Jason Beghe

Jason and me August 2008

Jason Beghe was just written up by Village Voice editor in chief Tony Ortega for his important role in “crippling Scientology”, http://blogs.villagevoice.com/runninscared/2011/09/jason_beghe_top_25_crippling_scientology.php

While I respect Tony for his ability to confront the cult and his intelligence in understanding the goals and purposes of Independent Scientology vs those of Radical Corporate Scientology, I don’t see eye to eye with him on what Jason Beghe’s products and intentions are.  The video interview Jason did with Mark Bunker in early 2008 accurately captured the raw, painful truth that was Jason’s shortly after he made the lonely and courageous step through the wall of fire that is cutting ties with Miscavige’s cult.   But, to define Jason by that moment does him a tremendous injustice in my view.

Jason is one of my closest friends.  He spent a week at our home in August 2008.   We spent dozens of hours together on the deck overlooking the bay grappling with the subject of Scientology.   By the end of the week we had synthesized a vision.  That vision was to help Scientologists heal and to heal Scientology itself by means, primarily, of letting the truth be known.  Though the church, and apparently Scientology haters too, will never believe it, Jason and I concurred that to waste much time “fighting” or “taking down” Miscavige would be counter-productive.   Jason – who is one of the most intelligent and well educated people (and Scientology trained to boot) I have had the privilege to know as a good friend – understood when I demonstrated that Miscavige has sucked the church into a nightmare GPM (Goal/Problem/Mass – the positive/negative, resistance trap that makes one becomes what one resists) that now routinely produces the precise opposite (Problem) of what it postulates (Goal) resulting the in the destructive cult (Mass) it has become.

Jason is not out to “cripple” or even harm in any way “Scientology.”   Jason is all about the truth.  I’ll provide two examples to demonstrate that fact.

Jason went through ten years of the most vicious Black Dianetics within RCS (Radical Corporate Scientology).   It began in 1996.  Jason had completed training through Class V at Celebrity Center International (CCI).  Jason was such an effective auditor during his internship that a number of people began requesting that he by name deliver their Grades and NED.   CCI, as is the church’s wont, of course extended his internship because they were making beau coup bucks off their star auditor.

Then Miscavige decided overnight to destroy the training line up that L Ron Hubbard spent three decades perfecting.   Jason was told that he had to re-train because Miscavige had determined some unnamed people had messed up the tech.  Jason said “ok, let’s get started.”   He was told he had to go to the reg.  Jason, being Jason, then uttered the now famous words (paraphrase), “let me get this straight, you screwed up the tech, and you want me to pay for it? Get the fuck out of here!”

That began a ten year “repair”from hell for Jason.   At a cost of hundreds of thousands of dollars to himself, Jason was put through endless Ls repairs, NOTs repairs, FPRD, sec checking, and the most reverse, evaluative “ethics” imaginable. I know that for a fact because in 2002 while I was at CCI auditing Tom Cruise, Miscavige ordered that I check out the endless drama that had become the Jason Beghe cycle while I was there.   While Jason claims our couple of weeks together was the one bright light during that decade in hell, I too was making him wrong for his “counter intention” to “Golden Age of Tech” (Miscavige’s 1996 cancellation of the training line up of L Ron Hubbard).  Unfortunately, I was ordered to Flag to handle the McPherson case the moment I completed Cruise on NOTS (OT V, higher Scientology auditing level) and to drop Jason like a hot potato.  Had we stuck it out together perhaps we both would have walked in ’02.

Having met Jason six years later and having the opportunity to talk frankly with no censors or fixed ideas, I came to understand this:

Jason Beghe was persecuted and tortured for ten years because he had the integrity to stand up and say what probably 97.5% of Scientologists thought (but suppressed out of fear) in May 1996.
Second Example.  In April 2009 when the church learned that Mike Rinder was considering corroborating my story with the St Pete Times, Miscavige’s response was to send six cult members and two attorneys to Denver (where Mike then lived) to ambush him, threaten him and attempt to purchase his silence to prevent the truth from seeing the light of day.  The afternoon we learned of the plot, Jason hopped on an airplane immediately on his own dime, and we descended upon Denver from opposite directions as reinforcement for Mike.  The rest is history.

As to the assault case referred to in Tony Ortega’s article, again more context is warranted.  Within a couple of days of Jason returning home from the successful Denver mission, a RCS process server walked more than a hundred yards into Jason’s property.  The process server’s contact was handwritten on the subpoena he was there to serve. The contact was not a lawyer.  It was Greg Schulman, a former Guardian’s Office member and three decade OSA “Intelligence” veteran.   The process server applied many of the tactics to provoke Jason that we are all now familiar with being applied to me daily and to Mike Rinder for nearly a year.

Unfortunately, Jason was not as schooled in OSA’s tactics as Mike and I were and so his reaction was exploited.  Knowing all the circumstances I am proud to this day that Jason used as little force as he did in dealing with the situation.

OSA used teams of lawyers to work the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Office and the Los Angeles D/A’s office to bring a case against Jason.   They used the process to harrass him and cost him a lot of  time and money over two years.   Had we had more resources back then, we would have taken it to trial – I advocated for it from the beginning but we just did not have the resources back then to finance such an adventure.

I have had 11 (eleven) criminal cases brought against me by the RCS because of various restrained ways and means I dealt with people getting into my face constantly over time.  They have hired four law firms in Texas (including the largest one in South Texas) to lobby local officials to prosecute me in my own back yard alone.  Unsuccessful to date, and (knock on wood), in the future.

But I will tell you right now who kept me out of jail.  Jason Beghe.  Had it not been for the two years of hell RCS put him through, and the remarkable poise with which he handled it, there is no doubt but that by now I would have done something far more serious than the light open handed taps Jason used to usher a creepy lurker away from his then 4 and 6 year old sons and his wife.

Jason is a man’s man.

And for the benefit of David Miscavige and his thirty some odd anti-me web pages, I’ll make it crystal clear, something you can quote:

I love Jason Beghe.

Miscavige Perpetuates Memory of Gestapo & STASI

Mosey and I decided to take a train ride up to Berlin today.  Having learned quite a bit about Germany and its history recently, we wanted to see some historical sites of significance.

We were told by our hosts that they could not provide protection since we were leaving Hamburg, a terrorist had just been caught in Berlin, and the Chancellor of Germany was scheduled to speak at Checkpoint Charlie in Berlin this afternoon – so all law enforcement was focused on those matters.  No matter, it is not like we cannot handle harassment and we’d be damned if we’d let Miscavige’s terrorist tactics get in the way of a chance of a lifetime.

Just as we arrived at the epicenter of what became the icons for remembrance of the importance of tolerance and freedom from tyranny and oppression, guess who came to remind us: never lose vigilance against suppression?

David Miscavige’s storm troopers performed the creepiest of Cold War type intelligence ops amidst thousands of people who had travelled from all parts of the world to visit shrines to the evils of such mentality.

I present to you the live record of Miscavige’s response to our words over the past two days attempting to heal the wounds his organization has inflicted on the people of Germany.  I don’t know that it can get any darker than this. By the way, please hold any sympathetic words.  His timing couldn’t have punctuated the point of our visit better nor made it more real and meaningful.  We got Nazi Germany circa 1933-1945 and Berlin circa 1945-1989, in spades.

Germany Update

Last night Ursula Caberta and I were the lead interview on arguably the most popular tv talk show in Germany, the Markus Lanz show.  Some have posted links to a Youtube download in the comments section to the last post. I am providing a direct link to show’s webpage here, http://www.zdf.de/ZDFmediathek/beitrag/video/1433942/Scientology-Aussteiger-Marc-Rathbun–.   At least here in Germany you can hear my voice better than on the youtube versions.   If someone comes up with a subtitled version Mike Rinder might be able to substitute it here today. Mosey and I will be out and about Germany today. From the reaction of German audience members and Mr. Lanz and other production crew I have a feeling this might wind up having more far-reaching effects than day one’s events.

For any Indies who can make it to Hamburg by Saturday a.m. you are invited to join us for a briefing by me and a meeting amongst us.  It will be held at 10:30 am. in a reserved conference room at the Hamburg Ministry of Interior: 4 Johanniswall, at the corner of Johaniswall and Altstadterstrasse.   Be sure to bring your passport as you will need it to gain entrance to the building. Any potential OSA agents, recognize attempted infiltration will constitute a felony which will be prosecuted.  If you think you might make it contact Steve Hall – text at 214-450-1355 or email steve@stevehallcreative.com.   He is here in Hamburg making waves.

We should wrap up the meeting by just after noon.  We will then hit the streets and parks and just rap.  We may even take you to a wonderful, circa 19th century authentic German Pub and Grille Mosey and I discovered while wandering the streets last night, for some mean schnitzel, fish soup and Deutschland Riesling.

Have a great day.

Here is a version with not very accurate captioning of my responses. Hopefully, someone may come up with more accurate ones.

accurate translation of the second video:

MARKUS LANZ: What is difficult to understand is this: You’re sitting here telling what’s happening and complaining about it and rightly so in my opinion. At the same time you’re saying “I am adhering to the teachings. I’m still a Scientologist”. Why?

————PART 2————

MARTY: Because I’m talking about conduct, I’m talking about secular conduct and how they interact with the world, and how they deal with people in the world who know about them, such as Ursula Caberta … VERSUS … belief, practice, how you follow your path to a higher place. These are two separate things.

And that’s my message.

And I think that what I’ve found in Germany is that Ms. Caberta, contrary to what they’re alleging against her, feels the same way. If you want to go into the privacy of your home and do what you want to do that’s going to help you spiritually, go ahead and do it. But if you go out onto the street, and you start doing coercive tactics, if you start playing politics, if you start ruining lives … that’s, that’s not protected.

And so I see they’re two different things, I’m differentiating.

Markus, let me tell you. I don’t think anyone has attempted this before, because I get attacked from both sides. It’s a difficult place to be, in the middle. But I’m going to tell you something. Ultimately, it is probably the most effective thing from her perspective too, because for the first time in the history of Scientology, inside active Scientologists are listening to my message, because I’m not attacking the practice, the belief, and the peaceful practice of what they’re there for.

And so … You know, there’s a big ban on listening to the Cabertas, or the people that don’t [have familiarity with] the organization. They don’t read the papers, they won’t watch this show. But, because I don’t go after that, a lot of people get the message who wouldn’t otherwise get the message.

[Conversation between Markus Lanz and Ursula Caberta, transcribed directly from German into English in the video.]

MARKUS LANZ: Fanaticism is the cue. As a conclusion I’d like to have Marty tell about the inner life of the organization again. Is it true that employees are regularly exposed to vicious physical violence?

MARTY: Yes sir, and as a matter of fact, Vaughn Young, who she [Ursula] talked about, turned out to be prophetic because — and this is partly why I left — because he [Miscavige] got to be more zealous and more zealous … into fanatical … into maniacal.

But from the year 2000 on, Miscavige literally began to regularly use physical violence on the highest managers in Scientology. And ultimately — and this kept escalating over time — during the early 2000s up to a point … by late 2003, he literally locked 80 Church of Scientology managers in a room about the size of this studio, and he made them stay there 24/7. They couldn’t go out to eat. They couldn’t go out to … to go to bed. They had to sleep on the floor. And then they had to do these group confessional situations, where they would have to get up and confess “thought crimes” against David Miscavige. If he didn’t like the “thought crime” — if he didn’t think it was juicy enough, if he didn’t think it was sexy enough, if he didn’t think it was evil enough — he would BEAT the person in front of everybody.

THEN he began to make everybody else do the same to others. In fact, I was asked if that was an incident for me. I was finally put in there only for three days, because by the third day, I escaped. Because I just … to me …

MARKUS LANZ: So you beat employees back then?

MARTY: Yes, as a matter of fact, my own good friend who I worked with for many many years, Mike Rinder, and I … I was directed specifically by Miscavige to do it to him. And the second time — and it was shown on the opening video — there was a point where I realized I was doing things that were against my nature, and against my rationale … and stepped out of it. And shortly after that I got on my motorcycle and escaped through the security gate. And I’ve never been back.

[Audience clapping]

MARKUS LANZ: What is your recommendation to people who say “I want out” after this appearance, but who fear possible reprisals?

MARTY: What I recommend to them is go to my blog markrathbun.wordpress.com. That’s an effective way to deal with this sword of Damocles that they have over everybody’s head, this fear.

If more and more people stand up, then ultimately they [the CoS] won’t have the resources and means to do this to everybody.

And I think if we clearly hit that point, now with so many people standing up, and standing courageously, and then creating a network, that they can’t effectively do this [create the fear].

I think what’s going on — and the reason why they’ve put so many people on me now — I think Miscavige has decided that the only way to make people afraid of this kid [Miscavige] … is to take out the guy who said: “the best way to combat him, is to not be afraid of him”.

MARKUS LANZ: Thank you very much for visiting our studio, to you Ms. Caberta and to you, Mark [Marty]. I wish you all the best and that the worst fears won’t come true.

It’s Safe to be a Scientologist in Germany

Incidentally, the Hamburg Anons have been nothing but helpful and friendly.

The church of Scientology’s total contribution to date has been a literal dramatization of the Spanish Inquisition which Mosey caught a glimpse of on our way into the Ministry of the Interior:

On David Miscavige’s Behavior — Part 2

By Mike Rinder

A recent discussion with Jim Logan and Christie reminded me of a section in Self Analysis that I then pulled out and read in a new unit of time.

It offers insight into the oft posed question: How is it possible that competent and able individuals in “international management” are apparently so incapable of doing anything about Miscavige’s insanity.

I suspect anyone who has ever been in close proximity to POB will read this and wonder how LRH could, in 1951, describe someone in 2011 SO precisely.

This is “Part 2” to an earlier posting concerning PAB 13 titled On DM’s Behavior: https://markrathbun.wordpress.com/2010/02/13/on-dms-behavior/

In the interest of improving conditions, I also include the list that accompanies this chapter in the book, so if you read this and feel the need, LRH’s solution is right here for you to avail yourself of.

I laughed when I read the first question. Oh, how prescient LRH is.

Invalidation

Aberrated individuals use two distinct and very aberrated methods of controlling others.

The first consists of forcing the other person to do exactly what is desired with the mechanism of recrimination and denial of friendship or support unless instant compliance takes place. In other words, “You do exactly what I say or I am no ally of yours”. This is outright domination. Additionally, it seeks by anger and outright criticism, accusations, and other mechanisms to pound another individual into submission by making him less.

The second method might be called domination by nullification. This is covert and quite often the person upon whom it is exerted remains unsuspecting beyond the fact that he knows he is very unhappy. This is the coward’s method of domination. The person using it feels that he is less than the individual upon whom he is using it and has not the honesty or fortitude to admit the fact to himself. He then begins, much as termites gnaw away a foundation (as in California) to pull the other individual “down to size”, using small carping criticisms. The one who is seeking to dominate strikes heavily at the point of pride and capability of his target. And yet, if at any moment the target challenges the nullifier, the person using the mechanism claims he is doing so solely out of assistance and friendship, or disavows completely that it has been done.

Of the two methods, the latter is far more damaging. A person using this method seeks to reduce another individual down to a point where he can be completely controlled and will not stop until he has reduced the target into a confused apathy. The lowest common denominator of nullification could be called “invalidation”. The nullifier seeks to invalidate not only the person but the skills and knowledge of his target. The possessions of the target are said to be not quite as important as they might be. The experiences of the person being nullified are minimized. The target’s looks, strength, physical capabilities and potentialities are also invalidated. All this may be done so covertly that it appears to be “in the best interest of” the target. The nullifier seeks to “improve” the person being invalidated.

The first question of this list should be, of course, how many people have you known who have sought consistently, under the mask of seeking to aid you, to tear you apart as a person and reduce your future, your hopes, your goals, and the very energy of your life?

Can you recall a time when:

 1. A person much smaller than you resented your size.

2. A person bigger than you made you feel inferior.

3. A person would not let you finish something.

4. An object was too much for you.

5. You found a space too big.

6. You were pushed back because you were too small.

7. You didn’t make the team.

8. You found you were adequate.

9. You found somebody had lied about how bad you were.

10. You discovered you had been right, after all.

11. You found your decision would have been best.

12. You solved a problem nobody else could do.

13. You discovered there were homelier people in the world than you.

14. You found you could ignore somebody’s opinion.

15. You found somebody else thought you really had done something good.

16. You were admired for your looks.

17. You overcame a machine.

18. You accomplished arduous journey.

19. You discovered somebody who slurred you was dishonest in other ways.

20. You found yourself bigger and more powerful than an animal.

21. You discovered your competence.

22. You bested somebody thoroughly.

23. An enemy cried for quarter.

24. You drew blood on somebody else.

25. You took the lion’s share and kept it.

26. You made your weight felt.

27. You were too heavy for somebody.

28. You killed something.

29. You won.

30. You were able to get away from somebody who invalidated you.

31. You discovered you were right and the old man was wrong.

32. You found you could get better.

33. You got well when they had no hope for you.

34. You surprised yourself with your own endurance.

35. You discovered you did understand.

36. You did a job nobody believed possible.

37. You were proud of yourself today.

Germany, Europe and Human Rights

UPDATE: 9/3/2011 435 pm cst:  Village Voice coverage of this blog post below at: http://blogs.villagevoice.com/runninscared/2011/09/ex-scientology_1.php#more

During my trip this week I heard from some folks that they had heard on the rumor line that other folks doubted the sincerity of my comment a couple weeks back that “I have David Miscavige right where I want him.”   My comment did not mean that things are easy in our life.  But, we don’t seek an easy life.  We’re working on just what we have said we are working on for the past two years.   It is well covered in the Welcome section of this blog as well as the section entitled The 31 Factors that Scientologists Should Consider.

If people think that we are wasting much time on the ass clowns who come to our home each day and follow us all around the world, you are not watching very closely.  Look at the Bert Leahy interviews.  We don’t just have six ass clowns in a golf cart here. That is just the first layer of daily diversionary tactic.  There is an elaborate network throughout our region, backed by teams of private investigators who monitor our every move and relay to the ass clowns when to strike.  There is an entire unit at OSA INT that does nothing but coordinate operatives throughout the US to make our lives a living hell, impede us, and stop us by any means necessary.  And there are OSA operatives throughout the Anonymous network, ESMB site, the Freezone and Independents running backstabbing, covert propaganda campaigns while we are “tied up” under siege.  Just  look for the 1.1s using the safe Independent Scientology space we are creating to promote such practices as no-training-needed to get onto OT levels, “OT I and OT II are of little importance”: especially coming from “Class VIIIs”,”Class VIs” and folks claiming to be “trained by Ron.”  They may as well be saying “Scientology is a fraud, because after all I studied it all, and violently disagree with the Bridge created by Ron.”  Think about it.  Beware of anyone who has “studied it all” and discourages you from doing the same.

We are doing far more than auditing pcs and pre-OTs and training people and contending with ass clowns.   We never lose sight of the mountain and always have the broader, longer view in mind and keep long-term projects advancing. I generally try to adhere to the advice of the Tao: Just do your work and then stand back.

However, today I am going to have to talk about some work in progress.  That is because, David Miscavige has caught wind of it and is going absolutely apoplectic attempting to put period to it.  It is not minor work.  It is of vast importance to the free practice of Scientology for future generations.

Two years ago the German government invited me to come there and to testify about Scientology.  I told them they might not like what I have to say since my view is that the work of L Ron Hubbard and the philosophy of Scientology should survive and thrive.  Interest waned; and we carried on with our work here.

A couple months ago I was approached by the German government again.  This time they informed me they had studied very thoroughly everything I had written and done over the past two years, and that they understood what we have done has accomplished more in curbing “church” of Scientology abuses than any other factor.  They expressed great interest in my informing not only their government, but representatives from a number of European countries, about our work, distinguishing the philosophy from the acts of the corrupt organization so that their own actions vis a vis Scientology were focused on actionable abuse and not on belief, faith, and workable help.  And so, we agreed to attempt to do so.

While I was in LA last week, Miscavige ordered the ass clowns to pack up and leave our town.  They did so, bringing in special trailers to remove their golf carts and a moving van to remove their rooms full of electronic surveillance equipment.

The “church” of Scientology – hacking international airline reservation computers as they do  – recently noted  our planned trip to Germany.

When I arrived back home last night, six of them promptly arrived at our driveway squealing like stuck pigs about Mosey and I going to Germany.

This morning the ass clowns moved back into the house less than 200 yards from our home that they had quietly abandoned five days earlier, claiming they only came back because Mosey and I were going to Germany.

Our efforts to educate them predictably fell on deaf, cultist ears.  However, I believe the record we made of that attempt is very educational.   It sets forth precisely why we are going to Germany and it shows the level of Miscavige’s violent disagreement with our mission.

Cleaning up the image and damage that Miscavige has created for Scientology  is not very difficult absent his gargantuan efforts to disrupt such work.  But, hey we’re not complaining; like I said at the outset, we’re not looking for “easy” lives –  instead, we’re going ahead living meaningful ones.

We shall see what Mosey and I can accomplish in three days in cleaning up what Miscavige has been busy destroying in Europe for three decades.  My prediction in the long term is that – much like what happened (though little known in the victors’ history books) during the civil rights movement of the fifties and sixties – Europe will embarrass the U.S. into taking responsibility for that which it was bribed into perpetuating.  It certainly won’t be boring – and may bring far more concentrated hell upon us than we’ve seen to date from vested interests in the U.S. government and the U.S. media who have effectively become whores for the cult.  But, as a wise, effective man once said: You may be a minority of one, but the truth is still the truth.

The videos follow.  Watch all the way through – you don’t want to miss the last few minutes where Mosey puts the debate to rest.

David Miscavige Destroys Freedom

David Miscavige reached another milestone today.   He killed another once-wonderful creation of L Ron Hubbard: Freedom Magazine.

While Jim Lynch and a cameraman assaulted Mosey and I at the check in line at Phoenix International Airport this morning, with Lynch attacking Mosey’s father in bargain, in the name of “Freedom” something was going viral on the internet.

The story about Freedom Magazine’s idiotic attack on The New Yorker, first published by Tony Ortega at the Village Voice, was being picked up by the New York Times and a number of other publications.

LRH wrote numerous articles on social issues for Freedom Magazine in the sixties and seventies. He established the policy for the publication to clean up rotten spots in society.  That policy was pretty much adhered to for more than twenty years.  Hubbard essays were reprinted during those years flanked by real investigations into societal ills by Freedom staff.

Miscavige  changed all that.  And he started Freedom’s death throes two years ago with 80 pages devoted to attacking Scientologists who had attempted to clean up his own mega rotten spots .  Freedom has done nothing but since.

Its latest edition on the New Yorker is no exception.  Except now it seems everybody but David Miscavige understands that Freedom, after his hijacking, has become something worse than a laughing stock.

Just take a look at some of the articles below on Miscavige’s latest PR coup.  He has managed to take a six month old shellacking of Radical Scientology and just about the time when most people lost interest he managed to have it linked anew, through Freedom Magazine, to numerous credible publications across the US.

In the bargain, I believe he has irreversibly painted Freedom magazine in the public mind as worse than a joke – instead it is now known as an inane, juvenile reflection of Miscavige’s own psyche.

This is not a minor issue.  If anyone in the Guardian’s Office or the Office of Special Affairs had managed to pull this stunt during the life time of L Ron Hubbard, I guarantee you that person would have been  declared in a New York minute.

David Miscavige killed Freedom.
