Declaration of Independence

Max Bleiweiss (aka VBMax)   Indie 500 #331         19 May 2012

The time has come to announce publically that I am no longer a member of the Church of Scientology and am joining the group of Independent Scientologists that follow the applied religious philosophy of L. Ron Hubbard. This was not a difficult decision to make; the only difficulties encountered were in communicating with “friends” and relatives. This, mostly, did not go well but I was prepared for any eventuality.

I’ve been a Scientologist since 1973 and first heard of it through a job ad in an L.A. newspaper. I had recently returned to the U.S. after 5 years overseas and needed work so I went down to the old L.A. Org near Alvarado St. for a job interview. The receptionist asked me to have a seat on the couch and I read through the “Scientology Picture Book” which was on the coffee table in front of me. I thought to myself, “This is really interesting!” Then, I was taken to view the LRH video interview with Tony Hitchman which also piqued my interest. Next, the Div 6 Reg enlightened me about the Comm Course (HAS) and I found myself on the course within a few minutes.

That fantastic, little $25 course blew my case to smithereens and made me a Scientologist for life!

And so it was that I entered into a staff contract after a few days with only a comm course under my belt. I won’t bore you with all the details of the insanities I witnessed and became part of while on staff there. Suffice it to say that it differed greatly from what I was learning in my staff hatting. And some of the crazy execs I encountered back then are still infamous to this day. But, as I said, I was a Scientologist for life so I soldiered on. I finished my contract in 1976 and this brings up a point in a recent Marty post about the Church’s running a “can’t have” on auditor training even back then. Part of the exchange for my employment was training to Class IV but there was no way I could get trained while doing my post since I was never studentable, worked day and night, even all-nighters and had to moonlight on the weekends just to pay rent in some downstat rooming house. So, I waited till I finished my contract to route on and start my Class IV training. But the Org didn’t allow it; they said it had to have been done during the contract time.

I spent the next couple of years as a public, was on the NED course at ASHO in 1979 and had the good fortune to be audited to Clear by my twin. We both went to a briefing about Superpower and were recruited into the SO to get personally trained by LRH as Superpower auditors. (Think about it, that was 33 years ago and still no Superpower.) Now, part of my think about joining the SO was that it was LRH’s Org, so naturally very sane and ethical. Oops…. It turned out to be just as nutty as my L.A. Org experience if not more so. I never did get to go uplines for that promised auditor training but the good news is I did get the HKTL training and applied it as the HKTL Pilot I/C and Sup from 1980-1983 at NWCI.

I also had various misadventures including some squirrel ethics and justice applied to me. I finally wound up on the PAC RPF in 1983 with a bunch of other really upstat staff members. In 1985, I was fitness boarded out of the SO for medical reasons; during one of my “ethics handlings” (the Running Program pilot), I’d turned on some serious health problems that still exist to this day.  So I was a public once again.

Like so many others, I have spent a lot of time and money since, trying to get up the Bridge, but it’s been 10 years since my last services. In 2002 I came to Flag for OTVI & VII after selling my house in L.A. and buying the package with the proceeds.  I was one of the people on a list that was compiled for a program to produce 10,000 NOTS auditors.  I felt like I was doing my duty to make it to Flag as part of the program, and in fact I arrived on precisely my target date.  However, those last services at Flag were a dog’s breakfast and I just wasn’t willing to continue any longer. It included invalidation of Clear, attempting to run Dianetics on me and a demand for additional, unnecessary sec checking by RTC after the Flag C/S had OKed me to attest.

At that time I had no idea how bad things actually were. It wasn’t until the Debbie Cook cycle that I found out how bad. In fact if it were not for a teaser on TV about an upcoming Debbie Cook interview I would probably still be in blinders. The rest is of course history, I did my due diligence, followed the trial, found “Friends of LRH” and other significant links. I never dreamed that I would ever go to a website titled “” but that one turned out to be a very important one, as well as this one. In fact, the day I decided to leave the Church was the day I found Marty’s blog which was also the day of Ronnie Bell’s great declaration writeup. I was, as I put it then, in anguish at what I had found and didn’t want to believe it but it had to be confronted. And confront it I have, and I’ve come through it with flying colors thanks to all of you independents out there. You gave me back my hope when it all looked so hopeless. And now I’m a part of the team, the team I always wanted to be on to begin with.  So, all you LRH Independents are my new friends.

I’m especially grateful to those Independents who blazed the trail for me so it became safe to go into the water.

And special thanks to Marty for putting the site here where we are free to communicate. (And blow tons of charge while doing so!)

So, Marty I believe I’ve earned my invitation to the party.

  1. Welcome Max,
And yes, I believe you have more than earned an invitation to the party. I was “in” from 1971 to 2005 and OT V.

  2. Max,
Great write up. Welcome and you have made the right choice. Pat yourself on the back for being under the 500 mark on the Indie 500. The walls will be crumbling down soon.

  3. Great news. Welcome.

  4. Max,

Welcome to the light brother! I do believe you’ve earned your invitation as well.

And now you’re a card carrying member – if we had cards!

  5. BTW Max, I am Indie # 285. We need others to sign up. This would be a good time for others to sign up. Right?

As a very influential original founder of the US once said: “We must, indeed, all hang together, or assuredly we shall all hang separately.” Benjamin Franklin

Hanging is not as bad a the illegal policy of disconnection inflicted by David Miscavige (And, as is well known, LRH cancelled this policy and DM re-instituted it to help cover up his Ponzi scheme). Well, it might be hard to do, but that’s life.

Any new Indie 500 members can sign up at:

You are only one click away from being part of history.

Welcome Max! So, so glad to see you here. Rachel

  7. Welcome Max! Great to have you here with us.
You have done a wonderful, brave and intelligent thing and you have my support 100%.

  8. Max — Welcome! I remember you and your wife from the NWC days. Glad to see you found your way home. And hope to see you in July.

  9. Defender of Theta

    Welcome, Max!

It is great to see a veteran. Say what we will about any craziness in the 1970s, it was pure sanity compaired to after the tyrant (David Miscavige) took over.

Previouisly, there would be bouts of craziness, then it would be cool. After Miscavige took over, it was institutionalized abuse.

  10. Ronnie Bell

Welcome out, Max. As someone whose track in Scientology began in the same time and place as yours, I’m delighted that I could be there for you on the day you made your decision to stand firmly with LRH and Standard Tech.

Like you, I didn’t have all of the jigsaw pieces to the puzzle, until Debbie Cook’s email led me here, and to Steve Hall’s site. On that first day, I went 24 hours straight, reading everything I could lay my hands on. By day two, there was no question that I needed to make a public stand, and I did so, just as soon as I could get it written up.

Many thanks for stepping into the light and speaking the truth. You’ve made it easier for the next fellow to do the same. Kudos!

  11. Hi Max, I was lucky enough to get to know you and your wife in our PAC days; you were always friendly and helpful. We were all so busy back then that it was difficult to get to know other staff. Hope to talk with you and to get to know you better now.

  12. Tony Dephillips

    Hi Max-
You were very A to B. Glad to have you in the group.

  13. Mark Plummer

Congratulations, Max! I hope Maggie and Alan follow your lead. And soon!

  14. Li'll bit of stuff

Max, you did it, man. BIG, BIG WELCOME!! Sure makes you
you an invited guest into the sunshine of the Independents.
Thanks, also for sharing your wonderful personal story and
journey on May 13, Mothers Day, and now, rounding off
    with this bold announcement.
The whole process is truly cathartic, and I can guess, what this will do for your certainty and re-orientation, as a causative being,
as it has done, for me.

Welcome back to ” the promised land” party’s just getting started.
    Enjoy the fun, Max.

Lots’a Luv, ARC, & other mushy sfuff,

  15. Li'll bit of stuff

Horses, mate, HORSES!……… WER’E the cavalry now !!!!

  16. Felicitas Foster

Thanks for sharing your story. Welcome to the true Scientology!

  17. Welcome, Max. I remember you from the old NWC pilot days with the stick figure KTL drawings.

  18. Richard Royce

Welcome Max! Your story about the training betrayal really pisses me off! What a fraud! Can’t get the promised training while on staff because of staff sechedule and then when you finish your part of the agreement you weren’t given your exchange! That’s criminal.

On the brighter side, reading your declaration hit home to me what a blow to the corrupt CO$ it is when someone like you leaves. An enormous effort was expended cultivating you over the years to become the money source you became. You leave suddenly and there is no replacement. How long will it take to cultivate another equal money source? Especially since the dissemination stats have dwindled to just about nothing due to the lousy PR David Miscavage has created for the Church to say nothing about the gross failure of the idle orgs!

  19. Good on you Max. Apparently you’ve decided what you ought to earn and now you’re earning it. Welcome to freedom.

  20. The Oracle

Max, Thank you for your hope, your persistence, being you, your help, your awakening, and all of the promise that means for the future unfolding before us.

  21. Nice work Max! Totally agree you have earned your invitation. Now, would you want others to have the knowledge you now have?

  22. Thank you for confronting the scene, Max. Great write-up!

  23. The Oracle

  24. Welcome and thank you for sharing your story .

  25. VWD Max ! Thank you to share your story with your new friends ! Welcome to the “party” ! 😉

  26. Theo Sismanides

Hi Max and welcome! It makes my day to see more OTs join the club, hehe! OTs do best with OTs, right?

I have been a Sea Org member for 9 years and I was declared for insisting on the application of LRH HCOBs on Translations (see Translation Series HCOBs) which were never applied by Miscavige for obvious reasons.

A disaster all around the planet and a great delay in disseminating LRH technology around the world.

    30 years have been lost.

LRH wrote in one of his REDs (LRH EDs), I think it is No 5, that the Why for EU was the non application of the Translation Series. He even wrote a CBO (Central Bureau Order? not quite sure about the title of that special bulletin) where there is an extended description of what he meant to do with the translation and those were orders briefing a Mission going to Copenhagen to put in the Translation Tech. Amazing stuff! One day we will all be in the know how Miscavige has undermined the global dissemination of Scientology by not applying the very Tech LRH put there for the world in order for the non english speaking people to avail of the Tech.

You can google Theo Sismanides, my name, and read my 3 write ups from 2000 in the Freezone.

Again congratulations for taking your decision and we are so happy to see you here.

  27. Max my experience in Scientology is almost exactly the same as yours.
I found this blog a few months ago and now I read it every day.
I ‘d like to say I found Mike Rinder’s post of Feb 6 2010 “The Real Third Party” last night. Mike that is absolutely the best eval I ever read! VWD!
    And VWD to you Max!

  28. Ed Paulson

    Welcome home, Max!

  29. Good for you Max. Spread the word. Send the link on the Debbie Cook Inverview and other eye-openers to your whole contact list. It worked for you and can work for them. Turn on the lights.

  30. Hi Max! I’m happy for you! You own your own future now!

  31. Welcome Max, best of luck with your quest for freedom.

  32. Hey Max, welcome to the Independents!

Ouch, on selling your house and going to FLAG! My dad did a similar thing, selling his to go do the Briefing Course, two weeks later he joined the SO. Soon he was reassured that the SO would train him and he transfered his package to the book account. He never did do the BC.

But, I am so happy to hear of your recent Scientology education and rehabilitation!

It reminded me of the importance of people doing the full doubt formula and announcing it publically. It really is all about TR3. Truth as-ises. Given a short amount of time to confront the truth, it is easy to see how off the rails the church has become. And, I’ll bet you did that all on your own, that you didn’t need anyone there to get you to reconsider, to tell you you are giving away your eternity, that your friends and family won’t talk to you (we all heard that disconnection doesn’t exist)…but I’ll bet that those still drinking the koolaid sure tried. I can clearly picture the scene…a gradual revelation and calmness followed by desperate, chaotic measures to convince you that your observations are wrong. Glad that truth revitalized enough theta for you to make it through the gauntlet!

Honestly, when you’re exterior to the church, it is very apparant how aberated it has become. The word “Scientology” quickly brings to mind what a bunch of wacko zealots there are…in that cult. The more the “church” is disassociated with the subject Scientology, the greater possibility there is that the name Scientology will be remembered by its successful technology. I had the same reaction as you to Scientology-cult website. But, I couldn’t believe all of the very detailed (time, place, form and event) truth that came from that site! So, you know that your confront is coming up when you can take the plunge and click “enter” into that site!

I still chuckle at my initial fear of going on the internet to look at “unofficial” sites to find the truth. My plunge took place in 2009 when the Truth Rundown came out and I had friends and family originating concern…so I went on the site to properly educate myself so that I could dead agent my family…and I found the truth, just not in the direction that I thought it was going to be. Can anyone say FREEDOM?

  33. VWD and welcome, Max! Feels great to have found the right place, doesn’t it? (AGAIN, that is.)

  34. Hi Max,
Great to read your story and see you out in the light of day!
Enjoy your newly won freedom and I look forward to your continued contributions to this blog…

  35. TroubleShooter

Great write up. Looking forward to meeting you! Max(imum)!!!

  36. Jean-François Genest

    Fantastic! Congratulations!
Interesting story. Sorry you had to endure the insanity on the RPF and at Flag (Flag & RTC seem to be delivering a mental RPF for OTs to the publics)
We need to bring back and deliver that famous Comm Course AS-IT-WAS-THEN for sure.

  37. You’re right Robert and fence sitting is very unhealthy on such a critical issue. One’s own personal integrity is at stake.

  38. Thanks Penny, I definitely wanted to be on that 500 list as soon as I could.

  39. Calvin, I told you it wouldn’t be long. By the way, my son-in-law and his whole family are from South Africa. Drop me a line, if you will.

  40. Thanks Rachel, glad to see you here as well.

  41. Thanks Lana. By the way, I don’t think I did anything especially “brave”.
    Intelligent, yes. 🙂

  42. Thanks Mike, you are one of the ones I was referring to in my writeup “with a bunch of other really upstat staff members.” Hope to see you in July as well.

  43. oldauditor

    Hi Max, welcome to freedom!
It doesn’t matter how long it took to wake up, it’s what you do here and now that matters. I was in for 30years before I realized I was supporting a cult.

I hope you find a way to put your training to use as there are thousands of pcs who have been abused and abandoned by the church. I audit seven days a week now, but there is no way I and the other field practitioners can put a dent in the backlog of pcs who need help.

We need every able bodied auditor to pitch in and set up a practice of some sort. There are lots of experienced people who will help.

Let me know if there is anything I can do to assist you.
    David St Lawrence –

  44. Ronnie, that was one awesome writeup you laid out there. Should be required reading 🙂

  45. Hey Dan, you were one of the nicest guys I knew back then. In fact, I tried to contact you through Facebook a few days ago but didn’t get anything back. I’ve been researching Ecuador for a couple of years and have been wanting to visit. But, the most important question is, who’s the babe in the picture with you? 🙂

  46. Thanks Tony, have enjoyed your posts over the weeks.

  47. Mark, I considered them to be my closest friends. Maggie is doing a “good roads, good weather with me but Alan chose to do “righteous indignation” instead and totally cut the line. By the way, they came to visit with Ben some time ago. Seems like he was doing quite well, had just gotten out of the Air Force, I believe.

  48. Calvin, you sure are a mushy guy. 🙂

  49. miscavigeisscaredofsam

More thetans coming out to play! Love it! 😀 xxx

  50. Thanks Dan, yeah those days were fun for a while.

  51. Thanks Richard, I’ve enjoyed getting to know you on this blog.

  52. You betcha!

  53. I apologize for not acking every single post individually. I am reading them all and you all deserve one. So ,Thanks!

  54. Thank you David, I read your website on a regular basis and find it to be more than helpful.

  55. T.O. you have written some incredible posts that I have read with great pleasure 🙂

  56. Yes Sam, this is turning out to be a great game, isn’t it!

  57. Scott, I will gladly trade the card I’d been carrying for the new one 🙂

  58. Ziba Feulner

Great write-up, Max and welcome into the sunshine!!! 🙂

  59. I just inherited a “horse” yesterday.

  60. E.J. Croughs

    Go girl, go!

  61. Max… send me a message and I will fix that. Sometimes I miss stuff on facebook and I don’t mean to. Would love to host your visit.

The babe in the picture? When I first came to Ecuador, I was in my 30’s (it was while I was on a 3 week leave) and I was kayaking the Amazon. At one point, near the border with Brazil, I encountered this young Indian girl in the river, swimming strongly, but appearing very frantic.

    She was surrounded by crocodiles!

I expertly threw a 12″ knife to her and she caught it by the shaft… I watched in amazement as she killed and then filleted the biggest character while treading water! All within minutes. Amazing strength!

The other surrounding crocs were also impressed: in fear for their lives they raced to the shore.

I picked her up in my kayak and brought her safely to shore. I was surprised that, instantly, a festival and ceremonies began around us.

Seems that she was the daughter of the local chief. Other villagers had witnessed what occurred and I was credited with saving her life!

You can guess what happened next… you’ve seen the same thing in a dozen movies… it was insisted that I marry the girl, and that it was no good to say “no”; to do so would have been a major offense. I was counseled to go through with it by a Christian missionary who had been working in the area for years. She claimed if I were to refuse all the missionaries would likely be executed.

So, although there is a longer story to be told, I went through with it!

Took some explaining when I got home and went back on post, but, I managed! (Great testament to Tone 40 and TRs…)

This is, perhaps, not the correct forum to go into the rest of the details… briefly, in the remaining days of my leave I learned the dialect of the region well enough to explain to my new wife and the chief the basics of Scientology and what my post was and how important it was for me to return.

How we got back together? We’ll talk about that person to person or personal message. Basically my good looks and derring-do got her in the first place and my ongoing charm has kept her seduced…

  62. Merci beaucoup, mon ami.

  63. Rory Medford

Max it feels good to take a million pound gorilla off of your back, doesn’t it?
Others will follow your lead because the C of S will take every last penny you have including your heart and soul. Its a gutless organization with a bunch of cowards running the show especially at the top. Many have left and many are following to join the Indie movement which has the purity of SCN at its core. Anyone reading this who is on the fence jump over and run for the hills if you want to salvage any of your savings as well as your integrity and your heart and soul.

Jump baby jump its very liberating and life DOES get better, a 1000% better. So what are you waiting for? another reg to empty your pockets or another ethics officer to tell you how wrong and bad you are? Get the hell out you owe it to yourself and just maybe just maybe a light bulb might go off for your friends and family to jump ship as well. Remember who called everyone stupid? The blind leading the blind? I will give you one guess

  64. Rory Medford

Insouciance baby, INSOUCIANCE!!! Lets have the spirit of play and seize the day. Remember this is one big game and make the game yours not some nut job or sociopath.

  65. Your humble servant

Thanks for the excellent writeup, Max. I had written you a nice, long post in response but inadvertently closed the window and it was lost. That’s not the first time I have done that. Has anyone else?

Anyway, much shorter, which is maybe better, I am sorry that you had a tough time giving your all trying forward yourself and the dynamics in the official Church of Scientology. It was tough all around and craziness abounded. Still, I hope we are all better for it in the aggregate.

In the early days it was not uncommon for orgs to abuse staff and public, supposedly justified by their high purpose. I guess it is even much more common today under the insane leadership of David Miscavige. In fact, I am sure it is. Back in the 90’s ASHO took many thousands of dollars from Raymond Peace, now deceased, for the briefing course and then told him he couldn’t take it because he was an illegal pc and the course involved auditing. Never crossed their minds to refund the money. When he later asked them to refund it they thought about it and then said, sorry, no.

  66. Welcome home Max, I remember you from the 80’s at NWC Int. You will find it quite nice over here.

  67. Welcome to the Indies Max. Well done on really looking and confronting. Your name seems familiar to me, from decades ago.

  68. yvonneschick

Dear Max, Congratulations and welcome to your new group. Your announcement was very direct and impactful. Just as Ronnie’s announcement helped you see the light, today you will help someone else. Your new freedoms will continue to roll out and you will definitely enjoy. Who knows, you may even shake that long standing health problem.
    Much love, Yvonne

  69. Theo, I’ve been following your postings and am well aware of your attempts to keep KSW in. Thank you for doing so.

  70. Thanks Karen, as I expressed in my writeup, this was not a difficult decision. Once you’ve “informed yourself honestly” there’s only one direction to go.
The timing of my declaration was the main thing I had to consider since it involved another’s welfare.

  71. So glad to hear this Max! I did KTL as a pilot so saw you around quite a bit. Nice to see old friends like you turn up here.

  72. It never ceases to delight, to read success stories. Thanks for sharing your success Max!

  73. Wonderful Max!

  74. Congratulations! You’re half-way there….

  75. Welcome Max!

Marty, it’s been said before but it bears repeating. You are really blowing a lot of charge here on the third dynamic… keep up the good work my friend.

  76. Welcome Max and good doubt announcement. We were on OTVI-A about the same time. Your face is familiar. Maybe we will share some war stories at the Indie gathering. Hope to see you there. Glad you have seen the light and had the courage to act on your perceptions. Everyone left inside Co$ is either PTS or SP. Who would want to be part of that group? It is a squirrel cage or a rat’s maze. Take your pick… but it guarantees no chance of a spiritually free eternity.
You are now free to roam about the spiritual universe. 🙂

  77. Hi, Max! Thank you for your write-up. It’s wonderful to have another indie — welcome!

  78. Li'll bit of stuff

Over-the-top mushiness, they tell me, Max! XXX

  79. Li'll bit of stuff

    Sure will do Max

  80. Dan, I knew it had to be something like that! I’ll be in comm with you soon.

  81. Rory, you are telling it exactly like it is.

  82. Hi Max, its always gut wrenching to hear of yet another upstanding Scientologist and former SO member so betrayed. But on the other hand, I see your photograph and read your declaration and I know you are undefeated, and strong and flourishing in spite of it all! Your integrity is what counts! Good for you a gazillion times over. The RCS’ loss is the Indies’ gain. VWD on your decision – and may you continue to flourish and prosper! True also, that Marty has created a kind of Virtual Org for Real Scientologists!

  83. Luis Garcia

Welcome home, Max. I too went to Flag in 2002 to do OT VI and VII. I know what you mean about the “dog’s breakfast.” I pushed through and ended up eating a dog’s lunch and dinner as well. But all is well now having reoriented myself with the truth of it all. And I have many true friends now, not like the 20+ year “friends” who disconnected from me without as much as a “good-bye.”

Great to have you here buddy.

  84. Thanks Yvonne, you know I haven’t had this much attention since my Bar Mitzvah. Maybe I should do this more often 🙂

  85. TheWidowDenk

Dan — With all due respect for you and your comment, are you pulling our leg(s)? Rachel

  86. TheWidowDenk

“You are now free to roam about the spiritual universe.”

    Excellent !! Rachel

  87. TheWidowDenk

When I put up my statement, I got many comments as well. I shot Marty a private email that implored him to put up a new topic so I could take a response break. He said, “Not yet …”.

Go with the flow Max. It only gets better. L, Rachel

  88. Welcome!! And congratulations!

  89. Ronnie Bell

Heh….now that’s the sort of spirit of play that used to be rampant in Scientology. It’s a very good indicator to see it again.

Thanks for the Sunday morning grins 🙂

  90. Hello Max! Nice to meet ya. Glad you’re here. The spell has been broken!

  91. From what I have gathered just by following the story … that source of income has been superceded via return on investment of the Sea Org reserve accounts. All that DM has to do is maintain a facade. I get the idea that he really hates people and wants to phase them out as much as possible and is doing a fine job of that.

  92. And as you can see by my picture, I am feeling better already!

  93. You have arrived Max!
Thank you and VWD for an excellent, to the point write up.
Your name sounds so familiar, our paths must have crossed in PAC or CCI somewhere…..I was last in the Universe Corps.
Yes, the focus is on getting everybody who is still stuck going again.
    I’ll send you an email.

  94. Welcome, Max, to the Independent field, also known as free zone or freezone. I may have seen you in the 70’s —
I’m currently named Patricia Krenik and my husband and I deliver the entire bridge (but not Super Power or the L’s) in Elma, WA.
Did you know Rey Robles? He trained on Super Power about the same time as you.
    Best, Pat Krenik,

  95. The same old LDW

Thanks for calling it the way you see it, Max. And thanks for publishing what you see.
More and more people still stuck in a maybe are looking on the internet for answers and your honest comm is going to help at least a few of them to wake up.
More and more people are just beginning to take a quick peek at what is being said about dave and his overts. The more folks who have expressed their observations in writing, the more “R” is conveyed to up the ARC and understanding.

I really hope you can make the Indy convention. We’ll be there.

    Les Warren

  96. Dan,
What a wonderful adventure of a “day in the life”. Congratulations on the escapade and the reward 🙂

  97. Keep your eye on the goals Max. Study, audit, keep at it. Nice to see you 🙂

  98. Bert Schippers

Hello Max, Thanks for your declaration and welcome to freedom!

  99. YHS, thank you. Someone once said, “Never regret yesterday, life is in you today and you make your own tomorrow”. I think I’ll apply that 🙂

  100. Gary Morehead. Aka Jackson

Welcome!! Geeze it’s been years since we last saw one another!

You were my KTL sup @ NWC. I was twinned with Julie Johnston – now Moresi, in fact I also did my student hat under you in the KTL crse room cuz a draft was eminent then and pre-req to the ministers course I HAD to do. I was CMO PAC EPF at the time. Boy people I remember… – Peter & Judy Speaker, Worstels, Belins, Carolyn Buri, Ron Hartwell who by the way fell 3 stories while washing the GO windows up above what is now the canteen entrance. George Smith had hoisted him up there by hand and couldn’t hold him any longer, rope slipped through his hand with severe rope burn to boot. I will never forget the thuds Ron had on the way down and at the bottom.

Wow Max you brought back some memories boy!! Oh yes… I did the SRD at NWC too.

Having said all that, I hope you remember me. One never for gets their first real supervisor. And how can one forget that studly beard you had back then. Every time I see THE MOST INTERESTING MAN — Dosques (sp?) beer commercial he reminds me of you!

Welcome Max!! Welcome! Weren’t you married to Nancy??

    — Jackson

  101. Welcome, Max. You and I got in the same year and were both blown away by the $25 HAS course! You can see the story of me and my husband among the earlier posts here. Enter Lynne Hoverson and Bert Schippers in the search box. Looking forward to seeing you at the Indie Picnic!

  102. And by the way Rory, if you scroll up to my photo, you’ll see that the gorilla has turned into a small monkey and is no longer on my back, but is hiding behind my left shoulder now. 🙂

  103. Willet Chambers

Thanks for writing your story, Max. It NEVER gets old hearing about another Scientologist who has woken up to what has happened to the Church via DM. You certainly deserve that invitation!!
Also, is anyone else having trouble accessing the Friends of LRH website from Marty’s link above, or just on its own? It’s been a great website for me and Max’s write-up reminded me of it. I can’t seem to access it for some reason…any feedback would help, Thanks!

  104. Thanks Pat, I’ve been to your website several times over the last few weeks so I know what great work you’re doing over there. I don’t think I know Ray. I never did get the training on Superpower.

  105. miscavigeisscaredofsam

No offense ‘Calvin Bernard Duffield’ but do you have a photograph of yourself or your wife? You see I googled you and all the names you provided and couldn’t find any mention of you. Would be lovely to see what you look like.

  106. Jim, I hope I’m not insulting anyone else here, but I’ve got to say that you have become my stable terminal for knowing where standard tech is to be found. I just finished your article about F/Ns with all the LRH quotes and refs
a few days ago. You da man!

  107. Hi Max and welcome, I remember you from NWC WUS in ’82…the best Sup I’d ever seen!.

  108. Li'll bit of stuff

Nice one Scott! Sure it’s going to be put to good use!

  109. Marina e Umberto

Max, you are welcome in the independent field!!!
    A greeting from Italy!

  110. Ronnie Bell

No problem accessing Friends of LRH on this end.

  111. Dos Equis – “Two Horses” beer.

  112. Defender of Theta

    OK, Dan
Some question has been raised. Please confirm that the story is true (I hope so!). A classic Spielberg tale.

  113. “The real third party” by Mike Rinder almost 2 1/2 years ago… it’s worth re-reading. It looks like it was written yesterday because truth is timeless.

  114. “Dan” commented about an ealier post… It’s worth repeating here:

“The real third party” by Mike Rinder almost 2 1/2 years ago… it’s worth re-reading. It looks like it was written yesterday because truth is timeless.

  115. Defender of Theta

Max, glad to hear of your HAS win.

That $25 HAS course was a huge reason Scientology boomed in the late sixties and 1970s.
The other one: LRH personally taught the BC in the 60’s and pulled in/made REAL AUDITORS.

Those people went out and set up missions, and spread the Tech like wild fire. People LOVE real auditors. People want to BE LIKE real auditors.

It reminds me of something some an old Franchise Holders. He said, “When the public hears a lecturer, their question is, “Would I like to be (have the beingness of) the lecturer?” If the answer is “Yes,” they sign up.

If the general public hears David Miscavige, how many want to be like him, other than a few sociopaths, sharing similar world-domination goals? Likely, none. Because, Miscavige’s personality is the opposite of the upper part of the Chart of Human Evaluation – smug, arrogant, self-centered, as opposed to Granting of Beingness.

  116. Sam, I think you still have amazing radar for these things and generally I let others do the investigating but this one keeps coming up. I am a bit curious myself as I searched the Scientology completion data base for the names he has given, variations of them and possible nicknames and only came up with one match on the last name…it was a female.

I also searched a bunch of random names of people who have come out publicly on this blog and all but one of them was on that site. I feel fairly confident that that person is a legit independent. So, there is a chance in a million that Calvin just isn’t listed there. In my quick search I selected people who had been SO only, public only, old timer and newbie as well as combinations thereof and on all continents.

It is a shame that we have to think of things like this but spies have no integrity and I have seen what lengths DM will go to when it comes to people leaving the church and even more so, those who have left Int. I’m sure Mr Fisher can elaborate.

So, Lil Bit, care to add anything?

  117. Tack så mycket!

  118. Thanks and totally my pleasure.

  119. My pleasure and thank you!

  120. Thanks!

  121. You got it!

  122. Thanks Laura Ann!

  123. Thanks Sherb!

  124. Alex Castillo

Well Done and welcome Max. You have escaped a kingdom of evil, but you have also joined an army of light which is engaged in battle against the Darkness of David Miscavige’s criminal empire.

I give you Lord Tennyson’s words to further encourage you to continue on the path you are on now.

I am fond of Tennyson’s poems and I thought this one was appropriate to the subject:

It little profits that an idle king,
By this still hearth, among these barren crags,
Matched with an aged wife, I mete and dole
Unequal laws unto a savage race,
That hoard, and sleep, and feed, and know not me.

I cannot rest from travel: I will drink
Life to the lees: all times I have enjoyed
Greatly, have suffered greatly, both with those
That loved me, and alone; on shore, and when
Through scudding drifts the rainy Hyades
    Vext the dim sea: I am become a name;
For always roaming with a hungry heart
Much have I seen and known; cities of men
    And manners, climates, councils, governments,
    Myself not least, but honoured of them all;
    And drunk delight of battle with my peers;
Far on the ringing plains of windy Troy.
    I am part of all that I have met;
Yet all experience is an arch wherethrough
Gleams that untravelled world, whose margin fades
For ever and for ever when I move.
How dull it is to pause, to make an end,
To rust unburnished, not to shine in use!
As though to breath were life. Life piled on life
Were all to little, and of one to me
Little remains: but every hour is saved
From that eternal silence, something more,
A bringer of new things; and vile it were
For some three suns to store and hoard myself,
And this gray spirit yearning in desire
To follow knowledge like a sinking star,
Beyond the utmost bound of human thought.

This is my son, mine own Telemachus,
To whom I leave the scepter and the isle
Well-loved of me, discerning to fulfill
This labour, by slow prudence to make mild
A rugged people, and through soft degrees
Subdue them to the useful and the good.
Most blameless is he, centered in the sphere
Of common duties, decent not to fail
In offices of tenderness, and pay
Meet adoration to my household gods,
When I am gone. He works his work, I mine.

There lies the port; the vessel puffs her sail:
There gloom the dark broad seas. My mariners,
Souls that have toiled, and wrought, and thought with me
That ever with a frolic welcome took
The thunder and the sunshine, and opposed
    Free hearts, free foreheads you and I are old;
    Old age had yet his honour and his toil;
Death closes all: but something ere the end,
Some work of noble note, may yet be done,
Not unbecoming men that strove with Gods.
The lights begin to twinkle from the rocks:
The long day wanes: the slow moon climbs: the deep
Moans round with many voices. Come, my friends,
‘Tis not too late to seek a newer world.
Push off, and sitting well in order smite
The sounding furrows; for my purpose holds
To sail beyond the sunset, and the baths
Of all the western stars, until I die.
It may be that the gulfs will wash us down:
It may be we shall touch the Happy Isles,
And see the great Achilles, whom we knew.
Though much is taken, much abides; and though
We are not now that strength which in the old days
Moved earth and heaven; that which we are, we are,
    One equal-temper of heroic hearts,
Made weak by time and fate, but strong in will
To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield.

    Alfred Lord Tennyson

  125. Thanks Russ, it does feel great!

  126. Thanks Vic!

    Plus 1!

  128. Thanks TS!

  129. Merci JF, Yes that Comm Course needs to come back.

  130. Thanks Mike, I knew it would be great here!

  131. Thanks Sinar!

  132. Tony Dephillips

    Almost unreal mushiness. Gushiness.

  133. Thanks Linda, yes it’s great to connect up with old friends (real ones this time)

  134. The pleasure is mine bfm.

  135. Thanks Lucy!

  136. Thanks Django!

  137. Thanks Brett, and you’re right, this is the place to blow charge!

  138. Thank you Jerry, I’m looking forward to the Indie gathering.

  139. Thanks Cynthia!

  140. Thanks Picanin, you’re right, I’ve become stronger since I found the truth and acted on it.

  141. Rory Medford

Nice keep on keeping on and tell you friends to look because they will find a big fat gorilla staring right now their throat causing indigestion if they were willing to look. Its incredible how blind people are to whats going on in the church.

I GUESS DM was right they are just plain old stupid and blind!

  142. Now that’s living! But I want to hear part 2…where you got back together!

  143. Karen B., Calvin posted his “declaration” on this site on May 13 at 1l:28, Mother’s Day. May be some clues there.

  144. Phil de Fontenay

Awesome Max! Happy to hear you finally woke up too 🙂

  145. Luis, I read your letter and was horrified. Good to have you as a friend.

  146. Thanks Les, looking forward to meeting you at the Indy convention.

  147. Thank you Lynne and Bert, I did read your writeup. So much unnecessary enturbulation from the “Church”. Glad you made it through!

  148. grazie molti miei amici!

  149. Fred, we could have a Scientology renaissance out here with what we know and can apply.

  150. Thank you Alex for the poem and happy to be your friend!

  151. Hi Terry, I remember you well. Thanks for the compliment and happy kayaking to you!

  152. Thanks Willet! Last I looked “Friends of LRH” was up and running.

  153. Hi Gary, yes it has been a long time. Thanks for the trip down memory lane. What did finally happen with Hartwell? Did he survive the fall? I was married to Alice at the time who is still in the SO at Flag. Nancy was not the name of any of my many wives 🙂

  154. Thanks Bill!

  155. Thanks dan, and thanks for the tip on Rinder’s post.

  156. Thanks Diego, seems like I was congratulating you not that long ago.

  157. Hi Tara, glad you’re here too!

  158. Greta, thanks for the ack. Looking forward to hearing from you.

  159. Thanks Bert!

  160. Ronnie Bell

…blown away by the $25 HAS course!

I think the HAS course was one of the most successful courses ever offered by the church. It created a generation of die-hard Scientologists, and the case gain was unbelievable.

Best damn $25 I ever spent.

  161. Ronnie Bell

Aw, you embarrass me. Thanks 🙂

  162. tampabayjack

Welcome Max…I started my journey at the white house on the corner called the LA Org back in 1968. Many fond memories in and out of that org. Good to learn you spit out the Kool-Aid and joined Rebel Central.

    Jack Airey

  163. LOL, Dan you spin a good tale, you oughta write for Hollywood!

  164. Still waiting to hear more of your story….

  165. Max, nice to meet you, welcome to the land of the rebels in the Wild Wild West or shall I say Wild Wild World. Loved your no nonsense Q&A!

  166. WELCOME, MAX! You picked the right group, at the right time.

My prediction: The Indie 500 will soon be The INDIE 5000.
    The tipping point is near.

  167. It takes courage and integrity to follow through with what you know to be true. Well done sir.

  168. Damn right Ronnie!

I think mine was $50, but whatever . . . what a screaming deal, and what a great intro to Scientology.

When that course got dumped for “Success Through Communication” (I think that was the one, please someone correct me if I’m wrong), I read the STC book. It struck me as not holding a candle to the simplicity of the HAS I did. Does anyone know, did Ron supplant HAS with STC, or was it DM, or someone else altogether?

The answer would be worth knowing, if only as a historical tidbit, although it seemed to me to mark perhaps a beginning point to the downward spiral in which the CofS now finds itself – an early “unusual solution”, if you will, with countless to follow.

  169. Great point DOT and so very true . . .

  170. Looking forward to it!

  171. Me?!?!?! Pull legs?!?!?!

  172. We all know how to fill in the blanks to this one, “If it isn’t fun, __ ___ ___________” Right? (Who first said that, anyone? I had heard Diana….)

  173. I accept the nice compliment from a fellow big game hunter.

  174. I like what’s said at the top of one of the columns of the Chart of Attitudes (as I recall, also a description of the native state of a thetan): “I can make any good thing real.”

  175. Didn’t Ron once say words to the effect of, “When you become too incredible, you become invisible.”? I wouldn’t want to vanish on you guys.

And I have stolen enough thunder from our welcoming Max back amongst the Independent Scientologists.

I say “back” as isn’t that what we were always supposed to have been? “Independent Scientologists”? Seems so to me. Dependent on our own individual knowledge, responsibility and control? Seems high havingness and very high ARC to me.

  176. I meant to say “Dependent only upon our own individual knowledge, responsibility and control.” Marty, you are free to revise if you like. I want to make some sense.

  177. Not to be a pest but it means “Two Xs.” Xs are pronounced equis. They also have a tres equis in Mexico. But I like the horse conotation.

  178. Li'll bit of stuff

L Ron Hubbard termed this — “the third party law”
    others —” witch hunts.”

I thought we were “moving on up a little higher” here,
    ………and into the SUNSHINE ?????
(…seems some of us, still have a ways to go…..)

Calvin B. Duffield Declaration announcement on
Mothers Day 13th May 2012 (ALL relevant details.)
    Indie 500 announcement no #301.

Thank you for asking, Karen B.

  179. Welcome #331! The crazy Church keeps losing the intelligent and compassionate ones such as yourself. Despite my disappointment with Debbies eventual decision, I really have to admire the effect she did manage to create in a short time.
You’re going to have alot of fun out here!

  180. Tony Dephillips

If I were an OSA bot I would first try to engratiate myself to as many posters as possible and then create some covert rifts on the blog to create dissention. Then if called on it I might leave in a big huff and try to prove how mean all these big bad Indies are.
If forced to come out as an Indy- I would do it as mildly as I could. Not as a main blot attraction but as a comment.
I’m not saying Calvin is a bot but he exhibits some things that make him suspect.

  181. Tony Dephillips

    KR me.

  182. You’re such an incredible guy. Haha!
    Love this story.
    Crocodile Dundee meets Superhontas.
Would love to read the second part of it.
    You look great together!

  183. Dear Max,
thank you for your Independence Report.

    All best to you!

  184. LOL. The name only exists online in the form of his “declaration” being repeated — no one listed in the South African city he names that I can find. But I would think being a “40 year” scientologist and a wife with many successes with crimnon in the jails — they would be known at least among some of the people here. Hell, wouldn’t his wife’s work be in all the glossy or events propaganda? I don’t think you can be in the CoS for FORTY years and be a completely unknown quantity to this many long term exes. Anyone personally know Calvin and his lovely wife? Anyone?…… *crickets* ….

  185. Tony Dephillips

    Thanks PlantsRus,
We usually shake them out after awhile. We had a poster here by the name of “OTVIII” and he did similar shit.
I have observed some consistancies with plants/bots that try to post here:
    1. They make many and obvious grammar errors and /or punctuation errors. I think this is to make them “folksy” and to make them seem non-threatening. That way they can worm thier way into the hearts of the vulnerable.
    2. They suck up to certain posters to gain “trust” or credibility.
    3. They start some kind of shit with Marty or introduce some propoganda line into the mix and try to keep dinging it in like the cult does.
    4. Eventually when outed and they know they are busted they blow off. They will never address the concerns that the others here have.
For example Sam and Karen B asked Calvin for a photograph of himself. I bet one will never be produced. You ask if anyone knows him? Maybe they will try some corny poster shiming in saying ” I know Calvin but I am under the radar.
Again, maybe the guy is legit but it’s not looking good right now.
He could prove himself by stating where he was on lines and email a picture of himself and tell us some people he knew while on lines so he cnabe checked out. If he has a beed with that then that is another out-point.

  186. Ronnie Bell

Publius, I long ago drew all of the same conclusions about the old HAS course that you have. It never made a lick of sense to me that that course disappeared from the starting line-up in Scientology. It was hugely successful, and flooded the orgs with new auditor trainees and pcs.

Perhaps it was working just a bit too well for someone, eh?

  187. Max
Congratuations on your first escape….now if you can only get out of Scientology all together, that will truly be a “win”. Notice – your first 13 years of Scientology occurred during LRH’s reign. It sounds like those first 13 years were not all that great. LRH was a madman, a liar and a drug addict. Open your eyes my friend!

  188. GBEAR, thanks for sharing. You missed the point. I’m not “in” Scientology. Scientology is “in” me.
“That fantastic, little $25 course blew my case to smithereens and made me a Scientologist for life!”
And I would certainly like you to have the gains I’ve had 🙂

  189. Thanks SKM!

  190. Thanks and I’m having fun already!

  191. Thanks for the ack!

  192. Thanks Ron, I can see it snowballing before my very eyes 🙂

  193. Thanks Betsy!

  194. Thanks Jack!

  195. Thanks Phil, glad you made it too!

  196. Li'll bit of stuff

Marty, I note that you didn’t let either of my replies
through on this heavy invalidation cycle being
waged above. Looks like suspicion rules on this one. Gotta give credit for some great work on the 3rd pty to the guys. It’s been VERY effective. But I thank you, Marty. Taught me to take it, in
    my stride.
Under the radar, cloak, hidden identity,OSA ‘bot,
    troll, minions, out-points,sucking up,plants,etc,

Bring it on, I’ve stepped into the sunshine, and
your shadowy little world, of paranoia, suspicion,
snide remarks and baseless accusations, just
serve to illustrate what a long way, some still
    have to go.

I know who my real friends are, here, Marty
and so do they and in THIS operating climate,
that’s what matters to me, not the sudden
    justice snaps or permitted inquisitions.

Are you fair, Marty ? Perhaps, but in this case, I think not.

Thank you for reading this, at least.

  197. Tony Dephillips

Just provide a picture and some people that know you from inside the “church”.
Come on…be pan-determined. It shouldn’t be that hard.
    If not…suspicions confirmed.

  198. Still crickets. No one can vouch for this 40 year Scio and he provides no info except absurd indignation that Ex-Scios question suspicious commenters. (I mean why on earth would ex-CoS members be suspicious? It’s not like they are opposing a ruthless psychopath with no moral compass that has billions as his disposal, an entire intelligence army of slaves, spends millions on PIs and lawyers to harass and intimidate his critics, oh wait..)

    Also, this:

The South Africa phonebook lists no Calvin Duffield in Durban, not even in the region. In fact online the name ONLY exists via his “declaration” being repeated telephone style. The only other Calvin Duffield listed online is in genealogy records and died 100 years ago in the American Midwest.

How hard is it to confirm you’re a real person with an authentic involvement in the CoS? Hasn’t been a problem for any of the others on the Indie list that participate on this blog.

  199. Tony Dephillips

I like the way you roll bro!

  200. I think the thing that Calvin does not fully understand is the lengths in which DM will go to stop the Independents.

I really suggest that he and anyone else who considers this a witch hunt should first educate themselves about how DM works. Mark Fisher has a series of videos which clearly show this in action. This is the link.

And, understandably, if I were not a plant I would be upset about being accused of one and would do what I could to correct this misunderstanding, providing data or picture could be helpful. Hey, I even have certs and a declare with my name on them.

Max asked me to read his “going public” announcement and I did. Unfortunately it left me with even more questions. I am a genealogist and though his write up lists many names, dates and places…they just don’t add up. They don’t add up with Scientology sites or Jockey sites and they don’t add up with genealogy sites…all of which are heavily into documentation. He claims his father was a jockey and that fact may be true as there was a man by the name of Bernie from Durban who went to England who was a jockey. But this was well ahead of Calvin’s birth. I did find other genealogists who currently live in Durban with Aussie connections, perhaps they are related. It wouldn’t take much to pull the string.

Bottom line is I don’t find much info on any of the people listed in his write up which I find particularly odd especially since he reports to have had such a colorful life. I have quite an ordinary life, yet I am listed all over the internet. Maybe it is the fact that there was so much detail in “who” he was, as in biography. Perhaps there is data missing which leads some of us to jump to wrong conclusions. The data series is a tool which allows us to correct this. I, for one would not feel made wrong at all if someone corrected me. In fact, I’d feel grateful because I found that truth as-ises whether one was right or wrong about their conclusions.

Finally, I apologize to Max for having this thread on his Independent announcement, it really is the wrong place for this conversation. Max, you have taken a liking to Calvin and it is not my intention to discredit him specifically. But, this blog is about truth and being able to communicate. I have seen people that I knew personally enter into this blog, only to find out later that they became pawns of OSA and they blew the cover of others who were under the radar. Others, who had BIG connections and had begun disseminating “truth” were quickly hauled in to ethics and HANDLED and an iron door was shut tight on one of the most resistive koolaide camps. But one day, it will break open, of that I am sure.

  201. Tony Dephillips

    Thanks Karen B.
I agree with everything you said here.
If “Calvin” was pan-determined I think he would be willing to help us establish his credibility here. I already “ate crow” once for seemingly misjudging him, I could eat another plateful no problem. Crow can be delicious if cooked properly….

  202. There is no “reply” link at Karen B’s last post so I’m posting here.
I’m not at all bothered that the thread has turned from my declaration to confirming anyone’s identity. I don’t want someone to be put at risk.
I received an email from Calvin yesterday morning and I replied later that day. His included a picture of himself and his wife and a ’70s photo of a motorcyle race. I asked him if he wanted me to post the picture on the blog for him I haven’t heard back from him and I may not have access to a computer for the next couple of days so I’m posting this comment now.

  203. Tony Dephillips

    Hi Max.
That’s a step in the right direction. It would be nice to see his face on the blog so others can chime in.
And if could find anyone who knows him that would be cool too.

  204. Another Layer

Congratulations, Max! I too am a HUGE fan of that $25 comm course … turned my life around completely (in a good way)! Did you sup the BSM at 2005 W. 9th Street, sometime in the late summer, early fall of 1975?

  205. Li'll bit of stuff

Hello Its me, the guy you can’t find
    anywhere, because to your satisfaction,
    you’ve proved I don’t even exist!!!!!

After posting here for some 8 months &
making some great friends, and having
the opportunity to get to know many of
you through the fabric and tone of your
    comm…well, spotting people on the
tone scale is easy for me, like flying is,
for a bird. Hey, I just stuck to my basics
and I find Marty does too., like the
    “granting of beingness”.so empowering.

But i digress…anyway, after many weeks
of failed attempts to put together my
declaration. I scrapped a thick folder of
drafts and decided, what the hell, just
go for it! and ad libbed my thoughts for
the 13 May Mothers Day Celebration.

The feeling was indescribable, the calmness
and certainty that came as a result of
that announcement, well no one can take
from me, pure beingness, no additives,
    no suspicions, paranoia, internal demon
circuits, it’s all gone. There’s just me.

Then I came back to the blog to find
a BRAND NEW cycle of invalidations.
suspicions and lo and behold the most
    thorough, determined efforts to establish
the veracity or falsehood of my declaration
as some sort of Reverse Sunshine R /D?

I find this whole exercise uproariously
funny. What’s happened to your simple
Obnosis, Someone is feeding you this
bait and you’ve taken it! Hook line and
sinker. And that “picture” now DEMANDED
of me, when it’s sent, will of course have
been “photoshopped” or any friends or
documents that I am obliged to scramble for
to PROVE that I exist, wlll of course have
    been fraudulently “manufactured,”

    I reiterate what I said earlier—That I
thought we were ” moving on up a little
    higher ” here……….seems though that
some of us still have a way to go.!!!!!

My God, The Oracle, please tell me
( and THEM ) that I actually exist, before (cunningly engineered )suspicion finally kills them?

    Unbelievable! These are Scientologists?

  206. Thanks, Max. I’ll check back periodically for future communnications.

  207. Yep, that was me.

  208. Kudos Max!

    Hi Karen B
I hope the two E-mails below , will clear up the mystery sandwich that surrounds Calvin and I
    ARC Dorothy Duffield.

    Hi Dorothy and Calvin
It is most disappointing that neither of you said anything when Cathie and I saw you. it would have been the honest and decent thing to do. Dorothy, I especially asked you if you’d joined and you said no.
As you know, you cannot continue with Criminon under the circumstances and will have to deliver all Criminon material, everything to do with Criminon, and all your students to the org asap.
lf you dispute this, how can you prove it? It was seen on the blog in March, already?
I look forward to hearing from you in this regard.
    Read on:
Calvin B. Duffield from Durban, SA. He posted on Rathbun’s blog that he and his
wife just signed Steve Hall’s list of Independent Scientologists. The most recent
two names are Calvin and Dorothy Duffield, and their training and auditing descriptions match what he previously posted on the blog. He will be doing is declaration in the next few days. Rathbun validated him.
The Independents as you know are an SP group of squirrels.
Steve Hall is an SP/Sqrl with the sqrl group called ‘The Independents”
Calvin B. Duffield – left after 41 years! Durban South Africa – Indie 500 List
Dorothy Duffield – left after 39 years! First NED Auditor and C/S in Durban Org, Criminon counselor Durban, South Africa – Indie 500 List

    Hi Dorothy
I refer you to your email below. You lied to me.
You know you can’t remain with Criminon under the circumstances – yet you lied. You know too that Cathie and I cannot be associated with you, yet you lied. How do you justify it?
What you do as a member of Criminon is very much my business and you know it.
TWTH Precept, Be Worthy of Trust. Don’t Do unto Others… Do Not Harm people of
You betray everyone, including your students, when you violate the very precepts you are supervising.

    See Above e-mails

  211. Hi Dorothy,
Seems like the church has forgotten all the policies on handling ARC broken students and PCs, too. Even a simple TR4 would be appropriate. Sheesh! So, let’s move forward! Welcome to the Independents!

As I was doing my research I ran into some real retro video clips of Durban.starting around the 40s and going forward to PT.. Great piece, beautiful place!

  212. Tony Dephillips

    This seems helpful.
    Who is Allison Farah?
Just to play devils advocate- who do you guys know in the field as public Scientologists? It could be possible that OSA could be giving you a cover story. I’m not saying that’s true- I’m just saying we might as well totally handle this terminatedly so it gets fully resolved.
    How about some pictures?
Obviously you don’t have to do anything. I just feel it would be a show of good faith. A lot of this could have been prevented by coming out on Martys site the conventional way.

  213. Li'll bit of stuff

Tony, will anything ever satisfy you? You still have not responded to me on Facebook.

    ARC, Dorothy

  214. Li'll bit of stuff

Tony, Fortunately, I have learned an enormous
amount in the handling of baiting, directly from Marty, who has, perhaps, taken more bullshit and
attacks and been privy to same, then anyone else
around the scene, and his demeanour and tone,
are summed up in two words; compassion and

Not surprisingly, this is what attracted me to him
in the very beginning, as these happen to be
the two qualities that motivate me, personally!
(Marty, refused to print some of the replies,
that I had sent in response to your constant,
vicious, and unfounded personal attacks on
my integrity and character. More kudos Marty)

Sadly, in your all consuming suspicious mind,
there is no, nadda, zilch room, for the simple
“granting of beingness,” REAL compassion, or
focus on building, rather than trampling on ARC.

If you feel serfac’y or defensive about 99% of all your comments made on me Tony, it’s
okay, they are recorded on the Internet in
    perpetuity, for “thorough checking out.”

I owe you no respect or explanations or proof
of any kind. I do not accuse every bush of
concealing Martians, just because its looks unfamiliar .To me, a bush is just a bush!

I wish you well in your activities.

  215. Tony Dephillips

    Hi “Calvin”,
    Got it.
You seem very hostile over a perfectly rational potential that you are an OSA bot. In fact your hostility, almost validates it to me.
You talk about granting of beingness, yet you can’t seem to get it on why some here don’t trust you. Have you no repsonsibility in this?
Personally , I have no real interest other than maybe the fact that I can’t stand slimy OSA bots. I really hope you are not one. If you are one, which I think possible and someone gets duped and slimed by you then I can say in my mind that I tried to help them. I don’t feel defensive about my comments to you. I feel my comments are well founded.
It isn’t just me suspicious of you, I’m just one of the ones vocal about it. You created it from your comments and actions. Many people got through here very smoothly on their announcements without issue.
I don’t give a rats ass what others think about me for the most part. I am proud to have this recorded on the Internet. If you questioned me and I thought it was reasonable I would take the time to handle the suspicions if I liked the group instead of acting all “huffy” about it.
I don’t understand your point about Marty helping you by not posting your replies to me. You seem to be sucking up to him now, almost propitiative.
What is vicious about asking someone to provide a picture and tell us about a few people that they know in their area that know them and establish some reality? Your over the top reaction is either coming from a desire to mis-direct or you are irrational on the subject at hand.

  216. Tony Dephillips

I never got anything from you on Facebook.
Supply what is asked for. It’s not that hard. Stop pretending you don’t understand what is being asked for.
This is my final communication on this thread

  217. Li'll bit of stuff

TR-3 ….I wish you well in your activities….

  218. Thanks for the correction, Jerry! I don’t speak Spanish and was guessing it derived from the Latin word for “horse”, and going wildly wrong! Turns out, Spanish for “horse” is “caballo”, anyway. So 2 horses would likely be “dos caballos”. (But don’t take my word for it!) I’ll shut up now before I create even more trouble…..

  219. Li'll bit of stuff

  220. Tony, for what it’s worth, here is something about Allison Farah, found here:

At least she does exist. Without seeing the full email headers, there is no way to know if the emails “Dorothy” posted are real. And even if they are, it could still be a setup.

“The following 4 individual completions for Allison Farah appear in official Scientology publications:

Allison Farah SUNSHINE RUNDOWN COMPLETION Advance ANZO 185 2007-10-01
Allison Farah HAPPINESS RUNDOWN Source 207 2010-01-0
Allison Farah HAVINGNESS RUNDOWN Source 207 2010-01-01
Allison Farah PROFESSION INTENSTVE Source 207 2010-01-01”

  221. Tony DePhillips

    Thanks Valkov.
The jury is still out on this guy in my opinion.
All of his hysterics are just more out-points whether a bot or not.
Maybe the guy is hidious and doesn’t want us to see his face.
I am sure that I won’t be the only one watching his actions on the blog.
    Have a good weekend.

  222. Li'll bit of stuff

Valkov, I know that you are a secure,
compassionate person and that is all
    I need to say…….thanks.Calvin.

  223. Li’l bit, just be sure you are not spinning my post to be something it is not. To my mind, the jury is still out, about you. I am neither friend nor foe – I posted some info in reply to Tony’s question about who Allison Farah might be. It doesn’t prove anything one way or the other about you. It is one small possibly relevant fact.

  224. Li'll bit of stuff

All good, Sir! …..I am also quite secure in myself and therefore do not see the
need to prove anything to others. This
is just a blog, NOT a courtroom! (Jury??
you got to be kidding me, Valkov????)

Please feel completely free to bring ANY
evidence to view, where I have acted
with malice of forethought, or any 3rd pty
    slander of character or nit-picked
    about somene’s grammar or positioning
of full stops, and commas or pathetic
    paranoia over imaginary boogy- men
or whatever ? For FUCK’S sake Valkov, what has ANY of this shit got to do with
creating ARC??? Or “moving on up a little HIGHER ???”( Marty’s declared

I have kept my focus of attacks directed to the subject of Marty’s ” 31 Factors” as I believe that is where “attacks” or “thorough investigations” belong, NOT on declared Indies who SUPPORT this

    Un- frigging -believable!

Calvin B. Duffield, Durban, South Africa
    Full declaration (here)on 13 May 2012, Indie 500 list no. # 301
    Dorothy Duffield no. # 302
