Reason or Force?

From PDC 10: Specific Parts of Self-determinism, Spacation by L Ron Hubbard:

People recognize that, and although you will see a tremendous tendency on the part of the slave to assume his chains and wear them, and wear more chains if possible, you always have a greater number who in the end will turn on the master.

The masters of the slaves die. They have always died in this universe and they always will, and so may too a universe die.

But the point we are making is simply that force was never any weapon with which to combat reason. And every time force has been applied to reason in this universe force as come the cropper, not reason.

Sooner or later the reason would go around and through because there’s on…force, you see, can’t go through sixteen-foot bastions and barricades. You have this enormous citadel sitting on the high crown of an untouchable mount. And it is garrisoned and provisioned and watered to withstand the siege of centuries. And its garrison is well-trained and well-armed. Not a signle shaft or a bolt or a lightening flash could go through that citadel.

But by the water carrier or some other means an idea can go through the wall of any citadel. When you ask, “what is the strength of this citadel?” you always have to ask “what is the loyalty of this garrison?” That is the other factor, and force was never able to win against it. It could win temporarily, oh, yes, but never completely. Now in a reaction against force, people quite often will assume a no responsibility for the whole universe. That’s going downscale against force.

Want to point out to you that there’s an up scale from force. A high one, and that goes up toward the reasonable thing to do. And people very often, who are trying to go up scale toward the reasonable thing to do, will find themselves caught with specious reasoning and will find themselves dropping down toward the weak thing to do.

Reason which is afraid of force, and reason which exists to keep force from hurting one is not reason. That, too, is a form of slavery. But reason which exists to go up from the level of force must first be able to confront force. Only then can such reason take responsibility for those things which reason alone can produce.

And so you find a society, just before it goes out, taking its last effort to escape force by being reasonable, but that reasonability consists normally of an assumption of slavery of one form or another – not an assumption of freedom. They will lay upon themselves various restrictions and…out of fear.

Now that man who is able to take responsibility for force, yet who does not employ force, is much more terrible than man who can apply force alone. And the man who applies force alone is, of course, much more terrible to a lower scale on the chart than those who can only cluster together in terror and hope that the mass of their numbers will restrain the hand of force.

You want to remember then you’re looking at harmonics, when you’re looking at this on a tone scale. You’ll find groups which cohese solely because they are terrified of force which may be applied to them. And in that cohesion they simply seek protection of the individual by the group.

That group almost never advances. Now that group which can be free in each and every individual matter is yet the only group that can act and reason and with cause. For a group to be cause it must consist of individuals who themselves are cause.

 What Is Greatness?

 by L. Ron Hubbard

The hardest task one can have is to continue to love one’s fellows despite all reasons he should not. And the true sign of sanity and greatness is to so continue.  For the one who can achieve this, there is abundant hope. For those who cannot, there is only sorrow, hatred and despair, and these are not the things of which greatness or sanity or happiness are made.
A primary trap is to succumb to invitations to hate. There are those who appoint one their executioners. Sometimes for the sake of the safety of others, it is necessary to act, but it is not necessary also to hate them.

To do one’s task without becoming furious at others who seek to prevent one is a mark of greatness—and sanity. And only then can one be happy. Seeking to achieve any single desirable quality in life is a noble thing. The one most difficult and most necessary to achieve is to love one’s fellows despite all invitations to do otherwise.

If there is any saintly quality, it is not to forgive. “Forgiveness” is a much lower level action and is rather censorious. True greatness merely refuses to change in the face of bad actions against one — and a truly great person loves his fellows because he understands them. After all, they are all in the same trap. Some are oblivious of it, some have gone mad because of it, some act like those who betrayed them. But all, all are in the same trap—the generals, the street sweepers, the presidents, the insane. They act the way they do because they are all subject to the same cruel pressures of this universe.

Some of us are subject to those pressures and still go on doing our jobs. Others have long since succumbed and rave and torture and strut like the demented souls they are. To re-save some of them is a dangerous undertaking. Were you to approach many ruling heads in the world and offer to set them free (as only a Scientologist can) they would go berserk, cry up their private police and generally cause unpleasantness. Indeed, one did—he was later assassinated by no desire of ours but because of the incompetence of his own fellows about him. He could have used Scientology. Instead, he promptly tried to shoot it down by ordering raids and various berserk actions on Scientology organizations. That he was then shot had nothing to do with us, but only demonstrated how incompetent and how mortal he really was.

As we become stronger, we can be completely openhanded with our help. Until we do, we can at least understand the one fact that greatness does not stem from savage wars or being known. It stems from being true to one’s own decency, from going on helping others whatever they do or think or say and despite all savage acts against one; to persevere without changing one’s basic attitude toward Man.  A fully trained Scientologist is in a far better position to understand than a partly trained one. For the Scientologist who really knows is able not only to retain confidence in himself and what he can do, but also can understand why others do what they do and so knowing, does not become baffled or dismayed by small defeats. To that degree, true greatness depends on total wisdom. They act as they do because they are what they are—trapped beings, crushed beneath an intolerable burden. And if they have gone mad for it and command the devastation of whole nations in errors of explanation, still one can understand why and can understand as well the extent of their madness. Why should one change and begin to hate just because others have lost themselves and their own destinies are too cruel for them to face.
Justice, mercy, forgiveness, all are unimportant beside the ability not to change because of provocation or demands to do so.
One must act, one must preserve order and decency, but one need not hate or seek vengeance. It is true that beings are frail and commit wrongs. Man is basically good but can act badly. He only acts badly when his acts done for order and the safety of others are done with hatred. Or when his disciplines are founded only upon safety for himself regardless of all others; or worse, when he acts only out of a taste for cruelty. To preserve no order at all is an insane act. One need only look at the possessions and environment of the insane to realize this. The able keep good order.
When cruelty in the name of discipline dominates a race, that race has been taught to hate. And that race is doomed.
The real lesson is to learn to love. He who would walk scatheless through his days must learn this. Never use what is done to one as a basis for hatred. Never desire revenge.
It requires real strength to love Man. And to love him despite all invitations to do otherwise, all provocations and all reasons why one should not.
Happiness and strength endure only in the absence of hate.
To hate alone is the road to disaster. To love is the road to strength.
To love in spite of all is the secret of greatness.
And may very well be the greatest secret in this universe.

The Second Dynamic

A very serious alteration in DM’s 2007 GOK book re-writes has come to my attention. I suppose the subject matter should come as no surprise. I worked very closely with the compilers of the 1998 edition of Introduction to Scientology Ethics. In that edition the definition of the Second Dynamic was as on-Source as could be. It read as follows:

“The SECOND DYNAMIC is CREATIVITY. Creativity is making things for the future and the second dynamic includes any creativity. The second dynamic contains the family unit and the rearing of children as well as anything that can be categorized as family activity. It also incidentally includes sex as a mechanism to compel future survival.”

Ironically, there has been some chatter in the field for years protesting that this very definition was an off-Source alteration.

In fact, that definition was the final word on the subject of the second dynamic by L Ron Hubbard. It was clearly stated in his writings concerning World Out of Comm (WOOC) Eval from which the Key To Life and Life Orientation Course were compiled.

It also happens to be consistent with LRH’s entire body of work. One can go back as far as Science of Survival to see that the second dynamic entails a higher form of creativity than merely sex. For instance, “At the highest MEST point of the Tone Scale, 4.0, one finds monogomy, constancy, a high enjoyment level and very moral reactions toward sex; but one also finds the sexual urge acting to create more than children, and so comes about a sublimation of sex into creative thought.”

I have had a good measure of success in helping couples improve their long term relationships by educating them on the fact  that there is something more purposeful and constructive to the Second Dynamic than merely the biological impulse to forward the species.

In fact, I was working with a person on the subject of Ethics when I discovered the fact DM had in effect cancelled CREATIVITY from the Second Dynamic. Here is his brave new definition in the 2007 GOK Introduction to Scientology Ethics book:

“The Second Dynamic is the urge toward existence as a sexual activity. This dynamic actually has two divisions. Second Dynamic (a) is the sexual act itself. And the Second Dynamic (b) is the family unit, including the rearing of children. This can be called the sex dynamic.”

For those who agree with DM and insist that the Second Dynamic is exclusively concerned with sex, it is entirely your right to abide by your chosen understanding. However, I invite you to do as Ron suggests and test what you learn for workability. Examine your dynamics and their interaction using both definitions. See for yourself which works best to align them toward your long-term goals and purposes. See which one forwards the survival and well-being of the greatest number of your dynamics.

Incidentally, before posting this I confirmed my suspicions, and recollections, with a number of people intimately involved with LRH tech compilations, including the compilation of the 1998 Ethics book, Key To Life, and Life Orientation Course.

Anchor Points

We’ve made a tremendous amount of progress in phase one of the game; that  is, de-ptsing ourselves from the dictator and his counter policies. I have sometimes made reference to DM’s GPM (goals-problems-mass), and advised we not get suckered into becoming part of it. There is a St Hill Special Briefing Course lecture (Attacks and GPMs) that I think supports this idea and is very applicable to the current scene.  Here is an excerpt that sums up some mechanics that you might find relevant to your current environment. You might  find it liberating or de-oppressing on one level or another.

From: Attacks and GPMs, 21 Oct 1963:

Now, the whole of life is an interchange if you’re going to live. It’s an interchange — an interchange activity. It’s putting out anchor points. And let’s look at the gradient scale of how you would go about this. Supposing you’re just there all by yourself. And there’s no limitation to your putting out anchor points, right? And you can put out anchor points. There’s no limitation to this. You can put out as many anchor points as you like, you see?

Somebody else shows up and they say, “You shouldn’t put out these anchor points,” or “I want to make some of this — I want to have some of this space too.” And they put out anchor points against your anchor points, so you don’t put out anchor points quite so far, you see? — talking about the Factors, now.

All right, and let’s supposing that every time you put out an anchor point, why, somebody else forbade you to put out the anchor point, and you complied and agreed and didn’t put out your anchor point. How big do you think you would be after a while? That’s about how big you are now.

See, that’s practically the way you got there — the way you got there. There’s nothing quite as disturbing and there’s nothing quite so certain to throw anybody into apathy, is just continue to put out your anchor points. It’s the most disturbing activity that you can engage on. Everybody says, “You mustn’t put out your anchor points,” and you put out your anchor points. Then they give you lots of reasons why you shouldn’t put out your anchor points and you put out anchor points. They bring all sorts of duress to bear on you why you shouldn’t put out your anchor points and you put out anchor points. What’s going to happen to their morale? See?

Now, sometimes it’s very difficult to continue to put out anchor points in this particular way; sometimes you just get cut to ribbons. And it’s those particular times that you got cut to ribbons you tend to remember as lessons not to attack, or lessons not to put out anchor points.

Now, the gradient scale on the thing goes, put out anchor points — in other words, continue to create your space — to attacking that which is preventing you from putting out your space. Now, that’s also putting out anchor points, don’t you see? And you get down along low human levels, and what are you then involved with? You’re involved with attacking those who are preventing you from putting out anchor points. Attacking them.

Now, you go down scale just a little bit further. You start defending yourself against attacks. This causes you to live good, to have good behavior, to have various socially acceptable characteristics — all sorts of things. These things are basically defenses against attacks, direct attacks. Now you can go down scale even further than that: You have the defenses against possible attacks. And this causes people to live in castles and you know, dig moats that nobody will ever think of ever charging against, you see? Invent weapons that have no particular use; invent social characteristics that are impossible to attack.

This causes you, in other words, to go down scale a bit further. Now, there’s further down scale than that: is imagining you are under attack. That you are defending, answers itself out — answers itself out in this wise.

That you are defending yourself — you understand, this is the — now let me point back to you the level of the scale just above this — possible attacks, see? Level — you know, possible attacks. You’re not being attacked, you’re simply preparing yourself to defend possible attacks. See, now just below that there is a point that because there are all these defenses, there therefore must be attacks. You see, it proves itself. Well, you got a moat dug all the way around the place! Obviously, there must be somebody going to ride across that moat.

Some of the screens that a thetan puts up are terribly entrancing. These screens are very, very entrancing, because they leave them up forever. Why did they put them up in the first place? Well, they put them up against a lion. All right, the lion might still be there. See, you would have to take the screen down to find out. You don’t dare take the screen down because you’d be attacked if the lion were still there.

This causes a very funny action. You can get a thetan, you know, a pc, and get him to find one of these black screens and get him to pick up one little corner of it and peek around it real fast and it reads — sometimes he’ll really have to get his nerve up to do it. And he will. He’ll see something like a mocked up lion or a snake or something on the other side of the black screen.

See, one of his answers of confronting is cover it up so he can’t — won’t have to confront it, you see, black it out. There is the final — final mechanism of a defense. Permanent defenses lead to a belief that one is under attack. When you get way down scale, you — it’s — must be that you’re under attack because there’s the defenses. Somebody must be ready to launch the rockets at you any moment because, heh! Here are all these radars waiting to detect them. And of course, the more one defends the less one becomes mobile — one is less and less mobile. So therefore, actually, he never gets out to look.

He never goes out to look, to see if there are any attackers. And I imagine there are nations on planets someplace in this galaxy, at this very moment, who have no neighbors but who believe implicitly that those neighbors are there with full armies ready to attack them; and that live a life of complete defense, complete immobility, never going abroad, carrying through all of the various survival activities, to them, to prevent an attack against nations which are no longer there, that have long since gone to dust.

A GPM, in essence, is such a mechanism. One has a defense up against an area of confusion. He has a stable datum all arranged to take care of an area of confusion that has long since ceased to exist. Thetan eventually traps himself.

The GPMs then are a long history of all of the things which ever attacked him, and those things might now be gone.

Now, consider the flip side. I was out at the Int base a couple weeks ago. The most noticeable change since my residing there was this: about fifty feet inside the electronic, razor wired security perimeter fence, DM had built a ten to fifteen foot fortess-looking wall around his villas compound. That is where his living quarters and VIP guest quarters are now located. A fortress within a fortress. Interesting.

I suggest our best direction is to just keep putting anchor points out.

Abuse At The Top – Amy Scobee’s new book

Over the past year Amy Scobee has contributed a lot to exhausting the 3rd dynamic engram we have all lived. She has provided very accurate accounts (with time, place, form and event) that have helped a lot of people to better understand and evaluate their involvement in a group gone seriously awry. Amy has now completed her memoir which provides context and detail of her own narrative.

You can check out more about the book and order it at http://www.scobeepublishing.com/

“The route from death or apathy or inaction is to know something about it, take some responsibility for the state one is in and the scene and control oneself to a point where some control is put into the scene to make it go right. Then know why it went wrong, take responsibility for it and control it enough to make it go more toward an ideal scene.”  – L. Ron Hubbard – Symbols of Dianetics and Scientology

NBC Today show – Christie King Collbran

Tune into NBC Today show this morning (7 or 7:30) your time to watch the Mat Lauer interview with Chrsitie King Collbran. http://today.msnbc.msn.com/id/26184891/vp/35775749#35775749

Ordinary People Are Extraordinary

Hi Marty,

I just wanted to let you know I’ve sent personalized versions my “opt-out” notice, below, to the Scientologists I’m currently in touch with and to the Mission and Orgs that consider me a part of their field.  I’m also sending a copy to the MAA at KSW.com, in case there’s a count being kept.

I don’t have any expectations or grand delusions about this having any effect, other than for my own health and well being.  Up until recently I was of the mindset that any kind of a public announcement from me, regarding leaving the Church of Scientology, would be of so little consequence that it wasn’t worth doing.  Why risk creating any ill effects when no positive effects could come from it – such a tiny pebble tossed in the water that any ripples created wouldn’t even be seen, let alone felt.

See, I was just a member, just a parishioner.  Not a celebrity nor a big status donor.  Not a business owner, nor influential in any large circles of Scientologists, either public or staff, or non-Scn VIPs.  Haven’t witnessed any crimes or illegal malfeasance the CoS leadership would want me silenced about.  Not a creative writer, nor public speaker, who might be sought out by media.  Apparently, I am not in a position to be of any significance to the CoS.  Just a parishioner.  No threat = No value to CoS.

There’s also no reason for anyone in the church to come try to keep me because I don’t command a big income, commissions, bonuses.  I haven’t received any inheritances nor been given any large monetary gifts that I’m “withholding”.  I’m in the latter part of my “income earning years”, and what $$ of any size I did have, I’ve already donated to the IAS, the local Ideal Org campaign, and paid for auditing or the purchase of shiny new replacements of books and lectures. I’m the “common-man” work-a-day gal.  As an ex-Sea Org member I’m not eligible to join staff and I don’t live close enough to the local Org to be a prime volunteer candidate.  Church loses nothing, based on its current values.  No potential big bucks or cheap labor = No value to CoS.

I’m fortunate not to have any family left in the CoS and nobody where I work gives three figs about Scientology, one way or the other.  Although, I’m sure there will be some Scientologist friends and acquaintances that will choose to keep my “enturbulation” off their lines by disconnecting, the whole reason for sending this notice out is to get the BS behemoth’s enturbulation off my lines.  I’m disconnecting from them.  What a HOOT!  Quit calling, quit emailing, quit sending print mailers in epic proportions, and quit coming to my door.

I step away with my values intact and I keep my eternity.  Life is Good.

Thanks to you and the other bloggers, commentators, ex’s, non’s, and anon’s – it’s quite the little intervention and rehab gig you’ve got going!

 Marta L. Willson

OPT OUT COMMUNICATION:

I’m sending you this email, not with the intent to create upset, but out of respect for our past relationship.  I don’t want you to be blind-sided hearing it from someone else.  And so that you can take whatever action you think is needed as a result of the information.  I’m writing to let you know firsthand that I am leaving the Church of Scientology.  I have been a Scientologist since 1969, completed through grade VA on public lines, and solo-audited to Clear and OT as a Sea Org member and executive – prior to 1980.  I have had personal gains in Scientology that words just can’t do justice.  But, it is my experiences and observations over the past eight years that bring me to this decision.

I’ve always been a steadfast supporter of LRH and the Scientology philosophy, so I didn’t arrive at the decision quickly or easily.  Yes, there are an abundance of reasons for my decision, but I won’t go into them here.  Suffice to say, that my personal values and (in my opinion) the fundamentals of the Scientology philosophy, do not align with the current operations and practices of the Church as it is currently organized and managed.  What I see is that the Church is producing far more BS and self-promotion than any other product or service, and is leaving as a by-product a wake of toxic bad news and ill repute the half-life of which is anybody’s guess.

Until there is significant reform in the Church’s organizational structure, management style, and operational practices – I’m opting out.

Respectfully,

Marta L Willson

To Marta and the rest of the extraordinary ordinary people among us:

Neglected heros – Staff of Scientology Orgs

By Mike Rinder

One of the tragedies of the reign of Miscavige is the utter disregard for staff well-being.

There have been LRH orders extant since the late 70’s to resolve staff pay.  He identified it as a major reason for orgs not expanding and later as a key block to accomplishing the objective of LRH ED 339R – Saint Hill Size Orgs.

If you cannot afford to live as a staff member, you either moonlight or leave staff. Many dedicated individuals have joined staff thinking that they would be able to contribute to expanding the org and as a result, make a viable living through staff.  But the problem is the finance system that orgs are forced to operate on leaves so little for staff pay that even when the org grows, the percentage of income devoted to staff pay is so small, and so much comes “off the top” that the increase in the number of staff needed to deliver what is required to sustain increased income simply divides the staff pay sum by more people. There is a fault in the SYSTEM. It’s well known.

Why didn’t this ever change if LRH said it should?  Back in the early 80’s there was a project called “The Staff Pay Project”.  It was not completed before LRH went off the lines. And from that time forward, Miscavige has had literally hundreds of submissions on staff pay, none of which he would approve. There are probably hundreds of pages of transcripts of rambling meetings Miscavige had with International Management and Finance personnel (back in the “good old days” when they were nominally on post) where he pontificated at length about what should be done. Problem is (as others have described) the “direction” that he gave was invariably confusing and often times contradictory. And then any submission to him would be rejected because it didn’t “comply” with some line in a 50 page transcript of his ramblings.  Tens of thousands of hours of executive time have been spent M9ing the endless transcripts from DM, then putting together submissions to him attempting to satisfy all his dictates (literally an impossible task as one day he would say one thing and then the next it would be the opposite). So, why isn’t there a workable staff pay system? Because to this day Miscavige refuses to put one out. (In case someone out there saw a Staff Pay system in 2004 that was “done personally by COB” that he PR’d as being a solution to staff pay, I ask you – did it work?

THE CANCER OF THE IAS

There is a second problem with staff pay:  the takeover and dominance of Scientology by the IAS and the proliferation of building and library donations. Funds channeled into these endless sinkholes do not go on the regular org GI and Financial Planning lines. So, funds that could be being donated for services (which are part of the org GI and FP) are being siphoned off.  Miscavige doesn’t want to interrupt these Condition 0 Exchange activities (after all, all you need to “deliver” for a hundred thousand donated to the IAS is a pin, a trophy and some imbecilic title). You can’t increase staff pay or build orgs while still having the IAS as the “senior organization” in Scientology. Hence, Miscavige’s decision was easy, if shortsighted: pour the coals on the IAS and org staff be damned.

Just as an aside on the IAS – it is a Third Dynamic engram by definition. It was an arbitrary implemented at one time to solve the problem of creating an untouchable pool of money out of the reach of the IRS that could be used to pay off the IRS if they did not grant the Church tax exempt status. After 1993, it had served its purpose and should have been disbanded and the public should have been informed that it was no longer needed.  But, by that time it was a cash cow for Miscavige that was too good to discard, no matter the havoc it would wreak on organizations.

If you have read the LRH article “What Your Fees Buy” you will be familiar with the fact that LRH intended the fees for SERVICES to not only support the local organization, but to fund the defense of the religion, to finance projects to bring LRH tech into different sectors of society and to promote Dianetics and Scientology.  Following are quotes from “What Your Fees Buy”:

It costs money to bring cases up to the US Supreme Court level as we have. The legal defense expenses we have in a dozen countries is not small.

So a portion of your fee goes to keeping the subject available to you and to the world.

Your fee supports a long and complex set of communication lines by which tech and admin can be cared for rapidly.

A portion of your fee just the other day began a survey of a backward country to introduce high speed educational processes to bring their people quickly from the Stone Age up to present time. The “Peace Corps” was also there on cushy government funds building houses for a big construction company at a nice profit. But we, unsupported, began the effective work actually needed there to help the people.

A tiny bit of your fee neated up an area ruined for the Americans by the American Navy.

Small parts of your fee heal up a lot of things over the world.

But the biggest part of your fee stays right in your area. It is used to make training and processing and data available to the next fellow first by keeping the org there and second by letting him know about it and third by making as sure as possible that the training and processing he gets is standard and effective.

Your fee keeps the nearest org alive and functioning and the environment safe.

Anyone who has ever been approached by an IAS reg will find a lot of this eerily familiar.  This is exactly what those IAS regges say the money is being spent on.  So, one may ask, if this is what the money is being spent on WHY HAVENT THE COST OF SERVICES BEEN REDUCED? And as a side note – IAS funds are ONLY spent when Miscavige wants them spent. Those massive “campaigns” that are announced at the IAS events have a few bucks thrown at them to show at the event, and then they die, and just to dispel another lie that has been repeated forever, the IAS had NOTHING to do with “The Battle of Portland,” NO IAS funds were ever used for legal, PR or Crusade activities.

Instead of pouring the coals on LRH’s purpose and LRH ED 339R by having the correct single finance channel (through orgs) and making it possible for our staffs to live by implementing the appropriate staff pay system, Miscavige diverted and channeled those funds to the IAS, his off-source ideal org strategy or his latest and “greatest” scheme leaving staff destitute and orgs bereft of the energy they so vitally needed.

THE FINAL NAIL IN THE COFFIN OF STAFF

But there was something beyond even that.  LRH ED 339R was written FOR STAFF.  It gave them the Birthday Game and the target of building their org to the Size of Old St Hill. And something else in 339R was even MORE IMPORTANT.

LRH knew that an average staff member could not attain OT.   Even if they received enough staff pay to be able to live, they still would not have enough disposable income to pay for OT levels.  And many could not afford to go off to LA or Copenhagen or St Hill for months to do their OT levels – their posts would suffer.  He had a brilliant solution – the UNIVERSE CORPS. It made it possible for staff to be real Scientologists and achieve the gains of the OT Levels. LRH ED 339R says that EVERY org that reaches the size of Old St Hill would be rewarded with a Universe Corps sent from Management that would move all staff in the org up to Clear and through the OT Levels. It wasn’t something available to public, it was a reward for the dedication of being a staff member. Right in their own org they would be able to do the OT Levels. This was a massive change. Never before had OT levels been available outside AOs.

But, there was a problem. This required training staff and sending them out to the orgs.

And of those orgs back in the day that were awarded St Hill Size – Tokyo, Orange County, LA Org, Tampa, Hamburg, Munich, Joburg etc. – how many of them do you think have a Universe Corps today? When they were sent (some orgs back then actually had a Universe Corps) they were soon ripped off. Tampa were told that their “Universe Corps” was the FSO!

And today? LRH ED 339R is forgotten. Replaced by Miscavige’s Idle Org strategy. Perfect. Idle Orgs don’t require stats. And certainly don’t require a Universe Corps. They don’t require a Management to recruit and train a Universe Corps.  Idle Orgs – Miscavige’s brilliant solution that buries 339R (and the staff along with it) under a pile of PR bullshit. LRH ED 339R is a distant memory, along with the concept that an org is a friendly place where people can find help and like-minded individuals, not just a gathering place for vulture regges waiting to pounce on anyone who walks in the door.

Where has the compassion for people that is the very hallmark of LRH and his technology gone? It’s sure hard to find in the Church of Mestology.

The healing game

Regular commenter Virgil Samms submitted the following wise observations in italics below. My additional observations and opinions follow in regular text:

From: Science of Survival, Pg 338.

“There are, one could say, four distinct sources of aberration. The first is occasioned by phrases in engrams which specifically dictate certain obsessions, compulsions, repressions, delusions, neurosis, and psychoses. Such phrases, however, have command value on the analyzer, which does not know they exist below it in the reactive mind, only to the degree that the case is charged with entheta. …

“Therefore, there is a second type of aberration source which is simply the amount of charge there is on the case. This might be called mechanical aberration. It does not stem from specific commands but stems from mental inefficiency by reason of cumulative entheta….

“The third kind of aberration is environmental and is the result of aberrated persons and situations in the individual’s present time environment. This is normally temporary, but cumulative environmental entheta has a chronic effect in the case. …

“The fourth type of aberration is educational, being the cumulative entheta of the culture in which the preclear was raised, the irrationality and bad data he has received as a result of his education – by parents, in schools and by experience.” – L Ron Hubbard

The first type is, of course, handled by auditing out the engrams.

The second type is handled with destimulation, auditing, assists, word clearing and so forth.

But paying attention to the third and fourth kinds of aberration explains being in the Sea Org from the 80’s forward. The amount of entheta was unbearable but I also found myself dramatizing the aberrations that now seem to all stem from DM. I want to point out to the people who post on your blog that there is a good chance of there being cumulative amounts of this type of entheta on their case. This is handled by looking at the truth in what was and is there in the Sea Org.

We all know that we found what we had been looking for to solve our own questions as to our unique existence on this planet and what was happening on this planet. Ron explained ARC=U to us and we were suddenly Understanding that our heretofore behavior was wrong and needed to change. We found TRs and learned how to communicate properly to another being. Then we practiced ARC with our TRs and life was sweet because we were treating others with respect and dignity and received the same in kind.

Then we got onto staff in order to salvage this planet and we ran into heaping amounts of entheta. The dichotomy was this: The closer we got to the top of the org board the crazier life became until we found ourselves doubting whether we were suppressive or not.

But look at what LRH intended for us to be like and then what you envisioned yourself to be like. Then throw away what you were socially and educationally taught in the Sea Org. Sure we all learned to be tough and how to get products and all of that, but there is a way to be tough and in ARC. Read HCO PL Ethics Presence and look at what he is saying there. He is talking about ARC! DM was NEVER in ARC. He might have acted like it but I know I never got a warm fuzzy feeling around the man.

Understand, there are the 3rd and 4th types of aberrations as per the above and understand that we have gotten a lot of aberration from the Sea Org and from being on staff or just plain being a public at FSO going OT.

Virgil has made some powerful and truthful observations in my estimation. I think you can add to the resolution of all of those types of aberration the three valid therapies. Those are change of environment, exercise-nutrition-health, and education. Don’t ever forget the powers of those. You don’t need a formal auditor, you don’t need a formal org, you don’t need a formal anything to get inestimable gain from the application of the three valid therapies.

Virgil cites from Science of Survival. I highly recommend reading, or re-reading, that text as fullfillment of the education step, or as a therapy in and of itself. If one fully grasps the theta-mest theory set forth in SOS, one can very neatly consolidate one’s gains attained through the 3D engram running we are all engaged upon, the three valid therapies, and whatever other therapy – formal or informal – each of us may engage in. The more enturbulated theta one frees – BY WHATEVER MEANS – the more free theta one enjoys and commands, and thus the more entheta one can disenturbulate. Of course, that process continually increases one’s store of free theta. It begins to work like an ascending spiral – sort of like the dwindling spiral in reverse.

Thanks Virg.
