Scientology and Common Sense

by Haydn James

A pretty business indeed for a man to be allowed  eight hundred thousand sterling a year and worshipped into the bargain! Of more worth is one honest man to society and in the sight of God, than all the crowned ruffians that ever lived

Thomas Paine

Common Sense, 1776

In addition to Miscavige’s lengthening list of crimes, let’s take a look at a subject that has received too little attention over the years, which contributed to his rise to power in the first place: namely Scientology’s lack of a correct form of government or constitution.

In his text on the subject entitled Common Sense, back in 1776, Englishman Thomas Paine took less than thirty pages to utterly obliterate any arguments in favor of a group of people ever using a system of monarchs or supreme rulers to lord over them. Even some staunch royalists read those few pages at the time and thought “well, that’s it then, never again will I allow royalty to rule over me. How stupid to let yourself be ruled by someone about whom you have no say and on whom you can have no effect. How silly to give total power to someone to make whatever far reaching decisions they want whenever they want and there is nothing that can be done, no impeachment, no removal, no ousting from office, nothing, ever.”

Paine pointed out that other than an all too brief period during which a people might be lucky enough to be ruled by a benign monarch (with no means of controlling succession), putting oneself at total effect by investing all privileges, powers and rights in someone who enriches themselves while demanding unrelenting worship into the bargain was a ridiculous state of affairs.

Such forceful arguments plus Paine’s proposals for a viable alternative — a correct form of government containing necessary checks and balances — sparked a successful revolution against the British and the creation of the United States of America. And make no mistake, the American Revolution reverberated around the globe and changed its political landscape forever, finally killing off the last remnants of the western world’s longstanding feudal system. And if Paine had had his way the American Revolution would have killed off all other forms of slavery too but Washington didn’t keep his end of the bargain.

A One Horse Race

Now, let’s look at what we’ve had in Scientology for the past twenty odd years:

Miscavige has been anything but benign, and from the moment he rigged the race and became the supreme head of Scientology he’s had more relative power than the President of the United States because he’s had total control of Scientology’s executive (management), its legislative machinery (policy and decision making) and its judiciary (Scientology’s ethics and justice system) which made it impossible for anyone to ever question or countermand his orders, or pass any Scientology law prohibiting his actions, or impeach him for improper conduct, abuse of power or any other type of violation.

Despite glaring lessons from history, Scientology has had and still has a dictator with supreme power that no one can question because he is the head of all things.

This has resulted in a total lack of checks and balances in the governing of Scientology.

And, a lack of functioning organizations managing it. So is it any wonder we also have:

1. Widespread perversions of tech and alterations of policy.

2. Numerous injustices, abuse of individuals and families.

3. Dwindling orgs and numbers of Scientologists.

4.  harassed public required to fund out of their own pockets the supreme ruler’s unchecked and uncontrolled penchant for unusual solutions and strange projects which make a tax on tea look like chump change.

And make no mistake Miscavige has and does enrich himself at Scientology’s expense, a process that began the moment he had unassailable power and which has continued to gather pace. And the fact that no one within the Church of Scientology has ever dared to ask him how much he has taken proves my point entirely.

Miscavige’s Wrong Target Defense

For self protection against the growing disquiet in the field, Miscavige tries to run the mis-director, the deflecting line that potent objections to his misrule are attempts to attack the church and tear it down. One of the most common lines coming from OSA these days is: “Yes, some things are wrong within the Church of Scientology, but that’s no reason to tear it down” – an accusation repeatedly leveled at the Independents by OSA in their attempts to split my eldest daughter from her fiancé.

Some things wrong? Well, I guess they are correct if by some things wrong they mean planet wide out-tech, a lack of management, widespread injustice, failing orgs, a steeply worsening global image, a strange obsessing about buildings when Scientology was only ever about and only ever will be about people, and a lengthening list of the outraged and the abused who swell the ranks of the Independents.

[As a side note, I do wonder how Scientologists justify getting involved and caught up in this fixation with buildings while people go begging, ignored if not also abused. I imagine that they must tell themselves that they will eventually get to help people way, way, way, way down the line after they have helped Miscavige build his pipe dream of a bricks-and-mortar-audio-visual system that will somehow automatically handle all the people they’ve neglected in the meantime. A dream that will never be realized and shame on them anyway because LRH always said that people can only be helped by “you and me with our sleeves rolled up” and “one at a time”.]

The sad thing is that Scientology is being torn down, but not by Independents, the demolition job is being done by Miscavige and those remaining who bow down before him, fawn all over him and those that propitiate or try to appease him.

If Independents wanted to see the destruction of Scientology all they would have to do is stay silent, sit back and watch.

Another line Miscavige uses is that because Scientology is such a powerful cure for man’s ills that the end justifies his means. Well, quite apart from the fact that his means are destructive and a total failure, I say that it is because he has had Scientology tech at his disposal all these years that his means (abuse of Scientology and abuses perpetrated in the name of Scientology) have been all the more unnecessary and inexcusable.

As part of this he continues to use statements of justification such as “to clear a planet you sometimes have to get rough.” Really? If that were true auditors would slap their PCs while yelling for them to have a cognition. And they are certainly heading in that direction under Miscavige.

No, I say that if Scientology is ever going to help this planet, if it is ever going to be taken seriously then it must act in a manner befitting its technology — its people must use and demonstrate the highest levels of understanding. We must be and should be the greatest proponents of the universal solvent this planet has ever seen. Frankly, the many great men that have gone before us are going to be an awfully tough act to follow in this regard but we do have the technology so we are just going to have to suck it up.

Just think about it, as we stand, how could anyone possibly reconcile Miscavige’s homophobia, enforced divorces, coerced abortions, and his lack of care for staff, children and families, his completely over the top rapacious collection of money and his ridiculously tough stance in the media with the greatest movement on earth? Well, they can’t.

But the most insidious play in Miscavige’s wrong target defense playbook is the fact that he holds over us and would have us accept that exposing his crimes to the world at large would cause “untold harm to Scientology”. Well, quite in addition to the fact that untold harm has already been caused to Scientology, I say that the very fact that it is Scientology means his crimes MUST be exposed to the world at large, that Scientology must fix itself and the world must see it do so or there is little hope it will ever regain a correct image or achieve its purpose. LRH never said Scientology was perfect but he did say it was workable, so the world witnessing such workability in action by seeing Scientology overcome its own internal problems and then implementing needed reforms has many great advantages.

The last major line in Miscavige’s wrong target defense is that prominent Independents just want to take over from him so they can have all the power for themselves.

It’s no surprise that such a power hungry creature as Miscavige would think that way and by myopically making the accusation he misses the fact that it is an admission of guilt, an admission that anyone grabbing his power would be able to dominate Scientology. But what Independents would like to see is an end to dictatorship (and all forms of abuse) and a system put in place that prevents a single person or clique from ever dominating Scientology again, a system that would allow the power of the tech to shine through and carry out the simple purpose for which it was designed – to help the people of earth, certainly all those that wish to be helped by it.

A Better Way

Surely a subject as broad as Scientology contains within it the answers to the riddle of its own correct government. I certainly think it does so from what I know of Scientology I carried out a brief exercise to see if there was a way of governing the Church of Scientology that would be better than the tyrannical mess we have and that might prevent such destructive domination from ever happening again.

I believe there has to be some form of governing body for Scientology, but that a prospective member of such a body would have to qualify in a number of ways. They would have to be experts in Scientology technology, policy or jurisprudence and they would have to exhibit the very essence and nature of Scientology (understanding, pan-determinism, the granting of beingness as well as other qualities unique to Scientology). In short, they would have to be highly trained and experienced OTs.

As LRH points out in Ron’s Journal 67 and elsewhere, OTs work best when organized with other OTs so the governing body of Scientology would have to be a well organized group of OTs. And it would be wise to form a number of such OT organizations, each with their own duties to perform but each with an additional responsibility to cross check or police the performance of the others. In that way no one person or organization could become too powerful, too out of control or stray too far off track or go criminal, what Thomas Paine would have called “checks and balances”.

Such a set up (these three organizations simply working in concert) would represent the highest toned government possible for Scientology as confirmed by LRH in his masterpiece, HCO PL An Essay on Management, in which he states:

We are examining here, if you have not

noticed, the tone scale of governments or companies

or groups in general from the high Theta

of a near cooperative state, down through the

Theta of a democratic Republic, down through

“emergency management”, down through

totalitarianism, down through tyranny and

down, if not resurged by a new goal finder

somewhere on the route, into the apathy of a

dying organization or nation.

TONE SCALE OF GOVERNMENTS, COMPANIES OR GROUPS

Near cooperative state

Democratic republic

Emergency management”

Totalitarianism

Tyranny

Apathy of a dying organization or nation

But this is just my take on things, my brief and humble attempt to solve the problem which shows there are potential options, there are better ways. I am certain that if Scientologists put their heads together and use what they know, the problem of going forward with Scientology and how to prevent tyranny from ever happening again will be solved. But that debate is for another time and another place.

The Task at Hand

The immediate barrier we are faced with is the fact that the current dictatorship ruling Scientology bears a greater resemblance to pre-1776 colonial America than it does to the technology and policy of Scientology.

But don’t sit back and expect someone in corporate Scientology to do anything about it. The Church of Scientology has been subjected to tyranny for so long it has dropped far down the organizational tone scale and is now experiencing apathy of a dying organization. And within that apathy there is blind acceptance of the assertions from Miscavige’s wrong target defense. So we have to grow up boys and girls, L Ron Hubbard is not here to bail us out, it’s up to us to take responsibility and put things right. But we move forward comforted by the knowledge that whatever comes after him, it will be a great deal better than Miscavige.

And since Scientology is a “closed shop”, mis-run by a dictator with no effective form of remedy open, there is but one course of action left – to withdraw any and all support from the tyrant, the same position Americans found themselves in circa 1776, when one of those great men I referred to wrote:

TO CONCLUDE: however strange it may appear to some, or however unwilling they be to think so, matters not, but many strong and striking reasons may be given, to shew, that nothing can settle our affairs so expeditiously as an open and determined declaration for independence.

Idle Orgs – The Great Ponzi Scheme

by Mike Rinder

To quote David Miscavige (in classic Dan Sherman speak) from the recent March 13 event :

Our theme is relentless expansion, which you might also describe as both astounding and astonishing – and you can add staggering and even bedazzling…”

Not to mention “utterly incredible” as in: adjective not credible; unbelievable.

First, let’s examine one aspect of this incredible expansion. The Theory of Expansion is to put a stable point there and expand from it. LRH laid it out — open groups around the world to provide introductory services which expand and graduate to Mission status at which time they can move people up through higher levels of training and auditing. The Missions in turn expand and become new Orgs, the stable points in society. Missions cannot Clear anyone and more importantly, they cannot train auditors, that can ONLY be done in an official Church of Scientology Class V or above Org. Of course, without auditors, you can’t do much (though you can reg for building donations, IAS donations, book donations and staff pay donations); to generate real expansion of Dianetics and Scientology there must be an ever growing number of Orgs. In 1992, the Church informed the IRS that there were 156 Scientology Orgs around the world. In the ensuing 18 years of bedazzling expansion there has NOT BEEN ONE NEW ORG added to that total (There was a new org in Greece and maybe one in Taiwan, but there were a couple that shut their doors elsewhere).

Second, the big fudge stat that DM trots out is “more than 8,000 Groups, Missions and Orgs on the global map.” But with 150 or so orgs, about 300 Missions, no more than 100 Narconons, a couple of hundred Applied Scholastics Schools and groups, no more than 100 total CCHR, Criminon, Citizens Commission on Law Enforcement groups (according to the official websites) – he is thousands short. Sure, there are some Dianetics groups. Let’s take the wildest estimate of 1000 around the world (try and find one in your local area, just look them up in the phone book). Still “short” more than 6000. Perhaps there are WTH groups somewhere? One would imagine even if there were 1000 of these you would see SOME result, but let’s take 1000 WTH groups. Dave, you’re still “short” 5000. Add Volunteer Minister “groups” — they probably count a couple of thousand of those, though every time there is a disaster it seems the same people are rounded up to go off and put on their yellow t-shirts. So, presumably the balance must be thousands and thousands of “WISE groups” that have nothing to do with getting people onto and up the Bridge. So, the 8,000 plus orgs, missions and groups is less than 500 orgs and missions and more than 7500 uncategorized “groups.” But, it is impossible that with this many “groups” there aren’t hundreds of new expanding Missions and from that a dozen or two each decade would become an Org? Would ONE new Org a year be “bedazzling” expansion? Is ZERO?

Somehow, Dave, it just doesn’t add up.

Third, the results of the International Birthday Game leaves a bit of a credibility gap for the discerning viewer…

The best Mission in the world and winner of the international Birthday Game (evidencing the greatest expansion rate over an entire year) for the THIRD time is the Mission of Los Feliz. But the oddity is that if they have had the fastest rate of expansion for 3 years, why do they only have 25 staff? There used to be Missions with more than 100 staff back in the 70’s and 80’s? OK, let’s ignore that and move on.

The World Champion Class V org is the Idle Org of CC Nashville. And who was on stage to accept the award? None other than Sea Org member Renee Duszak, known to many in the LA area from her time at AOLA and CC Int. This seemed a little strange, but then I met someone who was recently an outer org tech trainee at the Friendliest Place in the World. Here is the bizarre tale of what happens with those outer org trainees unlucky enough to be sent to Flag for training. Upon completion of their training, INCLUDING internships, they are put onto “apprenticeships” in the Flag HGC and are required to get 5 public from lower orgs arrived to do Grades before they can “graduate”, or they are made to do a “Div 6 apprenticeship” supervising “Basics” courses. But the worst fate for an outer org trainee is to be sent to the newest undermanned Idle Org (and believe it, they are ALL undermanned). The tech resources for the “Idle Orgs” are manned by staff imported from other orgs and they are there until they replace themselves. The Flag Outer Org Trainee weekly staff meeting announces how many staff have been recruited for Idle Orgs by other orgs (“Sacramento recruited two tech staff for Las Vegas this week”). The Hey You that has been the norm at International Management for years (Guillaume Lesevre “from International Management” – NOT “ED International” – presented the Birthday Game Awards) has become the standard operating procedure in the orgs now too.

But, how low does it go on perverting everything in the land of DM? The LRH Birthday Game has now officially been reduced to a farce. They list the winners for each Continent and of course, if there is an “Idle Org” in that Continent they had to win, otherwise Emperor DM would have been standing on stage with no clothes. So, the biggest and best org in Europe was the “Idle Org of Malmo”, somehow managing to beat out Milano, Munich and Moscow (not to mention all the other letters of the alphabet). Anyone who saw the report from Dan Koon when he visited the morgue in Malmo knows how “astonishing” this is. The top of the heap in the UK is the Idle Org of London Foundation. I saw the empty, dead London Org several times in December and if this is the biggest booming org in the UK then the “bedazzling” expansion is really something. And the WUS winner was the Idle Org of Dallas. Again, eyewitness reports show the place to be empty – what happened to the hugely booming San Francisco? Mountain View? Orange County? LA Org? Surely Dallas isn’t the brightest star in the entire Western United States?

So, the Ponzi scheme rolls on, with Scientologists around the world being hoodwinked into giving money for the Idle Org strategy believing that this is what is going to expand Scientology in violation of all LRH policy on the subject. Those orgs are being manned with SO members Hey-You’d from management and staff from other orgs sent to “apprentice”. And when the video is shown at the event, the resources are poured into the next org to be video’d. Anyone been to Buffalo Idle Org recently? San Francisco? Madrid? Or any of the other “old” Idle Orgs? They are not booming. The bright lights of the video crews are gone and they are back to the small, failing orgs they were before DM breezed into town to bask in the limelight.

In his usual rousing finale at the March 13th event, DM rather aptly described Scientology as “a southbound train on a downward slope”. Freudian slip?

Sad as this whole scenario is, I must thank Dan Sherman for providing at least a little humor. Get a load of this passage that must take an honored place in the Hall of Shame of Ridiculous Hype: “This is the occasion when we celebrate Source—utterly and emphatically. It is also an unqualified and unconditional occasion, which means this is nothing else except unbridled celebration. While just for good measure, it might even be called an unequivocal and uncompromising celebration, especially in a world where the economic and political gurus will tell you the global recession is not a depression, it is the decline and fall of Western civilization.” Phew…

A picture tells a thousand words

Clearwater retrospection

I just returned home after six days in Clearwater area.  The most glaring fact I observed was that DM is sparing no expense to put a lid on my best, good buddy Michael John Rinder.  I estimate, conservatively, that they are spending on the order of five thousand dollars a day solely on surveillance of Mike.  We had several cars on us at all times during daily trips throughout Pinellas county.  If it weren’t so potentially hazardous to innocent bystanders, it would be funny. They had a number of late model, tinted-window vehicles running stop signs, running red lights, crossing center islands, running the wrong way on one-way streets, and even had a guy going sixty miles an hour on top of the center island on U.S. 19 for some distance in pursuit.  They have infiltrated our cell phone carrier system to track us electronically.  We let them be in hopes of preserving some of the parishioners’  hard earned donations,  protecting the well-being of innocents, and throwing some interesting red herrings his way. Still, DM is so demanding of our every move his PI corps are putting the lives of Pinellas county citizens at risk each day.  With the amount of in-your-face tailing Mike is receiving, it is wonder to me that he remains so cool.

The Iceman

I, on the other hand, have received some emails from friends suggesting I cool my jets for a bit. After watching the video of our Wednesday Fort Harrison video, they suggested I take a long weekend.  I wasn’t in the best of moods.  The night before DM, in his inimitable style, while he knew I was far away in Clearwater, sent a couple goons to pay a visit to Mosey at our home in Texas.  Despite being alone she was quite a bit more dignified, composed and friendly than the Fort Harrison welcoming crew we met.

DM’s Texas mission again was fixated on finding out my “prices” for service.  Seems DM just can’t accept the reality that not everyone is a money-motivated, greed-driven power addict like himself.  Please get this through your thick head:  I don’t need a lot of money because, unlike you, I don’t want to control, surveil, oppress and suppress people.  In the meantime, I’m taking my friends’ advice.

Chillin' at the Shack

Look Who’s Disconnecting Now

Mike Rinder, Mareka James and I went to the Fort Harrison Wednesday afternoon (driven by the irrepressible Christi King and video’d by the omnipresent Haydn James) so that Mike might have the opportunity to speak with his son Benjamin (who was also a lifelong friend of Mareka).  DM has been misinforming the media and Scientologists that Mike is the one that disconnected from his family, that it was not the other way around.  Each member of  Mike’s family, with the exception of  Benjamin, had many months ago sent Mike perhaps the most vicious disconnection letters I have ever read.  They were quite apparently dictated by the dictator himself. The church’s reaction to our simple request for Mike to have a word with his son was predictable, but nonetheless bizarre.  You can catch some of the live action on You Tube: cleaner version:

For cleaner/clearer version here is the link:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Io1iRBdS_n4

In all, our peaceful and polite request was met with six security personnel, six private eyes on foot with video cameras, two private eyes in vehicles circling the scene with video cameras, and five Clearwater Police squad cars with as many officers. In the face of all that, Haydn did a yeoman’s job documenting the incident.  While he couldn’t get the final result on camera, he did get it on audio tape. It is transcribed below:

Officer: Mr. Rinder. I spoke with him (Benjamin). At this time, he said he doesn’t wish to come out and talk with you. If he wants to contact you later on, he will do that.

Rinder: Thank you, Officer.

Rinder: Peter (Mansel – CO OSA Flag), will you stop telling the media that I refused to talk to him?  Peter, tell DM…this is a copy of the D/A (dead agent) pack that is out about CNN right now (shows Mansel). It says ‘Benjamin had cancer, and I refused to talk to him, that my wife came to Denver and I refused to talk to her when she was there.’  You all know that that is not true.  I was never told that she was there. I was never told that he had cancer… If he doesn’t want to see me, that is his option.  But, if you are going to continue to tell the media that I am refusing to talk to him and that I don’t want to have anything to do with him, then that’s on your head. Because now I actually have the evidence that I will take back to the BBC and show them compared to the letters they are getting from DM and his crazy attorneys saying that I’m refusing to talk to him.  That isn’t the case.  So, if you would stop doing that, that will be appreciated.

Mansel: I’ll have a talk to you Mike, without the tape recording goon (indicates Marty holding a tape recorder).

Marty: Peter, please, you’ve got five PI goons videoing everything that is going on here…

End of comm cycle.

Cruise Missile or Scud?

For those of us who assumed Cruise was wisely distancing himself from Miscavige, I’ve got news.  DM is still deploying Tom’s lawyer Bert Fields as an attack dog.  After his failed attempts to shut me up Fields is now trying to shudder Amy Scobee into silence.  I have included a link to a letter recently sent from the august Mr. Fields directly to Amy.  TC 4.6.10 L-Amy Scobee

Now, I have some unsolicited advice for Fields (and by extension his nominal client Tom and his de facto client Dave):

Re drugs. Amy simply recounted a conversation wherein DM’s wife and Assistant Shelly Miscavige  told Amy that Tom was “so gung-ho” that he wanted to join the Sea Org but he didn’t qualify because of his previous drug history. Bert, you “doubt” Shelly ever said that? Then why not talk to the wife of your client’s best friend and find out? She is at the CST Mile High property near Lake Arrowhead California. She has been under constant surveillance by my former wife whom DM has turned in to a prison guard. But, I am sure Tom’s pal DM can get you brief visitation.

Re Break up with Nicole.  Amy doesn’t cover it in her book because  she did not have any first hand information about the circumstances of their break up.

Re Tom’s money being lost by Scientologists.  Amy covers her first-hand experience with Alan Hollander. He was sent to Amy to get him to join the Sea Org (even though he had huge pressing debts). DM had Alan immediately put in the bilges on the ship for punishment – for what reason, Amy did not know at that time. When Alan served his sentence and resurfaced, he told Amy he had been assigned to hard labor because he messed up on some investment for TC. She then was ordered to post him in CC Int. She complied, but he had to leave the Sea Org shortly thereafter because his debts were so bad and were not getting handled.  Bert, first check your facts with Hollander and your client. Then what you need to do is apply some “varying of the question” and ask DM about the Feshbachs. DM got Tom to invest a bundle with them as he had also done personally. The F brothers were making DM so much money personally from their short selling DM wanted to impress Tom with the caliber of his brand of OTs.  The Feschbachs lost  Tom’s and DM’s (new) investment money. In order to stay in with the in-crowd (perhaps so that their progeny might one day pimp for DM) they put their own money up to cover both Tom’s and DM’s losses.  It seems the more DM tries to muscle people, the more he refreshes my memory.

Re church paid staff working for Cruise. Amy did a project to hire Scientologists for TC’s household.  Amy went to Tom’s house and Jenny Gaynor (LRH Household Unit staff member) was there working for TC at the direction of Miscavige. Gaynor told Amy that Amy was replacing her on all the functions she was performing for Tom… (executive housekeeper, maid, cook).  Again Bert, why don’t you ask Jenny whether that is true, or DM, or Shelly, or perhaps even your nominal client?

It would appear to me that all you have accomplished for your client over the past year is to write letters that position Tom as being as  paranoid and aggressive as the cult leader he apparently follows.

Bert, I have some more fundamental advice for you.  You damage your client’s reputation more each day by aggressively pursuing DM’s agenda to bury TRUTH than by any TRUTH that Amy, or anyone else for that matter, might impart.

As Mr Hubbard put it: truth, though often fought, always in the end prevails.

PS: Don’t bother bitching to Amy about this post. She simply forwarded the letter for informal advice, since I had dealt with you qua DM’s lawyer in the past. I decided to post this on my own initiative, because I find your cover up tactics (particularly after being put on notice so thoroughly by me) are deplorable.

Carol Kramer

Carol Kramer is our first End of Endless OT VII completion.

She is an incredible being.  Artistic, yet unbreakable; theta, yet unyielding.

My blood brother Jason Beghe has my eternal admiration for questioning GAT from the get go, and never compromising his reality despite endless ethics, sec checking and eval and inval to get him to introvert and bend. Similarly, Carol drew the line on GAT for OTs and endured twelve years in the wilderness cut off from most friends she made during her adult life.  Yet, when she welcomed me into her Arizona highlands home she was as bright as a lighthouse on alert. No rancor, no motivating, no self-invalididation. Just pure ARCU.

As I returned home flying over the Western Texas flat lands, contemplating the wood we chopped together these words came to mind: the way out is the way up.

Carol and her Rock of Gibraltar David

Hello to all. I am truly not the type of person who tends to talk about herself. I post as “NCT,” short for Navajo Code Talker – a name a very dear friend gave to me. My name is Carol Kramer. I am OT VII, Class IV, OEC, KTL and LOC trained. Most of my training was done in the Bay Area. I left there 6 years ago just to clear my head.

I was originally attracted to the tech in order to truly help people. I spent years on tour for Flag helping enlighten others on the L’s, which for me were truly fantastic. I experienced wonderful auditors and wonderful gains.

I spent years touring with some dedicated SO Members, and headed up a Flag office in the Bay Area. I truly had some great times and met some special people. I held the post of ED at the Baton Rouge Mission when the Mission Holder would go to the FSO or ship for services. I worked for the San Diego and Miami orgs and for field groups. I even did PR for the Church in Washington, DC.

Things changed for me when the GAT came out. I said to myself, “This is truly arbitrary.” Then to hear DM make the statement that the Why had been “the blind leading the blind,” my thought was, “The only blind person here is DM.” Anything I wrote up at the time went unhandled; never a response. I waited and watched. Then I observed changes that were not the sort of thing I got in for. I saw auditors and pcs go into a very dark place. The worst memory of all was seeing my beloved Class XII auditor, Claire Reppen, die.

I knew this GAT business would not work for me. I remember thinking at the time that GAT was really just a marketing ploy: make a few non-LRH changes, repackage it, call it something new (GAT) and charge for it all over again. Hoping I was wrong about this, in 1998 I decided to try the Solo NOTs Certainty Course. To my horror, what I saw was that LRH’s tech had been thrown out and DM’s squirrel tech ushered in. If that weren’t bad enough, I saw people – from RTC staff all the way down to public – marching in lockstep to this “new brand” of Scientology. I finished the course, but did not go on to do any of the auditing. I quietly made my exit, and once again watched and waited.

Now I come to the level of Solo NOTs itself. Here is what I have observed – what is true for me:  Achieving the results of any auditing level or rundown takes what it takes. Since the arrival of GAT, I have observed a very long runway for those on Solo NOTs. No one has ever produced any LRH reference that states it takes ______ hours to complete the level. According to DM, the level took LRH 1000 hours to complete. Okay, well hey – it may have taken Ron 1000 hours of research and auditing to get through, but that doesn’t mean everyone else has to take that long. After all – he was blazing the trail, and we’re using the end result of all his research work! Imagine being told you aren’t Clear because you didn’t audit as many hours of Dianetics as LRH did while trailblazing and refining it over twenty years and then being made to carry on with intensives of NED. I can only go with the datum LRH insisted on: What is true for you is what is true for you – not what someone else tells you is true. People are being run on this never-ending rundown for one purpose: money. This is not the LRH tech I signed up for. For all of you out there who feel stuck on the level, I say be true to yourselves. There is so much of life out here to experience. When the right indication is made, you will see the difference. Your world will open up. You will come to life and live beyond what you could ever imagine while stuck in this cycle.

Hooking up with this group – independent Scientologists – has been an awesome experience for me. I am me again. Marty Rathbun is such a being of character. Seeing his granting of beingness, knowledge of the tech, and genuine caring about mankind completes the true cycle for me.

I truly know that for me not to announce who I am and what I stand for would not be freedom. I’ve realized I couldn’t ever be free without standing up for what I know freedom truly means. Marty, I cannot thank you enough. You are welcome here anytime. What you offer is true Scientology.

Heber Proof of Life

According to reliable OSA sources (excuse the oxymoron) DM has become apoplectic over being called out on his denigration and degradation of Heber.

My guess is we will see either or both of the following knee-jerks from DM:

a) Heber signs some sort of statement that condemns Mike Rinder and I as his life-long nemeses, and that lauds DM as his beloved daddy, claiming he has been consumed in such important production at Int that he could not take two minutes to talk to his son or wife (now ex, since three years of  2D radio silence was enough to prompt her to fly the coop) for the past six years.

b) Depending on Heber’s state of mind, pull him out of the hole, groom him, put him in  a suit and have him show his mug at meet and greets and minor events so as to “prove” he is alive, well, and chipper as ever.

Further prediction.  I’ll say that’s not good enough. I am going to force the issue so that Heber has to address the conditions he has been living in for the past six years.  The public can then judge for themselves whether he has any self-determinism left in him – just as they did when they got a glimpse of the six who DM hauled out of Int to harrangue Anderson Cooper.

In order to respond in a sensible fashion, Heber is going to have get briefed on what is happening out in the independent, real Scientology field. He’ll be the seventh behind the Berlin wall to get the briefing (no matter how lopsided and distorted, he’ll get a glimpse of what is really going on).

If we stay on it,  before long the seed of the hope of Freedom will have been sown in the mind of every person on the base.

Free Heber

The Heber we knew!

I know that I speak for a lot of similarly minded folk when I say that Heber Jentzsch is one of the most special  people I have met and worked with.  Mike Rinder feels the same way. Mike has written an article describing what became of Heber at the hands of Miscavige. I was witness to much of the pre-hole history he recounts. I was gone by the time Heber was jailed by Miscavige and Mike recounts that sad history. For those who knew Heber this will hurt. Sometimes, truth does hurt. But, at the end of the day, it is truth that will set us free. This particular bit of truth has motivated me to dedicate a portion of every day from here on out to freeing Heber until that is accomplished.  If some internal personnel with a conscience comes across this, please communicate to Heber that my house is his – we’ve got a room for him on the water, in a place where he can sing to his heart’s content and reconnect to the thousands who love him.

 WHERE IS HEBER?

 by Mike Rinder

After watching the AC 360 series many have wondered: “Where is Heber?”  His absence  was magnified by who Miscavige did send forth as cannon fodder to respond to his crimes:  four obviously rehearsed ex-wives who made fools of themselves by repeating lines given to them by Miscavige and received unanimous derision on the AC 360 blog;  “Teflon” Tommy Davis who has been caught in more lies than Baghdad Bob and looks more and more like (dare I say this, after he made such a big point about me selling cars for a living) a sleazy used car salesman;  and a bored, disinterested looking NON Scientologist tax attorney there to field the “tough” questions about Scientology tech and policy that Tommy couldn’t handle.  As everyone knows,  Heber is far more accomplished, competent and likeable than any of Miscavige’s new puppets.

So, where is Heber? Why isn’t he out there representing the C of M?

The answer is simple:  Miscavige hates Heber.  He has said many times that Heber portrays the wrong image of “his” Church.  Heber is too old (but not too old to send to the Hole….).  Heber doesn’t feel the need to dress like a window mannequin for Barney’s.   Heber is “stupid”.  And Heber knows too much.  Unlike Teflon Tommy,  who was never at Int, Heber has not only witnessed Miscavige brand physical and mental abuse ™, he has experienced it firsthand.  Miscavige cannot afford to put Heber front and center because he might just tell the truth.  And I know how that goes – me having to lie to the BBC about Miscavige beating people was the straw that broke the camel’s back and I walked out while in London.   (So much for me being removed from all positions of authority and kicked out by Miscavige when he found out all the terrible things I had done – I was the International Spokesperson for the Church and on the Board of CSI when I blew.  It is true, I didn’t have a post – but then again NOBODY in management did, and it appears to be that way still as Guillaume Lesevre was presented at the “Barnum and Bailey” March 13th spectacle  as “from International Management”  rather than “ED International” because he hasn’t been on post for at least 5 years!).

Heber bore the brunt of much of Miscavige’s ire over the years.  I have seen Miscavige strike Heber on at least 10 occasions.  Miscavige had dolls made in the likeness of Heber (and me).  These were very elaborate reproductions that looked like ventriloquists dolls.  Miscavige would make Heber sit with the doll on his lap and Miscavige would address himself to the doll instead of talking to Heber directly.  This was to demonstrate the “fact” that Miscavige thought Heber “wooden” and “unresponsive.”  (Anyone who knows Heber can attest to how ridiculous this is).  It is all part of Miscavige’s Joking & Degrading and constant denigration of people around him, especially those he considered were some form of threat (and Heber’s popularity with staff and public was a very real threat in Miscavige’s eyes).

The dolls were even flown to the UK for the IAS event where Heber endured endless cruel bullbaiting at the hands of Miscavige.  I only saw Heber snap once, when after hours of Miscavige brand taunting and belittling ™, Miscavige squirted Heber’s face and glasses with contact lense fluid and then blew powdered coffee creamer into his face. This is the level of behavior of the so called “leader” of Scientology.

But that wasn’t all that happened at IAS event time.  Heber, along with myself and Guillaume Lesevre were assigned to MEST work.   It was surreal, donning a tuxedo to do an international event and then a boilersuit to do MEST work in the woods next to the Saint Hill Manor lake.  And then being thrown fully clothed in the lake (in November).  Miscavige then decided it wasn’t good enough to be “hidden” by the lake and moving us to do MEST work next to the Stables where all Saint Hill staff walked to eat their meals.  It was there that Heber slipped on a log, fell and quite badly injured himself.  Of course, Miscavige blamed that on Heber’s “out ethics”.  (And just a final note on the UK, not really on topic – Guillaume Lesevre and I were assigned to clean the toilets and sweep the halls in AOSHUK , watched over by Security Guards – plenty of public witnessed this).

Heber is banned by Miscavige from making any public appearances and isn’t allowed  to be in Int events any longer.   So, he has become a “non-person” and is kept out of sight at the Int base.

Heber was the first person from outside the Int base to be sentenced to the Hole.  He was there when I left in March 2007, and for all I know, is still there. I do know NOBODY has heard from him for years.  And while he was in the Hole, regardless of his years of service and his progressing age, he was treated like everyone else:  living in the CMO Int trailer along with 100 others, sleeping on the floor, eating standing up in an office with no tables and chairs and only leaving for 20 minutes once a day for a communal shower in the garage  (unless DM was around, in which case some days there were no showers as nobody wanted to risk DM seeing the SPs in the Hole being frog-marched by security to the garage because it would “enturbulate”  him – though he demanded daily reports to keep track of “juicy” admissions coerced out of people).   Heber was stood in front of the 100 people and “forced” to confess (an activity which I am ashamed to say I took part in) and then derided about his Mormon upbringing and his relationships with other religious leaders (he was labeled a squirrel).  Heber never complained though he was the most senior person in the Hole and the living conditions took a greater toll on him than anyone.

And like everyone else, he was not allowed to communicate with anyone outside the Hole at all.  Not even his own family.  And that for Heber was perhaps the hardest thing to endure.  Anyone who knows Heber knows above all else his high communication level and how many friends he has made over many years.  He is loved by so many because it is impossible to know him and not see the goodness in his heart and his real concern for the well-being of others.  I believe the cutting of his comm lines was the greatest penalty Miscavige could impose on him.

And I must also note that while virtually every prominent executive left in Scientology has put their name on perjured declarations saying that all that has been exposed about Miscavige’s reign of terror ™ is lies, there has been no word from Heber.  When you stoop to the bottom of the rotten barrel to trot out ex-wives to respond to allegations of mental and physical abuse by Miscavige, isn’t it odd that the person with perhaps the most credibility with Scientologists and with the media ISNT heard from?

So, why is he still there?  Well, read the excellent blog by “Back to Life” recently posted on Scientology-cult which incisively explains the circumstances and mindset that keeps good people chained inside a bad scene. And beyond that, Heber is getting extra-special attention.  Because of his popularity and credibility, he has to be kept out of sight.  Imagine the nightmare for Miscavige if Heber was ever freed and able to speak his mind?

That is why you don’t see Heber.

And yes, something DOES need to be done about it.  He is 76 years old, has served LRH and Scientology with distinction and dedication for many decades and in the winter of his body’s life should be living a peaceful existence, pursuing activities that give him pleasure.

So, if you have an opportunity, ask Scientologists, the media, law enforcement or anyone else who may have an interest:  “Where is Heber Jentzsch, the President CSI?”

FREE HEBER!

My only comment is reference to L Ron Hubbard’s words from the lecture Overt Acts, Motivators and Deds (lecture #8) Technique 88 Lectures 25 June 1952:

When you speak of the creator, and you’re probably speaking of something entirely different than implanted religion. Religion is always different than truth. It has to be. Because the only way you can control a people is to lie to them. And you can write that down in your book there-very big letters. The only way you can control anybody is to lie to them-lie to them.

All right, now look. When you find an individual is lying to you, you know that the individual is trying to control you. You can put that down. One way or the other, this individual is trying to control you. That’s a mechanism of control. The individual is lying to you, so they’re trying to control you. Because if they give you enough misinformation they’ll throw you far enough down the Tone Scale so they can control you.

Conversely, if you see an impulse on the part of a human being to control you, you know very well that that human being is lying to you. Not is just going to-but IS lying to you. Check up the facts, you’ll find out they’re always true. That person is trying to control you, he’s lying to you. He’s got to tell you lies, in order to continue to control, because the second you start telling anybody anything close to truth, you start releasing him, and he gets tougher and tougher to control.  So you can’t control somebody, without telling them a bunch of fibs.

You’ll find that command has this very often as its greatest weakness.  It’ll try to control instead of lead. And the next thing you know, it’s lying to the crew, lying to the crew lie, lie, lie, lie, lie. And it gets worse and worse, then all of a sudden the thing blows up.

Well religion has done this. Organized religion, tries to control, so therefore it must be lying, and therefore it must know it’s lying-after a while it figures out that even itself knows it’s lying. And then it starts on down the Tone Scale and gets further and further and further and people all of a sudden get down across this spring bottom and-‘Are we going into apathy and die or are we going to revolt?’ And they will revolt. You can only lie to people so long. But fortunately-unfortunately, there’s always a new cycle of lying.

As I use the word religion, it has nothing to do with God.
