Tempest in Taiwan

Verjanso Yang & Sarah Forster

Dear Friends,

There are innumerable times throughout history when people have felt compelled to gather, to protest, to comment on this thing called ‘Freedom’.  The year 2012 is thought to be the end of the world for some people and organizations but for us 2012 has been an amazing and wonderful year.  Through it’s trials we have come to question this concept of freedom and arrive at a conclusion that has left us in an awakened state of being.  Life has many blessings to offer and the realization as to the cause of our suppression as a Field Group and as individual beings has left us with expanded dynamics and the feeling of being free and cause.

I am a New OTV, a GAT Class V Auditor and Purif C/S and PTS Specialist.  Whilst a public of the AOSH ANZO I assisted this organization by doing A-J’s on more than 200 people, more than 50 peoples’ Objective Correction Lists as well as auditing Sea Org Members up the Bridge.   I am trained to handle all kinds of PTSness except Type III and I deliver people all the way from the Purif to Clear.  In fact, I am the first Taiwanese auditor to this day who can deliver from the Purif all the way to Clear.  I am the first Taiwanese Senior Minister that was ever made.  I was the first Taiwanese who co-audited to Clear.  I was the first person to go to China and make the first Clear in China.   And now I am the first highly trained Class V Taiwanese Auditor to publically depart.   For the following reasons this is a letter to all our friends but also an official statement of our resignation from the Church of Scientology.  This letter contains what we think about Freedom and Religion and is a discussion about our experiences which have led us to question things.  It is an open discussion of our concerns and what has ultimately led us to making the decision we have to leave the Church.  It is by no means an absolute on ‘how things are’ just an expression of our concerns and experiences.

How strong should we hold our freedom? We of the Church Believe:  …that no agency less than God has the power to suspend or set aside these rights, overtly or covertly.

Last year we had our highest stats ever as a Field Group however last year we also encountered the most suppression.  We wrote KRs and communicated but in the end when nothing changed and patterns already established as a culture in the church repeated themselves we were forced to ask ourselves ‘who is reading our KRs?’.  The suppressive was one against which we could not defend ourselves.  This is not surprising when you consider that the biggest enemy is always the one that comes from within and that we as a group are forbidden from talking together in social circles about donation cycles, regging cycles and other taboos when they actually need the pressure of a whole group to change but this is considered talking to the “incorrect terminal” or “black PR”.     Finally we were forced to ask ourselves what is this thing called Freedom?  If a Class V, OTV who has helped hundreds of people is not someone who can be trusted to give you his experience who else is qualified to tell you this information?

After 4 months of thorough investigation we discovered that what I am about to tell you is just the tip of the iceberg but I believe you will have reality on what I am talking about.

The Church Creed says:  We of the Church Believe – That all men have inalienable         rights to their own religious practices and their performance.

This is violated, our freedom is violated when policy was and is violated again and again.  You will understand what I am talking about if you have been a Scientologist for some time.  The donation cycles, the financial irregularities, – I was paid only twice in six months of service for working full time and very long hours at a Scientology mission.  I have seen missions and orgs stealing pcs from one another and black PRing auditors in order to do so.  I KRed it and nothing changed.  Even when I finished my Class V auditor training and started my Field Group I continued to see the out-policy, out-tech things occurring.  In fact when I started my field group I discovered that Field Groups are the bottom of the food chain.  Arbitrary rules are imposed such as – ‘Field groups are forbidden to deliver the Purif’ even though there is no policy for it and LRH expressly says on the grade chart that we can.  This is my experience and this is the beginning of what caused me to question things.   I was, like most other Scientologists acting like a turtle.  I would see something wrong but because some of the tech works and for the sake of my ‘eternity’ I convinced myself that “it’s normal”.  I have come to realize that this attitude will lead to sacrificing my integrity and in turn any gains that I could have in life.  By sacrificing our integrity ‘for our eternity’ or for the so-called ‘greater good’ we in fact lose our integrity and ourselves.   We lose our freedom.

It is my personal belief and opinion that the letter written by Debbie Cook was a good explanation of what some of those off-policy things are.  I suggest that you read it.  Examine it.  Don’t be reasonable about it and don’t just believe what the Church management says without you personally examining the situation.  Come to your own decision about it.   Go to http://mrssmith.pixnet.net/blog/post/27973352

The Church Creed says:  “We believe that the Laws of God forbid man  to destroy or reduce the survival of one’s companions”

Isn’t it wrong to push someone into debt?  Doesn’t it violate LRH’s financial policy?   HCO PL 28 JAN 1965 , How to maintain credit standing and solvency   “Make it before you can spend it.”   This link is informative –  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zLkZI2tm6cQ   If you are an OT reading this you will have reality on what I am about to say.  Instead of paying for our own and our family’s Bridge we are bombarded with requests from the IAS to donate.  In fact, when you attempt to leave these events staff members will stand in front of the door and obstruct your departure. Taiwan has become an easy touch for donations.  IAS Events that occur once a year in other countries happen a few times a year in Taiwan.  In fact, the first time the Freewinds Captain came on land to be in an event was in Taiwan.  That’s how much money Taiwan donates.

I believe no religion should ask or demand people to donate a particular and substantial sum of money to prove that they are part of that religion.   The average salary in Taiwan is approx. $1300.00AU per month meaning that the average Senior Scientologist who was not independently wealthy before coming into Scientology is now heavily in debt.  Many people are pushed to borrow money to go up the Bridge.  Some sell their houses, get loans, max their credit cards – do whatever is necessary.  Ask them who they borrowed the money from?  When do they expect they can pay it back?  It even goes to the extent that if you don’t know how to borrow money from friends or family the Reg will help you.  This is one ability you really do get from the Church.   If you don’t believe what I say ask your Clear and OT friends.

The Church Creed says:  “And we of the Church believe that the laws of God forbid Man  to destroy or enslave another’s soul.”

Enslavement occurs when a tech that was supposed to set people free is altered.  One piece of evidence can be seen at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jG9X0gEedDs.  When the Basics were released management told us that this was necessary because SPs had altered them.  And yet…at this time they were altered.  The PDC tapes are altered.  See the evidence at the above link.  This leads me to question what is going on.   That there have been alterations should not be doubted.  We have all been interested in keeping the tech pure and thought that this is what RTC was doing. Many of these alterations were highlighted in Debbie Cooks letter but the rest can be found on other places on the internet.

One of these that is of big concern is that these ‘6-month checks’ or ‘refreshers’ for OTVIIs that OTs spend thousands on every 6 months are actually out tech.   The reference for this is: “b. Pre-OTs in the area between the beginning of New OT VI (Solo NOTs Auditing Course) and the completion of New OT VII (Solo NOTs) may not receive any other auditing, with the exception of those services allowed in the No-Interference Area (between the start of New OT I and the completion of OT III) for pre-OTs who are stalled or moving slowly.  – LRH (HCOB 23 Dec 71RB, Solo Series 10RB, C/S Series 73RB The No-Interference Area Clarified and Reinforced, Subject Volume 1 [in the Tech Vols], page 252) Now as far as the part saying “…with the exception of those services allowed in the No-Interference Area (between the start of New OT I and the completion of OT III) for pre-OTs who are stalled or moving slowly” is concerned, the same bulletin lists, earlier, what actions are allowed for pre-OTs who are stalled or moving slowly. However, the section that lists those actions begins with a major qualifying statement before listing which actions are allowable.  I will quote the qualifying statement and the list of allowable actions: “Pre-OTs progressing well in the No-Interference Area should not be interfered with by Sec Checking or anything else.  However, when a pre-OT is stalled or moving slowly, any of the actions listed below, as appropriate, can be ordered by a qualified C/S….

  1. Nonaudited PTS handlings
  2. Confessionals and O/Ws
  3. The handling of postulates, considerations, attitudes, evil purposes or evil intentions (False Purpose Rundown)
  4. Service Fac handling (bracket method only, no R3RA)
  5. Disagreement Checks.

 – LRH (HCOB 23 Dec 71RB, Solo Series 10RB, C/S Series 73RB The No-Interference Area Clarified and Reinforced, Subject Volume 1 [in the Tech Vols], page 252)

So yes there are conditions under which someone on OT VII can receive a Sec Check.  However, that doesn’t meant that EVERY person on Solo NOTs has to receive Sec Checking every six month REGARDLESS of whether or not they are stalled or moving slowly or they are progressing well. This is again a huge violation of the HCOB.  Again this costs the Scientologist public thousands of dollars. The Church Creed says:  “We of the Church believe… That his survival depends upon himself and upon his fellows and his attainment of brotherhood with the Universe.”   How is brotherhood with the Universe achieved, freedom achieved in a system focused on statistics?   Due to the focus on statistics it is my experience that the staff are more interested in how fast you can finish the course rather than how much gain you have had or how much you can apply it in life.

Most Scientologists begin with their Ups and Downs in Life Course and how many are REALLY free from suppression at the end of it?  How many REALLY apply the tech and are REALLY free from suppression?  As a Field Auditor I often have mission public calling me and telling me their problems.  I ask them if they know the PTS tech.  I have been totally shocked when time after time I get the answer – what is PTS?  Or that you cannot be PTS to a social personality?   If they have MUs how did they pass the course?   You will definitely have had the experience that when you finish one course you are immediately regged for another.  It is a non-stop cycle.  Sometimes it takes one reg to convince you, sometimes more than one.

I have come to my own personal conclusion that there are people and staff members who are there to help, but the Church management is all about the money.  Most people say they got their wins from LRH tech but I never heard it’s from Church management.   My opinion is that at the bottom of all the out-policy actions and the culture of heavy regging there is a strong focus on money and statistics.   Why aren’t we given a report of where our donations go?  What is wrong with transparency? This is a quality of a free society.

The Church Creed says:  “That all men have inalienable rights to think freely, to talk freely, to write freely their own opinions and to counter or utter or write upon the opinions of others.”

I haven’t had the freedom to read whatever I want to read or say whatever I want to say.  I was heavily punished after a Sec Check because I watched the DVD ‘The Secret’.  The basis of the theory of the Secret was written over a 100 years ago.  LRH wasn’t even a baby when it was written and yet I was punished because it was ‘squirrel’.   I haven’t had the freedom to write what I think or to express myself.  According to those indoctrinated in this Scientology management culture whatever I say or whatever I think is ‘all because of my education in the Church’.  I cannot have my own opinion.  The reason I have come to this conclusion is that several times when I have expressed my opinion I have been told that it is a Scientology concept and so it is ‘mixing the tech’.  The people who say this of course have never actually word cleared the word ‘Tech’ in the dictionary.  The concept of Karma is not tech.  It is not even from Scientology.   So everything I say is not me it is Scientology.  In Taiwan we would say that this is just Korean – everything comes from them.   To continue to be in Scientology I would need to be careful of what I said and actually it would be better if I didn’t say anything at all.     Some of you will be aware that because of my blog I was able to directly and indirectly encourage 28 people onto Class V auditor training packages at the AOSH ANZO.  If you have been following my blog you will notice two of my blogs are now closed because the primary articles on it were ordered to be closed by OSA.  This was the result of a huge wrong target.  When we were being ‘handled’ our Scientology friend was told that ‘our comm lines were closed’ however when we called that OSA staff they would not come to the phone.   OSA has not done the job they were supposed to do.  Their job is to protect the OT data and keep the good reputation of Scientology and make the internet a safe environment for Scientology.  Instead what they have done is prevent Scientologists from talking about Scientology.

People who are by some considered ‘anti-Scientologists’ have free reign making it very difficult for the staff member to promote Scientology.   We have been told not to go on the internet to read that so-called ‘entheta news’.  It doesn’t matter that after OTIII we are supposed to be free from overwhelm or that we have the PTS tech.  That ‘entheta news’ is to a large degree many people talking about their experience in the Church and what happened to them.  The reason that this is largely unknown in Taiwan is that a lot of it is not translated into Chinese.   When we agree to not read other books, to only get our information from ‘acceptable and approved’ sources, which are only the Church, we are ‘obedient’.  We lose our ability to be free because we are not able to have access to all the information that is out there.  We are thus unable to make an informed decision based on all the facts for ourselves.  We need to be able to compare texts to be able to make an informed decision.  This restriction on our ability to inform ourselves is just obedience and control.   The church says ‘don’t look’ so you don’t look.  There is no difference between this and the book burning that has occurred in other countries at various times throughout history.   The church says ‘don’t question’ so you just don’t question.

What does LRH say about this? “I don’t expect auditors or Scientologists to instantly agree with  or seize upon whatever I say.  I would be offended if they did and would feel they weren’t a Free People. Since they are intelligent I expect them to think over what’s said, try it, and if  it’s good for them, use it. ”         PAB 79 ,10 April 1956 , The open channel

There is no LRH reference that says you shouldn’t read things from other sources.  This is an arbitrary and amounts to mind control that has been introduced.   The result is that we largely didn’t know what was happening all over the world.  Did you know all 8 of the Class XIIs personally trained by LRH have been declared SPs? https://markrathbun.wordpress.com/2012/03/02/ They were the only Class XIIs he personally trained and they are declared.  We are being kept ignorant when we live in an information access age.   Does that sound like an outpoint?

The Church Creed says:   “And we of the Church believe that the laws of God forbid Man – To destroy his own kind.  To destroy the sanity of another.”

This is a matter of personal integrity.  There have been allegations and public statements made that there is a place called a Hole where members of the Sea Org are kept in extremely bad conditions and not aloud to leave.  There are other allegations where staff have been physically assaulted and bullied.  See the link   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Htn1PauZUYs There is no circumstance under which this would be acceptable.  No circumstance.  That is someone’s child, someone’s wife or husband, someone’s auditor.  Freedom cannot be bought through the slavery of others.  You can get more information about this from the internet.  I want to impress that these are as yet only allegations but they were stated in a court of law in Texas recently.   A person who says their purpose is to ‘clear the planet’ and then institutes something like this is both psychotic and disgusting.

The Church Creed says:  “We of the Church believe:  That all men have inalienable rights to their own lives.”

To a person who is not a Scientologist it seems so ridiculous why a person cannot leave the Church.  They don’t understand that people, friends and families will be forced to disconnect.  The practice of disconnection is in full use by church officials today, despite the policy being canceled by LRH more than 40 years ago.   See HCO PL 15 November 1968, “Cancellation of Disconnection”. When asked about it the Church denies that it happens.  But it does!   There is no reason that individual people need to agree to be suppressed by putting up with rules imposed by people who are not LRH.

Some of you will be aware that before I was in Scientology I took a course with another group.  It is not declared.  OSA has been fully aware of this group for over ten years.  The group holder’s ex-wife is even a Sea Org member indicating that obviously OSA doesn’t have a problem with that group.  It has been investigated several times by auditors and staff members over the years but it STILL has not been declared. To this day it is not declared. The founder of the group was previously a Scientologist but now uses methods that are not related to Scientology. However, the former members of this group have had their OT levels obstructed because of this.   Now we feel free!

LRH’s tech has helped my wife and I a lot over the years.  However, we have gone as far as we can in this group and our spiritual journey has taken us to the next level.  This has led to the expansion of our dynamics and discoveries of abilities that we didn’t know we had.   Your bridge is available outside.   Some of you might be thinking…but what about your public?  What about their OT levels?   There are auditors who are using the original LRH tech (LRH’s Org) outside and they can deliver all the way to OTVIII and the L’s run down.  Unfortunately, as far as I know I am the only one who can deliver PCs to Clear in Taiwan but your bridge is also available overseas.  It is not a small number of auditors and organizations.

I always have a stable datum in my mind which is that ‘if ethics is out the tech won’t go in” It’s comes from HCO PL 4 April 1972, ETHICS. According to this if there is an out-ethics situation and you decide to close your eyes to it you will not get the case gain that you should have.   I believe you have the same reality that when you see some OTs or Clears but you really didn’t see the product that they were suppose to be – people with financial problems, physical problems and marital problems.  This was my biggest question when I became more involved with the Church.

If you think you can have one eye open and one eye closed and just get what you want and escape the rest you won’t get what you came into Scientology to achieve. This attitude leads to a roller coaster.  This is PTS.  The worst part is that we pay a lot of money for that product.   If you have doubt on anything I have said you should investigate for yourself and not just rely on the church’s official statement.

Read the information that is out in the public domain, that way you can make an informed opinion.

“What is true for you is what you have observed yourself.  And when you lose that you have lost everything.” Personal Integrity from Feb 1961 Ability magazine.

Conclusion   We write this to clear the confusion of why we have left the Church.  According to personal integrity if I didn’t write this letter and tell you about this it would be our omission.  Writing this letter to you will mean that I will automatically be labeled an SP and you will be asked by the Church to disconnect from me.  You will be told to consider me an enemy.  To all my Scientology friends it has been a real pleasure to know you.  Some of you will remain in contact with me but some of you will not.  For those of you who will disconnect I hope you get your freedom under the Church and for those of you who choose to keep their personal integrity I will see you on the other side sooner or later.   This wave is starting and is getting bigger and is a huge tornado that is happening all over the world.  I don’t know the future of this religion, I can only suspect.  This letter is not going to tell you how this is going to end.  I write to you because this is how it is beginning.  This letter is something the Church doesn’t want you to see.  This is a message that religion should have freedom.  A religion without controls and a focus on money and where the suppression of freedom doesn’t occur is possible.  Where you go from there is a choice I leave to you.

Kind Regards,

Verjanso Yang & Sarah Forster

Meet the Editors – What Is Wrong With Scientology?

The book What Is Wrong With Scientology is likely to be rather controversial to Scientologists.  It addresses some Scientology sacred cows in a fashion that may cause some uneasiness, even among independent Scientologists.  Think of this old Zen proverb before shying away: Unless the medicine stuns you, it won’t cure the disease.

One of the reasons I asked a couple of  Scientology technical experts to serve as editors of the book was to function as a reality check that my radical-at-first-blush ideas were technically sound.  Another reason is because in describing what is wrong with Scientology, I tell what Scientology is, or what it was intended to be by L. Ron Hubbard.  As you can see below, nobody likely has a better reality on both scores than my two editors.

The Editors of What Is Wrong With Scientology?

Dan Koon

Dan was introduced to Scientology in 1969 at the Berkeley California Scientology Mission.  He joined staff there in 1971.  Between 1974 and 1976 he audited to the state of Clear and trained through the St Hill Special Briefing Course (an intensive two to three year study of all lectures and writings covering the entire development of Dianetics and Scientology) at an advanced Scientology organization in Los Angeles.  In 1977 Dan joined the Sea Organization (Scientology’s priesthood) and was stationed at Scientology’s international headquarters for the next twenty-seven years.  He worked directly with Scientology Founder L. Ron Hubbard on technical training films produced to help perfect the art and science of Scientology counseling. He spent thirteen years as a senior researcher and writer for the L Ron Hubbard Technical Compilations Unit. That group searched, organized and compiled Hubbard’s Scientology writings in accordance with Hubbard’s written wishes. Dan left the organization in December 2003 when after years of deteriorating liberties it had taken on the character of an insular cult.  Dan is a painter and writer.  He also continues to consult independent Scientology practitioners. He lives with his wife Mariette in her native Sweden.

Russell Williams

Russ got involved in Scientology in 1974 in Phoenix Arizona. He joined the Sea Organization in early 1975 and served for the next thirty years.  For the first seven years Russ held a wide variety of posts directly involved with the delivery of Scientology training and auditing.  During the 80s and early 90s, Russ worked in the LRH Technical Compilations Unit – along with Dan Koon, for several of those years. During the early 80s Russ also corresponded regularly with L. Ron Hubbard, coordinating the compilations of Hubbard’s work into books, reference volumes, and course packs.  In the mid-90s, Russ worked for a stint in Scientology’s international management, as the highest authority over the delivery of Scientology services.  Finally, after spending several years in a Scientology concentration camp (described in more detail in this book) Russ decided his dignity and integrity required he break ties with Scientology Inc.  In 2004 he moved back to Phoenix, where he works as a freelance writer, editor and photographer, consults independent Scientologists, and enjoys life.

Indie 500 Update – Brad Halsey #340

News Flash. The real action in the Indie 500 occurred at Steve Hall’s Scientology-cult.com.  Brad Halsey roared out of the house!

I am gonna’ try and keep this write-up short and sweet.

I was on staff for D.C. Fdn. from 1987 to 1997 (was on tech posts the entire time).

I trained as an Outer Org Trainee at FLAG as part of the Class 8 Senior C/S training program from 1992 to 1996, an Int program that drew 135 people from around the world begining in 1992.

I was there at FLAG when the Golden Age of Tech was released in 1996. At that time only 2 of 135 people had completed that Class 8 Senior C/S training program. That program was a collossal failure at that point in time, based purely on that one stat.

I saw that it was going to add two more years to what had already been a 4-year stay, so I quit and went home.

Can you imagine training for 4 years straight on a Sea Org schedule, where you never get a day off because you are overdue on course? And then on top of that, you now have to do the whole Golden Age of Tech lineup? OMG man, they defeated me with that one, for sure.

Two months later I am back at my org with every intention to finish up my contract, and a golden rod comes down from Flag that says all my previous certs were cancelled and that I have to train from Student Hat all the way up again. At that point I routed out. I was done with it.

I was already Word Clearer interned and Class 4 interned with about 1500 hours in the chair as an auditor when I arrived at Flag for higher training, and at the time I left had completed the full theory of the BC and all auditing requirements on Level O.

I can’t tell you how frustrating it was knowing that all the while I was there, they only made it harder and harder to complete.

It’s just plain, flat-out suppression.

Net result: “make it so nobody can get through.”

By obvious design, Miscavige has now made it so you can’t get up either side of the Bridge:

1. Who has the money to pay Org prices for auditing? (especially with the insistence nowadays that you give it all to the IAS in exchange for nothing in return.)

2. Even if you can afford training, who wants to be on training courses for the rest of their lives, never to even find the damned Auditor’s chair? OMG, LRH would just be aghast if he saw today’s lineup of “prerequisites” to Auditor training.

Anybody who cannot see that this is a blatant effort to KILL OFF all Auditor training is just blind as a damned bat!

And if you want to see a very nice presentation of statistical analysis over the past several decades, I highly recommend you go to the site called “Friends of LRH” and read the series there called “What Happened to Training.”

Wow, is that a good write-up! Especially from my own point of view of having lived it and been the effect of it.

There are so many things wrong in Scientology today that have all been so well documented on this site and others, that I need not go into any additional detail on any of that.

We all know how wrong it’s all gone.

Bottom line – there is a raging SP named David Miscavige at the top and he’s your WHY for all of it.

Thanks to the advent of the Internet, there is now tons of ample evidence, you just have to open your eyes to it.

There’s only one thing to do and that’s just choose whose side you’re on.

Please add my name to the Indie 500 list.

Thanks,
Brad Halsey

Marilyn Brewer

THIS IS MY COMING OUT STORY

Marilyn Brewer

I got into Scientology in summer of 1971 at the mission in Phoenix, AZ.  This was shortly after high school, did a little college in Tucson, AZ, and continued at the mission in Tucson, AZ where I received Standard Dianetics, objectives and ARC Straightwire.

I eventually ended up at the newly formed “CC Phoenix” under Doreen Casey, the ED and the org was a Sea Org org.  Joined the Sea Org and was sent to LA to train as a Flag Rep for Phoenix.  I was kept in LA and became the D/FR ASHO Day (under Val Mazzafari and Ingeborg Steinberg the FR WUS).

Then I was transferred to Sacramento org as FR Sacramento until went to Flag (RONY, Relay Office NY) where Flag management was while CW was being put together.  We were in Queens along with Jill Carlstrom, Alan Buchanan, Diana Hubbard, Roger Barnes, David Light, Grumps (Ron Gablehouse) and Liz Gablehouse, and George Cuthbertson (our famous cook).

I arrived by bus to Clearwater Nov ’75 just in time for Christmas. I was then the FR EU/UK, Org Manager EU/UK, Management Aide (all in the Flag Bureaux). I did lots of missions to EU/UK.

In 1977 I was on OEC/FEBC training Flag with Mike Rinder, Jens Bogvad, Hank Laarhus, Joyce Colt with Chuck Beatty supervising. In 1981 set up WISE, then off  to St. Hill to set up SMI Int.

Back to LA in 1982.  June ’82 my husband Ed Brewer was killed in a car accident in the hills of Glendale, CA.  (Certain amount of mystery around that still. Church management did not tell all on this. )

After Ed died, I went back to SMI Int in LA.  (was gone for the time period when de-dinging got its start in the mission network).  As a result of being gone and not getting “tainted” by the de-dinging, when I returned I was sent to the mission holders conference in San Francisco as the SMI rep.  The story of this infamous conference has been covered a thousand times.  It was a massacre and in my opinion the beginning of the end of Scientology as we knew it.

Back in LA I did an eval to “sort out the Bridge”.  Due to the success of that eval I got pulled to Int as D/ED Int for Establishment.  (Marilyn omitted here that LRH was impressed by her eval on the bridge sort out and it was a wildly effective eval). At the time there were 4 people in Exec Strata, (ED Int-Guillaume Leserve, Jens Urshkov-D/ED Int Production, Peter Specker-Qual Exec Int and myself).  It was my job to man it up and get everyone hatted.  So I began the process.  It took me over a year to get all the posts filled but I did it with lots of missions out around the world.

One of the last posts to be filled was a major post turnover cycle that started at the mission level, progressed to and through a Cl IV org, to AOSHEU and finally arriving at Flag.  This turned into a 6 month job to get Freddie Hunsicker, the last person to fill the last post, properly replaced.  As soon as he arrived ED Int got prompt orders from Vicki Aznaran to turn Freddie over to man up CST. Guillaume landed more bricks on me.  I screamed and yelled it was “off policy”.  His response was “If we didn’t do it, then Vicki would take Jens Urshkov (our only real evaluator at the time).  My heart was broken and I just thought there was no way to enforce policy.

Then along came DM (David Miscavige).  Every week we had to write up a “Weekly Report” for our area to be forwarded to seniors ultimately landing with DM for final summary to LRH.  We as Int Execs never got to see the outgoing summary, but always saw the incoming letter from LRH.  I concluded by the responses coming in that LRH was being lied to by DM.  I concluded that based on the fact that LRH’s response did not fit “the scene” at Int Mgmt.  With only a single viewpoint to operate from, the multiple viewpoint system was lost.  The odds were not too good.  That was all in 1984.

Finally left the Sea Org because David Miscaviage kept coming down to see ED Int and telling him of certain celebrities 2D peccadilloes after he read reports and worksheets of these celebrities.  This was gross.

By the beginning of 1985, I was gone to Canada to see Ed’s family. Now out of the SO  I stayed 2 years then came back to the states, ending up in Portland, OR with a large Scientology field.  I went back to med school, only this time for Chinese Medicine/ Acupuncture.  I just celebrated my 20th year reunion last year since graduating. I have been a practicing acupuncturist/Chinese herbalist and Dr. of Chinese Medicine for that period of time.

When landing in Portland I got back on lines at CC Ptld.  (Too much story to go into)  Mid 90s was ready for some L’s and took off to Flag for L11/12.  I was training as an auditor at Ptld when along came GAT.  I was at the end of the rope.  I slowly drifted away and moved back to Phoenix to be closer to family.

Closer to PT in 2009 I was diagnosed with breast cancer.  I became an Indie (in my mind, unofficially) but due to all the time devoted from me to fight this, I didn’t need any outside distractions.  So now my fight is nearly up and I have nothing to lose and wanted to officialize my Indie status.

Last year I found out that Tom Martiniano (who I hadn’t known before) and Linda McCarthy were in Phoenix.  I was so thrilled to meet up again, especially Linda because we were roomies back in the early days at the FH (Fort Harrison hotel, at Flag in Clearwater).  She has always been a good friend – but now she is a sister to me.  Tom is my fantastic auditor.  I don’t know if you can imagine someone with a heart so big to do all that was necessary on me to get me onto NOTs.  We had planned to do a 3-way round robin on NOTS, but it didn’t work out on my end….but no worries because Hayden James and Lucy have picked up the slack.

I’m telling you all of this now because in the RCS I would never have had the opportunity to receive this auditing.  As usual when you apply standard tech you get amazing results.  I would have awful pain and go into session only to come out with no pain.  After many months with Tom, it really is a miracle:  I have no pain.  My nurses and even my family can’t believe it. And while the cancer is not cured this lifetime, I’m 100% sure that I will never see the likes of breast cancer ever again.  Tom and Linda were there for me on more than one occasion to pull me out of some real rough situations.  Tom and I finished a few weeks ago and I’m spiritually in the best place I’ve ever been.  This current body has a lot of difficulty breathing and so it will be cast away for new shiny model.  I’m looking very forward to it and plan to be heading to Italy and wine country!  If you have any suggestions, let me know.

It’s been such an honor and pleasure to hear the stories of the ex-SO/RCSers; both Indies and non-Indies alike.  Old kindred spirits.  I thank you all in advance for the fabulous support and until the next time… Bon Voyage.

The Game Where Everybody Wins

A new necessarily quiet-for-the-time-being independent told me that he wanted to make a big contribution to the cause.  He asked what do I really need or want.  Knowing he was flush at the moment and was intimating he was thinking monetary contribution, my snap answer was $12,755 so that everybody who paid into the Indies Defense Fund for the Battle of San Antonio could be made whole just like those who contributed directly to Debbie and Wayne were. I’ll be a monkey’s uncle if that individual didn’t cut a check on the spot.

I have a list of every contributor to the fund and the amount donated that was made through my blog’s donate page.  I don’t have an address for anybody.  Please, everyone who contributed for the Cook defense through my blog’s donate page (or mailed one in directly to me) e-mail me with your name and address where I can send a check to.

Some have stated they would pledge the money to some other worthy sub purpose if they ever got it back.  Still, I need to write you a check; you are free to do whatever you want with it.  But, in order to save me (and us by extension) unwarranted taxation I need to administer this fund in that fashion.  If you wish for the money to remain in the fund itself, you can also let me know by email.  In a reasonable time – once I’ve heard from most everyone – I’ll report on what remains in the defense fund, and will therefore be available should the need arise.

Personally, I think it would be perfect poetic justice for you all to get your contributions back to use as you see fit; so don’t be shy.  I look forward to the day when I can tell you who it was that I wrote a check to you on behalf of.   Poetic justice is beautiful thing.

So, email me your address.

Hy Levy is in the Hereafter

Hy Levy passed away in his sleep last night.   A couple weeks earlier he told Mosey and me that this was just the manner in which he wished to pass. He died of complications caused by cancer.   Hy was diagnosed late last year.  He chose not to fight it.

Hy felt blessed to have friends like Pat Shannon, Carol Kramer, Laura and Mike Wilson and his brothers and sister-in-law.  They went out of their way to try to convince and facilitate Hy to fight the cancer.  When Hy made it clear that that did not align with his intentions, those friends did everything they could to support him, comfort him and buoy Hy’s spirits.

Hy particularly loved being Jewish-mothered (his words) by Pat, Carol, and Mosey.  He even took to calling Mosey “Sophie” when he wanted to let her know he noticed the extra care.

We were honored and blessed to host Hy for nearly the entire month of April.   Hy worked with me for a few days on rehabilitating his confidence on exteriorizing from the body.  Once he felt comfortable with that all he wanted to do was enjoy himself.  Hy considered Casablanca was his Shangri-La, he sent us a copy of Capra’s original 1937 Lost Horizon so we would fully understand the significance to him.  He just wanted to be here, sleep when he wanted, get up when he wanted, sit by the canal in the sun or shade scratching Chiquita’s belly and having long calls with Pat or Carol or his family members, taking long drives with me and talking about the hereafter, but most of all getting fussed over by Mosey.   Hy’s favorite song was Live Like You Were Dying.  It inspired him to make up a bucket list for his last couple weeks here. It wasn’t as dramatic or adventurous as in the movie by the same title, but it was what Hy wanted.  Thanks to the saint-like support of Laura and Mike Wilson and Mike Laws and Yvonne Schick, Mosey and I to were able to help Hy accomplish his bucket list to his satisfaction.

Hy chilling to Jimmy Buffett on a sunset cruise

Hy wanted to stay, but felt he needed to get back to spend time with his family and have a proper Jewish funeral.  That was carried out early this afternoon.

Hy did a lot of good for a lot people.

He was from the old school of Scientology registration.  Sure, he had to make his money quotas. But, Hy was concerned with doing whatever he could to facilitate people to move up the Bridge.  As Scientology Inc became increasingly commercial and greedy in it is registration practices, Hy Levy found himself getting into trouble for helping Scientologists navigate around the crush, hard-sell pressure to give up their homes and retirements funds.  The last ‘crime’ Hy Levy was punished for in corporate Scientology was helping a person to reverse a transaction that Scientology Inc had performed on that person’s account without the individual’s consent.   Hy had to stick his neck out to undo larceny committed by Scientology Inc on its own public. Shortly after Hy parted ways with the corporation.

All Hy really wanted to do was to prove to himself he could catch up with the computer programming profession he had left for more than twenty years, and make enough money to enjoy the simplicity of freedom.   Hy accomplished that with flying colors.

Hy could have left it at that.  But, Hy cared about people.  He cared about Scientology being hijacked and used to harm rather than help people.   To speak out would be tantamount to forfeiting the quiet simplicity he longed for and attained.  Against his own self interest, Hy stood up and spoke out loud.  He exposed the Scientology Inc. money machine,  see Tampa Times The Money Machine.  By doing so, Hy saved a lot of people from facing financial ruination at the the hands of corporate Scientology.

Hy will always be a hero in my book.

He will always be our friend.

We love you Hy Levy.

Declaration of Independence

Max Bleiweiss (aka VBMax)   Indie 500 #331         19 May 2012

The time has come to announce publically that I am no longer a member of the Church of Scientology and am joining the group of Independent Scientologists that follow the applied religious philosophy of L. Ron Hubbard. This was not a difficult decision to make; the only difficulties encountered were in communicating with “friends” and relatives. This, mostly, did not go well but I was prepared for any eventuality.

I’ve been a Scientologist since 1973 and first heard of it through a job ad in an L.A. newspaper. I had recently returned to the U.S. after 5 years overseas and needed work so I went down to the old L.A. Org near Alvarado St. for a job interview. The receptionist asked me to have a seat on the couch and I read through the “Scientology Picture Book” which was on the coffee table in front of me. I thought to myself, “This is really interesting!” Then, I was taken to view the LRH video interview with Tony Hitchman which also piqued my interest. Next, the Div 6 Reg enlightened me about the Comm Course (HAS) and I found myself on the course within a few minutes.

That fantastic, little $25 course blew my case to smithereens and made me a Scientologist for life!

And so it was that I entered into a staff contract after a few days with only a comm course under my belt. I won’t bore you with all the details of the insanities I witnessed and became part of while on staff there. Suffice it to say that it differed greatly from what I was learning in my staff hatting. And some of the crazy execs I encountered back then are still infamous to this day. But, as I said, I was a Scientologist for life so I soldiered on. I finished my contract in 1976 and this brings up a point in a recent Marty post about the Church’s running a “can’t have” on auditor training even back then. Part of the exchange for my employment was training to Class IV but there was no way I could get trained while doing my post since I was never studentable, worked day and night, even all-nighters and had to moonlight on the weekends just to pay rent in some downstat rooming house. So, I waited till I finished my contract to route on and start my Class IV training. But the Org didn’t allow it; they said it had to have been done during the contract time.

I spent the next couple of years as a public, was on the NED course at ASHO in 1979 and had the good fortune to be audited to Clear by my twin. We both went to a briefing about Superpower and were recruited into the SO to get personally trained by LRH as Superpower auditors. (Think about it, that was 33 years ago and still no Superpower.) Now, part of my think about joining the SO was that it was LRH’s Org, so naturally very sane and ethical. Oops…. It turned out to be just as nutty as my L.A. Org experience if not more so. I never did get to go uplines for that promised auditor training but the good news is I did get the HKTL training and applied it as the HKTL Pilot I/C and Sup from 1980-1983 at NWCI.

I also had various misadventures including some squirrel ethics and justice applied to me. I finally wound up on the PAC RPF in 1983 with a bunch of other really upstat staff members. In 1985, I was fitness boarded out of the SO for medical reasons; during one of my “ethics handlings” (the Running Program pilot), I’d turned on some serious health problems that still exist to this day.  So I was a public once again.

Like so many others, I have spent a lot of time and money since, trying to get up the Bridge, but it’s been 10 years since my last services. In 2002 I came to Flag for OTVI & VII after selling my house in L.A. and buying the package with the proceeds.  I was one of the people on a list that was compiled for a program to produce 10,000 NOTS auditors.  I felt like I was doing my duty to make it to Flag as part of the program, and in fact I arrived on precisely my target date.  However, those last services at Flag were a dog’s breakfast and I just wasn’t willing to continue any longer. It included invalidation of Clear, attempting to run Dianetics on me and a demand for additional, unnecessary sec checking by RTC after the Flag C/S had OKed me to attest.

At that time I had no idea how bad things actually were. It wasn’t until the Debbie Cook cycle that I found out how bad. In fact if it were not for a teaser on TV about an upcoming Debbie Cook interview I would probably still be in blinders. The rest is of course history, I did my due diligence, followed the trial, found “Friends of LRH” and other significant links. I never dreamed that I would ever go to a website titled “Scientology-cult.com” but that one turned out to be a very important one, as well as this one. In fact, the day I decided to leave the Church was the day I found Marty’s blog which was also the day of Ronnie Bell’s great declaration writeup. I was, as I put it then, in anguish at what I had found and didn’t want to believe it but it had to be confronted. And confront it I have, and I’ve come through it with flying colors thanks to all of you independents out there. You gave me back my hope when it all looked so hopeless. And now I’m a part of the team, the team I always wanted to be on to begin with.  So, all you LRH Independents are my new friends.

I’m especially grateful to those Independents who blazed the trail for me so it became safe to go into the water.

And special thanks to Marty for putting the site here where we are free to communicate. (And blow tons of charge while doing so!)

So, Marty I believe I’ve earned my invitation to the party.

More Miscavige on Internet – Stopping Scientology

Some who have not experienced it may have trouble believing it, but I am sure those who have experienced it will confirm my interpretation of what follows.  Here’s an order from David Miscavige’s office to ED Int (Executive Director International) and Exec Ints (whatever members of ED Int’s team who had the misfortune of listening to the rant live).  The order is excerpted, as is Miscavige’s standard operating procedure, from an audio tape that records every insanity that issues from his mouth morning, noon and night while he stomps around the International headquarters of Scientology Inc.  ED Int and his Exec Ints then must report written compliance, with evidence, to the order so issued.   On average, ED Int  receives dozens of such orders on any given day – as do many others.  When Miscavige refers to the ED Int thinking  ‘And then it becomes, “oh, you’re stopping it”’ Miscavige – the perceptive one he is – is accurately reporting on exactly what ED INT and the Exec Ints were thinking at that very moment.  He knows that because it is a daily recurring thought of all members of Scientology Inc international management.  They think it because this order here represents Miscavige’s daily op.  He bats back violently at anything that is originated to him – including compliance to the insane orders he issues and even the programs that attempt to execute his dictates.

The net result is, everything he tells anyone to do never gets done because Miscavige won’t ever approve the program that is proposed to get done what he has ordered to get done.  It is a vicious cycle.  It is like the movie Groundhogs Day played over and over and over,  day in and day out, year after year at Miscavige’s cult camp.  Except his version of Groundhogs Day is not a comedy, it is the most gruesome horror picture imaginable.  Miscavige very often tells International staff members and execs “oh, and you are thinking COB is stopping this” (after he sits on a submission for several months, then verbally lambasts the submitter with some incomprehensible cross order of himself) I suppose in order to make the person feel guilty and wrong and ultimately  stupid for perceiving the truth. More accurately, the op Miscavige runs day in an day out is making people believe they are incapable of understanding that which is incomprehensible (his orders) in the first place.  L. Ron Hubbard described the op in the lecture The Freedoms  of Clear, 4 July, 1958:

“You know how people convince people they’re ignorant?  They take something which cannot be understood and they say, ‘You stupid jerk. Why don’t you understand this…’

“…Don’t ever make the mistake of believing that you are ignorant simply because you do not understand the incomprehensible.  Because that’s the oldest trick in the universe.”

RE: SH SIZE ORGS & 339R

And on Marketing, they keep coming up with a million other things, because the guy doesn’t understand it.  It’s, get the Internet done, goes out and talk to Sky Dayton, comes up with a bunch of ideas, “yeah, we’ll send it out to the org.  Hey, any dissemination is better than none.”  No it’s not.  How many more people am I willing to blow out of Scientology.  And by the way, put that aside, why didn’t he program it in and do any part of his job?  Tell the org staff, “Here’s how you answer.”  Get out a basic program on this?  Why not?  Why put it out without that?  Oh, I wanted to wait 3 years to get out his program and they’re just going to get a computer manual.  And then it becomes, “oh, you’re stopping it.”  No actually, I’m the one who’s been pounding to get it done and get a standard line in.  So what were we about to put out?  [CallInExecInt: A line that’s not complete.]  You don’t get it yet.  Your respect for org policy and what happens down there is not accurate or you would literally feel your stomach twisting right now. And to you, it’s glib.  You don’t really live and breathe this purpose and know what’s happening.  You should though.

Our things are supposed to forward it.  And the reason it doesn’t make sense, because you don’t know what the basic purpose is.  You go, “Hey, I know how to forward that great idea.  I know how to really get that book line in.”  What do I get from Marketing?  “Yeah, we’ve got an Internet there on Scientology on-line, we’ll have a way where they can log in and we can 8C them through the books.”  Now, I haven’t seen the 8C in one of those issues.  In fact, what I’m trying to do is get them to want them.  What did it turn into instead?  “8C them.”

The only place that thinks they need 8C is here.  I plan on getting people and saying, there it is and they go, “whoa, I want it.”  But nobody there would even push it and 8C them anyway.  You already know that.  That’s what’s so stupid.  Marketing—you’re supposed to create want.

Mothers’ Day

Some thoughts about mothers and potential mothers on Mothers’ Day.

Abraham Lincoln said:

“All that I am, or hope to be, I owe to my angel mother.”

Washington Irving wrote:

“A father may turn his back on his child, brothers and sisters may become inveterate enemies, husbands may desert their wives, wives their husbands.  But a mother’s love endures through all. ”

Mark Twain wrote:

“My mother had a slender, small body, but a large heart – a heart so large that everybody’s joys found welcome in it, and hospitable accommodation.”

Oprah Winfrey noted:

“Biology is the least of what makes someone a mother.”

Miriam Makeba noted:

“Girls are the future mothers of our society, and it is important that we focus on their well-being.”

L. Ron Hubbard wrote:

“The arts and skills of woman, the creation and inspiration of which she is capable and which, here and there in isolated places in our culture, she still manages to effect in spite of the ruin and decay of man’s world which spreads around her, must be brought newly and fully into life.  These arts and skills and creation and inspiration are her beauty, just as she is the beauty of Mankind.”

James Brown brought a similar line of thought to song:

Finally:

“God could not be everywhere, so he created mothers.”

Life After Death And The Scientology Axioms

L Ron Hubbard wrote the following in 1954:

The Axioms

Axiom One: Life is basically a static. (Definition: A life static has no mass, no motion, no wavelength, no location in space or in time.  It has the ability to postulate and to perceive.)

Definition: In Scientology, the word ‘postulate’ means to cause a thinkingness or consideration. It is a specially applied word and is defined as causative thinkingness.

Axiom Two: The static is capable of considerations, postulates and opinions.

Axiom Three: Space, energy, objects, form and time are the results of considerations made and/or agreed upon or not by the static, and are perceived solely because the static considers that it can perceive them.

Axiom Four: Space is a viewpoint of dimension. (Space is caused by looking out from a point. The only actuality of space is the agreed-upon consideration that one perceives through something and this we call space.)

Axiom Five: Energy consists of postulated particles in space. (One considers that energy exists and that he can perceive energy.  One also considers that energy behaves according to certain agreed-upon laws.  These assumptions and considerations are the totality of energy.)

Axiom Six:  Objects consist of grouped particles and solids.

Axiom Seven: Time is basically a postulate that space and particles will persist. (The rate of their persistence is what we measure with clocks and the motion of heavenly bodies.)

Axiom 8:  The apparency of time is the change of position of particles in space.

Axiom 9:  Change is the primary manifestation of time.

Axiom 10: The highest purpose in the universe is the creation of an effect.

Robert Lanza wrote the following in 2011:

Does the Soul Exist?  Evidence Says Yes

and

Is Death An Illusion?  Evidence Suggests Death Isn’t The End.

Both of these articles were published in Psychology Today.

Is it not a travesty that corporate Scientologists would be burned at the stake (figuratively) if they were to dare to even take a peek at such a magazine?  Is it not a travesty that Scientology Inc is busy using the billions you have donated to them to stage public demonstrations of their flat earth mentality while science catches up with L Ron Hubbard?

Thank God for independence in religion, science and other vehicles of truth-seeking.
