislike or comment.

Gad, a Squirrel Buster Convention on the Freewinds with Rocky and Bulwinkle as hosts and the three stooges as back up!

  32. Hmmm….I video’d my dog playing in the lake when we went camping last year and loaded it up on YouTube. Maybe I should go to this convention over the holidays, instead of spending the normally wonderful time with my family and friends, and get a few pointers about how to get my dog to give more of a “power performance.”

  33. I kinda missed the message in that video, but then again I miss the message of most hip hop.

DM, once again is the master-evaluator-bator. So instead of reviewing earlier evals and seeing if they are depressing stats (Can’t do that because “the heart of review is humility”), he decides that C of S needs to drive more celebs down on the lines (more deep pockets). My guess is that he is going to make one more year of big bucks and then hit the road with a sizeable chunk, go live in Argentina and wait for the cleaners to come.

    ML Tom

  34. Martin, thanks for a very funny post!

I got to thinking and did two minutes of Google searches. The MPAA reported in 2006 that about 200,000 people worked in movie and TV production in the US (a bit below 0.1% of the population of 300 million). So that was a great guess on your part! It’s notable that the number is so small compared to what LRH said was the number of SP’s in the population (I think he said it was about 2%).

I mention these two facts together because the “frustrated accountant” numbers wonk that I am in my heart of hearts does a quick moment of maths and comes up with the conclusion that the Church of Scientology could find a bigger market (20+ times the size) trying to “sell” to SP’s than it could trying to sell to celebrities.

Of course, I’m being extremely tongue in cheek here, since the readers of this site who proudly wear their SP declaration as a badge of honor are unlikely to sign up. And the 6 million “wog” SP’s that Hubbard predicts for the US as a whole don’t seem too likely to develop a sudden interest in endless regging campaigns either. But if DM and Company were to think in their usual shallow way about Really Big Unprecedented Opportunity Numbers that would then turn into Really Big Unprecedented Expansion Numbers at a future event, and then go pelting off on a new “Golden Age of SP’s” campaign, it could certainly hasten the demise of the Corporate Scientology empire with even more wasted effort. Just a thought.

  35. Evidently the dwarf is trying to appeal to people in their early 20’s. Good luck with that.

I only made it through 2:22 of the video and had to click off. Aesthetically it’s not appealing AT ALL. There’s nothing cool about it and in no way will it appeal to today’s youth other than for a good laugh. A revolting song with untalented, un-hip looking dancers. Funny how the lead singer (I know, that’s a stretch) looks puny and short, just like………DM. Maybe he did the casting in his likeness.

note to OSA: Are you getting it yet? Are you starting to wonder….. just a teeny little bit?

  36. The Freewinds is an IAS implant station. Any ideas for a new name for the ship?

  37. There’s nothing cool about it and in no way will it appeal to today’s youth other than for a good laugh. A revolting song with untalented, un-hip looking dancers.

It’s downright Embarrassment and degrade of Scientology, but then what else is the IAS notable for other than degrading the Church’s Parishioners financially?

  38. I JUST noticed that there are some “names” being promoted — if you look at the poster in shadow fade block lettering I’m seeing these names, “Isham, Campbell..can’t even read the next 4 or so….Soreff, Jastrow, Lexton, Doven, Archer, Nichols.” So I guess these are the “BIG” celebrities being promoted? LOL.

Really Michael Doven, errand boy for TC and DM is going to educate you about film? The only “known” name on there might be Archer – but since they aren’t clarifying it’s “Anne’ I’m going to bet its not and that its another Archer family member but they want people to assume it’s their well known actress-bot. (To be fair Anne was only famous 20 years ago, she’s pretty washed up now and the only thing I’ve seen her do for the past 10 years is pimp for the cult, so it could be her. No one under 40 would know who she is any way.)

What you will never see, even in faintly hidden lettering, is any citations for all these stats they are trumpeting. I don’t think you can count someone as having a “academy award” just because they were an assistant to caterer or gaffer on some film that won an award for best sound effects – but I bet that’s how the cult is trying to claim these “stats” – if the connection is even that direct.

  39. Li'll bit of stuff

    Brett,

First off, thank you very much for sharing your obvious pain
at being ‘duped’ by this heinous vampire cult, which paints and masquerades itself as “THE ONLY HOPE MAN HAS”. If its ANY consolation to you at all,you are amongst a huge number of decent, hard working, sincere persons all over the world who have been similarly betrayed and thank God
have finally, found the only thing that really matters;”TRUTH”.
As for the sick, certifiably INSANE little dwarf MAD CABBAGE
he WILL have to face the ‘tsunami’ of CRIMINAL charges
heading his way. Meantime Brett, enjoy the sunshine in the
company of REAL SCIENTOLOGISTS, man and drink down
the cool, soothing, brew of distilled TRUTH available right here on Marty’s “POWEREHOUSE” blog. Yeah man!!!

Thanks again for sharing. Luv & ARC Li’ll bit

  40. OMG, ROFLMAO …… priceless!!!! Thank you for the hold your sides, wipe away the tears, hope your jaw stops aching soon from all the laughing.

  41. The IAS video, is one of the most amateurish productions I have ever seen. I worked in Hollywood for some of the top TV commerical/music video production companies ~ this video looks like a home movie. It is really BAD! Bad to the point of being laughable. Boring to boot. Oh, BTW on the Mercedes, the message is you have to drive a Mercedes to afford to be an IAS patron. What a joke.

  42. Is Paul Haggis going to be there? Did his awards and box count in the stats?

How about Jason and Nicole? Stephen Boyd?

Were these stats generated from…? Tiny Turd’s imagination?

Remember Tiny’s happy hit: Tiptoe through the goose shit, through the goose shit, that is raining down. Yes, tiptoe through the goose shit with me.

  43. Li'll bit of stuff

Dear host, just one question about the MAD CABBAGE and it’s ENMEST PROGRAM CIRCUITRY ; Apart from R – 245
is there any OTHER ” permanent ” fix in the LRH manual ?

  44. Pat,

Young people. Right. To add names to the White House petition, I offered my daughter’s college-age boyfriend $2 a signature. He’s desperate for money. The embarrassment and anathema of just saying the word “Scienotology” was too great to overcome; he just couldn’t do it.

  45. The biggest outpoint in the IAS hip-hop video and the Film Week on the ship is that they exist at all. When Scientology was booming in the 70’s we had zero marketing of this sort. There was no effort to appeal to “the masses” or “the upstats” or “the young,” etc. Scientology spread mainly by word of mouth among spiritually aware seekers.

The “glue” that kept them in was not the human lifestyle that participation in Scientology offered, but the fact that on the Comm Course (TRs 0-4 Re-modernized, not STCC) people got blown out of their cases and often right out of their heads as well. Combine that with basic concepts from reading the first few chapters of DMSMH, and you had a Scientologist. Then giving and receiving auditing wins on the HQS Course confirmed and expanded on that, and they were in for the duration.

The whole effort to “broaden the Bridge” by appealing to average mest-being humans with watered-down services was doomed from the beginning. It also destroyed the Church, by filling up the Sea Org with people who had no capacity to understand what Scientology is really all about. It killed our Affluence stats because it was NOT “what worked before” and WAS “new things untried.”

DM was one of the mest beings swept into the Sea Org and up into Management by this wrong-headed strategy, and ended up protecting himself from spiritual-level, tech-oriented Scientologists by driving them out or kicking them out. Then he wrecked the tech to prevent anyone from rising above him.

This same trend has occured in and ruined every religion in history. When the base is broadened to include average people too early, they take over and pull down what the original true spiritual seekers built, and turn the religion into a travesty control mechanism. The only instances of spiritual technology surviving in any religion in history has been when small groups within a religion have kept tech people in charge and mest being admin types either out altogether or on the fringes occupied with superficial rituals so they couldn’t interfere with the true seekers who found their way in, too.

This isn’t to say that a successful religion wouldn’t eventually help everyone regardless of their initial awareness level. But the way mest beings defeat free thetans is through overwhelming numbers. When free thetans set out to help mest beings they have to keep the balance of power in favor of the free thetans, and that means avoiding an influx of too many mest beings too early.

An analogy to this would be from high school chemistry. Remember the instructions to always pour acid into water, and never water into acid? That was because when acid and water interact, a lot of heat is produced. Water absorbs heat much better than acid does. So if you pour acid into water, the resulting heat is dissipated in the water. But if you pour water into acid, the heat boils the water and spatters the acid all over you and your lab partner. So it is with mest beings (acid) and free thetans (water).

None of DM’s mest-oriented marketing has ever worked or ever will work, and to whatever small degree it may
have worked on some people, that’s been more destructive to real Scientology than it’s been helpful.

In re-organizing Scientology for effective expansion in the Independent field we must completely avoid this kind of marketing. We must appeal to genuine spiritual seekers. We must keep Tech above and in charge of Admin. Then if we just deliver Standard Tech and emphasize training and co-auditing, we’ll grow almost automatically.

DM’s expensive glitzy promo just advertises his own low awareness level and marketing incompetence. It keeps true spiritual seekers away, which is probably part of his intention.

  46. The Raging Queen
“Come sail with us through a tsunami of stupidity.”

  47. Another quote from SOS:

“….for, Dianetics is not just processing. That’s not a thousandth of it”

I realize that somehow, “Dianetics” has somehow become redefined narrowly as that subject dealing with engrams. But, the thrust and purpose that drove Dianetics is exactly the same as what drove Scientology: to understand and improve thought so that individuals and societies could become sane and act rationally toward maximum survival across the dynamics.

When you think of it, “art” is what gives life quality. Art is that part of ARC that forms our realities into aesthetic expression, not just in paintings and songs, but how we live in general. Just sitting on a cliff looking at the ocean and enjoying the beauty of the day is an expression and experience of art across multiple dynamics. Talking to someone in a restaurant. Creating a blog. Commenting. All a quality expressed in ARC. ART.

It’s no small thing to undermine the aesthetics of theta. The aesthetics of theta is as crucial to theta as breathing to a human. It’s like undermining a being’s integrity or sense of ethics.

This is not insignificant. Theta has become inured to being debased. Another lash across a slave’s back–accepted and endured.

  48. Oh yeah, I think it was the “Joy of Creating” album with Doug E Fresh…. not very successful. I forgot about it too…..

  49. OH MY LORD! That is the corniest video I’ve ever seen the C of $ put out!
I couldn’t watch it all the way through.

  50. David

How about “The Titanic of Scientology”.
It is racing “all ahead full” to an “iceberg” with its name on it.
Lets all hope that it does not go down “with all hands”.

    Eric S

  51. The Church of Scientology is like Lady Gaga, they both make beautifully produced garbage.

  52. FCDC Class of 1974

I’m sorry but I must weigh in, there was one good thing about the video, I didn’t see DM in it. Also they don’t do hard TR’s anymore it creates resistance to regges. Anchors away.

  53. Spinwinds

  54. Is “The Joy of Creating” the CD you’re thinking of?
The fact that basically all the footage in that RAP video is a fundraising event for IAS held at AOSH DK, is also cringe-worthy.
Can anyone identify the players in the video?

  55. People in their 20ties are inspired by the internet driven protest like the early days Anonymous protests.

The occupy protests are a spinn off of that in the way they are organized sense and how they try to win back ground on the constitutional rights.

  56. “Boy do I feel stupid!”
Boy do I know THAT feeling!
Boy that video was painful to watch!

  57. I didn’t study Scientology to become a filmmaker.

“The Freewinds is a very special place. It is the one place on this planet that a Scientologist can go and be certain that he will be able to devote all of his attention to his religious practice and, at the same time, share the company of people who share his religious commitment and outlook on life in general. A voyage on the Freewinds is nowhere close to a vacation. Rather, it is the perfect religious retreat dedicated to enabling one to devote his full attention to spiritual growth.”

    Yeah right

  58. As with a Freewinds songwriters convention a few years ago, the idea simply is………..

    bodies……..in……..the………shop………

Get the marks on board, take away their passports, get the reges all primed and well fed, clean the torture rooms (excuse me, reg offices) and start collecting the cash – note to reges: there will be hourly phone calls from Miscavige’s “soldiers” taking stock of how much was “earned” in the last hour (apologizes for all the mafia lingo, it’s just fun to use it). Note that the price quoted does include a course, but folks….ah, yes…..the course materials…..the materials……..another $1,000? Why, you’d be getting off cheap at at that price. It’s all about the moolah, baby, the moolah.

  59. The video is going viral. Just saw it on the Huffington Post.

  60. They already did–to the IAS AOSH EU

  61. Tony Dephillips

Oh, by the way, the corporate Scientology lady who sang at Tom Cruises birthday party on the Freewinds was booted off the Factor singing show last night.
    Another bot bites the dust.

  62. this one made me laugh out loud
    too funny, too true

  63. martyrathbun09

Good point. And resistance to a hell of a lot of other Reverse Scientology practices.

  64. martyrathbun09

    Well put my man.

  65. Some Hip-Hop goes straight to the point:

    😉

DM is nowadays addressing the NOI parishoners and plugs them onto his IAS machinery.
This won’t take too long for them to realize that he is cutting their comm line to the eight dynamic with his “Mammon” agenda.

  66. martyrathbun09

This is the burden of my discourse, and I thank you for so competently articlulating it.

  67. Casablanca… I can see where DM (as Inspector Renault) says, “I am shocked! Shocked to find any crush regging going on here!” just as some Sea Org flunky hands him a pile of money from the latest victims.

  68. Well, “We are the IAS” means “We take money.” Somebody else does the actual work, whomsoever they may be.

Dwindling public, staff and celebs. False stats. Flaps left and right. Terrible PR and no credibility anywhere.

Learn filmmaking with no headliners? Maybe it’s ‘Learn from the best – David Miscavige in person!’

I agree with you, Tom. There’s one year left.

    Rich

  69. SS Flatulence?

  70. Priceless indeed Erwin!

  71. Sorry for the interruption. Just received this email from the White House:

Why We Can’t Comment on this Petition about the Church of Scientology

Thank you for signing the petition “EXAMINE THE GOVERNMENT’S FAILURE TO INVESTIGATE AND PROSECUTE CHURCH OF SCIENTOLOGY CRIME, FRAUD AND ABUSE.” We appreciate your participation in the We the People platform on WhiteHouse.gov.

The We the People Terms of Participation explain that “the White House may decline to address certain procurement, law enforcement, adjudicatory, or similar matters properly within the jurisdiction of federal departments or agencies, federal courts, or state and local government.” The Department of Justice is charged with investigating federal crimes and enforcing federal criminal laws. Accordingly, the White House declines to comment on the specific law enforcement matter raised in this petition.

  72. How about “Spitting into the Winds?”

  73. Brett–I hear that phrase frequently, “Boy do I feel stupid!” And the video was so painful I couldn’t finish it. Did I miss anything?

  74. Gabriel, priceless! And everyone can buy their own headcamera with the Freewinds Insignia imprinted on it for only $2000 over cost.

  75. Breaking News!

  76. And here’s the reason for the statement of how much it costs per night after the week is up: when you go on board they force you to sign up for an OT hatting course. Then you have no time to enjoy the cruise, you are forced to be in the courseroom all spare hours–unless of course the reges want to commandeer you. No enjoying the beautiful blue waters of the Caribbean or the colorful towns on the shore. But get this!–you will NEVER finish that course in time to get off the ship when the week is up. You will be coerced into changing your plane reservations and staying longer just to finish the course! IT’S CALLED BAIT AND SWITCH, FOLKS!

  77. Kassapa,

Thank you for this brilliant and enlightening discourse. I’m still digesting this distilled wisdom.

    Thanks!

  78. Snort! Wheeze!

  79. Just received an e-mail from the White House about the Scientology petition explaining why they are politicians rather than leaders.

  80. Oh, forgot the quote, “Gotta wonder if “Battlefield Earth” the movie, will be used for examples” that caused me to snort!

  81. Hi Laura Ann, I commented on the extra stay above before I saw this post. You are too right.

  82. martyrathbun09

    Sue,
Do you mind if I hold this till tomorrow morning so that I can do a post on this? I don’t want to leave people in a mystery/anarchy/anxiety situation. I want to address this rationally, give it context, and give people some positive direction. Let me know.
    Marty

  83. Wow, GM, had not thought about that one. Our real estate agent in LA knew of the place and wondered why in the world Sci had bought it–just another strange thing to the non-Scios in LA.

  84. martyrathbun09

Ok, I just wrote to Sue about this – wanting to hold the news till I could post in the morning about this matter. But if it is going far and wide go ahead and post it and I’ll weigh in with a post.

  85. Yeah, I wondered if the Mercedes was for positioning Scios with getting rich with the tech, or to show what they stole from the last guy they regged.

  86. martyrathbun09

Ok, I’ll post late tonight or in the a.m. about this travesty.

  87. Didn’t the art series state that communication is senior. One should never try to let asthetics supercede communication. The result is always garbage like this video where both comm and asthetics is lost.

  88. Yes. Remove my post for now. I’ll think about this and comment after your article.

  89. Marty,

I just received this from the White House:

    Will post on this soon.

  91. martyrathbun09

    Sue,
You were first. So many followed I went ahead and posted the comments. I will post on this in the tonight or in the am. Not a surprise.
    Marty

  92. martyrathbun09

As a note I received my response too – identical. My reply:
You have made a grave mistake in an election year. Stay tuned to markrathbun.wordpress.comm to understand why.

  93. martyrathbun09

I will post on this soon. I reply to their email as follows:
You have made a grave error in an election year. Stay tuned to markrathbun.wordpress.com to find out why.

  94. Breakwinds

  95. Interesting I have been on the Regent Seven Sea Voyager twice, incredible ship. And it’s all inclusive.

  96. Barry Soetoro, aka Barrack Hussein Obama, is joined at the hip with another world-class criminal, David Miscavige?

If they think this will be white washed then they are divorced from reality.

    Bring it on.

  97. Indie-saurus-rex

Their response is kind of like a police officer saying to an abused wife “Sorry, we don’t get involved in domestic violence. That’s an issue between a husband and wife”.

For God’s sake. *insert eye roll*

    Unfortunate news.

  98. Beautifully stated.

Just to add a bit of “evidence” to your claim: We had a student this week who has been in the “church” (pronounced cult) for six years. Did the purif, some staff time and a bunch of stupid little courses.

In drilling hard TRs yesterday (for the first time) he gets this big shit eating grin on his face. He says, “I’ve always wondered what Present Time means…now I know!

There is no tech in the cult

  99. And regarding Miscavige’s FILM WEAK cruise, I’ll take this voyage anyday:

    CHICKEN SHITS!

  101. Off the fence.

“but the fact that on the Comm Course (TRs 0-4 Re-modernized, not STCC) people got blown out of their cases and often right out of their heads as well. ”
Man, I’m glad you mentioned that. For years I’ve thought that the STCC sucked. Especially compared to the original comm. course. The original comm course, red on white, kicked ass. Incredibly workable, made you feel important, like you were let in on something that was incredibly special and magical. Made me into a Scientologist almost immediately. I’ve always felt the STCC was weak and patronizing. And wrong! The purity and effectiveness of the original Tr’s course was magic. Why would anyone change that?!

  102. top of the vale

The only thing that one can expect from a 1.1 is to get stabbed in the back. What do you expect from Obama?

  103. Indie-saurus-rex

The thing about this reply, is that while its message is clearly stated, the fact that it seems like a ‘canned’ response, I would say, speaks to how these White House petitions are received, reviewed and subsequently processed.

My guess is that these petitions get nowhere near the executives but instead are reviewed and classified (i.e. accepted/rejected) based upon criteria set forth in a policy/reference guide. A young civil servant (is that what they’re called in the US?), I’m sure, screens these and only lets through the ones they deem meet the requirements of said policy.

If this is the case, I would say that on the surface, they made the correct decision in rejecting the petition because at first glance, this petition doesn’t meet their stated criteria for petition validity. However, what the reviewer would have overlooked is the underlying nature and need for this particular issue to be investigated by the Executive Branch of government due to the inherent conflict(s) of interest at the DOJ and FBI levels.

I work in a somewhat similar position for the Government of Canada and see policy and procedure applied with severe literalness on a daily basis. People who overlook the meaning and intention of a document in favour of does it meet ‘predetermined checklist’.

I’m sure Marty is on this, but there is a chance that an appeal could be served for this petition, if one could find out where these things are actually reviewed and accepted/rejected – and by ‘where’ I literally mean the physical location and the actual employees.

  104. The full Freewinds Experience also included forfeiting one’s passport in good faith. That makes sense. It’s only illegal to do that in the first place anywhere in the world, but it “helps Scientology”. I just wish I could go to one of those events just to say “Oh, F*** off already!”

  105. Trust me Brett, you weren’t the only Scientologist who became a Patron or above and never made it to Grade Zero. This just show’s the IAS’s complete disregard for the Scientologists that they are scamming out of all of their money. Miscavige could give a rat’s ass about someone’s bridge progress.

  106. I can answer a little of this, John. I don’t know how, but I am on the emailing list for all the Freewinds hype emails now, and I did get this one. All those names in the background in large, ghosted capital letters are people who are supposed to be there. It’s hard to read in the duplicate version on this blog, but they are: Isham, Campbell, a couple too blurred out to read, then Collins, Sherman, Soreff, Jastrow, Lexton, Doven, Archer, and Nichols.

In a following email several days later most of these names were listed again in ad copy and their lists of industry accomplishments. It wreaked of “you can be real cool too and hang with all these Hollywood dudes.” It was absolutely pathetic.

Then, waaaaaay down at the bottom of the email it said that you also will get a free basic books and lectures course. “L. Ron Hubbard” is not anywhere in the copy, and “LRH” was in there ONCE, in this sentence: “Film Week will lay these basics out in plain English, as well as give professional tips and tricks — how to get better lighting and angles, how to get powerful performances, how to edit scenes, how to find the right music for your movie, etc. — and key LRH data on film and filmmaking.”

I just want to throw up.

I checked out the IAS hip-hop video and that made me wanna puke too. It TOTALLY missed the mark of what hip-hop is about, and I LOVED the proof of its “effectiveness” on the audience—they sat there stone still, expressionless, afraid to shimmy around just a teeny little bit to the beat. And the editing was the sleepiest, most bland and ineffective way to portray hip-hop that I’ve ever seen. Guess everyone in the edit bay was already up for a week before they got to edit this with you, right, POB?

Too bad we still have these great artists being brought down in stature, talent, ethics and closer to their own personal spiritual darkness, while they are being told what’s cool (BMWs) instead of the Bridge. Guys, look at the paradox you all just helped create—WAKE UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  107. Ooops–not BMWs—Mercedes. You can tell I don’t have one. 🙂

  108. Exactly—trouble is that they are so unaware that they think this is total coolness and are all beaming and proud of it. They think this is a great hip-hop video and they really pulled it off. And I’m sure POB fixed every part of it that went wrong, with all those incompetents working on the project, and he pulled it off all on his own, ordering everyone around, and there it is, the valuable final product! Take a big win POB, and the rest of you failures, back into the hole.

  109. DM should pay the Anons to give him lessons on how to do a real music video.

Funny, I would hate to know how much money was dumped into that awful POS DouchyB did – including all the money to put on that gaudy IAS event – and the above anon video I posted is a million miles above it and was done basically for free. All their video took was motivated, passionate people standing up to tyranny – and yet another reason its appealing and why crap from the CoS is revolting.

  110. GagShip

    Pope on a Boat

    Money is All

  111. Cindy Pinsonnault

How about “Come assail with us.”?

  112. My prediction is that some of those attendees will get the final message “they have been ripped off” and upon their return they either 1) stay away from the church quietly or 2) leave and blow the whistle as Jason B, Paul H and many did. The VFP of this event will be ARCX attendees. 🙂

  113. Li'll bit of stuff

Thank you Kassapa. Brilliant distillation of a “silo” full of heady juxtaposed data. Succinct Duplication with simplicity. Bravo!

  114. This is so transparent, it’s pathetic. I predict no genuine film makers go to this clown fest — unless such artists was blackmailed or had some sycophantic registrar bot-celeb run an “admire” manipulation on them. You know how that’s so well perfected by the vulture culture … while underneath, the gears are turning, the strings are being searched to pull.

Bottom Line: THAT POSTER IS HILARIOUS!!!!

David Miscavige’s “church” is a mockery of artists. He fears real artists. They attack and stalk artists — evidence abounds.

  115. You know what this Film Fest is? the 6 BILLLION (punch the pronunciation on the B) Six Billion straight up and vertical dollar$ (pant, drool) ….
and the rest of that smarmy hype (technically, if they show Academy Award winning movies from Netflix it’s not false advertising … just False period) … you know what this is?

It’s David MIscavige’s attempt to be a Writers of the Future! Where he gets to be Kingpin among aspiring artists (whose dreams will be recorded for purposes of manipulation) (you too can be a Tom Cruise, donate here).

Like the “Idle Org” openings….with tacky tap dancers (I love tap dancers, but choreography by Miscavige bellowing like Snagglepus from elevator shoes while people patter in top hats is cringe-making) … this event smacks of the same gaudy perversion, inversion as the faux Styrofoam Columns and laser light overwhelms.

It’s what kitchen soap sales people do to rake in money … put together cruises.

  116. The Pequod – or the boat of Charon.

  117. Insightful.

  118. Actually had thought of commenting on that for a while:

Yes, Marty, on top of everything else, is a VERY GOOD WRITER!

  119. I saw her as a geust in the Graham Norton Show (Britisch) Shy and funny little lady.

  120. That’s a bit strong.

  121. Indeed back to the good old days of 1699.

  122. To Top and All,

David is a slave, Marty and Mike (and all of us) are free, and with our freedom comes the “ability to respond” (responsibility) to assist those in need of love, compassion, forgiveness and guidance toward freedom from the nightmare existence each being created out of unkowingness, fear and denial of self worth, dignity and esteem as powerfully good and great individuals.
Humanity will have its peace and happiness because we are in the “know” that we guide the being to locate the “key” to unlock their prison of self created misery.

    CRA/KRC

    Gunner

  123. Except when they know they can’t get any more money out of you then they can’t wait to drop your butt of at the airport. It’s telling how your treated when you arrive (VIP) and when you leave after being reg’ed for everthing they can get (DB).

  124. Thx lil bit!

  125. Painful doesn’t begin to describe it! I almost threw up after watching it! I think Marty’s site is impacting more than we know. I mean there are a lot of post of rappers on here and think the CO$ is trying to emulate Marty’s success. Of course like so many other things the “church” does – it was an EPIC failure!

  126. Lynne you didn’t miss anything except maybe throwing up your last meal after watching it.

  127. Thanks Jethro! But I also believe it’s not just Miss Cabbage. The Holocaust wasn’t carried out by Hitler alone… but I hear what you saying – thx dude!

  128. “Gato,”

I saw those names too. But did anything you receive, either the original ad or the follow-up specifically say that movie people with those last names (i.e., the folks we know are Scn. movie types like Anne Archer and Mark Isham) will be attending and presenting?

Or are those names there as a sleazy, misleading sort of decoration, where the church will say “hey, we never promised that Mark Isham will teach you about scoring a film; that was just some artwork on the brochure!” when you ask for your money back.

Just saying I wouldn’t put it past them to pull a con like that. Immoral if not actually illegal…
