Daniel Montalvo Cases Are Settled

references: Daniel Montalvo vs. Church of Scientology, et al, and Free Daniel Montalvo

Daniel Montalvo recently settled his lawsuits with Corporate Scientology entities.  The terms of the settlement were not particularly favorable to Daniel, but the settlement provides him: a)  protection from future liability for having taken computer hard drives with him when he left Corporate Scientology, and b) a little something to make his transition into outside life a bit easier.

When I originally posted about the lawsuits in early March 2011, I posted the following comment in response to a number of comments speculating how the suits would accomplish sweeping effects:

I have noted a number of comments speculating on strategies and potential outcomes. I think people should know that this case is Daniel Montalvo’s. His lawyer is a consumate, ethical professional. He is representing Daniel and ONLY Daniel. I am confident that he will do everything in his power to make his client whole ensuring he has the best chance possible for living a productive, fullfilling life. That is his obligation, no other. Whatever path this case takes the fact of it being brought, and hopefully the fact of it resulting in a wrong being justly remedied, will serve as benefit to the public at large and others similarly situated. Anything beyond that is of no concern to me. I would hope others will grant Daniel and his counsel that space and power of choice.

Daniel and his counsel did not consult with me about the settlement before entering into it as was their privilege.  They both felt that under the circumstances, and given the opponent they were facing, they did the right thing for Daniel at that juncture of the litigation.  What they ran into was precisely what Mike Rinder and I informed them they would prior to filing suit; something I don’t think either of them fully appreciated at that time. Nonetheless, having learned the circumstances after the fact, I believe Daniel was well served by his counsel Kit Winter.  Given the hand he was dealt Kit pulled off a minor miracle.

To those who donated to get Daniel out of jail and the charges against him dropped, your intention was fully accomplished.  Corporate Scientology officially dropped charges against Daniel.  To all of you, thank you very much, and very well done.

While Corporate Scientology expressly reserved the right to continue to come after me for something Daniel testified truthfully under oath that I had nothing to do with, you probably already know my response to that: “make my day.”

While Daniel handled his suit as I noted he should in the italicized passage above, he and Kit provided a great service to all of us. They kept the Corporate Scientology legal battalions pinned down for several months; obsessed with staving off Kit and Daniel’s advance made many other advances across the world possible.

Thanks to everybody who contributed, not just money but their time, their homes, their food, their vehicles, themselves.  You truly are appreciated.

Corporate Scientology Targets South Park

Stone and Parker - Targets of Corporate Scientology

The following internal Corporate Scientology memorandum is being published as part of a series that exposes the standard operating pattern and methodologies of the Office of Special Affairs (OSA – the harassment and terror network of Corporate Scientology).   Hubbard once noted the truism that that which one knows the technology of he cannot be the adverse effect of.  So it behooves those who have decided to expose and reform the beast to know a little about the tactics it employs to combat such efforts.

To this day OSA operates mainly on Cold War era intelligence and propaganda techniques much like those of the CIA, the FBI, the KGB, and STASI of the fifties and sixties.   Their main activity entails stifling criticism by an escalating gradient of techniques beginning with quiet investigation and moving up to infiltration, identification of and use of influential friends and contacts of the target, loud investigation, threats, attempts to harm the target financially, intense propaganda to discredit and ultimately, if all else fails, utter destruction of the target through overt harassment.  While in this age of information many OSA operations result in epic failures, the well-heeled – if desperate – cult continues to muzzle many a would-be reformer and news agency.

In ’06 the creators of South Park, Trey Parker and Matt Stone, became targets of Corporate Scientology’s OSA. Operations were run in an attempt to silence Parker and Stone.  While Corporate Scientology was ultimately unsuccessful, left behind an instructive data trail during their efforts.

16 April 2006 Report by Commanding Officer Office of Special Affairs (Corporate Scientology harassment agency, also known as OSA)(Parenthetical notations added)

Re: South Park

Eric Sherman (then-corporate Scientologist writer), who is good friends with Lloyd Kaufman (independent film maker), contacted him about South Park. Kaufman knows Trey Parker and Matt Stone and has been friends with them for years. As regards their attack on Scientology, Kaufman felt that this is the same thing they do to everyone. He said that they consider that what they do is satire and that they attack anyone or any group without any regard for who they are or what they are. They love it when they get some reaction. This week they created a new flap when they were going to show a picture of the prophet Mohammed but were censored from doing so by Comedy Central. (This  was covered in the press – Comedy Central was criticized for being hypocritical, i.e., they allowed South Park to show Jesus defecating on an American flag and George Bush, but not to show an image of Mohammed. This upset Christians in particular the Catholic League.)

To find a direct line into Stone and Parker some of their friends have been identified. One is Matthew Prager, who has been a friend since 1991. He worked with them as a writer on a show called, “That’s My Bush” which Parker and Stone created. Prager said he worked in executive positions at Disney, MTV and finally, at HBO, before shedding his tie for blue jeans at “That’s My Bush.”

Another is John Stamos who is best friends with Matt Stone. Apparently               his ex-wife, Rebecca Romijn, is also good friends with Stone. Rebecca is a former supermodel and currently has her own TV show.  In 2000’s X-Men, she had her first major movie role as Mystique and returned to the role in the 2003 sequel.

David Goodman is another friend of Parker and Stone. He was in college with them and has co-written some of the South Park episodes with them.

These connections are being PRC’d.  (PRC = Public Records Check –an intense collection of every public record available on the target)

There are some strings that will be pulled on the PRC on Stone. Otherwise the special collections (covert information gathering such as trash collection, purchased phone records, hacked airline reservations, purchased bank records) will be debugged in order to get some viable strings that can be pulled.

It is clear that this investigation is not going anywhere and DCOE (D/Commanding Officer External OSA) is getting it debugged.

Settin’ the Record Straight

Rachel Denk is a productive member of the independent community, having contributed finances, meters, books, lectures on CD, lectures on cassette tape, an LRH framed photo, friendship and advice, and lots of data. She comments on this blog as Hallelujah and TheWidowDenk. It is her sincere hope that – through her contributions – others are made aware of the gross misapplication of Source by Miscavige and his minions, and find the initiative and wherewithal to do something about it.  She has shared with me the facts surrounding the church’s treatment of legendary Scientologist, L Ron Hubbard’s personal doctor, and her husband Dr Gene Denk.

Dr. Denk was head of the Shaw Health Center. His many years of service to Hubbard, Sea Org and staff members, and public Scientologists created a large, loyal patient base. Chiropractor Stephen D. Price was Dr Gene Denk’s partner and, supposedly, his friend.

After Hubbard died and Miscavige anointed himself king, Stephen Price apparently began to value another “friend” more highly than Dr. Denk. Stephen became a personal pet of Miscavige, visiting him every weekend at the Int base since the eighties to the present.  Stephen gave Miscavige chiropractic services and special, lengthy massages.  He also regularly went out to play golf and go to the movies with Miscavige, and when at the Freewinds they would go scuba diving and to lavish dinners with one another.  Miscavige had Price hang around the base all weekend long (almost every weekend, and many times extending into the work week) for years waiting for whenever Miscavige needed or wanted Stephen’s magic fingers or a recreation break from his fellow Sea Org members whom he considered to a one to be riff raff.  For the last two decades Price has regularly accompanied Miscavige on his trips around the world, along with Miscavige’s entourage of hairdresser, stewards, and chefs.  Whenever Price happened to mention a personal problem with any org, Miscavige would be on it like white on rice, as if Tom Cruise himself had squealed like a stuck pig.

Price, no doubt, received an earful from Miscavige about Dr Denk.  Miscavige nattered heavily about Dr Denk.  Seems Dr Denk missed all manner of withholds while serving L Ron Hubbard in his final years of life, while Miscavige was calculatingly positioning himself to use Hubbard’s name and fame to rocket himself into a position of unquestioned power and wealth.

Dr Denk passed away on November 5, 2004 after a 10 month painful bout with cancer. Less than a month before his death, Stephen Price caused a “To Whom It May Concern” letter about Dr Denk and his wife to be delivered to the Denk household where home care was nearing the end-of-life stage. Rachel intercepted the letter before it reached Dr Denk’s eyes as it certainly wasn’t going to assist his spiritual or physical care.

SHAW MANAGEMENT CORPORATION

5336 Fountain Ave. Los Angeles CA. 90029

10/10/2004

To Whom It May Concern:

Shaw Management Corp., DBA Shaw Health Center, (SMC) is a corporation for the purpose of managing the administrative aspects of health care services to the general public. Gene Denk and Stephen Price are 50/50 share holders in the corporation.

SMC was located and operated out of the property 5336-38 Fountain Ave. Gene Denk and Stephen Price, as individuals, own the property at 5336-38 Fountain Ave. SMC leased the property from Gene Denk and Stephen Price.

The structure of SMC was that all gross earnings of Stephen D. Price and Gene Denk, as well as the independent contractor health care providers were to be paid to SMC. From those Gross earning, ½ were to be used to pay overhead, equipment, administrative and other financial obligations of SMC. The other half of the gross earning was distributed back to the health care providers, including Stephen Price and Gene Denk.

Gene was absent from SMC for two years (1984-86). During this time he made no contributions to SMC, notwithstanding he was earning money as a health care provider elsewhere. During this time Gene did not contribute any income to SMC. Consequently, Gene contributed nothing toward the overhead, equipment, administrative and other financial obligations of SMC.

While Gene was gone, and contributing nothing to SMC, Stephen continued his practice full time contributing his gross income to SMC. Out of that Gross income (approximately $500,000.00) SMC kept approximately $250,000.00 of that gross income to pay overhead, equipment, administrative and other financial obligations of SMC.

Between Gene and Stephen, Stephen was the sole income contributor to SMC. For 2 years Stephen was solely responsible for the administration of SMC with no help from Gene, reasonably valued at $500.00 per week for 104 weeks = $52,000.00.

Stephen has reason to believe that Gene received over $350,000 for his work elsewhere. (This is only an estimate, as all the exact data has been withheld from Stephen throughout the cycle.) All of Stephen’s and SMC financial data was passed to Gene through Rachel throughout the cycle. When Gene returned he used the money he made elsewhere, that should have passed through the corp., to loan to the corp.

In 1986 when Gene returned to his practice at SMC he loaned $100,000.00, to SMC. The check did not come from Gene, it was written by a church related organization to SMC. This caused Shaw to pay taxes on it as income and allowed Gene to avoid paying personal income tax on it. Accordingly Gene got a personal tax benefit at the expense of SMC.

To bring all things equal Stephen will need all his contributions of ½ his Gross income back from the corp. and his full pay for administrative work. Plus ½ of the total taxes paid on the $100,000.00 and Gene would get his full 61,000.00 from the loan.

The Truth of the matter is:

All debts and financial obligations undertaken by SMC are the sole responsibility of SMC and must be paid solely from SMC assets, if any. The Property at 5336-8 Fountain Ave. is not an asset of SMC.

The SMC corp. is no longer in business and is unable to:

  1. Pay Stephen for the administrative duties performed
  2. Return the $250,000 of Stephen’s own money contributed for 2 years.
  3. Refund the taxes paid for the 100,000.00
  4. Pay Gene back the balance of the loan to SMC.

SMC went out of business when Gene decided to form Optimum Wellness Medical Group and separate out chiropractic, massage and vitamins from Medical. Gene’s decision ended any chance we would have of collecting any monies from SMC.

Sincerely

Stephen D. Price

Secretary, Shaw Management Corp.

Twenty years after the fact, twenty years in which Stephen Price spent perhaps more time away from the office servicing David Miscavige than at the office, Stephen Price hounded Dr Denk on his death bed regarding money.   His basis of claim is that Dr Denk allegedly did not share his earnings from his service to L Ron Hubbard during the last 1 ½ years of his life.  1 ½  years in which Dr Denk had to leave his family, spend months at a time holed up in remote hotel rooms at the direction of Miscavige to be “on call”, cross state lines and start all over on a moment’s notice, and always be there to assist when Hubbard called on him.

Here is the punch line.  Rachel Denk, who helped handle Dr Denk’s finances and coordinated filing of his tax returns, never heard of the $350,000 that Price, twenty years after the fact, alleged existed.  Legal Director Author Services (ASI) Ryland Hawkins vouched for Price’s allegation claiming to have documentation of the payment.  (Note, I held the Legal Dir ASI post from its inception through a year beyond Hubbard’s death, and then subsequently worked for Miscavige for another seventeen years – and I can tell you such a representation/reg tag could not and would not happen absent being ordered by Miscavige directly.)

Shortly after challenging this nifty set up, Rachel Denk, who worked at ASI for many years on the Writers of the Future activity, was inexplicably and rapidly routed out of ASI, treated like a security threat.

Rachel never caved to this con.  After Gene’s death and after enduring an IAS reg assault to take out a home equity loan to donate to the IAS because “Miscavige has a really big situation,” Rachel was treated with increasing disrespect by the radical corporate Scientology corporations.

Recently, in order to clear the air on this saga, Rachel requested copies of the documentation that Hawkins claimed to possess about Dr Denk’s “secret” earnings.  Her written request has been ignored.

Rachel asked me to analyze the situation from my experience and substantial bullpen data on ASI and the Estate of L Ron Hubbard.   Having no access to records I can only speculate.  Overall, it sounds to me like a sick sociopathic game of David Miscavige; pimping Stephen Price to play David Miscavige to Gene’s L Ron Hubbard.  Enturbulating, lying, and cheating him to the grave.

Here is further opinion, with facts provided in order to support that view.

Pat Broeker, who coordinated Estate matters and finances during Hubbard’s last five years on the road and at the Creston ranch, and David Miscavige put the church’s tax exemption at serious risk in the eighties because they could not account for the millions of dollars of cash relayed by Miscavige to Broeker to keep Hubbard’s operation operating over the years.

After Hubbard’s death, while we were negotiating with the IRS for tax exemption of all church related entities, the IRS required a detailed accounting of Hubbard’s Estate as a starter.   Miscavige used the predicament in his inimitable Machiavellian way to scare Broeker away from asserting “church” leadership because of his alleged personal criminal liability surrounding 1.8 million dollars that Broeker had received but could not account for.  Miscavige assigned attorney Monique Yingling to supervise a several month project wherein Broeker was made to hole up at Creston and through “creative accounting” make the missing 1.8 million dollars magically re-appear.

I know that a tremendous amount of that “creative accounting” involved Broeker doctoring a pile of receipts he possessed to add defensible significances to them.  Beyond that I do not know how Broeker, Miscavige, Yingling and Norman F. Starkey (the nominal executor of the estate of L Ron Hubbard, working for de facto executor Miscavige) managed to pull it off. I do know for a fact they were 1.8 million short and somehow wound up after several months “accounting” for it.

Knowing all this, I offer a possible scenario, that — while speculation — is far more credible than Miscavige’s silence.  That is, the Miscavige team created a half dozen or so “big ticket” item expenses that were never in fact expended to cover the substantial shortfall.  They could have carefully monitored Denk’s and other possible imaginary recipients’ tax filings to create income that would never be noticed or questioned by the IRS, given the timing and status of Hubbard’s final returns and the final returns of the “recipients.”  Not undoable, given that Denk along with other potential recipients had their returns prepared by compliant, cooperating Scientologist tax preparers.

Caveat.  This is speculation and opinion.  But, I feel comfortable sharing my thoughts given these facts:

  1. I witnessed Starkey and Miscavige joking on numerous occasions about the ongoing “creative accounting” project of Broeker.  They thought themselves so clever by killing two birds with one stone: a) keeping Broeker off church management lines, and b) defrauding the Internal Revenue Service. I know for a fact they had to create 1.8 million dollars of “expenses” during the lifetime of Hubbard retroactively  – which they did to the satisfaction of a skeptical Internal Revenue Service.
  2. Rachel Denk – like the authorities investigating the death of Biggi Reichert, e.g. – was flat out stonewalled by Miscavige’s Author Services Inc (ASI) when seeking to investigate the mystery.
  3. There should no longer be a mystery as a great deal of information has now been made known to set the record straight. There is no possible reason for Miscavige to hide the ball unless of course disclosure would reveal fraud of the order of magnitude I have surmised here.

In short, the entire matter reeks of the skullduggery, fraud, deceit, cover up, vengefulness, and just plain nastiness that are the trademarks of David Miscavige.

If he has a better explanation, I am all ears.

Is David Miscavige a Threat to the Public At Large?

If you think the Petition to President Obama has nothing to do with you, your friends, your family, and even your neighbors, think again.  What follows is but one of many stories about how the taxpayer subsidized, mafia-like tactics of David Miscavige pose a danger to society at large.  Ratchet up your confront of evil a couple notches.  David Miscavige with a billion tax free dollars is capable of – and is trying his hardest to achieve – a tremendous amount of chaos and hurt  even to those who have never heard of Scientology. If you don’t want advances in the sciences and particularly health sciences to be squashed like the Dark Ages by a well-heeled sociopath then go to  http://wh.gov/4Os and sign the petition now – then get five other people to do the same.

Robert Almblad with one of his grandchildren

by Mike Rinder

Why doesn’t David Miscavige, the self-appointed leader of the Church of Scientology, want the world to have clean, safe ice?

And just what is “safe ice” and why is it important?

It’s a dirty not-so-little secret in the world of food service, hotels and hospitals that commercial ice machines make “dirty” ice. Numerous studies have confirmed this.  Seven  years ago a high school student in Tampa, FL made national headlines by taking samples from fast food outlet ice machines and toilet bowls.  Testing showed the toilet bowl water was cleaner 70% of the time. Hospital administrators are aware that ice machines are a source of hospital acquired illnesses (HAI’s) – more than 100,000 people die in US hospitals each year due to HAI’s, many more contract non-fatal illnesses they did not have when they were admitted.  But until now there was no technology to solve the problem.

Enter Robert Almblad, an internationally known engineer and inventor, who lives and works in Tarpon Springs, FL.

Robert solved the problem of “dirty ice,” with an innovative solution that could potentially save lives or prevent the spread of illness.

This was big news and welcome news to those aware of the problem.

http://www.tampabay.com/news/business/finally-a-clean-ice-machine-says-tarpon-springs-inventor/1151052

Not so to David Miscavige.  He perceives safe ice as a threat to his “empire” and Robert Almblad among the top 3 on his “enemies list.”

Why? Because Robert Almblad dared to associate with Scientology whistleblowers Mike Rinder and Marty Rathbun.  And even worse, Almblad retained Mike Rinder to work for him.

In the twisted mind of Miscavige, he is determined to force Almblad to disassociate himself from Rinder so Rinder is put into a “more amenable frame of mind” without a job and will therefore cry “uncle” and stop exposing the abuses of Miscavige.

But when Almblad refused to bend to the pressure, Miscavige implemented a plan to destroy him utterly – and along with it, his safe ice invention.

Miscavige’s pattern is a familiar one. Numerous media reports document his ruthless and unethical acts in furtherance of his desire to maintain leadership of his cult.

And so, Almblad became the subject of a widespread, expensive and incredible campaign of harassment.

His friends, family and neighbors were contacted, asking them “questions” like “What do  you know about your neighbor being a criminal?” Of course, there was no evidence of anything of the sort, but merely asking the question throws doubt in the minds of people that don’t know someone.

Robert was followed everywhere for months on end.  Walking the dogs. To restaurants. Stores. Doctor’s offices. Literally everywhere.  It’s a familiar pattern – see the Corpus Christi Caller Times articles documenting the harassment campaign against Marty Rathbun in Texas: http://www.caller.com/news/2011/aug/06/former-scientology-film-crew-member-describes-in/,  http://www.caller.com/news/2011/sep/19/former-scientology-official-arrested-in-on-the/ and http://www.caller.com/news/2011/sep/20/san-patricio-county-rejects-charge-against/

He was followed when he went out of state,  Miscavige and his gang gaining access to airline reservations and dispatching their henchmen as far away as Seattle, Washington.

The staff of his company have been harassed and followed. One staff member, never involved in Scientology, in a now also familiar pattern, is being prosecuted based on false reports filed with the State Attorneys Office after he was approached by Miscavige agents at his home.

Miscavige’s minions set up an office across street to surveil Almblad’s office 24/7.  And because three grown oak trees obstructed the view, someone took a chain saw to them in the middle of the night and left the trees blocking the road.  ONLY the three trees in front of Almblad’s office – no others.

One of the chainsawed trees

From this vantage point, they noted everyone who visited Almblad’s office, and they too would shortly thereafter receive visits from “reporters” or “private investigators” now “investigating” Robert Almblad on behalf of the Church of Scientology.  It got so bad that a Church operative, “Freedom Magazine” hack Jim Lynch burst into a private hotel meeting room in Miami Beach to attempt to intimidate businessmen Almblad was meeting with.  Lynch of course left the scene of the incident before the hotel security could get police there.

These incidents had only one purpose in mind – scare away anyone from doing business with Robert Almblad. And in the process destroy the safe ice business and drive him into bankruptcy. With that, Almblad would be taught a lesson and Rinder would be unemployed.

The campaign to break Robert Almblad failed.  He refused to cave in to their intimidation tactics.

He sucked it up and continued to do his job.

Then, another familiar tactic – numerous websites purporting to be “Robert Almblad”  sites  appeared with outrageous lies and innuendo, intended to sour anyone from doing business with Mr. Almblad.  And then a “special edition” Freedom Magazines further libeling him.  Of course, Miscavige knows that as Robert Almblad finances his inventions himself, he will run out of money before he could recover anything from a protracted legal battle to disprove the lies and sue for contract interference.

It’s a game Miscavige is familiar with – bully with an unlimited budget squashing anyone he sees as a threat.

But Almblad still refused to buckle.  He bought a throw away phone. Rather than flying, he drove from Florida to business meetings in New England so he could not be followed. He used a different name so Miscavige’s agents couldn’t spread lies about him before he could get his foot in the door.

He was not going to give in to the bully.

And while Miscavige spread all sorts of untruths about Robert Almblad being a dishonest, money-motivated scam artist, his actions have proved the precise opposite. By refusing to buckle under, by standing by Mike Rinder and Marty Rathbun in spite of every reason not to, he has demonstrated a level of personal integrity and courage that is rarely seen.

Will he be able to get his safe ice invention to market? That is not clear. If he does, it will be in the face of tremendous odds. And if he doesn’t, Miscavige still won’t win as Almblad, Rinder and Rathbun will not be deterred from exposing his crimes. But the world will not see the benefits of safe ice machines thanks to the machinations of a megalomaniac cult leader bent on the destruction of anything that does not forward his agenda. And every person who gets the flu from eating unclean ice in a restaurant or contracts a disease in a hospital will know who to thank – and perhaps who to sue.

State of Texas vs. Mark “Marty” Rathbun part II

Look what South Texas’ version of Carl Bernstein dug up in his first day back on the job after the weekend.

http://www.caller.com/news/2011/sep/19/former-scientology-official-arrested-in-on-the/

After 155 days of lying to the people of Ingleside on the Bay, the San Patricio County Attorney and Sheriff, the San Antonio Express and Mark Collette of the Corpus Christi Caller Times about there being no affiliation between SQBs and the “church” of Scientology, the “church” of Scientology International’s Director of Legal Affairs winds up with his bloody fingerprints on the pistol.

And, whoever heard of a “victim” on the run from the long arm of the law?  There may be good reasons.

The affidavit of Norman James Moore is sworn on the 7th day after the event (perjured to read the 6th day) which happens to also be the night (early afternoon for POB) I appeared on Germany’s biggest talk show getting agreement from the government of Germany that Scientology and the “church” of Scientology are two different kettles of fish, and that the latter stinks to high heaven.

Why do you think POB had Norman put the date of the incident as the 2nd (rather than the true date of the 1st)?  Maybe because I’ve got plenty of video of Norman and the SQBs on the 1st trying to prevent me from going to Germany.  In any event, Norman – by perjuring himself – has committed yet another Texas crime on behalf of his dear leader.

It’ll be interesting to find out why the warrant was issued on the 8th and sat eight days unserved till 5:40 on Friday the 16th (just after the JoP left work so that no bail could be issued till at least until Saturday and perhaps Monday); and why the SQBs showed up at the end of the street moments before the serving D/Sheriff arrived with not only golf cart, but their blacked out SUV which followed us for the nearly one hour drive to jail; and why the D/Sheriff who got on duty only ten minutes earlier (5:30) received an urgent instruction from the desk Sgt to serve the warrant immediately – particularly when San Pat County can be like the wild, wild west on a Friday night.

Ralph Gomez, Bart Parr, Joanne Wheaton, John Allender, Allan Cartwright, David Miscavige – you can run but you cannot hide for long.

Stay tuned – I have a feeling it’ll get curiouser and curiouser and then it’ll die an ignominous death just like that being dramatized by the architect of this sickness.  Regardless, the unanswered questions will be answered.

Jason Beghe

Jason and me August 2008

Jason Beghe was just written up by Village Voice editor in chief Tony Ortega for his important role in “crippling Scientology”, http://blogs.villagevoice.com/runninscared/2011/09/jason_beghe_top_25_crippling_scientology.php

While I respect Tony for his ability to confront the cult and his intelligence in understanding the goals and purposes of Independent Scientology vs those of Radical Corporate Scientology, I don’t see eye to eye with him on what Jason Beghe’s products and intentions are.  The video interview Jason did with Mark Bunker in early 2008 accurately captured the raw, painful truth that was Jason’s shortly after he made the lonely and courageous step through the wall of fire that is cutting ties with Miscavige’s cult.   But, to define Jason by that moment does him a tremendous injustice in my view.

Jason is one of my closest friends.  He spent a week at our home in August 2008.   We spent dozens of hours together on the deck overlooking the bay grappling with the subject of Scientology.   By the end of the week we had synthesized a vision.  That vision was to help Scientologists heal and to heal Scientology itself by means, primarily, of letting the truth be known.  Though the church, and apparently Scientology haters too, will never believe it, Jason and I concurred that to waste much time “fighting” or “taking down” Miscavige would be counter-productive.   Jason – who is one of the most intelligent and well educated people (and Scientology trained to boot) I have had the privilege to know as a good friend – understood when I demonstrated that Miscavige has sucked the church into a nightmare GPM (Goal/Problem/Mass – the positive/negative, resistance trap that makes one becomes what one resists) that now routinely produces the precise opposite (Problem) of what it postulates (Goal) resulting the in the destructive cult (Mass) it has become.

Jason is not out to “cripple” or even harm in any way “Scientology.”   Jason is all about the truth.  I’ll provide two examples to demonstrate that fact.

Jason went through ten years of the most vicious Black Dianetics within RCS (Radical Corporate Scientology).   It began in 1996.  Jason had completed training through Class V at Celebrity Center International (CCI).  Jason was such an effective auditor during his internship that a number of people began requesting that he by name deliver their Grades and NED.   CCI, as is the church’s wont, of course extended his internship because they were making beau coup bucks off their star auditor.

Then Miscavige decided overnight to destroy the training line up that L Ron Hubbard spent three decades perfecting.   Jason was told that he had to re-train because Miscavige had determined some unnamed people had messed up the tech.  Jason said “ok, let’s get started.”   He was told he had to go to the reg.  Jason, being Jason, then uttered the now famous words (paraphrase), “let me get this straight, you screwed up the tech, and you want me to pay for it? Get the fuck out of here!”

That began a ten year “repair”from hell for Jason.   At a cost of hundreds of thousands of dollars to himself, Jason was put through endless Ls repairs, NOTs repairs, FPRD, sec checking, and the most reverse, evaluative “ethics” imaginable. I know that for a fact because in 2002 while I was at CCI auditing Tom Cruise, Miscavige ordered that I check out the endless drama that had become the Jason Beghe cycle while I was there.   While Jason claims our couple of weeks together was the one bright light during that decade in hell, I too was making him wrong for his “counter intention” to “Golden Age of Tech” (Miscavige’s 1996 cancellation of the training line up of L Ron Hubbard).  Unfortunately, I was ordered to Flag to handle the McPherson case the moment I completed Cruise on NOTS (OT V, higher Scientology auditing level) and to drop Jason like a hot potato.  Had we stuck it out together perhaps we both would have walked in ’02.

Having met Jason six years later and having the opportunity to talk frankly with no censors or fixed ideas, I came to understand this:

Jason Beghe was persecuted and tortured for ten years because he had the integrity to stand up and say what probably 97.5% of Scientologists thought (but suppressed out of fear) in May 1996.
Second Example.  In April 2009 when the church learned that Mike Rinder was considering corroborating my story with the St Pete Times, Miscavige’s response was to send six cult members and two attorneys to Denver (where Mike then lived) to ambush him, threaten him and attempt to purchase his silence to prevent the truth from seeing the light of day.  The afternoon we learned of the plot, Jason hopped on an airplane immediately on his own dime, and we descended upon Denver from opposite directions as reinforcement for Mike.  The rest is history.

As to the assault case referred to in Tony Ortega’s article, again more context is warranted.  Within a couple of days of Jason returning home from the successful Denver mission, a RCS process server walked more than a hundred yards into Jason’s property.  The process server’s contact was handwritten on the subpoena he was there to serve. The contact was not a lawyer.  It was Greg Schulman, a former Guardian’s Office member and three decade OSA “Intelligence” veteran.   The process server applied many of the tactics to provoke Jason that we are all now familiar with being applied to me daily and to Mike Rinder for nearly a year.

Unfortunately, Jason was not as schooled in OSA’s tactics as Mike and I were and so his reaction was exploited.  Knowing all the circumstances I am proud to this day that Jason used as little force as he did in dealing with the situation.

OSA used teams of lawyers to work the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Office and the Los Angeles D/A’s office to bring a case against Jason.   They used the process to harrass him and cost him a lot of  time and money over two years.   Had we had more resources back then, we would have taken it to trial – I advocated for it from the beginning but we just did not have the resources back then to finance such an adventure.

I have had 11 (eleven) criminal cases brought against me by the RCS because of various restrained ways and means I dealt with people getting into my face constantly over time.  They have hired four law firms in Texas (including the largest one in South Texas) to lobby local officials to prosecute me in my own back yard alone.  Unsuccessful to date, and (knock on wood), in the future.

But I will tell you right now who kept me out of jail.  Jason Beghe.  Had it not been for the two years of hell RCS put him through, and the remarkable poise with which he handled it, there is no doubt but that by now I would have done something far more serious than the light open handed taps Jason used to usher a creepy lurker away from his then 4 and 6 year old sons and his wife.

Jason is a man’s man.

And for the benefit of David Miscavige and his thirty some odd anti-me web pages, I’ll make it crystal clear, something you can quote:

I love Jason Beghe.

Why the Obsession?

Some have pondered lately why the Miscavige obsession with Casablanca.   I have some ideas to share on that score.

First please review a portion of an essay I posted on 26 September 2009, Independent Scientologists community:

I am fairly certain that if a decent percentage of independent Scientologists stand up, identify themselves, and freely associate with like-minded friends in the light of day at least three things will happen:

a. Many individual lives will regain meaning. Many more lives still will reap the gains from each of us who independently and freely use Scientology with no other motivation than to help others reach higher states of beingness.

b. Scientology (the subject and community) will experience a renaissance within society at large.

c. Miscavige’s church will be forced to either radically reform by reversing its suppressive operating basis or face its inevitable demise (note the intransitive is used; it is not because of anything that you or I will do to it that will cause it other than being there comfortably – it will be a self-inflicted fate).

At this point, at this Ethics stage,  I am advocating  that independent thinking Scientologists think hard about being proud of exercising their independence. That they make themselves known and use the title “Scientologist” without shame or embarrassment. That they create community with other independent Scientologists and make it that much safer for those people to get their strength up and flourish. To the extent we tip toe around imaginary egg shells, we are PTS. We cripple our own ability to as-is. If we walk tall, we rehabilitate one another’s abilities to as-is. The Lord knows that this world could use some more of that.

People who have been following this blog for some time understand that this is a message I have often repeated: when enough real Scientologists stand up and be heard as Independents, Miscavige’s resources will be spread so thin trying to intimidate them that his actions will be so ineffectual that the world will see there is nothing to fear from Radical Corporate Scientology.

It is my contention that such a tipping point has been achieved.  I think most overtly announced Independent Scientologists  recognize that, even if the society at large – certain press and law enforcement agencies included – is lagging a bit behind.

In the light of that, Miscavige’s current plan is quite rational for a psychotic motivated by intent to enslave and destroy everybody else in order to survive.  His think goes something like this:

“If we can’t scare them into compliance or shivering fear any more and we can’t control any more resources to keep trying, why, we concentrate all resources on ruining utterly the guy who told them to stand up the first place.  Then you’ll see them scattering like cockroaches.”

I personally believe Miscavige is rushing headlong toward the second option in point “c” of the essay excerpt above in frantically executing his current thinking.

There is one thing I am certain of.   That is, if more people stand up, step up and be counted it will make the thwarting of Miscavige’s current planning, and realization of the goals set forth in the essay, a heck of a lot easier.

Miscavige Reform

Miscavige Reform. An oxymoron?

Please review this post of mine from 21 October, 2009 – approximately 9 months into the Reformation:

https://markrathbun.wordpress.com/2009/10/21/reform/

In that post I outlined the “reforms” that Miscavige was hustling into place in order to escape the heat we put on him.  I noted at the end of that post that one would be a fool to fall for such public relations moves on Miscavige’s part. He always feigns reform when his crimes come under the spotlight. It was all calculated tactics, organized crime SOP since the dawn of such groups.

And history proves once again that we can predict this criminal Miscavige like sunrise and sunset.  For example, Miscavige tried to counter claims of harassment by Private Eyes for several months while being investigated by CNN and BBC and a host of others.  The second the outside lenses are off him it is business as usual – examples given:

 http://www.mysanantonio.com/news/local_news/article/Scientologists-behind-harassment-campaign-in-1459662.php

And now this.  Remember the buy offs of potential Independents by drastic reduction of Freeloader debts?   Hell, Tommy Two Tone and the Sutter/Pouw mission were telling people coast to coast – “we had it all wrong, there was lost tech on F/L debts, Ron says you owe nothing (as long as you continue to worship Botox Dave Miscavige)” .   Well, even that hush money strategy has been shelved – and the bait and switch is on like never before.

The evidence is in this “Church” of Scientology email message below:

Hi, I want to let you know important data that I just got from
uplines. This is not to make you worried or a gimmick etc. I found out that this pilot project in ILO on freeloaders does not exist anymore. Also an issue on FL billings is being worked on and will come out soon, which changes the way how FL’s get billed and the amount of any bill will very likely increase.
I urge you though to find a solution and you are done and can get back on lines. You don’t want to wait and pay more afterwards. For example, the earlier issue on freeloader bills told to pay all courses at full price. That was quite different. Now let’s see what will be done. In addition we have a regular 25% credit and that ends at 30 June! Look this over and find a way. You can also go over with me. I am interested to see how we can complete your debt right away,ML, Marcel Org Collections Officer FSO

Bait and switch is essence in the Radical Corporate “church.”

indies and stats

2011 group photo 90 folks up from 48 in last years.  Number of people willing and able to travel from 19 states and 4 foreign countries (including France, UK, Australia and Canada) and manage to make it to the photo shoot.

Today also marks the Four Millionth visit to this site.

Current Alexa Blog Stats:

International Reach Ranking:

Scientology.org 98,035th

markrathbun.wordpress.com: 93,179th

US reach ranking:

Scientology.org 57,583rd

markrathbun.wordpress.com: 26,118th

On a few occasions over the past two years we have crossed graphs and surpassed Scientology.org and its 1,400 linking sites and Miscaviges millions spent on  enhancing its ranking (while we spend nothing).  However, we have exceeded their rankings almost continuously since mid April, right when their current, non stop daily insanities started being performed on our doorstep (The blue shirts first appeared on 17 April).

Dave’s latest PR coup on the blue shirt front appears in the early on-line edition of the Corpus Christi Caller Times:

One stat Dave definitely has going straight up and vertical.  Rope production.

Oh, yeah – throughout this meltdown, we’ve been reversing Miscavige’s Black Dianetics on an average of two people per week.

Strength, Courage and Wisdom

Church of Scientology members would do well to read the writings of Martin Luther King. In the following one sentence King pithily describes the danger of what they have become individually and collectively:

Nothing in all the world is more dangerous than sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity.

That people would continue to forfeit their homes, their retirement funds, and their children’s educations in order to line the pockets of a head of a cult who spends that money consistently, and now very overtly, for the purposes of destroying the constitutional rights, the livelihood, and the very life of anyone with the fortitude to step out of cult lock-step is anathema to the very principles Scientology is built upon (not to mention America, and Western Civilization).  The church’s “creed” for example:

We of the church believe…

That all men have inaliable rights to think freely, to talk freely, to write freely their own opinions and to counter or utter or write upon the opinions of others…

And that no agency, less than God has the power to suspend or set aside these rights, overtly or covertly.

Last week the representatives of the 619 people of Ingleside on the Bay Texas, on their own origination and determinism, sought to protect those very rights in their own community:

The Miscavige Cult’s response to this article which was published yesterday was chilling:

1) the cult’s PI Ralph S Gomez stalked my wife and I all day long with three cult members in tow. Seven separate incidents, including the photographing of us at our home and Gomez slowly following us by car during our evening walk.

2) Cult PI Gomez and cult member Joanne Wheaton toured a home across the street from us expressing the intention to purchase it.  Once again, under false pretenses.

3)  Cult PI Ralph S Gomez foreshadowed a Miscavige cult legal threat to the city.  While denying his affiliation with the cult to many citizens over the past weeks, and lying about his identity and affiliations, Gomez wanted to know whether the ordinance was directed at he and his cohorts because of their “religion.”

This coming Tuesday at 7 p.m. the town council will consider the Cult’s application for a 5-day permit to shoot a “documentary” in Ingleside on the Bay.  Notwithstanding the fact they have spent ten weeks disturbing Ingleside on the Bay using the cover of “just filming a documentary.”  The Cult has applied for the permit under the name Squirrel Busters productions notwithstanding Gomez’ and Wheaton’s exchange last week with an Ingleside Police Officer memorialized in the officer’s report as follows:

I asked Wheaton where she worked, and she confirmed that she and Gomez worked for Squirrel Busters.  At that time, I asked Wheaton and Gomez both if they had any business cards for the company, and they both replied no.  I asked who the producer was, who the filmographer was, and who the company is owned by.  Neither Wheaton, nor Gomez could answer my questions, and continued to tell me they are filming a documentary on Mr. Mark Rathbun, and have simple questions that they want to answer, and until Rathbun does, they will continue to follow him.  I asked Wheaton and Gomez if they would have the common courtesy to allow Rathbun privacy while eating dinner, and they both replied, not until we get answers.  Neither Wheaton, nor Gomez produced any identity cards that state they work for Squirrel Busters Productions…

A number of good citizens of Ingleside and Ingleside on the Bay have emailed me since I posted my Open Letter to them on this blog, https://markrathbun.wordpress.com/2011/06/26/open-letter-to-residents-of-ingleside-on-the-bay-texas/

They have asked what they might be able to do to help.  While none of you have any duty or obligation to do a darned thing about all this, if you feel you and your community are in any way being disturbed, abused, or gamed by the Los Angeles based cult of Scientology (aka Squirrel Busters, aka Falcon Investigations) you might want to weigh in on the cult’s permit application at IOB City Hall Tuesday 5 July at 7 p.m.

Thank you all for your continuing strength, courage and wisdom.
