Two Very Essential Rights

Here are some thoughts to consider in the establishment of rights of community. The following excerpts are from Philadelphia Doctorate Course lecture #10 Specific Parts of Self-determinism, Spacation.

“For a thetan there are two very essential rights: One is the right to his own sanity, and the other is the right to leave a game…”

“…Probably the hardest thing a man has to take is when he has to enslave himself to something which is not of his own choice and permits himself to be placed in time and space not of his own choice…”

“…Two very essential rights, and that is: the right to his own sanity, and the right to leave a game, which boils down to the right to have an exertion of self-determinism, and the right to locate himself in some other universe if he suddenly chooses to.

“It’s all right for people to have a right, but if they don’t have the capability, the right is meaningless. So the right depends to some extent, in any case, upon an education about the right. Well, therefore, you restore these things – you get freedom, and that’s what we’re trying to do. And you should ask yourself, once in a while, when you’re processing preclears, are you sending them in that direction? If you’re sending them in that direction, you’re being very successful.”

Seems to me this is a great index to use to determine whether one is delivering or receiving Scientology processing or Reverse Scientology. Is the processing being delivered with the intention and toward the direction of clarifying and strengthening these rights?

Whether one formally recieves or delivers processing or not, I think these two essential rights ought to be validated and honored in our dealings with one another. It is a handy index. Does your third dynamic encourage sanity? That is, does it assist you to better percieve differences, similarities and identities? Or does it attempt to dull such perception by continually forcing upon you propaganda that requires you to check your perceptions at the door? And when your personal integrity is being so tried, is the felony compounded by discouragement of your right to leave a game, or to relocate yourself?

Great observation and great LRH references. Another view on what thousands of active public and staff have given up to stay connected. Its like a bad marriage where someone is always having their reach cut and staying in it “for the kids”. In our cases we stay in it so we dont loose “friends” and family. A sorry state of affairs. Hopefully the LRH references will get through the blinders that the institution has placed on their members so when they are brave enough to look, the truth will set them free.

  2. In my opinion, listening to LRH lectures only points out the gap between how the church of scientology is in present time and where it should be.

The problem is dealing with the church of scientology ( church of miscavige ) without hurting the technology of Scientology and Dianetics. We don’t want to throw the baby out with the bath water.

I recall LRH saying something to the effect ( please correct me if I’m wrong ) that Scientology in the wrong hands can be one of the greatest slave making tools this planet has ever seen.

We have to guard against this happening.

  3. I think Miscavige and some other staff members in the church are using the truth in Scientology and Dianetics as a shield to hide behind.

As if you strike them you’re striking and suppressing Scientology data it’s self.

I thinks important to keep these two things differentiated.

  4. Wonderful quotes. Thank you. It is very inspiring to see these applicable LRH quotes in this blog.

Indicates to me that you and others are continuously studying LRH, seeing just how relevant his words are to the current evolving scene.

I glanced today at a stack of aphorisms/quotes from the Dalai Lama that I try to change from time to time — and meditate on during my day:

    “Ethics:

When discipline is imposed from the outside, it may be problematic.

But when it comes from the inside, with knowledge of what is helpful and what is harmful, then we develop the wish to refrain from what is harmful.

This discipline is imposed by our own mind, with an understanding of the consequences and the benefits of our actions.” (HH Dalai Lama)

  5. With regard to:

. . . Probably the hardest thing a man has to take is when he has to enslave himself to something which is not of his own choice and permits himself to be placed in time and space not of his own choice . . .

How can someone choose what time it is?

  6. Cool!

Today I got an email from AOSH EU about Power processing. The link was connected as usual to a video.

    Therein we find this LRH-quote:

    “Man can seldom handle power.

He retreats from it or abuses it.

When he has it he often misdirects it.

To have it and handle it is attained as Grade V Release.”

    – LRH –

The first three sentences describe perfectly what can be seen in DM (dumb man, dead man, dully mind… whatever)

No doubt on that, I guess.

Questions start with the last sentence.

When did DM complete Grade V???

If the churchies complete it, how could they ever use it?

”It’s all right for people to have a right, but if they don’t have the capability, the right is meaningless.” LRH

And we all know, they do not have this capability within the chains of CoM.

So, the viewpoint of the church has to be:

Make sure, they will never ever really get the right EP – because they will probably leave the church.

“…the other is the right to leave a game…” LRH

    Conclusion:

“So the right depends to some extent, in any case, upon an education about the right. Well, therefore, you restore these things – you get freedom, and that’s what we’re trying to do. And you should ask yourself, once in a while, when you’re processing preclears, are you sending them in that direction? If you’re sending them in that direction, you’re being very successful.”

Becasue CoM does not lead in that direction, the final fall of DM is just a matter of time.

What should not be misunderstood as a calling to sit and wait.

    Acutally it is a prediction.

WH, Thanks. Or put another way, “ETHICS consists simply of the actions an individual take on himself. It is a personal thing. When one is ethical or “has his ethics in”, it is by his own determinism and is done by himself” – LRH, The Basics of Ethics

  8. martyrathbun09

Tim H, you mean like this one from Sue Wilhere (now head of “LRH” Authorization and Verification Unit)?:
“Rathbun’s and Rinder’s attack on Mr. Miscavige is an attack on Scientology, L. Ron Hubbard, my friends and me…Mr Miscavige is Scientology…Their attack on Mr. Miscavige is a direct attack on L. Ron Hubbard and on Scientology — they are not seperable.”

  9. Pwer of Choice is senior to responsibility. How come DM does not follow that LRH policy?

  10. martyrathbun09

Tim H, here is one place he said it in PDC lecture FORMATIVE STATE OF SCIENTOLOGY DEFINITION OF LOGIC: “This universe has long been looking for new ways to make slaves. Well, we’ve got some new ways to make slaves here. Let’s see that none are made.” Just prior to that in the lecture he instructed HOW to assure that, “Don’t ever think that a monopoly of this subject is a safe thing to have. It’s not safe. It’s not safe for man; it’s not safe for this universe.”

  11. How ironic. The Church is acting as if one of these basic rights must be denied in order to provide the other one.

  12. It sounds like Sue has a problem recognizing similarities and differences, wow!

  13. Nice article Marty;

First we are slaves to our own self-created banks, then slaves to the implants that put us in our current state, then this planet, then drugs, then money, then credit cards, then the whole social machinery.

Then we find out about Scientology and how it can get us out of all of the traps and be free again to choose our own paths only to get trapped by DM in IAS regging “to save the planet”, the “Ideal Orgs Projects”, the Sea Org where the top staff make good money and the lower Sea Org members are 18/7 slaves, Staff in lower orgs who stay on board to keep them open even though there is no management.

Talk about a betrayal of trust.

  14. blip,
    What is time?

  15. when one is forced or coerced by pain of consequences to get up, go to bed, eat or not eat, lights on, lights off … (get the idea?) at certain times by someone else’s command, not themself by their own choice, then that person is “placed in time…not of his own choice”

and IMO, in every type of prison, there is at least a small degree of agreement with it — the “permits himself to be…”

  16. Blip,
To be fair, here’s a definition:
“o “Time is an abstract manifestation which has no existence beyond the idea of time occasioned by objects, where an object may be either energy or matter.” 8-8008 under HAVINGNESS.
“As was earlier discovered in Scientology, the single arbitrary is time. This is because
time did not exist as such but stemmed from havingness.” ibid.

This may be difficult for one to encompass “since time may continue to exist for him as an
entity, an unknown and hovering thing.” ibid.

  17. The little ‘o’ preceding the definition is a typo on my part. JL

  18. The.believer,
Interesting data is that Power is one of the Grades applied to handle the ‘SP case’. See PL 5 April 65 Handling the Suppressive Person, The Basis of Insanity.

  19. You touch on a very pertinent point, Marty, and Sue W’s misguided sentiments proves what we’re up against.

It’s the gravitational pull of having given an allegiance and not wanting to betray that allegiance.

The able, responsible, courageous being will do whatever they can to keep their word and stand by their cause because to that kind of being betrayal is the act of a snivelling coward. And so when things are not right, they’ll look to themselves as the problem, not to – for example – DM because EVERYONE KNOWS “David Miscavige IS Scientology”.

And in Scientology, we reinforce that kind of thinking with the idea of “blowing”; that is, you HAD to leave because of your own overts. So, again, the good being believing the cause is above reproach is interiorized about their own shortcomings. This is what started the monks whipping their backs till they bled.

It’s a very real example of what the Ol’ Man was talking about when he spoke of methods of enslavement.

What better way to keep a being imprisoned than to let them be both inmate and prison guard?

In my own experience, the way to truly know whether you’ve done the right thing in leaving the game is this: Do you feel relieved?

Years ago, I was working for a very degraded individual – classic 1.1 – but the money was very good and, more importantly, I’d given him my word that I would stay.

So I was stuck. I couldn’t compromise my integrity, I was making a lot of money but I didn’t want to wake up in the mornings because I knew where I had to go.

One Friday I went to lunch and it dawned on me that I didn’t have to go back to my office.

I can’t tell you how much mental mass went flying off my head with that simple cognition. Simple, but a long time coming.

This is what we’re up against and the reason I think eventually we prevail.

  20. That’s a perfect example of what I was referring to.

I can’t believe that she would be so blatant in her attempts of identification. It looks so very A=A=A to me. The idea that Miscavige is Scientology is absurd. How is a man a body of data?

Didn’t LRH and Scientology exist long before David Miscavige came along? You could probably run a process to separate the two out.

I would be willing to bet that whenever a good Scientologist has had trouble with speaking out in public against the church of scientology it’s was because of this. I can tell you that it certainly was a big factor for me.

  21. Marty what a wonderful article. Gets one thinking and after reading this it totally became clear to me why I chose to leave. I realized you cannot be totally free by totally saying to yourself “what I know is not true.” One does not get up the bridge by not disagreeing. It is your right to find what is true for you. This was a good one for me. Thanks Carol

  22. Our OSA Roman goddess Minerva, after at first pretending not to have the time to offer an answer to “Why did DM get to take over the CoS”, came up with these pearls of wisdom.

Listen for the echoes of Chairman Mao’s publicist in these words …

“If you read the LRH Declaration 1983 on this site you will see that LRH trusted DM to handle his affairs. As far as I know, LRH handed his hat to him. Some squirrels say the hat was handed to Pat Broeker, but that is not believable. Even Marty, who has nothing nice to say at all about COB, when asked about this point said that “Pat Broeker couldn’t organize a 2 car funeral.” Hardly the man for the job.

To me, the issue is irrelevant. The hat is worn by the biggest thetan; the one that can get the job done. From 1983 when I first met him, until now, there has only ever been one man for the job in my book, and he has it. Had he not been there we would in all likelihood have lost Scientology in the various attacks. That is my, and many many other people’s reality too. Reality based on having been in the trenches.

In short sumpinsumpin, the answer to your question as to how DM came to hold the top position in Scientology because as a Being, a Thetan, he stands head and shoulders above anyone else.

The squirrels make me laugh. I have heard them suggest there should be a vote for the COB post. If there was one now, guess who would win it, hands down? Who would have won it in 1986? Or any year after that? Same man.”

So, the key is AS FAR AS MINERVA KNOWS, LRH handed DM his hat, even though she’s been on DM’s lines since 1983 she doesn’t know for sure. But the real point is that none of that matters because DM’s the biggest being, standing head and shoulders above everyone else.

    What, just like LRH?

    Or maybe a little higher?

  23. One reason, I believe, is due to the latter day definition of Responsibility:
“The NON-Recognition and DENIAL OF THE RIGHT OF INTERVENTION between oneself and any idea, mass, space, time, object, etc…”
(This may not be exact, as I don’t have the text to hand.) But you see here, in this definition, you have Not-is-ness and Force being entered in to the concept of “responsibility”.

Who benefits the most from an action definition like this?

And what does it do to power of choice?

  24. martyrathbun09

Tom, I think the anti’s read too much into this. What is the difference between this and the definition of Tone 40? Is Tone 40 a violation of someone’s right? Not in the hands of a decent being.

  25. Bravo, an excellent choice in quotes. And the whole basis of recieving the tech to become more self determined. Not get absorbed in the GROUP THINK. Always drove me nuts, because then the individual is NOT important.

  26. Huckleberry,

Yes! “Do you feel relieved, when leaving a game?” That is the test.

I had a similar experience — making lots of money, working longer and longer hours but also more and more demands to make higher donations, spend more time going to events, going to “mandatory” briefings, and then make more money!!

The moment I made the decision to leave that crazy game behind the sense of freedom, of space opening up waiting for me to create in, became almost overwhelming.

The Joy of Creation is what I regained back by making the self-determined decision to leave that game.

Do I feel relieved? Most definitely!!

  27. Huckleberry,

Throughout the late 30s and early 40s almost all of the German and Austrian people, millions of them, were aboslutely convinced that Hitler was the “biggest Thetan, the one who could get the job done” and restore them to all the old glories and entitlements. And yes Hitler too won a majoriyt of votes at every election, by a large margin.

For that matter Mussolini had all of Italy behind him. The Italians were all convinced at first that he was the “biggest Thetan”, the man to get the job done.

But those who were not part of Hitler’s and Mussolini’s game, those who had retained their own self determinism, could see the threat these maniacs posed to their followers and the rest of the world and those independent Thetans took action.

The world woke up, Mussolini was hanged and Hitler shot himself.

History has wonderful teachers, if one cares to enter its classrooms.

  28. “The hat is worn by the biggest thetan; the one that can get the job done.”

I’m 99% certain that LRH once said that the indication of competency was results.

A medical doctor can have high IQ, come from the best family, went to the best colleges and medical schools and have the best tools of this trade but if his patients keep dying on him, he’s incompetent

What kind of results has David Miscavige been getting in the last 20 years?

I’ve said this before but I feel it bares repeating. Would the church of scienotology be in this state if LRH were still running things? Does’t the answer to that question indicate where the problem is eminating from?

  29. well Marty, again and again I love the LRH you use to show all of us not only why we left, but what we have to do to “live” life 🙂

Thanks for helping me to spread my own message
    on http://www.scientologyprinciples.com via your site.

It is quite amazing to me how ,even tough I did not actually let myself surpress from the church while being there, I am expirencing a new feeling of calmeness, purpose and freedoom.
To me it is like finding again what I found 20 yeras ago when I first found SCN.

Also thanks to all the others who express their view and knowledge on your site.

I just posted another video on it, perhaps you let me know your toughts.

  30. Hello, I thought that I would pitch in my favorite LRH quote from PDC 20. In referring to Scientology LRH states: “And it is a method of thinking about things. And is just as true as it is workable. And no truer. And is not,in itself,an arbitrary fascistic police force to make sure that we all think right thoughts. It’s a servant of the mind, a servo mechanism of the mind,it is not a master of the mind. Scientology will decline, and become useless to man,on the day when it becomes the master of thinking. Don,t think it won,t do that. It has every capability in it of doing that”

  31. Absolutely — and as I’ve said — LRH is ever more meaningful to me NOW than when I was in.

When I was IN — I was way way too invested in “being a good person so I wouldn’t be ostracized, punished” — the justice system and ethics even back (1972-1993 my scn tenure) THEN fed into my own aberrations.

But — just so as to not make it appear as “my way – is better” — let me say — that often I am just dumbfriggin’ founded how twisted long term buddhist practitioners will use the teachings to justify their own very non-virtuous behavior.

Moving on up a little higher — takes rolled up sleeves and a hard look — at oneself.

  32. Tim H. Technology has no feelings it can not be hurt, People however CAN feel hurt and suffering.

  33. “Power of Choice is senior to responsebility. How come DM does not follow that LRH policy?”

DM does not believe in LRH, DM believes in DM. Actually DM definately choose his own path.

  34. Fantastic quote ASGARD. The essence of Scientology is its ability to make us free, not slaves. It’s a tool for our use, not we tools for its use.

  35. Good on you, KSW.

I’ve had one guiding principle throughout my years on the Bridge and that is that the being always knows.

We are all aware enough to know when we’re running to hide from our own overts and when we’re simply no longer willing to play a game because the rules require that we commit overts.

It’s not the game I signed up to play.

  36. Great quote Marty,
These datums are also couched in HCO B THEORY OF RESPONSIBILITY PROCESSING (Tech Vol V/296) where LRH says: “The power of choice is still senior to responsibility. What one does against his will operates as an overt act against oneself.”
After 32 years in the S.O, I was assigned to the RPF (for the 3rd time). I was studying my heart out so I could handle myself on “doing the right thing” ie going to the RPF. I landed on the above HCO B and boy, it sure handled me. I routed out.

  38. Theo Sismanides

Marty, a great article. The rights of a thetan.

The PDCs and the data in there can key us all OUT!

My understanding why people do not leave the game of Mestology is that the first right cannot be “attained”. They are not educated in it and thus they are not sane, they never were. Most of the Scientologists. They seem to be better and they are. But far from SANE.

So, they are not yet up to the point of making a zero of the MEST Universe (including MESTOLOGY of DM) and confront the zero of their own Universe and start building it up to Infinity (8008) (=leave the game).

They are stuck in the MEST Universe and are far from being OT.

So the Why lies in the low certainty of the staff and Scientologists about the Tech. Plus when they are certain about something they do not apply KSW. It’s NOT Win or Die in the attempt, anymore.

So they are not SANE on the subject. We all have been through THAT Insanity of out KSW.

    But why this happens?

Study Tech can be a very safe ground for certainty on the Tech. Cannot be easily described in few words.

I had done some extensive word clearing and I found myself going up the Tone Scale from Symbols, Needing Bodies (-4.0) to Approval from Bodies (-3.5 ), which is Think (I am pretty sure it is, though I don’t have the Tech Dictionary with the full KNOW TO MYSTERY SCALE).

This might sound TOO low but we are talking about unaware, uneducated, unprocessed thetans. Do not expect to see much.

So, the people here CAN Think. They have made it past Approval from Bodies. They don’t need that Approval from Bodies anymore. Words and Symbols mean nothing more to them than what they mean. And they can interpret them for what they really mean in the context of other data, not for just what they JUST mean, if you get me.

Words are Symbols and the people here can see behind the Symbols.

I will give one other datum here so to make it even clearer:

DM is playing at OWNING BODIES, PROTECTING BODIES AND CONTROLLING BODIES. This is EFFORT in the KNOW TO MYSTERY SCALE. He sometimes plays on a bit “higher” Tones than that, but this is his specialty and his operating basis. He is at EFFORT, controlling bodies AND LOWER.
And many guys out there just need Approval from Bodies to “make the grade” and get onto their OT levels. That’s what they can “Think”. But being below THINK (on the KNOW TO MYSTERY SCALE) they cannot really THINK. They can ONLY see SYMBOLS and they need symbols and approvals (agreements). They need to be lead by symbols and bodies.

Because as thetans they know they “don’t get it fully” themselves. Their certainty is very low. They don’t trust themselves and their Understandings, they have too few Undestandings, anyway, and they know it. They have been bad students, actually careless students and they know it. Thus they don’t trust themselves. They cannot play the piano, the full range of it. They are no great singers, few would listen to them. So they hush and they just follow Symbols, which by the way, they don’t quite understand but “hey, what the heck, there are others around here, too, so I must be right, though it doesn’t seem quite right, … oh, well, I’ll carry on…”

So, the Why to me is that we failed to train REAL Scientologists but not to be too mean let’s say it in a better way: the Why is that Scientologists as Thetans go up the scale from the Unconciousness (they have been for such a long time as thetans) to a Waitingness (being objects, like tape recorders or robots are) as Thetans up to Mystery as Thetans and up to Symbols, where they need bodies (SYMBOLS).

And what is DM positioning himself but just as a SYMBOL for Scientologists (keeping them at needing bodies) and he is kept there as a Symbol like the Pope is. And from there they move up to THINK, and all these lower Scale tones show up NOW BIG TIME as more Scientologists become more and more EDUCATED and PROCESSED in the subject and those outnesses are becoming more and more evident to them.

So, we are in a stage of transition for Scientologists since they are not yet ITs, Independent Thetans which has been actually a missing step (in my very humble opinion) leading the way to OT, Operating Thetans. Because the truth of the matter is that an Independent Thetan is not necessarily an Operating Thetan yet but still he is way up the scale from what is passed for as an OT in the church.

So it may be that this intermediate stage of IT (Independent Thetan) is necessary to OT (Operating Thetan). And this is surely what we are doing here.
We are making ITs and lining them up to OT.
We definitely need more ITs to exert their two basic rights.

But what about the right to get INTO a game?

    OSA,

Mr. Rathbun is a big boy who he knew what he was getting into with all this but the pizza co, the pizza delivery person, and the locksmith? They were just innocent people trying to make an honest living and that bothered me.
Among other things, you need to acquire some manners.
As such, I had to ask myself two important questions that everyone posting here should ask of themselves:
    If not me, who?
    If not now, when?
So while you were busy amusing yourselves, having a few laughs at the expense of uninvolved bystanders, I took advantage of the fact that your panties were down around your ankles.
Nearly 3000 Scientologists received two e-mails. All e-mails were obtained legally I might add. The content of those e-mails you can download and read at the following link:

Thus far, their replies have been outstanding! This was one of my favorites from the first one:
“I have no idea who you are but thank you so much! I often wondered what happened. I am going to be writing up some KRs in the hopes that we can get back on Source and stop this destruction of the Tech. I hope it works.

Consider this to be a professional bout—12 rounds. By then, you’ll have paid retail for the cavalier way in which you used those people and it is my sincere hope you will have learned a valuable lesson about how to treat others. Knowing you like to keep stats on these sorts of things, I took the liberty of preparing them for you.

  42. Hi! Marty, here is my first post on your blog. 🙂

    Great LRH quote!

Especially on how education is vital for people to understand this right.

“It’s all right for people to have a right, but if they don’t have the capability, the right is meaningless. So the right depends to some extent, in any case, upon an education about the right. ”

And this is what I have seen we get mis-educated at the C of M. Staff members who work for 20-30 years but getting little to no LRH, no education. 😦

We all have witnessed destruction of data and education through wholesale book-burnings in history.

We are going through the same phase in the church.

After announcing Golden age of knowledge, DM asked scientologists to discard all old books.

Then data that is already altered get released as source.

For eg, the current long list of justice and ethics codes printed in the Ethics book astound me.

I have no evidence., I believe the Code of Scientologist is also altered.

    Mis-education is the result.

  43. Huck,

Not sure what the importance of what Minerva says is.

It’s an OSAbot put out there to spread untruths and black PR. Why are we forwarding this mess of illogics?

  44. WTF? She actually wrote that Micarry
    IS Scientology?

My jaw in almost in China by now, haha.

    These people are a joke.

  45. That’s interesting. Just exactly what statistics are being used to determine that the “job is being done”?
about 10 years ago after an LRH Birthday event, I stopped going to events because I noticed an interesting thing: no real stats were being shown. The graphs all went up up up, but had no actual dates or quantities on them; no numbers, just a line going up. And the verbal speech had no content. it was all “so and so spoke with the minister of blady blah who’s thinking of putting study tech into all the schools in the nation” and those sort of “postulate stats”. When I was in the S.O. one would have been creamed for even sugesting that “the possibility of something happening” could be considered a stat. And yet here was our fearless leader going on for two hours with just that.
    Where are the stats?

  46. I’m curious. Just what is DM’s supposed case level? I think I read here he’d done the levels but no internship? Admin training? Just what qualifies this guy to hold this high of a post?

  47. It’s getting time to walk away.

  48. So was the definition of responsibility altered for the “golden age”?

Or was that something Ron wrote?

The thing is… the way LRH defined something or talked about it, taken out of context really could create chaos. I guess that’s my big cognition and no one else noticed lol.

He might be talking about a PC that might be a one level and address responsibility, and it all made sense.
The he might say something quite different on the PDC, addressing the same subject from a higher tone level.

I waver between thinking we have lost so much ground I don’t know if we can recover the thing, to thinking this is all happening just at the right time.

I’ve been offline for so long, I can’t even find my own name on a declare list… man that’s pretty low when you don’t even get a declare badge;)

To think of the fear I lived in about that nonsense.

I can’t wait till more realize it means NOTHING.

I think the closest we have now outside the CofM, is your credit score.

    That’s a joke too, but it’s a direct parallel.

If I stopped working to take care of my sick mother and my credit score suffered, what would that mean? In MY universe? To ME as a being?

The same as when I was so sick I was almost dead and my old squirrel friend that I was no longer allowed to speak to came to my house and made me well.

What did I get from my org? I got write ups for not showing up for course, and a CS to do a bunch of PTS handling I couldn’t afford!

Where are all of those volunteer ministers for their own members next door who need help?? Where are they?

  49. Marty, this is an excellent post and the timing is also great.Thank you.

  50. “DM stands head and shoulders ABOVE OTHERS.”

    Hmmmmmmmm

DM Stands head and shoulders above others in his CRUELTY and doling out of Punishments.

DM stands head and shoulders above other Religious Leaders in amount of babies aborted on his policy and enforcement.
(Riverside Planned Parenthood had such an avalanche of Sea Org females showing up for abortions, for years that even though they are pro-choice, they starting making issues and the SO members were sent elsewhere~~ we are talking of 100s upon 100s of aborted babies in the last 25 years.)

DM stands head and shoulders in enforcing SLEEP DEPRIVATION, especially 5x a year, for the prior 5 days before an INT event.

DM stands head and shoulders above all religious leaders in punching, beating, slamming heads against walls and spitting on veteran SO members.

DM stands head and shoulders on incarcerating SO members against their will, holding them captive for and using North Korean brainwashing techniques…..hours and hours of interrogation sec checks daily over heavy out ruds til they are broken~~
    Annie (Broker) Logan
    Jeanie Bogvad (Sonenfield)
    Shelly Miscavige
and others whose names I will not mention at this time.

DM stands head and shoulders above others in lavishly spending on himself and living like a head of state with multiple palaces at INT base, Hollywood, Clearwater ~~ not to mention a fleet of cars, private jets only for flights, an attendance of SO members who are NOT working for a 501c3 tax exempt religion, but are working for DM’s private benefit ~~ his personal staff.

DM stands head and shoulders with muddying the tech into murky waters so that Scientologists pay and pay and repay to do levels over and over again.
Imagine changing the definition of a Floating Needle which is THE point of release redefined years after LRH passed.

DM stands head and shoulders above other religious leaders where he carefully controls the 2500 on SOLO NOTS with 85 SOLO NOTS sec checkers sec check them every 6 months~~
no wonder the GI of Flag is around $1.7 million a WEEK. (Calculate yearly GI, calculate GI over 15 years, no audits, all tax exempt)

DM stand head and shoulders above other heads of Religion in creating reasons to give $$$Money for no exchange ~~
    The Library Scam
The IAS Statuses Gold Patron Meritorius Bloviatus etc. etc.
The Super Building Scam (no account for the $145 million raised)

DM stands head and shoulders above the Guardian’s Office with his dirty tricks, his underhanded ways via the layers of Lawyers and PIs…daily more of this comes to light.

DM stands head and shoulders above other religious leaders in controlling the Bank accounts and SO reserves, and IAS funds and so on.

You said “that often I am just dumbfriggin’ founded how twisted long term Buddhist practitioners will use the teachings to justify their own very non-virtuous behavior.”

This resonated with me a LOT. It is how I feel about many of my fellow Scientologist.
I so completely understand what you are saying, but I have overcome the ARC break by observing this is true of all religions, doctrines, dogmas and even science. Every last one on earth

I think it is due to 5 very important factors.

    1. All of the above mentioned were created, discovered, formulated and or developed by human beings; therefore they are susceptible to human failings, Scientology is NOT an exception. Things like the reference on fair game, were not right.

LRH however had an incredible ability to identify wrong policies and pull them, one can not demand absolute perfection from the man, specially when subjected to DM’s underhanded false reports. I personally am amazed at his degree of rightness, considering…

We simply need to recognize Scientology’s or Buddhism, or Christianity’s degree of rightness, their vast application, truthfulness, sincerity, and above all their intent.

I believe with all my heart that if in the application of Scientology tech or policy, one takes care to understand the intent of the policy and the spirit of it, chances of going wrong are greatly diminished. I also have observed that the same is true of other belief systems etc.

And WE MUST work with that we have towards a better person, group, religion, society and ultimately world.

(I believe for everyday a person is better, the world improves from the cumulative effect. In other words a person that is better = a better world even if just a little) Scientology works, and were it is slightly wrong, it is incredibly right in many other areas.

    2. People who subsequently study them ( all subjects, bodies of knowledge), have MUs, they fail to understand really what they are supporting, professing, practicing, studying, etc, and so alter it according to their MUs.

    3. People are PTS, well being PTS makes progress and improvement non permanent. So even when they do grasp and use the subjects relatively well, so long as they are PTS and don’t recognize it and to the degree that they are, they fail. But they may not recognize that and so begin to squirrel desperately. This is specially true in medicine, but all other subjects too.

    4. People have Ser facs, they apply the teachings, theories, dogmas, doctrines or tech selectively to satisfy these serv facs

    5. People have Evil Purposes and some small number have destructive impulses, and suppressive tendencies.

These factors affect all bodies of knowledge, and systems of belief, government or practice, these factors are what make life, well life. And we can understand these and use them.
LRH understood this all to well and left many built in safeguards to prevent what happened today, what has happened to every other worthwhile attempt or system ever created by man which is summed in the above 5 points.

It never ceases to amaze me how much admiration LRH had for humanity as a whole, I feel he truly saw Human kind with all it’s faults, as an infinitely beautiful species, and so do I. Here is one of my very favorite quotes by him.

“There is only one way, really, to get into a state of living, and that’s live! There is no substitute for an all-out, over-the-ramparts, howling charge against life. That’s living. Living does not consist of sitting in a temple in the shadows and getting rheumatism from the cold stones. Living is hot, it’s fast, it’s often brutal! It has a terrific gamut of emotional reactions.

If you are really willing to live, you first have to be willing to do anything that consists of living. Weird. But it’s one of those awfully true things that you wonder why one has to say it. And yet it has to be said.” LRH

It is up to us to pick up the torch. In my opinion, people who like you are able to rise above the 5 points and understand and use what works of the tech or their teachings, or systems, etc, whether they call themselves scientologist or not, are the ones making a better world.

I think LRH would be pleased that you are able to understand him thus, and I think he would have great respect for your true understanding and clean application and adherence to the Buddhist faith you have chosen. I know I do.

  52. Concerned Citizen

    Tom,

It took me many years to finally understand the definition you mention, but once I fully did grasp it, there is no way what you are saying is right. I suggest you demo it out and try to understand it’s real intent. If you examine all of LRH’s writings with the preconceived idea that he had in intent to harm, you will conclude only it’s potential for harm is valid, and miss it’s potential for good. I submit to you that any idea has both potentials inherently.

The answer to Rori from me would be, no one can name a single policy DM actually applies and follows constructively. He can be predicted to use any thing like the above quote destructively. It is all in the antisocial personality attributes and the book, “Science of Survival”

DM is incapable of applying anything constructively due to his case condition ( SP valance)

  53. Concerned Citizen

Only thing I wish to correct, is every last Sea Org memeber, except DM is on the same pay system.

I do so love this posts Marty, they truly inspire and clarify and exemplify and unite. This is pure theta you are posting here Marty and I love it. Please more and more of these.

  56. Just created a new ” Freezone ” page on my facebook website.

Welcome anyone who wishes to become a”Fan”.
Just click icon next to words” Freezone”.

Did some of my purple prose comments re COS, and more importantly some VERY
    pertinent LRH quotes.

    About Freedom.

    ===========
The current Church Regime is totalitarian, one where if you don’t toe the “party line” you may find yourself disconnected [religious shunning] from friends, family and business associates. One example of the totalitarian nature of the Church is that its public spokepersons have repeatedly commented that they no longer practice disconnection, yet I have friends who still suffer from such conditions. Orwellian doublespeak!

If one doesn’t donate money to the church over and above fees for services, one won’t be allowed to do the higher bridge levels. The money donated to the IAS is nominally used for such purposes as “eliminating psychiatry”. However those with severe mental problems are not allowed Scientology services to help them. Thus the abandonment to fate of a whole subclass of the human race.

Here are two fair use quotes from LRH to show the lightness of touch envisioned for the subject, and an emphasis on “Freedom”:
I consider all auditors my friends. I consider them that even when they squirrel. I believe they have a right to express themselves and their own opinions. I would not for a moment hamper their right to think. I think of auditors and Scientologists as the Free People. . . .

I don’t expect auditors or Scientologists to instantly agree with or seize upon whatever I say. I would be offended if they did and would feel they weren’t a Free People. Since they are intelligent I expect them to think over what’s said, try it, and if it’s good for them, use it. That old auditors sooner or later come back to and use what I have discovered isn’t any testimony to our relationship at all, it’s only a testimony to my being right because I meant to be right in the first place. . . .

I sorrow when I see somebody accomplishing less than he should because he thinks I wouldn’t approve of it. In organizations and out I count upon initiative and good judgment.

    L. Ron Hubbard
PAB 79, 10 April 1956, THE OPEN CHANNEL

This is a fascinating LRH quote from 1959. He decries the subservience of knowledge to special interests, and all the ‘now-I’m-supposed-to’s. Guess he’d be a freezoner were he here. 🙂

The fate of any piece of knowledge man has ever been able to learn about himself, his society or this universe has [been to] sooner or later become subservient to some special interest with a curve on it to make more slaves. And this is one time when as long as I’ve got words in my mouth and breath in my thetan — this is one time that curve isn’t going to happen. And that’s all I want your help in. We want to make sure that what we know never comes to serve some special interest for the subjugation of man.

All Dianetics and Scientology attempts to do is to undo the magic spell which has made people less than they want to be. And to do that it requires that some truth be known. And that the central and principal truths of man be know, merely as truths — not as pitches and curves to serve some different reason or purpose. And that information is its own best protector. If it is itself, if it is what is known, if it is what has been learned, then it undoes its own spells. And the only possible excuse we have for training anybody, for processing anybody is that Dianetics and Scientology will undo Dianetics and Scientology. And that’s the first time known in the history of man that a subject, if it ever curved down, could also go up — that a subject undid itself. And that would be true knowledge.

We must never let what we know get into a state whereby it itself is a tremendous numbers of ‘now-I’m-supposed-to’s.

  57. Thanks, Marty, for another quite right indication.

When I left the SO, pre-DM, I felt relief about the new freedom to balance living all the dynamics (skills that had to be learned anew after the SO, to be sure). This time, once clarity dawned, the relief on leaving DMs current game was very much akin to “Free at last, free at last. Great God almight, I’m free at last!”

  58. Marty, thank you for this blog.

I love coming here to start the day.

This morning it was awesome seeing the picture of LRH. Hello! Instant smile. And reading the quotes and sharing viewpoints … This is it. Life. ☼

  59. What a bizarre email to send to parishioners of a church! Very creepy.

  60. Great reference Marty. I for one did feel a great sense of relief when I left . The Church had become a financial albatross, making spiritual gain very difficult if not impossible.

  61. Freedom Fighter

Boy, that brought tears to my eyes. Pretty much sums up where things are at, eh?

  62. KSW,

This is the quote of the day, in my opinion!

  63. “Had he [DM] not been there we would in all likelihood have lost Scientology in the various attacks.”

Does she mean all the attacks created by DM’s malevolence and alter-is?

  64. I can’t help acking this — good for you, Darla!

  65. R Man,
Stupendous. The Champ in his prime, floating, shuffling, stinging. Magic from competence.

I loved your letters, both of them, and you know we are friends too.

    Love,
    Jim

  66. Brad, that’s because it’s become more about financial outflow than spiritual inflow.

  67. Important, Sinar, because Minerva is worth saving, too. She didn’t join the Sea Org to become Tokyo Rose.

Minerva, the being always knows. Look around you. Can you honestly say all is well? I could not.

The fish rots from the head down.

    It’s never too late.

    ML,

    Huckleberry

  68. Yes, yes yes – agreed: time is a construct. That is not new, its thousands of years old. What is new is that Hubbard appears to be suggesting that someone can choose what time it is. That was my question.

Surely you’re not suggesting that Scientologists can alter time or are somehow adrift from its immutable march? Clearly that’s a nonsense. So what, actually, does the statement mean?

  69. Now we’re talking!

So the statement applies only to those who have ended up in a prison like environment. How, then, do you explain the phenomena of those who are not in the RFP?

  70. wow! this is so incredible! these are great letters. might I suggest that others on this blog send you their contacts and you could add them to your mailing list? What would be great is if somehow Marty could set up a permanent link on the home page that encourages readers to send in their contacts to Renaissance Man (in a totally secure way of course) so that these contacts can be added to the mailing list. This could become an ongoing thing; that is, a central mailing list could be continuously expanded and Renaissance Man could act as the central point, consolidating the list and doing regular mailings, like in an org. I’ve had this idea for a long time and didn’t know how to implement it. I, and others I’m sure, would be willing to help in any way you can suggest. What do you think, Marty?

  71. Blip,
I think you may have missed something there on the definition. Of course a being can alter ‘time’. Who the heck do you think is creating it in the first place? The ‘immutable march’? An unknown hovering thing, an entity?

Hey, I understand dude, ‘time’ is pretty ‘slippy’ to encompass.

  72. BLiP “Surely you’re not suggesting that Scientologists can alter time or are somehow adrift from its immutable march? Clearly that’s a nonsense. So what, actually, does the statement mean?”

What if you were given the order “Be here at 8AM sharp – OR ELSE!”

Does that sound like a time and place of your own choosing?

  73. Well argued, KSW. It is true, too, that the fascist assumes power in times of chaos and in a leadership vacuum by offering “stability”. Power is assumed by the “biggest thetan”.

  74. “1. What field activities have you been participating in recently? (Specify type of activity, hours of activity per week or month)”

I bet what I have done wouldn’t fit on to a stat chart and no money exchanged hands so it doesn’t count. That’s okay though, always found the Thursday stat push hindered rather than encouraged actual productivity.

“2. Any personal wins from application of the Tech or successes or results that got people’s attention? (Please be specific and also indicate if it is okay to publish your success.)”

Someone get me a yellow T shirt so anything good I have done can be turned into a PR piece and used to pull in more money.

It feels pretty good to enjoy ones “personal” wins without being expected to crow about it or glorify the church of mest somehow.

  75. Funny how Sue never noticed the obvious A=A or the flagrant illogic of her above statement.

It’s like saying Anton Levay is Christianity!

Too bad about the Wilheres, especially Sue compromising her reality and integrity.

IMHO you’d have to be a product of narcosynthesis in order to draw any comparison between Miscavige and Scientology.

It’s like saying that an engram is a pleasure moment!

This will probably the “product” that will be achieved with her in AVC:

    http://www.gwu.edu/~nsarchiv/NSAEBB/NSAEBB27/01-01.htm

  76. Jim

If what you say is true the you, single handedly, can save Scientology and have millions crowding your doorway eager to learn more.

If all truth is provable – then prove it.

Otherwise, Scientology is like any other religion: a matter of faith.

    2NXDR

You’re talking about circumstances, not what time it is. I know how to change circumstance, but can you tell me, how does someone change what time it is?

  77. RPF, sorry.
