Vulture Culture Casualty: The Entire Mission Network

Miscavige’s maniacal greed meltdown has reached out to and apparently destroyed the Mission network (the smaller “churches” that once provided introductory Scientology services to many people in just about every city of 1/2 million people or more).  A very recent defector who was in a position to witness it all has risked his future relations with family and prospects for business to provide us with the facts.  Meet my man Gabriel and be sure to let him know how you appreciate his courage.

I have served as a staff member in the mission network for a number of years.  I have very current data in the SMI Network that corroborates what Mr. Rathbun, Mr. Rinder and so many others are reporting.

Currently the mission network is on the verge of collapse. In terms of management it has been completely unmocked.  I know of three missions that have closed in the past year or so: Lake Charles, Lafayette, and Gulfport.  Lafayette has been open for a decade and used to be pretty strong – until one of its Mission Holders (an OT) died of cancer.  The other MH got a “handling” at Flag and came back saying that her SP was the MH Lake Charles. Need I say more?

Meanwhile the Gulfport mission, a new baby mission, got reged out of existence by PDU.  PDU reges camped out at the MHes’ house and extracted approximately $2 million over the course of two years.  The MH complained about paying the rent for the building to keep the mission open, and finally just shut it down. Of course, this was a DM mission from the get-go: no auditor, sup, or delivery terminal to start with, $50K in books in the garage, so what could you expect?

They got the first million from them to help pay for the Basics manufacturing facility. Which makes one wonder: did Dave have that bad boy paid in full by parishioner donos before the presses even started rolling?

Meanwhile many “missions” report no points in the Birthday Game, which equals “dead mission” (DM?).

The CO SMI EUS was transferred to WUS and stuck into the Pasadena Idle Org on mission never to return (until I guess it’s time to go put on a show at the next org). The CO SMI LATAM (who doesn’t speak English very well) was ripped to SMI EUS. No CO SMI LATAM replaced him, so that cont has no CO SMI.

A couple years ago, the SMI Officer Int, who was very strong in the mission network from everything I heard from MHes, Claire Edwards, vaporized. Rumors were that she went way up the line to Int. Now that I’ve been reading your blog I wonder if she might have gone way up the line to the Hole.

Mike Mason took the reins as Mission Consultancy Chief Int as the SMI leader, but also vaporized. I think RPF, then out, but I was not directly on those lines so not sure.

It is no exaggeration to say that 95% of all comm we get from SMI is:
a) Basics sales
b) IAS Donations
c) Event Attendance
d) Dianetics Seminars (which at first glance actually seems slightly closer to on-policy but actually is a joke)

There are no other stats or VFPs. This is all that we were judged by as of late 2011.

The latest push has been to hold a Dianetics Seminar every Saturday and Sunday in every mission. This is a totally bugged target. And heavy ethics were being applied. We actually had terminals from I think ILO calling the MHes and reminding them that their RTC Minimum Standards required them to hold a Dianetics Seminar. It was a thinly veiled threat: “Hold Dianetics Seminars every weekend or we’ll rip your licenses.” In desperation, mission staff took to shoving into the Seminar kids, staff, anybody – stretching out one person over three or four weekends a little at a time – anything (the CO SMI Int later reprimanded MHes at the conference for this very practice, verifying it was flagrant!)

When we didn’t have a Dianetics Seminar, it sounded like the cont CO was getting tortured. It was a huge deal.

And despite all this PUSH, DON’T DEBUG, DRIVE, seminar attendance remained very low even at the cont level.

More than a year before this point, SMI called the first SMI Conference that it had held since the Basics came out. That’s right, SMI had become such a book outlet that it didn’t even have a SMI Conference for years.

The SMI Conference was run directly by WDC Ideal Orgs, Blankenship. Same Blankenship that I learned from this blog went out-2D and has been paid for silence.

It was a surreal moment for me. Here the SMI Officer Int was gone up-lines, and SMI management was shredded from long-running missions to Idle Orgs, and yet here was WDC Ideal Orgs, as high up as you can get but an entirely different sector, running the SMI Conference!!!  Talk about a total reversal!

Of course, I didn’t think about it too much. I had my own problems – how do I fill up this damn seminar every weekend?  Especially because my CO SMI is reporting the data on the Dianetics Seminar progress directly to WDC Ideal Orgs.

This huge outpoint corroborates the data you have on Miscavige’s circle being so small and closing fast.
There is a ton of pressure right now coming down on missions and I assume orgs to use DM’s magical Div 6 Routes (scripted PE in 2.5 hours with 100% guaranteed re-sign rate? Really?) and especially the HDS.  I guess the new routes are DM’s “handle” on the fact that he has finally reached a point of desperation for fresh blood.

I will send more data when I can.

ML,
Gabriel

Keep telling us about the man, Gabriel, just like Stevie:

Lyrics:

He’s a man
With a plan
Got a counterfeit dollar in his hand
He’s Misstra Know-It-All

Playin’ hard
Talkin’ fast
Makin’ sure that he won’t be the last
He’s Misstra Know-It-All

Makes a deal
With a smile
Knowin’ all the time that his lie’s a mile
He’s Misstra Know-It-All

Must be seen
There’s no doubt
He’s the coolest one with the biggest mouth
He’s Misstra Know-It-All

If you tell him he’s livin’ fast
He will say what do you know
If you had my kind of cash
You’d have more than one place to go oh

Oou…oou…oou oou…oou…

Any place
He will play
His only concern is how much you’ll pay
He’s Misstra Know-It-All

If he shakes
On a bet
He’s the kind of dude that won’t pay his debt
He’s Misstra Know-It-All

When you say that he’s living wrong
He’ll tell you he knows he’s livin’ right
And you’d be a stronger man
if you took Misstra Know-It- All’s advice oh oh

Oou…oou…oou oou…oou…

He’s a man
With a plan
Got a counterfeit dollar in his hand
He’s Misstra Know-It-All

Take my work
Please beware
Of a man that just don’t give a care no
He’s Misstra Know-It-All (Look out he’s coming)

Dum bum bum ba bum bum,
Dum bum bum ba bum bum
Bum bum bum bum bum Say
He’s Misstra Know-It-All

Can this line
Take his hand
Take your hat off to the man who’s got the plan
He’s Misstra Know-It-All

Every boy take your hand
To the man that’s got the plan
He’s Misstra Know-It-All

Give a hand to the man
Don’t you know darn well he’s got the super plan
He’s Misstra Know-It-All

Give a hand to the man
You know damn well he’s got the super plan
He’s Misstra Know-It-All

If we had less of him
Don’t you know we’d have a better land
He’s Misstra Know-It-All

So give a hand to the man
Although you’ve given out as much as you can
He’s Misstra Know-It-All

Check his sound out
He’ll tell it all
Hey
You talk too much you worry me to death
He’s Misstra Know-It-All

More on the Vulture Culture

by Mike Rinder

In light of the ongoing St Pete Times series, here are some further thoughts on the subject.

Some Background:

David Miscavige has a long history of financial rape extending back to his days as “Chairman of the Board Author Services” in the 1980’s.  There he oversaw the Battlefield Earth and Mission Earth “special editions” and “signed artwork prints” exorbitantly priced rip-offs  sold as “investments.”  Anyone who owns these virtually worthless “properties” knows how much they are worth and how much bullshit hype accompanied their sale.

Miscavige also directed the pillaging of org book accounts, forcing orgs and missions to buy bookstocks that they did not need (many of them rotted in basements and eventually became worthless when the “new editions” came out) as the income to the Pubs Orgs resulting in increasing HIS stats at ASI (and consequently his bonuses).

And let’s not forget the International Finance Police, launched under his personal supervision, who went to orgs and missions and “fined” them for imagined transgressions and took the money from their accounts without any recourse.

But these were just warm up rounds to prepare him for the multi-million dollar scams to come – the IAS, “Basics” and “Ideal Orgs.”

“COB IAS”

In late 2006, David Miscavige ordered Janet McLaughlin (President IASA) and her executives, who were in Los Angeles at the time, rounded up and taken to the Hole.  Janet’s husband, Colm, was sent to the Freewinds under guard where he was put in lockdown.  Colm remains there to this day, separated from his wife for 5 years. He has reportedly tried to escape, but was gang tackled on the dock and dragged back to the ship (Security telling the Port Police that he was “drunk”).

The IAS had appeased Miscavige with extravagant gifts and vacations over the years (and he in turn had been the chief fundraiser for the IAS – he liked to announce to anyone in his vicinity that “he could raise more money with his pinkie, and without ever uttering the word “money” than all the IAS regges put together).

Huge amounts of money were spent by the IAS to cater to POB – and it was funded through a scheme whereby the staff of the IAS were paid “bonuses” that they turned over to form a slush fund for POB/Tom Cruise jaunts/parties/food/gifts.

Despite the well-known arrogance of the IAS executives, their shopping sprees in London, Paris and Los Angeles, their bonuses and perks….  President IASA had become disenchanted with the over the top extravagances of POB and especially with respect to his best friend and “Deputy COB,”  Tom Cruise.

Being in disagreement with POB was a one way ticket to oblivion, and Janet made her disagreements known. In fact, she was in LA as she had asked to meet “COB” face to face in order to air her disagreements.  He in turn had her tailed by PI’s, her car had a tracking device installed on it, her phones were monitored.

Her “disaffection” gave Miscavige a justification for taking her out. The operation was executed in typical Miscavige total overwhelm style. 30 people descended on the IAS Offices in LA  to round up the 5 women and separate and contain Colm.

Concurrently orders were sent to the Freewinds, executed by the RTC Rep Lurie Bellotti, CO CMO Ship Sue Price and Miscavige’s favorite hitman, Captain Freewinds, Mike Napier. All IAS staff were herded into the Starlight Cabaret, their phones, beepers and computers were confiscated and they were all made to “confess” to their crimes against Miscavige (i.e. any agreement with Janet that Miscavige and Cruise were overly extravagant).  The only ones that survived the purge were those who were loyal to Miscavige. As a separate note,  Mike Napier is widely hated by the staff on the Freewinds.  He is a Miscavige pet who has been protected even though he had out 2D with a shore terminal, and also with the Bookstore Officer Freewinds, while married. He was not beached, nor sent to the RPF, or removed from post.  In fact, his indiscretions were  kept quiet and dealt with by Sue Price and Lurie Belotti . Napier is a real piece of work, hypocritically vicious “I am unreasonable about 2D out ethics”, including requiring Freewinds staff to get his permission to marry, which he would often withhold simply out of cruelty.

With Janet and anyone in agreement with her out of the way, Miscavige began running the IAS personally.  He was in daily communication with IAS Regges (though he falsely claims in legal filings that he has nothing to do with the day to day operations of the church and nothing at all to do with the IAS).

Since late 2006, with nothing but POB sycophants in the IAS , it has become his personal  “SS” (the few remaining in RTC and the CMO are his personal “Gestapo”) and as a result the IAS has taken over Scientology like a cancer taking over and destroying a body.  Today, the IAS are beyond criticism as “everyone knows” if you mess with the IAS you are “messing with COB.”

The IAS specialize in doom and gloom briefings accompanied by intense pressure to suck blood out of the stones that pass for Scientology public these days. It is ironic that the guy who is running them stands on stage at his international extravaganzas proclaiming massive expansion and worldwide acceptance of Scientology at “unprecedented, unparalleled, unreal and unbelievable” levels.

These days, everyone is fair game for the IAS – more and more SO members show up on the rolls of patron gluteus maximus as they become older and eventually inherent from their parents, along with former SO Members trying to buy their way back into good graces.

And even the RPF are now prospects for the voracious regges. If someone in the RPF has money, all the rules of the RPF are set aside.  Regges take people out of the RPF to hit them up (often at 2 in the morning when they are trying to make a quota and there are no other people around, so they happily roust RPFers out of bed to gang reg them). Some have even been convinced to pay over their inheritance to “make up the damage” for supposed offenses that caused them to be assigned to the RPF.

Under COB IAS the pressure to increase income has increased dramatically. The FSO quota  for the annual IAS event was $10 million a couple of years ago, its probably more by now.

COB IAS has morphed the IAS, which is not contemplated in any policy, into a massive parasite immune to any efforts to curtail its insatiable appetite.

The Basic on The Basics

When Miscavige originally ordered that the manuscripts be gathered together for all LRH books and compared to the published editions, Jon Horwich and myself were assigned the job of going through the books.

We had a time machine order from Miscavige to get a book done EACH DAY. It also included putting together a glossary for each book.  This of course was insane, made doubly so by the fact that Jon and I were spending almost as much time answering questions from Miscavige’s personal staff and his other sycophants demanding to know what we had done and whether we would “meet the TM” as we were working on the books.

In the end, people were assigned to stand over us to keep us awake – we were sleeping a maximum of 2 hours a nite because it was easier not going to bed than being woken up constantly by idiots demanding we get out of bed because we were “behind TM, and if COB says it can be done in this amount of time you are proving you are CI to him and LRH if you don’t meet the TMs and go to bed instead.”

Eventually, Miscavige busted us off the project as “CI” he “personally took it over” because “nobody else could do it.”

He then spent 2 years completing this job (virtually 24/7 if you believe the statements the church makes to the media) he had ordered and beaten us to get done in 2 weeks!

But then, “because COB had put so much time and effort into it” it became the MOST IMPORTANT thing in Scientology.  Every part of it, from the editing of the text to the typesetting, cover design, what words are in the glossaries, setting up the printing presses was “personally done” by “COB.” Of course, this is how everything goes in his world – nobody can be trusted to do anything right, so he has to be the only one.

The real tragedy came when the books (and lectures) were released.

Now it was a personal affront to “COB” if the sales were not “highest ever” each week as this was “the MOST IMPORTANT THING in the history of Scientology.”  He set his usual unreal quotas – it goes like this.  “There are 8 million Scientologists in the world, every one of them needs at least one set, so we need to sell 8 million and if that doesn’t happen I will find who is CI and blow them away.”  And thus the insanity ratcheted up to a level never seen before.

Staff everywhere became “book consultants” with quotas that had to be met each day or they could not go to bed. This included ALL OF MANAGEMENT, including WISE, SMI, ABLE and OSA.  RTC became the booksales quota police, enforcing that nobody could go to bed without meeting their quota.

In this era the criminality on book lines reached new lows.  Huge numbers of people had books debited from their accounts without their knowledge. People were regged to buy sets for others – and they subsequently showed up on the doorstep of unsuspecting public who had separately bought their own copies. It even descended to “loaning debits” – people would be convinced to “borrow” others APs to get sets of books and then “repay” the persons’ account at a later date.  SMI and ABLE began taking reserves accounts from the few remaining missions and groups. Mission Starter packages that had been donated in previous stat push campaigns were “converted” into Basics packages.

Of course, the criminality was applauded when the “stats” were reported by the RTC Rep (the RTC Rep ILO, Tracye Danilovich is one of the most incompetent people ever to rise to a position of authority in the church – her ONLY talent is telling POB what he wants to hear and screaming at others that they are “CI”) and then subsequently when the criminality was exposed that same RTC Rep would be indignant that anyone would sink to such levels of out ethics.

The DM Birthday Game

See earlier posts on the subject of Ideal Orgs:

https://markrathbun.wordpress.com/2010/04/17/idle-orgs-the-great-ponzi-scheme/

https://markrathbun.wordpress.com/2010/06/22/scientology-idle-org-strategy-a-sad-tale/

This is the third prong of the master propagandist who sucks the lifeblood out of anyone in his vicinity.

The LRH Birthday Game, as covered in LRH ED 339R and 339R-1 is to make all orgs the size of Old St Hill – and in so doing, make being on staff viable and move all staff up the Bridge to OT.

But POB had a better idea as that was just too damned hard.

Convince Scientologists that what they should do instead is buy fancy (often out of the way) buildings, and call these “Ideal Orgs.”  This of course required NO management structure, no Universe Corps of auditors and C/Ses to move the staff to OT and the PUBLIC could be made responsible for getting it done through the “OT Ambassadors.”  But even more amazing – they would raise the money and buy the building and it would then be turned over to Int Reserves.

And the side benefit – keep showing the Kool Aid drinkers buildings and keep pounding in that this equates to “expansion.”

Today, all that is required to “demonstrate” expansion under POB’s watch is to buy more buildings (or sell more Basics).  No delivery needed.  No new people in. No raw public booksales.

The crown jewel of this strategy is been the “Super Power” building. They have convinced people to turn over enough money to build the “cathedral” 3 times over, telling them that the “last money is needed to complete the building this year” for at least 5 years.

This, all by itself, is a massive moneymaker. And without the need to deliver a single hour of auditing or course – in fact, it probably makes more money empty than full!  Though POB promotes that this is the tech that will “make planetary clearing a reality” (KTL which was the earlier touted solution isn’t mentioned any more and isn’t even sold or delivered, and there isn’t much talk about 10,000 on Solo NOTs handling the planet either ) he will not complete the building as to do so will result in 2 things:

  1. A drop in income
  2. Exposing that the place is a cavernous morgue as he cannot fill it up and it will be apparent to ANYONE.

The DM Birthday Game is about MEST and money.  Auditing and training is long forgotten in the world of the RCS.  If Miscavige is the Pope, Money is the King.
What Your Fees Buy:

This is what LRH said about money given to the Church. It is something that used to be broadly distributed in the Church but is now hard to come by (for obvious reasons). These are excerpts that make clear just what you were buying when you paid for auditing and training, when there was no separate IAS regging, no Ideal Org regging, no CCHR regging or “donations to libraries” regging. EVERYTHING was paid for through the sale and delivery of Scientology SERVICES.

WHAT YOUR FEES BUY

By L. Ron Hubbard

So the fees you pay for service do not go to me.

A Sea Org member draws only about four pounds a week and his room and board. We run our ships and stations at a cost that would make a cost accountant disbelieve it. So not much of your fee goes to them even though they bear a full burden of management of pure services.

Org staff members over the world work for so little that Execs occasionally get letters from their landladies demanding orgs increase their pay level so staff members can pay their rent.

So not much of your fees goes to them.

Occasionally some org or franchise goes on a big kick of high pay. We very soon pull the rug out from under that. So if your fee went that way for a brief period we corrected the outness fast as we frown on money-motivation like a thundercloud.

Some fringe fellows know that if you had a complete monopoly on the only workable mental technology on the planet you could make billions. That’s why they’re on the “fringe”. So we prevent your fee from going in that direction.

Then where does your fee go?

—–

Since 1950. So-called  “mental health” groups have fought to discredit and decrease the power of Dianetics and Scientology.

So a portion of your fee is spent on patching up the damage done, keeping going in spite of attacks and nullifying the actions against the West of a very choice lot of bad hats. If we didn’t have the documentary evidence I wouldn’t dare mention it.

It costs money to bring cases up to US Supreme Court level as we have. The legal defense expenses we have in a dozen countries is not small.

So a portion of your fees goes to keeping the subject available to you and to the world.

We work very hard to keep tech being done well.  It is nothing for us to put two people on a fast plane and send them half around the world to straighten up the Case Supervision and auditing in an area so you can have confidence in the service you get.

It is routine to send the highest class people we have to handle “ARC Breaks of Long Duration” in the field or on admin lines or to see they get handled.

Your fee supports a long and complex set of communication lines by which tech and admin can be cared for rapidly.

A portion of your fee just the other day began a survey of a backward country to introduce high speed educational processes to bring their people quickly from the stone age up to present time. The “Peace Corps” was also there on cushy government funds building houses for a big construction company at a nice profit. But we, unsupported, began the effective work actually needed there to help the people.

A tiny bit of your fee neated up an area ruined for Americans by the American Navy.

Small parts of your fee heal up a lot of things over the world.

But the biggest part of your fee stays right in your area. It is used to make training and processing and data available to the next fellow first by keeping the org there and second by letting him know about it and third by making as sure as possible that the training and processing he gets is standard and effective.

Your fee keeps the nearest org alive and functioning and the environment safe.

So little by little, using the fees you give us for your service, your training and your processing, we create little by little areas of sanity.

I doubt that anyone is surprised that this is no longer available in the Church or in the OEC Volumes?

The Vulture Culture is a creation of the COB IAS/COB Pubs/COB Ideal Orgs/COB BS.

Carisa Marion Goes To Bat For You

Hello Everybody!

There’s a lot more to the story than what was in the St Pete Times. I’ll be doing a free workshop at the upcoming Freezone convention in Vegas on how to get your money back, not just the paperwork, releases and how to get those right, but the strategies as well. I also have the lines with the attorneys in Florida whether you are suing or not. (do not sign a gag order, period, call me if you need help now on a cycle) It took me 9 months and 16 days.  When you see what really went down you won’t believe it.

I am certain it was my KR on Tommy Davis and Int Execs that got him put away. It got me months of “2 on 1” meetings with OSA, being refused service for 8 months unless I would change my mind. I assigned Int Execs treason for the lies and alteration of the most basic Scientology tech exposed in that interview by the very guys claiming to be “keeping the tech pure”. That was after I was going through hell for my KR on the gross revisions of the FPRD. As soon as I figure out how to do a blog I’ll have it all online. : )

Joe (Childs) was great, we spent months on the phone and he’s heard the real story, however I will never forgive him and Moe the photographer for not allowing me to smile or see the photo beforehand. I understand they want to make us look like we are “lost and hurt” from the suppression but OMG publishing that horrible photo of me on my 50th birthday for the world to see me as a poor victim?! Do I seem lost or hurt to you? I win everytime against them, period.

Remember The Little Yellow House? 1 million dollars, how did I do that? That’s another story and that also took 9 months of daily back and forth and threats of declare in my kitchen after 12 years of keeping that property from investors. I could write a book about the story of that property. But who won? They’ve only had a taste of me. Attempting to steal all that money off my account was the smallest crime they committed against me in 33 years. I handled that easily back in December of last year.

I’m still on post and I’m still working for LRH. They know I’m not going away. Okay you guys, are we ready to take it to the next level or what?!!! Anyone can reach me at

More on Miscavige’s Confusion and Chaos

reference: my last blog post, Miscavige Cancels Hubbard’s Dictionary, at https://markrathbun.wordpress.com/2011/10/04/miscavige-cancels-hubbards-dictionary/

With inexorable promptitude (stolen phrase from a Hubbard Journal) Tony Ortega, editor in chief of the Village Voice, happened to run into an actor who was blown away (in a bad sense) by church of Scientology Celebrity Center International three years ago, post about it, and in the bargain verified in real time just about everything I wrote in the above referenced post this morning.   Take for example this passage from Ortega’s recounting of the story of Philip Boyd:

Another time, he encountered the word “enturbulation” in a Hubbard book. “I tried to look it up and realized it was something Hubbard invented,” he says. (Hubbard used it to mean agitation or disruption.) Boyd asked a supervisor about it and says he was told, “Hubbard was highly educated, and used words that weren’t on this planet.” Boyd says he found that pretty ridiculous.

Please read the rest of the story – and tell me was I lying when I wrote?:

His thinking apparently goes something like this, the longer the runway the more time to squeeze every last dime out of the rube before he learns enough Scientology to realize what they are doing to the poor sap.

Check it:

Hubbard wasn’t joking when he urged we get busy and start building a better bridge.

Miscavige’s OT IX Release

For those naive enough to continue chasing David Miscavige’s elusive, imaginary and expensive carrots I’ve got news direct from the mouth of your “Pope.”

At the 2005 Maiden Voyage aboard the Freewinds Miscavige already released his version of OT IX – Orders of Magnitude (the “name of state” for the postulated level OT IX on the current Grade Chart). Apparently, few noticed and they have been paying through the nose for it since.

David Miscavige Maiden Voyage Opening Speech June 2005:

It’s great to be back with you– aboard the Freewinds– for what will most definitely be a landmark cruise from which nothing will ever be the same again.

And yes, of that I am certain.

And since you are here, then you most certainly can “feel it.”

That torque of our engine — with a horsepower of millions.

Yes — the power has been building and it’s screaming for take-off.

So, as the first word– let’s honestly confront what we now launch with our OT Summit.

Because, since we gather to celebrate Truth Revealed — that truth is now reverberating across the planet with a Golden Age of Knowledge that will take us to eternity.

Then again — what that truth reveals is “orders of magnitude” — and it’s spelled Ideal Orgs creating effects we’ve only dreamed of.

Miscavige failed to reveal the end phenomena of his version of OT IX. The End Phenomena is bankruptcy, bad health, depression, loss of family and friends, and an unmistakable sense of betrayal.

It doesn’t have to end that way.  All one need do is wake up (a feat attainable at any level of the Scientology grade chart).

Email I sent June 24, 2011:

Sent only to my small group of dear friends who share my spiritual quest –

First, a quick review of the significant points of my Bridge:  In 1989 Flag certified me as Clear, based on a Clearing session with L. Ron Hubbard a long, long time ago.  I then trained through Level 4.  In July 1999 I had done Solo I and Solo I Certainty, and had arranged the money and time to get through OT III in Los Angeles in six months.  Instead, my Clear status was cancelled.  ASHO told me that at the time of my session with LRH he “was not Clear” and that he had “found out more about Clear after that time.”  It took several days for me to get over my grief and my outrage at the insult to LRH, but, eventually, I saw that I had no other choice.  During the next six months, my time and money were eaten up doing the entire lower Bridge under protest.  When I left, I had not yet “re-achieved” Clear, and my personality had changed drastically.

From July 1999 until June 2011 I experienced chronic depression and financial and 2-D difficulties.  In 2002 I moved to Clearwater and in my nine years there had three different short auditing cycles, in which Flag did not “crack my case” nor alleviate my crippling depression.  My auditors were either students, despite my having paid professional rates, or they and also the examiners were wooden and appeared to be scared stiff that they might do something wrong, acting as though they were being watched every minute.

I somewhat out-created my own dismal situation, managing to disconnect myself from a detrimental 2-D relationship and recovering financially, but it has been quite an ordeal spiritually, physically and emotionally to do it against invalidation, overrun, rejected F/Ns, and denial of gains – very, very painful.  I was never “myself.”

About two years ago I got the knowingness that I was either not going to make it, or not be allowed to make it, but hung in there because there was no other option and in desperation and fear that I would go into my next lifetime in this sad state of affairs, and continued to flow money to Flag for future auditing.

I also did more training, e.g., PTS-SP for the second time and about 2/3 of the Basics, finishing the fabulous PDC tapes in April of this year, shortly before moving away from Clearwater in May.

During these 12 years, my observations began to accumulate into “What’s wrong with this picture?”

  • Most of the OT 7’s I saw look like ‘death warmed over.’  Nearly all of them are experiencing serious financial difficulties, and some (an inordinate number) have engaged in 2-D or business irregularities, and/or are sick or injured.
  • Nearly every one of my close friends has been stuck around Clear for ten or more years, also defying statistical probability.
  • The announcements of newly discovered Tech did not jibe with what our beloved LRH said – that he had given us all that we needed to achieve spiritual freedom.  The guy I know from our wondrous Tech and whom I had the privilege of meeting would not have left us with incomplete or inaccurate data.  What one is then forced to conclude is that the Tech is being altered and the competence and caring for us by our hero being disrespected.
  • I observed (and experienced) that the members of the Scientology community in the Clearwater area have no life whatsoever – again, not what Ron said Scientology is for.  Instead of Scientology being used to enhance people’s lives, if we were not receiving auditing, we were training or volunteering, or working around the clock to pay for the other three.  We had no other life.
  • When the stories of enslavement, deprivation, and torture came out in the St. Petersburg Times, I defended our leadership, writing it off as Black PR and anomalies.  At some point, however, partly due to my observation of the integrity of various whistle-blowers, I was forced to conclude that where there is that much smoke, there has to be some fire.
  • Twice I was hit up for donations in Ethics cycles, where I of course felt I had no option but to donate, whether it aligned with my FP or not.
  • On a related note, often I donated or bought a product I didn’t need or already owned in order to help various staff members who were being forced to sell products and services, because I saw and heard the desperation of the staff member.
  • In spite of the fact that it did not indicate to me in the least to re-do TR’s & Objectives, I started that co-audit course last year, along with everyone else.  The little bit of auditing I received before my twin had to get the preps from hell cycle (one year long), in order for me to audit her, was good but not essential.  I had already realized that the TR’s & Objectives reg-ing was a “group C.S.,” which by definition is not a C.S.  Recently, OT’s and people desiring to get on the OT levels started filling my course room, doing HQS, and I realized that that reg-ing was the second “group C.S.”  When I had the chance to go back onto TRs & Objectives, I didn’t.
  • At Events for the last few years, I noticed the continuous, bright, flashing lights; staccato/fast urgency speech delivery; etc., and could not ignore the similarity to implant station experiences.  The one-terminal nature of the pace is so rapid-fire as to discourage participation, even that of duplicating and examining what is being presented and determining agreement or not, cogniting, etc.
  • The strong admonitions not to look at increasing negative data about the church, despite our beloved LRH having said exactly the opposite – “Look, don’t listen.”
  • The inconsistency of requiring members to disconnect from family and friends who choose life outside the church, despite Ron having cancelled the disconnect policy in RJ 68 (and I think other places as well), and my having seen Tommy Davis, the head of OSA, declare in a CNN interview that there is no disconnect policy.

I don’t claim to understand what is going on.  All I can do, in my personal integrity, is to observe, keep my own counsel, and be brave enough to know what I know.  Something is terribly wrong.  I do not have the power to change it, so I have to distance myself from it.  To this date I have deliberately not gone online to read the researched data on what has happened to our church or the testimonies of others who have chosen to continue their path to spiritual freedom outside the current organized church.  Instead, I have observed for myself, compared what I saw to the Tech, and made my own decision. When I finally did so, it was with sad acceptance that my then current painful state was it for this lifetime.  Instead, however, joy of joys, I have now located highly trained followers of LRH who will help me on the path I enthusiastically entered in 1984 and was knocked off in 1999, then continuously deterred from until now.

I am so happy to share with you the news that this week my Clear status was verified and I resumed my OT Preps, before I start Solo-ing.  As I write this I have a big persistent F/N-smile on my face!

And to each of you, my friends, I wish you success and serenity on your personal path.

With much love,

Rosalie Hamilton

July 1, 2011 I emailed the following P.S. to the same friends:

I can’t say I’m pleased, but at least I now have a better understanding  As I indicated in my earlier email, I made my decision to disconnect from the current church organization based solely on my own personal observations and experiences.  Just this week I have gone online and read  data that explains the reasons for and source of the outnesses I saw for myself, and, unfortunately, my experiences and my many feelings of “What’s wrong with this picture” all make sense now.  Many of the people who have left the church during the last 20+ years are highly trained Sea Org and other org staff who know the Tech, so they recognized that it has been and is being altered, and have made public exactly how that is.

It appears that the Scientologists dedicated to keeping the Tech pure as LRH gave it to us consider themselves “Independents.”  Ron trained auditors to then go home and independently audit people, and that is what they are doing, all over the country.

As I am not in a position to put in the needed Ethics on the outnesses in the church, my objective is simply to avail myself and others of the Tech Ron left us, unadulterated.  My postulate is that the evil that results in people being denied gains and otherwise being deprived of freedom and happiness will burn itself out and the church will again be faithful to LRH.

With much love,

Rosalie Hamilton

Ron Ubaghs on The Not So Ideal Org

After eleven years out of the church, my son brought me back into the Seattle org in 2003. I had several amazing years to follow. But by the Summer of 2007, I began to see things going wrong. Fewer people in the courseroom, more pressure to donate to more things, all events ending in fundraising, students trying to avoid regging on their way to course, apparently “awesome” cycles such as completeing The Basics (adding months or years to Auditor training), repeated false promises about the opening date of the new Ideal Org, high-pressure recruiting sessions to join staff with “ethics” overtones, and more.

Well, it all finally came to a head this Spring. I had said to myself I would give
the new Ideal Org roughly half a year or so to begin displaying what had been so heavily promised. After about eight long months, I could see things weren’t getting any better. In fact, it was just the opposite. Early on, I had asked about a few outpoints I’d observed:

Is there a place to store my course materials? Is there a refrigerator to keep my lunch in? Is there a place to sit and eat? Is there a place for food-service during events? The answers were all “no”. Each person I asked had some temporary solution, but no one ever said “No, but that is something we will be correcting.”

Eight months after the grand opening, I was ready to deliver M-1 to my twin. Upon requesting a space in which to store my student materials (including my meter), I was told “No, you’re supposed to bring them in with you each day”. I communicated that I often had to park literally blocks away from the org due to the extremely insufficiant parking allotted for the new facilities (mostly being used by staff), and often in the rain (it being Seattle). I’m also 74 years old, with a bum knee. The org, being located amongst a few rather steep hills didn’t help things either. I was informed there might be a place in one of the storerooms on the fifth floor, near the Purif area, where I might store all my materials. I was invited to head up there and check it out.

Oftentimes the two or three, or maybe even four of us in the Public Theory Courseroom on the second floor, wouldn’t have a Supervisor, and a note would be posted at the entrance, telling us to head up to the Academy on the fourth floor for the afternoon. This was actually okay with me, as it meant I would actually be allowed to interact with other students once again, giving star rate checkouts, running drills, word-clearing, etc. But the Sups in the Academy seemed to have different ideas from one another about how the HDA course I was on should be run, and a lot of time was wasted figuring things out there. I’m sorry to report that they never did figure out whether I needed to be supervised while giving Book One sessions as part of the course, or if I could independently audit “walk-ins” down at the Testing Center, a mile and a half away.

Adding insult to injury, an SO member sat me down and personally guaranteed
that he could get me completed on the course by the time of the next event that coming weekend. Seeing as how I still had a lot of auditing steps to accomplish, and very little available course time between that time and said event, I’m saddened to say that this individual was apparently more than ready and willing to quickie me through to get the stat. NOT what I signed up for!

All the while, I watched with my own eyes, as the org literally became emptier and emptier, most courserooms not even being used, other than for off-purpose reasons like acting as temporary daycare. I distinctly observed the individuals I’d known for years becoming less friendly or amiable. Not at all what had been promised for the new org. Staff and SO alike, people I knew and had spoken with in spirited conversation on a regular basis, were visibly going down tone. Losing their native enthusiasm. Now mocking-up “ARC” rather than living it. The 800lb gorilla was in the org. The place was dead.

Just then, my own son, Bryan, was “declared”, mainly for expressing too much counter-intention to all the above and perhaps daring to question upper management and “command intention”, not to mention associating with others who had done the same. Bryan had not received a comm ev. He had never been sent his own goldenrod. He had not been given a chance to defend himself after twenty years of dedication and standing up for LRH and Scientology.

When I was finally pulled into “ethics”, the team there attempted to brief me on the disconnection policy. I simply said there was absolutely no way that that could possibly work for my family. I would not be disconnecting from my own son!

Ron and Bryan Ubaghs in the 70's

Thus, I was informed I would be declared PTS and would no longer be eligible for services. I told them “Good! I really need a long break from this place”. And out the door I went.

I really love and miss many of the wonderful people I have worked with over
the past eight years at the Seattle org. But, lately I had found it increasingly difficult to simply have an open, friendly conversation without touching on something that is so obvious and yet seems only to cause unintended “enturbulation”. When I think of the following LRH writing, I can only hope that many more people will eventually look and see what is really happening.

WE OF THE CHURCH BELIEVE…

That all men have inalienable rights to think freely, to talk freely, to write
freely their own opinions and to counter or utter or write upon the
opinions of others…

And that no agency less than God has the power to suspend or set aside these
rights, overtly or covertly.

-The Creed of the Church of Scientology, 1954

It seems that somebody has been playing God, and that thinking and talking freely now only gets you a trip to the Ethics officer.  How sad!

Hopefully,

Ron Ubaghs

Ziba Feulner – Independent OT VIII

I am a Scientologist, and I know that LRH’s technology works 100%
if applied correctly. I started my journey in Scientology in
1988 in Germany, and over the years I have learned a great deal: I
am a trained auditor – Class 5 Graduate, FPRD, HRD. As a trained
Auditor I have delivered several thousands of hours of auditing to
others. I am also a trained supervisor. Additionally, I have done
many courses to learn about Scientology Ethics and Administrative
Technology. Furthermore, I have gone up the bridge to OT8 (I have
attested to OT8 in 2007).

In recent times I have come to understand that many parts of
Scientology technology is no longer being applied in a standard
manner. I have also observed that worldwide Scientology statistics
are downtrending with Scientology organizations not expanding.
Furthermore, I have observed that prices for auditing and training
in Scientology are exorbitantly high so that only a small
percentage of people are able to go up the bridge and experience
the wins LRH had intended for them. Being that I am trained in
LRH’s PTS/SP technology, I know that these circumstances are not
mere chance but purposely made to be so by a suppressive person; I
firmly believe that this suppressive person is the self-appointed
dictator of the Church of Scientology: David Miscavige.
In the last three years I have conducted extensive research.

Although you may have been driven to silence, by means of
suppressive intimidation by the Cof$, I highly recommend that you
conduct your own personal research to come to the truth, without
leaving SCIENTOLOGY. Below you will find some websites that you can
visit to learn more. My research made clear to me that David
Miscavige is a Suppressive Person. By methods of intimidation,
false propaganda, and general suppression Miscavige uses his
position to eliminate the application of standard LRH technology
and stops Scientologists from going up the Bridge to total Freedom.
Following are some factors to think about:

Over the years I have visited many organizations and as per my
observations these orgs were struggling and not expanding at all,
although the many Miscavige propaganda events falsely try to
convince you otherwise. Scientology organizations are not expanding
because people are purposely held back to go up the bridge:
Scientologists are harassed into donating for all kinds of things
BUT the bridge: the IAS, Super Power projects, Planetary
Dissemination, or for ever-changing LRH books (They are now being
“corrected” for the fifth time to FORCE public to buy them again).
Miscavige’s newest invention to extract money from Scientologists:
“Ideal Orgs”. As a trained EstO, I understand that LRH advises
against “Having to have before one can do”; however, Miscavige
convinced Scientologists that we need posh palace-like org
buildings in order to be able to expand Scientology organizations.
Miscavige’s largest money making machine – the IAS – has gathered
hundreds of millions of dollars from Scientologists over the past
decades; so, if posh buildings are the answer to org expansion why
are those millions of dollars not being used to purchase these
buildings? Why are Scientologists being forced into further large
donations for “their ideal orgs”? However, what are those millions
of $$ used for? Here some interesting links:
http://www.tampabay.com/specials/2009/reports/project/scobee.shtml,

lifestyles-of-the-rich-and-famous/

Another example of stopping Scientologists going up the Bridge and
to deprive them of even more money is the inventions of Bridge
steps that have to be “re-done because we found another LRH
reference.” Furthermore, the invention of “the Golden Age of Tech”
which is a method to learn LRH’s tech verbatim is a means to force
auditors to re-do their prior training “because the old training
was no good.” They of course have to pay for their entire training
again. Golden Age of Tech is a direct violation of LRH’s study
technology and against the way LRH trained auditors: LRH never
wanted you to learn the tech verbatim but instead to achieve conceptual
understanding by applying standard study technology. And by the
way, “the new idea”: “Golden Age of Tech” has not produced any
expansion of Scientology as it was promised by Miscavige.

– For the general public Scientology has become a controversial
subject at best – however, it holds truer to say that Scientology
is being viewed rather as a cult, avoided and detested. LRH writes
in KSW Series 1, “Trouble spots occur only where there are “no
results”. Attacks from governments or monopolies occur only where
there are “no results” or “bad results”.

– Miscavige uses LRH’s Ethics and Justice Technology in a
suppressive manner to silence critics. Scientologists who question
rather unquestionable matters within the church are “handled” with
harsh ethics or even justice. Scientologists such as highly trained
OTs and Church executives who are trying to uncover Miscavige
crimes are being falsely declared suppressive persons in order to
force their families and friends to disconnect from them (see below
websites). The Gestapo-like ethics and justice machinery of
Miscavige cull these people’s PC folders for overts revealed in
confidential sessions and publish them on SP Declares; examples
are Mark Rathbun or Mike Rinder. What other church does this? Would
LRH do something like that? NO, he would NOT! In this context
whatever happened to these highly ranked Sea Org members who had
dedicated their lives to fulfill LRH’s mission and worked for
decades within the CofS: Mr. Mark Rathbun (former RTC executive),
Mr. Mike Rinder (former Office of Special affairs executive), Ms.
Amy Scobee (WDC executive); these executives after having
recognized D. Miscavige as an SP have left the church (NOT
Scientology). And most of all: Where is Mr. Heber Jentzsch, one of
our most favorite leaders in Scientology? What has Miscavige done
to him?? Read here:
https://markrathbun.wordpress.com/2010/04/04/free-heber/

– An increasing number of credible victims and witnesses report
physical beatings and mental abuse of Sea Org members and
executives conducted by David Miscavige. He even has a prison
called “the hole” where he imprisons staff for weeks, months, or
even years at a time. Mr. Mark Rathbun reports, “Miscavige’s abuse
of Scientology executives and staff became so extreme and
continuous, he resorted to locking all of CMO INT and Exec Strata
into a building and called the prison “the Hole.” RTC, CMO/WDC,
Gold, IAS, CST, OSA Int and ASI executives and staff have regularly
been deposited in the Hole and subjected to Reverse Dianetics,
including physical beatings and severe mental abuse for months or
even years at a time, (Mark Rathbun, 2009).”

– Suppression of OTs: Here I will quote Mr. Mark Rathbun,
“Miscavige has turned the top end of the Bridge into a dead end:
First, he has programmed the Advanced Organizations, including the
FSO, to regularly security check pre-O.T.s, and then use their
confessions to coerce them into paying more money for atonement, a
practice not unlike the Medieval Catholic Church selling
indulgences. Second, he has imposed an unwritten code of behavior
amongst O.T.s. They are regularly made to conform to correct dress,
language, political thought, and even ideas as to how to use their
personal time. Said practice is anathema to the very purpose of
Scientology, which is to make a person more his- or herself, more
insouciant and independent thinking. Third, Miscavige has entered
arbitrary “contribution as a Scientologist” requirements mid-levels
which can be satisfied by making cash “donations.” Fourth,
Miscavige requires pre-OTs to attend his regular propaganda events
(see Factors 22 and 23) and are treated as ethics bait until they
enthusiastically embrace his projected public image. This enforced
acceptance of falsehood makes attainment of OT technically
impossible. Thus, Scientology, as practiced in Miscavige’s orgs, is
auditing one toward conformity, solidity, lies; in other words,
down the tone scale, or, the precise opposite direction to the
intended aim of auditing, (Mark Rathbun, 2009).”
There are many other indicators – bad indicators within the Church
of Miscavige; if you are interested to know the website to visit

With the above being declared, I would like you to know, my dear
friend that I no longer can agree with the practices of the current
Church of Scientology and that I hereby resign from this church. On
a positive note: I will remain a Scientologist and apply Ron’s
technology independently from the current Church of Scientology.
Let me also advise you to do your own research and to disconnect
from this suppression as soon as possible. You will experience a
resurgence of power, happiness, and expansion. Additionally, let me
tell you that there are many decent Scientologists in the field
continuing to apply the technology independently of the CofS; among
these people are OTs, highly trained auditors, and ex-sea org
executives. If you are worried for your bridge progress once you
have left the current Church of Scientology: Do NOT worry in any
way. There is help – better help and standard technology outside of
the suppressive Church of Scientology. Knowing the suppressive
methods of this church they will publish an SP Declare for me
sooner or later; at that time you may be forced and intimidated
into disconnecting from me; if you do so I will respect your
decision. However, if you decide to do your own research and free
yourself from this hidden source of suppression I will be very
happy for you, my friend.

PDC TAPE 20 “FORMATIVE STATE OF SCIENTOLOGY, DEFINITON OF LOGIC”.
“It (Scientology) is not in itself an arbitrary, Fascistic police
force to make sure that we all think right thoughts. It’s a servant
of the mind, a servo-mechanism of the mind. It is not a master of
the mind. Scientology will decline and become useless to man on the
day when it becomes the master of thinking. Don’t think it won’t do
that. It has every capability in it of doing that. Contained in the
knowable, workable portions before your eyes, there are methods of
controlling human beings and thetans which have never before been
dreamed of in this universe. Control mechanisms of such awesome and
solid proportions, that if the remedies were not so much easier to
apply, one would be appalled at the dangerousness to beingness that
exists in Scientology.”

OSA stands for Office of Special Affairs.  OSA is the Stasi-like intelligence network of the cult of Miscavige (formerly known as Scientology).

D/CO OSA WUS means Deputy Commanding Officer of the Office of Special Affairs over all cult of Miscavige units west of the Mississippi river.

Pam, D/CO WUS, has kindly provided us with a list of all Scientologists in the WUS whom OSA considers don’t march quite lock step enough to Miscavige’s liking.  You’ll see some familiar names.  The other couple hundred? How many of them you reckon think they are alone, down and out for not guzzling kool aid with the very best Miscavige cult set?   Feel free to let them know they are not alone, they don’t need to be down, and that being “out” is a whole heck of a lot cooler and more comfortable than being “in.”

The list:

Party-Poopers

If Dave Miscavige spent a fraction of what he currently is spending attempting to draw blood from me, Mike, Tiziano and Jason instead on mending his cult’s wounds he might have a snowball’s chance in hell to staunch is own bleeding.

He’s got a full blown Exodus on his hands.

Father’s Day With Joy Graysen

This has been a long time coming. A lonnnnnng time coming. I have been heartily “out of the closet” since Michael Fairman was descended upon  by the undead, but I hadn’t figured out where to begin to unfold my story – so I procrastinated.

After meeting with Marty and Mike a few Tuesdays ago here in L.A., witnessing the keystone-cop-esque ABSURDITY (to be kind) of “the squirrel-buster” brigade and after being part of the conversation which encouraged Michael to write his latest post, I decided I had done enough procrastinating.

My name is Joy Graysen. Some of you know me as Joy Stimmel, Joy Veikley, Joy Fairman, Michael’s wife, Sky’s mother. Some of you know me as the voice of Flag’s anthem “Flag Is Here”. Some of you know me from all of the church events I have sung for over the last 25 years. And some of you don’t know me at all. After this open letter, hopefully you will just know me as Joy — one of you.

In 1983 I came home from my first year of college, very disillusioned with education. I complained to my father, Sam, my soulmate, that I was disgusted. Why could we get a man to the moon, but we couldn’t communicate to the person sitting in front of us?  He told me about a  man named L. Ron Hubbard,  who had created a magnificent body of work that might help me with my dilemma. (My Mom and Dad had become Scientologists the late 60’s, for a brief time)

I was astonished to find that everything I had been lamenting was covered, explained and handled in Scientology.

I found a  philosophy and a group of people that believed what I believed – that we all have within us, infinite wisdom, infinite compassion and infinite potential.

I found a group that supported and encouraged critical thinking, individuality, granting of beingness and the divine right to BE who WE are – each one of us.  It was OK to question what didn’t make sense, and we were taught to disagree with the “apparencies” of the world around us.

I found a group that nurtured our inherent nature to be kind and powerful at the same time.  A group that taught us to help others by helping them to become their true selves.

I signed up because I saw the truth everywhere I looked. Possibly for the first time in my life. I felt like I was finally home after an endless journey. I could cry now, remembering the relief I felt at that time in my life.

So I wound up on the “Bridge” in NYC.

As I became more and more familiar with Ron’s legacy, my admiration for him kept expanding. I couldn’t believe how much knowledge he had assembled and given us to understand and apply.

He created the technology of the mind and the spirit with Dianetics and Scientology to help us free ourselves from the suppressive booby-traps of life and our experiences.

He created the “Ethics Technology” to help us get out of our own way so we could take full advantage of the “tech”.

He created an organizing system to improve the management of our lives and careers; and in addition, set up a stalwart system of checks and balances so that his body of work could not be corrupted by external or internal influences. He created the Organizing or Org Board which helped ensure that KSW (a policy called Keeping Scientology Working) is always applied and everything operates smoothly according to his policies.

In my mind, the structure of this Org Board was a given. That’s how the church operated,  and on every level, whether  a mission, an org or upper management, this was simply how it worked. and I trusted that this was kept “in”. I never questioned that it was being followed. Scientologists were ethical, especially the Sea Org staff members; ESPECIALLY the upper, upper level management Sea Org staff members in RTC.

These were the reasons I chose to trust the group and to seek enlightenment from Scientology.

And so began my 25 year journey. I became “drunk” with the euphoria that comes with falling in love. I was in love with the endless possibilities of freedom. I was in love with the colors around me which seemed brighter. I was in love with the exhilaration of actually being listened to, being duplicated and, (who knew) being acknowledged! It was a whole new  world and a world I had been seeking forever.

Three years later, in 1986, my daddy, the man who taught me kindness, who taught me how to sing in three part harmony, play the piano, guitar and ukulele by ear, all before I was 3 years old, the man who gave me my sense of humor and who introduced me to Scientology, died of a heart attack just before his 45th birthday.

This sweet man, who never once in my life let me down (with the exception of the time he tricked me into surrendering my blankey) left me without saying goodbye.

I wasn’t mad at him. But I did feel as though I had fallen down into the deepest, blackest hole there ever was in the history of any universe, and that no matter what happened from then on, I would always be living my life looking up from the bottom of that hole.

When I arrived at Celebrity Center NY for a session, I was numb and brittle and scarred to the center of my being. I knew that I would always feel this way but that Sam would have wanted me to have a session, so…

I emerged from my auditing room one hour later feeling like I could actually ‘have’ the loss.  This was a true miracle. I would never have believed this could be the result of just a single  hour of auditing. It still defies logic when I recall the magnitude of my loss at the time. But if there were ever a testament to the validity of LRH’s tech, for me that was it a million times over.

(blogger note: please take a moment to listen to Joy’s song written for her father Sam 08_Burning_Flame_(a_song_for_Sam))

So THIS was why I got into Scientology and THIS is how the tech was supposed to be delivered!

From that point in my life I was able to ‘have’ things more easily – good and bad. I guess  because I was willing to accept  their contribution to me and mine to them, regardless of whether I liked it or not. I was able to ‘have’ situations for what they were, with less protest than before; but I would still fight for what I wanted or what was right. I felt more able than before because I felt more grounded in present time.

In 1989, I moved to Los Angeles to be near CC Int  and immersed myself in the group.  I lived across the street from CC, and associated mostly with other Scientologists. I felt safe knowing that we all shared the same knowledge of ethics and ARC, and were all learning to understand ourselves and each other spiritually.

In 1993 I married Michael Fairman, and that summer we arrived at Flag for his OT VI and VII.  With inheritance my father left me, I decided to do “L 11”

We were trying to have a baby at that time and had been waiting months for the right biological “window”. Michael had to CSW his course supervisor, Antonino, for permission to, as he put it,  “make a baby”. Luckily  Antonino was from Italy or we might not have been granted “time off from course” for baby making! Although it is a funny story to tell, it is a poignant example of how the church controlled even the most intimate of moments in our lives.

We returned to L.A. with a bun, named Sky, in the oven. Yay.

Also during that summer,  I called my sister in Italy for weeks, attempting to get her to Flag. She eventually arrived and bought her Bridge to OT VIII. Her  inheritance of $89,000, which she used  for the package, eventually got her only to Clear.

I think one of the true turning points for both Michael and me was the event releasing the Volunteer Minister Course (remember the accompanying yellow back pack?). It was at The Shrine Auditorium. As we left the actual event, on our way to the giant Expo Hall, we were bombarded by literally walls of Sea Org members forming a human chain. Their patter to us was, “cash or credit?” No “hi, how are you, how’d you like the event?”; just “cash or credit, cash or credit, cash or credit”. They were selling the backpack with the new book in it. Michael and I looked at each other in disbelief. The basic fundamentals of Scientology were being ignored- hell- obliterated. There was no comm formula, no ARC triangle, no TRs, just an enforced hard-sell tactic. We were extremely annoyed by this. It was a violation of the most basic of basic sales techniques, never mind Scientology precepts. This was simply enforced reality, enforced communication and enforced affinity. Not a good cocktail.

Somehow we managed to work our way through the Expo Hall to escape. When we got outside, we both remarked that this patter had to have come from up-lines. It couldn’t have been a coincidence that every staff member had this exact same patter. We became unsettled by the idea that this command must have come from David Miscavige and we couldn’t reconcile the utter “outness” of it.

Similarly, when Tom Cruise won his Freedom Medal Award, we couldn’t understand how Miscavige could allow the video of Cruise to be broadcast at that major event. The actor seemed so hyper and on the edge of losing control. It also seemed very odd that he was not adequately hatted by Church officials — witness PR blunders of jumping up and down on Oprah’s  couch, and  his embarrassing attack of Brooke Shields and Matt Lauer in regard to psych drugs. Regardless of the fact that psych drugs are harmful, it seemed wildly out- PR  in the way he handled it.

Then  came the release of the “The Basics” That just seemed ludicrous, implausible and contrived from the moment we heard it. That’s when we really started to feel that cold feeling creeping up the back of our necks…

How could LRH, a man, who was infinitely meticulous, overlook all the basic books??? He never once checked or realized there were all of these errors in translation? Gross errors? “The blind leading the blind” as David Miscavige so eloquently put it… This signified to us that not only was the church trying to come up with new ways of making money, but that they were covertly admitting to actively and OVERTLY altering the tech!!

This was the beginning of my awareness that the miracles of LRH that I mentioned earlier, would be forfeited. And, as I later learned from tech terminals more highly trained than I, that was exactly what was happening.

During  that book-selling campaign, we were bombarded by enforced reality after enforced reality regarding buying them, training on them, buying them for others, buying them for Orgs and Missions, buying them for other countries, donating so translations could be made into other languages, buying for your dog, cat, gerbil and goldfish… I mean come onnnn…

So we started distancing ourselves, slowly but surely from the church. We talked about our observations to each other but were careful not to discuss our concerns with any other Scientologists – lest we “spread entheta” or were “critical” of the church…No, no, no…we know what THAT would mean! We did eventually to a select few, who we thought were safe terminals. We later found out otherwise.

And then there is the “Ideal Org” campaign!!! OY VEY!! Could THIS be any more contrary to what LRH wanted? And at the very least, makes no business sense.

It seemed there was no end to the request for donations. I even saw a promo recently advertising that the church would accept people’s gold teeth towards donations…Ummmm…?

In 2009, Paul Haggis’ letter of resignation was made public and Michael read it. He had met  Paul and was friends with his wife Deborah, so he was very stricken by the letter’ s content. One of Paul’s major upsets with the church was, as he saw it, an intolerance of homosexuality. I myself had witnessed countless examples of Scientologists rolling their eyes in regard to someone who was gay, or the generality that all gays are covertly hostile.

And now here is the crux of MY personal crossroads in regards to the current church. More and more I felt like I had to withhold myself from my so called friends. Not because I had  committed overts but because I felt a growing distance between my core beingness, my values, and these group members.

I started to notice an extreme lack of tolerance. I observed an arrogance and a ‘holier than thou’  point of view towards anyone who was not a Scientologist. My “friends” would have a “no sympathy” attitude towards homeless people, homosexuals, as I mentioned, and really anything remotely liberal minded. I thought compassion and understanding were at the core of Scientology’s values.

I remember Michael having a conversation with an OT VIII where Michael asked why shouldn’t Scientology be available to everyone, not just the rich people, and the response was “Scientology is for the able, they’ll just have to be left behind”.

I felt that I had to “good roads, and good weather” my friends and family more and more. I was no longer free to just be myself and talk about things that were important to me because if I gave money or food to a homeless person, or if I had gay friends or if I believed that healthcare is vital for everybody, that I would be scorned.

The main reason I embraced Scientology, as I outlined at the beginning of this letter, was disappearing. I no longer felt safe or comfortable within the group because the granting of beingness on many dynamics seemed to be withering away.

I believed that as we evolved, as we became more and more ourselves, as we mastered our understanding of the tone scale, the more our ARC for humanity would grow. As far as I am concerned, we would have MORE tolerance, understanding and compassion, not less. Regardless of any political inclination, we should have more heart, more generosity. I personally found this ‘group think’ to be getting more and more prevalent.

And don’t get me started on the utter snobbery of the Scn celebrities. Aside from a very select few, their arrogance towards people who weren’t in the ‘upper, upper President’s office circle’ was laughable. Nowhere in Hollywood, outside of our church, did I experience such blatant self-importance and nonsense. Michael has been acting for close to 50 years and I have been to my fair share of Hollywood events with major celebrities. They never acted like our celebrities did.

Sooo, at that point, I began confronting what I had suspected for a long while – there was something very wrong at the top of the Org Board. There were just too many uniform negative behaviors within the group. Again, it could not have simply been a coincidence.

And so I began reading the blogs and meeting with people who had personally experienced some of the most horrific atrocities perpetrated at the highest levels of Church management.

One such meeting lasted for more than 5 hours, where I sat, with my mouth hanging open, trying not to vomit or pass out.  No one was that good an actor. No one could have made up the details of the story I heard. Hopefully, one day soon you will learn of that particular incident.

Then we started meeting more people who had left the church. Some had similar horror stories. Some had terrible experiences of disconnection by their immediate family members. Some had been physically injured, others mentally, and all spiritually.

Where is executive oversight? It appears , from countless reports, that Miscavige runs the whole show, with no one but his sycophants following him around, doing his bidding.

There are FAR too many reports, eye witness accounts, broken families and unanswered questions for all this to be manufactured by a group of “SP’s” as Church spokespeople continue to affirm. And a large majority of these reports have come from people who devoted 20, 30, 40 years or more of their lives to Scientology, many ex-Sea Org, many who personally worked with LRH. Am I supposed to believe that these people have anything to gain from making up such heinous lies? Pu-leeeease!

At that point we had decided to unofficially leave the Church. I had gotten Michael’s agreement that we would stay under the radar because I love my sister and my nieces very much and I didn’t want to jeopardize my relationship with them.

By this time, Michael and I had already met Marty Rathbun and Michael traveled to Texas to get some auditing. The week after he returned, my sister, who has been auditing on OT VII,  arrived in LA for work, and I decided to tell her some of what I had learned. I wanted to ease her in to the reality I had come to learn over a period of time – to “test the water” with her. She was shocked and clearly shaken and upset with me for bringing this up. She then disappeared for two days with no communication.

When I finally did hear from her she said she wanted to discuss what we talked about. So we got together and it was obvious she had been coached to “handle” me.

She told me I owed it to myself and to the church to go into CC and get the other side of the story. I was reluctant to do this as I knew I would be opening Pandora’s Box by alerting the church of my disaffection but she insisted that it would mean so much to her if I could just do that. I explained to her that it would probably make things worse but she said to me “I guarantee that if you are not convinced, Jenny Butler promised me you could just walk away and you would not be harassed” (Jenny Butler is CC Int President’s office staff).

Michael and I arrived at CC and  needless to say, I never got to speak to Jenny,  because when I arrived, two OSA officers were waiting for us. I refused to speak with them.

Right after this, Tommy Davis, Mike Sutter and one of Michael’s oldest friends, Lee Kessler arrived at Michael’s doorstep with goldenrod in tow and his “adventure” began in earnest. (The details are in Michael’s resignation letter to be found on Marty’s blog) Kessler set up this meeting with Michael on the false pretenses that they were going to discuss a script…

That night, my sister sent me a scathing voicemail stating that she heard what Michael had done,  and that I had better make sure that he goes in to the church and fix it. I was too furious to call her back so sent her a long text, explaining how they surveilled him, lied to him, threatened him, and harassed him. THIS is the church you’re defending?” I asked her. THIS is the church that’s going to save mankind??” I sent her several texts explaining the situation, trying to tell her what was really going on and then discovered that she had immediately forwarded my personal texts to OSA and Tommy Davis.

I then  sent a long email to my sister after that and one to my mother, to again try and explain the situation.

What follows are excerpts from the letter I got back:

“It is my power of choice to communicate with whom I wish – no-one decides this for me – I decide for myself…”

She lists several LRH references on Suppression and Suppressive Acts, and then quotes from a piece LRH wrote in 1964 countering an article written in the Saturday Evening Post that same year: “This “article”. LRH wrote, “is a rather clumsy effort to discredit the leader of a movement by direct personal attack…”

Neither Michael, I, Marty, Mike, nor the overwhelming majority in the Independent movement have EVER attacked LRH personally. So it’s obvious she means Miscavige who is under attack. LRH continued, “…By misquotes and inferences, statements out of context and avoiding all actual values, they seek to kill confidence and therefore the movement…” End LRH quote

Now my sister does an A=A=A: “You and Michael are trying to stop my Church, my beliefs, my life. I do not take your inclination in this direction lightly. You are both against LRH by connecting up with a squirrel and a declared SP who is making a weak fruitlessly feeble attack – it is one neither he nor you will ever win at, as Mommy pointed out to you months ago. Everything you are doing is in complete contravention with Scientology and LRH policies.”

She continues with the personal attack on Marty, Michael and myself and justifies the intervention at Michael’s. And there were additional vicious comments.. The e-mail doesn’t even sound like her. There are words in it I know she has never used before in her life. All too pathetic. She and my mother have both disconnected from me.

Once Michael’s letter on Marty’s blog went out, within 24 hours, over 100 Scientologist “friends” unfriended me on Facebook. Only two asked any questions of me whatsoever. Many of these were people I’ve known for over 20 years. Apparently JoJo Zawawi, a covert OSA operative, contacted all of my Scn FB “friends” and told them to unfriend me.

Then I found out that the DSA of CCI was calling my friends and students (I am a vocal coach) into ethics and showing my goldenrod declare, and telling them they are not allowed to associate with me anymore. One such student was having so many wins that we would both cry after each voice lesson because she handled so many barriers that neither of us could believe it!

Here is an excerpt from a success story from her…

“In about a month after learning the basics of Joy’s special vocal technique I discovered that ever since I started with Joy my throat has never hurt any more (so I cancelled my Dr’s Appointment as there was nothing to complain about)”

“…I have only been working with Joy for a few months, I cannot imagine what can be achieved in a year, she is just so absolutely amazing and fabulous. I believe she can help any singer to achieve their true potential.”

And then excerpts from her disconnection letter:

“I was asked to go in Ethics today at CC and read the declare on you as CC knew you were my teacher”

…I am very upset that I cannot continue working with you, I really love you and hope this gets handles in one way or another and I can come back to you. I am very sad to lose you as my teacher and my mentor as you have done so much for me…”

…The church does not allow me to continue being connected with you, and I am sure you understand. Even though we are taken apart for the time being, I still have nothing but respect and admiration for you as a being and nothing (not even a declare) can take that away…”

This was one of many students who are now no longer able to work with me as a result of this covert, black PR campaign against me. As a result I have lost a great deal of my income, not to mention my heart.

It would be very easy to be angry and hateful towards the loyal followers of DM’s church who have turned their backs on us, the truth is I feel very, very sorry for them.

Despite the arrogant valence of rightness most of them are stuck in, they are, in actuality, poor, duped victims, whose original intention was to dedicate their lives to helping their fellow man. By their own misguided trust and blind faith, they have allowed themselves to be manipulated so thoroughly, they can’t see that the Church they are fighting for is what is eating them alive.  They are not helping mankind – they are sinking into unconsciousness; unaware of the criminally false statistics, abuses, mind control and theft that are being perpetrated on mankind. And so they are contributing to it, unknowingly.

There is a line in one of my original songs, ‘Moth To A Flame’,  which states,

“Through your seductive smoke, I can finally see,

The darkness I tried to escape was the shadow you cast over me.”

I believe David Miscavige has cast  his degraded shadow over  LRH and it is my job to do what I can to expose that.

We, who have endured the pain of disconnection and loss and harassment are the lucky ones. We have superficial wounds. We have retained our clarity, our integrity and our eternity. They have forsaken theirs by refusing to see. We must continue to tell the truth here so that somehow, they might read one of our posts and walk back into the light.

I consider myself infinitely fortunate to have had the clarity, for whatever reason, to see the church for what it is, not what it used to be nor what I wish it was. The confront it takes to be willing to “have” that reality is what I believe LRH really wanted us take from his teachings.

Until this letter, I have made no official public declarations of my resignation. I was never shown a single KR (knowledge report), never offered a Com-Ev (Committee Of Evidence) was never officially contacted regarding my disaffection nor was I shown my Golden-rod Suppressive Declare Order. I was simply and covertly declared a suppressive person. This occurred long before I became as outspoken and aggressive as I am now.

After I started losing my friends, family, clients and business associates I became very vocal about my disgust, but I still had not put it in writing.

Well…HERE IT IS IN  WRITING!!! BAAAMMM!! Take THAT David Miscavige.

Love to ALL

Joy

P.S.

I came into Scientology because I imagined a better world. I would like to believe we all came into Scientology for that reason. To end my declaration, I would like to share with you my version of John Lennon’s “Imagine”
