Abuse of Process – David Miscavige

Abuse of Process is a civil violation of law.  An Abuse of Process is accomplished when the court’s processes are used for an improper purpose – a purpose other than that which a party purports to use that process for.

In my professional opinion David Miscavige has used the Bexar County District Court for purposes that are improper and fraudlent.  That is assuming that the Tampa Bay Times has reported straight facts this evening.

The Times reported on the Scientology Inc v. Debbie Cook case as follows:

The agreement dated Monday allows both sides to essentially call it even and go their separate ways. Neither pays the other side money, and Cook and her husband are legally prohibited from ever again speaking ill of the church.

I am willing to bet everything I own that this is a blatant, outright lie lodged with the court for the purposes of making David Miscavige somehow look innocent of the testimony laid on his ass on 9 February 2012: Debbie Cook Testimony

Since David Miscavige has instructed his lawyers to fraudulently use the court’s processes to lie in order to cover up his serial criminal acts committed against a woman, I will weigh in with my professional opinion.

You can take it to the bank that Miscavige agreed to pay Debbie Cook and Wayne Baumgarten seven figures, at least two times – and possibly three times  – over to make them go away.

In fact, I have bet everything I have on it.  That is because if I am wrong, David Miscavige has every means available to haul me into court.

Bank on it that the bitch won’t bring it.

Bank on it also that I will stay on this like white on rice.

  1. You know Debbie Cook promised all of us who gave that if a settlment were reached or she was awarded lawyers fees she would reimburse all of us back! Do we think she has enough backbone to follow through, or do you think because of the settlement offer she won’t be “allowed” to even give us our money back because that proves that the devil and the Church of Scientology paid her off?

  2. Maybe they inherited money from a recently departed spinster Aunt?

Or perhaps the “spinster” is someone else eh, Dave?

  3. In that case she can now seriously help finance the ultimate destruction of this clinker of a thetan.

  4. And if that bitch does bring it, she’s going through me AND you.

I suspect we stand with many others.

  5. I agree. No money changing hands? Someone is shoveling Horse Crap on this and telling us it’s roses.

  6. Exactly! I with ya!

  7. Meant, I’m with ya!

  8. Marty — this is typical Miscavige sleaze.

Anyone who has ever been involved in litigation knows what went down. Miscavige paid to stop the pain. He also apparently paid to cover up the fact that he paid.

Had they simply done the usual “The case has been settled, the terms are confidential” it would have been one thing. To file a document in the court as a “PR cover” that tries to create a false picture is a new one on me — but par for the course.

So, I concur with you 100% and the bitch can come after both of us. Unlike him, neither you nor I have anything to hide.

  9. Cook said her testimony represented only a small part of what she wanted to say, “the tip of the iceberg.” I wish we could have heard the rest in open court! I think she should have pushed for the whole truth to come out as the gag order was done under duress I wonder if she had more duress to continue the gag order?

  10. SIgh! This makes sense. There is no other reasonable explanation that fits the facts. What in the world would Debbie have to gain by simply taking her ball and going home and then agreeing to drop her Facebook Page, not associate with the Indy’s and no speak out about the Church? Correct if you daid nothing, UNLESS, there was money on or under the table. Settlements outside of the Courts are not uncommon with settlement agreements making only vague statements about the conditions. Something like, neither side admits ANY culpability and have agreed to settle their disagreements according to their respective interests.

In this case, as Marty says, likely 7 figures to go away. If this is true I do want my dough back and I WILL be unfriending Debbie and WAYNE from their non existent page.

  11. sory this is sad scene. Debbie should agree to every thing but her freedom to communicate freely.

  12. Good on you Marty. Someone needs to stand up to that “bitch”.

  13. From the Tampa article: Nor can they have any contact with anyone who has disparaged or intends to disparage the church.

Sounds like Debbie agreed to be totally 100% marginalized, pushed off to the side, threat neutralized & any hope for 1st Dynamic enhancement gone for this life. How does this benefit her? I don’t get it.

I find it very hard to believe that anyone would agree to this. So what if the cult could potentially win millions from her. Might as well be billions because there’s no hope of ever collecting.

We’re all left wondering if there was a secret agreement between Debbie and the dwarf where money was exchanged but they agreed to file a bogus document with the court. Mother of God, talk about dealing with the devil!! This is sickening. Entheta. I think I’ll just go to bed. Good night.

  14. i notice Debbie’s fb account is deactivated. Is this why????

  15. Thanks for your insights.

I was truly disappointed that the trial was not able to continue and more truth come out. That Debbie once again entered into a confidentiality agreement with the Church places her testimony out of bounds for future reference in other court actions, as it can no longer be corroborated. It is now just hearsay. It cannot be used to help Heber or any other denizens of the “hole.” The continuation of the trial was an opportunity to buttress her testimony with more instances of civil rights violations and crimes and introduce many more witnesses. Debbie may have won her personal battle with the help of the Indies, but the real battle, that of creating a church that lives within the laws of the land, was not. Debbie sold us out for “30 pieces of silver.”

That Debbie’s story was able to come out is a win. It portends more future revelations of truth if the Independent community comes together to help fund the next worthy combatant of DM dirty deeds.

You are on the cutting edge of the sword of truth. Keep up the fight. Your efforts are appreciated.

  16. ” . . . and Cook and her husband are legally prohibited from ever again speaking ill of the church.”

Debbie didn’t speak ill of the church. She spoke of facts regarding David Miscavige’s actions, orders and leadership. The wording above again makes it look like DM is not in the wrong but just a poor little innocent no responsibility nobody that is being abused and lied about.

Well he is little and a nobody and not responsible so . . .

I just couldn’t resist that comment. I don’t care where that puts me on the tone scale.

    See Ya around,

  17. “….and Cook and her husband are legally prohibited from ever again speaking ill of the church.”

They have never spoken ill of the Church. What an alter is! They spoke ill of David Miscavige. Is he “the church” or does he misdirect this into a “Church” arena so he can use Church funds to cover legal expenses?

    Me thinks so!

  18. Personally Debbie & Wayne can keep the funds I was able to contribute. It was on a help flow and things are square in my space.

    Onward and upward.

    David Lingenfelter

  19. If they were paid seven figures I hope they remember you redirected much of your support over to them to help them.

  20. Isn’t it possible that, agreement or no agreement, Debbie could be subpoenaed to testify at some hypothetical future trial?

  21. A very heated subject that has a hell of a lot of TAA today. I as an auditor can understand much and so much Third Dynamic BPC today.

Here is my take for what it has occurred these past few days: David Miscavige has won and lost. He has lost more because he had to pay $$, once again to another victim of his overts at a likely higher price.

There is much antagonism to Debbie on this blog that she “sold out”, and that is understandable. I believe she delivered a very effective blow on the email she sent on New Years Eve to shit loads of people under the radar, and we are still seeing this effect today. Debbie was not able to take that to the limit, so to speak,

Finally, I am quite certain we will not hear from her again, As Marty points out, end of Session. History does have a way of repeating itself. Particulary in the Church of Miscavige.

  22. One last thing from the Blog Hug (me) before I secure –
Marty – YOU DID ONE HELL OF A JOB !!
    Mike – YOU TOO !!

    Goodnight Gentlemen.

  23. martyrathbun09

I wouldn’t touch blood money under any circumstances.

  24. This is loss, an angry loss. Who else is going to step up to the plate and be effective? Or is the sad truth that we and Scientologists, and mankind, will have to endure the suppressive reign of DM until he dies? Really… He is not that powerful. Just convincing.

  25. By the way, what you say Marty makes perfect sense. She was willing to lose all of her friends and clients, to speak out. She was willing to be sued, to speak out against the abuse. She was willing to lean on the Independent movement for witness testimony. She pulled out all of the stops. Now there has been a 180 degree turn around. Something happened to cause her back peddle. It wasn’t threat of a declare. It wasn’t threat to her business. It wasn’t the loss of her friends. It had to be, …………the almighty dollar! Those dollars bought in from the “extreme fundraising” she spoke out about.

  26. I didn’t donate anything to them and I don’t have a problem with them keeping your money either.

  27. dlingen you are mighty theta!

  28. David — You don’t need be concerned. Telling it like it is is high on the Tone Scale.

  29. Gotta give DM credit for unmocking her with a check. Once the word is out he shut her up (with a check under the table, what else?) nobody will ever listen to her again. So, I hope she is laughing all the way to the bank.

  30. How to handle setbacks: funnel your energy into doing something effective to bring Miscavige to justice. Just imagine what he’d most NOT want you to do and start doing it.

  31. Me either. This was a great example for the world to see what he is willing to do to people and how they can be compromised and become so fragile under his spell. Add to the list of “What your donations buy” Hush money so people will never know all of COB’s crimes. Payola!

  32. That bitch will be a no-show for any fight.

The Times doesn’t say whether the “document” they have is the settlement agreement or some other falsified tall tale. It looks like a falsified tall tale. The Times should have published the fact that it wasn’t really the settlement agreement. The church gave them horseshit hoping people will think it is chocolate pudding. That’s the real news story. Miscavige is guilty of Abuse of Process if he produced such a falsified document to falsely make himself look good at the Court’s expense. The Times should have pressed the Church for a copy of the settlement agreement….all the truth all the time. Publishing DM’s lies doesn’t help.

  33. I thought we were suppressing DM. He had to take his prisoners out of the hole. His crimes have been revealed and are still leaking. He has to endure US. From his compound. The only job he can secure now away from Scientology might be a prison warden position. He is like a trapped rat. Don’t fret. This is only season two of “Scientology Free Earth Drill”! THE GREATEST SHOW ON EARTH! Don’t expect to see DM in season three.
This will all work out in end. We do have a QUAL! And most of us have just rolled with the punches!

  34. Cured Robot Betsy

So Debbie got blood money, I won’t take it back either.

  35. I don’t feel like masturbating.

  36. Having been in touch with Debbie on and off over the last few months, I know that her health was failing. Debbie and Wayne were having a very rough time. They greatly appreciated the many people who stepped up and helped them with they were in a bad spot. Without that help, they would have gone under very quickly. The real truth that came out in Debbie’s testimony almost never come out. Indies made that happen. This was a big win for the Indy movement. This did not happen because one person spoke out. This happened because a large and determined group decided to make it happen. So Debbie is a broken piece now. Probably she was broken before this all started. The fact is that it was the Indie movement that kicked suppression right in the teeth. That’s what happened, that’s all that happened. This chapter closed. Another chapter will open. This skirmish is over and it made quite a dent. Take a win. Kudo’s to Marty and Mike.

  37. Yes. I think all this motion is to our benefit. Our being the Soldiers of Light, the seekers of Truth, the adherents to LRH’s Legacy.

Debbie did what she did. I contributed to that motion with full awareness that some sort of settlement was far more likely than not. I also contributed with full awareness that Debbie was an unexpected factor in resolving the current situation. She helped expose some truth. It seems the situation and circumstances she was involved in shall yet reveal more truth.

My opinion on my investment — i got off cheap.

Thoughtful Steve nailed it last post: Truth vs Cult of Miscavige.

  38. Theta Potata

Your creation of this blog is proof of this. In my opinion most powerful forum for independent Scientologists and exposure of DM’s crimes. Q – How much would it be worth for DM to “buy” its silence? A – A lot more than Debbie/Wayne probably got. The fact that you refuse to get paid off or silenced shows that you are truly a rare gem in the universe (Mike also!)

  39. To Marty, Mike, Steve and so many others who post here and other places on the Internet, to you guys who haven’t stepped back, who haven’t put profit above principle, who refuse to be silenced by a petty tyrant …

    Thank you.

  40. Right on Steve….

  41. Some time age I apologized on this forum to Debbie and Wayne for being critical about them taking the $100 000 silence money when they left the church in 2007. They apparently now made a second money deal with David Miscavige. I take that apology back.

  42. Thank you for bringing this up as the first comment. Personally, I believe Debbie took the settlement in part to repay everyone. Of course this will happen quietly and not immediately. If I get my money back I will probably put it toward auditing.

  43. Marty

I read the Tampa Bay Times report and it was an awful long stretch to swallow that Debbie had “settled” for no money and a reinstatement of her “gag order” and an agreed disconnection from anyone who has supported, or will support her original purpose to “reform the Church”. I simply could not reconcile it from my viewpoint.

That David Miscavige has apparently put his own evil twist on the information that was released regarding the “agreement” is in total alignment with his inability to forward ANY truth, and his inability to withhold himself from suppressing beings of good will any way that he can get away with.

But for me, that isn’t what I see as the most significant part of this blog post. It is your unequivocal “all in” stance that shook the rafters of my complacency.

    Thank you for that.

    Eric S

  44. Some time ago …

  45. Circulate the Debbie Cook New Year’s Email far and wide.
    Shine the light of truth.

    Debbie Cook wins.

    L. Ron Hubbard would be proud.

    Just my two cents.

  46. She could have told the entire truth of her entire experience the day after she sent out her famous email, if that was her purpose. She only spilled the “tip of the iceberg” , she said it herself.

You have to ask yourself, “Who or what, would only leak a small part.”? And, what would the purpose be for that? To understand.

  47. Debbie held real power in her hands and while what she has done so far has helped, there was so much more she could have done and contributed.

I want to commend the real heroes out there, starting with you Marty, your wife Mosey, Mike and his wife Christie and all the other people who have been under much greater harassment over the past 10 to 15 years.

People like Marc and Claire Headley, Tiziano Lugli and his wife, Jason Beghe, Karen Delacarrire, Steve Hall –all have endured constant harassment over the past several years and have not bowed down to the pressure and still stand tall.

People like Amy Scobee, Mat Pesch, Nancy Many, Chuck Beatty, Jesse Prince, Mark Bunker, Tory Christman, and Jeff Hawkins who have never wavered and are still doing what is right. There are many more out there.

And all those who contributed to help Debbie and Wayne defend themselves and who answered the call to action when it was needed, not expecting anything in return. It is good to know that when others leave the suppression, they have a safe harbor to turn to in their hour of need.

All these people decided that their personal integrity, the human rights of others and the truth was more important to them and valuable than the money that DM conned out of people of good will.

DM thinks that everyone has their price, but he is wrong and that is why he will eventually fail.

Not everyone will accept blood money.

  48. Debbie wins, truth, justice and freedom wins,
    Scientology “without the Inc.” wins.
    We win.

By the way Thoughtful, thank you for raising this idea.
    You are Thoughtful AND Brilliant.

  49. There is no sens of the muselment of Debbie and Wayne. It is a huge outpoint regarding their determination to tell the truth about the corporate church of $cientology gulag and abuses. There is two hypthesis : i) they received a huge amount of money and so they sold their souls and all the indies and friends in the same occasion, ii) she and her husband were sort of PDHed or threatened to death or something crazy of that category… One should made some research to discover the truth and bring Davey to justice so that he can be put on a «black hole» for ever.

  50. I have compassion if health issues led Debbie to say “enough” on this.

However, will that decision buy peace? What will it be like to know you can’t talk about certain things, even in conversation? Whether she traded her freedom for money, health, or a reach for peace, she still traded it. She is again a prisoner to corporate Scientology.

However, in the course of getting to where we are today, Debbie showed courage, integrity, and a willingness to tell the truth about DM and abuses. Let’s not forget that, and let’s do remember that we will probably never know the factors that led to this settlement. If we knew all the facts, Debbie might still be a hero (okay, heroine, for any traditionalists).

It seems to me people may be feeling a secondary or failed purpose on this. Be patient. The river of truth is powerful enough to keep flowing.

  51. Oh well, so much for my headline in the last post then. I guess nobody’s gonna be admitting that say $3 mil, at least, was paid to shut Debbie and Wayne up. Well, I can speculate all I want to! And I think you’re 100% correct, Marty.
I hope DM had to pay and pay BIG! And I hope those people with blinders on get hit up hard for the money too. This stuff can’t stay hidden forever. Puhleeze!
And, it doesn’t say her sworn testimony was untrue either. The only people fooled by this shit are the ones getting raped for donations to pay for it (aka people in DM’s church)!
Just one more crime committed by the crim de la crim, DM and his crim de la crim cronies.

    And there’s always another day…

  52. Dennis Mulroy

David Miscavige is one sick puppy…

  53. And just remember, A diamond is just a piece of charcoal that handled stress exceptionally well!

  54. And just how much of a person’s life can you actually regulate or sign an agreement to cover? They can file their legal papers saying that there’s no money involved and do a deal under the table where she makes agreements, but then there’s nothing legal to stop her from breaking those agreements, since they don’t exist in legal papers. How can anybody stop her from doing whatever in the hell she wants as long as they “never again speak ill of the church”. Do you realize how much that leaves to speak ill of?! A LOT!

  55. 4ever, I suspected as much and we know how long this would have dragged out…forever! What kind of health and life can you have constantly fighting an SP who’s got multimillions to draw from? She delivered a huge blow to DM and his church. I won’t disparage her one bit.

  56. OK, that made me laugh out loud 🙂

  57. E.J. Croughs

She still holds greatest power and influence, she is so much smarter as you’ll soon find out.

  58. 4ever,
    Good post.

The large offer of money was predictable. The choices to be made difficult.

Personally, I wouldn’t trade nor sell what I have in freedom now, for any price. It is truly priceless.

  59. Hey Dave, I still practice Scientology, openly, and use L. Ron Hubbard’s Technology in my life and to better others with more compassion and understanding of them daily. I AM A SCIENTOLOGIST.

And now you know what will come up in Court. It’s all still there. Enjoy your enema. No matter how clean your colon is, your hands are dirty. They will come clean, inevitably.

  60. Her business website is still working :
    cookprofitabilityservices says all !
She gave some cookprofitabilityservices to the Indies !
    Cook has some profitabilities !
    LOL !

  61. Guys, but the story could be different.
What if the agreement with the church includes reforms?
This would satisfy us all, wouldn’t it?
The agreement could still be pan-determined.

  62. Debbie said: “the tip of iceberg”. But Titanic sank after colliding with a tip of iceberg ! We are only at the beginning of the story. Thank you Debbie !

  63. I have to say I am disappointed that there was no trial. I wanted every horrible thing that happened to Debbie, and to others, to come out in court. However, there is too much unknown for me to judge her, and as Sioux saying goes,”don’t judge a man until you’ve walked in his mocassins.” Those of you who have walked in those same shoes are a better judge.

  64. I think we can take the word “broke” out of this description. There ain’t nothing broke about her. She took the motion that came in and used it to win. She’s on fire! This was still a victory for the Indie movement, since we do not condone failure and being suppressed. She twisted DM’s arm and did a royal shakedown on that little m*%^#$(^!#@r! Good for her!

  65. I’ll say one thing for sure, Mike and Marty. The two of you sure do have big balls!

  66. Let’s not denigrate or harshly judge Debbie just yet. Let’s remember her original truth-telling email and her obviously sincere court testimony. There is lots of missing and conflicting data here. Debbie and Wayne “settled” for no money? What exactly then did they gain? Freedom from being sued for a gazillion dollars they don’t have? I think that there is a very high probability that Marty has called this one correctly as far as the money goes. So then, what would be her motive in accepting it? A couple of million dollars? Not that this couldn’t be true, but it is not congruent with her January 1st email, not to mention with her quarter of a century or so of dedication to forwarding LRH tech in the Sea Org while earning peanuts in money. Maybe I am naive and overly trustful, but I have the feeling that there is more here. Much more.
…..And I also have a feeling that the Devil is in the details.
I don’t think that this thing is over yet. Not until the whole truth comes out. And it will. So, why don’t we all just keep looking at this puzzle with our x-ray vision until the whole picture comes clear.
I have faith that it will.
Until then, as far as Debbie and Wayne are concerned, here is a replay of my favorite and shortest LRH Policy:

(An old poem adopted as policy by LRH)

There is so much good in the worst of us
And so much bad in the best of us
That it ill behooves any of us
to speak about the rest of us.

  67. What happened with Debbie Cook was a disappointment because she dropped many points of the code of honor. Some points: Never desert a group to which you owe your support. Never compromise with your own reality. Your self-determinism and your honor are more important than your immediate life. And Your integrity to yourself is more important than your body.
Yes she had body problems but to give up and take the money from the same SP? She said it was wrong to do it in the first place but was threatened ,now she was free so what is her excuse? Under the agreement she wont be able to explain herself…

  68. Li'll bit of stuff

Pity, it’s a pretty effective stress reliever!
Yay on rolling with the punches, too

  69. +1. It’s too bad there is so much mystery left over. Biggest mystery to me still is that some one, ANYONE, can have their inalienable right, not to mention their Constitutional right, to communicate truth stopped or impeded. How can it possibly be wrong in any context or illegal to see a cat, then say “I saw a cat”. I don’t get that at all. Never will.

  70. miscavigeisscaredofsam

Aww don’t be mad at Debbie. She was never did have the strength of character to be a real a player – she was just a pawn in a bigger game.
Debbie Cook had a momentary attack of conscience. We took advantage of it and milked it for all it was worth. It was a fun game for us and we got to enjoy watching Miscavige squirm.
WE were players. And we won.
The only person who lost anything here was Debbie. She had the chance to be great and yet she chose to be small. I wouldn’t want to be the one who has to live with those choices for the rest of my life – I like to be able to look in the mirror and I like to have real friends who I can look in the eye.

  71. BUT, Debbie, Wayne, I know you will read this. Marty gave you the shirt off his back. If you do not figure out a way to flow that power back, all of the magic that has traveled with you up to this point, will desert you like a
nun running from a whorehouse in Vegas. I don’t care how you figure it out, you are resourceful. Just a word of advice.

  72. Right. Debbie Cook is not the only one who knows what really went on behind the scenes. Sadly I do think she sold out and that was after so many of us rallied around her. This won’t be the first time (nor the last) that I misjudged character. I consider my investment worth what was revealed in the first hearing.

  73. Whatever Debbie signed or did or failed to do it cannot be a Why for us, obviously – it is outside our sphere of influence.
Many, including myself, had a wrong estimation of her. (Hence the disappointment.) Making a wrong estimation is my error. I have been willing to ignore outpoints (like omitting her own participation in the overts and crimes she had labelled or other points of weakness). Maybe a weak point of the social characters amongst us to rather concentrate on the good, pleasant or what fits to our wishes. This is what I learn from it.
As far as I am concerned, my help is still there. There isn’t anything that can’t be undone or forgiven.

  74. When Debbie was in the middle of it all I have decided to help. Help her, our cause and truth. I was going to send my donation. Then, I had a consideration on this. I wrote her a letter. I add it here. It speaks for itself and seems to be more relevant now. I sent it on her web page. I never got a reply of any kind, not even short ack that there will be a reply in future. I did not like it. I knew she was very busy but she could at least relate. Marty is a busy chap (I bet!) yet he relates and replies, to less important mails, as well he can, and shows care. This, to me, is huge credit. After not getting any reply for some time, I sent my donation to Marty instead, to use as he pleases. And I felt great. (And the fact that it reached him was technically a miracle, as he and I know…so it seemed even more right). Here is the letter: “Dear Debbie,
1st of all congratulations and well done, for standing up for truth, sanity, ARC and the Tech.
Your recent activity was a brave and Theta activity, and it touched my heart and my mind, as it did with many others. Although I do not know you, I did consider donating to your defense. Then I had a 2nd thought and felt I needed to clarify something.
I am a scientologist in good standing, (still). I have had my own “horror story” in the past, as well as observing outnesses and departures from justice and ethics tech. and LIES…So I just stayed away.
Then I discovered the independents and am trying to complete my doubt formula.
Please do not see in the following an attempt to judge or evaluate for you in any way. It is not!!
    My clarification:
For many many years you were a strong part of the organization which was doing everything you now recognize as false, out-ethics, out-policy, abusing and harming Scientology and scientologists. And you went on, not only accepting, but being a top executive in the system which enhanced these things. Not long ago I read an account of an Italian lady (Maria Gardini) telling about extreme and un-ending regging cycles in which you were having a major role, doing exactly what you now denounce so strongly, over regging and distressing this person, to put it mildly. There must have been other similar things. I know, Marty, Mike and others are in same position. But I think they are taking responsibility seriously, and making amends impressively each in his own way. They were beating and abusing people…BUT they came out with it, disclosed it and confronted it all. What about you?
I am a public. I did contribute to Scientology in my time. But no doubt it does not amount to 1/100 of your contribution and years of service. And as I said above, and will repeat again, I have no right nor will to judge.
    Still, the question/clarification bothers me.
    Will appreciate your comment.
Thanks, and good luck with the road ahead. Your CAUSE is mine too.
    Best wishes,
And to end on a positive: Debbie might have betrayed many people here. If so, it is mainly her problem, and a big one. Those betrayed should rejoice in the so many other ethical and theta things they do. That is more important than anything else. Steve is absolutely right.
And please consider, this is all very new, the plot might yet show more… may be Debbie has yet a plan we cannot think of, which will prove otherwise. Patience is a gem underrated and not used enough.
    Bless all,

  75. “Neither pays the other side money” sounds like a carefully crafted phrase designed to mislead. It could be technically correct as long as no cheque or bank transfer was involved. I have heard of (non-Scientology) cases in which people were paid off by the other side buying a profitable company and handing it over to them. Each side can then claim to be untainted by anything as degrading as money.

  76. Li'll bit of stuff

Mark, absolutely spot on! The big difference, being the degree
of REMAINING Dynamic, in all those who have and continue to
stand tall. Without excluding anyone, from a deserving place on
the list, the standouts, for me, are obviously, Marty,(&Mosey,) Mike, Steve,Jim, Les,Trey, Ingrid, Sam,The Oracle,Mike Laws,
Ken&Yvonne, Karen#1, WH,WW, Theo, Jason Beghe, Carcha. Again, this includes, ALL who refuse to sell out THEIR integrity.

Please take a deserved bow, y’all, you’ve set a stellar example!

    With enormous respect,……. Li’ll bit

  77. Kevin Stevenson

What a shame. A total victory for The Church of Scientology Inc.
She sold out. She was Captain when Lisa’s wrongful death got covered up.
They will win, always, as long as the guilty, her, are for sale.

  78. Kevin Stevenson

“Unlike him, neither you nor I have anything to hide.”
This can’t be real. The both of you can bury this guy in an instant.

  79. Geeze what a fucking show! If the people of Earth had an inkling of what was at stake here this would be the tune in channel of the universe! For whatever reason, I am thinking one bourbon, one shot, one beer!

  80. An analysis by someone on VV who appears to know legal stuff suggests that if Co$ had a significant chance of winning they should have gone ahead because winning would have meant validation their gag agreements and the conditions under which they were signed.

Another thought, I haven’t seen the exact wording but I gather that Cook and co cannot reveal what they know rather than not being able to mere speak ill of the church of scientology.

If this is precise surely one can deduce: Cook and co know things the Church of Scientology does not wish others to know.

Based on previous testimony one can deduce the nature of what that is, that it would involve eye witness testimony to abuses and degradation at the hands of the church of scientology at the very least.

Based on the fact the church of scientology sought such an agreement one can deduce they would have no other reasonable legal recourse were Cook and co to reveal what they know other that said order, meaning it presumably would be difficult if not impossible to disprove the veracity of said knowledge.

As with Jan Eastgate, were there no actual guilt surely the accused, Jan Eastgate or the church of scientology, would want their day in court to clear their names?

In this case both parties, certainly Jan Eastgate, seems to think the turn of events shows their innocence. It doesn’t and if anything this very attitude displays guilty relief rather than innocence.

  81. Lucy, it’s not just that….Capt Cook has truly lost everything. She sold her personal integrity. It’s gone

  82. Honestly, I feel extremely sad for Debbie and Wayne. They have missed perhaps THE greatest lesson of all — a lesson we can learn when we are alive instead of when we die.

That in order to have “eternal” life – you must die – the Self must die, the EGO must die.

While I don’t consider myself a “Christian” these words that I’ve heard throughout my life made sense to me only once I had LOST everything. Which included my physical health, having had the same malady I believe Debbie has – fibromyalgia … (which I no longer have)

Mark 8:34-35 (NIV) Then he called the crowd to him along with his disciples and said, “If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. FOR WHOEVER WANTS TO SAVE HIS LIFE WILL LOSE IT, BUT WHOEVER LOSES HIS LIFE FOR ME, WILL SAVE IT”
    (caps mine)

This does not mean TO ME that one must “believe” in Jesus Christ but TO ME it means that one is able to DIE to his ego and find the true SELF within.

THAT self is immortal. And joyful.

The Self that owns stuff, has a FB page, has an “identity”, accumulates wealth to feed and house the Self — is a construction, it is compounded and thus it is IMPERMANENT and will change constantly and it will suffer. No amount of money can make it PERMANENT, as it is compounded.

  83. Mike I’m with you. The first thing I thought as I was reading this was “that Fing C***”. She sold her personal integrity to the point of no recovery. My bet is she even, with all the money, does not sleep well and probably never will again.
That’s why I have so admired you and been honored to be a friend of yours – you have such integrity along with wisdom and compassion. God only knows what he would have paid you to go away.
Marty, although we have never met I have the same admiration towards you as well.

  84. I realized that putting “Christian” in quotes appeared demeaning and I didn’t intend that. I simply meant that I didn’t follow a particular Christian religion but I do consider that I try to follow Christian core principles.

  85. I know better

LOL. Fear not…Everything that has a beginning has an end Neo…

  86. Jim with all due respect. There is no room here for “benefit of the doubt”.
Clearly, very clearly, she got paid. Rather it was orchestrated from the beginning we will never know.

  87. Dear Debbie,
from the beginning of this year I hoped that you’re not a kind of Galileo Galilei.

Galileo’s championing of heliocentrism was controversial within his lifetime, when most subscribed to either geocentrism or the Tychonic system.
He met with opposition from astronomers, who doubted heliocentrism due to the absence of an observed stellar parallax.
The matter was investigated by the Roman Inquisition in 1615, and they concluded that it could only be supported as a possibility, not as an established fact.[9][10] Galileo later defended his views in Dialogue Concerning the Two Chief World Systems, which appeared to attack Pope Urban VIII and thus alienated him and the Jesuits, who had both supported Galileo up until this point.
He was tried by the Inquisition, found “vehemently suspect of heresy”, forced to recant, and spent the rest of his life under house arrest.

    – from Wikipedia

And I still do. Not only for the sake of Scientology, the only workable technology and it’s future fruits, but for your own well being.

There is a way. Unfortunatly a beast is sitting right on the pipline of the source.

Thank you for your New Years Message as it helped me and my wife to disconnect from the suppression.
It also helped me to help others to see the current scene of the Church.
    Thank you.

Love to you and your family and to those you love.

  88. Your humble servant

    Eric S,

You are right. There is quite a lot there is still unknown here. The Times article appears to reference a definite agreement in some document filed with the court. So far, we haven’t seen it. It hasn’t been verified for all to see that there was any such signed agreement filed with the court. If so, let’s see it and let’s see who signed it.

If Debbie and Wayne really agreed to be quiet and become invisible in exchange for the corporate church to drop the lawsuit, then that would seem to me to be very foolish indeed. If they had really agreed to accept a substantial sum of money for their silence while at the same time saying they had not accepted any, that would seem to me to be beyond foolish.

    Let’s see what develops.

  89. Because many may have donated anonymously, it might be possible to return any settlement – if it exists – to the fund itself. I really cringe to use the words “legal reserve fund”.

  90. Sickening is a great word for this Pat. Let’s all consider this the BITCH has absolutely NO TRUE friends now. Anyone willing to forgive her she can’t communicate with now anyway.
Debbie, if you are at some internet cafe in a wig and sunglasses, reading this – and I bet you are. My admiration went instantly to YOU SUCK! You sold your right to communicate so I’ll revise that YOU SUCK AND YOU ARE STUPID

  91. David, I agree we will never see the money sent to help her. So F her. Flourish and Prosper. Right on!

  92. Oracle respectfully – when she spoke out she spoke out she didn’t lose friends. The ones that disconnected were not really friends.
Example: When I got declared one of my ex girl friends got pulled out of course and read the order she was then told to cut the comm line. She told the Chief MAA “I absolutely will not so I’m not pretending. He is no SP and you know that too. The disconnect policy was canceled by Ron. You guys need to catch up” she then got up left dept 3 and went back on course.
Point is Oracle that is a friend. The walk aways when she spoke out were not friends at all. NOW she lost friends.

  93. Path of Buddha

“Probably she was broken before this all started.”
I can’t see how it could be otherwise. A dedicated Scientologist, declared suppressive, who would not join Independent Scientology? My donation was intended for Debbie’s lawyer because he was the only long run legal hope with a chance to expose Moth-cavige. It was money well spent. He now has experience for the next battle. In my opinion, Debbie’s silence only highlights the fear factor that members of Scientology live under.
May all beings living in fear be well and happy!
    George M. White

  94. Are you really calling Miscavige “she” as an insult?

  95. Oracle, like any leader of a criminal organization. He has a stash for escape and a plan When it get’s really hot, and it will. When the Feds finally close in- which will only happen by more exposure and force of hand. DC is the key I believe. DM will end up in Dubai in a 10,000 sf Penthouse with a minimum of several hundred million and a 25 yr old GF in tow.

  96. What would it have cost to continue her suit?

  97. This simply shows where Debbie’s loyalties lie. She looked out for Number One (and Two). Perhaps she is tired and disillusioned and just wanted to move on with the rest of her life. Maybe health factored into her decision.

As far as my dono, she can keep it. I got my money’s worth. I am disappoint but it was her decision to make.

  98. If you are angry enough, speak out about what you know. Put yourself out there. Show dm he doesn’t still control you. You may not like that Debbie settled but you have to at least give her kudos for speaking out.

    Martha Greene

  99. Mark very well said and second it! We should all share great admiration and gratitude towards the gays and gals you named. True integrity is what they have and the ones you named that I know personally are probably the happiest and certainly the most theta people I have EVER known. True heros

  100. Charlie Sweeny, pre-GAT Class IV, out since '95

    Hear, hear, Mark!

    In The-Big-Scheme-Of-The-Universe…what’s Done is Done.

Miscavige’s reign is coming to an end…if in nothing but body-death ultimately. His organization is dwindling. His people damaged, broken and PTS. He is failing…and he has failed.

It is for Us here in the Outer Band…the Free and Independent and Cognited…to move on and create our Scios anew for ourselves.

  101. Path of Buddha

“Probably she was broken before this all started.”

  102. martyrathbun09

Their legal “expert” is about as aware as a mushroom.

  103. Being unaware of the actual agreement, I cannot comment upon it.

Personally, I’d like to have seen the ‘rest of the iceberg’. Given what is truely at stake here, the existence of the tech, the good name of LRH and Scientology, the reformation of an organization which is capable of enormous good for us all, to me that would outweigh concerns of personal comfort. It seems Debbie had an arsonal she could have used to bring about a greater shift in the downward spiral of the CofS, and I’d like to have seen it used. To not do so … well …

I’ve never been in a situation of such personal duress as was Debbie and Wayne, so it may be somewhat out of line for me to be critical of their actions. In their shoes I have not tred. I would like to think that I would have gone forward, taken DM to court, regardless of the torpedos, soley to bring that sprial to a concusion. I’d like to think I could survive that.

Regardless, I wish Debbie and Wayne well, and I hope they do try to continue up the Bridge.

  104. Rory Medford

Debbie will do the right thing she has lots of integrity!

  105. E.J. – respectfully, how do you figure this? This is totally non-confrontational I ask because I don’t see where she does. What am I missing?

  106. ROFL!!!!!!!!!

  107. I certainly understand why Debbie and Wayne got out of this particular game. I see certain people faulting them here. Well, unless the critics of Wayne and Debbie have walked the litigation path with the Church down to the end, they really aren’t in a position to express any credible criticism.
Of course, understanding it doesn’t equate to liking the outcome, but I can’t fault their actions.
What I really don’t like is what temporary pump-up effect this settlement, along with the incompetence of the Australian prosecutors in screwing up the Jan Eastgate prosecution, might bring to King Squirrel and his Nuts. He probably thinks he has performed brilliantly once again after his sycophants screwed it all us, and that he is invulnerable. His army of Nuts probably are just breathing a sigh of relief that these particular situations are over, and King Squirrel will not be beating them futher over these.

  108. Totally got you, Windhorse.
“If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.”
“Coming after me” is following the eternal principle as he did.

In the new testament Jesus often says “if you believe me”, which actually does not mean “if you pray to me”. He wanted people to look and understand the Principle.
“I and the Father are one.”
Not necessarily in sphere of influence but in quality.

    A Tao that can be defined, is not the eternal Tao;
concepts that can be conceived, are not eternal concepts!
    (from Tao Te Ching)

  109. As pissed off as I am about the latest developments in this case, the fact remains that Debbie DID open the eyes of quite a few people with her New Year’s email and still more with her testimony in Texas.

  110. Espirito – as stated earlier “end of session”. She is out of the game forever. She opened Pandora’s box a little more but was in a position to force reform and de-thrown DM like never before and she sold out. There is no WDC anymore so alter Tech is not going to do it only constant exposure of abuse and financial fraud is going to unseat him. Constant evidence and exposure and it’s got to be domestic U.S. media exposure. As I have always said D.C. is the key. It must be enough exposure that prompts the general public to ask their reps in D.C. why this is allowed. Fear of embarrassment in D.C. will prompt action. She could have very possibly done that.
There will not be coup from within. There is too much fear. I truly liken him to Sudam Hussien concerning the fear factor. That applies to SO and parishioners (parishioners via thier local MAA)

  111. WTF Debbie? Where is your integrity? You really let a lot of us down. We were hoping for more from you. All that money Davey awarded you is not going to move you one inch on the bridge. By settling you left the back door open for the shock troops. I’m not happy at all Debbie.

  112. Hey Ben, I gotta tell you I wouldn’t have responded. When the opportunity comes to go on the record with YOUR’E counsel questioning you (the defendant) the counsel should be tarred and feathered if he ask you anything that would lessen your’e defense in the courts eyes.
    Not defending her. Just saying

  113. Am I absolutely crazy but wasn’t nearly everyone applauding Debbie just 24 hours ago in the previous posting?

  114. Thanks Bruce. As I’ve said many times before (and this is straight out of the old Volunteer Minister Handbook) DM’s product is confusion. The way you overset a confusion is by putting in order. It is a sure way to win and it’s guaranteed to win.

LRH says you must ignore the confusion that blows off. He says repeatedly don’t try to stop the confusion. Just keep putting in order. If someone leaves our ranks let ’em go. Instead of resisting, put in order. It’s what I’m doing right now.

An LRH corollary that pertains to Debbie and Wayne: If one puts in order very fast the result is an explosion. Debbie put in a great deal of order very rapidly and… KABOOM.

    We just witnessed the explosion.

The tech works. The more order you put in, the stronger you become. Start at home. Clean up the office. Make some plans. Get on a fitness program. Help other Indies. Expand your Scn knowledge. Listen to a lecture. Start moving up the Bridge. Help someone with ethics tech. Get on course. Post something online. And keep putting truth out there. There are many more Debbie’s and Wayne’s out there who must likewise come forward or die compromised.

  115. Can anyone explain why this agreement has more validity than the first one?

If she wants to reveal “the rest of the story” or what’s under “the tip of the iceberg” now she has the means to consult lawyers and make sure what she says does not break the agreement – and she has the means to defend herself should she be sued again.

And does anyone think David Miscavige will sue her ever again.

I just hope we have not heard the last from Debbie Cook. And I hope it will be less than 5 years this time.

  116. Random Stranger

    1) Buy Tom Cruise that custom-built motorcycle with inscription on the fender that says, “Ha, ha, ha, I was just kidding about COB’s abuse! Love, Debbie”, as per DM’s instructions.

    2) Escrow money for yearly birthday gifts to DM in perpetuity, as per his instructions.

    3) Buy video camera to capture pin-sticking of the Haitian voo-doo dolls of Marty and Mike so footage can be streamed live to DM, as per his instructions.

    4) Get that special software that prevents us from ever writing anything on any New Year’s Eve, ever, ever, ever, as per DM’s instructions.

    5) Buy that time-share condo in Curacao so we can see the Freewinds from patio window, as per DM’s instructions.

    6) Send out generic thank you disconnection cards to all those who donated to our legal campaign, as per DM’s instructions.

    7) Buy 100 sets of special edition, gold-gilded, large-print DM-signed Basic Books in titanium cases, as per DM’s instructions.

    8) Make substantial donation to Squirrel Busters for some new helmets, commemorative edition t-shirts and liposuction, as per DM’s instructions.

    9) Hand-write secret confidential personal letters of apology and retraction to all 12,000 recipients of our New Year’s email, as per DM’s instructions.

    10) Get some of that health care we’ve been looking into.

  117. Rory, respectfully – she’s toast, done, not just out of the game she is out of the park. Never, ever to be heard from again. Probably house shopping in the islands somewhere

  118. Marty thank you for all you do. Mike that goes to you too. This scene serves to me as a reminder as to the tremendous integrity you guys have.

  119. Freeatlast,
I’ve thought a lot about this since last night. I think it comes down to someone in lower conditions. Pity this wasn’t addressed before she undertook this recent journey. Debbie has a lot of horsepower. When someone like that goes into lower conditions, the ramifications can be pretty big.

God only knows the last time Debbie remembered she had a 1st Dynamic. LRH says, “The 1st and 3rd dynamics have a habit of interlocking and backflashing and upsetting everything.” I think we’ve just seen a real life example of that.

  120. Kim Rainbolt

I think it’s difficult to judge another person’s integrity and whether it’s lost or intact.

  121. Indeed. Reminds me of that quote from one of the “classics” lectures where the ol’ man says – paraphrasing – that the Road to Truth is the only road that has to be travelled ALL THE WAY. Stopping along the way is simply not an option.

  122. Thank you Marty, for your sense of justice, and willingness to act. You speak and act for many.

    Money for silence…………………………. seems slimey.

    Time for a shower.

  123. (that was in reply to The Oracle post)

  124. I see no reason to feel like making fun of someone else’s cherised religious beliefs. Oh, wait … I think you just said that.

  125. Jethro Bodine

I’m happy that Debbie’s court testimony given under the penalty of perjury will always be available for people to view on the internet. However, I’m disappointed she didn’t follow through. For a second, I thought this was all about standing up for what is right. For a second, I thought this was an opportunity to stick a hot poker up the arse of Corporate Radical $cientology and wiggle it around with a devilish grin on one’s face. But at the end of the day, it was all about money and doing the “safe” thing. At the end of the day, Debbie allowed her integrity to be compromised, but who am I to judge her?

  126. The same old LDW

I’m going to do another original OT IV session today and bring myself closer to the goal of the level which is, “proof up a being against any possibility of being reimplanted in the future.”

That should REALLY piss miscavige off.

  127. Marty, that statement hit home more than any here. It is exactly that, “blood money”. And I am sorry to say that from the beginning of the trial, I KNEW that it would end up just like this. With a big pay off for Cook and hubby and all the help from you and Mike, along with all the help they got from the indies would all be for nothing. Still, it is a huge letdown, especially for all the people who chipped in to help them. I am sure that alot of people who donated money could not afford to but did it anyways.

  128. E.J. Croughs

You’re missing that she’s a smart Cookie, maybe even smarter than you.

  129. E.J. Croughs

Learning from mistakes prevents repeating them.

  130. I agree. None of us are in Debbie Cook’s shoes, whether we think we are or not. I donated to her defense, and it was done freely without one thought of reimbursement. I wish her all the best.

  132. What a huge disappointment. The freedom to communicate is not a commodity that one can sell. I guess Debbie changed her mind and feels that what is going on in the Church is just fine or is willing to be paid to assume that stance.

  133. Debbie and Wayne are muzzled. Is their lawyer as well? Is he prevented from representing others in their former situation and with what he now knows? I would imagine if he gets a cut of any under the table buy offs he would have to also agree to shut up?

One “EP” sought was for others who had been forced to sign such ‘agreements’ to know they weren’t as binding as they may have been led to believe. The lesson learned from this is, “Come on out to the sunshine.”? or “Go back and get a $#!+ load of $ to shut up”? or both?

I have not walked in Debbie’s shoes. I did not mortgage my home to donate to her. I did not “give till it hurt” but only what I felt comfortable with.

    Thanks Marty.

  134. Alex Castillo

    Hey Mike,
I think one of the greatest, perhaps THE greatest benefit a person can obtain from LRH’s Dianetics and Scientology is: after happily removing the clouds that cloud the native ability to live free and evolve at the same time, a person becomes independent and is now in a position where he/she can make decisions with certainty and always considering the first two dynamics as top priority, unless you are in the army or some weird cult like Miscavology.

So who’s to say what is on their minds…

If one was to walk a mile or two on Debbie’s and Wayne’s shoes at this time,
    what would one learn?

  135. SKM: “I and the Father are one.”
Not necessarily in sphere of influence but in quality.

This is another of my favorites which took me quite awhile to “get” —

Just as I am the buddha, you are the buddha etc — the QUALITY is the same.

It’s getting TO this quality that auditing helps with, that prayer helps with, that meditation helps with — but in the END — it’s the individual who must make the ultimate sacrifice and DIE to the ego to meet the father … to meet himself.

  136. The same old LDW

OUT! OUT! Damn spot. Will these hands ne’er be clean?

  137. The same old LDW

However, there is also, “keep your own counsel and select your own decisions.”

  138. The same old LDW

I really can’t wait to meet you in person, Sam. Shake your hand I will.

You coming to the indy party in July? Hope so.

  139. Just re-read “An Update From Debbie” (https://markrathbun.wordpress.com/2012/03/15/update-from-debbie/). For someone who claimed to be on a “quest for truth and justice”, and that the “out ethics at the top” of the church “can’t be allowed to go on”, perpetuating suppression by accepting a huge pay off in exchange for silence seems rather…errm…odd (being polite here).

“It is a real shame that parishioners’ hard earned money is being used to cover up the crimes and gross human rights violations being committed by the ‘leader’ of Scientology.” — Debbie Cook.

Yeah. It really is. And now it’s in your bank account.

Excuse me while I throw up.

  140. The same old LDW

Let’s not forget that the truth Gleileo saw is now common knowledge.

And even today there are a few members of the “flat earth society.”

  141. one of those who see

Yes, the Road to Truth. Good one Martin. Very appropriate comment.

  142. Freeatlast,
I’d like to thank you and your girlfriend. Never met either of you, but I like you.

  143. Why would people donate money they could not afford? Did they learn nothing from being in the COB’s COM?

  144. Les,
God am I glad to hear that the original OT IV is BACK on the lineup. Well done. Yesssssss!!!

For all of those who have been through Dave’s mill, there IS the actual LRH Bridge, and Les is doing just that with the ORIGINAL OT IV RD. There’s a second part that’s Solo, and then there’s allllll sorts of good stuff.

  145. What? We thought Captain Cooke was going to ride in, “save us all” and “lead us to ultimate victory”? Was never going to happen but she did help nevertheless. And Debbie will get whatever Debbie is going to get based on her decisions and actions. But let’s not forget, that’s true for all of us.We live by what we do or don’t do. And remember, the overriding wish to have, look to and rely on a tiny number of leaders has been Scientology’s biggest problem since it all began. It literally plagued LRH. All he ever wanted was for those that benefited from Scientology to take a little responsibility for it and push it along. Where that happened, Scientology expanded.

Alas, that craving for leadership , that hope that someone else would come along and take full and total responsibility for Scientology is one of the main reasons we have David Miscavige today..

As LRH said: “The giddy diaper days are over.” Don’t think it has ever been truer. And I don’t think it has ever been truer that Independent Scientology is going to be what WE make it. And the encouraging word on the street is that we are making more of it every day.

  146. Alex:

If one was to walk a mile or two on Debbie’s and Wayne’s shoes at this time, what would one learn?

    A great deal, I am sure 🙂

  147. HN:

He probably thinks he has performed brilliantly once again after his sycophants screwed it all up, and that he is invulnerable.

    No doubt.

And that is EXACTLY the mindset you want him to have. It’s from that position that he launches his most self-destructive footnukes.

  148. For crying out loud, Debbie, why?

You only had to ask, I’d have given you every scrap of everything to help.
You know how important this is.

    I still love you anyway.
    Richard Kaminski

  149. wh,
The easiest thing for a thetan to become is one of his ideas. It’s so close, so fine, so light, at first. Thus an “ego”.

  150. It was never going to be easy.

But the seed has been sown. As a result of Debbie’s actions, many a scientologist became aware of what was really going on within the “church”.

The word is quietly spreading – faster and faster.

Right now, it is a silent revolution.

The worm of truth is gnawing at he evil fruit.

Soon we will outnumber the robots.

    And we will speak out.

And they will have to crucify ALL of us.

And they will turn to their leader and say: “O Great One, what shall we do? All the parishioners are gone. The church is no more.”

And he will say: “YOU did this, you stupid, incompetent f**ks!”

And he will retire to his bunker with a handful of loyal robots and try to find solace in counting his loot.

And then, one day, maybe on March 13, the Hand of Justice will knock on his door.

“This is the police. Drop your copper rods and come out with your hands over your heads!”

And he will reach for the gold and diamond Colt that Tom gave him for his birthday last year…

And he will squeeze the trigger.

And the Colt will jam. Click.

And his robots will suddenly snap out of it and realize that the Great One is so stupid that he can’t even shoot himself.

And a year later, after the Great One’s trial, where he is sentenced to life for the murder of Lisa McPherson, the new Paul Haggis movie, “The Cult” will be nominated for ten Academy Awards.

It will win five: best movie, best director, best original screenplay, best music (Beck) and best actor (Steve Carell as “The Great One”).

    A perfect Hollywood ending.

As to the church, what will become of it?

    Only time will tell…

  151. Ted,
I’m not sure about “absolutely” but I mean, you DO have a pig that you take in your boat :-).

I’m studying the 9th ACC which explains in detail Dianetics 55. The absence of an answer can stir up all sorts of stuff, all sorts of earlier similars. I think that may apply here.

  152. Not a 25 yr old GF – more likely, a 25 yr old BF.

    Sorry, couldn’t resist!

  153. Absolutley got you, Windhorse.

So many prophets and wise man tried to explain this concept of eternal truth but it is not possible to communicate it:

Any space, energy, form, object, individual or physical universe condition can exist only when an alteration has occurred of the original as-isness so as to prevent a casual view from vanishing it. In other words, anything which is persisting must contain a “lie” so that the original consideration is not completely duplicated.

Thats why the “concept” can’t be grasped in such a way that it could be well communicated. And this concept isn’t even physical (mest) which makes it much harder to grasp.

Any religious, theological, philosophical teaching is an alteration of the original concept. That’s why we have so many different “schools” in Buddhism, so many Christian branches and other religions.

The only thruth there is, is the truth we find ourself.
I am not a religious man. No more.
Not in the meaning of the word as it is used today.
I do like all religions and viewpoints. I talk to people of all religions about their beliefs. And this is an interesting journey.
Scientology is a helpful tool on the way to truth. Without it I wouldn’t have started yet. 🙂

  154. Let`s review:

Debbie sends an email to her list of friends. Email is considered to be a private messaging system. Her message was to CHURCH Scientologists in good standing. Had it been otherwise, she would have posted on a public website. She obviously knows how to set up a website and post to it.

The email was given to the media by someone. She did not give the email to the media. She is prosecuted by the Church. I do not think that she ever intended to go public via media and this blog and other media outlets.

Even as she accepts assistance from the Independent field, she publicly states that she is a Scientologist and that she subscribes to the philosophy, policy and aims of Scientology. She does not indicate a disagreement with the existence of the Sea Org. She does not indicate any interest in the total destruction of the Church. She indicates she wants to follow LRH policy. She is VERY upfront about it. The donors were given a head`s up as to her intentions. LRH policy is very clear even early on as regards to speaking ill about the Church or Scientology.

I`ve carefully read the articles about the settlement. There is no statement to the effect that she has been given money. That is pure speculation.

Did she do what SHE intended to do is the question here. Others jumped aboard with their own intentions and the Church stupidly acted in ways that forced her into acting against the Church, something she publicly stated she did not want to do.

  155. Yesterday I was unhappy about Debbie’s settlement. Today, well, is a new day and time to get on with it. In closing this out for myself, I can’t help but wonder if her escapade of 3 1/2 months, wasn’t entirely self serving. Time will tell.

  156. Sorry, I used a quote and it wasn’t empfasized.
    Here comes it again:

“Any space, energy, form, object, individual or physical universe condition can exist only when an alteration has occurred of the original as-isness so as to prevent a casual view from vanishing it. In other words, anything which is persisting must contain a “lie” so that the original consideration is not completely duplicated. ”

  157. The same old LDW

    Hey Jim,
Can’t wait to have a comm cycle with ya at the indy convention on it. This is absolutely the most friggin incredible, liberating, empowering, kick-butt auditing I’ve ever done. Just wish I were a little better at turning off that pesky persistent F/N so I could get some more done. Been off for four days now and I just can’t stop laughing.

    See you again soon.

  158. I’d like to think that Debbie still has her integrity, and has simply chosen a completely radical move in this deadly chess game with Miscavige. Something like taking his money, then using it to further expose him and his criminal enterprise. I’d like to think that, but I don’t know that I can, given the facts on the ground.

  159. 🙂 Perfect Haydn.

  160. Amen! I agree!

  161. The same old LDW

Debbie obviously knows something about the finances of the church and the copyrights that she is not bound to keep silent on if compelled by a subpoena to testify about. Hummmmm…wonder what she knows.
Wonder what will happen next time dm tries to take someone to court where info on these issues is relevant. Wonder just how much her actions have aided the cause of neutering dm’s ability to prosecute anyone for anything. Verrrrrry interesting.

  162. +10000000 😀

  163. The same old LDW

Great discourse Hayden. Each of us needs to assume the status of full source and cause of our actions or inactions and quit blaming any “leader” for one’s owns decisions or failures (or successes for that matter).
Each independent scientologist is the ruler of his own kingdom and we work together freely as we agree to work together.
We don’t need no stinkin followers…we each need to lead our own dynamics.
There’s a tremendous amount of room for co-operative action. But it’s just got to be from a level of personal responsibility.

  164. Love the George! Yep. I see much bigger and better things happening because of this. Yep, I sure do.

  165. The same old LDW

Marty, do I have this straight? That all of the players can sit down and hammer out an agreement and settle up, but the court statement says something entirely different that what was actually settled behind closed doors?

  166. Same here, I agree.

  167. FCDC Class of 74

My mother used to yell after my brothers and I to keep our clean clothes clean, but how does one play ball and stay clean? We certainly were not going to play in our scivies. This goes to the donation of monies. The monies I sent were clean when it left and for what ever purpose it was to be used even if it turned into dirty money, thats the nature of the game and we have to live with the conditions.

  168. Haydn, this is exactly what I thought – you of course stated it so well. Debbie and Wayne weren’t going to handle this for us and I never looked to them to do so. They dealt a damned good, harsh and deep blow though. Good on them. They’ll have to figure out their eternity too, just like I do.

  169. martyrathbun09

I am sure it is not “entirely” different. Just that thang about who zoomed whom monetarily. In either event, the little thang makes it fraudulent in my view.

  170. Agreed! Karma, the law of attraction, whatever you want to call it… Good advice, the Oracle.

  171. martyrathbun09

She knows very little that is of much use that is not already on the public record. Her value was her freshness and position – not the depth of knowledge.

  172. The very thing this started over, Debbie breaking her legal agreement with the CofS, is the very thing they couldn’t enforce. So how the hell can they do it now with another agreement. I’ll speculate that they can’t.

  173. Of course we all hoped that Debbie would go a whole 15 rounds, toe to toe in the legal arena against Miscavige and all he can buy. While that didn’t happen, I applaud her for what she did do. She sent her e-mail, she testified in court, she reached millions through the media. She got off a comfortable stool and hit Miscavige where it hurts and did damage that will never heal. Miscavige (and the little cult that he is running) grows weaker and weaker and will never recover.

Debbie pushed herself VERY hard for decades. I’ve known Debbie since the 80’s and when I saw the recent vidoes of her, I could see that she is mentally and physically worn. I can forgive her for taking the fight only so far.

Debbie isn’t the target. Miscavige is the target. It’s the responsibility of all of us to continue to shine the light of truth on his dark soul…..

  174. I’m trying not to be too judgmental, as not all the facts are known (yet). However, your question “will that decision buy peace?” made me think – I’m not sure that accepting money from a corrupt dictator in exchange for silence, or to get rid of a problem, and letting down your comrades in arms, is likely to improve health – at least, long term. We know that betrayals like that have a way of biting back, because of the basic goodness of the being. I sincerely hope this is not what happened here. I have, and many who participate here also have, a great deal of affinity for Debbie and Wayne. I want very much to believe it was not misplaced.

  175. THANK YOU RS for making me laugh, just as I was about to cry!

  176. Windhorse,
I urgently need help on fibromyalgia. Can you please contact me at bridgethegap555@hushmail.com.

  177. Kim, in this case it is very clear

  178. Ditto Jim and I’ll make it a point to get out there this summer.

  179. Publius, almost fell out of chair laughing at ur comment and actually you are probably right

  180. You go Les!!! Rock on!!

  181. Sam you are awesome! I love your post

  182. Bulletproof – Here is WTF simple – I can can take my GF to Europe for a month and I’m a great guy…right? The day after we arrive back I am cheating on her – instantly I am truly an asshole. Yes that quick and rightfully so – I am a betraying jerk

  183. Haydn – Thank you for this. Well said

  184. Fair enough. Still, a simple acknowledgment that a letter was received and an indication it will be replied to in future, would have completed comm cycle, show care and would have harmed no one. I was there as friend giving support. And yes, asking a difficult question, which seemed relevant. NOW, the only answer possible is within the bounds of her own self integrity…
And it does not look good, I am sorry. How can giving in to suppression benefit anyone or anything? On any dynamic? And it is full suppression, no mistake. It says “forever” in the Judgment…! Sad.

  185. Second you Tara

  186. Yes but she made the wrong decision and it made her previous position meaningless. It just showed DM to be right that the people complaining about him are just in it for the money. He paints this picture and Cook just went for it.

  187. Laughter!

  188. Its like Scientology inc. does what it always does: threats and intimidates if that doesn’t work bribe the others silence(I mean settle out of court). Once that happens they can say all former and new opponents are just telling lies and in it for the money.

I am not sure why the standard handling doesn’t work with Mike or Marty???

  189. Too funny ! Laughter!

  190. Folks: Cook was never one of the good guys. She didn’t speak out about crimes she witnessed, and in which she participated until her own behind was in the hole. She used the good offices of Marty and Mike and others who contributed just like the other poor saps she bilked out of their money at Flag. Now she got the payoff she always thought she should have gotten in return for the non disclosure agreement and her years of “service” to the criminal cult. All it required was the abandonment of her (presumed) ethics. And the well meaning contributors got the finger.

  191. Your humble servant

    Beautifully stated, Thetabop!

  193. Bert Schippers

Is this J. Ritson from WA state?

  194. Li'll bit of stuff

Yes, Debbie and Wayne and further, it definitely will NOT pay
you to simply ignore The Oracle’s advice. That would amount
to treason. Not – isness is merely palliative, so you are then
still haunted with “the problem.” To reiterate, figure a way.

Otherwise, after the initial “settlement” has settled, you may
find yourself feeling more indebted then before.

    THETA or MEST(cavige) as a future (soul)mate?

    Your choice!

  195. In hindsight maybe she did not give a shit about anyone and just did all this to get more money from DM! She sleeps at night knowing the other poor souls in the hole are experiencing what she experienced and she could have done something about it or at least had a chance to try! She could have helped the whole of Scientology but in the end her jan 1 email was all bullshit she did not put action to her supposed beliefs it was just used to get money from DM!

  196. Settlement agreements, normally, dictate what can, and what cannot be said in public about the settlement. A settlement agreement can, on the one hand, be so extreme as to prohibit both sides from saying anything in public, or on the other hand, the settlement agreement can actually be published widely. It depends upon, basically, what the parties to the settlement agreed upon.

There is no way to know what the parties agreed upon, and certainly the Tampa Bay Times has no idea, unless you actually read the settlement agreement itself.

And, people who are not parties to the settlement agreement can say anything they want about it, guess about it, characterize it, imagine what it said, assert they are sure it included a provision turning the Sun red, for example … speculation about what the settlement agreement said, or who paid who … is everyone’s right. Speculate away. Give it your best educated guess. Miscavige can’t sue you for guessing — AND unless the settlement agreement specifically forbids him from characterizing it in public, he can say what he wants about it. The only person who can complain, legally, about his violation of the settlement agreement … is Debbie Cook.

  197. I think she already got flat on this kind of verbal abuse while being stuffed in a trash can and slapped at Int.

  198. No.

  199. If I am understanding the published document correctly, it is not a “settlement agreement” as such. It is an “injunction” issued by the court on it’s own terms, but with the agreement of both parties. Presumably it was negotiated with the Judge behind closed doors with both parties present.

There maybe a separate “settlement agreement”, but we don’t even know that such exists, or under what circumstances it was negotiated, if it was negotiated.
