Over the past year Amy Scobee has contributed a lot to exhausting the 3rd dynamic engram we have all lived. She has provided very accurate accounts (with time, place, form and event) that have helped a lot of people to better understand and evaluate their involvement in a group gone seriously awry. Amy has now completed her memoir which provides context and detail of her own narrative.
You can check out more about the book and order it at http://www.scobeepublishing.com/
“The route from death or apathy or inaction is to know something about it, take some responsibility for the state one is in and the scene and control oneself to a point where some control is put into the scene to make it go right. Then know why it went wrong, take responsibility for it and control it enough to make it go more toward an ideal scene.”Β – L. Ron Hubbard – Symbols of Dianetics and Scientology

I love that cover!

I definitely will buy it. Amy deserves a lot of credit. One more strike against the inhumanity that has become commonplace in the scientology managment. In the old days the media has files on any subject previously written about and where the reporters would go to get “background” information on a topic. It was these files where negative press on scientology was kept which kept comming back to bite the church and for which the program “snow white” was in part designed to battle. We all know how that ended in prison sentences for the GO involved. The point I am trying to make is that fast forward 30-40 years to today and the internet and there is no possible way the church managment can contain these stories like Christie and Amy are presenting. Sories not from some vested interest, but dedicated and honest believers. Its impossible. Totally impossible. They travel much faster and farther than ever before and those seeking information on scientology just need to click and not go to some nasty basement filing cabinet. There will always be some who seek to stop betterment activities like scientology was intented to be. So there is enough of a challeng and game left to improve conditions without the church managment itself becomming the 900 pound gorilla in the room. The ONLY way for “official” scientology to survive this ever increasing viral wave is to start to swim WITH the tide and REFORM. The momentum for reform will not stop. The sooner it is done, the better. Because change is comming. “Nothing stays the same” LRH
Amy,
Thank you for helping to document the very sad state of affairs that infest the current CoS management.
The dedicated rank and file staff deserve better than they are getting. And LRH’s legacy deserves better as well.

Boy, DM is gone to love this book and the picture on the front cover.
I wonder how DM is dealing with his anger and frustrations these days?
I guess if we sit down to watch a news show that has Tommy Davis on the show to defend the church of scientology and he has a black eye, we’ll have the answer to that question. π
Just as a follow up.
Imagine this: Tommy Davis comes on a news show to defend the church of scientology against the allegations that David Miscavige is beating up his staff. First, the camera is on Matt who states the accusations, then the camera cuts to Tommy and he starts talking. As he states: “Matt, these allegations are totally false, nothing but lies. David Miscavige has never laid a hand on anyone. These accusations that he is running around beating people up is insane.” While he saying it he’s got a black eye, a shinner and missing some of his front teeth. Now that would be funny! ( errr, in my opinion ) π
My order is already in, and I am working on a Library Donation Campaign. π
“…..When cruelty in the name of discipline dominates a race, that race has been taught to hate. And that race is doomed.
The real lesson is to learn to love.
He who would walk scatheless through his days must learn this……” – LRH – ‘What is Greatness’.
An ideal that REAL Scientologists understand and attempt to emulate.
Amy, I ordered your book and can’t wait to read it.
Much much success! ML Fidelio
Fabulous book cover! Can’t wait to read it.
– Chrissie hurry up back home with my books! π
The guy on the left bears a striking resemblance to DM, LOL. I like how they have DM in a black tee shirt while strangling someone who is obviously a Sea Org member. I don’t think DM considers himself to be a Sea Org member anyways; he sure doesn’t live like one!
Marty,
Got a question for you: I completely understand shining the light on abuses like this. However, where is the line (is there a line) between shining the light on DM and his crap, and bringing all of Scientology down because of him?
I just see this as a baby in bathwater kinda thing. Scientology could end up buried in a pile of rubble, all because of DM. And dusting Scientology off after the fact may prove rather difficult.
Does this make sense? I’m curious to know your thoughts on this.
Boz, Shining the light is part of the process of ressurecting Scientology from the demise DM is heading it toward. Read the LRH quote at the bottom of the post on Amy’s book.
Amy,
It just occured to me…..that cover on your book.
I see Ralph Fiennes playing the part of the bad guy. His victim is played by Elijah Wood.
Just a note in case a movie is in the offing….

Amy I ordered the book and looking forward to the read. To all the authors of the books that have been published good job. It certainly raises one’s confront to read what really happened and that together with some of the history I have read online wow ! I feel as though what LRH wrote about was his own organization and where is was headed. I know I am working through it all and it has been and continues to be one hell of a ride.
Thanks so much, Amy Scobee for writing this book. Like Blown for Good, Counterfeit Dreams, My Billion Year Contract, and a handful of blog archives, it’s destined to become part of the historical documentation of the reasons behind the destruction of the c of m.
When I first saw the book’s cover it kind of stopped me cold. It actually repulsed me, and part of me protested at seeing another person being so mistreated. What it portrays is brutish and objectionably violent. I think that pretty much makes it a perfect illustration of what has dm has done to not only scientologists but also scientology. I hope it sells millions of books.
I’ve already ordered mine, and I would like to suggest that others also order multiples. I’ve found that people who will not yet venture onto the internet in search of information will sometimes accept and read a book given by a friend.
The problem I have with the way the book is titled is this. The word “Scientology” means knowing how to know. By having the word “Scientology” at the top makes it look like the book is about Scientology when it’s about abuses in the church of scientology. One person abusing another person is not Scientology.
As I’ve said before, the Church of Scientology and Scientology are two different things. I don’t like to see these two things being identified. I think the way she has the book titled might cause her some legal troubles with the church down the road.
Good job Amy!! A great cover for all to see. LOL
The cover resembles someone I know he must be seething with anger
Scotch Tim, shiploads of Scotch and cigarettes.
That qoute reminds me of the ways of the Spartans often celebrated for their vigor but with a totally messed up sociΓ«ty ideal.
I almost suspect that the same artist has done these covers as the latest editions of LRH books. Same Style. It will be familiar looking to Church members. Amee’s name will ring big bells too and the titel is catchy. “A must read it now, can not wait book”
Heraclitus:
“Whosoever wishes to know about the world must learn about it in its particular details.
Knowledge is not intelligence.
In searching for the truth be ready for the unexpected.
Change alone is unchanging.
The same road goes both up and down.
The beginning of a circle is also its end.
Not I, but the world says it: all is one.
And yet everything comes in season.”
– Heraklietos of Ephesos
Albert Einstein:
“True religion is real living; living with all one’s soul, with all one’s goodness and righteousness.”
Bozz,
Scientology is a body of data. Knowledge. Knowledge that can help individuals discover truth. One of the fundamental “truths” of Scientology is that the best solution to a problem is one that does “the greatest good for the greatest number of dynamics.” Right there, if you look at the current scene, you can see why the Sea Org is in such a steep decline, and it’s failure is assured. By bypassing the 1st and 2nd dynamics, and concentrating on the 3rd, it is not practicing “the greatest good”. And while they may state they are “the most ethical group on the planet” that “group” is composed of some seriously out-ethics individuals.
Further, you may recall from Creation of Human Ability, that the subject of inverted dynamics is covered. A failure on the 1st inverts a person on to the 8th. A failure on the 2nd inverts to the 7th. A FAILURE ON THE 3rd inverts to the 6th! (Current Church of Mestology dramatization) And just to complete the picture, a failure on the 4th inverts to the 5th.
They current emphasis on bright shiny buildings is simply a dramatization of the failure of the group, and leaders to handle and grow the 3rd dynamic. There are many individuals around who are not caught up in that dramatization, and who are being, doing and having successfully across their dynamics.
Which includes making Scientology available for those who so desire it. The Miscavige Era will go down as a dark period, but truth will always manifest.
Boz,
Also read Science of Survival. Tone Scale data applies. What happens to a group lead by someone who’s insane? The group itself becomes insane, contaigion of abberation. The Church of Scientology, unfortunately has already been brought down quite a few notches already because of DM.
I’m ordering my book this week. I can hardly wait for the anniversary of Dianetics, May 9th when your book will be released! It’s the one event I won’t be missing this year LOL. You are too much girl…!!
haha I ordered two but I don’t have them yet…. =)
Tape 1, FEBC Law #1:”You put there a stable terminal from which you can expand by putting in stable terminals to expand to. Now, this then makes a sequence of stable terminals.” LRH
Kinda like this website!
I guess something else I need to remember is: “The way out is the way through.”
Y’all, I’ve been off lines way too long. Pardon me while fumble… alot. π
Amy,
Not only is the cover great (title and all) and the fact that is it is being released on May 9th, but your publishing name and logo “Scobee Publishing” or “SP”. How clever… It’s all so in your face DM. He must be pulling his hair out. You go girl! My order is in.
Thank you so much for all of your replies. The LRH quote Marty included at the top of this thread is just perfect.
Part of controlling someone’s mind is INFORMATION CONTROL. If you are only allowed to know what someone feeds you as “knowledge” (such as the unprecedented expansion of Scientology, how well your donations are being utilized, what a peacemaker Miscavige is, etc.) , then you can’t actually make sane decisions. Deny a person the information he requires to make sound judgments, and he will be incapable of doing so.
Lunamoth, I think you’re right and I have gotten orders from several people, requesting the book be sent to someone else that they want to enlighten about what goes on within the top ranks of their church.
On the book cover, it was designed by Jeff Hawkins. He is one of the people I witnessed Miscavige physically assault. Designing the cover must have been somewhat therapeutic for him…
Love to all,
Amy
You have a point, Linda. I’d like to read the current S.O.S., but I have concerns about it’s status given the nature of Int these days. Marty is working on a post regarding a book he’s found an alteration in. Anxiously awaiting his news on that. My favorite book to, no less.
That cover is amazing. There it is … a thousand words.
Congratulations and thank you Amy Scobee!
Hi Amy, and Steve,
Will you make the book available as a PDF file download, as well as a printed book, please?
You can publish both versions of the book on Lulu.com at no cost to you. They pay you royalties, and you can charge whatever you like.
This would make it available confidentially to those of us in the public who have children in the S.O. and would like to remain anonymous.
Thank you for your courage and responsibility, Amy. We’re looking forward to reading your book.
Bozz,
Scientology, the Church, the Field, Independents, the whole works, has bullet proof armor; it’s ideals, ethic and rationale, all in the bands above MEST.
The best insurance for yourself and the future is to study hard and audit alot and get to the point where you know this stuff so well you could rewrite it if you ended up on Arcturus and forgot your notes. Or, for that matter, Earth with DM at the helm.
DM, contrary to Sue Wilhere’s opinion, is NOT the organism that is the CofS, NOT Scientology. He’s one guy with an SP case. Propped up by some PTSes.
Get on study, audit, the real joy of this whole thing is there still, and will be for those who move forward to partake and use it to help the next guy that reaches.
Not happening,
I rather think Tommy is likely getting promoted, just like TC got the highest award for getting so much business for big Pharma. Tommy is doing his job just fine, it’s just that most of us thought he was supposed to defend the Religion not trash it.
Amy,
Thanks for doing your courageous part to Keep Scientology Working !!
Norman Starkey, Mark Yaeger and Ray Mithoff were all in the HGB yesterday. All dressed up in suits and ties and looking VERY serious.
You and all others who take a stand and speak out are creating a very big effect right at the top where it is needed the most.
Interested in the Inverted dynamics refernce. What page? or Chapter? Thanks
Tim H:
The sub-title clarifies that it is the Church of Scientology management specifically under discussion. Learn to read.
“I think the way she has the book titled might cause her some legal troubles with the church down the road.”
This is nicely vague. Are you an attorney?
How about you tell us what sort of legal troubles you anticipate and on exactly what basis ?
Michael A. Hobson
Thanks Amy
Amy
The cover has a definite impact aligning with the ‘Art Series’. Also I’m glad that Jeff found designing it therapeutic.
Also by the buzz on Marty’s blog I suspect this book is going to be a best seller!
Hi Sam and Chrissie – The official release date is May 9th… but for the first 200 orders, they’ll get signed advance copies. And I have your orders!
xo, Amy
CC,
.
It is page 154 in the latest ed. of CoHA (Yah, I got a full set of basics on EBay for $40.00) The text is in R2-39 Conceiving Something Interesting, for other editions.
Hello Amy,
Congratulations on your book!
I didn’t realize this until just now, after viewing your site, but I used to know your mother and her husband very well; extremely well, in fact. I know they left staff a while back but are they still church members or are they now part of the Independant Field?
Hi Tom,
Your post made me think. DM likes to position Scientology as being in it’s “Golden Age” of tech.
Actually I feel that Scientology is in it’s “Dark Age”.
The stuff that Scientology does is straight out of that time period. Witch hunts, cutting comm or “shunning” through disconnection. RPF where the RPF’rs cannot talk to other public and have to run everywhere, etc.
Is this really a modern religion using the highest tech available to Man??
I think Scientology has some great tech, but when co-mingled with all this other garbage it degrades the tech itself.
Alex the “Apostate”
Hi Amy,
Very cool that you are telling it like it is.
Your testimony on the Truth Rundown helped to “close me” on the suppression at the top. You are very believable.
Ordered your book and I hope it is a best seller!!
Alex
My husband and I ordered our copy, can’t wait! Will it also be available on Kindle?
Congratulations Amy ~
I ordered the first day it was announced and will get a bunch more for those sitting on the fence…..
Amy, I want to tell you that your St Petersburg Times video was very well spoken as well. Good job.
I’m scoping out all of the various means to produce the book — Kindle, PDF format, soft-back, leather-bound special edition (just kidding). It’s being released as a hard back book initially and then I’ll take it from there.
Love, Amy
How about Peter Lorre?
To Mike Hobson:
For one, the word “Scientology” is a trademark of RTC. Marty, please correct me if I’m wrong here.
When Marc Headley wrote his book he titled it “Blown for Good” which is a unique name and title. For example, if you write a book and use the word “Microsoft” at the top in order to boast sales, Microsoft is going to come after you because that word is trademarked by them.
Over the years, the church of scientology and LRH spend millions of advertisement dollars promoting the word “Scientology” and by putting that at the top of her book she sort of getting the benefit and profiting from that.
Titling the book “Scientology” when whatβs in the book is not about the subject of “Scientology” but about things the people did in the church of scientology is misleading. I have nothing against Amy writing a book about her experiences in the church I just thought titling the book “Scientology” was a bad idea, for the reasons I explained above.
I suggest she and you ask Marty Rathbun about this and see what he has to say.
What a great quote, CD!
Jim,
” . . . all in the bands above MEST.”
That’s the key. Knowledge and theta cannot be brought down, even if the name “Scientology” is smeared in the process of bringing down the current C of M. The body of theta knowledge is a static that will survive any cataclysm.
With that said, it would be very helpful to differentiate “Scientology” from “The Church of Scientology” to the full extent possible.
KSW,
I thought that at least Mark Yaeger and Ray Mithoff were locked up in the hole. Have all the Int Execs been freed?
Amy,
I’d love to order your book for the Kindle as soon as possible! That’s how I read Blown for Good and My Billion Year Contract. It allows condfidentiality (and boosts a book’s stats on Amazon too).
Amy — I look forward to reading this; having my own soft place for Celebrity Centers (having started at CCLA) and having done visited CC NY, CC Toronto and CC Mexico on behalf of Yvonne in the early days.
Very brave of you to have left. Washington State is a favorite of mine. Good place to land and plenty of rain to wash away any of that yuk left from int π
WH
Looks good Amy, I’ll get a copy.
Hope to have made it amongst the first 200, Amy! What a treasure getting it with your signature!
ML, Fidelio
Buzz I’m surprised you would post here with that kind of question. Do you have certainty that Miscavige wants to see Scientology destroyed, and you and your kids slaughtered 1000 times 1000 because they don’t have Scientology disenturbulating the planet? Because if you don’t have certainty then a better question would be what gives me that certainty that things aren’t “sort of OK” at all. The stats are down since DM took over, continutally, and only after he took over. Are you aware of the evidence for that?
Only a complete psychotic would stop auditor training for good and make sure it stays that way forever by keeping their position and going all out on a PR campaign via events to convince every Scientologist that that’s how you expand and win.
There’s lots more than that. Ask some of those kinds of questions instead.
I’ve tried everything possible and so have lots of other people here. In fact I’m still in comm with OSA trying to get them to help kick out Miscavige, even though I know they’d rather sit back and have us fix it. And I know that they’re very happy that we’re here too. Lots of people in the church are breathing a huge sigh of relief that someone has some balls finally.
If you have a better suggestion then why not talk about it? The actions we’re doing here are the only path towards saving Scientology, because OSA are cowards. I say OSA specifically because they have the FULL picture, they read the websites and have all the viewpoints. And they could do a whole whole lot more than intentional ham-fisted BS. In fact it’s criminal that they’re not, so what are we to do but keep up ramping up the pressure and going to Scientologists directly so we can all as a big group say we’ve had enough of the bullshit and kick Miscavige out!
Tim, Scientology is the name of the religion Amy worked to forward for decades. She is ABSOLUTELY entitle to use the word, and most particularly in a memoir of her life.
Well the pressure is on DM right?
So he must produce something “tangible” LRH Birthday event is really soon now. I think live from Flag. He cannot afford to do this solo at this point. So we’ll see a few others. And there are email notices now that OT IX and SuperPower will be released in 2010 per management directive:
“This is a simple statement of facts:
Superpower is coming this year. OT IX is coming this year. These are stated objectives from Int Management, and the SO teams involved are flat out to make these happen.”
Another lost tech perfected: Illusion Tech?
Boyd, if you find offense in my questions, well, I’m sorry for that. You obviously don’t know me, so I’ll sum up.
The extent of my scientology consists of 1) no knowledge of its existance, joined staff at Austin Fdn, after 6 months, I went LA for FEBC training, finished that and was sent back to Austin as PPO. Ran into a huge ethics wall and PTS situation and in less than 6 months, walked away from it.
I have no doubt in the tech. I have no doubt that Ron found the way out of the mess. I have personal wins in scientology that have me totally convinced the tech is worth pursuing and saving and getting out of the hands of someone like DM.
Only 3 days ago did I come across this site. That I can send an e-mail, and get a response from Marty, a former I.G no less, absolutly blows me away! My needle has been floating for the first time in 15 years just from finding this site!
Okay, so I have concerns about the books that are out now. I have concerns of the PR nightmare “scientology” as a whole will have to dig out of. I’m 99.9% sure I’m not as trained as you, and so my questions come from ignorance and lack of source for all these years. I’m trying to reconnect with people who ARE on source. If I bobble along the way, or say the wrong thing, it is not to insult anyone or cast doubt. It’s because I’m looke for reassurance that I’m in the right place, with the right people, and doing the right things.
Right now, I’m just trying to get outta non-e on this website. Had I an ethics books, I’d probably have to back up a few conditions!
So, I’m really starting from scratch. Please do not be offended. Hell, I’m just glad to be here!
Boyd, that is a good point for counter attack on OSA people if they choose to ham-fist; they have the FULL picture on what is going on and they have ALL the viewpoints and yet are continuing misleading Scientologists and lying to them. If you’ve got these people as “friends”, there is no need anymore for feinds.
Mark Twain:
“There are some books that refuse to be written. They stand their ground year after year and will not be persuaded. It isn’t because the book is not there and worth being written — it is only because the right form of the story does not present itself. There is only one right form for a story and if you fail to find that form the story will not tell itself.”
Marty,
Ok. Please understand, I trust your judgment on this matter.
Just to clarify, you are saying that her using the word “Scientology” the way it is being used on the cover won’t cause her any trademark issues with RTC?
Are you also saying that you don’t feel that her writing a book subject that, ( well lets be honest is negative ) about the abuse in the church of scientology won’t hurt or drag through the mud the body data called “Scientology”?
Are you saying “no” to both questions?
Tim H,
“Over the years, the church of scientology and LRH spend millions of advertisement dollars promoting the word βScientologyβ and by putting that at the top of her book she sort of getting the benefit and profiting from that.”
Why shouldn’t Amy benefit from this? I reckon she’s given enough years to CoS at no pay, and is certainly owed something. I really doubt that this will come close to making up for all the lost wages.
Tim, I guess what I am saying is: read and contemplate today’s post.
Tim Scientology proclaims to be a religion therefore it can not call upon Trademark of the name Scientology even if they have it trademarked. If they want the trademark to stand they MUST admit they are a bussiness They will never do that. They will LIE to you to try to shudder you into silenceeven sue you.
It is BECAUSE the church is a church they can not invoke trademark upon the name. Can’t have it both ways. either you are a religion or you are a bussiness.
Tim the other Argument is that Amy has beside Freedom of religion alsoo Freedom of speech wich this book is an expression of.
If I wanted to right a book about MC Donalds I can put MC Donalds on the cover too and they are a Bussiness with their trademarked name.
Dear Amy,
You are amazing and thank you for getting the truth out. I love your book cover.
Thank you for being there and communicating.
XOXOX
Thanks Bozz, I think I was too harsh. This is where I’m coming from.
There’s a tremendous amount of confusion which has to blow off for Scientology to succeed due to the barriers erected to the Bridge and we have to continue confronting those barriers no matter what.
Scientology cannot be destroyed by us. Stats are the thing to worry about, and I’d advise keeping this foremost in your mind always:
Stats are caused internally.
If DM believed in following the tech then
a. We wouldn’t be doing this.
b. Even if we were still doing this, we’d have the effect of a mosquito on a mac truck. Word of mouth alone destroys any imaginary barrier. It would make us completely ignorable to the wave of traffic going into orgs.
Word of mouth from:
-a proper div 6 with successful basic courses
-standard auditing tech and training
-people excited about training because it’s fast (100’s in the courserooms like in the 70’s)
– Missions not suppressively cut from reaching and
– the IAS not creating an unsafe environment in the org etc etc
and much more, would create an unstoppable force-field for Scientology.
That’s the only true force-field that can ever be created – with those points in. Yet Miscavige insists that Scientology have none of that, and cover up the deficiency with token Volunteer Minister PR and event promises PR. He knows this type of setup is how you drop the ball for Scientology yet continues. No real ethics change in the past year.
S0 asking him politely to change back to the usual and workable when he’s used an atomic branding iron to ensure it never changes back, (and he’s signed his name to all these changes at events) won’t work.
If you feel tactics are wrong, lead us back on course in an effective way. I’ll always express a disagreement but I’ll try and tone it down.
The future will become very bright and this will work out. Everyone including Miscavige will get up the Bridge and win. Everyone deserves case gain.
“It wasn’t a question of what I could do or what my ability was: that was not the question. The question is: is what does it take to get it done? Is that a different look? It’s what do you have to be able to do to get it done. All right. Well, you look at it that way, well
you just skip your limitations, and you say, ‘Well, if that’s what it takes to get it done, well, we’ll just, you know somehow or another we will get it done.
And, of course, being apathetic, being restimulated, being upset, having a headache, not wanting to, thinking it’s
really best to dramatize the opposition terminal today – all of these things all add up to, of course, not getting it done – so you just wash those out and skip them.
You see the forthright look that it takes.”
– LRH, from a lecture given on 23 Nov 1961
Auxiliary Pre-Have 3D Scale
In my opinion this two step process is how it’ll go:
1. Do everything possible to preserve the tech in the Church.
2. Never give up on step 1 but if Miscavige bunkers in, or even before then, start new orgs and missions at a mad rate. Scientologists can then decide which is their Church, and we can show Miscavige what a real Div 6 and co-audit courseroom looks like, for example. I’m going to start this if no-one else does, it’s a very viable idea. (Helmut’s wife is starting it actually).
Tim,
“Are you also saying that you donβt feel that her writing a book subject that, ( well lets be honest is negative ) about the abuse in the church of scientology wonβt hurt or drag through the mud the body data called βScientologyβ?”
The answer is: It depends on the content of the book.
Hi Bozz,
I got that you are just now seeing this site. It is a bit of a learning curve. It is understandable to ask questions at first and for a long time acually.
Sometimes at first you may ask a question that hits a “nerve” from someone who has been at this for awhile and may not appreciate what they feel is a “non-confront” or “naive”.
We all go through the learning curve so don’t get discouraged. Keep being there and communicating it is encouraged here, but that doesn’t mean you might not get “nipped” from time to time.
ARC,
Alex
Something’s brewing I can feel it.
Marty,
With all due respect, 1000 pardons and all that, why did you avoid giving me a direct answer to the question I asked? It was a simple “yes” or “no” question, was it not? With your permission, I will ask it again.
Do you feel that Amy writing a book where the word “Scientology” is at the top of the book where the subject matter is not about “Scientology” but about the abuse in the church of scientology will hurt or drag through the mud the body data called βScientologyβ?
Cat Daddy, I hear what you are saying and you have a point.
My question is, why would the organization that issued the church of scientology a trademark on a word in the first place if it was not enforceable?
Why would’t the agency that grants trademarks come to the same conclusion you did and say “hey, Scientology is a religion, you can’t trademark a religion” and not give them the trademark in the first place?
The Church has never had to take it this far. Was never challenged to this extend. They “fixed” everything with a shipload of Lawyers to enterbulate any person wanting to get a book published. And they scared the shit out of publishers.
“If attacked on some vulnerable point by anyone or anything or any organization, always find or manufacture enough threat against them to cause them to sue for peace. Peace is bought with an exchange of advantage, so make the advantage and then settle. Don’t ever defend. Always attack. Don’t ever do nothing. Unexpected attacks in the rear of the enemy’s front ranks work best.”
– L. Ron Hubbard, Hubbard Communications Office Policy Letter, “Department of Governmental Affairs”, 15 Aug 1960
and
“The purpose of the suit is to harass and discourage rather than to win. The law can be used very easily to harass, and enough harassment on somebody who is simply on the thin edge anyway, well knowing that he is not authorized, will generally be sufficient to cause his professional decease. If possible, of course, ruin him utterly.”
– L. Ron Hubbard, A MANUAL ON THE DISSEMINATION OF MATERIAL, 1955
The onley answer I can come up with that Scientology poses as a bussiness when it gets litigious. I think a trademark agency clerck could easily persuaded to make it “go right”
Whatever the truth is, If this thruth is seen as unbenificial for the church their tactic is creating a BIG cloud to obscure.
There is a hidden Amendment in America. “The Right to seu anyone and anything” and the church always has found an allie in this.
The onley one that really could answer your question is the agency.
Am I right that trademark agencys are FOR PROFIT organizations in the USA ? Because that could explain it. Money talks.
Tim H.:
You never answered me as to whether you were a lawyer or not .
Disclaimer: I am not a lawyer.
“Scientology” is only a trademark for a specific “applied religious philosophy” and only someone doing business as an “applied religious philosophy”.
Trademarked names may appear in the title of books according to this court ruling:
“Literary titles do not violate the Lanham Act ‘unless the title has no artistic relevance to the underlying work whatsoever, or, if it has some artistic relevance, unless the title explicitly misleads as to the source or the content of the work.'” Twin Peaks Prods. v. Publ’ns Int’l, Ltd., 996 F.2d 1366, 1379 (2d Cir. N.Y. 1993) (citing Rogers v. Grimaldi, 875 F.2d 994, 999 (2d Cir. 1989))”
Nobody is going to mistake Amy’s book, which clearly is intended to expose abuse by Church of Scientology upper management, for a Church of Scientology publication about the “applied religious philosophy”.

OH! I am so going to buy this book!! ~
“The Church has never had to take it this far. Was never challenged to this extend. They βfixedβ everything with a shipload of Lawyers to enterbulate any person wanting to get a book published. And they scared the shit out of publishers.”
What makes you think the church of scientology isn’t going to run this routine on Amy?
MH, I will gladly explain to you what I am when you explain to me:
1. How what I am makes any difference in this situation since all one needs is common sense.
2. How what I am is any business of yours?
“Nobody is going to mistake Amyβs book, which clearly is intended to expose abuse by Church of Scientology upper management, for a Church of Scientology publication about the βapplied religious philosophyβ.
“Nobody”? Not one person on the planet?
Isn’t the word “Nobody” a generality?
What is they say about people who speak in generalities?
Didn’t she also have the same person that had done the Scientology books in the past do her book? Don’t you think that is going to cause her book and the Scientology books to look even more simliar and give RTC more grounds?
Well, only time will tell, we’ll see what happens.
I was wondering what “agency” you meant CD.
Obviously, not the one Boris worked or may work for.
Actually Copyrights is an office established under the Constitution. Not an Agency.
CIA for example is an Agency.
Also, you should study your history, so you understand why those policies exist and why it was the First Substance and Duty of HCO at one time to protect the copyrights and trademarks of Scientology.
It had nothing to do with money and had every thing to do with protecting the public from the depredations of squirrels like Miscavige for instance.
Of course the only reason such safeguards wouldn’t work. Is when you have a Government that either consents to or supports squirreling by approving it and assist the squirrels in going after any one who applies Standard Tech.
RJ. Thank you for your explanation. I just wanted to point out that some trademarks can not be upheld.
Tim H – my book is going out, regardless of who would like to see it buried before it’s release. You’re on some sort of roll about this, which I could understand if it were coming from OSA. But, whatever — freedom of speech is a basic human right. So, have at it!
Love, Amy
Lol @ the leather-bound edition. Can I have an Amy bracelet with that? π
Congratulations, Amy. You deserve great success with this venture and I hope many souls are saved as a result of your writing.
By the way, Amy Scobee is the cousin of the hero, who gave his life saving others, Roland L. Scobee!
