 What Is Greatness?

 by L. Ron Hubbard

The hardest task one can have is to continue to love one’s fellows despite all reasons he should not. And the true sign of sanity and greatness is to so continue.  For the one who can achieve this, there is abundant hope. For those who cannot, there is only sorrow, hatred and despair, and these are not the things of which greatness or sanity or happiness are made.
A primary trap is to succumb to invitations to hate. There are those who appoint one their executioners. Sometimes for the sake of the safety of others, it is necessary to act, but it is not necessary also to hate them.

To do one’s task without becoming furious at others who seek to prevent one is a mark of greatness—and sanity. And only then can one be happy. Seeking to achieve any single desirable quality in life is a noble thing. The one most difficult and most necessary to achieve is to love one’s fellows despite all invitations to do otherwise.

If there is any saintly quality, it is not to forgive. “Forgiveness” is a much lower level action and is rather censorious. True greatness merely refuses to change in the face of bad actions against one — and a truly great person loves his fellows because he understands them. After all, they are all in the same trap. Some are oblivious of it, some have gone mad because of it, some act like those who betrayed them. But all, all are in the same trap—the generals, the street sweepers, the presidents, the insane. They act the way they do because they are all subject to the same cruel pressures of this universe.

Some of us are subject to those pressures and still go on doing our jobs. Others have long since succumbed and rave and torture and strut like the demented souls they are. To re-save some of them is a dangerous undertaking. Were you to approach many ruling heads in the world and offer to set them free (as only a Scientologist can) they would go berserk, cry up their private police and generally cause unpleasantness. Indeed, one did—he was later assassinated by no desire of ours but because of the incompetence of his own fellows about him. He could have used Scientology. Instead, he promptly tried to shoot it down by ordering raids and various berserk actions on Scientology organizations. That he was then shot had nothing to do with us, but only demonstrated how incompetent and how mortal he really was.

As we become stronger, we can be completely openhanded with our help. Until we do, we can at least understand the one fact that greatness does not stem from savage wars or being known. It stems from being true to one’s own decency, from going on helping others whatever they do or think or say and despite all savage acts against one; to persevere without changing one’s basic attitude toward Man.  A fully trained Scientologist is in a far better position to understand than a partly trained one. For the Scientologist who really knows is able not only to retain confidence in himself and what he can do, but also can understand why others do what they do and so knowing, does not become baffled or dismayed by small defeats. To that degree, true greatness depends on total wisdom. They act as they do because they are what they are—trapped beings, crushed beneath an intolerable burden. And if they have gone mad for it and command the devastation of whole nations in errors of explanation, still one can understand why and can understand as well the extent of their madness. Why should one change and begin to hate just because others have lost themselves and their own destinies are too cruel for them to face.
Justice, mercy, forgiveness, all are unimportant beside the ability not to change because of provocation or demands to do so.
One must act, one must preserve order and decency, but one need not hate or seek vengeance. It is true that beings are frail and commit wrongs. Man is basically good but can act badly. He only acts badly when his acts done for order and the safety of others are done with hatred. Or when his disciplines are founded only upon safety for himself regardless of all others; or worse, when he acts only out of a taste for cruelty. To preserve no order at all is an insane act. One need only look at the possessions and environment of the insane to realize this. The able keep good order.
When cruelty in the name of discipline dominates a race, that race has been taught to hate. And that race is doomed.
The real lesson is to learn to love. He who would walk scatheless through his days must learn this. Never use what is done to one as a basis for hatred. Never desire revenge.
It requires real strength to love Man. And to love him despite all invitations to do otherwise, all provocations and all reasons why one should not.
Happiness and strength endure only in the absence of hate.
To hate alone is the road to disaster. To love is the road to strength.
To love in spite of all is the secret of greatness.
And may very well be the greatest secret in this universe.

  1. LRH…

    Just a human being.

    A true friend of mankind.

I always go out of the controversy thinking of him as an auditor. Listening hours and hours to others for his improvement.

I still share his dream of a civilization w/o insanity, w/o war.

World is a little bit better because of him.

    Thanks LRH.

We are still your followers. More than ever!

    Roberto Sánchez Núñez

  2. Happy Birthday, Ron.

I don’t know where you are, but wherever you are, I hope we can meet sometime up the track.

And if and when we do, I hope we can look back on a job well done.

I never, ever grow tired of reading this reference. Thanks for posting it, Marty.

Thank you, LRH, and Happy Birthday, Sir!

  4. Happy Birthday Ron!
Always grateful for all your work; it continues to change my life for the better. I work every day to pay it forward.

  5. Yes; we are strong…

    Strong because we love.

We love even to those who work to discredit us.

To those who tell poison words to our loved ones.

To those who search for our Aquiles heel and try to make it bigger.

To those who laugh at us for believe in the workability of LRH´s Tech.

Strong because we still find God when we see the light inside of the eyes of the people aroud us. That light that is brighter than all the stars in the universe.

Strong because we never stay on our knees. No matter how hard.

Strong because we don´t change if front of provocations. We don´t Q and A on it.

Strong because we have THE dream.

Strong because we can win and we are winning!

    We don´t quit…

  7. What a beautiful reference. Thank you Marty. Happy birthday LRH!

  8. Very well said Roberto!

    Your friend,
    Alex

  9. Thanks Marty for this great post. You and all the Independents have given Ron the best birthday gift by exposing the actual SP of Scientology (DM) to the world.

You helped the world to see there is a difference between Scientology and the cultish church of Mestology.
Ron has been waiting to see this day since he left the body and you (All the people left the C of S) gave him the best birthday gift.

Thanks to all the brave and wonderful beings who are continuously doing what they can to keep the tech pure and are helping to bring awareness.

    Happy Birthday Ron!!!! 🙂

  10. Happy Birthday Ron.

Wherever you are, if you are able to percieve what we are doing, I believe that you would understand and see what we are saying.

I feel that you would not let these things go on that are going on to some of your most dedicated people.

But wherever you are I hope it is going well. We are doing are best to keep your dream alive.

  11. It would be nice to have this posted in the MAA’s office instead of the sign that is usually posted: “You are responsible for the condition you are in.”

  12. I shudder to think about what my life might be like had LRH not accomplished what he did.

Thanks Ron. For the tech, for the wins, for the good company along the way.

  13. Thanks Marty

    Happy Birthday to you RON.

    Your legacy lives here.

  14. When ever I would get nattery about things, some how, some way, someone would pull out this reference for me. It’s one of my ultimate favs. At times I would protest loudly about having to read it ONE MORE TIME, but I’d go up to the qual library and read it. I’d always calm down, my universe would shift and my anchor points would expand beyond belief. I still tear up when I read this. Thank you Ron for being the true humanitarian that you are. Thank you for all of your ARC/KRC that you imparted to all of us.

  15. Happy Birthday, Ron.

I would not be alive today if it were not for you and your work. You were there when I needed you. I am here now.

    Roberto, I love you man.

    Thanks for the post Marty.
LRH is the reason we are all together here. Our love for the man and his work is undying and we will see to it that it is carried forward in its pure form.

  17. Yes, Happy Birthday Ron.

Wow this would be a great sermon for all churches world round.

Only a great, fearless and selfless man could have such an exterior view to decipher, confront and communicate this truth to others…and stand by it.

    Three cheers to LRH!!!

    All my love for eternity,

  18. Happy Birthday, Ron!

    Wherever you are?

    Marty thanks for posting this.

A perfect epithet for the Ol’man.

  19. Happy Birthday!

  20. You know, Keith Henson got sued into oblivion for posting a couple paragraphs of LRH. Granted, in his case it was the previously unpublished NOTS, section 34 (IIRC) which added a layer to his offense. Why do you think you can quote massive amounts of text with impunity?

  21. Happy Birthday, Ron.

Thank you for all you gave me and helped me give others. I have not been a member of the amalgam corporation calling itself Scientology for some time … but my gratitude, admiration, loyalty to you, the Scientology tech and my service to shared visions has never once faltered.

You have been a true friend to me. That is the one of the most sacred of words. Why do you think so many people love you? To say Thank you for what you contributed is an understatement!!

Besides, you are simply one uber cool mamajama.

CELEBRATING YOU on the DAY YOU CAME TO EARTH!

  23. Dear Ron,
Happy Birthday. Thank you for all you have done and all you are doing.
I will flourish and prosper and fight to my last breath to protect the gift you worked so hard to give us and to make sure that others will still be able to benefit from it.
Have a wonderful birthday where-ever you are and give my love to Mary Sue 😉

  24. Happy Birthday to you !
    Happy Birthday to you !
Happy Birthday, happy Birthday , happy Birthday…… to you……..:)

Thank you for your work you did !

  25. Perfect Post for the Old Man’s B/Day anniversary. I’m sure we’ll meet again. Meanwhile I’ll be making some more clears and OTs.

  26. Very Nice Roberto.

  27. This reference is particularly valuable when thinking about the cruelty being perpetrated by DM, which will eventually come back to him ten fold, not because we wish it so or have feelings of revenge but simply because this is the way the universe works. I learned this lesson relatively early this lifetime and have to work hard at not feeling pity for those who do bad acts.

LRH of course has supplied us with the definition of greatness which provides us with an alternative to hatred, revenge, and turmoil in our “hearts”. This is not to say that we should not stand up to the bullies and criminals… in my opinion, loving them enough to restrain their bad acts is a measure of our greatness.
    ML, Vicki

Rise up–for you the flag is flung for you the bugle trills,
For you bouquets and ribboned wreaths, for you the shores a-crowding,
For you they call, the swaying mass, their eager faces turning

    Happy Birthday, Cap’n

Went forth to fight the fight anew,

  34. Happy Birthday Ron….
I was reading this article just yesterday…
    so beautiful!!

  35. The stupidest question I was ever asked is
‘was LRH crazy?’ I have no way to answer.
I do know LRH was not normal. THANK GOD!

The best gift I ever received was also the best
    friend I ever had/have.

Happy Birthday Sir. I Love you still. Steve,Sarge, Joe, etc

  36. Happy Birthday Ron!!! 🙂

  37. Boyd –

Just trying to understand: by “your” you don’t mean “mine,” you mean the face of a would-be litigant, right?

But why is that the case? Wouldn’t it be a straightforward copyright infringement case? How could that “blow up?” What is it people here know about this topic that apparently escapes me?

  38. I was on staff at the NY Org in 1968 when I asked an associate helping me grade some OCAs (or APAs as they were called then), “do you think Ron knows about us?” Within minutes, the answer came, and I nearly fell off my chair. The space in the area completely changed. It was magical – total serenity. “Yes, I know about you”. I knew then that you were a very special friend, and have remained so to this day.

    Happy Birthday, Ron.

  39. Brendon “your” actually meant your. “Just trying to understand” actually means you already do understand completely.

  40. brendon,
Look up ‘fair use’ of copyrighted material. Look up ‘trade secrets’ (re: the difference between ‘fair use’ and the publishing of the NOTs materials).

All of the materials, up to the Advanced Levels, are openly published and put forth. “Fair Use” of them is covered by copyright law and has an exact meaning, which you can read and apply.

  41. Lucy, that expresses my communication to the being we know as LRH, perfectly. Thanks to you and Robert Service for the beauty of the sentiment.

  42. Beautiful. It was eyeopening to read this in a new unit of time and with a new viewpoint. “A fully trained Scientologist…” well, I have work to do.

  43. Yes that is a good one!

Sueing someone for promoting LRH references that is rich!! LOL.. maybe if you gave them some money..ha,ha.

    Alex

  44. Seems to me that if DM was serious about Ron picking up a new body and living in the mansion he built for him he’d not be forcing the women to have abortions would he? That dude just doesn’t add up.

Well, I hope Ron is having a great time wherever he is.. I don’t blame him for taking a good long break, life on earth can be exhausting;)

Happy birthday Ron, fellow pisces that you are.

  45. That’s right Jim ! Give it to them. Take them all to (law)class.

  46. Fair use is a doctrine in United States copyright law that allows limited use of copyrighted material without requiring permission from the rights holders, such as for commentary, criticism, news reporting, research, teaching or scholarship. It provides for the legal, non-licensed citation or incorporation of copyrighted material in another author’s work under a four-factor balancing test. The term “fair use” originated in the United States. A similar principle, fair dealing, exists in some other common law jurisdictions. Civil law jurisdictions have other limitations and exceptions to copyright.

  47. Best birthday song I ever heard and it applies equally to LRH as it did to MLK:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wY0OVWJbKlc

  48. Victoria, your comment made me realize that I’d never looked at it that way – do you think maybe dm is actually trying to insure LRH is NOT successful at coming back and reclaiming what is his? Could that be what’s behind his perverse obsession with the 2nd dynamic of so many sea org couples?

  49. Thought provoking's avatar Thought provoking

Have you ever pondered the wonderment of being a Scientologist?

I was not necessarily a seeker of anything when I discovered Scientology. It was really pretty happenstance that my roomates boyfriend had brought an old buddy by the house to visit. He was easy to talk to, just friends and at the end of the day asked if I wanted to go to a lecture the next night. I have never been to a lecture before but it sounded just fine.

I don’t remember much about the lecture except that it was when Clay Primrose came back from doing some OT levels. All I remember was him saying, “You are not a meat body.” I don’t ever recall having that thought (this lifetime) but I knew it as a truth for me. And in that instant, I knew I was home. Add in all the theta that was in that space and it was very easy to say yes to the invitation to do the Comm Course. That was the day my life completely changed. It was the day when I started grabbing the steering wheel of my life and began my wonderful journey.

Thank you, Marty, for including the complete article. It is one of my favorites and rekindles the feeling of admiration that I have for so many people, especially LRH.

Thank you, LRH, for giving me a direction to travel in. It has been a blast and with what I have taken away from this subject I can now really appreciate the game of life that I am playing.

    Happy Burthday!

    Love,
    Karen

  50. Happy Birthday, Sir!

  51. I came back here again just to immerse myself in the free life, the best of dreams for an attainable future, the fun, the audacity, the exuberance, the truth, the RESULTS in both my personal life and helping others, and all that was and is Scientology. I don’t even want to say “real” Scientology because there is no other kind.

Thank you for this spot in the world, Marty, where we can gather and remember and pay tribute and share. Just looking at these pictures, I burst into a smile.

    and fireworks.

Dan, Thanks. I agree on both counts.

  54. Beautiful quote Lucy!

  55. Thank you very much Marty for posting this, it really change something in my core, when one was public too much time I think one takes that stupid IAS moto “fight back” far too seriously.

I now realize just a great being would understand fellows (even in Earth! 🙂 and still work for untrapment.

From my Family and me, LRH: Happy birthday we love you!!

  56. Spot on! Thanks Marty for a wonderful gift. Also Karen very well stated. Happy Birthday Ron.

    Love Carol

  57. Well these (frankly bizarre) replies still don’t answer the fundamental question: given a Church that has a demonstrated history of filing copyright infringement lawsuits on the THINNEST of pretexts, why doesn’t publishing wholesale amounts of LRH text cause any concern? (Have you, Boyd and Alex, been so far out of the loop on these cases that you don’t know what I’m talking about?)

There is nothing to blow up in MY face on this one — I didn’t post it. In particular, the specific elements necessary to create a Fair Use exception seem quite lacking in the current example.

So like I said, Marty either knows something about the copyright status of these works that I don’t, or he is skating on thin ice.

  58. Jim-

Thanks for this; I didn’t see it when I wrote my most recent reply above (which may or may not make it through moderation).

I assure you I am already very well-versed on Fair Use and have read Section 107 of the US Code in its entirety, long before this board existed.

I don’t know why you are even talking about trade secrets. Henson’s copyright infringement case regarding NOTS 34 turned on copyright infringement and not trade secrets at all. RTC’s trade secret claim was dismissed.

The fact that materials are “openly published” means nothing with respect to potential infringement.

  59. Happy Birthday, LRH!

Thanks to all for honoring LRH on his Birthday. Let us continue to honor him by helping him to carry out the mission of reversing the dwindling spiral of this universe, and recovering ourselves to a state of ethical, responsible Operating Thetan.

    May we all win!

  60. Joe,
Thank you so much for this joyous Birthday song! Wonderfully appropriate for LRH!!

  61. Brendon regarding the use of the text. You never know what space you can take back untill you put your anchors out.

  62. brendon,

Why are you so worried about it?

Take a chill pill and straighten your panties out.

    Alex

  63. Hi Marty,

Would it be possible to contact your legal team with questions that an Independent may have?

    ARC,
    Alex

  64. Dear Ron,

I got into Scientology on the 29th of December 1989, around 11:pm. Just three hours before this, I was watching an interview of you. Your Life’s Work.

That was quite the day, I will never forget. I was only 21, and it ended a five year search. I joined Staff that night. Just like that.

The next day, I noticed your Office in the Org. I asked about it.

The day after, I was asked to set-up for the New Years Event. Me and a young girl got to work, at a Hall near by, I was placing setting at tables and I paused at the first, and I asked the girl if I should place a setting for you? She paused too. She didn’t know; she simply thought about it, and as if on cue, simply never invalidated me. “That’s a good question. I’m not sure.” She said.

So I set you one, and even poured you water.

It was completely unmocked by the crowed. But I never forgot you.

It disturbed me greatly, that they would unmock you. Like, taking your ash-trays and the lighters out of your Offices. That is not ok.
Clearly, there is something they do not understand. You are you. Like on this Birthday, with many of us, you are still with me. Your thoughts and intentions, a part of us.

You live in me everyday. I am very proud of that.

You help me everyday, with your friends, to make it a better day. For me and for everyone, forever. I will never forget you.

Your Birthday today was a wonderful day.

I just wanted you to know.

    ML, tony

  65. Brendon,

You deserve a good answer (that is, one that doesn’t violate the spirit of this LRH reference or otherwise manifest a games condition). But I’m afraid I don’t know the law, beyond the “fair use” doctrine. I would just say that I’m sure Marty knows what he’s doing. And the considerable value of disseminating LRH articles like this also certainly figures into the legal balancing act. In my opinion, even if there were a small legal risk, it would be worth it.

As to the ethics of possibly violating the church’s copyrights, in my opinion they have completely violated LRH’s trust and any of their rights, vis-a-vis LRH materials. I would have no ethical compunction about violating RTCs “rights” to LRH copyrights, since “violating” them by promoting their use as intended (and as aligns with the above reference) is actually salvaging LRH’s work for mankind.

  66. Victoria and Lunamoth,

Whether or not DM’s promotion and enforcement of abortions has anything to do with it, I’m quite sure that the last thing DM actually wants is for LRH to return. That would certainly mean the end of the game for DM. And LRH probably would be the only person who could end DM’s suppressive game from within the organization.

    Dear Sir,

I know you are the best friend I ever had. I mean ever, I know the tech you worked on is what I had been searching for, for centuries.

To this very day, you are the person I most admire, I most cherish, the greatest teacher I ever had, and someone to whom my allegiance is unconditional. No one has had greater influence in my life than you, and that is not because you are the only philosopher I have ever been acquainted with, far from it.

Not only am I thankful for all that you have given me, which there is not enough space for me to detail here, but for all I have been able to give others, thanks to your tech.

Happy Birthday sir, for everything. I promise you as I once before did, to:

Use Dianetics and Scientology for the greatest good for the greatest number of dynamics.

To take responsibility for the continued full and exact use of the technologies of Dianetics and Scientology

I promise to accept and fulfill to the outmost of my abilities, the responsibilities entrusted to me, whatever they may be and wherever they may carry me in the line of duty

I promise to make things go right and to persist till they do.

Thank you and Very happy birthday

Thanks Marty for such a great post

  70. Ugh, I came here to share truth and celebration and saw Brendon’s insinuations. What is Brendon saying? Out with it, man.

Is Brendon beating around the bush trying to get at something like having to pay $1000 every time someone wants to say a Hail Mary or Our Father? or ELSE?

Sarge this “Happy Birthday Sir”, triggered something in me. You have been closest to the man and call him Sir. I have served the man and his legacy to Mankind from a further away/down position but still I want to wish him Happy Birthday Sir, as a member of his dedicated crew.

  72. Theo Sismanides's avatar Theo Sismanides

    Happy Birthday Ron!!!

We give you in exchange for what you have given us a free voice on Planet Earth. After so many years. The Independents voice.

And it’s true that the stars are awaiting for us and my wish today is to meet again, all of us, one day on another plane, in another game.

But meanwhile we are here in this game and we are now the seniors in it and the sirs of our ownselves so I am wishing you too, Happy Birthday and I am thanking you for what you has given me and Mankind. I am putting myself together for the first time after so many years through this voice, the Independents voice.

And it’s true, Ron, that the game has become inorderly and confusing without you. This now is our task to put back order in it. And this is my gift to you. A win or die in the attempt, once again.

On that note guys I would like to add something:

There is definitely a worldwide crisis and a crisis in Scientology. It’s a crisis we are dealing with. All over the planet. You hear the word everyday. And we know that we have one in Scientology for many years now. If there was no crisis in Scientology we wouldn’t be here, we would be back where we were under much different conditions, in a friendly environment, in a sane environment, an environment we would like to be in. This didn’t happen because the crisis came in after Ron left.

So I would like to say something on crisis. The word is a Greek word, and the Greek word also means judgment (as judgment of the mind as well as judgement as in “judgement day”). Comes from the verb “crino” (κρίνω) meaning to judge.

So here we are in the middle of a crisis, without Ron, and we are now called upon to use our judgement (“κρίσις” in Greek) and each one of us is judged for his actions or inactions.

We can turn around the crisis by using our judgement and each one of us doing some or more things. It is not by accident that the crisis ensued after Ron left. Our judgment (κρίσις) was poor, we now start anew. This time we will not fail because we are stronger and wiser now. We are not in this for hatred, we are better trained, we are not arrogant anymore, knowledge and experience has made us humbler but wiser and we can Love our fellow Man despite everything.

We REFUSED to change in the face of bad actions against us.

And may I say that to command is to serve and LRH served man primarily so we better start serving our fellow men be they Scientologists or non Scientologists or Freezoners or Independents or whatever they maybe called.

We cannot fail this time, more responsibility is needed and ONE man, the one who takes on more Responsibility and has more Understanding (ARC?) will carry us higher.

So let’s be more humble and not arrogant anymore (much less hateful) and see what is needed and wanted to sort all this mess out.

A true leader concentrates on results only.

Are these the judgment days? In the middle of a crisis?

    I bet you they are.

  73. What is Greatness was one of my favorite LRH messages.

And one which I couldn’t fathom being able to apply.

However, I think we are given a wonderful live demo with dm, his minions to attempt to put into practice LRH’s words.

“A primary trap is to succumb to invitations to hate. There are those who appoint one their executioners. Sometimes for the sake of the safety of others, it is necessary to act, but it is not necessary also to hate them.”

Thank you Marty for continuing to honor LRH — and for LRH for his teachings.

    WH

  74. L Ron Hubbard – what a guy. I would guess more has been written about him than any other humanitarian in history. The LRH I know and it seems most others here is a man who cared. A man who wanted the best for others without reservation and with little regard for his own hardships along the way.

Isn’t it interesting that this group – portrayed by DM’s cabal as a group of squirrels and renegades – is the group who quietly and respectfully remember LRH for what he was, while he who is “uniquely qualified” to lead the Church will no doubt be using the occasion as yet another opportunity to cement his position and make more money.

  75. Brendon,
If you’ve read the statute then you get the idea of the scope of ‘fair use’. I’m going to assume you’ve read the case law too. That’s where the statute is construed, interpreted by the court and the statutory law takes on further scope.

Within the limits of the current statute and its construction are points of ‘education, scholarly discussion’ and such. None of the postings on this blog fall outside those. None are for ‘commercial’ reasons. They are meant to direct attention at the meaning of the copyrighted texts so that those that partake of them, and in relation to the CofS, are apprised of, educated towards, and much more learned about what LRH actually intended for their use. Hence, there can be no viable claim, based on either statute or case law, that the posting of acknowledged sourced bits or in some cases whole writings, have any other intention than to educate, discuss or increase understanding of the materials so that the CofS will itself correct and expand for real (it will ‘profit’).

What court based on the law, or the construction of that law, could deny those facts?

Wewax brendon, there are no laws or constructions of those laws being transgressed. Are you a scaredy cat, needing DM’s license to survive? Indeed, that whole concept is part of the actual materials, and being so, the author of the materials himself is wondering about all this fear too.

  76. CD,
Now that comment is brilliant application of the whole point of the anchor point material quoted for education purposes. You are a smarty cat arent’ you!

Brendon if the church sues, we are ALL going to be there!! 🙂

You don’t want that to happen! Neither you nor DM!

  78. hey, this is a little out of the blue, but anyone know where can I get my hands on that reference? I’ve got Nots series 1-55, plus some other misc stuff, but I know I’m missing some things. I would really like to have all of it, plus any c/sing issues. Help would be appreciated, as I’m in a co-audit.

  79. I forgot….my e-mail is beebercat@hushmail.com

  80. That’s true. CD I gotta think you have some familiarity with the materials to say something like that.

  81. Well, I am thinking back to when we had the cadet org, and of course every proud parent thought THEIR kid was an OT, haha.

Just kinda makes sense that DM had some weird motive for railroading all the kids out and forbidding reproduction.

It isn’t as if SO members were just breeding like rabbits, it’s one of the most responsible groups I have ever seen, but baring medical care and proper contraception things naturally happen.

So, I don’t know, however it does seem to fit into the puzzle quite conveniently.

  82. Jim thanks, sometimes I produce a little gem. *mrauw*

Boyd I love methaphors, I grasp their meaning.

    Joseph Wood Krutch:

“Cats are intended to teach us that not everything in nature has a function.”

  83. This is very like how the KTL course wrapped up for me in 1992 I believe. At ITO, we were done. After a long time, we finished the KTL course and … I was unimpressed. Everyone I ever heard give a win from KTL said they found their “beingness” through KTL. I had not. I went in knowing who I was, and felt I should have some new revelation.
I was sent on a walk and was writing up a SS upon my return. At the very end of the page, I kept writing and writing, I wrote down these thoughts. That I KNEW who I was.

And with the greatest of ease, and pure tone 40, Ron himself acknowledged me: “You’re right.”

I laughed, I cried, I ran out of the room. A grown freakin’ man and I damn near wet msyelf laughing and crying and being so truly, truly, truly acknowledged.

Years after he dropped the body, and I have no doubt, and will never doubt that Ron himself acknoledged me as only that Auditor of Auditors could. Maurice, thank you for posting. I’ve been dying to share this story since I found this site.

Happy Birthday, Ron! And thank you.

  84. Marty- thank you for posting this LRH essay. It is one of my favorites so grounding – keeps me focused on the most important element of one’s humanity. Why did you elect this essay out of all his writings on this day? Interested in your perspective.

  85. You’re a smart one, CD. But I already knew that. Not to mention that anyone who considers himself a Cat Daddy obviously has a heart as well as a brain. 🙂

  86. Thanks for sharing that story, Bozz. It’s a great one.

Ron is the epitome of what he wrote in What is Greatness. This is perfect for his birthday.

  88. LRH is responsible for introducing several observable phenomenon upon society.

  89. I always know that I and we are a part of the ultimate win and this is why I came here to be a part of bringing that about.
No one or group taking the position of enemy can stop it. Rons birthday is ours for the advancement and well being of each and every being The Ultimate Win.
