What Is Wrong With Scientology?

Hy Levy is in the Hereafter

Hy Levy passed away in his sleep last night.   A couple weeks earlier he told Mosey and me that this was just the manner in which he wished to pass. He died of complications caused by cancer.   Hy was diagnosed late last year.  He chose not to fight it.

Hy felt blessed to have friends like Pat Shannon, Carol Kramer, Laura and Mike Wilson and his brothers and sister-in-law.  They went out of their way to try to convince and facilitate Hy to fight the cancer.  When Hy made it clear that that did not align with his intentions, those friends did everything they could to support him, comfort him and buoy Hy’s spirits.

Hy particularly loved being Jewish-mothered (his words) by Pat, Carol, and Mosey.  He even took to calling Mosey “Sophie” when he wanted to let her know he noticed the extra care.

We were honored and blessed to host Hy for nearly the entire month of April.   Hy worked with me for a few days on rehabilitating his confidence on exteriorizing from the body.  Once he felt comfortable with that all he wanted to do was enjoy himself.  Hy considered Casablanca was his Shangri-La, he sent us a copy of Capra’s original 1937 Lost Horizon so we would fully understand the significance to him.  He just wanted to be here, sleep when he wanted, get up when he wanted, sit by the canal in the sun or shade scratching Chiquita’s belly and having long calls with Pat or Carol or his family members, taking long drives with me and talking about the hereafter, but most of all getting fussed over by Mosey.   Hy’s favorite song was Live Like You Were Dying.  It inspired him to make up a bucket list for his last couple weeks here. It wasn’t as dramatic or adventurous as in the movie by the same title, but it was what Hy wanted.  Thanks to the saint-like support of Laura and Mike Wilson and Mike Laws and Yvonne Schick, Mosey and I to were able to help Hy accomplish his bucket list to his satisfaction.

Hy chilling to Jimmy Buffett on a sunset cruise

Hy wanted to stay, but felt he needed to get back to spend time with his family and have a proper Jewish funeral.  That was carried out early this afternoon.

Hy did a lot of good for a lot people.

He was from the old school of Scientology registration.  Sure, he had to make his money quotas. But, Hy was concerned with doing whatever he could to facilitate people to move up the Bridge.  As Scientology Inc became increasingly commercial and greedy in it is registration practices, Hy Levy found himself getting into trouble for helping Scientologists navigate around the crush, hard-sell pressure to give up their homes and retirements funds.  The last ‘crime’ Hy Levy was punished for in corporate Scientology was helping a person to reverse a transaction that Scientology Inc had performed on that person’s account without the individual’s consent.   Hy had to stick his neck out to undo larceny committed by Scientology Inc on its own public. Shortly after Hy parted ways with the corporation.

All Hy really wanted to do was to prove to himself he could catch up with the computer programming profession he had left for more than twenty years, and make enough money to enjoy the simplicity of freedom.   Hy accomplished that with flying colors.

Hy could have left it at that.  But, Hy cared about people.  He cared about Scientology being hijacked and used to harm rather than help people.   To speak out would be tantamount to forfeiting the quiet simplicity he longed for and attained.  Against his own self interest, Hy stood up and spoke out loud.  He exposed the Scientology Inc. money machine,  see Tampa Times The Money Machine.  By doing so, Hy saved a lot of people from facing financial ruination at the the hands of corporate Scientology.

Hy will always be a hero in my book.

He will always be our friend.

We love you Hy Levy.

David Miscavige Violates Tom Cruise’s Confessional

You Were Put On Notice in August 2009

Your Good Name Was Invoked in the Worst Kind Of Bullying

Tom,

As the recent email cycle below between a National Enquirer ‘journalist’ and myself clearly demonstrates, you have nothing to fear from me or the independent Scientologist community.  As a matter of well-demonstrated fact, we have your back.  As the referenced posts above clearly demonstrate you have every reason to continue to distance yourself from Miscavige (any perceived ‘leadership’ abilities notwithstanding) and corporate Scientology.  In case you hadn’t noticed I share your recently expressed claim of a distaste for bullies.  You too can do something effective about the one you and I helped to empower.

Hi Marty,
Thanks for your reply.
My editor however wants you to know that The Enquirer is prepared to pay you at least $20,000 [twenty thousand]
for some of the confessional stuff you got from Tom Cruise. In addition, we would promote your new book, and a major Enquirer cover story about it would likely bring a flood of offers from publishers. At the very least, will you grant me the opportunity to come and interview you in Texas about as much as you are prepared to say about Tom Cruise – including the same information you told The Independent.I look forward to hopefully coming out to see you.

Subject: JOURNALIST interested in interview…

Hi Marty,
I’m a reporter for The Enquirer in New York.
I got your e-mail address from Guy Adams, a journalist with The Independent in the UK.

I sent a letter to your ‘Bayshore Court, Ingleside on the Bay’ address via FedEx yesterday, which I hope that you have received.

However, in case you didn’t get that letter, I wanted to touch base with you to let you know we’re interested in your story about your time as Inspector General for the Church of Scientology.

We are truly fascinated by your time at the helm of this organization and would like to interview you specifically about what you may know about Tom Cruise and his secrets — as you performed auditing on him.

We would like to offer you compensation for an on-the-record interview about any of Tom’s secrets, which you, and no one else knows.

If you’d like, we can also work with you if you do not want to put your name to the story but will still give us some information on Tom Cruise.

Please feel free to get in contact with me by phone or e-mail: 646.935.6048 or  brobinson@amilink.com

I look forward to hearing from you.

Best regards.

Mothers’ Day

Some thoughts about mothers and potential mothers on Mothers’ Day.

Abraham Lincoln said:

“All that I am, or hope to be, I owe to my angel mother.”

Washington Irving wrote:

“A father may turn his back on his child, brothers and sisters may become inveterate enemies, husbands may desert their wives, wives their husbands.  But a mother’s love endures through all. ”

Mark Twain wrote:

“My mother had a slender, small body, but a large heart – a heart so large that everybody’s joys found welcome in it, and hospitable accommodation.”

Oprah Winfrey noted:

“Biology is the least of what makes someone a mother.”

Miriam Makeba noted:

“Girls are the future mothers of our society, and it is important that we focus on their well-being.”

L. Ron Hubbard wrote:

“The arts and skills of woman, the creation and inspiration of which she is capable and which, here and there in isolated places in our culture, she still manages to effect in spite of the ruin and decay of man’s world which spreads around her, must be brought newly and fully into life.  These arts and skills and creation and inspiration are her beauty, just as she is the beauty of Mankind.”

James Brown brought a similar line of thought to song:

Finally:

“God could not be everywhere, so he created mothers.”

~ variously attributed (Rudyard Kipling, Jewish Proverb, etc)

Anatoly Sharansky’s Final Statement

The following might resonate with some who have experienced the corporate Scientology culture of David Miscavige.

Anatoly Sharansky’s Final Statement in the Soviet Court
presented before being sentenced on trumped-up charges for treason and espionage, July 14, 1978

(Sharansky addressed his first remarks to those who were not in the courtroom, his wife Avital who emigrated to Israel and the Jewish people):

“During my interrogation the chief investigators threatened me that I might be executed by a firing squad, or imprisoned for at least fifteen years.  But if I agreed to cooperate with the investigation for the purpose of destroying the Jewish emigration movement, they promised me freedom and a quick reunion with my wife.

“Five years ago, I submitted my application for exit to Israel. Now I am further than ever from my dream.  It would seem to be cause for regret.  But it is absolutely the other way around.  I am happy.  I am happy that I lived honorably, at peace with my conscience.  I never compromised my soul, even under the threat of death.

“I am happy that I helped people.  I am proud that I knew and worked with such honorable, brave and courageous people as Sakharov, Orlov, Ginzburg, who are carrying on the traditions of the Russian intelligentsia in defending human rights in the Soviet Union.  I am fortunate to have been witness to the process of the liberation of Jews of the USSR.

“I hope that the absurd accusation against me and the entire Jewish emigration movement will not hinder the liberation of my people.  My near ones and friends know how I wanted to exchange activity in the emigration movement for a life with my wife Avital, in Israel.

“For more than two thousand years the Jewish people, my people, have been dispersed.  But wherever they are, wherever Jews are found, every year they have repeated: ‘Next year in Jerusalem.‘  Now, when I am further than ever from my people, from Avital, facing many arduous years of imprisonment, I say, turning to my people, my Avital,  ‘Next year in Jerusalem.’

“Now I turn to you, the court, who were required to confirm a predetermined sentence: To you I have nothing to say.”

Life After Death And The Scientology Axioms

L Ron Hubbard wrote the following in 1954:

The Axioms

Axiom One: Life is basically a static. (Definition: A life static has no mass, no motion, no wavelength, no location in space or in time.  It has the ability to postulate and to perceive.)

Definition: In Scientology, the word ‘postulate’ means to cause a thinkingness or consideration. It is a specially applied word and is defined as causative thinkingness.

Axiom Two: The static is capable of considerations, postulates and opinions.

Axiom Three: Space, energy, objects, form and time are the results of considerations made and/or agreed upon or not by the static, and are perceived solely because the static considers that it can perceive them.

Axiom Four: Space is a viewpoint of dimension. (Space is caused by looking out from a point. The only actuality of space is the agreed-upon consideration that one perceives through something and this we call space.)

Axiom Five: Energy consists of postulated particles in space. (One considers that energy exists and that he can perceive energy.  One also considers that energy behaves according to certain agreed-upon laws.  These assumptions and considerations are the totality of energy.)

Axiom Six:  Objects consist of grouped particles and solids.

Axiom Seven: Time is basically a postulate that space and particles will persist. (The rate of their persistence is what we measure with clocks and the motion of heavenly bodies.)

Axiom 8:  The apparency of time is the change of position of particles in space.

Axiom 9:  Change is the primary manifestation of time.

Axiom 10: The highest purpose in the universe is the creation of an effect.

Robert Lanza wrote the following in 2011:

Does the Soul Exist?  Evidence Says Yes

and

Is Death An Illusion?  Evidence Suggests Death Isn’t The End.

Both of these articles were published in Psychology Today.

Is it not a travesty that corporate Scientologists would be burned at the stake (figuratively) if they were to dare to even take a peek at such a magazine?  Is it not a travesty that Scientology Inc is busy using the billions you have donated to them to stage public demonstrations of their flat earth mentality while science catches up with L Ron Hubbard?

Thank God for independence in religion, science and other vehicles of truth-seeking.

Transcend or descend.

Politricks

There have been a lot of respectful, round-about comments on the blog over the years implying that my politics are from the left wing.  The comments are sometimes overtly and sometimes covertly made by proud conservatives and proud liberals.

I think folks from both sides of the right/left spectrum misunderstand me. I am going to make a political (or apolitical) statement so that there isn’t any mystery about where I stand on the subject of politricks.

While I believe America has become a corporatocracy (that has sometimes verged on fascism) I also believe it has socialized so much as to have created an incentive toward ‘entitlement’ that has become degenerative.  I believe that those who capitalize (and many do as politicians and media) on these obvious problems and make a name for themselves by cleverly arguing that total elimination of either side of those competing evils is the only solution are perpetuating the problem.  I don’t waive any flag, right or left.

I think we continue to evolve and survive as a species because of the unsung heroes in the middle who get it hard from both sides while trying to push things ahead a little bit for everybody. And I think those on either side of the spectrum who earnestly push for reforms (as opposed to those capitalizing on making people anti-this or anti-that) are a lot of times, when they are focused, worthy of support.

A line by Spencer Tracy from an old classic we recently watched, A Bad Day at Black Rock, resonated with me.  His character answered about his political affiliation to a threatening, inquiring redneck (in the stereotypical sense – I have nothing against rednecks and have many times been called one myself):

I’m a rock ribbed Republican who believes Franklin Delano Roosevelt was a great man.

From 06 through 08 I worked for two papers in the Corpus Christi Bay region:

a) We The People, the voice of working men and women. A newspaper whose sponsors considered Barack Obama was too conservative to be elected President.

b) Coastal Bend Herald, The Conscience of the Coastal Bend.  A newspaper so conservative it runs a column by Ron Paul in every edition.

The publishers of both papers – on either extreme of the political spectrum – never once attempted to edit a single word in the hundreds of articles I produced.

Both publishers considered me an asset because of my investigative and writing skills, but more so because I wasn’t backed off from dealing with corruption – whether the perps were Democrats or Republicans.

My politics are that I don’t cotton to corruption and greed, and bullying and injustice to perpetuate corruption and greed.  My philosophy is that if enough people could be brought around to that way of thinking to the point of doing something about it, politics would be a rather pleasant subject and the world would be a far more fair and enjoyable place to live.

Isms don’t pull a lot of weight with me.

After living in this region for more than six years my two most trusted friends and allies are:

a)  The head of the local branch of the Tea Party.

b) The head of the Corpus Christi Populist Progressive Coalition.

Go figure.

I have. I reckon they both are trying to achieve the same thing, only via different routes.  Both of them have hearts of gold.  Both of them do what they do because they detest injustice.  Neither of them are making any money for their efforts.  Both of them would, and have, dropped everything to come to the aid of a fellow citizen in need.

I think the old man had it right when he declared Scientology to be apolitical.

Politics will sort itself out when enough good folks transcend politics.

Rupert Murdoch and David Miscavige

Haydn James submitted an article published below that draws many parallels between media king Rupert Murdoch and squirrel king David Miscavige.

Here are a few things to take into consideration when reading Haydn’s piece.

Rupert Murdoch cut his teeth on bashing L Ron Hubbard and Scientology during the sixties in Australia.

Murdoch’s US (most notably Fox News) and UK media holdings have uniquely steered clear of the dozens of breaking stories about David Miscavige’s abuse that have run in most other media since the Tampa Times landmark 2009 series The Truth Rundown.

For a while I considered that might be due to something I was working on shortly before leaving Scientology Inc in 2004.  That was working with David Miscavige and Tom Cruise to recruit Australian media magnate heir James Packer.  Tom had reported that Jamie grew up with one of Murdoch’s sons – same exclusive schools, clubs, etc – and that Murdoch treated Jamie like a son. Miscavige relieved me of all other post duties to concentrate on working with Tom to recruit Jamie. The plan was to help Jamie with Scientology and to influence Jamie to win over Murdoch for Scientology in exchange (of course never disclosing the terms to Jamie).  I was involved in the help side of it and that was rewarding. But I left before the other side of the hidden bargain was carried out by Miscavige and Cruise.

Whether that ever came to fruition may be of no import.  Reading Haydn’s post made me consider the Occam’s razor approach. Perhaps a more likely explanation is that Rupert Murdoch and David Miscavige are simply peas from the same L Ron Hubbard hating pod.

Peas in a Pod

by Haydn James

Rupert Murdoch’s plight gives an interesting comparative and some insight into the world and precarious position of David Miscavige.

Murdoch, born Australian but now an American citizen, controls the second largest but arguably the most influential media empire in the world.  500 companies in 50 countries which includes The Wall Street Journal, New York Post, Fox Television and Twentieth Century Fox studios in the USA, four newspapers including The London Times and the hugely influential Sun as well as television in the UK. He is ranked as the 13th most powerful man in the world. For decades he has been a king maker, deciding and influencing through the coordinated policy of his media outlets who should assume political power in a number of countries, particularly Australia and England but he is not without major influence in the USA. He even took on and backed down the BBC, using his political influence to extract revenge for their opposition to his activities, arranging for their annual budget to be cut by sixteen percent.

If there is a major global elitist conspiracy of greed, Murdoch is a card carrying member. And I note that he acquired The News of the World newspaper in 1968, in England, just in time for its three year onslaught against Scientology and LRH — shades of Ron’s Journal 67.

So I have been watching with fascination as, expose by expose, piece by piece, the depth of corruption on the part of Murdoch’s empire was brought to light in the UK and USA. And I have noticed that the similarities and parallels with Miscavige are unmistakable.

Murdoch bought political influence for protection and to strengthen his media stranglehold, going so far as to create a media monopoly. It used to be illegal in England for one person to own and influence more than one major media outlet but Murdoch was able to change all that. And he became an American citizen so he could acquire and own media companies in the USA.  Like David Miscavige, Rupert Murdoch created, ostensibly, an unassailable position in the world in which he ruled. People feared him and most lacked the courage to speak out against his bullying and abuses. But Murdoch’s vast political and media influence to the contrary, he proved that no position is totally safe or secure.

Just like Miscavige, Murdoch ran his personal empire as a dictator, doing only what he saw fit and without regard to common decency or law. The sheer degree of power he wielded went to his head. He thought he was above the law. And when it looked like the truth about his operations might come to light, Murdoch used the same play book of dirty tricks that Miscavige used in attempting to silence those speaking out against him.

PIs were used by Murdoch to openly follow and harass critics, even British members of parliament. Dossiers were compiled on anyone who was or might become an enemy. Any dirt they could find was used to force critics into silence or ruin their reputation via whisper campaigns. High priced lawyers were used to threaten and shudder individuals, other newspapers, companies and lawyers into silence and if that failed they “settled” (with huge pay offs) those who could not be intimidated. All very familiar to independent Scientologists.

Like David Miscavige, Murdoch was mercilessly over the top when it came to running his empire. Journalists working for one of Murdoch’s newspapers were compelled to come up with twelve major scoops (good news stories) per year or they were summarily fired. As anyone who has worked in Scientology knows, that kind of fear and duress does not result in anything good. Murdoch’s empire was no different. In turn, the journalists put pressure on the private investigators they used to dig up dirt and stories. Desperate to keep their lucrative jobs, the PIs hacked and tapped the phones and media devices of thousands of people, including celebrities, and they paid members of the police (Metropolitan Police – Scotland Yard) to retrieve and pass along information they needed. The lines into the police were extensive. Mind you, I will say this, if Murdoch’s PIs felt under pressure to produce the goods they should try working for Miscavige – or maybe they have.
From the moment a tiny fraction of the truth leaked out the result was inevitable. Despite the fact that some members of the government, police and Murdoch did all they could to cover it up, the truth eventually broke wide open. One way or another, the truth came out. In another theme familiar to Independent Scientologists, when few dared to carry the story, a single non-Murdoch newspaper in the USA picked up the ball and ran with it which emboldened other media outlets around the world.

In response to the worldwide bad press, politicians in England turned on Murdoch, blocking his expansion moves. The infamous, LRH attacking, News of the World which had been in existence for many decades was shut down and closed and a number of Murdoch’s staff have been arrested. There are three ongoing criminal investigations in the UK, FBI investigations in the USA, countless civil lawsuits for invasion of privacy as well as parliamentary investigations into the actions of Murdoch, his family and his empire. The fallout is still raining down and will for some years.

But even Murdoch has a couple of advantages over David Miscavige. Firstly, he can claim, with at least a little credibility, that his empire is so vast he could not monitor it all. David (I micro manage everything) Miscavige cannot. Secondly, Murdoch has gone to great lengths to make and publish apologies for his offences, something Miscavige will never do.

Three additional observations come out of what is happening to Murdoch.

1. In the modern world, no amount of power, political or media influence can prevent the truth from coming out.

2. Dirty tricks only hasten the process.

3. (OSA staff should note this one).  The first ones arrested are the lieutenants.

Italian Independents open up Thunder Road

In addition to our other follies, I do a lot of C/Sing from Casablanca.  The most productive team of auditors I C/S for do far more than audit.  Claudio and Renata Lugli audit, train, and recover auditors, all while also contributing to the cause of educating those still under the spell of Corporate Scientology.

Claudio has done a write up to give you an idea of how production has been accelerating down Italy way.  Realize that only a year ago Claudio and Renata had just decided that they would not be denied Scientology by a ego-intoxicated dictator.

Claudio and Renata

Since we started putting our attention on delivery we immediately pulled in Independents that were in need of help in relationship to the Reverse Scientology received in the “Church” of Miscavige.

The first Auditor that joined the team was Giovanni Bonzani an OT VII Class V Graduate that Renata convinced to start auditing again.

Giovanni heading to Flag back in the day

He is an old timer and has greatly contributed to the expansion of Scientology in Italy and has been a key element for the establishment of the original Novara Org in where he audited several years, staff and public, not as a staff himself but as an OT.

He brought one Independent, Omar Marsiglia from scratch to the State of Clear – He is now auditing regularly on the lower Bridge 5 Pcs.

One of his PCs recently wrote:

…….

Now I am happy and willing to go in session, I am relaxed, and I am interested in the processes, but most of all I am in great ARC with my Auditor, he has my total trust and the sessions just flow as smooth as ever!!!

……. Before I always had my attention on those things that I thought were wrong with me, and had a constant sensation of anxiety and of being overwhelmed and this was causing that I was withdrawing from life.

But now I am finally getting the REAL Scientology and right after the very first sessions I was feeling better and I was seeing that I had the chance of reverting the dwindling spiral.

The first sessions had been amazing; I knew my needle was floating and hearing the auditor saying that, every time, was really a release for me. The auditor’s TRs were natural, not robotic and he was making me feel at easy and I stopped worrying how the session was rolling along, I was just IN session.

Sara

Then there is of course Eliana Alaimo. Renata was in comm with her for a few weeks before she declared her Independence and made her feel safe and validated her abilities as an auditor.

Eliana

This made it possible for her to get back on OT VII and also to get back on the chair as a Class IX. She is making wonders with her PCs, she has 4 pcs now moving on up a little higher on their  OT IV and NOTs.  Marina, one of her Pre-OT wrote the following:

In today’s session I handled several areas, but at one point my back became straight, I felt taller and mental masses were blown … gone forever!!!!!

At session end was fantastic hearing my auditor saying” Your TA is Floating! End of Session!”

Marina Rubino

And Umberto another PC of hers says:

For almost 15 years, at least one time every week and sometime two I was getting strong headaches, it became a chronic somatic but I was used to live with it

About a month ago I did one session with a Class IX and handling an item on a list I had the feeling that I did handled that somatic.

But I did not want to fool myself and I kept this win for myself…. But today I thought “In the last 15 years it never happened to be without a headache, so what am I waiting for???  Its GONE.

Umberto

And last but not least we have the ACCADEMIA8008, me, Renata and some other Independents decided to create a safe island for moving people up the bridge to total freedom.

In the Accademia8008 we audited several Pcs and Pre-OT.

Isabella Marziani: Life Repair on ARC SW

Luca Servalli: ARC SW and on Grade 0

Ifigenia: Repair of Reverse Scientology and ATTESTED TO THE STATE OF CLEAR

Giovanni Servalli: Repair and back on NED for OTs

Giovanna Ongaro: Repair and Attested to NOTs COMPLETION

Francesco Gavardini: REPAIR PROGRAM

Davide &Golia: On NOTs

Emma: On NOTs

Barbara Salvini: Life Repair- ARC SW- Grado 0 – now on Grade 1

Nella Dell’Aquila: Life Repair – OT Prerations and Set Ups

This is for the processing side and on Training we have:

Nella Dell’Aquila: On Solo Course Part 1

Isabella Marziani: PTS SP Course

Luca Sevalli: On Student Hat

Giovanni Servalli: On Solo Course Part 1

Giovanna Ongaro: On Solo Course Part 1

Omar Marsiglia: On Student Hat

Ivan Marsiglia: Completed BSM

Bea: Ups and Down in Life and on Personal Integrity

Emma: On the Class IX Course

Ifgenia wrote this win that I like to share:

I have not yet realized fully what happened!!!!

I AM CLEAR…..!

There is a huge difference in the environment you find yourself in.

You can be in a place where every person is there with the intention to get you free or you are in a place where the only goal is to get your money.

If you are in the right place it is not difficult to reach your  goals because everything aligns in the right direction.

I feel a great peace, inside I feel great calmness and tranquility.

I was audited with care and gentleness

My auditor took great responsibility for my case and his interest was not monitored by statistics but only by help.

Thanks to all the staff at Accademia8008.

Thanks for what you do, for the dedication you put into it.

Nobody is forcing you to do what you are doing, but you do it with passion and competence, continuing to study and taking responsibility.

Of course thanks to Ron.

I wish to all the Scientologist to be able to reach the peace that I found.

Ifigenia

We have a Blog:

http://accademia8008.wordpress.com/

and there we share the wins that are achieved by the students, Pcs and Pre-OT gravitating around the Accademia8008.

We are a small team, but we are determined and growing, we are using Scientology to help raise to greater heights, we have no agenda besides that.

We adhere to standard tech, we have great respect for the works of L. Ron Hubbard and we use is legacy – there is no interest on altering it or finding or trying any substitutes . We had enough in the “church” of David Miscavige.

Your help in making this possible has been crucial.

Thank you for being there for us!

Claudio & Renata

And everybody here at Accademia8008

Oh yeah, you might be wondering about the reference to Thunder Road.  It is our inside code taken from the lyric of the Springsteen song of that title, “it’s a town full of losers and I’m pulling out of here to win.”   The song captures the spirit of recognizing Corporate Scientology is nothing but a dusty street of broken dreams, and that the remedy for that  is – even if you’re thinking you are getting old – to trade in your wings for some wheels and follow your heart down Thunder Road.

This one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PYPSZiE0OAs

And guess what, if you got it you don’t forget how to do it 27 years later: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-I579UTHm-o

Possession and Dependency

Possession is the way you pin people down.  If you give them enough possessions, you fixed them.  You really fixed them.  The way to ruin somebody would be to give him a million dollars!  That would just ruin him.  Right now there’s a government on the face of the earth which is making a principle of giving everybody money. And I’ll be a son of a gun if people don’t take it.  It’s a sure way to ruin. To have, to have, to have, to have; a dependency, a dependency, a dependency — it’s ruinous.  Because the only way to have is to create and then not have.  Just create and not have, create and not have, create and not have will put you in full command of time and make you cause without ever getting an effect  And the magician wanted this answer — oh, my God, how he wanted that answer!  And there it is for you.  If you create, create, create, create, create, you never violate the second law of magic, “Do not be hoist by your own petard.”  “Do not be an effect to your own cause.”  And the only way you can be an effect to your own cause is to keep moving up the time stream and acting after you’ve postulated.  So you want it — if you can get it on the level of create, create, create, create, create, create, then you’ll never have “have”  You haven’t got time!

So, how do you avoid this?  Never borrow any money from a bank — make it.  Never accept a gift — make it.  Dealing in the MEST (Matter, Energy, Space, Time) universe you can shilly-shally around and monkey around a little bit if you want to, shift possessions around — don’t take them very seriously.

                        –  L Ron Hubbard, 7 November 1952

Fill your bowl to the brim; and it will spill.

Keep sharpening your knife; and it will blunt.

Chase after money and security and your heart will never unclench.

Care about people’s approval and you will be their prisoner.

Do your work, then step back

The only path to serenity.

                                  -Lao Tzu, circa 500 BC
