                                                                                             January 22, 2011
Dear Friends,
What follows is a series of events, observations and conclusions related to my relationship with officials and parishioners of the Church of Scientology. The events are true as I remember them; the observations and conclusions my own.

On Sunday morning, January 16, 2011, at about 11 AM, I was visited by my friend to discuss a film script we had written. The appointment for my friend and I to meet was made by us the night before.

When I opened the door, I was surprised to see that my friend was accompanied by Mr. Tommy Davis (The Church of Scientology’s Director of Public Affairs) and Mr. Michael Sutter (Scientology’s Office of Special Affairs) both dressed in their Sea Org uniforms.

The three wanted to have a conversation about a serious matter concerning my well-being. I asked them to leave, saying I was not interested in discussing anything with them at this time.  But Mr. Davis and my friend insisted, and we continued to converse on my door step.

Mr. Davis explained that the matter of great importance and concern was the fact that I had been audited by a member of a squirrel group in Texas; and that this had to be addressed and handled immediately.  Since I had told no one about my trip, I asked him how he came to know of it. He replied that he “just knew”. He also “knew” that I had posted the wins and extraordinarily positive
experience from this auditing under a pseudonym on a blog written by a declared SP.

Had they surveilled me? Had they taken photos or video of my visit? How did they know that the pseudonym was me?  Mr. Davis said he “just knew”

Again I asked the three to leave.

Mr Davis then showed me a reference that indicated  I had committed a suppressive act by being audited by the SP; that I was audited without the back-up of an Org i.e.. proper C/S’ ing, Examiner, Ethics Officer, and without access to previous PC folders, was totally off policy and dangerous. Then he showed me a Declare Order on goldenrod that indicated I was a Suppressive Person. I asked Mr. Davis if he thought I was a suppressive person. He said no, but that I had strayed off the path and had to find my way back as soon as possible.

My friend likened me to Shakespeare’s  Othello, who was being manipulated by Iago.  (Iago’s third partying results in Othello murdering his own bride,  Desdemona). The tone, in which she expressed this to me was a hostile one. She had never used it in all the years we’d known each other, and it both surprised, angered and then saddened me.

Once again I asked them to leave but they would not.

Mr. Davis then continued by saying I could be sued for the amount of money (parishioner’s money) that it would cost the Church to re-shoot the films I had made with Golden Era Studios, just as Larry Anderson and Jason Beghe had been sued. (I later learned that the threatened suits against them were never initiated)

The suit and the Declare Order would not happen, Mr Davis said,  if I came to my senses and accompanied them immediately to an Org, and began an “A to E” program to get back into the good graces of the Church. I emphatically refused.

I told them that I had been researching points of view expressed on various blogs, books and videos which severely take to task the current management of the Church; that I’d spoken to Sea Org members and public who had personally experienced abuses by management personnel, and the alteration and disregard of LRH policy and technology.

I explained I had also researched the Church’s point of view by reading various articles, watching videos and raising questions in D of P’s and with an Ethics terminal; and I’d read articles and watched videos attempting to rebut the charges made by the above disaffected Scientologists; and that I had spent twenty-seven years in the Church taking numerous courses and solo auditing for ten years on OT VII.

My conclusion, I told Mr. Davis and the others, was, that after nearly two years of research and study,  I believed that the Church is not functioning as LRH would have it;  and that my questions had not adequately been answered.

Mr. Davis said he would answer all my questions if they could come into my home. I said I did not want to do that at this time; that I had to prepare myself with the data I had researched and I would meet with him alone at 8 PM that evening at CC Int. He said that Mr. Sutter had to be there as well and I agreed, giving him my word that I would be there. The three then left.

After they had gone I began to reflect on what had just occurred; that I had actually been ambushed by my friend of thirty years, and two very important members of the Church; that I’d been shown an SP Declare Order that had been printed up even before I had been given evidence of what I had done.

In the interim my ex-wife, Joy called (we have remained very close).  I discussed what had just happened with her and in our two-way comm cycle I realized I was not ready to meet with Mr. Davis and Mr. Sutter, and breaking my word,  canceled.

Later that afternoon I learned that my sister-in-law who is on OT VII in Florida was already informed about my visit to Texas and that I had canceled the meeting at CC Int. Needless to say it was quite a stressful Sunday.

Monday afternoon I received a call from another friend (my best friend) a Scientologist, whom I’ve known for twenty-five years. He asked if it were true that I had left the Church. I said yes and he asked if he could come to my home and discuss it with me. I said he could, if he came alone. He promised he would. Later that day he arrived and we began to talk. Not ten minutes  later there was a
knock on the door —  it was Tommy Davis and two more friends. I asked them all to leave but they persuaded me to let them stay.

The ensuing conversation was about how much they cared about me; how wrong I was in attacking the Church because of my visit to the squirrel group and the subsequent posting of my wins; how I was throwing away the best thing in my life and would regret it for the rest of my life; and that the squirrel SP, and others I mentioned were evil in their intention to destroy the Church.

Again there was a knock on the door. Three other friends had arrived, and I was told there were two more on the way. Now very angry, I insisted that the conversation be ended , if the others did not leave. They did.

The conversation inside continued. I showed them letters written by Luis Garcia, the Schick’s,the Lugli’s and the Minelli’s from Italy, and Hy Levy. I said I had read books by the Headleys and Jeff Hawkins. I asked how could they ALL be SP’s?  The response was that they were either lying or insane, and under the control of the SP I had visited in Texas.

I had had it and did not want these people in my home. So after threatening to call the police, I finally got them to leave. I again promised I would meet with Davis and one of the friends the next day.

After they left, a major mass lifted from my universe, I felt I could breathe again. Being slammed with their attitudes and fixed viewpoints was causing physical and mental suppression. Not once did any of them acknowledge that I had a viewpoint. One of them warned that being mid OT VII would now open me up to god knows what dangers; that I had reached for the reactive instead of the
analytic points of view. It had been a continual bombardment of invalidation.

Since I stopped Solo’ing in 2004`, my life has flourished across the Dynamics; and my four days of auditing with the “SP” had handled areas of my life which had been bugged for years. I was feeling freer spiritually, emotionally and physically than I had felt in years. And now this.

I decided not to meet with Davis,  and in a phone call told him (1) I was definitely not coming back to the Church (2) I would not post my letter (this one) or any other comments attacking the Church (3) that my wife, daughter and I had to be left alone. Davis told me he understood, but that we would have to “wrap up the cycle”.

I discussed this with my family and others and we realized what wrapping up the cycle would mean. It was obvious that because of our points of view and our decision, we were already considered enemies of the Church, by  Church officials and by our friends. And since we were not going to return that consideration would remain.

We also believed that “wrapping up the cycle” would possibly mean signing some sort of statement and we were not willing to do that. So we decided to end any discourse between ourselves, Church officials and those people who would be arguing for us to return.

It was quite a Tuesday.

On Friday at my place of work, a television studio,  I met a friend and co-worker, a Scientologist, who I have known for about 20 years. I assumed this friend, a woman, had already been made aware of my status in the Church. Seeing the look on my face, she asked what was wrong. I said I did not want to bring it up at work but she insisted.

Reluctantly I related  that I had left the Church, and what had happened on Sunday and Tuesday. She seemed patient and interested and willing to listen, but  the conversation was interrupted. Before we resumed a while later, I asked her to please stop me if and when she began to feel the slightest enturbulation. She said she could take it and would I go ahead.

I began speaking about the research which had brought me to my decision. When I drew the distinction between LRH and his technology, and the current management of the Church, which I have come to believe was corrupt, she instantly transformed into another person. I was now the “enemy” attacking her life and everything she believed in. The more I tried to explain why I had come to my conclusions, the more savage her attack became. She said I needed
to stop and that I was “not there” and that every remark I was making was covertly hostile. Then she made a most bizarre statement — “You” (meaning me), she said, “now have an enemy at work”. It was said with such venom, I was stunned.  She made another brief but equally bizarre series of comments about always being my friend and she left. The comment about work was handled immediately with the proper terminals.

So there you have six days of entheta and counting.

Regarding my refusal to have the conversation Mr. Davis wanted Sunday morning and later that day:

The Code of Honor, The Creation of Human Ability  LRH
#8   “Do not give or receive communication unless you yourself
desire it”
#14 “Be you own advisor, keep you own counsel and select you own
decisions.”

Regarding my two year study of various points of view posted on the
internet, published in books and discussed in various videos and
tape recordings:
HCO PL 7 February 1965 LRH
KSW Series 1, Keeping Scientology Working
“Look, don’t listen”

Code of a Scientologist  LRH
10 “To work for freedom of speech in the world”.
11 “To actively decry the suppression of knowledge, wisdom,
philosophy or data which would help mankind”

The Phoenix Lectures, 1954 LRH
“(People) learn to keep their mouths shut, and it’s the wrong
lesson. When in doubt, talk. When in doubt, communicate…you’ll be
successful all the way along the line if
you just remember that.”

I am referring to the information being disseminated on the blogs.

Technical Bulletin, Confront LRH
“If one can confront he can be aware. If he is aware, he can perceive and act. If he can’t confront, he will not be aware of things and will be withdrawn and not perceiving. Thus he is unaware of the things around him.”

Technical Bulletin, Personal Integrity
“What is true for you is what you have observed yourself. And when
you lose that, you have lost everything. What is personal integrity? Personal
integrity is knowing what you know–And to have the courage to know
and say what you have observed–and sufficient personal belief and
confidence in self and courage that we can observe what we observe
and say what we have observed.”

Universal Declaration of Human Rights
Article #19 “Everyone has the right to freedom of opinion and
expression; this right includes freedom to hold opinions without
interference and to seek, receive and impart information and ideas
through any media and regardless of frontiers”

The Creed of the Church of Scientology LRH
“That all men have inalienable rights to think freely; to talk
freely; to write freely their own opinions and to counter or utter
or write upon the opinions of others.”

Thomas Jefferson
“The price of freedom is eternal vigilance.”

Ron Hubbard
“The price of freedom: Constant alertness. Constant willingness to
fight back. There is no other price.”

What I have learned over the past two years is that many hundreds of people, good people, both public and staff, OT VII’s and VIII’s, Sea Org members, highly classed auditors, who have devoted decades to helping people, who have contributed financially and their expertise to the delivery and expansion of LRH’s Scientology have found grievous faults with the church’s management. They say it is no longer LRH’s church and I have come to believe them.

Regarding my being audited by a squirrel and SP:

Since I had concluded that the Church was being mismanaged and that portions of the tech had been altered; and I hadn’t been audited or solo’d  in a number of years, I decided to go elsewhere for a session. I thought long and hard about this and after thoroughly researching his qualifications, decided to visit an auditor outside the Church, who I believed was qualified to handle me.

The auditing I received from him was spectacular. The sessions were like gentle conversations, easy and light, generally ending with lots of laughter from the PC. Long standing case phenomena in four areas were handled that were  never handled during my road to Clear and during the  years I spent auditing through the OT levels including a decade on Solo NOTS. The wins continue to be stable
attested to by Joy and my daughter Sky who say they have never seen me so light and operating with such high ARC. It was a magical four days.

Code of a Scientologist LRH
“As a Scientologist, I pledge myself to the Code of
Scientology for the good of all…
12.  to support the freedom of religion.”

The Creed of the Church of Scientology LRH
“That all men have inalienable rights to conceive, choose, assist
or support their own  organizations, churches and governments.”

The Constitution of the United States, Amendment 1
“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of
religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging
the freedom of speech, or of the press, or the right of the people
peaceably to assemble; and to petition the government for redress
of grievances.”

Regarding my auditor having no Org to provide PC folders, C/S’ing and end of session examination:

There is a site on which you can learn the qualifications of my auditor, and why he was assigned by Mr. Miscavige to audit Tom Cruise among other Scientology celebrities; and who was permitted to wear the hat of C/S, Examiner and Ethics Officer. I will send the site to you if you wish.

If I had the slightest sliver of doubt regarding my conclusions (which I do not) about what the current Church of Scientology has become, that doubt would have been dispelled Sunday — spying on me; officials show up at my door without warning, and albeit in a civil tone, threatening and intimidating  me with a law suit and expulsion, warnings of consequences to my friends and family — if I did not come back to the “path from which I have strayed”. Officials who have, even before they arrived at my door, informed friends and family of my “transgressions”? , What kind of Church is that? Is this what LRH intended?

LRH wrote in HCOB PL 7 February 1965, Keeping Scientology Working
Series I:

“So the ogre which might eat us up is not the government or the
High Priests, It’s our possible failure to retain and practice our
technology.”

And this excerpt  by LRH from the Anatomy of the Spirit of Man
Congress  Lecture #15 What is Scientology Doing? 6 June 1955

“As I look into the future, I see that we are handling here material of a potential control and command over mankind which must not be permitted at any time to become the monopoly or the tool of the few to the danger and disaster of the many…”

“And I believe the freedom of the material which we know and
understand is guaranteed only by lightness of organization, a
maximum of people, good training and good, reliable, sound relay of
information. And if we can’t do these things, sooner or later the
information which we hold will become the property of an
untrustworthy few. This I am sure because it has always happened
this way…”

Regarding the conversations Tuesday and Friday:

All the above references.

Some observations:

Whenever David Miscavige was spoken of negatively, the response of every Scientologist who appeared in this drama, was virtually identical — an attack ranging in tone levels from antagonism to covert hostility, and the stopping of any further comments.

Davis and some of the friends use of the tech robotically to stifle any portion of any point of view I might have contrary to their beliefs. There was not one iota of acknowledgement by anyone of the remotest possibility that there could be corruption at the highest levels of management.

They asserted the absolute rightness of their position regarding possible corruption of management and asserted the absolute wrongness of myself or  anyone who dares to believe that corruption exists. The people I encountered seem to have the unshakeable belief that L. Ron Hubbard, his technology, the Church of Scientology and David Miscavige are all one, so that LRH as Source equals David Miscavige as Source.  Insanity is “the inability to associate and differentiate properly” (Scientology 8-8008); sanity is “the ability to recognize differences, similarities and identities” (HCO PL 26 April 70R)

My conclusions:

I love and respect LRH as a friend and philosopher because the truth and wisdom of his ideas  has bettered my life and the lives of countless others. My argument is not with him or his work. I will defend him and the technology with all my being. My argument is with what the Church has become and how it now operates. Like the vast majority of those who have left, I will always be a
Scientologist and endeavor to better the conditions of those around me with the use of that technology. My purpose is not to undermine or nullify LRH or his true legacy.

My friendship with those of you who have spoken with me this past week, and others whom I have known and cared about over the years, is not based on the policies or dictates of the Church; and if my change of heart regarding my membership in it causes us to separate, so be it. That makes me very sad. Sad because it is dictated that you take what I have done as a personal attack and
betrayal.  I can only say, and I have looked at this very seriously and as truthfully as I am able, that were the situation reversed, I would remain true to you — because to me, that is the profound meaning of friendship.

I do not wish to be part of an organization which on the one hand, states its purpose to be the betterment of Mankind by improving the life of each individual, and on the other,  has its members behave in such a vicious and destructive manner; an organization which cannot tolerate a concerted and fair look into the possibility of corruption after so many credible observers have publicly stated that it exits; an organization which has created an environment in
which dissent and opposition results in vituperation and the ripping apart of family and friends; therefore I resign from the Church of Scientology and do not wish to be contacted by anyone representing the church, whether officially or otherwise in order to “salvage” me.

Michael Fairman

Note from Marty:  Because of the power of Michael’s message, I did not want to distract from it with introductory comments.  For those who do not know Michael, I want to provide a couple of words.  While all of us have walked the valley of the shadow of death in our own inimitable styles, I was particularly impressed in witnessing part of Michael’s journey.  His exploration was done in a very dispassionate, thorough and classy manner.  It is a relfection of the man; one of most theta, compassionate, and strong that I have had the privilege of knowing.  In my view he is the embodiment of the Code of Honor.

In Defense Of Tommy Davis

I know I have in the past, in moments of frustration, referred to Tommy in less than respectful terms.  I had a bit of a change of heart after Mike Rinder and I had a discussion about Miscavige’s standard operating procedure for handling the media.

For those who’ve more recently joined us, perhaps you did not hear the Tommy Davis meltdown with the St Petersburg Times.  Tommy’s interview in response to their 2009 Truth Rundown series investigation “annihilated” Tommy’s and Miscavige’s credibility – confirming for most intelligent listeners that Tommy was lying through his teeth and David Miscavige in fact did commit the serial psychotic and violent acts enumerated by myself, Mike Rinder, Amy Scobee, Tom Devocht, Jeff Hawkins, Marc Headley, Claire Headley, Steve Hall, et al……

You can find the Davis meltdown here, particularly the first segment titled “there were witnesses to it”:  http://www.tampabay.com/specials/2009/reports/project/church-response.shtml

Tommy testified under oath as follows  in the Headley cases this summer.  In early 09 Tommy was minding his own business  deep in the bowels of Flag central files. Tommy was on a several month project to get those files in order (presumably, and this is my presumption, because he was busted to that lowly position after his blow from the Sea Org two years earlier) .  He was  fished out of planet-file to report to Linda Hammil (CO OSA INT) in order to handle official spokesperson duties, right about the time the church was informed Miscavige’s crimes against humanity were about to see the light of day.

This makes perfect sense, much like Mike Rinder was pulled out of filthy manual labor duty in 2007 to handle the BBC.

Tommy has been hell on wheels since, either talking to the media or cajoling and threatening former members who have foresaken Corporate, Radical Scientology.  Lies flow from him like the Niagra. Apparently, he does not want to wind up back in the caverns of manila folders.  A typical Miscavige leverage operation.

Then what is to defend about Tommy?   Tommy is a good kid.  I like him, and while I don’t like what he does for Miscavige, I will always like him.  Tommy  is simply PTS, Potential Trouble Source, somebody connected to and the effect of a Suppressive Person. In this case, obviously the SP is David Miscavige.

When acting as spokesperson, whether with the media or with fleeing members, Tommy is not allowed to think.  Tommy is not allowed to originate. Tommy is required to act as an automaton of David Miscavige.  He must do and say precisely what Miscavige tells him to do and say, exactly how Miscavige wants him to do and say it.

It is not an enviable position to be in.  While I can sit in judgment of how Tommy has coped with this situation, I recognize it is a very difficult place to be. It is not just me saying this.  Check out Mike and I discussing how Miscavige micromanages the defense of his image below.   You’ll perhaps get an idea of the kind of extreme stress Tommy is put under to bring about what you see in public.

At the end of the day, I look forward to Tommy’s four or five glorious days at Casablanca, a short week in which he is brought back to his own native, charming personality; the one that many of us once knew.

WHAT WILL THEY THINK OF NEXT?

by Mike Rinder

Here is the latest twist on sucking blood out of stones.

Once you have turned over any available money and have borrowed to your credit card limit and taken out your second or third mortgage, cashed in your life insurance policy and sold your future rights to an inheritance, there is something more EVERYONE can give in order to raise their status.

Here is the newest email from Orange County Pawn Shop Fundraisers:

Subject: Would You Like To Participate In The Ebay Game?

 Dear Victim,

HERE’S A WAY TO HELP ORANGE COUNTY ACHIEVE IDEAL ORG STATUS WITH LITTLE EFFORT AND VERY LITTLE TIME!

IT’S THE EBAY GAME!

The eBay game is a way for as many people as possible to help with fundraising to complete the Ideal Org building in Orange County, in a way that requires very little effort. Almost everyone has something around their house or apartment which could be sold on eBay for some value. Jewelry, collectibles, antiques, novelty items, old baseball cards, old comic books, musical equipment… you get the idea.

Turn that useless Matter into productive Energy to help us all reach the goal! It’s simple – just bring any items you wish to donate to any of the Fundraiser I/C’s at the Org. We will then arrange to have them placed for sale on eBay (or Craig’s List). You will then be credited for the amount sold, toward your Ideal Org donation status.

 What could be easier?

Larger items can also be donated, such as boats, furniture, appliances, and the like. For items that are too large to be brought in to the org, let us know and we will make arrangements for larger size donations.

If you are interested in helping get the smaller flows going so the bigger ones can happen, just answer this email letting us know and you answer will be forwarded to the right terminal who will contact you directly !

 Thank You!!

Yvonne, Marty and Marie

Next up on the Vulture Culture agenda, once all personal possessions, teeth fillings and hair are sold off:

BLOOD, SWEAT AND TEARS

You know the old saying, we achieve our goals with blood, sweat and tears. Well, have we got news for you. Your sweat and tears may be spilled in great volume, but they’re not going to get you to that next all-important status. BUT, your blood can. We have made a special arrangement with Plasma Corp of America.  Just go to any of their locations and tell them you are humanitarian contributor to the Church of Scientology, and they will credit 75%of your blood donation to your status account.  Join us in the greatest blood drive ever. Now your blood has real meaning to the greatest game on earth.

THE ULTIMATE STATUS

We know you can’t give blood every day.  Your body needs a little time to replenish itself. But don’t worry, we have you covered. We are in negotiation with a medical group in India.  They will pay good money towards YOUR STATUS for your kidneys.  You don’t need both kidneys and you can donate one to a REAL valuable cause – our building. And if you only have one kidney, you can donate skin, eyes, teeth and many other sorts of tissue you may never have thought of.  You can demonstrate your dedication to the most important game on earth with the ultimate sacrifice for the ultimate STATUS – humanitarian sacrificial lamb. Remember, you are NOT a body – but it sure can help you achieve your next status. And don’t forget, that status will carry you into eternity in better shape than you have ever been.

And finally, not ready to be named an official status booster program yet, but on the line-up for 2011, once we sort out some legal points:  Mothers, wives and daughters, a special game just for you.  It’s a time proven method of making money. One of the oldest known to man…

Stay tuned – we are out of ideas right now, but we never stop thinking of way for YOU to achieve your status.

Far-fetched?  Yes.

Unreal? No.

10 years ago who would have believed orgs would be engaged in raffles, Top Gun nights, bingo and begging for money?

You are watching the Church of Scientology destroy itself.

RS Puts Its Freak On for Amy and Mat

Here is some breaking news from my good friend of 33 years Mat Pesh.  It further illustrates a point I have been making to friends for some time now: the Ogre that is destroying the church of Scientology is not only its failure to practice the technology but also  its insistence on performing over-the-top freak shows attempting to shut people up.  David Miscavige’s primary collection line is based on his continued, off-policy advertisements of attacks against “Scientology.”   While painting himself as a victim he carefuly omits 100% of the “attacks” are brought about by his insane continuing efforts to control thought and suppress free speech, much like is documented below as occuring to this day (literally).

By the way, thanks Amy and Mat.  Mike Rinder and I got a whole hell of a lot accomplished over the past couple days. I was wondering why there was so little distraction from the mosquitoes.  Now, I know why.

RADICAL CORPORATE SCIENTOLOGY CONTINUES TO FAIL

by Mat Pesch

For those who don’t already know, my wife Amy Scobee and I were both in the Sea Organization for over 25 years before leaving in 2005.

Like thousands of others, we had to deal with our families being torn apart due to the “church” disconnection policy.

About two years ago, certain events occurred that brought us to the point where we needed to speak out. The first was seeing several thousand non-Scientologists (Anonymous) publicly taking a stand against Scientology’s human rights violations. The second was that the Scientology Spokesman (Tommy Davis) went on CNN, claiming that they had absolutely no such practice as disconnection.

Amy and I knew what making a stand would mean in terms of time, money and exposure to the infamous Scientology harassment techniques. But we also knew that through 2 ½ decades of service, we were part of creating this monster and felt we had a responsibility to take action.

A school bully doesn’t give back your lunch money just because you stay silent or act nice. Likewise, this lying, criminal, bullying “church” wasn’t going to give people back their families and their basic human rights without a fight. So, we knew what we had to do.

This decision led to our contribution to the Saint Petersbug Times stories and Amy writing and publishing her book, SCIENTOLOGY – ABUSE AT THE TOP.

For the past two years, we have made ourselves available to a never-ending list of media, religious scholars and leaders, government officials, authors and concerned citizens. We are always willing to drop what we are doing for this cause and have traveled to various cities, states and even countries to help expose radical Scientology’s abuse of human rights.

This brings us to our latest adventure.

Earlier this week, Amy and I flew to Los Angeles for a quick stop-over so Amy could meet with some people investigating the “church”.

As usual, tax-free religious donations were used to pay a number of private investigators to follow us around. They tried to intimidate Amy by repeatedly asking her how it felt to be “paid to lie” – a question David Miscavige should be asking himself personally on an hourly basis.

You can briefly see one of the PI encounters here.

The night before, after many hours of trailing by at least three cars and their ineffective intimidation attempts, it got pretty old so we called the police. The PI’s dispersed. Three police cars responded immediately and a police report was filed against Scientology. By the time we finished talking, three more people were interested in reading Amy’s book to find out what goes on behind Scientology’s facade.

The next morning, Amy and I went to the LAX airport to catch our flight home. We were in line to go through the security check point. There were about a dozen no-nonsense TSA personnel scanning and patting down passengers. Things were pretty boring (a bottle of water found in a back pack and a nail clipper in an old lady’s purse), but that was about to change…

Amy and I were almost next in line for the security check point when a middle-aged woman walked up to my wife and asked if she was Amy Scobee. Amy said, “Yes, and who are you?” She said “Who I am is not important. I was supposed to meet you and find out how much you’re getting paid.”

Knowing that criminals absolutely hate exposure, I went off.

At the top of my voice and pointing directly at the woman, I yelled,

Hey, everybody! This lady is from the Scientology cult, sent here to harass us for exposing their acts against humanity.”

This is how Scientology torments people in your community!”

The cult leader, David Miscavige’s wife Shelly has not been publicly seen – dead or alive – in almost three years!”

With that, TSA security was on the woman, asking her why she was there and telling her it was forbidden for her to harass their passengers.

The lady lied and told them she was traveling. Bad move. She had no luggage and no travel papers. Last I saw, the TSA staff were escorting her to who knows where…

Amy and I were put through the check point where one of the main TSA officers was very interested to learn how radical Scientology and their terrorist arm (OSA) use paid and duped agents to torment whistle-blowers.

If the “church” wants to continue acting like the criminal organization that they are, any remaining public support they may have will most certainly be lost – if not their entire status as a “religion” and any legal and monetary benefits that religious recognition may provide them.

Statistics

The post that follows was submitted by Northwest Independent Coordinator Tony DePhillips.  Tony coordinates an impressive network of prominent, smart OTs from Alaska to Oregon and from Washington to Wyoming – many of whom, for a variety of good reasons, are still flying missions under the radar.   This little gem on the subject of statistics was written by one of them. An indvidual, by the way, who has accumulated considerable Scientology expansion statistics of his own over the years.

I am going to introduce his post with the answer to his implied question: why aren’t statistics being shared and operated on by Miscavige and co?   Well, it is one answer, straight from cob:

Sworn deposition testimony of David Miscavige taken in a lawsuit in Los Angeles Superior Court in April 1990, three years after having invented and then appropriated to himself the highest “ecclesiastical” position in the church, Chairman of the Board RTC:

Q. HAVE YOU BEEN CERTIFIED AS HAVING TAKEN THE ORG EXECUTIVE COURSE?

A. I DON’T THINK SO.

Q. HAVE YOU GRADUATED FROM THE ORG EXECUTIVE COURSE?

A. NO.

Statistics

by Nanook of the Northwest

The biggest omission in any Scientology event or International Scientology News magazine is the statistics of Scientology.

As every Scientologist knows all Orgs and Missions dutifully collect and report their statistics each and every week. The basic statistics are: Gross Income; Gross Book sales; Number of book sold; Number of auditing hours; Total value of services delivered; Number of books sold to new people (who have never started a paid service in Scientology) and First Service Starts (people starting their very first paid service in Scientology). Bigger Scientology centers have stats like the Number of Auditors made, or People who made it to Clear. There are MANY more statistics; Scientology Orgs and Missions report as many as 30 to 80 statistics to management every week.

Statistics are tabulated for each type of Scientology center, Organizations, Missions, Advanced Orgs, etc. They are tabulated by country, region, continent and of course world wide. The record of statistics goes WAY back.

It is possible to see the complete statistics of Scientology stretching back to at least the 1970’s, if not earlier.

So the question is: Why doesn’t the church SHOW the stats?

If the number of new people starting their first paid service in Scientology was going up and up and up, don’t you think that they would show us the graph?

Of course they would!!!!!

If any or all of the major statistics of Scientology were going up and up and up for the last 40 years you can bet your last cent that the church would be showing the graphs to every one.

Its not that the Church does not show ANY stats. There are graphs shown at events and such. Maybe there will be a graph of the number of LRH books donated to libraries. Or the number of Way to Happiness booklets distributed. But these are not the real basic statistics of Scientology.

Any communication from Management to Scientologists should include the real statistics. Let’s see the Mission network stats, all of them as mentioned above for the last year, 5 years, 10 years, 20 years. Let’s see the same for all Class 5 Organizations. If the Ideal Org program is working than this should not be a problem.

The very fact that the statistics are NOT shown is a strong indicator that they are DOWN.

Of course one cant say they are down just by not seeing the graph, but simple logic dictates that the statistical graphs not being shown broadly indicates something negative.

L. Ron Hubbard has written literally hundreds of policy directives about management by statistics.

In the policy letter entitled: “False Reports” (2 April 1965) Mr. Hubbard says:
“You will find inevitably that where there is a false report, a false attestation or a no-report or a refused report many other offenses can suddenly emerge. These were hidden like a group cancer. Pulled to view, the group clears.” …”Troubles, commotions and upsets only occur after a series of false reports, false attestations, no-reports or withheld reports.” (Italics not added, they are in the original LRH text.)

In any sort of a true group the stats would be shown, good or bad. They are the reality of what is. Up or down, the stats show expansion or contraction. If they are up then the discussion is about why they went up and what can be done to continue the rise. And if they are down, then the group can discuss why they went down and what can be done to make the stats go up again.
But to not show the stats, or report false stats short circuits the process. Now there can be no real discussion of what needs to be done.

A no-report indicates either a complete incompetence or something is being hidden…or both. It is completely wrong to think that there are “other reasons” for not showing the stats. Some may dream up the idea that reporting down stats is bad for morale. But LRH does NOT say this is the case.

Any competent and honest management would NEVER withhold this information, they would report what is and then work with the group to improve things, unless they had something to hide.

If you managed a company and one department refused to report their regular statistics but instead reported a bunch of newly made up statistics promoting how great things were going, what would YOU do?

A Tom Cruise Dream Comes True – the Silver Screen

David Miscavige, self-proclaimed “ecclesiastical leader” of the Church of Scientology, used many shifts to lead Tom Cruise into becoming his bossom buddy and  foresaking his career by way of public Miscavige-like behaviors.  One tactic was to use under-minimum-wage church staff to produce a string of over-the-top “personal” gifts from Dave to Tom.  One of those gifts was a custom-upgraded bus specially designed and tricked to cater to Tom’s every wish for a personal facility on the set of his movies.   While Cruise paid the costs of material and non-Scientology core structural labor, many hundreds of hours of Sea Org (the fraternal, elite “religious” order of Scientology) labor and craftsmanship coordinated, designed, and executed the plan to deliver a one-of-a-kind product, from Dave to Tom with love.

Custom Made Logo For Dave to Tom Love Bus

The following despatch from Dir Vehicles Gold (Yvonnne Gonzalves) to COB COMM RTC refers to her Sea Org crew running rampant through Marathon (custom coach) company to ensure Dave’s target for delivering Tom’s bus is met.  This is only the beginning of the bizarre story of a “church” turned into a Hollywood custom gift production unit.

Re: SILVER SCREEN

Dear Sir;

Thanks very much and yes I have been silent.

I have been working over the Marathon owner, production head and head of engineering and design in order to get the TM back.

In present time the bus is to be completed by August 28th from Sept 12th from October 28th– I have done this by making quality control get done whilst the coach is being built [instead of one week at the end of manufacture], except for one test which has to get done at the end (electrical load test which required 12 hours of running the bus at full electrical load to ensure it can handle it – is a safety test). Only allowing 4 days for the painting of the coach (normally a 3 week TM). Getting as much done concurrent as possible.

I did find the why which you had mentioned to JB you did not feel had been found and it is financial.

Despite the planning being in place the bus was moving at a snail’s pace.

To explain, this company is building 18 coaches concurrent and Silver Screen is a custom coach requiring 2X the hours and incurs overtime. It is not handled with any priority due to the funding it requires. The general spec coaches which are sold off the lot and bring in instant funds are kept going through the production line in order to keep the company above boards. Bumping any of these “spec” coaches results in finance troubles and personnel out of work and is why the owner and head of production do not want to “speed” Silver Screen up.

It is one of the main factors which resulted in the owner and head of production bumping the Silver Screen bus back to Oct 28th.

This bus is more custom than anything they have ever done.

I am not making this my problem – it is the companies and am making the owner and head of production very aware of who they are making the coach for and the result this will have for them as a company.

It has started to move better as a result once I got this out of the head of production on the finance and is why I have the TM back to August 28th – literally I am running the head of production on the bus at least three times a day getting reports from him and ensuring that dones are gotten and any bugs/questions are handled.

There are two shifts on the bus and means that there are personnel on it from 7am till 12am at night. There is an estimated 9,000 man hours to go on its production and thus is 2,500 hours a week I need on it and there are currently 1,500 hours worked out to occur per week and this is being worked on by the head of production.

I am pushing them on purpose and getting the bus done for the man even before August 28th and will keep hammering them for how to get it reduced further. Naming out where time can be saved and getting this executed.

This company operates on a corporate organization tech which states people come first and I am pushing this to the hilt as well i.e. service as that is all I am asking for.

The owner and head of production repeatedly tell me that they wish I had been on the project back in Dec 2004 when Michael Doven first started it and in Feb 05 when he “signed the spec sheet” for the original design. As I literally handle any question within hours if not 10 minutes when they arise – like light fixture issues etc. I keep telling them they have no excuse not to get this bus done and it is in their best interest to get it delivered in exceptional time frame and anything they need I will handle.

Also for the four weeks that Mr. Cruise is shooting and Silver Screen is in production the owner keeps offering a brand new coach for him to use for that time period which I have refused. I want the real coach for him to shoot with.

I am going to continue to push on doing more actions on the coach concurrent in order to get the coach done for Mr. Cruise.

I have brought it back an additional 2 weeks and obviously need to continue.

Sherry is assisting at anytime I need her.

The roman shades were all sorted out and they look gorgeous.

This is ok.

ML,

P.S. One other idea I had to further get the TM brought back I could have Tommy D call and tell them that Mr. Cruise is expecting the coach on site when he starts to shoot on July 27th and that they had better deliver. I thought of using Tommy on it as part of his liability and assisting to get it done since he failed to inform that this coach was being built. Maybe this is not a good idea but thought I should communicate it.

Yvonne and Ken Schick – Give me a T for Texas!

A couple years back some Texas big wigs rammed through a deal with a Spanish construction company to build and operate toll roads (with millions in kickbacks, and free interstate travel forever lost) across this great state. In response, more than ten thousand ranchers, farmers and common folk marched on Austin. Didn’t take long for the deal to get canceled. A seventy-something year-old sod buster was interviewed at the time. He said words to this effect: people think Texas is run by the New World Order; I got news, when the beginning of the end the New World Order happens, it’ll start right here in the heart of Texas.

I’m not sure what that all has to do with this, but it was the first thing that came to my mind when I received the following announcement from a couple of major league O.T.s from Austin.

Yvonne (OT VIII) and Ken (OT VII) Schick are free and clear and independent. Ken was head of the Austin OT Committee and Yvonne was its Exec Sec. The Schicks are IAS Patrons with Honors, Ideal Org Humanitarians, SuperPower Key Contributors and have donated out the wazoo to library campaigns, planetary dissemination, you name it. Most would consider them among the leading OL’s in the area.

Give me a T for Texas!

Ken and Yvonne Schick

Dear Friends,

For a thetan there are two very essential rights: One is the right to his own sanity, and the other is the right to leave a game.”  LRH, PDC, Dec 3rd1952

Ken and Yvonne Schick hereby announce that we are withdrawing our support and leaving the organization of the Church of Scientology.

We know that we have both benefited from auditing and training we have received.  We respect L. Ron Hubbard and believe that his intention to help his fellow man was sincere.  We still consider ourselves Scientologists in that our spiritual beliefs about the nature of man and relationship with his fellow man and the universe are consistent with the principles of Scientology.  Furthermore, we will continue the application of Scientology in our daily lives.

We know that the staffs at all the orgs are filled with very caring, very dedicated individuals who would do anything to help their fellow man.

Some of you receiving this are our closest friends in the world with whom we have shared play time, work, the ups and downs and joys of life.  We realize that this decision will mean the end of our friendship with some.   We will let you decide if that is your own determinism or one enforced upon you by others.

All of that said, we can no longer support what we feel the organization has become under the leadership of David Miscavige.  We feel that LRH started a church for the purpose of bringing spiritual freedom to man and that Mr. Miscavige has morphed it into something else entirely that appears to be mostly about money and his personal aggrandizement.  We have each personally experienced the “forbidden cognition”: that our church is declining, that there is an SP behind that decline, and that the SP is David Miscavige.

There has been no single incident or source that brought us to this point.  Rather it has been years of personal experiences along with observation of events and data that finally started coming together.   For most of the last 20 years, any doubts or reservations we had were categorized as something that would get handled eventually.  We began to violate our own sense of personal decency and core values in order to be “on board”, “KSW-in”, members of the team.

More recently, we decided we must resolve our doubt and our evaluation led us to conclude that Miscavige has grossly altered LRH tech, has focused the largest percentage of the activity of the group on fundraising in one form or another, is intent on milking every dime out of every member, and (quite frankly) has gone psychotic.  For any of you who want to know more about how we came to the decision, we suggest you think for yourself and look for yourself starting with the websites that report information Mr. Miscavige does not want you to have.  We were especially moved by the letter written by OT VIII Luis Garcia.  He did a very thorough job of documenting the exact points that were there for us.  We recommend reading Luis’ letter; A Letter From Garcia.  We also recommend: Friends of LRH, Leaving Scientology, and Marty Rathbun’s blog

Our decision is made.  We do not welcome any handling from anyone who might feel so inclined or be so directed.  If anyone shows up at our home unannounced and uninvited, we will assume it can only be a “mission” and you will be asked to leave with no further discussion.  That said, we are not cutting our communication lines or disconnecting from anyone who wants to call us friend.

We do not know if retaliation will be unleashed against us.  One factor that motivated us was the malicious attacks we saw against people who decided to leave the group.  Perhaps you will be told how very “evil” we are.  Perhaps information we gave in session or to an MAA assuming confidentially will be broadcast.  Ask yourself, “What kind of church does this?”

To those of you who already know this just is not what LRH intended, we hope that our leap will give you courage to do the same for your own peace of mind.

To those of you who want to leave but feel trapped by family and business relationships, our hearts go out to you.  Keep looking, stay true to your personal integrity, and you will find a way.

To those of you who remain loyal to Miscavige’s org, we ask that you simply LOOK.  Just like LRH advised us.  Look at the real results, not the PR.  Look at the effects being created in the general public.  It has been a downhill ride since that man took over LRH’s church.

We are grateful to the bold men and women who have had the courage to leave the church run by Miscavige and then speak out publicly so that the truth is told.  We appreciate that there are committed individuals who want to keep alive LRH’s purpose and technology for helping others.

We wish all of you the brightest of New Year’s with all of the spiritual freedom you have dreamed of for the ages.  “Flourish and prosper.”  LRH, The Way to Happiness.

Sincerely,  Ken and Yvonne Schick

You Are Free To Use Scientology

Date coincident with news of Independent Training, Miscavige’s mosquitoes are swarming around all involved.  It is quite comical.  His intelligence resources are getting scarcer, and more incompetent, more rapidly than even we anticipated.  I’ll try to save him some time.  Here is what we’re up to.

There is nothing you can do about it.  So, save your publics’ hard earned donations for something more productive, like maybe building Ivory Towers.   Or don’t, the more randomity from your quarter the more interesting the game.

An Important Difference Between Radical Scientology and Independent Scientology

The following lecture passage succinctly differentiates between where the Church of Scientology is headed and where Independent Scientologists are going. It is LRH from History of Dianetics, 28 December 1954:

Phenomenna, Phenomena. Phenomena. Phenomena. They wouldn’t have turned up, don’t you see, if we hadn’t been going in a direction of ability. We’re trying to discover ability so, naturally, disabilities announce themselves and all the phenomena there is, actually could be cataloged under disabilities. So you see the direction of research? Do you see why we got someplace in Dianetics and Scientology? We’re goin in the opposite direction. We just reverse things. And instead of trying to write down, “The number of insanities are…” (fellow by the name Kraeplin did this) – number of insanities are catalog, catalog, catalog, catalog; category, category, category; catalog, catalog, catalog, catalog, category, category, category and unclassified. It’s real cute. That’s the most enormous list you ever saw in your life.

It didn’t get anybody on the road. Why? He was going around looking for disabilities, looking for disabilities, looking for disabilities, looking for more disabilities. And of course he’d find a disability, he’d simply fix on it because that’s what a disability does. So research and investigation of disabilities would continually wind people up in trouble and with set ideas – with catalogs. It would wind them up with an enormous variety of disabilities, were they able to take their attention off the last disability they’d found. But they don’t.

Let’s get a case. He starts into examination of himself and he goes right straight along. He’s doing fine, by the way, he’s just swell. He’s a hit at parties, he can play the piano with his shoes on, he can do all kinds of things. And he goes into his case on self-examination to discover what is wrong with him, since the last five girls that threw him over has given him some clue there must be something wrong with him.

So he says, “Let’s see, what’s wrong with me?” And all of a sudden he turns his attention a little bit introverted and he hits some kind of a psychic trauma. He wants to increase his ability, you see, and he hits this little trauma and it says, “The thing that’s wrong with you, Joe, is you’re no good.”

And he says, “Well, I’ll look around and see what else I can find.” [laughter]

There goes your case, fixated on one idea. Everywhere he goes, he has that idea in front of his face. What happens, though, if you actually, actively start increasing his ability? His attention comes right off that circuit – ping! And of course, another one will pop up. You take his attention off that one, another one will pop up. Off that one – another one. Off – another one! This is the reaction of the mind going toward freedom. Freedom lies beyond barriers. And as soon as you start to go in the direction of freedom, you’ll find some barriers. And the trick is not to stand around and look at these wonderful barriers inside the head.

Let’s find out how able a fellow can be and how free he can be. And if we discover this, we will discover immediately why research and investigation in the field of Dianetics and Scientology will continue to expand – because the direction toward ability is the only direction it has ever really had. The more able we can make a person, the freer he is. The more dynamics he is surviving along, the more beingness he is.

And so we are able, if we pursue ability. If we pursue disability, we are disabled.

And the first and foremost of these abilities is communication.
