Steve and Ariel Spargo Declare Independence

To:  All Scientologists

From: Steve and Ariel Spargo

Date:   10 Sept 2012

Subject:       Resignation From Church of Scientology

Earlier this year I woke up to the fact that our Church management has over time departed wildly from LRH policy and HCOB’s and that the entire spirit and survival of the movement is under threat

Ariel and I believe that the Church of Scientology has become a totalitarian activity dominated by RTC, where parishioners ignore policies like Safeguarding Technology and Keeping Scientology Working in the interest of avoiding trouble.  There is no freedom within the Church to discuss whether or not a particular program adheres to policy.  Current programs have serious flaws and will not take the Church where we want it to go.

Unquestioning acceptance and money are now the priorities in Scientology and we don’t like it.

It’s obvious that management feel free to alter successful LRH programs and come up with travesties  like GAT.  It feels like fingernails on a blackboard when my friends cheerfully say “Yes, but GAT 2 is going to fix that.”  They are right back where I was for most of the last 35 years.  I had an excuse for everything.

I have never thought it necessary to say this before. But I require my Church to be motivated by the Aims of Scientology and to adhere to LRH policy and tech.  That has always been the condition of my support.

In view of the major departures we are witnessing, and the antipathy towards doing anything about it, I and my wife Ariel have decided to withdraw our support and resign from the Church.

What Now?

Although we no longer support the Church of Scientology, my wife and I are Scientologists and wish to continue practising our religion.  However we know that the Church will now call us “squirrels” and say we are not allowed to practise Scientology without their permission.

In the past, I have been completely taken in by the Church appearing to strongly support Human Rights.  Now I know it was just a public relations sham.  In fact, there is no freedom of religion in Scientology.   It’s completely authoritarian.

I would rather let bygones be bygones and leave the Church to its own devices.  Live and let live.

But we all know that the Church routinely uses legal action, infiltration and public attacks to insist dissenting Scientologists either give up practising their religion or forge an alliance with Scientology critics.  For Ariel and I, it’s a choice we should not be forced to make.

Ron always said that wisdom was for anyone who reached for it and that there should be no monopoly on the subject.  This is just one more point where the current Church management disagrees with Ron.

To Church management we have only one thing left to say.  Don’t call us, we’ll call you.

Scientology And Saving The World

In 1950 L. Ron Hubbard burst onto the scene tackling the attainment of the ends of Eastern spiritualism with the practicality mindset of Western materialism.   He developed two related subjects toward that end, Dianetics, and its outgrowth, Scientology.  Within two to three years he had described in pratical English terms having seen the universal truths as outlined in the Vedas and in the Tao Te Ching.  He also described modern exercises that he discovered and developed to bring others to that experience.  He spent the rest of his life attempting to undercut the route so that virtually anyone from any station in life or of whatever educational background could traverse it.  In that effort to reach and effect all, matters eventually became complicated.  An insidious parallel to helping and saving all peoples of earth evolved throughout Scientology writings.  That is, the stress became not so much to make Scientology accessible to everybody as much as to make Scientology mandatory for everyone.  This approach led to a type of dual personality for the subject.  On the one hand it intended to release an individual from the restraints of life and to restore freedom of choice.  On the other hand, it usurped freedom of choice and imposed restraints in the attempt to get every person there.

Control and restraint themes developed throughout Scientology writings.  It was justified by the repeated idea that Dianetics and Scientology contain the answers to every problem and every question that every person ever faced; with the repeated emphatic idea that no one else has anything of use to contribute to those answers.  The theme was evident in a substantial body of proselytization and ethics policy that justified any means necessary to leading the clueless to the only show in town. These policies dedicatedly applied wound up appealing to a broad spectrum of people as intended.  That included people who wanted to communicate better, to find their sanity, to improve memory, to sell more, to be more successful, to have more meaningful relationships, to make more money, to dominate and control others, to reach higher states of spiritual awareness, to be more powerful, to get off drugs, to learn how to study, and even to reach immortality.  In promoting to all those looking for these answers and more, and representing to those publics that those wants were all that Scientology was interested in helping them with, all the while intending and organizing to direct such people toward ultimately making Scientology the answer to everything weaved a strain of fraud into the woof and warp of its organizations.

Fraud requires as its central element the making of a misrepresentation that the communicator knows is false.   In the case of Scientology, the recurrent, systemic knowing lie has nothing to do with the lack of efficacy of Scientology itself. When a Scientologist tells somebody that Scientology contains the answer to his problem, as well as every answer to every problem that person will ever face, that Scientologist believes that representation implicitly. The knowing misrepresentation that virtually every Scientologist is guilty of making over and over again is that whatever particular problem a seeker wants solved is the only problem the Scientology organization is interested in solving.  In fact, Scientology scripture very methodically details how to use the solving of a particular problem as the bait to be switched toward creating a new bigger problem for the bait biter to pursue.  Scientologists will vehemently protest my use of words such as “misrepresentation” and “fraud.”   But, the fact of the matter is that many of the significant problems that have nagged or lessened the reach of Scientology organizations stemmed from this inculcated lie.

This is not to say that Scientology does not contain the tools to solve every problem every person faces.  A trained Scientologist is well equipped to solve a wide variety of human problems.   In fact, selflessly and ethically practiced Scientology does wonders in putting a person into a position where he or she is well equipped to resolve any problem he or she may encounter.  However, in carrying out Scientology policy that requires everlasting steadfast loyalty and fealty to the organization, the organization is hard-wired to ensure a person never believes he or she is so equipped. It is quite a trick.  In order to enforce that fealty and loyalty – and its concomitant, escalating contributions -there must always be something more wrong with the person being handled. And so, all too often a fellow works his way up the Scientology gradients of enlightenment for decades, spending hundreds of thousands of dollars in the pursuit of the promised state of ‘cause over life.’   In virtually every case the fellow winds up being convinced to spend several tens or hundreds of thousands more to find out and solve why he never made the vaunted state of ‘cause over life.’

Again, this is not to say that the methods of Scientology cannot produce such a state.  It is to say that the effectiveness of Scientology is never realized because of the original, well-embedded lie that Scientology organizations are not interested in anything other than providing help with whatever is troubling the person who reaches for help.  Intead, the organzations are constructed on the principle that once a person checks in, he or she never checks out.  Individuals connected to Scientology organizations are programmed to find another problem to solve for the seeker.  If they cannot find one, they manufacture it. Let’s examine more closely how it works in practice.

Let us say that a fellow wants to overcome problems with communication.   Scientology offers and delivers a course on communication that thousands have extolled the virtues of.  However, Scientology Inc. staff are bound by policy that prohibits the leaving of good enough alone.  It penalizes staff who fail to immediately ‘re-sign’ anyone who successfully completes a course.   While the course might be a complete success in the eyes of the person who took it, it is an utter failure as far the organization is concerned if that same person does not immediately open his wallet and lay down more money for more expensive courses or pricey personalized counseling.  Again, that is not to say that the expensive courses and counseling are not worthy.  It is to say that Scientology organizations are prohibited by their scripture from ever leaving good enough alone.  They operate on policy that uses Scientology’s knowledge of the mind to manipulate all those who complete course or counseling services to re-sign for more expensive future services.

Scientologists are blind to the bait and switch nature of their own day to day operations for a couple reasons.  First, they justify the hustle by the efficacious results that Scientology services can and do deliver.  Second, that justification is reinforced and complicated by a steady indoctrination into the idea that mankind is doomed, non-Scientologists are worse than aimless, and the only answers to everything – including immortality – are covered only in Scientology.

It might be that Scientology’s greatest sin stems from its greatest original virtue.  It might be that the policy discussed herein was initially developed out of an abiding, strong urge to salvage humankind.  However, like every movement throughout humankind’s history that has begun perpetrating harm once it is convinced it is the only one capable of ‘saving the world’, organized Scientology seems to have perfected the art of ‘controlling’ in the name of ‘freeing.’

This state of affairs led to my posing the question, ‘is organized religion an oxymoron?’

Being someone who finds tremendous value in the Buddha’s philosophy of the Great Middle Path, and L. Ron Hubbard’s use of infinity logic (there are no absolutes but instead an infinity of gradients at either side of 0 on any scale), I am interested in hearing peoples’ views as to the answer to the question posed.

UPDATE:

As a couple at least have challenged me to show any evidence whatsoever that Scientology Policy encourages bait and switch trickery, I picked up the 1140 page policy volume Scientology on sales and within a couple minutes found the two exerpts below.  The first is from Policy Letter entitled HANDLING THE PUBLIC INDIVIDUAL:
Example: Miss N has heard of processing.  She wants some.  She never did DECIDE to want some.  She just wants some. Now to ask her to decide ANYTHING about it blunts that purpose.  It is a thin purpose.  It quivers.  Don’t ask her does she want a book or want training or want a pin or want anything else. Say only, ‘Ah. You want processing.  That’s a good thing to want.  Be here Monday and bring ________ funds.’  That’s all. If she says timidly, “I only have _____ funds,” say, “Good. Bring them; you can owe the rest.  Be here on Monday.  In short MAKE Miss N RIGHT for WANTING, thus intensifying the want.  Make her RIGHT when she talks about money.  Then, being right she CAN come in Monday.  Simple.  Chances are, even if she works, she’ll still come in.  When she comes in she says, ‘I’m Miss N.  I’m here for my processing.’  Reception MUST say, “Ah.  You’re Miss N. Good. There’s the Accounts widow.  Sign up there.’ The Accounts says, ‘Here’s the slip.  Sign here.  Take the slip to Room _____.’  Reception says, ‘This way Miss N.’  Estimations says, “let me have your Accounts receipt.  Good.  That’s fine. Have you been processed before?  No?  Well, you soon will be.  This way please.  Your auditor is waiting.” The auditor says, “Over here, please,’ adjusts the pc’s chairs, etc., and sits down and says, “Start of session.”  At its end he says, ‘Be in this room at _______’ for Miss N’s next.  And so on.  When she gets her grade certificate she’s told, ‘That means you’re a Grade I preclear.  Get the book ____________down in Reception.  It will tell you all about Grade II.’  Miss N throughout is NEVER anything but 8-Ced. The general promotion told her what to want by saying she could HAVE it.  She expresses the want.  The org people say, “That’s a good thing to want.  You can have it.  And gives it to her.  That’s all. Just as you’d never ask a pc which command he wanted, you never as the public individual to decide.  You can teach them anything, particularly the truth.  But never ask them to decide.  By processing up the grades, this person will soon begin to see and be there and understand and decide.  And she’ll surely decide she’s a Scientologist, as it’s true all the way!’
Now, combine that with HCOPL 28 DECEMBER 1978 USE OF BIG LEAGUE SALES:
The caper is to assume the individual has already chosen to buy a specific item and then to get him to make some minor choice about it which involves him and makes him assume he has decided to purchase it.  It is a technique to bypass a large decision.  EXAMPLE: Person hasn’t decided to have processing, salesman ignores that and asks him if he wants his auditing afternoons or evenings.  The guy says evenings and forgets to notice he hasn’t decided to be processed in the first place.

The Waterkamps Declare Independence

Gerhard Waterkamp and his family are living testament to the power of the Code of Honor.   They stood up to the German government and now they are standing up to its latest alter ego – corporate Scientology.

The Waterkamps

I was born and raised in Germany in a roman catholic family. At age 14 I cognited that the Roman Catholic church was in the majority not a spiritual organization concerned with the advancement of the spiritual aspects of humanity, but an organization with the purpose of controlling populations. There were a lot of good Christian people in the church and I loved some of the monks in the Dominican order I where I served as an Altar boy and ran youth groups for the church. But really, the church was just there as a control operation. So I forfeited my life in heaven and exchanged it for an eternity in hell – at least that is what my priest told me when I told him I was quitting his operation. I hurt my mother as she was a strong believer in catholic doctrines and I am sorry for that.  But it was more important to me to act on my principles and convictions than to take heed of other’s feelings, not to mention threats of eternal fire and other scary stuff. As a young kid in postwar Germany you were still very directly confronted with the horrors of war and the holocaust. And there was one question on my mind: How in the world could good and decent people stand by when their jewish neighbors were put on a transport and killed? The answer eluded me for more than 40 years.

But that was it for me on spiritualism. My mind was set, it was all a fraud. On a vacation trip 1979 in Portland Oregon somebody dragged me and my girlfriend into a building, made me fill out answers to 200 questions and then sat me down to look at a graph. Oh boy, was I screwed up. The lady looked me in the eyes and said: “you are a spirit”. I just went, ‘hey stay away from me with the ghost stuff, but what do you have to fix this screwed up graph?’ She mentioned the Dianetics book and wanted to sell me one. 1980 back in Germany I finally bought it and read it in 3 days. I was fascinated. This guy Hubbard understood everything I had read from Wilhelm Reich, Erich Fromm and what I knew from my dabbling in some of the eastern philosophies and Baghwan/Osh.  Not only that, this Hubbard guy was able to operationalize the data so you could do something practical with them. I was hooked.

I joined Scientology and the Bremen Mission as part time PRO (Public Relation Officer). There was this huge misconception about Scientology in Germany and I wanted to do something about it. So I went to all the public enemies of Scientology in the area, introduced myself, explained what Scientology is and left my card in case of any questions. That was 1980 and the world was good. I did auditor training in the mission and the grades and Scientology changed my life for the better. I married, brought my wife into Scientology and she became a very successful course supervisor in the mission. There were no PR issues in Bremen and the Bremen Mission was the only one recognized with a special non profit status. No attacks, we just had a good time; quite an untypical picture for Germany at that time.

Gerhard and Sabine back in the day

I really enjoyed the tech just a few things were off. If there would be such a thing as an insanity meter (like a Geiger counter just counting insanity particles) there would be an interesting phenomenon. The higher you went up management lines (not public or tech lines), the more insane it became. This thing would start with a quiet happy humming in the Mission over to a sound of a male cat in heat while in Hamburg Org to an outright concert of a dozen foghorns in Kopenhagen. These sea org recruiters that came to the mission were plain nuts and the IAS regges borderline violent insane. I experienced the slaughter of Wiebke Hansen, whom I knew very well when she was ED of Hamburg Org. David Miscavige made a draconian example of her and most was kept from public, but I knew her and people very close to her well and saw much of the bloodshed.

I loved the tech and saw it work; the nuisance of Scientology management was something one had to put up with. Nothing is perfect. So I issued a personal restraining order for all IAS regges and ignored recruiters. My wife and I went up the bridge to OTVII and I did my L’s, trained up to NED auditor and some OEC. We did Clear to OTVII at FLAG. Again I loved the tech, but the management at FLAG was insane. I was at the level of CFO for large corporations at that time in my career and the PR situation in Germany got really catastrophic (and worsened from there). Federal government officials at minister level told the German industry they should not have Scientologists in management. The stuff that was going on would make a witchhunt look like a stroll in the park. It was enough to read the Dianetic book to get fired from a job of some importance as happened to a trainer of the German Olympic fencing team. The hysteria in Germany grew wild. All fueled by a grossly misbehaving church and interested parties like the German Verfassungschutz which faced dissolution when the wall came down and they were in urgent need of a new enemy image to justify their existence, or Ursula Caberta a politician who saw this as a vehicle for her own self importance and getting taxpayer funding. I had the opportunity to befriend another big name critic in Germany much later. Renate Hartwig had written several anti Scientology books and was one of the most influential critics of her time. When I talked with her we found out the Verfassungschutz works even dirtier than OSA. No kidding – it is possible- but she wrote a book about that after we came to know each other and stopped her attacks on Scientology.

There was no differentiation (as there is now) between Scientology as a religious philosophy and Scientology as an organization. So as a public who participated in Scientology as a path of spiritual enrichment you were automatically branded with all the hysteria created against the church. I hoped (as it often turned out), that when people knew me and my family, they would recognize that the hysteria is not true and I hoped I could get some credit for good work and by setting a personal example.

Oh gee, was I wrong. 1995 a few weeks before I was to be announced the CEO of a 5000 person division of a large multinational manufacturer, the roman catholic church finally got even with me for deserting them as an altar boy. A roman catholic priest got a hold of a FLAG magazine listing my wife and me as OT VI completions and passed it to my employer. A few days later I was escorted by security out of the building. The owners wrote me a letter stating how disappointed they were, as per their own words, I had been one of their most energetic and productive executives and how in the world could I do it to them to be involved in Scientology.

Shortly thereafter the German Verfassungsschutz contacted one of my sisters with an offer: Work with us against Scientology and all is forgotten and forgiven.

Darn it, principles and convictions can be such a bitch.

Here I was, without means to support my family, publicly ousted as a bad guy and practically blacklisted from management positions in Germany. But here comes fate in the form of the US government to the rescue. We won the green card lottery! Next we were going through medical exams, background checks and other fun activities to be finally able to enter the US legally and permanently in August of 1996.

The Waterkamps come to America

When I had a job and money I got calls every day from the church to give money. When I was destroyed and still stood by my religion – silence. There is one individual though I want to thank. Maria Robb, she gave us our first job to get started in the US. She and her husband are nice and very decent people, too bad they are not looking. Maria, if you read this, if you ever need help, you have an open invitation, I owe you one.

From 1993 to 1996 I audited on OTVII and felt in1996 I was done, but Flag was again in turmoil and the C/S did not know what to do. I guess they were working on the re-release of OTVII at that time. I also noticed increasing outpoints with the church. There were falsehoods wherever you looked. I gave $45,000 starting in 1993 for Super Power because Bruce and Charmaine told me they needed the money to finish the building and release Super Power in two years’ time. I saw the importance and wanted to help. I visited Bruce about 7 years later and when I asked him why isn’t Super Power released yet he enthusiastically told me that COB is now involved and redoing and redesigning the whole interior and there will be wonderful statues. He clearly ignored the blank look on my face and definitely discounted the good state of my memory as I vividly recalled him telling me the urgent vital need for the money to release Super Power 7 years earlier. The statements of the church and the actual facts were just not adding up. 10,000 on OTVII makes no sense with the delivery model that everyone has to show up every 6 months in Florida. But the delivery model makes a lot of sense if you want a steady stream of prospects you can knock over for money. While the OT materials are downloadable with a Google search and are public domain, a pre OT had to go through a ever more complex procedure of locks and allowed locations for the materials for “security”. With the help of Murphy’s law this will lead either to paranoia or sure liability assignments, because the lock of one of the snappers on the briefcase in the locked cabinet in the locked office of the locked house was not locked. Oh boy, people in such a liability are an easy job for regges. As my favorite DofP and Reg the late Hy Levi said in the Truth Rundown. “It is all about the money.” Once you understood this, a lot of the insanity made sense.

I could tell hundreds of observations I made during 1988 and 1996 at Flag. I spent more than a year there, but it all adds up to this: The statements made by church officials do not match what is done.

During this time I was at a great point with OTVII and I had to rebuild my life in the US. I figured I would focus on that and all will sort out for the good, just give them more time. I hate to admit how wrong I was.

On another note I am a strong believer in human rights. So I went to Leisa Goodman the human rights director in the church in Los Angeles and told her: “If the Church is so for human rights, why don’t we do anything against the human rights violations in Germany?” Six weeks later Leisa came back and we started working on several media projects. During this time I met Mike Rinder and Heber Jentzsch on many occasions. We met Tommy Davis, Isaac Hayes, John Travolta and Chick Chorea when we testified in front of a government committee about human rights violations in Germany. And I am grateful to all of them for this. It is my fierce conviction that no government has the right to  the prejudicial treatment of an individual based on his or her membership – or perceived membership – in a certain group or category as the German government is doing.

Heber with the Waterkamp girls

My oldest daughter became involved in Youth for Human rights and was named President for this organization. One day she came home and said she had resigned from it because she felt she was used just as a puppet and her role was just fake. She did not want this as it felt like a lie.

Time went by. My daughters both went to Delphi LA and graduated form 8 and took off to college. Which brings us close to present time.

John Travolta and the Waterkamps Advocating for Human Rights

In January I read in a German online magazine that Debbie Cook had written anemail. Anyway, it was about time to pick up my spiritual path that I had postponed in the hope the insanity would be finished and I would have a smooth ride. So I started to check up where the church is. Of course over the years I got hundreds of calls to buy the basics, do this, do that but I told them I do stuff when I am ready and that is all I have to say. So here I am reading the different websites and oh my god, it has gotten much worse. In 1996 the church was more misleading than really flat out lying. When I watched the Truth Rundown I knew first hand what was true and what wasn’t. And everybody on those videos gave their viewpoint correctly and gave the truth. I then read the statements of the church and they were flat out utter lies. Denying the undeniable. I saw the church had completely lost it. Not because of what the critics said, but in the responses of the church. Freedom mag had become solely hate pages s consisting of character assassinations. I was used to Leisa Goodman and Andrew Milne who cared about facts and while I felt they were under undue pressure at times, would never turn this kind of garbage out that the church put up on their websites.

So I started more thorough research. Anybody can write stuff on a website, it was time for independent verification. Just one example of what I discovered. I found out and got it first hand how the church had taken a friend of mine for over $100,000.00 in sec checks, because he had mentioned critical thoughts about David Miscavige. And the church did not stop there. They were in the process of breaking up his family after 40 years of marriage. Daughter turning on father, wife turning on husband all in the name of the church. It was heartbreaking to see how the church was degrading decent human beings into being scared, robotic and confused individuals. The wife had done OTVIII twice and was in complete obedience to the church and treason to her husband of 40 years, all just because he could not take the treatment he was given any longer. The family had agreed for 4 years not to talk about Scientology matters so nobody could write knowledge reports about each other. Here is the hammer, they are a field auditors group highly trained in PTS SP tech and did nothing else in their day to day life than Scientology.

While the tech that I studied was designed to bring about spiritual freedom, the current church uses it to make slaves. They want control, they need obedience and to own you so they can own your money. I am not as highly technically trained as others, but I can observe the products the church puts out these days. After 4 months I came to the conclusion the church has morphed into a fascistic organization that destroys lives. The final end product of this church is enslaved individuals, destroyed families, destroyed relationships: in short, destroyed lives. I saw this over and over and over during my research. It was not the exception, for anybody having temporary gains there were 10 disasters. The church arbitrarily applies policy where it fits their purpose to cover up their crimes. There is no honest application of green on white or red on white anymore.

So I knew what was coming, when I sent a request to Flag and other Scientology organizations for a return of my unused money. They can live with the fact that I talk to Marty, Mike and Karen. They cannot live with the fact that I want the money back that they owe me per their own policy.

Which brings us to present time. This morning the rumor mill started and the facebook police went into action:

“Sorry to tell you Sabine Waterkamp got declared a few days ago. I have unfriended her and also blocked her on Facebook. I suggest you do the same.

Any questions? Call Daniel, Chief MAA at Flag, (727) 423-1269. That’s how I learned of the sad event.

ML, Sandee”

The irony is this this email is sent around to our friends by Sandee Ferman. Sandee was fired from Delphi Academy a few years ago because she was involved in massive fraud by falsifying statistics at Delphi Academy for years which brought the school to the brink of disaster. The church has to use known frauds these days to do their dirty work.

As expected nobody from the church has informed us.  They are too cowardly to confront us. Nobody has shown us any declare, no committee of evidence, nothing. Hi Freya, if you are still at OSA and read this our fax is 818-951-7352. You should send us at least a copy so we know what we are accused off.

Now get this, when Sandee was asked for more information this is the response:

Daniel, Chief MAA at Flag, reports they connected up with unfriendlies and started speaking out against the Church. They also requested refunds. It was pretty clear to me. I just got off the phone with him. I gave you his cell phone number.

But I got even better; the church called the step father of Jake Leistra, a young man who was the boyfriend of my youngest daughter. We took him into our house for some time and helped him also financially, while his parents were giving him in his own words no money at all.  He ate our food, slept in our guest bed, drove our cars and got any support we could give. We even took him on occasional vacation trips paid for him no questions asked. When he had to move his furniture we carried it with him and let him use our cars. So his stepfather, who does not support Jake with any money at all (Jake’s own words), tells him we were declared and sends him to AOLA.  Jake went to AOLA and got a SP declare shown and reports back to my daughter that the declare states Sabine and I are talking to undesirables and that I asked for a refund of unused money on account. Oh, by the way, they not only showed him this declare, they showed him the disconnection policies and worked him over. After that,  Jake (like a little spineless marsh mellow), rolled over and made himself a doormat. He called my daughter on the phone telling her he needs to break up with her because her parents are declared. The church even breaks up girlfriend and boyfriend, and robs a young man of the opportunities for a better life.

Chick Corea: Wake Up! Your little helpers in arms in the fight for Human Rights are having their own violated by your ‘church’ at this moment

So here it is, the church confirms on official lines, that when they are asked per their own policy to repay money that they hold for parishioners they pull out a declare to avoid paying it. It is all about the money. Not to mention they confirm they have a disconnection policy.

Not that I care what the church does. The church has less moral authority than the gopher in our front yard to assign me anything. I do not give notorious liars and suppressives any importance. The church has proven through their own hate websites and their many documented crimes against human beings, their corruption of Scientology technology with the effect of destroying and suppressing human beings and their constant blatant violations of policy that they are in treason to LRH, the goals of Scientology and all of mankind.

I am a Scientologist and I stood up for my religion against discrimination in Germany and I will stand up for my religion against a suppressive group like the current Church of Scientology. I am an independent Scientologist.

But I need to thank the church for helping me to answer the question I had on my mind for 40 years. How could Nazi Germany and the Holocaust happen?

Obviously you need to put up a higher purpose, like saving the aryan race or saving the planet. A lot of good, willing people will come and really help with this positive goal. Then you put them into a pressure cooker, military drill, sleep deprivation and work them really hard. Next you make it a crime to receive any other communication than the one approved by dear Fuehrer and work them even harder, then you shoot some of them for the just and good cause (to save the aryan race or the planet or whatever your item is) or just beat them up publicly to instill fear. And you keep that up for some time and everybody who says “wait a minute” is sent to the death camp or RPF and you end up with a group of robots that stop thinking and do the most incredible things like killing other human beings just for a different opinion, race or skin color.

To my friends still in the church: It takes people with spine and knowing the price of freedom to prevent this from happening.

My beautiful and wonderful wife of 26 years, Sabine, who went with me through all of this, claims number 357 on the Indy 500 list and I’d like to be 358.

BONUS addition – Gerhard’s letter to the Flag MAA:

Open letter to Chief MAA Flag Land Base

Dear Daniel, It came to my attention that you started to dramatize your PTSnes on my and my family’s communication lines. First I want to alert you to the fact that I as a Scientologist resign from the Church of Scientology as said church has abandoned the goals and the creed of Scientology as laid out by L. Ron Hubbard. I am in full support of the religious philosophy of Scientology but the current Church of Scientology demonstrates through their actions on a daily basis their disdain for the tech, policy and basic human decency and should not be allowed to have the word Scientology as part of their name. You are sending local operatives to contact friends and acquaintances of me and my family and spread vicious lies about us. I sent your operative Sandee Ferman a cease and desist notice and if this is not immediately complied with I will file in court against her and the church civilly for harassment and start also criminal proceedings. I also demand that you immediately cease and desist in all activities directed against me, my familiy, my business, and my business and social relationships.  In the event that you choose not to cease and desist, or in any other manner, choose to retaliate against me, or any of my business associates, including vendors with which I have done business, I am prepared to protect my legal rights to the maximum extent permitted by law, including a civil action and a request for punitive damages. Secondly any Tortious Interference with prospective economic advantage of mine or with contractual relationships of our business with clients and vendors entitles me to economic losses, and damages for mental distress and since I can prove malice on your part I will also be entitled to punitive damages.  I am fully aware that you and your agents are in contact with one of my business associates spreading lies about me and will monitor the situation and if you do not stop the tortious interference I will put your and the churches ethics in on that. Since FLAG does not have enough ethics and decency to respond to justified and on policy refund request, but elects to start a smear campaign against me and my family, this constitutes willful infliction of emotional pain for which I will have to obtain damages as well in a separate lawsuit. Here is a suggestion, before you end up in the RPF of the RPF because in your PTSnes you are currently screwing this up beyond belief: apply correct ethics for a change. Put in Ethics at Flag, so that FLAG as an organization applies the refund policy correctly and ethically as laid out by LRH in HCOPL 23 October 1963, REFUND POLICY. Do the same to CCInt and the Super Power project. Bruce and Charmaine obtained fraudulently funds from me with the help of outright lies and deception. I am not interested in a fight with the church. The church has made itself completely and utterly irrelevant for me personally and for society as a whole. With their predatory regging practices, outright PR lies to cover up their crimes people are defecting in droves. Your church is more a laughing stock than anything of importance. No wonder it ranks in polls in the US in reputation even under radical Muslims.  Fighting the church is a waste of time and energy and attention units. Fighting the abuses and crimes committed by this church though is necessary to keep an ethics presence and control your dramatizations. You may not know this. I fought side by side with the president of the Church of Scientology Heber Jentzsch against abuses and human rights violations of the German government and gave my career to protect my religion. Do not make the mistake to think I let the church get away with abuses against me, my family or my business.  The church put my friend Heber Jentzsch into the hole and he failed to look through the lies and deceit put up by David Miscavige and his enablers. I am still defending Scientology this time against an abusive and corrupt church against the enemy from within. So get your ethics in and handle your PTS situation and get ethics in on this cycle. Pay me the money back that is owed to me and stop this nonsense. That is your job and what LRH expects from. Not to instigate smear campaigns, that is what crooks are doing. If you want to check out of the Sea Org and its insanity I will help you to get your life together.

Shreff Sets Flag MAA Straight

For having protested David Miscavige’s systematic distmantling of the church 0f Scientology, Mark Shreffler is now being subjected to a systematic black PR campaign by Scientology Inc.  Mark is actively challenging accusations about him to his friends emanating from Flag (Scientology Inc’s “mecca”).   A letter he recently sent to a Flag MAA (Master at Arms – the Ethics Officer) evidences just how deep the rabbit hole of falsehoods goes in corporate Scientology.  It also sums up very accurately how Miscavige has decimated Scientology Inc.

AO FSO MAA (Slavka)                                                                      August 2, 2012

Mark Shreffler

Dear Slavka,

The latest rumor is that the “dead agent” handling used at the FSO for my friends regarding me is that “Mark’s questions were answered but he did not like the answers he got.” This puts everyone on the wrong scent, and many will not recognize the smell because they are trusting and honorable people who would never think that their most trusted terminals in the church would lie to their faces.  Yet, they remain hung up at Doubt. How can an OT with 38 years of highly commended service suddenly go postal and walk away from his friends and colleagues, refusing viable answers to his questions?

Of course the implication here is that I am the one who needs the correction and not the squirrel activities I have been reporting and trying to address.

I’ve realized, with these “r-factors” you have given to my friends, the degree to which third party has been used as a “management tool.”  OSA personnel are quite expert with this device. Their normal operating basis seems to be, from what I can determine, deception.  This is to such a degree that I’m actually concerned about them personally.  It’s like continually postulating trouble!

It causes the actual problems to persist as these lies entered in to the scene make impossible an as-isness of the dilemma.

It is made easier for you, I suppose, by the fact that my friends know that if they call me on the phone to get my side of the story, they’ll be punished for doing so and be driven to huge amounts of expense and dev-t.  You threaten their lifestyles and family harmony, and they forget what Ron went through to make the tech available to all of us.

DOUBT formulas are clearly no longer allowed in our church.  People with questions must accept what they are told by their MAAs, and anyone with the temerity to communicate outside of those parameters is quickly throttled back in to line with sec checks or goldenrods.  “Not being happy with an answer” means the doubt was not resolved, and the notion that one must settle for whatever he is told is fundamentally repugnant to any being applying a standard Doubt Formula, and would only be accepted by a robot.

There, by the use of force and the intelligence of an SP, goes the Church of Scientology.

I did not take the questions I presented you in 2011 lightly, and I really would have noticed if they were answered.  It was not in my mind that it would take more than a week or two to handle, and I certainly did not anticipate that I would be walking away from a 38 year career as a gung-ho and highly commended member of this group until I discovered there were no answers for these management aberrations to be found in policy, and no willingness on the part of my terminals in the church to even inquire as to why these outpoints remained unhandled.

So, please, repeat for me if you would the answers I was supposedly given to the following questions:

  1. LRH      said that the “make-break point” of org expansion is 5.4X.  This figure was the foundation of the      Birthday Game which was giving LRH the only thing he wanted for his      birthday:  church expansion.  He did not want new buildings or people      to increase their level of membership in some unaffiliated gung-ho group.      My question to you was:  “What org      in the world that was here 30 years ago is 5.4 times larger today than it      was then?  How many orgs have      achieved this expansion rate? If your answer is “ZERO”, how can we explain      these proclamations of “unprecedented expansion?”  WHAT is expanding, exactly?  And to what does “47 times the expansion      of any earlier time” refer?  What      happened to LRH stats? I don’t recall your answers to these questions.
  2. What      are the STATS of the church from 1985 to 2011 on an annual basis on First      Service Starts, WDAH, Pd Comps and GI?       How many CL 8 auditors have been created over those years, and what      is the trend? I did not get ANY stats from you or any of the terminals at      OSA after hours of conversation and many requests – yet this is an essential      part of the doubt formula.
  3. How is      it that COB does “International Events” every few months and, in so doing,      bypasses the entire command structure to relay information to the      rank-and-file that SHOULD be coming to them from their local executives      (and thus maintaining the command lines and empowering them)?  This is obviously in violation of the      policy DANGER CONDITIONS, RESPONSIBILITY FOR DECLARING and drives the      lower echelons in to continuing Non Existence conditions.  These events also disperse the attention      of our congregation to the four winds and AWAY from their local      scenes.  They alter the importance      of the one-by-one nature of Scientology, and the vital need to put most of      our attention on bringing NEW people in to the church for services, per      PROPORTIONATE MARKETING.  How are      these “INT EVENTS” justified when there      is not ONE policy that supports them or explains their value – quite      to the contrary.  This is a      continuing and Titanic management faux pas.
  4. Why      have my reports since 1992 on the squirreled nature of the FSM program been      ignored?  If  “the whole purpose of the field staff      member program is to help increase the number of new people contacted,      disseminated to and gotten on to the bridge,”  (FSM SERIES #1) how is it that the      entire program has been hijacked to the TOP of the bridge, gutting the      lower echelons of their public?  Why      have I gotten many sec checks and a comm ev  [which fully vindicated and commended me      but ignored utterly the squirreled FSM program] for just writing these      reports when millions in fraud have been reported and the flow of new      people on and up the bridge brought to a standstill, and the pay of staff      members from FSMCR eliminated?  How      can such obvious crimes that unmock our front-end groups be committed and prolifically reported with no      interest or action from management?       I don’t recall your response to these queries.
  5. I      mentioned to you the fact that the OCA that LRH used at Saint Hill is not      the squirreled version used in the Church today, and that the results of      these different versions vary dramatically.  This is a game changer because this test      is a fundamental tool used in div 6 and div 4.  It allows us to MAKE CONTACT with the      public with reality.  It gives us prediction and allows honest      evaluation and correct programming so the public is winning at every      turn.  Because people are not      trained in the use of this tool but are ordered to simply read off      computer printouts, trait-by-trait,       they have no familiarity with the test or with the fact that it is      not the same profile LRH used at Saint Hill and to which he refers in      Policy.  The results rendered today      set up our Div 6ers for wrong indications on their new public, and wrong      case programming for C/Ses.  This guarantees un-standard results      which are puzzling because people do not question their measuring tools!      This opens the door for squirreling the tech. How can such a huge      alteration occur and it not be corrected – after innumerable reports on      the matter?
  6. Why      are there no Basic Books in most of the libraries in the United States      even after our management promoted that this job was “DONE!”  Anyone can check this because all public      libraries are listed on the internet, including what books they have and      which ones are being checked out and in what volume.  This was my FIRST question to you when      you asked “did you write this up?”       Remember? I don’t recall your answer to this question. You clearly      did not have one – and assume like many others that “everything is OK and      that this, too, shall pass!” 10’s of millions of dollars worth of books…      vanished. How did this occur, and what is being done about it?
  7. Why is      the hallway at the Sandcastle lined with photos of people who have given      money to the IAS, but no photos of people who have achieved the two      purposes of orgs and given blood and years to the task of clearing people      or opening missions or auditing people?       (I understand that these photos have recently been taken down, but      I wonder if the off-Source purpose they represent has been removed as      well?)  I don’t recall your answer      to this question.
  8. What      policies create and drive the IAS?       It takes many millions from the congregation of the Church of      Scientology (to say nothing of the distraction it creates to the attention      of our group) and yet has no oversights.       This is the elephant in the room.  It is, by what I can determine, a      renegade operation that has ZERO representation in policy but is      apparently simply a money pit to be used in whatever arbitrary fashion is      required by management. Where does all the money go that is paid to the      IAS?  What policy governs it?  Who is in charge of it’s      disbursement?  It is not controlled      by the Church of Scientology and does not go through the FP Committee of      the Church.  If the church public is      only dwindling since the “founding” of the IAS by Yeager and Miscavige,      how is its existence justified? Where is it in writing that LRH had any      knowledge of this group’s formation or purpose?  I don’t recall your answer to these      questions.
  9. How      many members are there in the IAS?       This is an important number because one cannot do service in Div 4      without being a member.  We hear      numbers of Scientologists “in the millions,” but all I can document is      less than 40,000 worldwide – and shrinking.
  10. Why      does management promote that there are so many “new orgs” when in fact      they are just new, subsidized buildings, and the “old orgs” they replace      are not used any further?  The field      has not expanded: only their org’s expenses have expanded.  How is this beneficial to the actual      exchange of Scientology with the world? Who is going to pay the bills for      these buildings when the delivery of the org cannot support it? As this is      falsely represented as being supported by LRH, does it not invalidate the      workability of his actual policies and thus demean the image of Source?  I presented a stack of policies that      invalidate the conduct of the so-called “Ideal Org” project and was shown      ZERO references that justified it.       Did I miss something here?
  11. You      will recall the Rollback you gave me regarding my answer to the query of a      friend in Australia concerning the Ideal Org project.  You asked me where I got these ‘enemy      lines’ and I showed them to you in OEC Vol 7.  That ended the rollback, of course, but      I wonder if you pulled the string further to get to the real heart of that      matter – that the Ideal Org program was in contravention of that policy I      cited to my friend?  The one who      started the Ideal Org program, in fact, is the enemy you seek with your rollbacks!
  12. Who      actually OWNS the Ideal Org real estate that is purchased?  The Church?  CST? What is the policy that governs      this?
  13. The      promotion for these Ideal Orgs and the IAS is taken off the page of VERBAL      TECH PENALTIES when LRH cautions against the use of brief paragraphs out      of context without saying from which policy the quote was taken in order      to make it appear that LRH is in      support of the program when, in fact, he is clearly opposed to it. I      provided evidence of this but there was no reply to this question that I      recall.
  14. Where      is it written that LRH put David Miscavige in charge?  Where is the structure of church      institutions (CST, RTC, CofS and so on) published so we can all see the      command structure and org board of our management bodies and understand      their relationships?
  15. Where      are the people who run these activities?       I know that Guillaume was made “ED INT for LIFE” by LRH, but we      never see him anymore. The WDC? Where is Heber?  Mithoff?       Eastman? Wilhere?  And where      is Diana Hubbard?   Did you answer      these questions?
  16. How is      it that “Command Intention” and LRH Intention are taken to mean the same      thing when they clearly are NOT?       How is it that I have friends who have been declared for being      concerned about issues raised in Debbie Cook’s letter – before she was declared?  When was it decided that concern for our      survival as a group became a suppressive act?  When did communication become a crime in      our body? Did you answer these questions, and I just missed it?
  17. How is      it that one whole issue of our FREEDOM magazine was mailed out to the      readership of the St. Pete Times proclaiming that one of our senior      executives was documented as having beat up, on 40 separate occasions,      other members of the crew?  This      issue of FREEDOM was devoted to throwing the entire church management      strata, the Church of Scientology, the religion of Scientology and LRH      under the bus in order to protect one person: David Miscavige. The rest of      our “International Management” were apparently standing around bearing      witness to these beatings. They even allowed themselves to be videoed by      the press professing the innocence of Miscavige and the guilt of his      lieutenant. Did anyone have the idea that the IMPORTANT thing is to show      Scientology, Source materials and LRH were not involved in this psychotic      demonstration of PTSness, and then use the incident to educate the world      on the effects of suppression and the need to be constanty alert and      constantly willing to fight back?        After all, this “handling” by FREEDOM was a MISTAKE of Tsunamic      proportions.  These only occur in      the presence of suppression.  Was      there an investigation done?  The      protection of Miscavige was the ONLY important factor in this entire third      dynamic engram.  Did you address      this question with me, Slavka – because I certainly recall the look on      your face when I brought this article to your attention – and the fact      that the entire magazine was used not to promote Scientology and the      Church and LRH but to white-wash the results of PTSness at our highest      levels.  Lastly, if the lieutenant      was guilty of these beatings as was admitted in the FREEDOM mag, was COB      not aware of this behavior?  To      believe this we would have to think that COB is either incompetent,      stupid, or deaf, dumb and blind.  If      he was aware of it and did nothing to stop it,  he needs some time to think for a couple      of hundred years before he does A to E.       In either case,  NOTHING WAS      DONE, and this engram continues.       What a mess.  I don’t recall      your address of these issues with me except to ask “Who is in your ear?”      as though I have an evil Leprechaun on my shoulder.  ANYONE can see this stuff, and what      manner of person would NOT want something done about it?
  18. If our      management is as unethical as all of these things suggest, is it rational      to assume that the tech and the admin in our church are IN?  Do you have an answer for this?  Has it not occurred to anyone that      people actually like Scientology – Ron’s Brand – and stay away in      droves from squirreled activities?       How many in the church would leave it if they did not have children      or businesses that would be affected? I, myself, have concerns about      bringing people in to this atmosphere – and this has been my purpose for      the past 38 years! And how many NEW people are turned off by what they      THINK is Scientology when it is only the unchecked dramatizations of a few      PTS executives – and the PTS congregation that permits it to continue?
  19. We      have an opportunity here to educate the world,  but instead we turn on each other and      play the “who can we bankrupt first?” Game.  Why?

I had many other questions, but I think any Scientologist would have these and would agree that they need to be fully confronted and resolved.

Please stop telling people that “We answered Mark’s questions but he did not like the answers.”   You KNOW this is a lie and it is beneath you.   I implore you to find out for yourself the answers to these questions and let me know what you discover.

You showed me the reference about how an SP becomes one – where a period of stress at the hands of the SP is followed by the person taking on the SP’s valence.  You were showing me this reference as regards Debbie Cook to explain “how she became suppressive.”

I asked you – and I mention this as the last unanswered sample question in my collection – which person it was who’s valence this long-time, highly trained and decorated Sea Org veteran was first suppressed by and who’s valence she later assumed.

WHO were YOU talking about? Did it not occur to you that perhaps the SP who suppressed her and who’s valence she allegedly assumed is still in the church?

Is it a truthful thing to say that by pointing these destructive but actual things out that Debbie Cook was displaying suppressive characteristics?

My own contention, of course, is that after the wars with the IRS in the 80’s and the battle with that band of suppressives, the “war” was actually not over as COB proclaimed. Our own management strata was completely stressed out and actually took on the valence of the SP IRS personnel. It’s just a theory, but there is substantial evidence to support it.

A review of the policy PTS PERSONNEL AND FINANCE would describe what is happening in our church today, and the need for the gargantuan PR machine that was put in place to cover it all up.

It’s all very fixable, but won’t be as long as the insane are running the asylum.  Hence, the growth of the Independent movement  – most of whom have shed their PTSness and ironically are more Scientologist than many of the uniformed reps running around.

In any case, this would seem to me to be an important investigation, and might open up the door for a handling or two.

A View From Inside Scientology Inc.

The following is from a special guest who is sitting in limbo within the corporate Scientology community.  Scientologist X provides a bird’s eye, real time view of what is like to begin questioning the contradictions within.

WHAT I KNOW

I’m a third generation Scientologist.  I am not ready to “come out”.
I don’t want to abandon my religion.  I want to heal it.  Because of
that I’ve asked Marty to leave out my identifying details.

At the age of fifteen I was a Golden Age of Tech trained Class V
Auditor.  I completed my entire Basics B+L series in record time
immediately following their release.  My parents have been in
Scientology from its most formative stages.  My sister is OT _____,
_____ C/S.  My brother has been a staff member since he was fourteen.
He personally helped establish the __________  and has manned it ever
since, working in various capacities as a ____, ____, ____, etc.  As
my personal EO, he is probably at his wit’s end right now, reading
this.  This letter is going to rip his heart in half.  Before I rush
headlong any further down this terrifying path, I want to take a
minute to say to everyone in my family: I love you.  Please don’t stop
loving me.   :’ (

I’m writing because I have noticed some changes in the church’s
methods of operation, and these changes make me very uncertain and
uncomfortable.  I don’t know and can’t say who or what is responsible
for these changes.  I’m not going to say it’s David Miscavage because
I’ve never even met the guy.  I’ve only seen him once: on the
Freewinds in 2001 when he walked around a corner and almost ran into
me.  He was surrounded by a team of juniors so it’s actually more
accurate to say that seven or eight people almost walked into me.  It
wasn’t their fault, it was mine.  I was reading while walking through
the A deck hallways and didn’t hear or see them approaching.  At the
time I remember being impressed with COB, both with his enormous
presence and energy, and his short stature.  I never worked at Int,
and I never had friends who were uplines that high.  So I don’t have
any concrete evidence either for or against the charges of him being a
raving lunatic who beats his subordinates.  Since I don’t have any
evidence about that stuff, let’s just set it aside.  Here’s what I
want to talk about: what I do know.  What I do know is that I
personally have witnessed changes, and I’m talking about things I’ve
seen with my own eyes, and I am not being allowed to inquire about
these changes.

I’m an auditor.  I don’t like being told not to communicate.

So I guess this is an exploratory letter to “the other side” to
attempt to gain some clarity, since the “good side” refuses to answer
any of my burning questions.  I’m just going to try to tackle these
“things that shouldn’t be” one at a time.

WHO IS CREATING INSTABILITY WITH BLANKET ISSUES OF “NOT CLEAR”?
It started as a trickle and swelled to a waterfall.  I watched as over
the course of a year, then two, then three, nearly every adult role
model in my life went pale with dread and said they were being called
to Flag to get a “review”–which always, inevitably, ended in them
being told they were not actually Clear the first time (or in MANY
CASES, second, or third times).  They then had to stay for financially
devastating, emotionally harrowing weeks of high, gleeful ups and
excruciating downs.  These reviews and re-auditing actions were very
expensive (plane tickets, accomos, multiple meals a day, not working
and earning money while being away) such that upon returning, rather
than looking glowing and shiny, they looked (to me) rather anxious.
They would be defeatist and defeatED over finances for months
afterward, just trying to recover.  The very worst part of all of this
is that on separate occasions, two of these adult mentors confided to
me that after everything, they had been told after a long period of
re-auditing that **actually** their Clear cancellations had been a
mistake–that they WERE Clear the whole time.  This created enormous
ridges.  Who is creating ridges?

WHO IS STRIPPING ORGS OF THE RIGHT TO DELIVER?
CCRD: who has the rights to deliver it?  The Bridge says one thing,
and obviously we aren’t doing what it says.  Look at the Grade Chart.
I have asked supes multiple times, pointing my finger and banging on
the Grade Chart that is posted in every single Academy: why don’t we
do THAT?  “We don’t have the resources to deliver CCRD”??  WHY don’t
we?  When I was five or six our org had a CCRD delivery team.  It was
a glorious time.  I remember we used to have huge parties and
celebrations when the Org made a Clear.  We would all come out and
hear a speech and it was an extremely loving event.  Why wouldn’t it
be?  A member of our congregation has achieved a major milestone in
their path to enlightenment!  Tears, cake, hugs all around: THETA.
Even today, these memories are joyous and bright.  (Remember in AP&A?
Theta can’t be taken away 🙂 Pain can be erased.  Pleasure can’t!)
Why haven’t we had one of those awesome parties in years?  Why can’t
our org make Clears?  Are we not allowed to verify Clear because we’ll
just “mess it up”?  Why is that?  Is there something about the
training of our tech team that is so shoddy that we’ll never be able
to know who or what is actually Clear??

If we are so horrible at recognizing Clears, wouldn’t it be best to
correct us in Qual rather than changing LRH policy about who delivers
CCRDs?  Saying that nobody on Earth can make a Clear except Flag is a
*huge* enemy line.  It suggests that they have a room full of hidden
data lines about the state of Clear that no other org will ever be
able to access.  Ron would never strip a Class V org of their power to
destimulate their fields by producing beautiful, bright, shiny Clears.
So why is Flag doing it?

WHO IS MAKING SPIRITUAL FREEDOM UNAVAILABLE TO THE MASSES?
Our family always donated to the org.  We did this via donations for
services and also donations for “causes” (things like helping ABLE,
WISE, WTH expansion programs).  All of this we did happily, and we
were not under extreme financial stress due to these donations,
because we gave as we were able.  Looking at the timeline of this, you
might say that I didn’t know the exact state of our finances and
everyone’s finances at the org because I was a child at that time.
But children are extremely perceptive.  They place importance on
feelings and emotions in ways that adults don’t, and I know what I
felt–the org was a happy place.  We were happy to go there.  With
family, with friends, with non-Scientologists even!  The scene today
is a billion miles away from that.  Non-Scientologists won’t come near
Scientology with a ten-foot pole, newer Scientolgists are approaching
our religion with caution because everything they want to do in intro
services is outlandishly expensive, and the longest term
Scientologists, the ones who have been there for decades, are PAINED
at the thought of having to go into the org or to an event.  They are
nervous about getting regged!

The IAS event was always a donation-centric event.  But Auditor’s Day?
Never.  We used to glorify our auditors on that day.  May 9th?
Celebration of our most basic book.  Our founder’s BIRTHDAY???  Giving
him his greatest wish.  So when did these beautiful spiritual
occasions get lumped into one engramic series of reg cycles?  Who
altered the purpose of international events?

I am embarrassed to say how many families I have watched go under due
to financial strain from regging.  Basics, library donation campaigns,
all of the other IAS campaigns, then the Ideal Org campaigns, one
thing after the next.  I am far too ashamed to relate experiences I’ve
observed first and second hand where successful, self-employed,
self-made business owners were being forced to take out second
mortgages on their houses just to try to get by, while their names
were on plaques and bricks that will someday go in the Ideal Org.
What gratitude do they have for their sacrifices?  They receive
construction paper commendations from the IAS and watch as their
401Ks, then rainy day funds, then families, become emaciated.  This
weirdo greed thing is totally new.  Absolutely things were not always
this way.  WHO implemented a pattern and a policy of coercion in
regging?

Another specific I want to tell is my experience with status-based
treatment at Flag.  While routing in and around the base I was given
the “new” routing forms.  These have large empty circles on the top of
them, underneath your name.  In these circles the originator of the
routing form stamps your donation status–whether you have given the
church $100, $10,000, or $100,000,000.  This stamp determines the
speed at which your cycle is handled.  I was disgusted that people
would admit to this so openly at Flag.  It was really a blase,
nonchalant thing, told to me offhand by several Flag staff members in
an of-course-that’s-how-it-is way.  Totally bizzare!  I have listened
to a lot more LRH than the average Joe and I never heard a single word
about this kind of status thing.  Special rooms in orgs for donors,
special “capers” for them?  And now plebians can’t take services at CC
Int?  Yes, if you haven’t heard recently: you have to be a celebrity
to take services at the Celebrity Center now.  It’s just President’s
Office, and people who are wondering how many butts they have to lick
to elbow their way into the President’s Office.  It used to be you
could bring in any old regular friend and show them around, have them
meet with some Div 6 personnel, invite them to taste the beauty of our
religion…but someone doesn’t want these degenerates contaminating
the arena for wealthy potential donors.  WHO is doing this?

WHO IS DECLARING AS SUPPRESSIVE SOME OF THE MOST STABLE TERMINALS IN INT?
It used to be easy to write to anyone in Int.  They would write back
to you immediately and you felt their presence twinkling out of the
envelope, you knew it was them.  These days, I just don’t know.  I’ve
written to Int with many of my questions.  Most of my letters have
gone unanswered.  Who ISN’T writing back?  Some of my letters are
answered in a weird way, a strange tone of comm way.  Who IS writing
back?  I feel like a robot is writing me back.  I honestly, and this
is not exaggeration, wondered one time if an intake scanner at INT HCO
had scanned my letter for keyword content, used an algorithm to make
an assumption about what my question was, and composed a letter using
auto-formatting it had been taught.  It was *that* weirdly worded.  It
didn’t feel human.

I am begging for a human response.  I don’t want to abandon my
religion.  I LOVE my religion!  Please, is there any human out there
who can answer my questions?  Such as, where is President CSI Heber
Jentzsch?  Where is the smiling, familiar face of Ed Int Guillame
Lesevre?  I love that guy!  And I definitely remember Mark Yager, I
even met him a few times and felt a strong bond with him immediately,
where is he?  What really happened with Debbie Cook, and why were
things so bad that she felt like she had to email 10,000 of us?  WHO
is creating conditions in Int that are so unstable that anyone could
just be declared at the drop of a hat in direct violation of HCO PLs
regarding ethics gradients?

WHO IS SLITTING THE VOCAL CHORDS OF THOSE WHO QUESTION?
I have never known a life outside of the spheres of Scientology.  I
was raised both in the church and by the church, attending Scientology
schools, undertaking training and processing from a very young age,
and contributing as a staff member.  I AM a member of this church.
Stop treating me like a piece of shit apostate just because I have
questions!  I am NOT “quitting” Scientology!  I am NOT “spreading
enemy lines”!!  I am NOT “dangerously Googling”!

WHO IS ENCOURAGING STAFF TO SELL INDULGENCES?
In 1997, when I borrowed my brother’s key to an org door without
asking and lost it, I did conditions under the guidance of an EO.  In
2003, when I lied to a family member in order to get money from her, I
did conditions under the guidance of an EO.  My most recent ethics
cycles?  0% conditions, 100% indulgences.  Paying money to get out of
ethics trouble.  “Contributing” to the Ideal Org fund to “make up the
damage”, even when the damage I did is completely unrelated.  Why is
my EO asking me to buy a set of Basics for a stranger, in order to
make up the damage for something bad I did to a friend of mine?

Why is my auditor regging me for donations?  I don’t even want to
comment on how disgustingly inappropriate that is.  More than anything
I want to try to convey how AWKWARD that is.  For everyone involved.
Who is asking technical staff to produce on administrative lines and
thus giving a giant cross order?

WHO IS DEVALUING THE FAMILY UNIT?
I was really young when the SO 2D policies changed to SO members not
being able to have kids.  I don’t remember how it was before, so I
can’t comment on that.  I do know I’ve met the kids who grew up inside
that the policy change.  They are some of the most fucked up kids I
have ever met.  Illiterate, unloved, and VERY degraded.  Completely
lacking basic social skills and unable to complete even the simplest
math problems.

Seems like the kids who came just before that policy change are fine,
most of them are uplines and highly trained.  And there are no kids
who came after that policy change.  I only have the evidence of the
20-30 children I have met in my lifetime who were at various stages of
their human development when all at once they were labeled as the
diseased pariahs of the Scientology world.  How can you tell a kid
that they are unworthy of parental love?  The lasting impact of this
disregard, this total lack of responsibility over their welfare, is
immeasurable.  I can only measure it by counting the lines on their
anxiety-ridden faces.  You know who I am talking about.  Half of these
kids work in the underground kitchen at ASHO.  Who is responsible for
this waste of human life?

I knew three women at CLO WUS and one at AOLA who were coerced into
having abortions.  I can’t give more details than this because they
weren’t allowed to talk about it.  Seems weird that we base our entire
system of beliefs on free and open communication but there are iron
curtains over entire subject matters.  I know who DOESN’T have the
balls to talk about this.  Who DOES?  Who dares to lay down a set of
laws over the reproductive rights of the most able-bodied men and
women on Earth, the “upper tenth of the upper twentieth”?

WHO IS IMPLEMENTING MASS DISCONNECTIONS?
For years I had heard people whining about disconnection, but when I
read in ISE about it, Ron told me it’s something we should be very
careful not to overuse.  Therefore I assumed it was something that
didn’t happen much anymore.

But as more and more people I knew and had grown up around got
declared, the evils of rampant disconnection orders REALLY hit home to
me.  The biggest one was Luis Garcia.  I knew him for years, worked
with him, knew his family.  He was a big donor, got all types of
awards and special mentions.  Yesterday this guy was the head of the
OT Committee.  He spoke on stage at our events and gave us advice on
how to clear the planet faster.  Today we’re not allowed to even
whisper his name?  I received his email and of course I read it.  Why
wouldn’t I?  For all I knew he could have been emailing me about when
the next potluck was.

I got about 1/10 through it before I realized what was going on.  Luis
was leaving the church?  Why?  I had never been so confused before.

When I came to my EO I was put in a locked room in Ethics and
interrogated as if I had done something terrible.  “Did you read his
email??  Why did you read it?”  Uh…because it came from someone I’ve
been taught to respect and listen to?  “Why didn’t you delete it after
you started reading it and realized what it was about?  How much of it
did you read?  Can you show me the email in your inbox?  Which
paragraph did you get to when you read it?  Why did you decide to stop
there?”  I mean, it was totally insane.  I came in to get some
questions answered and was treated like a criminal.  In the end, none
of my questions were answered.  All I was told was that Luis had been
“bad all along” and that he had been “planning an evil attack of
Scientology the whole time”.

The worst was when I was told that Luis had “gotten into some bad
stuff” This guy is an OT VIII!  Cause over life!  What the HELL could
he have gotten into that could make him go completely insane and walk
out of the group he had dedicated his life to?  Even if every single
thing I had been told about how Luis is evil had been true–I still
would have liked the chance to talk to him about his decision and
thank him for what he did for me while he was around.  Instead I was
threatened within an inch of my life when I suggested talking to him
to say goodbye.  How is that self-determined?  What happened to
“what’s true for you is true”?

LRH says an SP is a PERSON–not a group.  We are Scientologists.  We
are not an SP group.  SOMEONE is causing these changes.  That’s why
I’m asking…WHO?  I guess that sums up the majority of my questions.
I won’t be able to say I never saw it coming if I never hear from my
family again after this.  My final question is if that’s what’s
deserved.

Growing up as a Scientologist was exhilarating and free!  I was taught
“to have the courage to know and say what you have observed”.  Reading
these words always thrilled me, made my heart race; I imagined myself
on a snowy steed, slicing through insanity with my long blade of
truth.  I just never thought it would be like this.

Treason Assignment – David Miscavige

I suggest that the following letter from Dani Lemberger will cause effects on the order of those created by the letter of Luis Garcia, the email of Debbie Cook and the email of Karen De La Carriere concerning her son Alexander.  It is a reference work worth studying.  Please see that it gets the distribution it warrants.

Mosey, Dani, Tami, and Marty at Casablanca, Tejas

Dani Lemberger, Dror Center, Haifa, Israel

11 July 2012

Dear friends, fellow Scientologists,

The History of the Attached Letter

The writing of the attached letter, “Assignment of Treason
Condition – David Miscavige,” was completed by Dani Lemberger and
the execs of Dror Center on 10 June 2012. The planned date of release
was 4 July 2012, upon the return of Tami and Dani from the U.S.
Tami and Dani went to New York on 15 June. On 20 June we flew
to Corpus Christi, Texas, where we spent 8 days with Marty and Monique
Rathbun. We enjoyed fabulous hospitality and continued there our
research of “independent Scientology”. We flew to Tampa on 28 June,
planning to spend a few days with close friends in Clearwater (CW) and to go in for scheduled interviews at Flag on 30 June. When we landed at Tampa airport, on 28 June at 8pm, we were handed a letter by Flag HCO, informing us that we had been declared SP’s (Suppressive Persons, excommunicated). We have never seen the SP Declare itself. Our friends in CW were notified of the ‘declare’ earlier that afternoon, so they could not let us stay at their home. At midnight we checked into a hotel in CW. We could not meet any of our “old” friends in CW, but made new friends with Mike Rinder, Christie Collbran and mighty Jack King Rinder. The Rinder’s made us feel at home and introduced us to many more “indies”, loyal Scientologists who had to flee the church so as to practice Scientology peacefully and honestly.

Obviously, many of the planned recipients of this letter will not
read it now, since those cowed by the church are not allowed to receive
any communications from us. We are proud and relieved to be part of the
rapidly expanding “indie” movement. It is painful to lose friends of many
years but our many new friends are courageous and of high integrity and
we share the goal of making Scientology available to all. The days of monopolies and tyrants are over. Now, even in the Middle East. Bashar al-Assad is butchering his people so as to hold on to power over the ruins of Syria. Miscavige is ‘declaring’ half of Scientologists so as to maintain his stranglehold on the other half – dazed, confused and ignorant. Zinedine Ben Ali, Hosni Mubarak, Muammar Gaddafi are gone. Assad and Miscavige will soon follow.

My dear friend, please allow me your time and read the attached letter. Pass it
on to all your friends. We are the friends of L. Ron Hubbard, the greatest friend of Mankind.

Love, Dani Lemberger

Mark Shreffler Goes Indie on Indies Day

UPDATE 7/9/12:

Pancho and Squirrel

Greetings to everyone who is independent and even those who have not made the decision who yet struggle to be independent while still in the church  (good luck with that!).

This photo was taken the day after I made the decision and told everyone.  The power of coming out of Doubt for real!

This PIG is the biggest fish I have ever caught, and it was out of a small river where he was marauding the trout population.

I named him “SQUIRREL,” and I’m going back for more!

Thank you ALL for your wonderful acknowledgements and welcomes to this community!  I have been working on acknowledging you individually but only just became Cause over Answering on Blogs!

My own blog will be up in a day or two.

Love,

Shreff

I have been told by a number of Independent Scientologist friends that Mark Shreffler has been perhaps the most effective and productive advocate and promoter of the religion of Scientology in the United States over the past thirty years.  Two of those friends are Dani and Tami Lamberger who are making international waves of their own at the moment, see Israel Goes Independent.   Mark made an announcement on USA’s Independence Day, and I think it is only fitting that we publish it here on day one of the third annual Independent Scientologists weekend celebration.  Judging from the clarity and wisdom of this communication, I can see why Mark is renowned as such a wonderful communicator of truth. Mark, you are more than welcome here in the sunshine.  I am sure your ability and purpose will lead others to see the light.
July 4, 2012For my Scientologist friends everywhere, good afternoon!Over 38 years of disseminating around the world and introducing many thousands of people to the miracles of Scientology, I have without a doubt established myself as a fan and a friend of LRH and the technologies he has developed for our benefit.  They offer salvation to anyone who honestly makes use of them.

I have recently gone through an extensive search for answers to troubling questions concerning the nature of various programs being forwarded by our church’s management.  These programs include the IAS, the “Ideal Org” project, the institution of “International Events” and a few other activities and anomalies for which I could find no support in policy and no answers at Flag.

I have learned that honest people do not squirrel, but squirrels need honest people to get away with it.  Honest people are more easily fooled and frequently generous.  Hence the very honest and helpful and generous congregation of the Church of Scientology has fallen victim to an operating basis that describes a very different church than the one I joined so many years ago.

It’s rather like discovering as an adult that your favorite pet when you were a child is actually a stuffed doll.  The first realization is not-issed, but as you continue to look you become more and more dumbfounded by the realization.

It used to be so alive!

I have awakened to the fact that many in our church today have lost their tongues and hide their notions that something is not right in our group.  Social personalities don’t like to accentuate the negative, and anti-socials rely on this fact!

Communication has become a crime unless it is along “company lines.”  There is the nagging presence of an outpoint yet unrevealed, and we have turned against each other as LRH said would happen in the presence of suppression.

The Doubt Formula today cannot be fully applied regarding these things because questions concerning intentions and activities and stats are treated like the spawn of the enemy, and one is not allowed to fully examine all sides of an issue. Full disclosure is a thing of bygone years.

To restore our group to it’s earlier glories – the 70’s and 80s when stats were going up –  requires a dramatic change of operating basis and a real and thorough examination of what is going on.

For starters, we have to STOP looking for leaders and START looking to LRH.

I am heartsick about these discoveries as I have many friends who match these sterling qualities of generosity and honesty and gullibility who yet do not perceive these foul winds and disturbing trends, and hence will be dumbstruck by my announcement:

I am hereby withdrawing my support from the current management of the Church of Scientology and from these programs they have created with no sanction from LRH or from the policies he wrote that form the very glue of our union as free beings.

I will henceforth be operating as an independent Scientologist in the field.

I welcome as friends anyone who wants to Keep Scientology Working and bring about the Aims of Scientology, and is a genuine friend of LRH.

And so forth…

Israel Goes Independent

The most productive and influential Scientology organization in Israel has declared independence from the Miscavige tyranny.  The Village Voice broke the story early this morning, Israel Awakens by Tony Ortega.

The Dror (Hebrew for Freedom!) Center of Haifa is operated by the dynamic duo Dani and Tami Lemberger.   You may remember Tami as the international field auditor of the year for the years 2000 and 2002.  Dani is just as legendary in his own right as an administrator.  Dani managed to keep Haifa out from under Miscavige’s boot sufficiently enouch to continue high levels of Scientology delivery during the past decade when Miscavige has managed to destroy almost every other Scientology organization affiliated with Scientology Inc.

The Scientologists of Israel do not look to the glitzy, empty Tel Aviv Idle Morgue for direction. They look to the Lemberger’s and the Dror Center, where Scientology continues to be delivered in abundance – despite management’s best efforts to choke it to death.   Dani and Tami have pried Scientology Inc leader David Miscavige’s fingers off their necks so that they can now really get the show on the road.

Dani and Tami visiting the Texas coast

As predicted, the corporate Scientology retaliation campaign has been launched with a vengeance.  Since so many Israeli Scientologists have children in orgs and the Sea Org a fair number have been coerced into serving as deployable agents to attempt to disrupt Dror. Dani and Tami and the trained, brave executives and staff of Dror Center are so far weathering the storm.  But, they are being viciously attacked on a personal level with hateful messages of disconnection by friends and family still loyal to the tyranny.

Please show your support through your commentary here, and by personal messages to Dani, danilemberger@hushmail.com.  Better yet, plan a vacation to Israel to complete your Scientology Bridge to Clear at the Dror Center. Dror delivers in English, Hebrew, and Russian.   Experience and participate in history in the making.  Contribute to the expansion of the first full service organization (Dror can and does audit to Clear and train to Class V Grad and above) to declare INDEPENDENCE.

Dani and Tami and their team struck the strongest blow against tyranny to date.  Their flourishing survival is integral to the independence movement.

The executives and staff of Dror are living the words of Thomas Paine, oft-repeated here:

These are the times that try men’s souls.  The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of their country; but he that stands now, deserves the love and thanks of man and woman.  Tyranny, like hell, is not easily conquered; yet we have this consolation with us, that the harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph.  What we obtain too cheap, we esteem too lightly: it is dearness only that gives every thing its value.  Heaven knows how to put a proper price upon its goods; and it would be strange indeed if so celestial an article as FREEDOM  should not be highly rated.

Stop Trying to Freak Out Katie Holmes

This is addressed to the infotainment industry and its ‘insider’ ‘sources’, and hopefully Katie will catch wind of it.   If I were in Katie’s shoes and reading your coverage and the allegations of ‘insider sources’ who, in reality, know not of what they speak, I’d be plenty freaked out.

I have tried to explain this to a number of media who have eschewed my informed advice in favor of  ‘sources’ who are talking on subjects they have no first-hand experience with yet nonetheless make alarming, definitive allegations.

I was Tom Cruise’s auditor (Scientology counselor) between 1996 and 2004.  I was his liaison to Chairman of Scientology David Miscavige during those same years.   I advised on all aspects of Cruise’s 2001 divorce with Nicole Kidman.  I set up the initial Scientology indoctrination of Conner (then age 6) and Bela (then age 9), and supervised it subsequently.  I was also the senior church official over Scientology Inc’s Office of Special Affairs (the dirty tricks and propaganda arm of Scientology Inc) from its inception in 1982 through 2004.

I hope Katie will take the following to heart.

1.  The church of Scientology will mostly likely not engage in overt harassment, including surveillance of Katie.  David Miscavige will most likely advise Tom Cruise not to engage private investigators to overtly investigate Katie.

2.  The church of Scientology and Tom Cruise will most likely not engage in covert operations designed to frame Katies Holmes.

3. The church of Scientology and Tom Cruise would most likely forbid Suri from joining the Sea Organization (the Scientology priesthood with a lifetime commitment, labor camps, and a ship).  Not at 6 years old, not at 16 years old, not at 26 years old.

Now, that is not to say there is nothing to fear.  Katie can count upon the following happening:

a.  Tom Cruise and his Scientology handlers attempting to indoctrinate Suri to accept Scientology Inc policies with a slant toward fearing that Katie is a Suppressive Person (roughly equivalent to a sociopath).  They can be counted upon to do so at every opportunity so as to alloy Suri’s affinity for her mother and redirect her loyalties toward Cruise and his best man Miscavige.  If you want to understand the complete mechanics that are likely to be employed, they are covered in an in-depth fashion in my recently released book What Is Wrong With Scientology?

b.  Should Katie overtly criticize Tom and Scientology, Tom Cruise and Miscavige can be counted upon to use Tom’s lines of communication in Hollywood to attempt to covertly visit harm upon future career opportunities for Katie.  Given the level of public education over the past several years of Scientology’s hateful propaganda campaigns, and given the clear public sentiment in Katie’s favor, I believe such efforts would miserably backfire on the perpetrators; and likely create the opposite result.

The rest of the alarming reports Katie is hearing come from people who have no first-hand knowledge of Tom Cruise, David Miscavige, and Scientology Inc’s dirty tricks arm, the Office of Special Affairs.  Yes, constant vigilance is called for.  But, there is plenty of danger in what she is likely actually facing. To drive her into unwarranted paranoia is not good for her, her child or anyone else for that matter.

Update 7/5 a.m.: I am not the only one suggesting that some media ought to chill a couple degrees.  See Tony Ortega’s piece on Miscavige’s missing wife Shelly at the Village Voice.

Kindle Edition Available of What Is Wrong With Scientology

The Kindle edition is now available at Amazon Books, at What Is Wrong With Scientology? Kindle Edition.  The whole introduction and part of Chapter One is available at this link.

In the meantime, Haydn James happened to stop by the other day and I gave him my proof copy which he finished and sent me his feedback on.  He agreed to sharing it with you.

Haydn James’ Review of What is Wrong With Scientology?

Finished reading your book. As an experienced Scientologist, I
wondered: what will I get out of reading it? The answer? A great
deal, a very great deal.

For me it answered a number of unanswered questions, but most of
all (and having finished reading the book I know you will love
this) it confirmed for me that my current spiritual journey and
purpose to help others is as it should be. Not because you, Hubbard
or anyone else told me so or because my views happen to coincide
with yours but because I know it to be true for myself. And that is
incredibly liberating.

I told you when I visited you and Mosey that I have never been
happier. That wasn’t quite true, I am all the happier for having
read your book.

I would have finished reading it sooner but I made the mistake of
putting it down to grab some food, at which point Lucy picked it
up, started reading and wouldn’t give it back. She loved it and
thought it brilliant!

Since I have now read the proof you kindly provided, I thought it
only fair that I also buy it, which I have done and posted a
review. I describe it as “A unique book on Scientology”. And it is.
But I also believe you are the Tom Paine of Scientology. I believe
this book will be to the subject of Scientology and Scientologists
what Common Sense was to the American people and their ultimate
freedom. Just as Tom Paine discussed and destroyed the validity of
willingly giving up ones freedom to an uncontrollable entity known as
“royalty”, you discuss and destroy any notion that one should
become a slave to a subject and organization designed to free
people. Like Paine’s tract “Common Sense”, the truth in your book
is unmistakable and unavoidable.

In a word … brilliant.
